2022 Miami Dolphins Roster – What needs to be done

Chris Grier is clearly the Top Dog, The Big Man, Numero Uno Honcho, The Head Cheese. This is his ballgame, at least for this season. He’ll be responsible for our draft, and for choosing wisely in the 2022 Free Agency period before and after the draft. Whomever is hired as Head Coach will have the understanding that Chris Grier, at least for the moment is the man with the power and the final say on personnel decision making. He will accommodate his new Head Coach, but he will not be overrun by him. The Dolphins should be able to fill some huge holes in Free Agency, otherwise known as “Overpaying Contracts”. It doesn’t matter, we have to spend money, and we will. If we overpay, so be it, it’s expected. Besides having a few key positions of need, we have our own free agents that need to be taken care of. Let’s put it this way, we don’t need to save for the future, we need to get this team right now. Fix the biggest issue, which is the O-line and then work at giving Tua some upgraded weapons at RB and WR, not necessarily through Free Agency, but both Free Agency and the NFL Draft. Our first pick will likely be one of the last 3 picks in RD 1, and Grier needs to hit on that one. He no longer has an arsenal of multiple first, second and third round picks, and for a change we’re making our first selection at the end of the 1st round, but unfortunately not because we won a playoff game.

To address re-signing our own guys, the most obvious target is DE Emmanuel Ogbah. His market value is slated at $10M per year but I’m thinking more like $12-14M. Either way, he’s priority number one. Mike Gesicki will be a curious situation to keep an eye on. We know Gesicki is a talented receiving TE, and we also know Chris Grier selected him in RD 2, pick #42 in 2018. He’s had a nice career as a Miami Dolphins TE, not as good as I expected though. I still feel like he was underused here. I’d have thought he’d be the most dynamic receiving TE in a Dolphins uniform but that still belongs to former TE Randy McMichael. Randy Mac finished his first 4 seasons with 221 receptions, 2456 yards and 15 TD’s. Slightly behind is Gesicki with 199 receptions for 2255 yards and 13 TD’s. I truly thought Gesicki’s totals should have been higher. Twice in McMichael’s first 4 he was targeted over 100 times, Gesicki finally did that last season, but the caveat there is it was a 17 game season. Like I said, underused. My next guy is Nik Needham. I love this kid, and I hope we consider him an important part of our team. The 25 year old defensive back has played anywhere and everywhere and has played well. He’s averaged 50-60 tackles per season and has 6 INT’s in 3 seasons. He also has 23 passes defensed. He’s a team player and an unselfish one. The next player I want to re-sign but more for depth is LB Elandon Roberts. He’s a strong 2 down run stopper as we have seen for the last couple of years. TE Durham Smythe is another player we should re-sign, and I believe it’s possible Smythe is signed before Gesicki and possibly instead of Gesicki if Gesicki’s price is too steep. We MUST also re-sign ST’s ace and WR Mack Hollins. He’s a high priority re-sign as well.

OK, now on to the rest of the NFL’s potential castoffs. We need a huge upgrade or 2 on our O-line. We can address one or both in FA, and I can almost guarantee you that we will be spending a good amount on at least one of the top tier offensive linemen. To quickly reiterate, I’m not convinced we’re going to be looking for a tackle, although the argument for one can easily be made. My belief is still that Austin Jackson can be our LT and Liam Eichenberg can be our RT. That would indicate we’d be looking for interior OL, either 2 guards or a guard and a center. I think the latter is more likely. Brandon Scherff and Andrew Norwell are the top OG’s, but the guy I had mentioned weeks ago and still prefer is 49ers LG Laken Tomlinson. He plays every game every season and would solidify the left side and help young Austin Jackson at LT. I like Robert Hunt at RG so I’d prefer we look for an OC. The pickings are slim unless we’re looking for a C over 30. The Detroit Lions lost their star OC Frank Ragnow early on and turned to former NYG and former Dolphin C Evan Brown. Brown had a great season starting 12 games for the Lions. He’s a FA and just 25 years old. Ted Karras is another option. He played OG last season for the rival Patriots but as we all know, he played C for us here in 2020 and played well enough. Who knows if Karras would be willing to come back. If wellok at OT, Terron Armstead would be tops, both in talent and $$$. Cam Robinson from the Jaguars would be a younger and less expensive option. I hope we don’t look for an OT as I’ve mentioned.

