It’s hard to take any team that has a “butt punt” on its season resume seriously, let alone one that’s gone for a safety. Nonetheless, Miami survived such an embarrassment last weekend to defeat the class of the AFC, Buffalo Bills, 21-19.

Maybe the 3-0 record and beating Bills, Cheats, Ravens and bungels might make you take the Fins seriously, typical homer

Watching that guy’s DL breakdown on the twitter feed before the page turn, I did not realize that Flowers played. He made some impact also and looks to be another good F/A pickup.

At one time when Buff was in the red zone, our DL was:
LDE Ingram, LDT Jenkins, RDT Flowers, RDE Ogbah

They got a good stop on that play and Flowers caused the disruption up the middle.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Flowers and Ingram bring a lot of credibility to the front 7

With only Kohou getting any real PT among rookies, is a coincidence we’re off to a fast start playing mostly vets?

CURRENTLY NOT RAINING at our house in the north of Tampa suburbs. Just got both of my dogs to answer the call of nature, which pleased my wife. SO FAR, no need to employ the in-house TURD PATROL!!! –But the worst is yet to come. However, this could have been FAR, FAR, WORSE. We are SO FORTUNATE!!

KEN; Regarding your “cheeky” video —– did you know that one of the suburbs of Buffalo is named “CHEEKTOWONDA?” –It’s not far from West Seneca. I never got a translation to English of what “CHEEKTOWANDA” means. However, I’ll entertain possible translations from our linguistically gifted readers on this site. The funniest translation will earn a free beer from me the next time I see you folks.
    ———-
ALL OF YOU KNOW THAT THE COMMISSIONER banned owner Steve Ross from having anything to do with this franchise for a year for his outrageous behavior regarding the illegal attempt to sign Tom Brady while he was STILL under contract with the Buccaneers. Ross was fined $1,000,000 (the maximum allowed under the CBA). And the Dolphins lost some high draft choices, too!

NOW my question is this; is it JUST A COINCIDENCE that the team’s on field performance has hit a new high (for the Ross Era) while Ross has been BANNED from all activities relating to the Dolphins??

FOR YEARS, I’ve been saying Miami’s BIGGEST NEED IS A NEW OWNER!! Well, thanks to Ross’s GREED and his football stupidity, we are TEMPORARILY FREE OF HIM. Don’t get me wrong. I know that Miami’s improved performances are due to a lot of factors. And Ross, himself, may be due some kudos for, after more than a dozen failed hires in the head coaching and general manager’s jobs, finally getting it RIGHT with the current head coach. BUT would we have had to go though a decade and a half of football futility before FINALLY GETTING THE RIGHT GUY had someone else been in charge?? Would we be 22 years into the current century without a SINGLE PLAYOFF VICTORY had Ross NOT been making the choices??

ANYWAY, I STRONGLY SUGGESTED that separating Ross from the franchise WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE FRANCHISE AND GOOD FOR THE FANS!!
    ————————-
PRESTO!! WITHOUT ROSS, the Dolphins are legitimate PLAYOFF CONTENDERS!!
HELL, Miami’s FIRST PLAYOFF VICTORY under the current regime likely will occur while the team owner is in the “SIN BIN!”

ONE FINAL POINT. i would NOT be surprised if Ross was caught violating the terms
of his suspension. His boundless ego just can’t take it! So, if this actually happens, I hope that the NFL FORCES ROSS to sell the team to someone who is neither a relative of Ross nor a part of ANY of Ross’s business ventures. IF, and WHEN that happens, I AM GOING TO HAVE THE BIGGEST CELEBRATION I’ve HAD SINCE THE DOLPHINS COMPLETED THE PERFECT SEASON!!

It’s no wonder they’re averaging about 10 of those plays per game thus far. Play action, RPOs, and other means to help out the line have done wonders.”

It’s funny, but this actually makes me feel better. I think Mcdaniel is going to be instrumental in getting good olinemen in here and if we can add a top notch oline to this offense next year, where we don’t have to hide guys, look out…

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Heck, we might really only need to add one starter next year.

