8 WR’s in this 2022 NFL Draft ran official times under 4.4 seconds. Everyone’s getting excited here because we know we need to add talent at the WR position, but I caution, NFL Free Agency precedes the NFL Draft so we have to see how we upgrade our team via Free Agency. We can go crazy over certain guys at various positions, all positions of need for our team like WR, OL, LB, RB and not necessarily in that order, but how we add to the roster in Free Agency will determine how we draft, and what positions will be a priority.
This Miami Dolphins fanbase has gone crazy the last few years because we’ve had so many high picks at our disposal (with mixed results). The top of last year’s draft appears to have been a slam dunk. Jaylen Waddle is the explosive WR we needed and he caught a high volume of passes last season. Jaelan Phillips really came on as the season progressed as a pass rusher. Jevon Holland was an absolute bright spot in the secondary as a safety and showed he is a playmaker. The next 4 picks are a work in progress although I do believe Liam Eichenberg will be one of our starting OT’s, most likely RT. TE Hunter Long had a rough year and didn’t make it easy for the Dolphins to move on from now free agent TE Mike Gesicki. OT Larnel Coleman got a shot game 17 and lasted only 1 half before coming out with an injury and RB Gerrid Doaks spent the season on the PS.
In 2020, armed with three 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, the Dolphins got only fair results for such a potential haul. QB Tua Tagovailoa was our first pick at #5, followed by young OT Austin Jackson at #18, and then DB Noah Igbinoghene at #30 who’s been invisible in 2 seasons. I’m higher than a lot of folks on Tua, and definitely higher than almost everyone on Austin Jackson. I’m almost willing to say with certainty that Austin Jackson will be our starting LT in 2022. If we address the O-line properly, and give Tua a running game and another weapon at WR/TE, easily done BTW, I think we’ll see a big leap in year 3 for Tua, maybe similarly to what the Bills saw with Josh Allen. Bringing in former Dolphins standout DB’s Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain is a welcome sight, and should be especially good for Noah Igbinoghene. Iggy is signed through 2023 and has a 5th year option for 2024 so he can potentially be under Dolphins control for another 3 seasons. It would be wonderful to get this kid right as he does have lots of talent. Pick #39 OL Robert Hunt has been a promising player on the O-line and looks to be perennial starter. DT Raekwon Davis (Pick #56) had a tough start being injured early but had a decent season and his size and athleticism is a plus. Safety Brandon Jones (Pick #70) had a breakout season and solidified his standing in the secondary. He was impressive doing all the things MFFF was supposed to do, blitzing the QB, playing up at the LOS making tackles. Jones had 5 sacks, 10 QB hits and 79 tackles last season 6 tackles for a loss. This does put fellow safety Eric Rowe’s future here in peril. The lone Dolphins left from this draft is OG Solomon Kindley who both Randy and I don’t believe is finished here either. He was a mauler in the run game in 2020 but was replaced by Liam Eichenberg at LG and eventually Austin Jackson when he was moved inside and Eichenberg to LT. He should be part of the rotation on the O-line because he’s a mover. If he can get himself in better shape, come in a little lighter and quicker, he could be that.
So as we watch the NFL Combine and drool over players, don’t fall in love my friends, because who we get in FA will give us an idea, and only an idea of which way we go in the draft. Odds are we will be filling our roster with a WR, OL, RB, LB in the draft regardless, but the key is what will be the priority and in what order will be looking for those players. Not to bore the heck out of you but I feel we must address the O-line with a minimum of one veteran that we can just put in a spot and consider that spot is taken care of. I said weeks ago, before we even hired former 49ers coach Mike McDaniel as our HC that OG Laken Tomlinson would be a good choice. Now with McD here it makes it even more likely. I know we like C Tyler Linderbaum, the top rated interior OL in this draft, but if we pick up say Ted Karras and Laken Tomlinson in free agency, it makes it less likely we’re going to spend pick #29 or even our next pick on the O-line. If we sign WR Mike Williams or some other starting quality WR then we’re not drafting WR Jameson Williams or any other WR with our top pick. You get the drift, be patient Dolphins fans, we’ll have a better picture on our draft approach once we complete free agency and get our roster remade. In any case, enjoy the combine, it’s always fun to picture certain players in a Dolphins uniform although we all know here most of them never materialize no matter how much we want them and project them here.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

On Van Noy, it also makes us look less stupid for letting him go
I think with KVN, he has lost a step as an OLB and does not possess the power to play DE.
true
That is a good point, Mike E.
I don’t agree with that. We could have used him last year. His contributions to a team are way more than numbers on the field.
I agree with MF13 above at 2.54pm.
I agree with basically all of what Ken says.
I agree with Herd above at 1.31pm.
Thank you, sir! I appreciate that.
I swear people read us.
https://phinphanatic.com/2022/03/07/miami-dolphins-seriously-consider-drafting-matt-araiza/
I’d draft him after our 101 pick. He is a weapon that can win a game or at least make it more likely that we win.