Besides the O-line, we need to upgrade our WR corps. I don’t want top tier, address the best in the draft, but a nice 2nd tier WR is possible. We’re not a Davante Adams away from the SB so spend wisely here. Christian Kirk from the Cardinals is a nice talent. Others here have fallen for Byron Pringle of the Chiefs. I worry a bit about those 3rd, 4th and 5th option guys. Plays break down in KC and Mahomes is flushed and the defense naturally rolls to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce so of course guy like Pringle will either be in single or coverage or even possibly uncovered. We kind of saw the same thing with Sammy Watkins when he was with the Chiefs. Now Kirk played mostly in the slot, but he’s young and talented. D.J. Chark is a guy who has feasted on the perimeter and is a big bodied, agile player. 6’4 200, coming off a fractured ankle injury which should affect his playing career. He’s a 4.34 40 guy with a tremendous 40″ vertical. I’d say Chark would be number one target at WR, he’s been productive in a less than ideal offensive situation in Jacksonville. There’s also JuJu Smith-Schuster who had tremendous early success in his career at Pittsburgh, but has since been pushed back into the shadows by receivers like Chase Claypool and Dionte Johnson. Could a change of scenery jump-start JuJu? JuJu is a tough, fight for the ball type of receiver with less than ideal speed but good athleticism and ability.th Chark and Juju are only 25.

I’m going to cover the 2022 NFL Draft and in particular our needs in a future article. For now I’m going to leave you with my Free Agency wants, since there is Free Agency before the draft, and then of course, after the draft where a whole host of players are released and then become available once teams shuffle their rosters post draft. We’re one of the top 5 in cap space available so if we choose not to take my advice and go out and spend top money, we have it at approximately $67.5M. Let’s hope our guy Chris Grier gets the first part of the equation right so we go into the draft with better flexibility to make this team better.

We have like 2 months till the draft. Is it even possible to resolve all this fast enough to take a pick from us this year?
Might be one of our 2 next year, but then again might not even be a first.
What pick did they take from Bellicheat?

    • steveccnv says:

Absolutely not and why I tend to call guys like Brian Miller and Grant Cohn hacks

      • naplesfan2010 says:

Brian Miller is one of the worst sports writers in history. He doesn’t really understand football. He’s not even very smart or good with English or cool.

  2. naplesfan2010 says:

I even more want McDaniel now, since his birace will end that issue for us both with FA and social media.
Although I can’t see how anyone can say a Jewish owner with a Black GM, a recent black HC, and several prominent black assistant coaches and assistant GMs and a very memorable female Capologist is racist/sexist.
He also fired a Jewish GM to promote a Black guy to GM, so that is more proof that race and religion are not the deciding factor.
We even have a black back-up QB and some kind of minority starting QB, which is the position which a lot of people say is another racist indicator.

    • steveccnv says:

Like someone mentioned before the page turn, this has been in the works for years

With Flores’ bad temper igniting this, the scumbag lawyers found easy prey

The Washington “Commanders” has zero cachet, zero pzazz, zero resonance with young people or people of color, zero creativity, zero poetry or ability to roll off the tongue smoothly like in a pitch or jingle, zero abbreviability (The Washington Coms? The Washington Manders?), zero mascot …
I’ve seen zero excitement for this new nickname.
Who did they have helping them pick a name? certainly not a marketing firm nor a socially informed thinktank.
    It’s hideous and a 100% failure.

