Chris Grier is clearly the Top Dog, The Big Man, Numero Uno Honcho, The Head Cheese. This is his ballgame, at least for this season. He’ll be responsible for our draft, and for choosing wisely in the 2022 Free Agency period before and after the draft. Whomever is hired as Head Coach will have the understanding that Chris Grier, at least for the moment is the man with the power and the final say on personnel decision making. He will accommodate his new Head Coach, but he will not be overrun by him. The Dolphins should be able to fill some huge holes in Free Agency, otherwise known as “Overpaying Contracts”. It doesn’t matter, we have to spend money, and we will. If we overpay, so be it, it’s expected. Besides having a few key positions of need, we have our own free agents that need to be taken care of. Let’s put it this way, we don’t need to save for the future, we need to get this team right now. Fix the biggest issue, which is the O-line and then work at giving Tua some upgraded weapons at RB and WR, not necessarily through Free Agency, but both Free Agency and the NFL Draft. Our first pick will likely be one of the last 3 picks in RD 1, and Grier needs to hit on that one. He no longer has an arsenal of multiple first, second and third round picks, and for a change we’re making our first selection at the end of the 1st round, but unfortunately not because we won a playoff game.
To address re-signing our own guys, the most obvious target is DE Emmanuel Ogbah. His market value is slated at $10M per year but I’m thinking more like $12-14M. Either way, he’s priority number one. Mike Gesicki will be a curious situation to keep an eye on. We know Gesicki is a talented receiving TE, and we also know Chris Grier selected him in RD 2, pick #42 in 2018. He’s had a nice career as a Miami Dolphins TE, not as good as I expected though. I still feel like he was underused here. I’d have thought he’d be the most dynamic receiving TE in a Dolphins uniform but that still belongs to former TE Randy McMichael. Randy Mac finished his first 4 seasons with 221 receptions, 2456 yards and 15 TD’s. Slightly behind is Gesicki with 199 receptions for 2255 yards and 13 TD’s. I truly thought Gesicki’s totals should have been higher. Twice in McMichael’s first 4 he was targeted over 100 times, Gesicki finally did that last season, but the caveat there is it was a 17 game season. Like I said, underused. My next guy is Nik Needham. I love this kid, and I hope we consider him an important part of our team. The 25 year old defensive back has played anywhere and everywhere and has played well. He’s averaged 50-60 tackles per season and has 6 INT’s in 3 seasons. He also has 23 passes defensed. He’s a team player and an unselfish one. The next player I want to re-sign but more for depth is LB Elandon Roberts. He’s a strong 2 down run stopper as we have seen for the last couple of years. TE Durham Smythe is another player we should re-sign, and I believe it’s possible Smythe is signed before Gesicki and possibly instead of Gesicki if Gesicki’s price is too steep. We MUST also re-sign ST’s ace and WR Mack Hollins. He’s a high priority re-sign as well.
OK, now on to the rest of the NFL’s potential castoffs. We need a huge upgrade or 2 on our O-line. We can address one or both in FA, and I can almost guarantee you that we will be spending a good amount on at least one of the top tier offensive linemen. To quickly reiterate, I’m not convinced we’re going to be looking for a tackle, although the argument for one can easily be made. My belief is still that Austin Jackson can be our LT and Liam Eichenberg can be our RT. That would indicate we’d be looking for interior OL, either 2 guards or a guard and a center. I think the latter is more likely. Brandon Scherff and Andrew Norwell are the top OG’s, but the guy I had mentioned weeks ago and still prefer is 49ers LG Laken Tomlinson. He plays every game every season and would solidify the left side and help young Austin Jackson at LT. I like Robert Hunt at RG so I’d prefer we look for an OC. The pickings are slim unless we’re looking for a C over 30. The Detroit Lions lost their star OC Frank Ragnow early on and turned to former NYG and former Dolphin C Evan Brown. Brown had a great season starting 12 games for the Lions. He’s a FA and just 25 years old. Ted Karras is another option. He played OG last season for the rival Patriots but as we all know, he played C for us here in 2020 and played well enough. Who knows if Karras would be willing to come back. If wellok at OT, Terron Armstead would be tops, both in talent and $$$. Cam Robinson from the Jaguars would be a younger and less expensive option. I hope we don’t look for an OT as I’ve mentioned.
