Well, MF13, you were right about us making a splash trade and I was wrong.

  3. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Who has a Chubb-y for this trade?

  4. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Gonna put this out again post page turn.

“The Dolphins are sending RB Chase Edmonds and 2 draft picks to the Broncos for EDGE Bradley Chubb. The Broncos are getting a 2023 first-rounder that initially belonged to San Francisco, as well as a 4th-rounder in 2024. Miami will get a 5th-rounder in 2025. “

  5. Ken's avatar Ken says:

We need pass rushers and this team is ready to win. I like the let’s go for it mentality

  6. Ken's avatar Ken says:

More Gaskin too. A bonus imo

  7. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

And we got rid of Edmunds.. some will be quite happy 😃

  8. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Horrible trade! Fucking Grier! A player our ONLY First round pick next year and a 4th in 2034 for a 6 week rental of a player!!!!!!!!

    !!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That 2025 5th rounder is worth more!!!!!

    FUCKING GRIER!

  9. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    SHEAR STUPIDITY !!!!

  10. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

A fucking 6 week rental for a million dollars a week! We had to include a player because this eats ALL PLUS of our cap room this season.

  11. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t really love the trade either bc I think a 1st rounder is too high a piece

But I wanted to acquire a pass rusher

You need to keep adding pass rushers to seriously consider contending when the other team files Mahomes or Allen

  12. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  13. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  14. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Not one, but TWO trades

  15. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  16. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Miami is trying to win NOW while our QB is still on a rookie deal. Simple.

  17. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Me likey

  18. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  19. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Jeff Wilson’s stat line from 2020 is pretty solid

  20. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“Wilson ranks 11th in the NFL in rushing with 454 yards, but San Francisco has a crowded backfield with the arrival of Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell close to returning from injury.”

  21. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

So do we now we rotate Ogbah, Phillips, Ingram, and Chubb kind of interchangeably?

  22. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Chubb is 13th in the nfl in sacks and is now our leading sacker

  23. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    wow
Those are two HUGE trades that will help us RIGHT NOW!!

Edmonds was not working out and needed a change of scene to get his head straight.

    Chubb is a BEAST and
Ogbah has a bad back, which can be a death sentence for a pass rusher’s career.

Plus we do not really have a true DE on the roster besides Ogbah, even if he gets healthy, which I certainly hope he does!

And McDaniel knows Jeff Wilson, who will need like an hour to get up to speed with Miami.

PLUS Wilson is 6′ and 213, giving us that bigger, powerback that we have been lacking.

  24. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:
  25. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Broke my mouse at work…..

Stealing the mouse from the empty desk in the upstairs office.

NOT happy with the king’s ransom for a chubb

  26. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I just like to scream Chubb and Sacks when it comes down to it

  27. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Win Now!!!!

  28. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Chubb is a top five pick and only 26. I will hate the trade if he doesn’t sign a new contract, but other than that have to trust in the front office.

  29. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

  30. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

So like I said the other day, Grier is definitely going to go for it at the trade deadline

  31. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I really feel we’re more than a single player away from contending, so I am not keen on trading a high draft pick for a guy we now have to pay top $$$ for, but I like what our FO has done over the last couple years, and it’s a done deal, so I’m looking at the positive side of this and how it can potentially be great for us. I like Chubb the player. Time will tell if it was a mistake or not. I also think the Niners are going to make a run in the playoffs, so it’ll probably be a late 1st anyway.

We’re moving in the right direction and we have all commented on how much we need our pass rush to improve. Well, this gives us a good individual pass rusher and hopefully Phillips continues to improve.

I really like the Wilson pick up and simultaneously jettisoning Edmonds.

  32. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Loved what I saw on the Jeff Wilson tape. He’s got a great burst. Clocked a 4.57 40 at his combine, but those first 10 yards are what really count….. on most plays at least.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I remember when the 49ers were rotating RBs in and out and I couldn’t figure out who was who because they all looked the same.

  33. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

and the SF draft pick was headed the wrong way for us.