4th round and later is just backups at best; most don’t even make it, so getting the next Ray Guy is a valid use of a 4th round pick.
Depending on what we get in FA, I’d even support taking him at 29, since there will be plenty of good RBs and WRs available in the 2nd through 4th rounds where we have 4 picks.
McDaniel has shown he can win with UDFA or late round RBs, but a botched FG hold or a shanked 30 yd punt is points lost or gifted away.
If a guy breaks into your house and you hear him and run to your child’s room where some guy has slapped you child and when he hears you, the guy puts a gun at your kid’s head, you don’t try to jump him and wrestle with him. He’ll kill you both.
You try to stall for time and opportunity.
You hope he gets sleepy or hungry or scared or begins to see his sin.
You try to get his mom on the phone to help with that.
What we have is a hostage negotiation situation.
Sure you wish a sharpshooter could be deployed that could nail that fiend before he hurts your kid worse. but that takes time and maneuvering to set up.
You cut off the AC, tell him if he stops now he won’t get the electric chair, etc.
We need to do this type stuff, but in a bigger scale.
You have a smart, strong, brave kid who can help.
That’s the Ukrainians. (Home Alone, Viet Nam 2.0, Afghanistan 2.0)
Naples – what Biden said is I hope you don’t kill my kid, but if you do and try to kill my wife too I’m gonna do something about it.
Ukraine is your kid and NATO nations are your wife
I don’t know nothing about Nato
Correct. At the moment when you see the gun at the kid’s head, you know you might lose him. You hope you can hold it to a wound he recovers from.
But you have your gun out, and you have the bad guy bottled up so he can’t get to your wife, who, in your example, has a bunch of guns out in the family room, and she’s aimed at the hall to back you up.
This is also hostage negotiation science when they put like 50 police outside the house with orders to shoot to kill.
NATO nations have a lot of firepower to resist better than Ukraine.
Putin is not stupid enough to try to be an idiot like Hitler was.
…
If occupied for a while, the Ukrainians will be as docile as fireants and as easy to manage as alleycats.
Another from FANSIDED not even worth the read:
“WR Chris Godwin is the missing piece on the Miami Dolphins offense”
Are you kidding me? The missing piece? Dude just tore his ACL in week 16 and he is the missing piece. LOL
Maybe they meant to say that Godwin is missing pieces?
I see OT Orlando Brown Jr. was tagged by KC and now off the FA market.
LOL at this story back-fill meme…
LOL
LOL
I’d much rather draft whichever of those 4.4 40 WRs with a burn to be great that McDaniel thinks best fits his plan than sign a beat up has been WR to a fat contract and watch him coast into retirement.
WRs with fresh legs have a much flatter learning curve going from Big Time NCAA to NFL than most positions.
Ukraine is Europe’s kid, so this is really happening 4 doors down. Sure our kids play with Ukraine, and as parents we switch back and forth who is taking the kids to school.
Sometimes we’ll have Ukraine over for dinner and force him to eat brussels sprouts, and he’s a good kid – always eats them unlike our own little brats. Ukraine is very precocious, and has a good head on his shoulders…meanwhile we’re having impure thoughts about Ukraine’s mom because she’s hot and the dad works all the time. She’s there all alone, and we helped her with that leaky sprinkler last Tuesday and she made us feel good about ourselves.
France, who lives right next door sees everything happening in the neighborhood and gossips like an old lady, and now there are rumors about you and Ukraine’s mom. Germany tells your wife about the rumors, and now your wife is confronting you about it. You start going to couples therapy to discuss the problems in your relationship that you both never seem to have time to address.
So you start doing a weekly date night just to spend more time together. One weekend you and the wife go out to a bar, and into the bar walks a lawyer, a priest, and a rabbi…stop me if you’ve heard this one…
Lmfao!!!!!
🤣
Ah, man, we made the list of countries who have just been big ol meanies to Russia 😦
Regional power…with a nuke. It’s one of those biggest car with littlest dick syndromes….lol

Naples, I agree with your 2:35 post…lol

LMAO! Well played by both of you…
Lol
What a dumb ass. I guess no one is trading for him now
I made extremely unnecessary bets that got me suspended for a year and threatened my very lucrative livelihood. I don’t have a gambling problem, I’m just a complete moron…
(Granted I’m making an assumption in saying the bets were ‘extremely unnecessary’. There is always the possibility a terrorist kidnapped someone he loves and forced him to put $100 and take the points on the Niners/ Rams game- or something of that nature…)
so you are confirming that Herbert is better than Tua?
😉
Small sample size means nothing
And he bet on his own team during the season?!
Wow, I expected it was something like betting on the playoff games once his season was over. Even betting on his team to win, I’m surprised he only got hit with a year.
Some one reported that it was a hard year with futures to be announced.
Let me see if I can find that one
I guess that will kill any trade talk
Cav Kong
That short story is f’n hilarious.

“I don’t have a gambling problem. I have an IQ problem.”
