  21. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Good game. OL needs work and we stalled out the second half, but defense was awesome and Tua was consistent and didn’t beat us with TOs like some other QBs did. I’ll take it every week.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yah for sure can’t complain. Gotta keep in mind that the Pats had a real good D last year (and assume still do).

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Yeah, Tua moved the ball well especially with some of the blocking issues and against a very good D. We should get better every week, but the next three games are rough ones.

  22. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Not sure about his running yet, but Edmunds is one heck of a “dump off” option. Finds a soft spot in the D, knows where the 1st down marker is, and always looking for the YAC everybody said we needed.

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

New Age – what I didn’t like about Tua is he looked like he was stuck in quicksand a few times with the rush coming, just very slow reactions and I didn’t like that he tried to throw while in the grasp twice. It could be intercepted, he could fumble ir they could call intentional grounding. Otherwise he played well enough. He missed Hill a couple of times open too, but that happens to most QB’S

D did well, but run D is …..

78 yards atr 3.5 ypc against a good runn ing team

    What’s wrong with that?

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Nothing and glad for perspective and said that….78 yards per game all year…I’ll take thar.

      I think their first drive shell-shocked me…lol

  28. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

  30. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Mike, my kid just corrected me. He said the Dolphins D was the first defense taken in his league, not that they were ranked #1.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Gotcha, thanks! Regardless if any rankings, when I took the Dolphins defense in my league, all my friends dismissed it as a Homer pick, which I suppose it is because I know how good they can be

  31. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

DPOG (IMO) Brandon Jones. Led team in tackles at 6 with a sack and FF for the scoop and score.

  32. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Defense won the game for us. Lucky our 2 fumbles didn’t get recovered by the other team.

  33. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

Keenan Allen out with hamstring. Chargers aren’t the same team with him out.

  34. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Defense won’t get that many takeaways every game. Offense needs to get it together. Two OT’s getting injured is alarming.

  35. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

    Mike e,
It was the first game of the season and we have to give some credit to the NE defense. They were pretty good last year. Tua obviously can make improvements after today.
But Tbh he exceeded my expectations today for this game against the pats.

  36. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Boulder, Tua didn’t play as well as he is capable of. There were too many instances that could have turned out bad and changed the momentum of the game. He (still) needs to clean that up.

Gesicki 1 rec for 1 yard, hmmmm

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I noticed his absence sometime in the 3rd quarter, but didn’t know if he wasn’t on the field much, or if he was and just wasn’t involved in the passing game. I’ll be curious to see his snap count.

  39. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

What did you guys think of Mac Jones?

    Honest football opinion

    No biased Dolphins opinion

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think he had one play I’d consider dynamic- that made me go ‘wow, that is a great play’. IMO he looked basically the same against us in this game as he did in both games last year. Makes a few nice throws, moves well in the pocket, but that’s about it.

  40. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I also agree NE D is a tough out…Belichick is a genius….hate to say it

  41. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Not impressed with Mac Jones…didn’t really jump out to me at all. Imo

  42. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

    But neither did Tua…lol

  43. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Tua managed the game, some breaks, some mistakes….he had lots of pressure again…so nice throws, drops…clean it up

  44. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

What is armstead’s injury? Is it serious?

  45. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Phillips can play a lot better.
Tindal will ease in and improve our run D.
Byron coming back will send Needham back to slot, where he’s better.
Rowe back will improve our TE D.
Flowers did not even suit up.
Tua needs to slap himself and wake the F up on those sack plays.
Our OL will get less confused with more reps.

  46. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Our punter was solid. No bad punts and he had that one great punt where we went from like our 34 to their 8. Think it might have been the 1st drive of Q3.

Adams missing Rodgers on that throw

  48. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

Bbm, yes tua could have played much better and he will. I was just happy he didn’t lose the game for us. He played well enough to beat belicheat. He’s never lost to NE. When was the last time we could say that about one of our QBs?

Gotta suck being a Jets fan.

  58. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

NICE WIN today! Sucks that I was stuck at work.