Besides the O-line, we need to upgrade our WR corps. I don’t want top tier, address the best in the draft, but a nice 2nd tier WR is possible. We’re not a Davante Adams away from the SB so spend wisely here. Christian Kirk from the Cardinals is a nice talent. Others here have fallen for Byron Pringle of the Chiefs. I worry a bit about those 3rd, 4th and 5th option guys. Plays break down in KC and Mahomes is flushed and the defense naturally rolls to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce so of course guy like Pringle will either be in single or coverage or even possibly uncovered. We kind of saw the same thing with Sammy Watkins when he was with the Chiefs. Now Kirk played mostly in the slot, but he’s young and talented. D.J. Chark is a guy who has feasted on the perimeter and is a big bodied, agile player. 6’4 200, coming off a fractured ankle injury which should affect his playing career. He’s a 4.34 40 guy with a tremendous 40″ vertical. I’d say Chark would be number one target at WR, he’s been productive in a less than ideal offensive situation in Jacksonville. There’s also JuJu Smith-Schuster who had tremendous early success in his career at Pittsburgh, but has since been pushed back into the shadows by receivers like Chase Claypool and Dionte Johnson. Could a change of scenery jump-start JuJu? JuJu is a tough, fight for the ball type of receiver with less than ideal speed but good athleticism and ability.th Chark and Juju are only 25.
I’m going to cover the 2022 NFL Draft and in particular our needs in a future article. For now I’m going to leave you with my Free Agency wants, since there is Free Agency before the draft, and then of course, after the draft where a whole host of players are released and then become available once teams shuffle their rosters post draft. We’re one of the top 5 in cap space available so if we choose not to take my advice and go out and spend top money, we have it at approximately $67.5M. Let’s hope our guy Chris Grier gets the first part of the equation right so we go into the draft with better flexibility to make this team better.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft was just dropped earlier today…
#28 Packers: Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia
#29 Bengals: TYLER LINDENBAUM, C, Iowa (can’t believe he lasts this long)
#30 Phins: Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota
#31 Lions: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty (I really like this guy, not for us though)
#32 Chiefs: JAMESON WILLIAMS, WR, Alabama
If the Draft falls this way, I’d be tempted to either trade up one spot for Tyler Lindenbaum, or just run to the podium for Jameson Williams… probably the latter.
FULL-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS_uRjgWaag
Nice write, Mike E. You’ve got the right idea!
Thanks M – I just typed a response to your first post on this one. I agree wholeheartedly with taking Jameson with our first. That’s like the perfect spot to do that.
HELL YEAH!!!
I’m not keen on signing another Alabama player coming off of injury in the first.
What if he was from Michigan? lol
That’s acceptable.
In my first 2022 Phins Blueprint, I lobbied for pending FA Connor Williams, LG, Cowboys. I’ve since discovered that he was responsible for a dozen or so penalties last season (OUCH!). If he can be coached out of those penalties, he’s golden for us. If not, PASS.
Sportrac had him @ $10.2M/year market value… he’s gotta go cheaper than that with his propensity to draw so many flags, no matter how good he is (and he’s GOOD).
LOL @ SB!
The one time I don’t want them to worry about money is getting us the BEST FA RT 😉 this year!
Healthy, young, and DOMINANT!!!!

Looks like we at least have Daboll waiting for us now, don’t even think Grier could F that up, unless he brings Joseph in
So 1 of the 3 Daboll, McD or Moore, or possibly even Harbaugh should be our new HC by the end of next week
Really don’t have a problem with any of them
Wondered why we went from 70m to 65m in cap space, checked over the cap, they’ve added some camp bodies to our top 51.
9 guys making 7.6m combined aren’t likely to make the team, 44 signed as of OTC
Mike, I’d be surprised, if we didn’t sign an OT in FA
Sure Jackson may pull whatever is stuck up his ass out, and be a decent LT for us, but we can’t put all our eggs in his basket again
1 FA OT and 1 FA C
Would not necessarily prevent us from drafting one early as well
After the 2nd ok, but if we draft another in the first, then Grier is a bigger maroon than I thought
I disagree we need 2 new OTs
Daniel Faalele is a real project, more of a project then Austin Jackson ever was
I don’t think he even played football until college
I would be furious if we took him in the first round. This team doesn’t need another inexperienced project on the OL
Probably the worst pick we can make
Piggy,
What do you think about us drafting Faalele in the first round?