Well he was out for a mental health issue
So I’m going to Denver in June (if it still exists then).
Anybody know anything cool to do there?
Eat Rocky Mountain oysters, Coors tour
I didn’t know there were fresh water oysters…so I looked it up…LOL
🤪
There’s not but You are going to want to pour fresh water down your throat after you eat them
Naples, visiting Red Rocks amphitheater is on our short list of places to see. It’s supposed to even be better than the Gorge in Washington (which was amazing). If you’re into outdoor concerts and events.
1/20/21
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) gained 0.4% or 116.26 points to close at 30,930.52. Notably, 18 components of the 30-stock index ended in the green while 12 in red. Moreover, the Nasdaq Composite finished at 13,197.18, surging 1.5% or 198.68 points due to strong performance by large-cap tech stocks.

What’s the blog’s cut?
We’re at least as important as the 5th TE.
Cav
Thank you, yes that sounds like fun.
I have tickets to two concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
On Monday it’s Taking Back Sunday and Third Eye Blind and on Tuesday it’s Trombone Shorty.
But I do not know about the Gorge in Washington (STATE?)
Is that also a concert venue?
Yep, The Gorge is in central Washington and it’s an amazing venue. It’s large enough for multiple stages and for the main stage at the back is a large grassy knoll with perfect views of the stage, to your left you look out over a vast gorge (surprise! lol) with wide open skies.
We’ve been to all the main amphitheaters on the west coast, and the Gorge is by far the best venue we’ve been to so far.
And that’s awesome you’ve already booked Red Rocks. You’ll have to let me know about your experience
The last day that all of us were on earth together was October 31, 2000.

Not sure if this was posted earlier…
All of that makes sense. If we franchise Gesicki we know there is a plan for him. I didn’t think we’d franchise Ogbah. He’ll test the market and he’ll probably give us a chance to match because he has made it known he’d like to stay in Miami. It’s going to be exciting to see what we do.
Yeah, can’t watch the pundits who never do their homework…blah, blah
Dumb mistake by Ridley but not sure where his head was at playing football anyway.
Pp…order of battle expert. Thank god you don’t know someone who leaks something to you that makes you so important that you can’t tell anyone but you let everyone that you know….lmao.
Lol…Lucky for me what I know is old and no longer the way it is. Russian order of battle is nothing like it was under the USSR. Corruption and, shitty morale and equipment are the same tho.
…that you know.
Fucked it up, but you get it…lol
Tim,
Yessir! I do hope we franchise Gesicki (tomorrow is the last day to tag him) and I’d heard Drew Rosenhaus say today that he isn’t ruling out Ogbah’s return to us.
So if we’re to target FAs for our O-Line, who do ya see?
Other than some of the names we’ve discussed as OL possibilities in FA, there is a good chance it might be guys they view as a good fit that aren’t really household names. It doesn’t mean they’ll be the highest priced guys, just proven pro level players.
I wanted names that YOU would like to see, man! Fair enough, though.
I think from a business perspective, it’s doable to keep both without going overboard. From a football perspective, I’d love to see them both back.
Ogbah’s gsme is on and he thrives in this D.
Gescki I see as untapped potential.
I will also accept that I’m delusional…lol.
You can be delusional (see your 8:35 PM post above), and I never once insinuated that I know what’s going on… NOBODY knows what’s going on in this fog of war. Apologies if I led you to believe otherwise, but I CAN tell y’all some things that are going on behind the scenes.
I absolutely agree with your football assessments, bud! We can retain Gesicki and Ogbah, and I hope it happens! 🙂
To be honest, I think we are all delusional, so no offense taken…lol. I just admit it in a coarse way.
TRUTH! I agree once again with ya, Krishna! 🙂
It’s the truth that we are all delusional in our own ways, in our own beliefs, and in our own ‘truths’.
Don’t get too excited! Some delusions are better than others…lol.
We ARE humans, and to err is to be human, after all.

This is also true! 😆
For instance, I sometimes (delusionally) think I still have a shot at getting with Shakira! Dare to dream!
Krishna,
What do you make of this Punter out of San Diego State (Rashaad Penny University), Matt Araiza? WOW!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3pNWGG19us
I think BBMike (as usual) was the first to acknowledge this guy on the blog.
Based on the combine they mentioned another punter I can’t remember his name but he has long hair as possibly being the best punter in the country.
I think he’s a weapon and game changer. He flips the field position and that’s always an advantage.
Not sure how that rates in today’s draft but have no problem with a mid draft pick. I would go earlier but at expense of ridicule.
One leg, his leg could change the outcome of a game….hmmmm
JMO, but I’d draft him as early as the 4th round… but I’m willing to bet he goes earlier than that.
O.J. McDuffie sits down with Wes Welker, Pat Surtain and Sam Madison. Good stuff!
This is cool, I’ll have to finish when the rain stops
YUP, YUP! That was VERY good! Thanks for sharing, Tim!