A 23 pick would NOT yield a player the quality of Bradley Chubb,
especially since we KNOW Chubb can play in the league,
    unlike betting on a rook.

  34. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    Chase had 2.9m left this year on cap + 5.7m = 8.6 – 6.7m for Chubb =1.9m left

Wilson only makes 1.085m so his addition – whoever we cut shout about be a push

  35. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Chubb is about to get paid. The going rate for elite pass rushers is over $25 million, and the Dolphins will have no choice but pay it.

  36. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Chubb is liable to explode with some good coaching and team spirit.
Denver has been mired in the blahs his whole career.

  37. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

    So who’s got a chubb?

    And a Wilson

and us Draftnicks got a year off!!!!

  38. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Chubb is 6’4 and 275.
    That’s a real DE prototype.
Ogbah is listed at 6’4 269.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But right now we go with Raekwon, Wilkins and Ogbah up front. For sure he could back up/switch with Ogbah r they could change to a 4-3 base, but I think he’ll be an OLB/edge.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Chubb plays as an OLB in a 3-4. He was paired with Von Miller in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense. He’s an immediate plug and play in our defense.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Why I said what I said, but then maybe he end’s up a 4-3 DE as well. All it needs is a slight change to the scheme.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We do that already. But we don’t play a pure 4-3 scheme.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I know — was just trying to play a polite devil’s advocate to Naple’s suggestion that Chubb would be a DE.

  39. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

  40. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

You can get a great CB in the second round,
but the drop off at EDGE is much more steep after about pick # 16-ish.

  41. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

All we’ve done since we all started blogging is get disappointed with the season and then our focus was about the draft. I’m tired of that. I want to win.

  42. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    468 rushing 2 tds, 10 of 13 targets for 91 yards

MM knows him, so Wilson works for me

  43. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

    Official (physicals pending)

  44. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Wilson is a much bigger load to bring down than Edmonds.
    He’s instantly our biggest RB.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He’s a little bigger than Mostert and Mostert is faster but their running style is very similar. Now we have to backs that are a perfect fit for our offense.

  45. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

    LMAO

  46. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We got Wilson for a dozen doughnuts!

  47. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    Definitely win now mode

I’d like to see Phiilips playing RDE with Chubb standing over his right shoulder, Phillips drops into coverage and Chubb rushes

The poor LT setting up for a speed rush gets bull rushed instead

    Then reverse the roles

  48. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

Well you can’t have them all

  49. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Love these 2 trades, maybe we can actually beat a bad (news Bears) team by double digits

  50. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Watching Broncos vs 49ers earlier, I posted how good the Donkies D was

Their pass rush had a lot to do with that, especially Chubb

  51. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Wilson has a bit more OOMPH a when he hits someone, where Mostert skips around them

  52. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Good thing we have Phillips on his rookie deal for two more years at 3.8M and 4.4M because they are about to back up a truck for Chub.

    That was a fun break

  55. Ken's avatar Ken says:

It will be a fun ride home listening to NFL radio

  56. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Miami has generated pretty much no pressure on opposing QB this year. Made Zach Wilson look like Peyton Manning. They needed to do something and they did. The Mahomes, Allen, and Herberts of the NFL have to be put down if we expect Miami to be a competitive team. It would be awesome if Miami can start pressuring the QB without blitzing. I could give a rat’s ass about backend of the draft 1st round pick that might or might not pan out.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

this trade might or might not work out also…just a reminder

The toughest part for Chubb has been the injuries. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the fourth game of the 2019 season and missed the remainder of that year. Then last season, he had to have bone spurs removed from both ankles in separate surgeries, weeks apart, and he played in just seven games. As a result, he’s missed 24 regular-season games and hasn’t played a full season or finished with more than 7.5 sacks since he was a rookie.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Injuries are my only concern, but if you do nothing you waste a year, as we weren’t winning an SB this year without these trades, who knows with them

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

All true and every move including drafting someone at 23 has risk. There is no guarantee any trade or draft pick works out. What we do know is that when Chubb is healthy he is a stud. He appears to be healthy. If so and we do sign he will be better than anyone we could have drafted next year

      • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

True Rock. But injuries are the wildcard whether it’s a rookie or a vet. At least we know Chubb can play at a high level when healthy.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Only if you’d rather have Jackson and Iggy

We should be in negotiations with Shell on a longterm deal

  57. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We gave up a first round pick and a 4th round pick for a guy who was going to be a free agent 10 weeks from now.