I’ll take a random pork thoughts for $500 Alex
Steve – I can’t go by anything concrete in my feeling that once we bring a legit O-line coach, he’s going to work Jackson back at LT and then Eich at RT. It’s not far fetched. If you also consider how much better the interior of the O-line would be with Tomlinson at LG, an established guy at C, then Hunt at RG. No way we scrap Jackson altogether, so we might as well get him playing where he should be playing and that’s LT. Same goes for Eichenberg. It’s just my feeling.
I tend to agree with this to the extent that I am not confident the previous coaching staff knew how to develop these guys and there is probably untapped potential or talent there….that being said, will the new staff be able to analyze the current players enough, prior to FA and the draft in order to make confident decisions based on what we have here already?
I think the previous coaching staff did a disservice to them by moving them all around when they got desperate
They fucked the OL before game 1
Then they continued to fuck up the OL
What needs to be done? They need to fire Grier and start over the right f’n way!
Now that I answered your question in the headline, let me go back and read the post. (and check for errors. LOL)
OC Frank Ragnow ear4ly (there is no 4 in early)
If wellok at OT, Terron Armstead (if we LOOK AT)
athleticism and ability.th Chark and Juju are only 25. (HUH?)
Good article MikeE !!
Thanks once again for keeping things going here!
Ken
I don’t think we need 2 new OT
I don’t think all of our recent draftees careers are over
We should bring one vet OT, and he let young OTs we have drafted compete for the other spot
We basically handed those jobs to young players as rookies and threw them into the 🔥 surrounded by other inexperienced OL. I don’t think we should ignore how bad the coaching has been (3 different OL systems I’m 3 years) and the effect it has had on young players
If either Jackson, Eichenberg or Davis are in the starting lineup next our front office will have failed. They suck. I am tired of waiting for our OL to stop sucking
Ken,
I think Davis is separate from the other 2 as he is an experienced veteran, I agree with Piggy that we still need to give the other 2 a chance as that coaching staff probably really messed them up.
They all suck
I’m not there yet with the young guys
Good write, Mike. When talking about FA, I think the term overpay comes into play because fans tend to think nobody should make more than $10M per year when the market goes up every year for top players at their positions. That’s just the reality.
#stangerstrong
Thanks Tim. I get FA. I know it’s not really overpaying. It is if you use FA as the main source to build your team. You have to draft well and then supplement with free agency
totally agreed
Cheater
Well that I agree with. We really haven’t built through FA the last few years so I’m not too concerned about that. But we should use or cap to help add some vets to the mix.
If Grier goes and drafts a 6’9″ 380LB heavy footed raw tackle in the first round (Daniel Faalele), Even as low as 30 I will hunt him down and make him regret it!!!
🐷 – exactly! Grier spent a mid 1st round pick on Austin Jackson and traded up last year in the 2nd to get Eichenberg. We’re not going to just give up on them. Both guys need to be coached up and to be given better more experienced talent next to them.
If they don’t bite as pups…
Fuck Parcells – I believe he’s the one that coined that. I hate Parcells more than Saban. 🤬
Is BS
I see Miami drafted linemen starting on teams all over the league. We give up on the too early / don’t coach them up properly. it has been an issue for the better part of a decade.
Cut our losses and move on to better talent on the OL
I’m going to be pretty disappointed if we go into next season with 3 or 4 of the same guys on the oline.
I’d keep Hunt and Eich, and jettison the rest.
Maybe Dieter as a backup, but not my starting option
Hunt definitely. Eich maybe as a backup. He is not starting material
Kong – You really think we ditch Austin Jackson?
Just a reminder, he’s a 22 YO Left Tackle who has played on the worst O-line in the NFL, coached by the worst O-line coach in the NFL. He’s been moved from LT to LG and has had a rookie LG or LT next to him each season. Think about that . . .
I think we’ll keep him and continue to develop him. He’d just better not be ‘developing’ in a starting role unless he WINS the spot.
I would like to know what the deal is with Kindley also.
I think Kindley needs to get in shape and get his head on straight. I think he can be a mauler in the run game, I’d love to see a coach light a fire under him.
We were all on here all year talking about how this was the worst line in the league and one of the worst in history. How can we put most of our offensive struggles on the oline then say we’re going to start 4/5ths of that same line.