Man coverage is going to be a major part of our defense like we’ve shown the last couple of years. Apparently Josh Boyer is a big proponent of press, man, Cover 3 and Cover 0. As long as your pass rush and blitz can do their job, we have the talent to play that way. We’ve seen it. It’s tougher to play against that kind of defense than the easy throws against zone. All teams mix it up, but our scheme is man coverage and then when we do flex into zone, that’s when turnovers happen.
“Oh shit I thought I had that route, they dropped and there was a guy sitting there. Fuck!!!” LOL
^
M13, I actually don’t have a list of must names for FA. I want whoever it is we sign and draft to fit with what coach McD is looking to accomplish. I don’t know enough about OL across the league to say yeah or nay but guys in the game have studied the video. We know we’re looking for outside zone type guys. I just want to see it work. 🙂
Understood… and one of the reasons (outside zone) why I think Liam Eichenberg is going to be a force for us for years to come, whether it be at LT or RT.
Our young OL will probably be given a chance to compete to see if they can be a fit and progress. But we’re going to bring in new guys and nobody is penciled in just yet. We have to do that because we don’t know if we have enough talent with these young guys moving forward. In that video I posted, Welker touched on what to expect. He said the outside zone OL will be fast and physical but very detailed in their technique. Maybe 2-3 current guys currently on the team survive the revamp on the OL. I think it could be that much.
Last night I saw Three Dog Night, they played a free concert at Seaworld. One original member left, Danny Hutton, he’s 79 freaking years old and can still sing pretty good. The band sounds great and they’re not in their seventies, the guitar player is excellent. And it’s Three Dog Night you know every song. I was surprised at first how good they sounded and at how much I enjoyed it.
Huttons son is the Bass player, he’s really good. The drummer is awesome and the keyboard player plays a real nice electric piano. If they come around this summer it’s worth seeing they sound good.
Nice!!! Great band.
M13, one guy in FA I think would be a great fit for us is WR Braxton Berrios. He’s a Welker type who can do a lot of things for you. He helps you move the chains as a WR, can return kicks and punts, and also do some jet sweep and specialty plays. He’s a gamer entering his prime. He’s perfect for quick passes from Tua. Run the ball, hit quick throws with Waddle and Co. and set up some play-action deep throws.
Oh yeah it would also weaken the Jets. 🙂
Just wanted to share this with Son mentioning this band. I heard their hits for years growing up. Good stuff!
They played it. The only song the drummer sang. They played it faster than this.
Bands tend to play faster live. You’re all hyped up. It takes a lot of discipline and practice to play a song the way it should be played.
Love this one Tim
Dude they had so many hits. They were on the radio all the time when I was a kid, and it’s good stuff.
Coach McD if you haven’t seen it.
He comes off as that west coast easy going stoner dude. But when it comes to football, that’s not how he’s viewed. There’s no way a lot of these vet coaches and vet player coaches sign on if he’s a gimmick. Players he’s coached love the guy.
I think what we’re seeing is the guy at the mike and speaking to the media is very different than the football coach. He likes to be funny and playful. Coach McD knows what good football looks like and that’s when it’s serious. On the field.

Agreed. I don’t know if any 3rd or 4th round pick could be considered a weapon/game changer. Matt Araiza
could be that.
It’s being reported Shell is stopping its purchase of Russian oil….ouch. And, good for Shell.
Being that Shell was the biggest purchaser of Russian oil….
I wonder if shell companies of Shell are still buying Russian oil
Three Dog Night was a great 70’s band, and like you said, they had so many great songs.
Love three dog night. An underrated band I also love is Badfinger.
Another good 70’s band. “Day after day” one of my faves
English muffins are totally underrated
I agree. I spread some mashed avocado on there then put some crumbled bacon and top it with a poached egg. Other times, I just go with some peanut butter, but you have to put it on there when they are hot so it kind of melts then top it with strawberry preserves.
Yum!
Man, Florio just has this seething hatred for the Dolphins. It’s just one hit piece after another.
I’ve seen this bad take all over the internet. People are stupid.
He assumes Ridley had no inside info, but he actually made the bet, unlike Ross, that games weren’t actually tanked, and it’s in the code of conduct no betting on NFL games
Don’t even watch his videos, just a bunch of trash, he hates the Fins like Skip Bayless loves Dallas
29.Kenneth Walker RB Michigan State
50.Jalen Tolbert WR South Alabama
101.Damone Clark LB LSU
120.Skyy Moore WR Western Michigan
124.Jeffrey Gunter EDGE Coastal Carolina
158.Dawson Deaton OC Texas Tech
199.Cordell Volson OT North Dakota State
222.Matt Araiza P San Diego State
The 1st 5 are great.
Don’t know those OL, will take your word for it.
If the P is there in the 7th that’s a no brainer.
Great wedding present!
YAY!
Very smart move
And the key word is “TE”
Awww, I just love them all!
It Herd’s day around the world!
Happy International Women’s Day!

