Chris Grier is clearly the Top Dog, The Big Man, Numero Uno Honcho, The Head Cheese. This is his ballgame, at least for this season. He’ll be responsible for our draft, and for choosing wisely in the 2022 Free Agency period before and after the draft. Whomever is hired as Head Coach will have the understanding that Chris Grier, at least for the moment is the man with the power and the final say on personnel decision making. He will accommodate his new Head Coach, but he will not be overrun by him. The Dolphins should be able to fill some huge holes in Free Agency, otherwise known as “Overpaying Contracts”. It doesn’t matter, we have to spend money, and we will. If we overpay, so be it, it’s expected. Besides having a few key positions of need, we have our own free agents that need to be taken care of. Let’s put it this way, we don’t need to save for the future, we need to get this team right now. Fix the biggest issue, which is the O-line and then work at giving Tua some upgraded weapons at RB and WR, not necessarily through Free Agency, but both Free Agency and the NFL Draft. Our first pick will likely be one of the last 3 picks in RD 1, and Grier needs to hit on that one. He no longer has an arsenal of multiple first, second and third round picks, and for a change we’re making our first selection at the end of the 1st round, but unfortunately not because we won a playoff game.
To address re-signing our own guys, the most obvious target is DE Emmanuel Ogbah. His market value is slated at $10M per year but I’m thinking more like $12-14M. Either way, he’s priority number one. Mike Gesicki will be a curious situation to keep an eye on. We know Gesicki is a talented receiving TE, and we also know Chris Grier selected him in RD 2, pick #42 in 2018. He’s had a nice career as a Miami Dolphins TE, not as good as I expected though. I still feel like he was underused here. I’d have thought he’d be the most dynamic receiving TE in a Dolphins uniform but that still belongs to former TE Randy McMichael. Randy Mac finished his first 4 seasons with 221 receptions, 2456 yards and 15 TD’s. Slightly behind is Gesicki with 199 receptions for 2255 yards and 13 TD’s. I truly thought Gesicki’s totals should have been higher. Twice in McMichael’s first 4 he was targeted over 100 times, Gesicki finally did that last season, but the caveat there is it was a 17 game season. Like I said, underused. My next guy is Nik Needham. I love this kid, and I hope we consider him an important part of our team. The 25 year old defensive back has played anywhere and everywhere and has played well. He’s averaged 50-60 tackles per season and has 6 INT’s in 3 seasons. He also has 23 passes defensed. He’s a team player and an unselfish one. The next player I want to re-sign but more for depth is LB Elandon Roberts. He’s a strong 2 down run stopper as we have seen for the last couple of years. TE Durham Smythe is another player we should re-sign, and I believe it’s possible Smythe is signed before Gesicki and possibly instead of Gesicki if Gesicki’s price is too steep. We MUST also re-sign ST’s ace and WR Mack Hollins. He’s a high priority re-sign as well.
OK, now on to the rest of the NFL’s potential castoffs. We need a huge upgrade or 2 on our O-line. We can address one or both in FA, and I can almost guarantee you that we will be spending a good amount on at least one of the top tier offensive linemen. To quickly reiterate, I’m not convinced we’re going to be looking for a tackle, although the argument for one can easily be made. My belief is still that Austin Jackson can be our LT and Liam Eichenberg can be our RT. That would indicate we’d be looking for interior OL, either 2 guards or a guard and a center. I think the latter is more likely. Brandon Scherff and Andrew Norwell are the top OG’s, but the guy I had mentioned weeks ago and still prefer is 49ers LG Laken Tomlinson. He plays every game every season and would solidify the left side and help young Austin Jackson at LT. I like Robert Hunt at RG so I’d prefer we look for an OC. The pickings are slim unless we’re looking for a C over 30. The Detroit Lions lost their star OC Frank Ragnow early on and turned to former NYG and former Dolphin C Evan Brown. Brown had a great season starting 12 games for the Lions. He’s a FA and just 25 years old. Ted Karras is another option. He played OG last season for the rival Patriots but as we all know, he played C for us here in 2020 and played well enough. Who knows if Karras would be willing to come back. If wellok at OT, Terron Armstead would be tops, both in talent and $$$. Cam Robinson from the Jaguars would be a younger and less expensive option. I hope we don’t look for an OT as I’ve mentioned.