Pretty sure I said 3/5’s, but yeah. Poor coaching yields poor results. I think they realize that now, big part of the reason why Flores is gone. He didn’t do too well with his staff.
I guess I just can’t believe our oline was so unbelievably inept that we had to design our entire offense around it as a liability, and that was all, or mostly, on coaching.
I’d rather take the chance that maybe we miss out on a crappy player getting somewhat better than take the chance we go another entire year and still don’t know if Tua sucks because we went in with the majority of our oline being the same putzes we had this year.
If we sit here in 01/2023 talking about how we couldn’t evaluate our QB because the oline was so bad, I’ll probably jump off a tall building, lol.
An ape on tall building hmmm 🤔
If we go into the next season relying that a new coach is going to mystically transform Jackson and Grant into capable OL then we are fucked.
Jakeem, Cary or President Grant?
Eichenberg I don’t know what the hell I typed. I must be rage typing LOL
LOL – Ken turning green at the keyboard
I am always green
Pretty cool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4GC2cDWqWU
Maybe we should stay out of the Russia/Ukraine conflict. lol
Jedi training here I come 😀
You can call me Master Hulk
I think the biggest mistake Grier made was going too young on the OL all at the same time. I really don’t know if it was coaching or the talent just isn’t that good. It’s probably a mix of both.
I think this is likely the closest to the truth

I disagree we need 2 new OTs
Well, then they need to come from FA
So who in the draft, late in the first, or early 2nd would you think could come in and unseat Eichenberg?
I think a toad could unseat Eichenberg
Fair enough, but who in draft, where we pick is going to do better?
Don’t really have the answer for that yet and I definitely want an OT in FA as there are some good ones out there. I do think where we are sitting in the draft that Lindenbaum is a realistic possibility and I would be good with that as well. I don’t Lindenbaum will go as high as some have said

I wouldn’t have a problem with that, but in no way am I making the same mistake thinking Jackson can play, without a backup plan
Yep, have to have a fallback option for sure.

Mostly agree with that, but I’m giving Eichenberg another year, as for Jackson he also wouldn’t be my #1 option
Yeah Jackson should not be penciled in as a starter at any position. It’s not just struggling with his play, he makes a lot of mistakes.
Hey Mike, how much snow is expected by you?
The last projection was 10-18″. If you’re still in north jersey, it should be less where you are.
Yeah I heard it’s more coastal but who the F knows. I expect we’ll still get a decent amount, just hope it’s not too much. It snowed a few times here today but the temps were somewhat warm and it melted on impact. But that wasn’t the storm. We shall see. Be safe!
You too bud! Honestly, work has been exhausting lately. It’s crazy busy, and we’ve been shorthanded for about a month, at one point we had 10 people out with COVID. One of our Opticians went out on Family Leave, not sure if she’s coming back. Another left just before Christmas, she took another job and we had 3 girls that were pregnant. One gave birth and is back, another gave birth and is coming back mid February and the other is due at the end of February. I could use a snow day to chillax.

Great tune!
I think MikeE is our new OL guru. Everything he says makes sense to me. Great job, MikeE! And, as always, thanks for all your work on keeping us entertained no informed.
***
And why doesn’t anybody wanna be our HC!? I hope it’s because they have targeted somebody still playing and not that we suck that bad!
Ha! Thanks Randy. Either they haven’t made up their mind yet or there’s another surprise in store. I think we could hire Daboll now if we want to, we haven’t though.
Randy, in reality being 10-6 and 9-8 the last two years with a solid draft and the most cap in the NFL, hardly equals because we suck so bad. LOL
M – what’s the snow forecast for your area?
I’m fortunate, my man. My area is going to miss most of the action, though we got a brief 2″ today. I think I’m in the clear for this weekend.
Y’all stay safe out there, ya heard!
MikeE,
I thought I just heard that Daboll is going to NY?
I’ve thought that for awhile now. He knows their new GM personally and professionally and they want a guy to help fix Daniel Jones.
Wow, I didn’t hear that. Well, I’m okay with that, you could throw all the guys out there names in a hat and pick one and I won’t be mad or excited either. I want Harbaugh, so if somehow he becomes available, he’s the one I want
So it looks as though Doogie Houser is going to be our next HC… at least at the moment.
Vincent Delpino’s going to be his OC.
😆
Well played!