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for “maximum restraint” in Ukraine, saying Beijing is “pained to see the flames of war reignited in Europe.” That’s according to Chinese state media. Xi’s comments, in a virtual meeting with French and German leaders, were thought to be his strongest yet against Russia, a key economic and strategic ally of China.
He’s either just playing the game, saying what people want to hear or he really doesn’t want Russia to get more powerful
saying what people want to hear
—————
That’s my guess. Taking Ukraine won’t make him more powerful. He knows this is going to weaken Russia.
Before it started, he was probably in Putin’s ear saying, “Yeah, do it. I got your back.”
AAAAAAAH a FB!
Get him here.
He was a Pro Bowl alternate this year but must have been as a blocker because he does not seem to give teams much more than that. Only 17 carries in 6 years with 4 TD’s. Only 5 carries in last 3 years with an average of 1 YPC. Also 27 rec in 6 years with 1 TD.
Maybe he wasn’t used properly
Could be.
They must feel good about resigning Ogbah then.
Glad Gesicki is staying, that’s smart business.
Last I read, they are willing to let him test FA.
I saw the same thing
So much for Gisecki not being McDaniels type of TE
How much is the tag on Gesicki? 15 milly?
11
The Dolphins and Mike Gesicki now have until July 15th to work out a long-term deal or the tight end will play under the franchise tender which is worth 10.931 million.
Awesome!!
Would be nice, if they can sign him longterm, a little incentive, players hate being tagged
Don’t want to know what it would cost to sign him next year to a longterm deal
Thank you NFL for the TE designation
I thought the tag would be higher. 11 million isn’t bad at all.
👍 works for me
“There are multiple ways to use players,” McDaniel said. “We’ve had tight ends in our history that have been featured pass catchers. We have no problem, hesitation or concern in Mike being able to block.”
No brainer to tag Gesicki over Ogbah, just on price
But we still need to get Ogbah signed
On to Smythe, you’d think this system fits him perfectly
Signing somewhere else for more money, than he could get in Miami, doesn’t mean he’ll actually make more
I hope he realizes how he fits and has a better chance at a longer career in Miami, hence more career earnings
Don’t think players consider this, but they should and the team should tell them, their agent won’t
I really hope they resign Smythe. He was, BY FAR, our best blocking TE.
Is it a tag and trade smoke screen? Quite a few teams would jump at that price.
Hope not, but you never know, if both sides are far off on the terms
Not saying that was their intention really, but a team could come along and make an offer that is really good.
The Buffalo Bills also reportedly have given slot receiver Cole Beasley permission to seek a trade, with the likelihood he’ll be released if nothing is consummated over the next two weeks.
Dolphins single-season receptions record-holder Jarvis Landry also is believed to be a potential cap casualty in Cleveland and should be worth considering at the right price if he becomes available.
Among the top pending UFAs who could or should be available on the free agent market, names to consider would include Allen Robinson (though he’ll be expensive), Christian Kirk, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Isaiah McKenzie and Cordarrelle Patterson, with the last one possibly coming in to be used in a Deebo Samuel type of role.
Beasley or Berrios would work for me, they’d come relatively cheap and would be quality additions with a good chance of a lot of catches
Also would go after Cordarrelle
Beasley is 32 but looked like he still had some in the tank. Especially against us. I would probably go with Berrios. He seems to be ascending after his injury his rookie year. Though a 2 year deal on Beasley would not be bad. They both are tough.
Like Patterson the weapon.
I think Landry and his ego, though a good football player, would still want to much money.
Landry, Berrios and Beasley would all be great in our O, agree on Landry being expensive, but you never know
Drew is sure not burning any bridges with Ogbah
I dig 3 dog night but I remember not too long ago people along the boardwalk in Hollywood beach on a certain Friday night was digging 1 Dog night 🐕🎸🎼🎼
Oh and Jeremiah was a bullfrog !!
🐕 Joy to the world !!
Wish list
Get Gesicki signed longterm
Get Ogbah, Duke and Smythe signed
Sign FAs Janovich, Beasley or Berrios, 2 pretty good OL,
Mariota, and an ILB that’s pretty good
I agree. After all that, Patterson would probably cost too much. Also, he has stated he would love to finish his career in Atlanta.
Forgot about him for this last post, I’d add him to it
They all say they want to stay, but can’t see how he really feels that way with Matty about done
I would bring Duke Riley back as one ILB for depth. I like his quickness. He did well and that was only 1 year in our system. I would also look at Alexander from the Saints.
Let’s get Mack Hollins back.
Are we going to be the 2021 NE for the 2022 free agency?
We can be, we have the resources
Can Mickey D persuade the FAs?
I have no idea if his numbers a right or not?
SPOTRAC has already updated and says we have 50.3 mil left.
When they talk about clearing out more money, Rowe comes to mind first. His dead money is only 525K and would save 4.5 mil.
He would be my first cut.
Allen Hurns another, with only 433K dead money and save another (over) 2.5 mil.
That’s a quick 7 mil right there.
Gesicki still had to agree and sign.