Keep Armstead, Williams, Hunt. Develop Jackson or Little, both seem to be doing ok (once Jackson returns obviously). All these guys in the scheme for a year

        Add a stud at LG.

We could legitimately develop into a top notch line next year.

Ken, I agree, Little has looked solid. I don’t know if he has been, lol, but that is exactly what I like about our oline so far this year. We haven’t had a single turn-style game from any olinemen yet- where we are watching a guy get beat over and over and it disrupts our offense.

Even that Eich 0.0 grade on pure pass plays, I would never have guessed it…because our coaches know the strengths and weaknesses of this line and they account for it.

Brilliant effing concept. Thank you Mike McDaniel!

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

      Eichenberg 0.0 I call BS

I haven’t noticed him that bad

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The article said PFF rated him as a 0.0 this year on pure pass protection plays (run plays, RPO, Play action, or run action) and also stated we only run about 10-12 of those a game. So not his overall grade.

  27. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think we are actually better than the Bengals right now but likely to lose. It was just such a physical game on Sunday and it is a short week. It is going to be hard to win this on the road

    • randydolfan1947's avatar randydolfan1947 says:

KEN; Cincy is 1-2 right now. And they will be playing with the same amount of rest as Miami. The Dolphins come into this game with the knowledge that they are playing good football. And the Bengals are NOT. Both Baltimore and Buffalo are better teams than Cincinnati.

Simply put, “MO” Mentum is on Miami’s side. If our team holds the Bungels to less than 25 points, they will win.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

They played the Jets and had a laugher. We played perhaps the best team football and it was a heavyweight fight with a lot of body blows and we are on the road

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

This is the way I’m thinking right now too, Ken. Thursday night is always a disadvantage to the road team to begin with, and the nature of the game with the Bills just makes it that much harder IMO.

But OD is right, we have the momentum, we know the Bengals are a good team, and we’ve had the exact same amount of rest.

And this team has shown how resilient it is. It’s a point of pride now.

      Go Dolphins!!

  30. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

  31. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    From the article:

Well, this one was ugly for Liam Eichenberg. The man got eaten up by Greg Rousseau and was tough to watch in this one.

I do not want to say that Liam Eichenberg was saved from worse misery because of the absence of Ed Oliver, but I think it is fair to say that the matchup would not have been fun to watch.

Every Miami Dolphins fan has recently been calling for Liam Eichenberg to be taken out of the lineup. He has not provided much help along the line and has been an extremely weak spot.

He currently has an overall grade of 32.3 ranking from Pro Football Focus, ranking him 69th of 71 eligible guards.

    ——————–

This guy at least is seeing the same thing as PFF. He’s just a guy, so *shrug*, but there seems to be a disparity with some assessment on some level…

I don’t really watch a lot of oline play when I watch games unless I’m specifically watching a replay with that in mind, and I haven’t focused at all on our line this year because overall the line seems fine to me.

I know PFF isn’t the be all end all and is often suspect, but if they say a guy is really bad (or really good), I usually expect that to be fairly accurate even if there is some potential range to the assessment.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I look at it this way — they could replace him with Deiter with the snap of a fingers. And Deiter was a starting interior lineman for us last year.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Lol, Stang, I don’t know bro, this coaching staff doesn’t seem to be very high on Deiter.

But you do bring up a good point; if he’s been that bad, they could switch him out, so the fact they haven’t probably means something.

WE JUST HAD our first wind gust over 50 MPH. Lost a couple of small branches off a tree in the back yard but that’s all. At the risk of jinxing us, I think we will NOT lose our power later today.

Total rainfall for the storm has to be less than 6-7 inches so far. NO obvious flooding in our neighborhood yet.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Gonna be a lot more rain than that. Eyewall just started hitting and the storm will be moving up your way after that. Get ready to be in the dark for a while and think about what you need to prepare for that.

There is still a large contingent of people that still say he’s not real and it’s because of this or because of that. Sure, it’s just a coincidence that he is playing at such a high level statistically.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The new one I’ve seen on a couple of comments sections is our offense has so much talent and the coaching is so good he can’t help but succeed, but if we had a real QB, we’d be unstoppable.