Yep
Why does how a guy looks really matter. I get McDaniels looks like a hipster, but do we really think the HCs and coaches in the NFL are GQ type guys? LOL
I don’t think McDaniels looks like a ‘hipster’, to be honest. It’s more about his lack of experience in this league, and as we all recall, Joe Philbin (in Green Bay) didn’t call the plays as an OC either.
Well does look like a hipster that I’ve seen in Brooklyn. It’s mostly the glasses and when he grows the beard. You called him Doogie Houser. LOL
He’s a candidate to be the HC, not to be the OC. Play calling has nothing to do with it. There is much more to coaching and playing football than calling the play in a game. Preparation and execution is the core of any sport.
Well maybe we dodged a bullet. I guess he was made to feel wanted there. It certainly doesn’t seem like our FO is in rush to get their guy or they’re putting to many restrictions on whoever is going to come in.
I think it was the hiring of Joe Schoen as GM. There is a good connection there. They’ve been working for the same team in BUF for 4 years and they helped build and coach a very good team in the Bills. It all adds up.
SB – some guy on Twitter has decided that if Daboll takes the Giants gig it’s because he doesn’t want to work with Tua, so that must be the reason.
See my reply above. I think my take is a lot more accurate. 🙂
I scolded that silly boy this morning. There are a ton of reasons to want to work for the NY Giants.
Absolutely! The Giants are one of the original franchises and they’re in New York. They have a lot of history and they have been to 5 Super Bowls since 1986. 4-1 in those games. We have not been to a Super Bowl in that time. Ironically Daboll grew up in the Buffalo area so he is a northeast guy. It all added up when you really look at it.
I think Daboll just didn’t want to move too far.
That’s why we both thought it was his time to become a HC. He paid his dues.
Absolutely, man.
OFFICIAL
Leslie Frazier might still be in play too. I know he’s not a favorite but he runs an aggressive defensive scheme in Buffalo. I think he would want to continue that with our personnel and the tape on what they do well. However it’s about being a HC and leader of the entire team. Not a guru of one thing. He’s been a HC and made the playoffs with MIN in 2012. Sometimes that 2nd time around is the right time. I like Frazier as a player and a coach. He’s definitely qualified. He’s been around this game for a long time. He’s seen what winning looks like too.
No thanks, he hasn’t called plays
He has, just not on offense. LOL
Lol
God I hope not.
Why?
Still curious to me as to why Dolphins are waiting until next week for 2nd interviews
They can’t interview any coaches during championship weekend.
They could have this week though
I think it’s really about McDaniel. I don’t think it will be Thomas Brown (Rams). Quinn went back to Dallas as a DC and Daboll took the Giants job. Kellen Moore fits into the same category as McDaniel, if we go with the young offensive coach. I think Frazier is in the mix as the vet option. There were reports that Ross didn’t sign off on Vance Joseph.
Why wait on Daboll though? Maybe they knew he preferred NY and set it up just in case Mc Daniels fell through?
I posted here Daboll would likely follow after Schoen was hired by the Giants. Made too much sense. Daboll didn’t even have a second interview scheduled here so it didn’t look good/ they probably knew he was headed there.
Felt the same way.
I don’t see it as a big loss. I don’t see any of these guys as being better than the other. I’m not confident that any if them will be better than Flores. Only way we’re better is if we fix the O-line and the new guy brings in a really good staff. Don’t see how any of these guys can accomplish that though. Harbaugh is the one outlier.
Hmmm….
Hiring head coaches is as much a crapshoot as drafting QBs.
And in our case the emphasis has been on crap
It’s about everyone being on board and talent is always the key. I think we have a good core of talent for a new HC to work with. Between FA and the draft, this team was going to have a turnover of about 15 players regardless. We have a lot of UFAs that are role and depth players. A good portion of that will change. We need 4-5 difference makers and to maintain solid depth. The young core players on the team have to take the next step too.
We’re not a joke or a crap team. We’re just not there yet. That was all of our opinions before we fired Flores. Nothing has changed with the personnel upgrades that need to happen.
2nd try
Is this a preview of this years SB halftime show?
When thinking about Leslie Frazier as our possible HC, think about how he used Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer with the Bills. Holland and Jones did the same stuff. If you want a guy to keep our defense in the same attacking mode, it’s him. The defense is the core of our team right now.