Besides the O-line, we need to upgrade our WR corps. I don’t want top tier, address the best in the draft, but a nice 2nd tier WR is possible. We’re not a Davante Adams away from the SB so spend wisely here. Christian Kirk from the Cardinals is a nice talent. Others here have fallen for Byron Pringle of the Chiefs. I worry a bit about those 3rd, 4th and 5th option guys. Plays break down in KC and Mahomes is flushed and the defense naturally rolls to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce so of course guy like Pringle will either be in single or coverage or even possibly uncovered. We kind of saw the same thing with Sammy Watkins when he was with the Chiefs. Now Kirk played mostly in the slot, but he’s young and talented. D.J. Chark is a guy who has feasted on the perimeter and is a big bodied, agile player. 6’4 200, coming off a fractured ankle injury which should affect his playing career. He’s a 4.34 40 guy with a tremendous 40″ vertical. I’d say Chark would be number one target at WR, he’s been productive in a less than ideal offensive situation in Jacksonville. There’s also JuJu Smith-Schuster who had tremendous early success in his career at Pittsburgh, but has since been pushed back into the shadows by receivers like Chase Claypool and Dionte Johnson. Could a change of scenery jump-start JuJu? JuJu is a tough, fight for the ball type of receiver with less than ideal speed but good athleticism and ability.th Chark and Juju are only 25.
I’m going to cover the 2022 NFL Draft and in particular our needs in a future article. For now I’m going to leave you with my Free Agency wants, since there is Free Agency before the draft, and then of course, after the draft where a whole host of players are released and then become available once teams shuffle their rosters post draft. We’re one of the top 5 in cap space available so if we choose not to take my advice and go out and spend top money, we have it at approximately $67.5M. Let’s hope our guy Chris Grier gets the first part of the equation right so we go into the draft with better flexibility to make this team better.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

KC is really good at the coin toss
I know they have good steaks in KC but…
Dropped Apple
Wild game!!!
Wow is apparently a duplicate comment 🤷♂️
Mixon was never touched down and dropped the ball
Wow!!!!
Great job Cincy !! 🎉🎉
Go Rams
That was a quick rebuild for the bengals
That is what happens when you have a great QB. It accelerates the timeline.
They’re a lot more than just Burrow. They have really good talent on both sides of the ball.
lol what a choke job by the Chiefs
Unbelievable
I want the Niners to win for Dar but I want Stafford to finally have his time after toiling in Detroit for so long
I agree with the second half of your comment
🤡🤷♂️
😳
Wow Dougie Fresh, you’re going to outwardly root for the Rams?
Yes sir I am … I just read her your comment, and my response…
She said OUCH , you are really gonna hold a grudge from Montana over Marino ?? I said YES I am
Dave Hyde
@davehydesports
Former Dolphins OC/QB coach Zac Taylor is Cincy head coach; former Dolphins secondary coach Lou Anarumo is def coordinator; and former 6th round pick Isaiah Prince is right tackle. Conclusion: One Joe Burrow changes any franchise
LOL Toba, might want to sleep with one eye open tonight. 😜
So you say the Rams are winning ?? 😎
I do grip my pillow tight
🎼exit line…off to never never land…🎼
I cheered for Ravens vs 9ers , I cheered for Chiefs vs 9ers , and will be cheering for Rams vs 9ers … and cheering Cincy vs whoever
I don’t get where Michigan was a pool of talent. Especially on offense. The last 5 drafts they have only had 8 offensive players drafted in the 4th round or higher. Four of the eight were OL and only 1 offensive player was drafted higher than the 3rd round, OC Ruiz. In the last 5 drafts, there were no Michigan QB’s drafted and only 1 RB drafted in the 6th round. The other 4 offensive players drafted, other than OL in the first 4 rounds were WR’s drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds. None are starters in the NFL.