I’m just glad the team and coaches have his back. And I don’t know what happened with the fans in the stadium, but I know the collective breathe went out of two Dolphins fans in my house last Sunday when Tua was injured, because we knew we had ZERO chance to win without him.

He always said he wants to see top 10 statistics for a full season. Tua is well on his way to that being top 3 in nearly all categories right now after playing the Pets and two of the best teams in the league.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

In the recent past we’ve watched the core of our offense being bubble screens and RPO. It’s so much different now. Under center, depth of the pocket, lots of movement with the OL and skill players – motions and boots.

I’m so happy to see time proven principles at work. We should get better as the season rolls on.

STILL pretty windy here. We lost Directv for about 8-10 minutes. Then the system came back on with no more troubles so far. Big tree limb, about 10 feet long and over 200 pounds, came down during the worst of the storm. No significant damage.

Right now our thoughts are with all our fellow Floridians in the Ft. Myers, Port Charlotte area who took such a beating. I sure hope help arrives pronto!! – – Sometimes it has in the past and sometimes it hasn’t. Maybe the fact that this is an election year will help the victims get quicker relief.

Feel better Mike E. A couple of years ago our pitcher took a line drive off his knee and fractured his knee cap.

In Sept right after Charlie hit I was in Orlando, we had a package deal 14 nights hotel, but the room reaked of mold, we left that hotel, went to another on International dr for 4 nights, then drove to the Keys thru Tampa

We went right thru Punta Gorda and everything close to the ocean had been leveled

Week before the trip I saw a video on top 10 places to retire, Punta Gorda was on the list, end of video it said they’d since gotten hit by a hurricane

  68. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I played mostly 3rd base, but right next to the base, in a div I tournament I took one off the right thigh, the mark was the size of the ball

Next inning they moved me to right field, there was this little tree that stuck out just onto the field, went over to get a pop up and the ball hits this tree, then my eye

Nothing like what Mike went through, but still hurt like he’ll

Mike, spit on you hand, rub it in the dirt, then get back out there

Mike E: I pitched for a few years as well .. most come backers it seems like time froze but I could Move regular speed… scared the shit out of the wife and teammates a few times but got more outs than ouches… worst one I got was in a preseason warm up practice, about 5 years ago …teammate smoked one off my shin it swelled to half the size of the ball , and to this day I still have a round bruise where it hit …

  75. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

DAYUM, Bro… that was always my worst fear as a 2nd Baseman… getting that hop from a hard-hit ball that goes right into my skull. Heal up soon, my guy.

There was only ever one guy in the league I had to fear that from… and he was my teammate Robert. He was Mark McGwire-esque, truly, and could have made the major leagues. He just passed away at age 46 from cancer. RIP, Robert.

Wishing a speedy recovery for you, Mike E.

  76. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Lol , another time I was right field, had a girl playing first base that I didn’t really like much .. batter smoked in down the first base line and all of a sudden she drops and it looked like all her teeth exploded out of her face .. she DID get hit in the mouth , but had a mouthful of sunflower seeds which is what looked like her teeth leaving … I drove her to the hospital πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Š

Still talking about Tua and concussion protocol

The rule is the team has a dr to check him out and an independent dr, so if the independent dr says he’s good, why is there an investigation?

Or maybe they can’t penalize us, and are just evaluating the current process

JUST FINISHED WATCHING a rerun of the Bills @ Dolphins game a few days ago.
After giving it some thought, I’d have to say it was the best game ever played in Miami since the Dolphins defeated Peyton Manning and the Colts IN OVERTIME to win the last victory Miami’s EVER HAD in a playoff game (Dec. 31, 2000). BOTH GAMES were sensational. But this Bills-Dolphins game featured two teams that, in my opinion, were better than the two teams that played in 2000.

Thanks to the NFL Network, I got to see this game for a second time in a week!! It was truly a thrill!!

OD and others…The last I heard from Naples on here was that the power was expected to go off shortly and he was safe in the house. So like Son said he’s probably hunkered down and waiting for the power to be restored.
    At least I hope so.