That said, I have no idea who the best HC should be. LOL
So let’s say our defense stays the same or gets a little better. What does Leslie Frazier bring to our offense, which is clearly the unit that needs a major upgrade?
I think the key is the OC, unless the HC is calling the plays. I don’t love the idea of a first time HC calling plays.
It all depends on who he has relationships with on offense. He’s been an NFL coach for 22 years with 7 different teams at 62 years of age. His first order of business would be an OC who knows what he’s doing. I don’t know who that is but I would think he knows some good coaches along the way. We as fans might not even know them.
I’m trying to make a case for a veteran football coach who knows what it’s suppose to look like. He’s seen what winning looks like. It’s not as if he’s the savior or anything like that. But we as fans seem to ignore a guy who has gotten a job every year in the NFL since he started coaching. The Head Coach job is about getting the message across to your players. It’s not about X’s and O’s. All coaches know what that is.
Offense/Defense/Special Teams. It’s the same game.
Excellent selection. The song is pretty good too.
Tim – it seemed as if I was asking for you to defend his hiring. I’m just afraid with any of these guys that they might not be able to assemble a quality staff and then of course I’m worried if they can handle running the whole show
I know he wasn’t too successful with Minnesota, and it’s been quite a while (9 years) since he’s been a HC. Why would it be any different now? Just scares me. Not that getting Harbaugh is a guarantee for success but the confidence level has to be higher with someone who just killed it his first time around. Problem is he isn’t even available.
Frazier has been there done that. Not a championship as a coach but as a player. But in the mix as a coach a few times and has won a little bit. Frazier knows more coaches in the NFL than McDaniel and Moore. If we go with one the young offensive guys so be it. I think Frazier will not hurt us because he’ll command respect right away.
At the end of the day it’s about getting the players to be their best. It’s not like Frazier is retarded when it comes to offense. He’s played and coached against it for a long time.
Flores was even greener than him and he couldn’t get the offense right but helped build a good defense in Miami.
I’m not worried about the defense. Our offense needs a new direction. That doesn’t mean a defensive coach can’t adapt. Every coach wants to score points.
Wyo – Bob Seger was awesome in concert, saw him somewhere around 1981
I love playing this song 🎸🎼🐕🥃🥃
Goodnight all! Snowy snowy Saturday!
Night Mike
I think this all means McDaniel is the next HC
If he wants it. Maybe he doesn’t feel like he’s ready then we’re fucked.
Could be, no idea. I tried to make a case for all the candidates we’ve been interested in.
I still hope whomever it is as HC we fucking rock!!!! 🙂
I’ll try it again
And I love playing this song as well.
Another one I love playing.
Phindog spinning the goodness. 🙂
Please no 62 year old Leslie Frazier
Thankfully as a fan, I can discriminate against age. Lol
Enjoy the snow storm/blizzard to you in the NE, I am envious
Same here!
BBM, you should and your wife should come to Wisconsin for a visit during the Winter.
Gotta love the cold and snow!!!!
Again
McDaniel and a brinks truck to deliver Davante Adams
I don’t mind the cold and snow etc. The issue is it’s so populated and people are so fucking stupid where I live I’m totally tired of it.
Bookman, I have family in north central Indiana (where I went to HS) I go visit but usually in the summer. Was just talking to my cousin this week and he wants me to come up and go ice fishing. May do that next week or 2.
I haven’t been up in Wisconsin in a long time around 94′, I think. Used to go fishing with a friend who lives in Green Bay.
I am about 20 minutes from Green Bay
Ok, I don’t want Leslie Frazier. I’d rather take a chance on a young guy. McDaniel is more enticing than 61 year old Leslie Frazier who couldn’t win his first time around and hasn’t gotten another chance in 9 years. I think we need an offensive minded coach to come here and fix our shit.
If Leslie Frazier comes in he will bring his own staff. Not thrilled with him either .