Agree to the TE tag.
nice write mike. I would like to see Landry and waddle together. That would be a pretty dope combo.
I like DT Adam Butler he plays all out when he is in there in relief, but he has no dead money and would save another 4.15 mil.
Another thing about Butler is he almost makes twice as much as Seiler and Seiler is the starter.
I think we need to bring back Isiah Ford as well. All that guy did was show up when his number was called.
Ford has always picked up our late night booty calls. Lets just hope he doesn’t find a new boyfriend.
Oh shit, how’d I miss Jesse Davis. He would be a 1 mil cap hit but save 3.6 mil.
Who is the best RT in FA?
1. Terron Armstead, T, New Orleans Saints
5. Duane Brown, T, Seattle SeahawksG
8. Trent Brown, T, New England Patriots
11. Jason Peters, T, Chicago Bears
16. David Quessenberry, T, Tennessee Titans
17. Cam Robinson, T, Jacksonville Jaguars
Armstead is a LT and probably cost close to 20mil. Was high on Trent Brown but he is not a fit for this wide zone and toward the end of the season he was playing like his heart wasn’t that into it or he was wore out. He is good in pass pro but not very athletic to run block in this scheme.
Just not sure really.
One Dog Night – that’s awesome
Not sure how they feel about TE Cethan Carter. He has no dead money and would save just over 2.5 mil.
Just those 5 players (Rowe, Hurns, Butler, Davis and Carter) would clear about 17-18 mil.
I approve of this message.
That’s about enough to sign Armstead!!!
Why would we pay 20m for an LT with a left handed QB?
We can pretty much do what we want in FA, cut guys we want to upgrade or in Rowe’s case pay a backup as a backup, push cap money into future years, there’s 10 or so camp folders on the current top 51, so some net savings once we sign FAs, sign Gesicki longterm which would lower his 2022 cap number
The administration is going to announce a ban on Russian oil imports today. Or at least are wide-spread reports that it will.
That’s good for the war, but what is it going to do to crude oil price?
When you cut a supplier you need to get it from somewhere, are they going to open the pipeline up?
Of course not, because they want the price of oil sky high, so people will buy electric cars
Do you approve of this climate control stance?
No, and what pisses me off even more is this administration is happy about it. Straight from Jen Psaki’s mouth yesterday.
Obviously it is going to raise the price of crude, but we all knew that in considering whether it should be done or not.
And it won’t be popular with some here, but I am for all a higher price of energy, even if would prefer via taxes that can be rolled back into roads, bridges and such. It is still cheap here compared to say Europe. People adapt to that. Remember last time gas prices spiked and walking through a huge lot of unsold Jeeps. Not everyone needs to drive an SUV, even if we got one for like $8,000 off list while Geos, etc were selling at a premium.
What would like is exploring clean alternatives, in the shorter term especially LNG. While we need to become green we will be largely a petrochemical society for our lifetimes.
I would have opened the pipeline, but as understand it the debate on that was mostly psychological and symbolic. What was involved was a drop in the proverbial oil bucket and just took it as that.
How about the real clean alternative nuclear?
Until they start using it all these other alternatives, that aren’t really clean are just a line of BS
I’m fine with more nuclear.
We were oil independent just over a year ago and even an exporter.
And that was during the Covid crisis when their was a huge drop in the demand for oil and gas. Not always a 100% correlation to who is pres.

Steve, my only thinking on Armstead was to be our LT and move Eich to RT. He was better there before being moved and replacing Jackson at LT.
Just kind of throwing shit out there. lol
You are a cap guy, so thank you for reminding me about all those futures players who won’t make it. Thay are all over 800K with no dead money.
👍
damn Rodgers resigned with Pack … i was hoping to get him as a backup for Tua.
LOL. I knew he would. He is truly learning from his mentor Brett Favre as to create off season drama
Some basic energy facts:
The Keystone pipeline is open and has been for a long time.
The Keystone extension pipeline is not open and is only 8% complete and is years away from completion. Construction was halted on it by the order of the SCOTUS in July 2020 when Trump was President and has not resumed since.
Also in 2020 Trump specifically requested Russia and OPEC to reduce oil production. A reasonable step at that time because US oil companies were getting crushed by the huge demand as a result of the COVID pandemic. Production remains at the same level while demand has increased as the world emerges from the COVID pandemic thus being a major driver of the recent price spike.
The current administration is trying to address the shortage by approaching OPEC and countries such as Iran and Venezuela to increase production to make up for the shortfall
The drop in demand in 2020 due to COVID ^
Long-term energy production and use policy is critical, but only in the long-term. Really talking a decade or at least a number of years rather than a year.
The Trump energy policy was an astonishing economic success story. By January 2021, exactly a year ago and Trump’s last month in office, for the first time in nearly 50 years, the U.S. was producing more oil than we were consuming. We imported no net oil from Saudi Arabia and the OPEC cartel nations. We were also producing more oil and gas than the Russians and the Arabs.
Free at last.