  5. naplesfan2010 says:

Looking over the list of FA OTs is disheartening.
The best might be Terron Armstead, who was only the 24th ranked last year.
According to the site below, he’d cost $20M a year for 3 years. Yikes. That’s too much to pay a RT.
And what incentive would he have to play hard?
    I’d rather draft a RT.
What would a 29th pick or 50th pick rookie earn?
The 2021 29th pick got $3M per year for 4 years. And he has fresh legs and strong incentive.

I don’t see any draft implications for us in this year’s draft. Just simply not enough time for the investigation to run its course

Wasn’t he just a blogger with 2 or 3 other dudes with their own blog back in the SS days? Then kind of was self-elevated into a sportswriter with preferential media like access and/or blogger expert of sorts??

I remember him posting on the SS back in the day.

Did anyone watch Hard Knocks when Hue Jackson’s Browns were on? All the NFL’s lawyers have to do is show the film from that season to refute him.

So the Browns got the #1 overall pick and took Baker Mayfield so how did that work for them?

    • bailbondmike says:

Yeah, makes no sense. Of course, if they had fired him then, it would have been a major shit storm. So, they really couldn’t fire him then if they wanted to.

Bottom line for me was the whole team regressed in 2021 and that is on the coaches.

    • wyoming85 says:

    • The Flying Pig says:

It’s early just a public relations statement, I don’t think an itinerary establishes anything

But yeah, between elway, the Dolphins and the Giants, everyone is saying he is full of shit

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Also I forget about Belichick

don’t be surprised if Tom Brady makes a a statement and Tampa bay since the implication is that Brady was open to being tampered with and the Bucs were game

    • Tim Knight says:

The ironic thing is that the Rooney rule is responsible for “the sham” interviews with minority candidates. If the Giants had decided on Daboll and say another white candidate was due a 2nd interview and the Giants canceled it, nobody who say anything. The Rooney rule doesn’t work in a lot of ways.

      • The Flying Pig says:

The Rooney rule isn’t responsible for that
The owners finding a way around it are

The league instituted a rule to reverse the racial disparities that exist with executive and coaching jobs that requires interviews of at least 1 minority, and the owners promptly did the minimum and then went back to the way it always was. I guess it was silly to expect the owners to be willing to actually hire minorities

      • Tim Knight says:

I know that the rule was put in place for all the right reasons. But it obviously doesn’t increase the hiring of minorities.

      • The Flying Pig says:

It’s not working – no question

But that’s exactly why the nfl is being sued

No matter what you think about the specifics of Flores suit, which does seem crazy in a lot of ways to me, it goes nowhere without the enormous disparities that exist in the nfl when it comes to hiring

And you can make a pretty good case that the nfl turned a blind eye to those hiring practices, much like teams practices with concussions once upon a time, and didn’t step in, knowing many teams are just interviewing a minority candidate with no intent to hire him.

  33. wyoming85 says:

  34. Ken says:

Ross is a piece of shit. Mara and the Giants organization are not. This is going to be interesting

    • CavalierKong says:

I was just about to post something along those lines…

Anyone want to bet the only thing that comes out of this is the Dolphins organization gets reamed?

    • Tim Knight says:

The more I think about this, I don’t know how Flores proves any of this.

But Ross always seems to be involved in something stupid so there probably is something to it as far as accusations against him.

      • Ken says:

It will be up to 6 jurors as to who is more credible. It’s anyone’s ball game

      • Tim Knight says:

Doesn’t there need to be evidence?

      • Ken says:

        Testimony is evidence

      • Tim Knight says:

But isn’t that only Hearsay? I say you said that, and I say I didn’t. How do you decide on that?

      • Ken says:

What is and is not hearsay along with the many exceptions to the hearsay rule gets very complicated

      • Ken says:

Also a statement from a party opponent is not hearsay by definition it is deemed admissible evidence so you can have exactly that he said she said situation and a jury of 6 had to decide who is more credible. That is why I spend a lot of time indoctrinating a jut on credibility on voir dire

  35. Rockphin says:

    WTF is wrong with you!?!?!?