It’s so funny how people simplify things on Twitter to one directional thinking. Daboll chose the Giants because he likes Daniel Jones better than Tua. If Mike McDaniels takes the job here in MIA he likes Tua better than Trey Lance. There’s only one constant, it’s always solely about Tua. There are so many more more factors that play into these decisions, it’s maddening to see how small minded people are. If I was given a choice of working for the Mara family in NY or working for Stephen Ross in MIA, I’d take Mara and NY 10 out of 10. The Mara family had owned the Giants forever it seems. I don’t dislike Steve Ross like some do here, but the way he’s run this franchise doesn’t make a prospective HC all warm and fuzzy. Now the Giants have gone through GM’s and HC’s recently as well, but I’d still prefer Mara over Ross. If I went by roster alone, I think the Dolphins have the better roster and ability to improve that roster quicker, with the most cap space available and then multiple early picks again in 2023. The Giants do have 11 picks in this draft including two 1’s, two 3’s, two 4’s.
Anyone that thinks Daniel Jones is better than Tua is delusional. Daboll likely chose the Giants because they are a better organization than Miami with better ownership. Also we may not have chosen him. We have chosen McDaniel and just cannot hire him yet because SF is still playing which is what I think is happening
Did Miami even make an offer to Daboll?
I don’t believe we did
I don’t believe so. If Miami really wanted we could have made an offer. The more this plays out the more l think McDaniel is the guy
Then why say Daboll chose the Giants over Miami for any reason
He had 1 offer and took that offer
Can Dolphins fans stop being masochistic jerks. It’s getting weird.
We must suffer. We are not worthy
It usually plays out like this
Giants: we want you to be our HC, but we need an answer now
Daboll: a bird in hand…ok I accept
I remember when Fisher and Harbaugh both spurned Ross and the Dolphins. Nobody wanted to admit it then, but the rumors were that both potential Dolphins head coaches knew we’d select Tua years down the road, and they just didn’t want to associate with a QB that bad, even prospectively.
The Truth Is Out There
LOL 😆
LOL!
Troof!
I loved that show.
I love it when you post, even a couple of hit and run words, you bring people back from whatever whackjob path they may be going down, indirectly of course
Your presence is worth its wait in gold
We aren’t worry of you here, but thank you
If we had Josh Allen we would have been running him out of town too. I don’t remember thinking Josh Allen was going to be great after his first 2 seasons. Our fan base is hypercritical on our QB situation and lines are then drawn immediately if you don’t want to move on from that QB and give him a chance. I actually fucking despise the twitter jargon like “Tua stans”. That stuff is so childish and annoying.
Our fan base is pathetic about 80% of the Time
They are just crazy and social media just emphasizes
If we won a super bowl, they would all still complain
I don’t care if it looks naively optimistic, I’m glad we have a blog that isn’t full of people hell bent at making people as miserable as themselves
Why worry about those people, they are mostly ignorant and not the super fans that we are😉
If we had Josh Allen our D would stink, just like when we had Marino, that type of quick strike O isn’t complimentary football
But Tua can’t compete in the type of game the Chiefs and Bills played…see what I mean about complimentary football?
Tua would’ve taken us down the field methodically, not giving the opponents O another chance, while running out the clock. Debatable, but that’s the theory of why his style might be just as good, if not better
I don’t even know if I could say what Tua’s offense is at this point. He’s had 3 different OC’s in 2 seasons, 1 in 2020, and 2 in 2021. Without sufficient blocking and receivers that can get separation, I don’t think we’ve seen what Tua IS yet.
Tua is more at home with the quick passes, and the occasional mid range throws, when he has to get it downfield, when trailing big, he tends to be less careful with the ball
Things will change as his career moves forward, but right now he is a short passer
Steve – I don’t worry, but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t annoy me to look at Twitter and see the lines drawn and the necessity to choose one side or the other on just about anything and everything and the dumbest, not thought out at all conclusions people come up with.
Just like we had 3 finalists, Daboll likely had at least 2 teams he would accept from
Once he got that first offer, it may have been good enough
Just watched 20 minutes of 2021 Tua highlights
When I drive fast my head is on a swivel, in tune with everything around me, and when I feel safest
Tua plays QB the same way, he doesn’t sit back in the pocket and just stand there, he’s always scanning and aware of what’s around him, knowing when to step forward
Just a little more blocking, and some WR talent around him and he’ll be ready to win 13 games and in the playoffs
He’s not far off
Week 18 Tua gave KVN a jab step, near the LOS that was priceless, en route to about a 20 yard gain
All KVN could do was slap his hand together and say daaaaamn
Lol @ Cav, that was hilarious
I see that Damon Arnette was arrested last night, glad we didn’t keep him around.
