Bridgewater moves in slow motion out there, can’t run and has accuracy issues to boot. I’d like Skylar as the #2. And can’t wait for Tua to be back

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

He may settle down a bit, but he’s thrown ints at very inopportune times the 2 games he’s played, costing us a chance to win, we can’t wait for him

Once Skylar is back he should be #2

From my significant background in neuropathy, I feel that Tua is fine to play this week. There is no stronger risk as to whether he plays this next game or the following one. His brain is healed and he’s ready to go. His continued health falls on the O-line and his ability to protect himself

Coach on Tua’s play style: You love his competitive nature. But there’s a time where you have to kind of concede. That’s where he’s kind of been focusing on because it’s not something that’s natural to him. He wants to break every tackle and he doesn’t like when plays don’t work.

Coach on the boost Tua’s return gives the team: He’s a captain for a reason. He’s a very good player at that position. Very good players, they definitely give people a boost. Not becasue of what other people aren’t because he is who he is.

Just got back home. We had an absolute blast.

A Dolphins win for our first game would have been nice, but the loss was easily overshadowed by the wonderful group of people we spent the weekend with.

All the Fest’rs, including the wives and family members, were warm, welcoming, and made sure we felt like part of the group right out of the gate; it made for a great experience.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone that puts the party together and to all the participants. Now I’m going to go sleep for the next day or two, lol.

  23. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Hopefully Tua starts Sunday Night and we can get back to what we were starting at 3-0.

  24. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Tua currently leads the NFL in passer rating at 109.9.

Little had a PFF pass blocking grade of 1.5.

  25. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m upset. We essentially ACED 3 of our 4 first games (VERY difficult opponents), and now that our schedule has gotten that much weaker, we’re wilting.

We absolutely should have won the last 2 games (stej and Vikes), even by translating the stats. And yes, that means without Tua, X last week, Armstead this week, etc, etc.

We’ve been the strangest team in the NFL over the last decade and more: we tend to win the games we’re supposed to lose and lose the games we’re supposed to win.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

QB, OL and CB have been challenged with injuries. It’s not easy to overcome that, especially QB. It’s easy to say next man up but some guys are not close to being as good.

  26. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m going to leave this right here. Yes, Teddy had a better passer rating than Patrick Mahomes for the week, and is #3 in passing yardage for the week… and he only played roughly 3 quarters.

Yes, we were in the game deep into the 4th quarter, so it’s not as though Teddy got garbage yardage.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/weekly/leaders

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Had Teddy played all 4 quarters, he was trending toward over 439 passing yards for the game.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t like his body language. He looks to be playing nonchalant.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I hear that, man… I do. It’s easy to judge a book by its cover…

However, Teddy PRODUCED (like Teddy Riley, LOL).

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

The most efficient make it look easy and nonchalant. The least efficient seem to be laboring harder than the next man, but they don’t produce efficiency.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’ll say this, Sklar looks more impressive to me. Much quicker play speed.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

As such, it’s difficult to discern who is working harder vs who is working more efficiently. Production is all that matters in the end.

  27. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, I have been unimpressed with Teddy since the preseason. I like him as a person, I just don’t like the way he’s playing. Skylar is just getting started and is taking his lumps but I see more aggressive play from him.

Tua is clearly the best QB on the team. 🙂

I’ll say this, Skylar looks more impressive to me. Much quicker play speed.
    ————–
Oh, I agree with ya on that, too!

I look at it like this (bicycle analogy)… Skylar is still in first gear and he’s peddling his butt off! Teddy, on the other hand, has it in fifth gear as a savvy vet and doesn’t have to peddle nearly as fast.

  29. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We win with Tua and lose with everyone else regardless of whatever. It is known. 😉

  30. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

“The Force is with you, young Skywalker Skylar, but you’re not a Jedi yet”…

  31. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Guys, I’m 100% with y’all regarding Teddy in the preseason… hence my dubbing: ‘Betty Treadwater’. He looked uninspired, just going through the motions, and seemed to be just mailing it in.

But being serious, he had one helluva game yesterday! Too bad our O-Line let him down or he could have been even better.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And remember, that first INT he threw was not on him… it was a miracle INT by the Vikes. Personally, I thought it hit the ground between the two defenders, but that’s just me.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That was on Waddle, it was a little behind him but it hit his shoulder and he has to catch that. Then Teddy hit him on that crossing route for a 1st down and Waddle loses the ball and turns it over with a chance to go up 17-16. Nobody feels worse than Waddle.

  32. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Teddy doesn’t have good pocket presence. He doesn’t know how to climb the pocket as opposed to doing those dumb spin moves. He doesn’t have Tua’s athleticism when it comes to that. I am also disappointed with his accuracy. I would not call yesterday a hell of a game for him. He had his moments some good and some bad

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. I have no confidence in us winning a game with him at QB. He looks slow with his instincts. I really don’t know why.

  33. uwantwat's avatar uwantwat says:

Losing the game IMO was solely on those 2 fumbles by Waddle. The 2nd one was really bad.

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Who makes a team punt 10 times and loses?

  35. uwantwat's avatar uwantwat says:

I have to disagree with you, Ken. When those 2 mistakes cost you at least 10pts. and you lose by 8pts. Waddle seems to be having a dropsies problem. Last year he had the same problem. Not Good.