Biden has come into office, and after one year, we have seen a 4% surplus of domestic oil and gas production fall to a 4% oil and gas deficit. We have gone from energy independence back to energy dependence. This is because Biden has declared war on American energy.
He has killed pipelines and reversed almost all of Trump’s pro-drilling policies. In early January, Biden stopped drilling on hundreds of thousands of potentially prime oil fields in Alaska. He is obsessed with climate change, so he loves wind and solar power and electric cars that don’t use gasoline. But under even the most optimistic assumptions, we will be getting the majority of our electric power, heating oil and transportation fuels from fossil fuels for at least the next 25-30 years.
Did you blame Trump when US oil production got crippled in 2019 and 2020 cause of the oil price crash? I didn’t. Oil prices went as low as $20 a barrel and US production adapted to that. Then came the decreased worldwide demand cause of Covid. Our production still did not ramp up. I don’t blame Biden much for that either. It is market forces largely beyond a president’s control.
Am also quite confident US production will be increasing now that we are out of Covid and with the Ukraine War causing higher global prices. But there is a long lag in that. See where we are a year from now.
I put blame on intent coupled with action
Biden on day one’s intent was climate change, so yeah I blame him with his executive orders for current and future drilling
Also give him some blame for this war
But did you blame Trump for US oil production getting crippled under his watch. You must remember the mass layoffs of oil workers. Wyoming sure wasn’t happy. That directly relates to what is going on now, much more than any change in policy over the last year.
And again, I don’t blame Trump for that. But still happened while he was Pres. Goes for the decrease in demand cause of Covid too.
My guess is no
For some presidents (Aka Republicans) it’s the market
For others (Biden) it’s the policy of the administration
You know how this works by now.
There certainly isn’t a dramatic increase in Oil imports under Biden
https://www.statista.com/statistics/487440/united-states-crude-oil-imports/
And shutting down the 4th phase of construction of the keystone pipeline, while the other 3 phases remain active doesn’t affect oil production at all
We’ve been through this before. Watching trump voters tell everyone how bad Biden is and how great Trump was is like a National past time now. People need to convince themselves what they already believe I guess
Mass layoffs because of covid?
Decreased demand cause of Coivid is why US oil production did not ramp back up after the oil price crash.
Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come. 💰

Damn, $50million a year to lose in the playoffs.
It’s the $153M guaranteed that gets me. Packer’s are on the hook for a 41 year-old QB at that price in year 3 of the contract.
Wasn’t the main reason we suddenly had a surplus in oil because of the much lower demand from everyone staying home? Far fewer commuter miles being driven, far fewer long road trips as vacations were postponed, cruise ships all docked, no driving to bars and concerts, even football games played to empty stadiums, 80,000 people not driving times 32 teams times 16 weeks plus most colleges canceling games or not allowing attendance, as well as all the other sports, etc. etc.
Need for jet fuel was way down as planes were parked.
Hertz has its home office here and they took over the parking lot of the Arena because all the shows were canceled and they filled the parking lot with 25,000 rental cars that no one was renting.
That’s essentially a part of it
The other part is that organizations like OPEC lowered production during covid in anticipation of less consumption
I’m pretty sure us companies did that too
In terms of imports, we actually import more than half of the imported oil we have from 🇨🇦 and given that the keystone pipeline is a joint Canadian and US project which can transport oil from 🇨🇦 to the 🇺🇸, you can see why halting in continued expansion (phase 4) wouldn’t really affect our gross imports
Great point. Technically at least the Keystone pipeline increases US dependence on foreign oil.
It’s really just transporting crude oil
So my take is it has no effect on production
But it’s actually making it cheaper for 🇨🇦 to export oil to us and it makes it cheaper for 🇺🇸 to move the oil from what part of the country to another
Even if it did, I don’t think it’s such a bad thing to rely on Imports via our neighbors in favor of environmental concerns but that me and that’s in line with my priorities
But it’s really just mental masterbation – the same people who don’t like the shutdown of those pipelines also don’t favor environmental regulation most of the time.
People draw strong ideological lines in this stuff. And good for them, that makes the country tick
But factually it’s wrong – the pipeline doesn’t increase American production of oil, it makes it cheaper for both Canadian and US like companies to move the oil
The current keystone pipeline through phase 3 is still active – it crosses the Canadian border into the us, so that’s another reason why it doesn’t really affect the oil we import
I agree. Was just taken by the fact that Keystone increases our total amount of imported oil, which is the number thrown around in such conversations. The devil is always in the details.
Piggy,
Doesn’t moving oil cheaper factor into new drilling targets though? Especially for Canada? You are definitely right about regulations being a huge part of the complaints of pro-pipeline advocates. There are centuries worth of usable oil sitting there to be used and the only two things preventing their use is regulation and the cost of drilling for it. It seems non-sensical to ignore China’s and India’s environmental pollution while destroying a viable backbone of our own economy (just my argument). I guess Mother Nature partitions herself to ensure that Chinese pollution has no affect.