  58. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

So, how many pro-bowl invites for Miami this season?

  59. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Yay, go chubb….

  60. Ken's avatar Ken says:

For years we wanted our team to be relevant. We are now and the FO is trying to seize the moment. I like it.

  61. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I also like what this says about how the FO sees this team:
    They believe in Tua.
They see the OL is jelling with 3 guys ranked in the top 10 in their positions.
    They believe in MM.
They know we have elite playmakers.
    They want to win now.

    No more:
    Trading for Watson.
    Courting Brady.
Trading away our best talent for picks.
    3 year plans.

  62. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

IMO, Chubb is not near elite and think we gave too much for him. That said, I think he has the potential to make a big impact on this team. Hope he stays healthy.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

He’s a bull rusher with quicks, those types don’t leave holes underneath to run through, like Jason Taylor did

  63. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I posted about RB Wilson a few times this year and most recently a couple weeks ago when Edmonds was struggling. I was pounding the table for us to sign him before we signed Edmonds. I was upset then when we didn’t go after him and we went for Edmonds instead. Y’all are late to the game. LOL

  64. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I kind of feel the same way as Rock. I mean he doesn’t have impressive #’s and has been injured every other year.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We’ve got enough pass rushers to hold down the fort, but we didn’t have anyone great, that when both teams are at their best that great one can dictate what an O can do

If we can now rush with two of Chubb, Phillips and Ogbah and only have to rush 4, our D can be great

  65. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Q — You know what trading our first for Chubb means?

A — Tua is now officially a franchise QB.

  66. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We don’t have to worry about re-signing Phillips for quite some time. He also has a 5th year option.

  67. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Would we rather be like the teams trading players away rather than trying to get over the hump?

  68. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Wonder if either of the new guys see the field this Sunday? Think Chubb would more than Wilson. I know Wilson knows most of the system but there’s a little more to it than that.

  69. New Age's avatar New Age says:

I like the trade a lot. Back issues are a bad thing for rushers and Ogbah hasn’t been good or healthy. Dude has 1 sack in 7 games. We need a lot more than that. Grier is pretty good at finding DBs but not particularly good at the other positions so losing another 1st means nothing much especially if we start getting in the playoffs regularly.

As Tim said, I’d rather be talking more this time of year than during the offseason so any advancements towards winning the real games is fine by me.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

We have a bunch of pass rushers now. Looking over the list I’m curious as to why we didn’t get more sacks before.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Yeah, we got a lot of names but very little production. Ingram, two sacks total, both in Bills game. Flowers picked up to put on IR. Ogbah 1 sack. You’d think we’d see a lot more but based off this trade, they weren’t doing enough. It’s always a numbers game but something hasn’t impressed the coaches either.

  72. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

  92. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Something I’ve thought about that I’ve not seen or heard today: Mike Gesicki didn’t get dealt like some ‘experts’ thought. Thus, we either let him walk and get a compensatory selection out of him, or we’re re-signing him next season.

Shall be interesting to see how well Gesicki plays (or is utilized) down the stretch.

  94. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  95. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I wanted to say earlier. Rock, we have a 5th year option on Phillips so we don’t have to worry about him for a few years.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

good point, but 5th year is like franchise that it averages top salaries so it’s not at the “cheaper” rookie rate. But you are right about keeping his rights, along with the tag the following year if need be.

  96. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Everyone can debate the Chubb trade which I like, but I really like the lesser Wilson trade as well. It’s like having two of the same type of back with him and Mostert. They run very similar.