They only had 7 players drafted in the first 2 rounds over the last 5 drafts.
That is not a huge talent pool. To me that is coaching.
Dolphins beat writers love to stick it to Dolphins fans. None of those things he said add up to anything. Burrow covered up a lot of the ugly on that team. They have a good offense, they can run block, Mixon is a top 10 RB, Chase a top 5 WR and Burrow a top 5 QB.
Tee Higgins is also a big reason they are where they are. The media loves to slop on the QB’s balls but this team is about a lot more than just Burrow.
They have three VERY good receivers
Don’t forget their OL is slightly better than ours, slightly. lol
Yeah but they have skill players better than ours too. This game was not just about the Bengals offense though. Their defense stopped the bleeding.
The Bengals defense also shut the Chiefs down in the 2nd half. Trey Hendrickson is an awesome pass rusher. They all won this game and helped get this team to where they are.
I’m rooting for the Rams to lose because screw them for losing that game in week 18, lol.
Oh yeah well the Jeys beat the Blues yesterday 🤪😝
Or Jets
lol, I just saw that score about 10 minutes ago and thought to myself “huh, Toba didn’t give me any shyte yet…”
😊
All that stuff I said about tech? Well fook that. When you’re stuck in the cattle car section, you got nothing. Oh, the inequity! I’m going to join the Hulk on the lib side!
It ain’t fair. I got stuck in the “Main Cabin” when they rescheduled my canceled flight.
So Ken despises Harbaugh, some of you are all in with him, and some of us are kind of like whatever. Just win baby!!! That’s all I care about. 🙂
Put me in the whatever group even though I was trying to backup what he did at Michigan.
Miami beat writers with some terrible takes after the Cincy win.
As for Harbaugh….I’d prefer not having that psycho.
Oi…. You and the Hulk!
Never liked him. His shtick wears on everyone after a year or two.
Is there a score yet in game 2?
Nope
Well technically yes it’s 0-0
F\riddin’ Canuck…
I may want to slow down on the Old Fashions…
Ya know someone would have corrected me 🤷♂️
End of 1st 0-0
TD Rams , Kupp
TD 9ers Deebo .. tied at 7-7
They say elephants have great memories
And giant schlongs. What are we talking about? LOL
I am speaking to the wisdom of a certain elephant on this blog
I thought he was a rider? 😉
He and his animal are one
I’m so glad they picked up that flag. That was a beautiful hit.
Yep! Aikman was all over it.
What happened on the play at the end where the Bengal put the ball on the ground, but wasn’t touched.
He ran , he stumbled , without being touched he went down , spun the ball and walked away .. one of the chiefs players appeared to be picking up when they went away … KC called time out they were looking at illegal formation , but that is not reviewable… Cincy ball 1st down
I’m guessing no one in stadium noticed he had t been ya miles or knocked down
Wow,, tackled or knocked down
How could they miss that?
I guess they assume someone lose to him made him stumble , but the closest guy never laid a hand on him
We don’t have to sign OL in FA who are the most expensive, well maybe one really good one. But how about a couple who are solid pros with a lot of starts. Most of our guys do not have that.
Googled Mike McDaniel hc interviews and only Dolphins came up
Is he ours, if we want him?
I think it’s him or Harbaugh.
I’ll take either
Just saw him first time today .. he is an odd looking dude
Phelon 10-7 9ers at 1/2
For Ken. 😉
I think
We all know the way things are going for us, SF is going to win this game and we are going to end up with either the last or 2nd to last lick on the draft
Oh no! You can’t find players like Joe Mixon, Tee Higgins, Deebo Samuel and Jevon Holland in the 2nd round which is basically the same range. 😉
TD Kittle.. 17-7 9ers
End of 3
Thanks for the updates for those of us not on the planet. LOL
Phelon was on a plane
Whicy I guess is not on the planet
Oh didn’t realize you were giving him updates. Carry on. 😉
The 49ers are a physically tough team. It’s always a grind playing them.
Funny we kicked the shit out of them last year.
Yep!