Moving oil faster lowers the overhead for oil companies in a ton of ways
But that doesn’t mean the savings will lead to more production, especially if they slow production down bc of other market factors like covid causing people to use consume less, and therefore less production
I think its nonsensical to ignore China and India’s pollution too – but that doesn’t mean I want to ignore environmental concerns domestically, we are just adding to pollution if we do that
It’s certainly a global problem that needs global solutions. Don’t ignore what China and India are doing. Don’t do the same either. Look for global solutions. It takes multi-national cooperation to change what India and China are doing. that’s exactly why I despise nationalism, prefer global treaties (like the Paris agreement), nationalism just isolates us
If I was completely hopeless I would say “fuck it we can destroy the environment too” and be on board with that vision – but I think you need to change China and India behavior, not behave the same way
I agree Piggy. My problem is that I don’t see any of our leaders trying to change China or India. I’m also disappointed that all the major environmental groups and their followers aren’t bringing more heat on this topic especially in the media (to be fair our media has a globalist slant controlled by corporate interests).
I think nuclear solves the problems, yet no one is willing to give it the chance it deserves. France has shown it is very viable. Should fear rule our lives?
I’m also not a huge fan of the alternative energy scene yet. It’s still in its infancy but we want to make it the primary energy source and that’s not feasible yet. Let’s work on it but use the resources that are more freely available until we are there. Don’t throw out viable options until you are sure you have better ones that work at least as well. So far, alternative energy is still a secondary source. That’s why the EU is going back to fossil fuel and possibly nuclear. That makes sense to me.
Damn, I’m getting back in the gym and gonna become an NFL QB since they can play until they’re 60 because they never get hit! I think my hands are big enough. They’re not MikeE hands, but I’ve never had any complaints. Show me the money, bitches!!!
Poor Nathaniel Hackett.
It was actually 2019 when we exported more oil than imported.
2020 we imported just a little more but it was about a wash.
The oil price drop was a fuck you from OPEC to Trump!
We need to financially support fracking and flood the market with cheap shale again. We have enough to play chicken with these economies based off oil. Venezuela, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia. Are any of those strong democracies? If people want to virtue signal against evil, destroying these economies with our production would be a good start. They can even still post “I stand with Ukraine” if they need extra virtue signaled.
In early 2020 crude oil futures fell BELOW ZERO per barrel. This caused a chain reaction that had repercussions for a long time. Oil production had to be slowed / stopped because the oil companies ran out of storage space. At the same time Saudi Arabia and Russia had a tit for tat going on that helped to drive the prices into the negative territory.
It had NOTHING to do with Trump or Opec shooting him the bird.
True but did cheap shale have something to do with it? I’d have to say yes.
No, it’s the opposite actually, “Cheap shale” is not cheep enough to compete with “cheap foreign oil”
Once oil prices drop below a certain threshold it makes drilling / extracting shale oil too expensive to be competitive.
How often in the history of OPEC has that ‘cheap oil’ been that cheap? Once? I don’t think you base production off that. Not in a highly unstable pricing market.
But when the Saudis extract oil at $3 per barrel and we do so at $50 leaves them with a lot of running room as far as what to do.
After the Gesicki tag, the Dolphins have $52.94 million in cap space, the third-most in the league behind the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars.
I’d say Ogbah will chop a huge part of that off.
NewAge, the “Break even” price for shale oil production in the US in 2021 was $37.00 per barrel. That is in the most prolific and easiest to get to deposits.
https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/US-Shale-Patch-Reduced-Breakeven-Costs-By-20-This-Year.html
It is as high as $45.00 in some regions.
it has been bouncing off that range since 2015 which makes it difficult for US producers to forecast and meet production costs.
https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/crude-oil
Look at the 10 year chart. Crude Oil vs Shale oil. Most middle east countries pump crude and don’t have to deal with the process of extracting the “solid fuel” from shale so it is much cheaper to produce. (basically punch a hole in the envelope and let the oil out as apposed to have to frack and pump water / chemicals into the rock and drill horizontally into deposits to extract the shale oil.)
Crude oil will most likely always be cheaper than Shale oil because it is a much simpler proces.
Good info! Thanks!
Heck No to Armstead. Too much money for someone who can’t play a full season.
Jackson acts like we have the tackle spot opposite Eich sewn up.
maybe not poor Nathaniel Hackett after all
definitely not worth the $20 milly. Glad he’s off the table now.
Makes me afraid to ask what Devante Adams will be commanding.
Wow the Broncos traded for Russell Wilson.
Yup. Lots of NFL news today. I’m McLovin’ it.
And the dominoes fall
What no one is trading for DeShaun Watson?
Only the Dolphins. Just ask Mike Florio
The rumors WILL and MUST persist until the Dolphins get a “real” QB….
what a douche he is!
So who is going to be the Seahawks’ QB then?
Drew Lock
Tyrod Taylor
Teddy Bridgewater
or maybe
Kyler Murray
Some guy
Wow on the Wilson news.