Waffles every time…..unless they are blue.

    DO NOT GOOGLE “BLUE WAFFLE”

    It cannot be unseen

  36. The Flying Pig says:

If we are lucky, the Dolphins will be punished to the extent that Ross will be forced to sell the team

    • Tim Knight says:

I’d be for that at this point but how are they going to prove anything?

      • Ken says:

That is up to the league and not really governed by the evidentiary rules as Flores lawsuit

      • The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know that they can prove a thing in the suit

But if the nfl does their own investigation and decides to take action, they can force an owner to sell the team. They might want to make Ross the scapegoat

And I don’t think a lot of us will rush to defend him at this rate….lol

  37. The Flying Pig says:

Wasn’t the McDaniel interview supposed to be today?

  38. herdfan says:

Aside from everything else, it’s satisfying to me to see Bill Belichick come off looking like an idiot.

  39. The Flying Pig says:

Wasn’t bill belicheat his friend and mentor?

    • Ken says:

      Not anymore

    • CavalierKong says:

Oh? Did Belicheat tell him that? WTF?

    • Ken says:

From the article above and I laughing at the image of Bellicheck at a deposition or testifying at trial:
None of that matters when it’s time to litigate Flores’s case. Flores claims that Belichick influenced the Giants’ hiring process. Flores’s lawyers will be exploring whether that happened. The NFL’s lawyers will be trying to show that it didn’t. Either way, Belichick will be swapping his sleeveless hoodie for a suit and tie as he grunts and grumbles his way through questions far more pointed and aggressive than any he ever has faced at a press conference — and as he learns that simply repeating mantras like “we’re on to Cincinnati” won’t nearly be good enough.

    • pheloniusphish says:

Damn…talk about biting the hand that fed you. What a piece of shit.

  40. wyoming85 says:

You guys know that if it’s bad enough they force Ross to sell the team. We are going to loose multiple draft picks, maybe even multiple years!

  41. Mike E. says:

Someone posted this on twitter today. Hey Flores, you mean you were actually trying to win these games???

    Sunday, September 8, 1:00PM BAL 59 – MIA 10
    Sunday September 15, 1:00PM NE 43 – MIA 0
    Sunday September 22, 1:00PM DAL 31 – MIA 6
    Sunday September 29, 1:00PM LAC 30 – MIA 10

  42. sb7mvp says:

Flores would have had a better chance with a wrongful termination suit along with defamation of character IMO. The Broncos and the Giants situations were just poor interpretations of what happened. This is why I said a few days ago that the class action lawsuit wasn’t Flores idea, but something the lawyers had been looking to do for a while and brought it to Flores.

    • Ken says:

Lawyers have to operate within the confines of the client’s wishes. It is an ethical cannon of the profession. You can get in big trouble if you are pushing your agenda as opposed to that of your client. Now it does happen sometimes usually involving unsophisticated clients. Flores is not that. He knows full well what he is doing. I don’t believe for one moment he is being manipulated into this suit

      • sb7mvp says:

How did you get any of that from anything in my post? I never said he was manipulated and I’m not saying their agendas are opposed. Both have the same agenda. I’m just willing to bet he was approached by them and not the other way around. You can’t tell me there aren’t lawyers out there that have been wanted to take on a case like this. The narrative has been brewing for years. That’s why it’s a class action suit and not just Flores going after a few teams. Because the evidence for Flores is weak in regards to the racism.

      • Ken says:

I am guessing it was far more likely that Flores went to the lawyers than the other way around which made sound like the lawyers convinced him to bring the suit. It is more typical for a client to come to the lawyer. It’s a big investment to bring a case like this and it is unlikely that the law firm will put in the investment and man hours into such a suit without a client having come to them first

      • sb7mvp says:

It may be more typical, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. IMO, they’re chasing the opportunity to get into the history books with this lawsuit and trying to make Flores out to be the Rosa Parks of football. Of all the things Flores has come forward with, his best chances seem to be going after just Ross. That’s if what he said happened actually happened and he’s got some sort of proof. Knowing Ross’s history with this franchise, I’m more inclined to believe it.