Pray that our O-Line stays healthy and nothing serious happened to any of them today… they will be the key to opening up our running game as they continue to gel with one another in the coming weeks.

I’m not concerned about Tua at all… he, too, is getting acclimated to this new O-Line and how they operate (or lack thereof today).

Speed killed for us today on BOTH sides of the ball. Defense is looking but for early on against the run… that will improve as well.

    CONGRATS, COACH MCDANIEL!!!

    Cav Kong,

I read ya earlier about NFL.bite not working very well for ya this year… that SUCKS. It worked very well for more during the preseason, but I guess the NFL is cracking down on it now that the regular season is here.

I’m I reading ya correctly? If so, I’m interested in the Firestick option.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      *Am I reading ya correctly?

      Geez, my typing SUCKS today!

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, neither nflbite, nor sportssurge worked for me the entire game. I was trying to pull one of them up as a backup, but luckily I didn’t need it. I was very happy with the firestick once I found a stream.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

One question regarding the Firestick: do ya need to have a subscription in order to view Phins games?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, it doesn’t come with the firestick. You need a service that will stream it. I’m hooked up with the service UK uses (our UK). It’s about $75 for the year, and I also bought an adapter to wire it into the ethernet for better connectivity which cost another $20.

I’ve been pleased so far and find it totally worth it. I’m not sure what I would have done today without it since the other streamers weren’t working, probably would have broke my tv in frustration, lol.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And what is the service that our UK uses? I think I’m going to do this. If NFL.bite doesn’t work for me next Sunday, I’m going to funk some shit up! LOL

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It’s called Platinum Entertainment, but I’m pretty sure you need an invite. This is UK’s gig, so you’ll need to hook up with him; he’ll get ya the info and send you instructions on how to crack your firestick and download the service.

Once you guys get connected, I can help with anything else like cracking the stick or payment.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Nice win today. We saw some good stuff and things we need to clean up. But it’s the NFL and a win on opening day against a division rival is always good. Put it in the books. Congrats Mike McDaniel on your first win as HC.

As someone posted earlier, we (obviously) want the 49ers to lose as much as possible (that’s our 1st round pick next year). CRAZY that the Bears beat them today. What caused the 49ers’ loss?

    A) Rain game
    B) No more Mike McDaniel for the 49ers
    C) Trey Lance sucks
    D) Luck
    E) All of the above?

  69. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Today’s game felt an awful lot like last year’s games against the jets

Have we put that much distance between us and the cheats or is it just 1 game?

  70. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

When it comes to streaming I’m kind of a pro at it, I’ve been doing it since it was in its infancy when the quality was really bad. You have to play the game with the freezes and the ads. It’s all going to change next year. Many more options to watch games. No more dish, it will be a pay thing but everything is going to streaming.

  71. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

  73. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

About the game stream, I had issues with both sportssurge and nflbite. I had another one bookmarked and it worked great. No glitches Can’t remember the name, not at home tonight to look. I’ll check it when I’m home later in the week. It was about 1-2 minutes behind live action from what I could tell.

  74. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

    Tim,
I didn’t get Sunday ticket this year cause of the dish. Instead I got red zone and nfl+. NFL+ has the game live on radio and they have the condensed replay right after the game. I didn’t know about nflbite. I’ll check that out for next week.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

NFLbite is still a ripped stream. You have to learn how to get around stuff. But next year all games will be available on all devices without a dish and you’ll have to pay for the service. But you don’t need Direct TV anymore. Finally! I think the NFL has been late on this for at least 5 years.

  75. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

After the game, when the coaches shook hands, belicheat bailed right away, barely said a word, MM laughed and said something to one of his coaches like that poor sports

  76. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Tim,

I’m still trying to clarify. Are you saying used NFLbite today and it worked for you?