  36. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Boulder, please forgive me not mentioning you. I was trying to remember all the folks I met and my mind went to Dave and Busters and not the tailgate. It was great hanging with you at the tailgate as well. And anyone else my homer-aide rattled mind may have fogged over.

I told you that shit is poison!

  37. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Why can’t we run the ball? Is it because Mostert should be a change of pace back and not a starter? Is it because our Oline sucks rotten Rhinoceros anus? Is it MM not calling plays at the right time? Is it as the douche at PhinFanatic points out that we advertise that we are going to try to run by taking #10 & #17 off the field and add a TE and Cracraft or Scherfield? We run 90% of the time when the backup WR’s come in….

WTF!?!?! I am frustrated all over again and am losing patience with MM.

  38. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Uwant:
The loss was much more than a drop and a fumble. It was bad OL play, way too many penalties, poor QB play, lack of an effective run game. Anyone one of those in and of itself was a reason why we lost. All of them together made victory impossible. And don’t forget Sanders choking again

  39. uwantwat's avatar uwantwat says:

Ken…you’re right to a degree. The critical fact is those 2 fumbles/drops were instrumental in directly not scoring at least an extra 10 pts. Like you say the injuries, poor OL play etc. certainly didn’t help matters much either. The fact remains Waddle has to make those catches.

The waddle fumble killed us imo

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

He would give a rebuttal and you would hear the divide in the debate between people. But it was cordial.

I seriously don’t want to delve into politics any further… leaving it light on the outside.

What’s up with Byron Jones after 6 weeks into the season? As BB Mike stated, his ‘out’ is next year. I realize we don’t want to rush him back if he’s not right, but HOLY FRUSTRATION, Batman.

Maybe he shouldn’t have had his surgery in March, right?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So the way I see it, unless upon Byron’s return he has a career year, he won’t be back with us next year.

Time to add CB to our draft needs in the ’23 Draft.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Our ‘0-blitz’ won’t work unless we have 2 STUD man-to-man coverage CBs… or so it would seem. Clearly, we have gotten away from it.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He’s not ready to go. Maybe it was try to heal first and that didn’t work. We’re all doctors these days. LOL

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Well like I said, why did he wait until March to have surgery? He should have had that cleaned up right after our 2021 season ended in January, right?

I’m no doctor, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn last night… but c’mon, Byron!

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

OH, sorry… just understood what ya meant by maybe trying to heal first.

        It’s just so frustrating, man!!!

  84. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Being it’s Tuesday night, I highly doubt we’re trading for a player this week in order to have him play for us on Sunday night. Looks as though we’re rolling with/counting on Iggy and Bethel… with perhaps some CB play from Rowe.

  86. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

TJ Watt still out, as many other Steelers are as well

    Minkah didn’t play last week

Doesn’t hurt to get back to playing a team with as many injuries as we have

  87. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Fuck its cold outside! Went out with my morning coffee to sit by the pool and had to turn right back around. Its 40 degrees. I went surf fishing just 2 days ago at 6am and was in my bathing suit and no shirt.

I see some snow in WV and western PA.

They did say that the polar vortex is colder than it’s been in a while and the cap that holds it in so-to-speak looks to be unstable for this winter. Meaning as it moves, very cold blasts are going to slip down like this possibly more frequently.

Supposed to be back in the low 80’s by Monday though.

  89. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Steve, I agree. They also have QB issues. No excuses this week. Unless the NFL decides they want to give Flores one vs his old team because of his lawsuit and all. 😉

Wonder if our injury report is going to read like a novel today?

I can confirm it’s cold af here in WV and I saw snow flurries and sleet yesterday. It’s not even Halloween yet! 😭

We just got back from the fest last night and even though we got the L. We had a great time with everyone. We even got to hang out Monday night poolside with the Miami chief of police and throw back a few cocktails with him. Was great finally meeting Kong and his cool wife and Jahndont and boulder. Boulder just so you know my wife was watching me like a hawk so that I wouldn’t partake in the Patron party. I wanted to though 😳

On Tua’s presence at practice last week – Every single play at practice he’s saying the play, watching the timing of the concept, watching the footwork of Skylar, getting excited when perfect technique is executing because he knows exactly what it looks like. Praises focus again.

Great competitors across all sports and people doing anything at a high level, there’s a common denominator there. It is present in the moment and completely convicted, committed to what you’re doing, knowing that will affect future outcomes, McDaniel says.

On special teams ups and downs – Results haven’t been where we want them, that’s obvious. What’s important to me is the fabric of teams able to have success in any phase, you don’t see loafing, you don’t see lack of strain… continued

There have been ups for our special teams?

There’s been so many guys go thru the line up, that we may not be seeing the same mistakes by the same players, but the next guy is making them

MM is a BSer, when talking about his players, which is fine, just don’t believe what he says, unless you see something to back it up

They’d better have the stupid penalties cleaned up, and for the love of God catch a friggin int

On the hardest part of this journey – watching my team go out to battle and I can’t do anything to help them on the field.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We were winning with Tua, because he was making the key play at the critical stage, while Betty was turning it over

Waddle trying to do too much didn’t help, but he wasn’t playing like that with Tua