      • Ken says:

I think Flores has been planning this for quite some time. To have a 58 page complaint ready to serve on a specific symbolic date was something obviously planned for a while and I think it was being planned long before Flores was fired. Likely going back to at least to the point where he started not communicating with his assistants

  43. sb7mvp says:

I’m trying to remember correctly, but didn’t Flores chastise guys on the team that were kneeling then eventually release them in the off season? I know he did the second part, but I’m fuzzy on the first.

    _______
I read it, it was mostly filler. Like a poorly written wikipedia article on social justice in football. It literally had verbatim stuff that I’ve read in facebook arguments. A small percentage of it actually pertained to anything related to Flores.

    • Ken says:

The initial complaint are usually mostly filler and the fact that much of the complaint involves more than just the Dolphins means it has been worked on for a while. I think Flores is the driving force in this suit

    • Tim Knight says:

Flores is not the most articulate guy. He struggles to find words when he speaks and relies on simple statements. I’m not sure what to think about him at this time.

  47. mf13ss says:

What is it with the Texans and Phins? Seriously, why did Bill O’Brien trade us 3 1st round picks for Laremy Tunsil (we likely would have settled for ONE 1st round pick)? O’Brien worked for Belicheat* in New England from 2007-11, along with Brian Flores… just an observation, nothing more.

Why did Chris Grier sign the very frail Will Fuller from the Texans for $10M?

Why was there a subtle push for Deshaun Watson to come to Miami, and that was PRIOR to the massage revelations? Then after the lawyer (who is besties and neighbors with Texans ownership) leveled charges against Watson, there was an even GREATER push for Miami to sign him (for less compensation).

Why was Steve Ross on the phone with Watson at the 11th hour? Why would Ross sign somebody to be the face of our franchise, knowing there were 22 counts of sexual misconduct already against Watson?

As I stated yesterday, we know (if y’all didn’t already) that Chris Grier’s father Bobby works for the Texans.

Something is fanstastically out of place, here. Make it make sense, because I have the feeling that there’s a coverup going on… and I guarantee y’all that Bill O’Brien knows something. For fuck’s sake, he even traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals for pennies on the dollar.

    There’s something rotten in Denmark…

    • mf13ss says:

So the story has become about Brian Flores suing the NFL… there’s something WAY bigger beneath the surface.

    • Tim Knight says:

A lot of this has been discussed many times and there is a lot of info. about how and why certain things went down. You seem to want to just glue it all together as some sort of conspiracy. Grier’s father was never the biggest voice in the Texans building and I’m not sure he’s even there anymore. He’s not listed on their official site as holding any job.

      • mf13ss says:

You’ve got to admit, something isn’t adding up.

      • Tim Knight says:

You have to go back to the timeline of the Texans. They were on the cusp of winning and then they fell apart. Tunsil was to help put them over the top. Then when it didn’t work there was a mass exodus of players. Even Watson doesn’t want to play for them anymore regardless of his legal issues. All of their best players are gone. Two of them are on the Cardinals. What’s the connection there?

  48. pheloniusphish says:

Which. Part isn’t adding up? Flores was fired for being a jerk (pay attention Piggy). Then he got his feeling hurt when the Giants picked an offensive guy to help their young QB. So Fragile Flores threw the race card on the table and started calling everyone a bunch of big meanies and insinuated they’re was a conspiracy.

    • mf13ss says:

If that’s how ya feel, cool! I happen to think there’s much more to the matter than Flores arbitrarily using the nuclear option.

If I find out that BLM got to Flores, then FUCK HIM. But until then, this story is still raw and there are more facts to be gathered.

I’m tired of the corporate media making our minds up for us. I want to know what the hell happened with EVERYTHING being discussed. And don’t trust these billionaire owners at their word either, as if they don’t own the presses, the CEOs of media, and the writers.