Not play calling exhibit A
I noticed the same thing and was encouraged to see it
I don’t know if he is involved in playcalling but he’s very involved in what they do in and out of the game
Kupp TD 17-14 9ers
I want that ring too!
9ers were decimated with injuries and Covid last year
I love this SF offense
Me too
And I have our Deebo all picked out too
I mean SF has a mediocre QB nothing special at RB 2 good WRs, 1 good TE and a solid OL and they move the ball
Main point : solid OL and they move the ball

That’s two INTs Ramsey has dropped
Beer 🍺 monkey 🙊
🍻😎
Difference between X and Ramsey is X makes those picks. That is 2 today he should have had
Aikman can’t hide how much he hates the 49ers
My Niner fan buddy always complains about how many Niners games get called by Aikman because he so clearly dislikes them, lol.
He called their last drive abysmal
I mean it wasn’t a good drive, but that’s a little rough in this defensive game
The QB play has not been the story today. What about the rest of the team? Just saying!
2 good defenses now
This one is a slobber knocker
That’s what she said
Look how quickly Kupp accelerates
I always hear overachiever, gritty, tough and all that about him
But look how quick he accelerates
He’s a YAC Beast
Is that a beast that coughs things up?

Wife was saying same about Romo in 9er game last week
Jimmy G doing his Kyler Murray impressions
I’m not going to blame garrapolo lol for that
I will,, that was butt fumblish
Well yeah it was horrible but he was about to take a huge sack on 3rd down and the RB probably should have caught it too
Wow, that was a game changer. 😂
Pretty amazing last two weeks of football.
5 out of 6 games were won on the last play of the game (and it’s not like this one was a blowout).
3 OT games out of 6 games.
Largest margin of victory was 6 in the Bills/ Chiefs OT game.
Garo Polo’s luck finallyy runs out, after throwing several up for grabs
Steve I posted the link to Mixon OT non fumble up the page 34 mins ago
And now we know when we pick! 😉
And who our coach will be
Woot woot.
And maybe we get a HC now??????
Let’s hope so
I’m tired of waiting
Rams win !!!!
At least you have the right position, no idea whose who yet, other than what has been posted here
Before the season started I said, the NFL wants the Rams in the SB, because of how they favored them with the schedule, no teams coming off of a bye or Thursday games
What a shocker NFL, but yeah it’s just a conspiracy
Just wait if Raiders get in next year 🤔😱
They rarely give them an edge
Happy for Matthew Stafford
Ditto
Yep
Wife just took her 9er jersey off , threw it on the floor “stupid jersey”
Andrew Whitworth looks like Kingpin
lol
So we pick 29th. I was hoping for #28 because that pick changes our fortunes for the next 20 years. LOL
Let it go already, you’re beating this where we pick in the bottom of the draft thing to death. 😉
I’m just goofing around, man. We have 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 7 and 7 in the draft and the most cap space. We also have some good young talent to build around. The Bengals were 2-14 and 4-11 prior to this year. Don’t tell me it can’t turn around that quickly with the right group. It can happen.
Is it 29th or 30th? I thought 30 was the best we could get
Piggy, what about Burks in the 1st then double down on the 6’5 208, 4.38 Christian Watson at #100 or #117.
I saw your earlier post on him
He looks good.
It would be nice to get a WR who has some length and maybe replace Parker if he is gone next year or injured again in 2022
Brian in NY says:

That would be a win/win for us M13!
———–
I hadn’t thought of that, man! You aren’t wrong… WINNING!!! 😀
I think we will find out tomorrow about the HC one way or the other
I hope so. The longer we wait, the worse it will get.
My anxiety? Lol
It’s got to happen soon
To be honest without the Miami bias, I think the Dolphins have a higher ceiling than the Vikings moving forward. We should not discount our personnel on defense with our cap situation.
+100000000000, and that’s without a Miami bias, period. It’s the truth.
It 29th bc the chiefs have the 30th and the chiefs have a better record than the 49ers
Ok, thanks.
