  6. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I didn’t realize it was that bad, but noticed he wasn’t playing as well as usual.

    From PFF:

“It was a surprisingly rough day for one of the best safeties in the NFL. Jevon Holland allowed a catch on all five of his targets for 128 yards. That’s even crazier when you consider he had allowed only four catches for 45 yards all season long before this week.”

  7. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

As maligned as the Dolphins O-line has been, they were creating and holding some pretty nice pockets for Tua yesterday. (He absolutely helps by his quick decision making and release, but they did a good job overall, IMO.

  8. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

But he sucks otherwise and has a weak arm….

Looking at next weekend’s opponent the Bears record
    W1 – 19-10 W over 49rs
    W2 – 27 – 10 L to Packers
    W3 – 23-20 W over Texans
    W4 – 20-12 L to Giants
    W5 – 29-22 L to Vikings
    W6 – 12-7 L to Commanders
    W7 – 33-14 W over the Pats
    W8 – 49-29 L to the Cowboys

They are not a great team, but I will caution against the “trap’ game. This is the NFL and they get paid too.

We’ve talked about Wilson not getting it done, but his worth was supposed to be when Hill and Waddle were doubled and covered, they’ve been open all year and have produced, so whatever Wilson

He did have some nice punt returns yesterday, so maybe he’s starting to get healthy and will come around

Tua Tagovailoa has a passer rating of 137.5 with 126 yards and 1 touchdown in 7 games on 4th down in his career.

  13. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

They can’t even get it right, when trying to say good things about us

Earlier this season, the Miami Dolphins looked like one of the most exciting offenses in the NFL. They were averaging 21 points and 355 yards per game in a 3-0 start to the season.

  14. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Interesting snap count observations

On defense, we have to start with the safety position and the very interesting decision to elevate rookie Verone McKinley III, put him in the starting lineup and have Rowe as a healthy inactive. CBS play-by-play man Andrew Catalon revealed during the broadcast that head coach Mike McDaniel indicated the decision to sit Rowe had to do with the fact he doesn’t play special teams. Well, here’s the thing: McKinley played 48 of the 60 defensive snaps in his first NFL start but he didn’t play a single snap on special teams himself. So, essentially, this means the Dolphins chose McKinley over Rowe for this game because of defense, not special teams. It was a decision that was surprising to many, and that includes Rowe.

Also in the secondary, Kader Kohou started opposite Xavien Howard after missing the past two games with an oblique and played 57 snaps. That should clear up any doubt about Kohou being the No. 2 Dolphins cornerback while Byron Jones remains out.

Soooo, being it wasn’t a very good defensive effort in the 1st half do they make changes next week?

  15. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Jets came back to earth this week after having several advantage games and others against bad teams

  16. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Mostert is the type of RB, that fits perfectly in an MM O, he has the speed and YPC that keep the D honest

I never wanted to have that O, that used the run to setup the pass, even though the 49ers were just that, but their O was painful to watch far too often

  17. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

5-3 after 8 games… Cincy on road Thurs Night is acceptable because it’s as close to a “scheduled loss” that the NfL can create. Vikings are a good team. It’s just that damn Jets game (means we’d need Buff to lose again before we play them) … otherwise we survived and are still in good position.

Defensive health is what really matters now. With Brandon Jones out and Byran Jones a “?” … DB help might be more important than pass rush help ….

A lot of those games in the “tough stretch” after the bye don’t look as tough anymore (SF, SD, and GB specifically). Shore up the Def (somehow!) and winning 12 games is very doable.

  18. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

“According to teamrankings.com, the Miami Dolphins are tied for the fourth most penalized team in the NFL over the past three weeks, averaging 7.3 accepted penalties per game.”

LOL, I wonder where we rank if you include non-accepted penalties…

    Dov Kleiman
    @NFL_DovKleiman
The #Dolphins and #Jets are interested in trading for #Broncos Pass-Rusher Bradley Chubb.