LOL, it’s not binge watching, just over time. Lying is easy to detect if you know what to ask. The liar/guilty will always change the story and expose themselves. Truth is easy because it’s reality, lying is much more of an effort because you have to remember what to say or what not to say.

      • ElephantRider says:

Why I always tell the truth….I have a shitty memory

  51. Tim Knight says:

    LOL @ ER. Don’t commit a crime and you’ll be fine. 😉

  52. Tim Knight says:

I feel bad for the players who just want to play hard and try to go out and win. They get caught up in the nonsense.

You know what, I’d end the Rooney Rule and see how teams behave when HC and GM jobs are available. See how committed they are to diversity and let them expose themselves. Right now it’s just another ineffective version of Affirmative Action. The idea has all the best intentions, but it’s not effective in reality. You are now social engineering and not going by the best person for the job. That kind of micro-management never works because it pits people against each other as we are seeing right now in the NFL.

  53. Mike E. says:

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time!

  54. Tim Knight says:

    Mike McDaniel

    1. A HC job is a new level and more money for me, my wife and family.

    2. I think we can win with Tua, reportedly spent a lot of time telling Grier how the running game improves the entire team.

    3. I like what we have to work with but what the fuck is going on with you guys?

If we lose him we know it’s because of the nonsense.

  55. Krishna says:

To be honest, I could see Ross saying something like this. Some of you were in the tank for Tua camp….lol.

Earlier Wednesday, Flores appeared on “Get Up” where he said he told Miami players about the alleged incentive, ESPN reported.

“That was a conversation about not doing as much as we needed to do in order to win football games,” the former coach said. “Take a flight, go on vacation, I’ll give you $100,000 per loss — those were his exact words. I deal in truth, I tell the players this, as well. I’m gonna give you good news, bad news — but it’s going to be honest.”

“To disrespect the game like that, trust was lost, and there were certainly some strained relationships, and ultimately, I think that was my demise in Miami,” Flores added, according to the report.

    • Brian in NY says:

I don’t know. I keep wanting to find a reason to refute this, but why would he make something like this up? Just because he was fired? He would have to be a pathological liar to be this creative.

      • Ken says:

I can question 4 different witnesses to an accident or a conversation for a conversation for that matter and get 4 different versions with each witness in their heart believing they are telling the truth

  56. Brian in NY says:

The other thing that worries me is the face that we got absolutely destroyed in the first four games of the season, then pulled it together to have a half way decent season. You could argue that the talent on that team was poor, but it’s not like we added anyone after that. Could they have come together as a team by then? Sure. But it’s concerning.

  57. naplesfan2010 says:

The big question for me is will Aaron Rogers move to Tampa Bay. Then he could win a Super Bowl, which would lessen the glory for Tommy.
It makes sense for Rogers as Arians is both a guru and tolerant of aging superstar QBs and their demands.
That team is ready to win now.

    • sb7mvp says:

How would that lessen the Glory for Tommy? Aaron Rodgers is an elite QB. If I drive a ferrari, then get a lambourghini, it doesn’t lessen the ferrari. Now if they traded for Daniel Jones and end up winning with him, then you’d have an argument.

      • naplesfan2010 says:

good point, but T-Bay needs a QB, so if anyone comes in, and the team makes it deep into the playoffs, it will lessen the narrative that Tommy took them there all by himself.

I guess I kinda slopped two ideas into one post.
        The other being that
T-Bay is one of the most ideal landing spots for A-Rod.

  58. naplesfan2010 says:

I hear Doug Pedersen went to Jax. I am very happy for Trevor who fought through the Urban Meyer debacle without either getting crippled on the field or losing his shit off. (At least I hope he’s not ruined.)

  59. naplesfan2010 says:

So about that. K I’m a Florida guy with allegiance to both Jax and T-Bay.
But even with all this lousy stinkin shit associated with Steve Ross and Brian Flores et al., I am not changing who my favorite team is.