Friendly reminder: I am NOT the guy who wanted Jim Harbaugh to become our next HC (y’all have read me over the last month, I was for Daboll!)… but I AM that guy (y’all have read me!) who predicted that Harbaugh will be our next HC from about a month out, against all odds.
I hope we find out tomorrow, one way or the other: I’m tired of waiting.
You predicted a hunch. That’s not difficult to do. If you miss on that nobody cares. If you got it right, do you want a cookie? LOL
Lol, that is like something Rickles would say!! My favorite comedian
I only want cookies for my rookies, LOL 😀
So did the Harbaugh interview take place in secret today? There is all of this talk about him coming here but to the best of our knowledge he hasn’t even had an interview.
To be continued… tomorrow!
They’re communicating through the Donny and Marie microphone in the late 70’s. LOL

That’s FUNNY! Was just talking to a friend today about Don Rickles… and how HARD he went after President Reagan (I believe it was at an inaugural ball… I couldn’t believe it!), but that was just his style. And actually, Reagan LOVED it!
Yes, Rickles was pretty hard, but VERY funny!
CHEERS!
By the way, first interview I’d ever seen of Cooper Kupp came via the 700 Club (Pat Robertson). It was VERY good, and I think the world of that young man.
When people didn’t melt under some scrutiny. There was a time when people didn’t lose their fucking minds because someone told them their mustache or hairdo was fucked up. LOL
Do ya think we’ll ever return to such a time, Tim? I sure hope so, but modern culture doesn’t seem to favor as much.
Toba – Thanks for the updates.
I have made a restaurant/bar in Sioux Falls, SD. Having a Martini and listening to 4 20-somethings talk about cheer leading as a business opportunity. SBJ.
Lol, offer to become their agent 🤥
Like…totally!
Or their sugar daddy. But only if they don’t talk…2 hours of valley girl speak and I would be looking for the nearest bell tower.
Oh My gawd Fer Sure
This is the interview of Cooper Kupp that I referred, to Bookman…
Apropos of nothing….Trey Gowdy is about a Hitler looking mofo.
Talk to me! What’s up with that? Not sure I trust Gowdy any longer.
Dare I say, I consider Gowdy to be quite the RINO.
Just saw a pic. As I said…apropos of nothing.
Got ya, man. Thought perhaps you were going to go somewhere with that, and I’d have ya covered, 100%.
M13, whatever we all think about life on this planet, living in the USA is the best option if you have an option. Many of us were born into it. Maybe some have had it better than others but the USA is still the land of opportunity.
It’s still about FREEDOM!!!!
AMEN, my guy!!! Let it RING!!!

Toba – If not for the fact that they were a third my age and think cheer is a future, they would have been totally hot. Then again…my motto when I was single was “I’m not looking for my intellectual equal tonight.”
Kinda like admiring cheerleaders has become creepy at our age .. I hear ya .. well have fun anyways if that’s possible in Sioux Falls 😃
Sioux Falls is actually a pretty hip town. And what is “our age?” Pretty sure I’m 30-ish when I need to be…
My birth certificate does not reflect My age either.
The four divisional games and the two conference championships were decide by a TOTAL of 21 points. That’s insanity!!!!!
Oh stop with the football talk! We’re talking about cheerleaders now!
Maybe????

I am one of the following, depending on the situation. 4, 14 or 40. LOL
My general emotional age is 4. If there are boobies involved I am 14 and if there is finance involved I have finally reached the mature age of 40. (Than gawd, my accounts all say!)
LOL
4,14 or 40
Why do you guys think it’s so hard for a professional cornerback to catch a ball?
I think some DB’s have the mindset like X that the ball is theirs. I think other DB’s have the mindset to try and make sure the other guy doesn’t catch it, so when those guys get the ball in their hands, they’re not mentally prepared to actually catch the ball. My theory at least.