Some things are not predictable
But this guy is less than 2 years away from being drafted
What kind of due diligence did the raiders do on him before they spent a first round pick?
The raiders should be furious about Maycocks decision to spend a first on him.
Yep, can’t say I’m surprised to read he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he was so out of control he was posting videos threatening to shoot someone during the football season.
Herd,
Great show. One of my favorite growing up. I tried to watch it again recently and it’s pretty dated now, or at least season 1 is. I didn’t get past that, lol.
I was fairly confident a few people on here would catch that without having to look it up. Pretty much everyone I knew watched it. 🙂
Wow. Tom Brady retired.
Woohoo go Bucs 😊
Wonder if Godwin will move south now?
Not buying it
It’s just PTSD Ken. He’s retiring.
He is going to pull a Favre or come out of retirement in October
I was hoping for Daboll but since that road has ended I am pulling for McDaniel now. I like lattes.
Gotta say, if he’s available, and we don’t even make a run at him, that would be hugely disappointing. C’mon Ross, go get yer boy!!!
Yup
It is curious all of our second interviews are taking so long
I said the same thing yesterday, it is odd
Well, I didn’t have to go into work today. Instead I was lucky enough to shovel out about a foot of snow off my driveway. It’s hard work, physically much harder than my job, but mentally it was a lot easier. No stress.
I wonder if he’s pissed that he didn’t get to announce it.
I knew it and so the drama begins
And to think I thought I would be watching tomorrow’s games without having to hear a Brady comment every other play. Bad enough with the commercials he’s in. 😤
The NFLN reported all day that Brady is retiring.
Ken – Just curious, would you prefer Mike McDaniel over Harbaugh?
I heard the other day that the Vikings were a landing spot for Harbaugh.
I saw that too. Whatever the case may be, I think it would be crazy if we didn’t make a push to get him. If he wanted complete control, meaning we’d have to axe Grier, I couldn’t find an axe fast enough. I’d rather have the proven winner over the nice guy in the building.
He might want to stay in the Michigan area. Minnesota is close. Maybe he and his wife like that area. Also the Vikings new GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is supposedly an analytics guy so maybe Harbaugh would have some personnel power as the X’s and O’s guy. I’m just thinking about why Minnesota is the team he’s interested in.
Tim – I’d give Harbaugh personnel power easy. Why not, he’s the one in the college game and knows the draftees better than anyone. I’m sure he could get up to speed very quickly on our current roster. It’s not like Chris Grier routinely knocks it out of the park. For all the picks we’ve had, he’s done an OK job at best.
I’m not debating Harbaugh vs. Grier. There is a reason that the Vikings seem to be the only team he’s interviewing with. It might be a preference for him.
That said, I don’t want a HC that is also the top personnel guy. It’s too much.
I saw some report from a guy and I have no idea who he is, saying Harbaugh is interviewing with the Vikings just so it doesn’t come off as Miami stealing Harbaugh from Michigan. It’s all a ruse. LOL
👌👍
Yeah, we can’t make him want to come here if he wants to be in the northwest. I just hope we try. We try and fail, so be it, that’s happened before
How about McDaniel, then bring in Cordarrelle, to be his Debo type.
It’s amazing how that kid just blew up after a few years of nothing
9 years and 5 teams and all of a sudden he’s a RB. He’s been an excellent KR during his career but as a WR he really struggled.
Tim – I saw that as well. That would be a ruse I could get behind!
I’m sure you would. LOL
Unless somehow we end up with Harbaugh as the wild card, it seems like it’s going to be McDaniel, Moore or Frazier.
But since we still haven’t hired anyone, it seems that McDaniel is the target.
Mike, you got a foot of snow? It was windy, cold and nasty here but only 4-5 inches.
Just went to the local airport here in Appleton. They are now an Allegiant hub. Non-stop flights to Lauderdale starting in March. 🙂
You’re just hanging out there?
It’s kooky crazy nuts here on a Saturday night! Lol! I have a pick up to make.
Ahhh… Doper! Toothead! Nose candy! Coke!

———————
It’s not so much that I am endorsing McDaniel but it’s more like I hate Harbaugh and think he is a cancer to any organization he joins. So I would chose McDaniel over Harbaugh
Flores was fired for the same thing that got Harbaugh fired in SF. There were veteran players who didn’t like how he talked to them. One vet OL I can’t remember his name said publicly he wanted to punch him.