Nobody else who’s commented so far got nflbite or sportssurge to work today. For me, that means none of the linked streams were even coming up, not talking about the little games inherent in the system. I’ve been using those two sites for 4 years, but today (for me) it was like all the links were being blocked from connection.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yes, it worked but I had issues too. I used a couple of different streams while the best ones went down. I probably missed 5 minutes of the game doing that. It sucks! But unless I go to a bar which is not what I want to do this is my only option. You have to figure out the close ads 5-6 times before you get the feed. Close the ads quick and multiple times until you get the feed. It’s not ideal but it’s available.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Ok, thanks. I feel the same way as you. It’s way better than going to the bar every Sunday. You often lose a few minutes of the game when you have to switch because of a freeze or play the ad game (usually 2 or 3 times during a game) , but I do the same thing with having multiple streamers up so I can quickly switch if necessary.

    • ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

I too used first row sports and the above to stream for as long as I can remember before I signed up for Platinum. They were mostly ok, but loads on interruptions that drove me mad, but I could watch on the big screen with an HDMI from my laptop.

With the firestick, you have ABC/FOX/ESPN, Sky (which may only show one or max two more Fins game this year), two feeds to the game (this week) and then I go to the laptop in the unlikely event all options are down.

Btw Kong, if you Google Skysports NFL schedule I’m sure the game will be repeated this week if you can’t get it any other way and want to watch again.

Also, another tip. If you are watching and it buffers, just go channel up and channel down. It usually cancels a buffer. Sometimes it can loop back too. I’ve been using this for 18 month and I’m still learning.

@ Mike E – please feel free to shoot my e-mail to MF13 and I can send him the info on Platinum.

  77. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’ve been saying for years let me buy a game a la carte. Maybe we get something like that in the near future. I don’t care about ATL/CAR. Know what I mean?

  78. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, it’s a big deal that the NFL will be available to stream next year- finally. We still don’t know who the provider will be, but reportedly it’s down to Apple, Disney, and Amazon and will still cost somewhere in the $300 range. It’ll be worth it.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’ve already got Disney and Amazon, so no doubt Apple will get the contract, lol. It’ll still cost way less than DirectTV.

  79. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Kong, the NFL knows they can broadcast their games on any device now. How about different packages. Something like all games, 6 games and a la carte every week. How could that be less than Direct TV? This would be globally without people needing a southwest dish. That’s primitive.

It’s one game, we got things we need to work on, I’m probably still heady from our dominating win today, but I really feel we have something in HC Mike McDaniel.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The biggest thing McDaniel has is he knows his stuff and the players love him. He relates to them. It was week one which is always unpredictable. But he coached a good game. It wasn’t too big for him.

Could Tedy Bilgewater be headed to Dallas??
With Dak Prescott headed for thumb surgery on his throwing hand, it’s obvious Dallas will be looking to bring in a new quarterback.
The emergence of Skylar means that Bilgewater is expendable.
How high of a draft pick would it take to make this trade work for both parties? And could this be our BEST CHANCE to obtain a high draft choice in the ’23 Draft, to make up for Ross’s foolishness in the entire Brady acquisition affair???
Miami is not likely to have a better situation than this for Bilgewater’s services.

  95. ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

All in all that was an awesome performance yesterday. We won, and that’s all that mattered.

On the plus side, Tua looked really sharp on some plays. Hill is practically impossible to shut down. Waddle came through unscathed and made a few big contributions. Our running game and short passing game and spreading the ball around did enough to keep NE guessing. The D under Boyer looked no different post-Flores. MM did not look out of his depth one iota going up against the most experienced HC in the NFL. All three phases contributed to that team win, but the D (my favourite side of the ball) looked like it could be incredible late in the season if healthy.

On the negative side, the D did a lot of bending, and one thing that drives me crazy is we get teams in 3rd and long regularly, then they convert on a down they shouldn’t statistically (sure this happens less than I think – haven’t checked). We don’t have a power running game – this may come to haunt us in the cold weather and if we make the play-offs. Our OL got us through, but looked less than convincing (even though BB schemed the hell out of us and regularly had free runners as if they had our playbook). Tua seemed to panic several times but we got away with it. He’s a rhythm QB and he didn’t really establish a consistent one – he blew hot and cold. I don’t see the Ravens letting him get into a rhythm either, and hope that if he panics again, he doesn’t throw too many picks.

Bottom line, even after their TD, the Pats never really looked in it. Happy camper here.