    GO DOLPHINS.

  60. naplesfan2010 says:

You could make a case that Flo say the writing on the wall and thought ‘hey you wanna see tanking?’ and thus orchestrated the losing streak last season. It appeared to me that bad coaching cost us at least the Jags game and strongly influenced two others.

Then he stopped talking to his assistants who maybe banded together behind the scenes, maybe out of professional pride, maybe with some team leaders or not, and that is how we went on the winning streak, apparently without input from Flo.

Well, another HC spot taken up.

    ____
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make that narrative. There’s the notion that Tom Brady could be masking the ability of Leftwich to be a good coach. I’ve seen where people say he helped change the culture and he did.
Everything I’ve seen was that the only thing missing from the team was a QB. They went 7-9 the previous year with Winston at the helm in Arians first year. He had a career year in positive stats, but also in negative stats, turning the ball over 40+ times.

  65. Ken says:

Rodgers won’t go to Tampa. That team is in cap hell and is about to be deconstructed

    • steveccnv says:

And a factor in Brady’s decision to retire

    • bailbondmike says:

They are not in cap hell really. They are currently 16th with 18mil but that is because Brady is still on their roster. When he comes off it will add another 9.1 mil. That will get them to 27mil with 46 players under contract. They can easily restructure some contracts and get over 40mil in cap space.

They do need to resign or replace RB’s Fournette and Jones. Don’t think they try to resign WR Godwin. They gave him too much money already and he is not all that.

    • steveccnv says:

Over the cap has them almost 7m over, but still shows Brady in there, with him retiring his cap goes from 20m to 32m, which puts them 5m over

As a fan at this stage we really can only speculate what that means, but I’ve heard several people say their cap situation was not good and the plan was to rebuild instead of resign everyone like 2021

  66. bailbondmike says:

Looks like Jags got it right this time around.

I am looking at our list of potential HC’s set up for interviews compared to other teams and I am like WTF. They either had their sites already set on 1-2 guys from the get go (kind of like the NYG) or was just not prepared. To go along with all the controversy shit, this coaching search looks like a mismanaged joke as well.

  67. steveccnv says:

Flores says he told the team about the tanking, and yet the worst team in NFL in September somehow banded together to win 5 out of the last 9, including week 17 against the cheats who had a bye at stake

I find that very hard to believe, but should be easy to prove

The bottomline on the Rooney rule is it has gotten minority candidates more coaching opportunities, while not perfect its better than before, it shouldn’t be bashed for not being perfect, and don’t forget the NFL isn’t a givt entity

  68. steveccnv says:

7 you brought good facts to the table above after reading all 58 pages, while Ken brought generalizations, good sleuthing

    • Ken says:

I read all 58 pages. I am telling you the way the business works. It wasn’t about the content

      • steveccnv says:

Generalizing how the business works and not bringing any facts is about what I said

7 said it was mostly fluff and didn’t have a lot in there to make you think Flores had been planning this

We all know how scummy lawyers can be, especially those looking to make a name for themselves or greedy ones, so it’s not too much of a stretch to think his lawyers came to him and not the other way around

Watson’s lawyer comes to mind, as does Avenatti

      • Ken says:

Steve I think you are the one generalizing now

    • sb7mvp says:

I brought my POV and Ken brought his, which was appreciated. None of us really have any of the actual facts here.

  69. steveccnv says:

Flores didn’t think too much of Tua, yet he was very aggressive on 4th down

Does that make him a liar or stupid?

  70. CavalierKong says:

Did I read that right? Flores is saying he told the players early in 2019 that Ross wanted them to tank? And all the players that heard that, both still on the team and the ones that left kept that to themselves?

If that is true, I’d think there will be a number of ex-Dolphins will come forward and corroborate that.

  71. Mike E. says:

Wouldn’t it be great if Tua made it to the Pro Bowl and was doing these drills, and they set up all the targets 5 yards away for him when it was his turn?