There’s enough interest from both teams that they’re considering trading a 1st round pick for him, a well-plugged-in GM tells
    @peter_king

I say F-it, just do it, sure you’ve got to pay him with cap space we don’t have, but it would be huge and keep him away from the jets and allow Phillips to drop into coverage, while not losing pass rush

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The idiots said Chubb’s salary cap hit would be 16m, it’s only 12.7m and we’re halfway thru so about half of that and we have 5.7m

  21. New Age's avatar New Age says:

It’s good to see no one really talking about Tua being s problem outside of his health. It’s amazing what top tier WRs do for a QB. Look at what Mahomes had until this year, and you start to see part of why he’s so good. Same for Burrow. Same for any QB. Talent makes it so much easier. Tua needed help to produce just like every QB. Fuck you Flores.

We’re still not a good team but McDaniels is doing a great job for a first-year coach. If we clean up the penalties and get some guys back on D soon, we have the chance to make the playoffs and change the way the refs play us. Detroit is the worst D in the NFL so Tua should have done well. Detroit has a good offense, and our D is injured so they should have also done well. Clean up those penalties and show us the playoffs coach!

I couldn’t give a shit about records, but it does prove all of these preseason a-holes like Keyshon jet fan wrong, when Tyreek was talking uo his QB

I’d like to know what his thoughts were, when he looks inside towards the ball

The Bills style of play drives me crazy

They don’t run the ball even when they get up by multiple scores late

Josh Allen is often their leading rusher

For instance, if we make a big trade for Chubb (or anyone else), I’ll be on the board right away to own up that I was wrong, lol.

  46. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Obviously Tua has been tearing it up. A lot of us projected he would benefit from improved weapons around him (he has) and a better O-Line (he has — even if still imperfect the OL is better).

But the one person I think has helped him out the most except maybe Tyreek is McDaniel. They just have a great relationship on and off the field that lets Tua just relax. Plus I think McD is game and scheme planning to Tua’s strengths.

  47. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Hey btw
Which Defensive coach was McDaniel talking to in that clip above, when he said, “Bro, get that fuckin’ fixed.”

Was it Ty McKenzie the OLB coach?

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m pretty sure it is McKenzie in the foreground, but it looks like he may be talking to the guy behind him who I think is Crossman.

      • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Crossman definitely has some issues to be fixed,
as we are mediocre to bad on BOTH sides of STs.

We finally got a good PR (from Ced)
but some knucklehead ruined it with a flag
cuz he blocked in the back
on the other side of the field!!

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, our special teams are bad, worst in the league. That block in the back was infuriating. FINALLY get a return…nope, bring it back, lol.

I was reading the comments on the McD video, and some people were saying he was talking at DC Boyer. I’ve watched it over and over and I don’t see Boyer…

  48. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Tua is 6th in passing TDs, even though he missed 10.5 quarters.

  49. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

  50. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

  51. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

The Tua numbers and ratings are quite frankly in the range
where folks begin to talk of
    MVP votes,
but I guess the league is not ready for that yet.

Christian Wilkins drew 3 flags for lining up offsides. That dog just don’t hunt…. especially when it is a vet.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It was called a little differently yesterday, they usually allow at least 1/2 a ball length

I’ll watch game after game and wonder why it isn’t called, it is in college

If you line up about a half yard over the ball and you twitch they will call it

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Other things they don’t call is the motion guy moving forward on an angle at the snap and the WRs being at the same depth as the OL, when they’re supposed to be off the ball

  55. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Our D mostly sucks with all the injuries, but they’ve been great at the end of all 5 wins

You feed him more and he gets hurt, they’re using him enough to keep the D honest, but not too much he gets 8 in the box and bottled up

  58. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Last year I expected more TDs from distance from Waddle and more yards per reception, this years he’s getting them, because of Tyreek

  59. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Last week we saw a somewhat timid Tua, coming off the concussion, this week we saw what he’s capable of the rest of the way

  60. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

They just called the 2nd neutral zone infraction on 94 and on 6, and it is really super ticky tacky. 94 has maybe half a finger length over the line, and his upper body is definitely is not over and #6 is standing, his feet are not over, but he is leaning very slightly into the zone. Gimme a break.

  61. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Man, Phel was right yesterday when he said they weren’t giving us replays of any of these penalties.