Because I have watched them. There is a reason why most of them who have the physical skills to be a WR or RB but they are not
There were 3 relatively easy ints dropped in last nights game
Really good receivers attack the ball
They never let the ball come to them
So when DBs happen to be in the right place for a ball to fall into their chest – they demonstrate the worst thing you can do when catching the ball – they sit passively and wait for the ball to arrive and it hits their chest and bounces off
Receivers will usually reset their position so that they can attack the ball with their hands instead of waiting for it to arrive
Sometimes you see DBs make incredible interceptions bc they are attacking it with those hands and jumping in the path of the ball
But when the ball hangs in the air and is about to fall into their lap, that’s when you see the drops
Receivers in the modern nfl are constantly training to catch the ball with their hands and not their body – even if the ball is right on the money and will hit you in the face of you do nothing, so they can adjust their bodies bc that’s what they do
DBs don’t practice for that
It ends up being muscle memory, receivers reset and attack the ball. DBs attack the ball when making a play on it – but when the ball is coming right at them, they rarely reset
Most of them don’t have NFL receiver hands, so they aren’t much different than us trying to catch a hot pass, and they don’t have the confidence either
Ever try to catch a 30 yard pass and start thinking about not dropping it?
Your hands are more like a goalies’, moving around, instead of snagging it
In contrast look at a guy like Diggs on Dallas who used to be WR. He is not particularly strong in coverage but if a ball in his area he can track and attacks it like a mofo
He makes ALL Pro based on the ints, but otherwise is a liability
There is something to be said about getting that many ints. I wouldn’t necessarily call him a liability but I will take X and Ramsey over him in a heartbeat
He is a liability, look at his numbers, they complete a high percentage of passes against him, every time I watch him he’s getting burned
Game on the line, ball on the Dallas 10, Rams driving, do you want him covering Cupp?
Dolphin sports writers complaining we didn’t tank hard enough to get Burrow, I hate our beat writers
We all laughed at the Jets for not getting Lawrence
I still do. I think Lawrence is going to be really good he was just in one of the worst situations imaginable with Urban Meyer in Jax
The hypocrisy of it all
They are so incredibly unprofessionally knee jerky
Yeah, they are worse than us. lol
But when we do it it’s ok?

@thecarm
Hearing from a reliable source Jim Harbaugh will tell the team today / tomorrow he is leaving to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Could have taken the Minnesota job. Preferred Miami. ( outside chance Michigan pays over the top and he stays ) but bet on Miami.

Best part of Harbaugh to the
@MiamiDolphins
is that Chris Grier won’t be making many personnel decisions if any… MAKE IT HAPPEN MIAMI #FinsUp
👍
How does he know?
Say that cause Grier seems to be on the control freak side.
So what to believe:
Lol, believe it when it happens, until then just have fun with it
Seems both Harbaugh and McD will be in the building today, and one will be our HC, don’t really care which one it is, as long as it is one of them
If Harbaugh is coming, who ends up on his staff? Vic Fangio was his DC when he was in SF.
Think Ross would suck off Harbaugh to get him in, so whatever Harbaugh wants
McD would likely leave the D in place
Just announce the guy already is what I want. I think if Harbaugh comes in with Fangio, that’s great and if McD comes in and leaves Boyer, but brings someone of substance as the OC, I’ll be happy with that as well.
I’d be ok with either too
Just don’t want a previous flop as an HC like Josh McDaniels or VJ and I don’t want a DC to be our HC
I’d have a problem with this hire
But there’s one NFL assistant coach out there who hasn’t been mentioned who would seem like a great candidate, someone with a proven track record of success, and someone with whom the Dolphins are very familiar.
That someone is Darren Rizzi.
The same Darren Rizzi, who was so highly thought of as an assistant that Joe Philbin kept him on the staff when he replaced Tony Sparano, and Adam Gase again kept him on the staff when he replaced Philbin.
SI
I like Rizzi and wanted him to takeover the last year Gase was here to see how he could do. I wouldn’t take him over Harbaugh, but I’d be interested in him getting a shot to compete with McD.
The taint of Philbin endures
I do think the longer this plays out then Harbaugh is the target. If McDaniel is the target it should be today or tomorrow at the latest
Does this mean that Vegas thinks it’s a certainty we sign Harbaugh?
a $200 bet will net you a profit of $100 ($300 payout)