  62. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think the neutral zone infractions fall into the realm of a tip-off somebody “called in” to the refs. Somebody like Tomlin. (Or Flores via Tomlin)

They were hyper about it, even a bit against the Lions.

They get like that about one certain thing for a game or two, then it dies down to normal again.

Both Howard and Wilkins usually push that to its limit as part of their persona, but that line judge was out to prove a point, maybe to a boss (for example, a HC on the rules committee).

  63. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

That OPI on Long was about as phantom a flag as you’ll ever see.

  65. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Just got to the part of the game that McDaniel said ‘bro, get that fucking fixed’. It was right after the 3rd offsides call (2nd time on #6). I’m pretty sure he actually was talking to McKenzie; looked like McKenzie acknowledged it, which you couldn’t see on the twitter clip.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

lol, see my above post. I give him credit for admitting he was wrong.

Analysts (and people with opinions) are going to be wrong a lot. For me, you lose credibility when you won’t move off a position when you’ve been proven wrong.

    INJURIES

WR DeVante Parker suffered a knee sprain in Sunday’s win over the Jets, and will likely only be one game should he miss time at all, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source. Parker left the game after the very first play without returning. New England enters its bye week following Week 9.

  70. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I know DBs are scared of Tyreek and Waddle, but maybe defensive back coaches should be as well.

20 mins later – Jet’s state that defensive line is the deepest position on the team and they have NO interest in trading for Chubb…..

  73. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The final neutral zone infraction called on 94, he is definitely out further than the rest of the dline, but if he’s over the line, again it’s by maybe half a finger length. He was behind the TV blue line delineating the line of scrimmage (which isn’t always accurate).

    Again, very ticky tack.

I don’t give prisco credit for admitting he is wrong. It might be harsh but in that clip he’s calling people on Twitter crazy for calling him out on his stupid tweet that he had to admit was wrong

Sports journalism is in the toilet – people would rather get likes and rqeeets in the moment than state an informed tweet

Tua’s trajectory isn’t unusual it’s not like a Geno Smith story – prisco just wrote off a player that he shouldn’t have

In all honesty, my little spiel about admitting when your wrong, when I wrote it in my original post, I was more talking about myself anyway. I hold strong opinions and often forcefully express them, and in my own head the one redemptive quality that kind of mitigates that is the capacity and willingness to admit when I’m proven wrong.

Coach says the emphasis on fundamentals and techniques on the OL — deliberate hard work he calls it — are to credit for the increasingly improving production of that unit.

Coach says they’ll be ultra conservative on Austin Jackson. Says it’s very unlikely he plays this week. That process will be a day-by-day thing.

The NFL puts out such shitty ancillary products, smh.

Full game replays are available under their premium package at $10 per month or $80 for the year. They cut out commercials, but the rest of the broadcast is supposed to be left intact.

I’m watching the Ravens game and there is a gap at the end of the 3rd quarter at the 26 second mark right after the Ravens score. The game suddenly jumps into the 4th quarter and the Dolphins have the ball at the Ravens 42. Then 6 game minutes later, it skips one of our 1st down plays.

There was another play earlier on another replay I was watching, I think it was the Steelers game, where a play cut off before the refs even called it over, and it suddenly jumped to the next play.

When I watch gamecasts on the computer, I watch them on ESPN’s site because the NFL site gamecast is glitchy and the way they use their game graphic with the ball moving along the field is goofy as hell.

13 billion dollar business and these are the crappy products I get.

A 2nd and 5th for LB Smith was not all bad but he will be an UFA next year.

It would be real entertaining if the Ravens gave up this draft capital for a half season of play and then we sign him as an UFA next year.

Our pick from SF dropped from 11 to #20 with that last win. Sucks they got McCaffrey.

Edge Foskey should still be available in that area. Also, a couple decent CB’s.

Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller were still hemming and hawing about on NFL Radio as I was driving home. Fucking Jim Miller who was nothing special 😑

Joe Burrow says that with Jamar Chase being out it won’t be that big a deal because the two other wide receivers would both be number one on any other team.

Not in Miami bitch! Let’s go Browns
