😡 page turn
Well, MF13, you were right about us making a splash trade and I was wrong.
But it didn’t include Rowe, so 😛
Who has a Chubb-y for this trade?
Hulk like
Pops Boner
Gonna put this out again post page turn.
“The Dolphins are sending RB Chase Edmonds and 2 draft picks to the Broncos for EDGE Bradley Chubb. The Broncos are getting a 2023 first-rounder that initially belonged to San Francisco, as well as a 4th-rounder in 2024. Miami will get a 5th-rounder in 2025. “
We need pass rushers and this team is ready to win. I like the let’s go for it mentality
That was the offseason motto, we’re all in.
More Gaskin too. A bonus imo
And we got rid of Edmunds.. some will be quite happy 😃
Might be some salary saving in that as well.
Lol
Horrible trade! Fucking Grier! A player our ONLY First round pick next year and a 4th in 2034 for a 6 week rental of a player!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That 2025 5th rounder is worth more!!!!!
FUCKING GRIER!
They are working out a long term deal for him
Yeah, they are expected to…..
Right now it is a 6 week rental at a million per week.
Those in season trades sometimes come with a clause about a long term deal
SHEAR STUPIDITY !!!!
A fucking 6 week rental for a million dollars a week! We had to include a player because this eats ALL PLUS of our cap room this season.
I don’t really love the trade either bc I think a 1st rounder is too high a piece
But I wanted to acquire a pass rusher
You need to keep adding pass rushers to seriously consider contending when the other team files Mahomes or Allen
That makes sense since the 49ers just acquired McCaffrey.
Not one, but TWO trades
well, didn’t see this coming at all.
This was more the kind of trade I figured we’d make, if at all.
I love it!!!!
Miami is trying to win NOW while our QB is still on a rookie deal. Simple.
Me likey
Jeff Wilson’s stat line from 2020 is pretty solid
“Wilson ranks 11th in the NFL in rushing with 454 yards, but San Francisco has a crowded backfield with the arrival of Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell close to returning from injury.”
Exactly!
So do we now we rotate Ogbah, Phillips, Ingram, and Chubb kind of interchangeably?
I think bottom line is Van Ginkle just lost some playing time. I’m not even sure if he sits down in the LB or DL room, but he’s a bit small for a 3-4 DE.
Heck, I forgot about Van Ginkle.
he is an OLB (or at least was in Den)
Chubb is 13th in the nfl in sacks and is now our leading sacker
He has zero sacks for miami so, no, he is not our leading sacker.
wow
Those are two HUGE trades that will help us RIGHT NOW!!
Edmonds was not working out and needed a change of scene to get his head straight.
Chubb is a BEAST and
Ogbah has a bad back, which can be a death sentence for a pass rusher’s career.
Plus we do not really have a true DE on the roster besides Ogbah, even if he gets healthy, which I certainly hope he does!
And McDaniel knows Jeff Wilson, who will need like an hour to get up to speed with Miami.
PLUS Wilson is 6′ and 213, giving us that bigger, powerback that we have been lacking.
Him and Mostert is like having the same back in a rotation.
He runs aggressively like mostert does
Broke my mouse at work…..
Stealing the mouse from the empty desk in the upstairs office.
NOT happy with the king’s ransom for a chubb
I just like to scream Chubb and Sacks when it comes down to it
Win Now!!!!
Yep!
Chubb is a top five pick and only 26. I will hate the trade if he doesn’t sign a new contract, but other than that have to trust in the front office.
I suspect they are planning on signing him which is fine with giving up that high of a pick
If we only get him for half a season then the trade makes no sense.
So like I said the other day, Grier is definitely going to go for it at the trade deadline
That’s what the offseason motto was all about.
I really feel we’re more than a single player away from contending, so I am not keen on trading a high draft pick for a guy we now have to pay top $$$ for, but I like what our FO has done over the last couple years, and it’s a done deal, so I’m looking at the positive side of this and how it can potentially be great for us. I like Chubb the player. Time will tell if it was a mistake or not. I also think the Niners are going to make a run in the playoffs, so it’ll probably be a late 1st anyway.
We’re moving in the right direction and we have all commented on how much we need our pass rush to improve. Well, this gives us a good individual pass rusher and hopefully Phillips continues to improve.
I really like the Wilson pick up and simultaneously jettisoning Edmonds.
Good thing we got 2
I think we are more experience or seasoning away than a player away from competing. I think the core talent is here its now about coming together with adding a piece or 2
Loved what I saw on the Jeff Wilson tape. He’s got a great burst. Clocked a 4.57 40 at his combine, but those first 10 yards are what really count….. on most plays at least.
I remember when the 49ers were rotating RBs in and out and I couldn’t figure out who was who because they all looked the same.
and the SF draft pick was headed the wrong way for us.
A 23 pick would NOT yield a player the quality of Bradley Chubb,
especially since we KNOW Chubb can play in the league,
unlike betting on a rook.
It was a no-brainer for me.
Chase had 2.9m left this year on cap + 5.7m = 8.6 – 6.7m for Chubb =1.9m left
Wilson only makes 1.085m so his addition – whoever we cut shout about be a push
Chubb is about to get paid. The going rate for elite pass rushers is over $25 million, and the Dolphins will have no choice but pay it.
I think this trade guarantees Byron Jones is gone next year. And honestly, with the new guys showing some stuff and him still not being ready to go, maybe that was the plan anyway. He certainly hasn’t been worth what we pay him.
It guarantees nothing, we need 2 elite CBs
You can’t pay everyone and Jones seems logical.
And either will Chubb, Just my prediction.
Sure
Chubb is liable to explode with some good coaching and team spirit.
Denver has been mired in the blahs his whole career.
So who’s got a chubb?
And a Wilson
and us Draftnicks got a year off!!!!
2 years off
Chubb is 6’4 and 275.
That’s a real DE prototype.
Ogbah is listed at 6’4 269.
But right now we go with Raekwon, Wilkins and Ogbah up front. For sure he could back up/switch with Ogbah r they could change to a 4-3 base, but I think he’ll be an OLB/edge.
Chubb plays as an OLB in a 3-4. He was paired with Von Miller in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense. He’s an immediate plug and play in our defense.
Why I said what I said, but then maybe he end’s up a 4-3 DE as well. All it needs is a slight change to the scheme.
We do that already. But we don’t play a pure 4-3 scheme.
I know — was just trying to play a polite devil’s advocate to Naple’s suggestion that Chubb would be a DE.
H. Shit!
It is impossible to speak ill of this.
I’ve been waiting a long time to post this gif
https://twitter.com/theflyingpig44/status/1587528770239561729?s=61&t=D0YunpWxCcnMAB_4xa4nug
You can get a great CB in the second round,
but the drop off at EDGE is much more steep after about pick # 16-ish.
Buyer hard to get a pass rusher after the first 20 picks
It’s like trying to get a LT or a QB
All we’ve done since we all started blogging is get disappointed with the season and then our focus was about the draft. I’m tired of that. I want to win.
valid
468 rushing 2 tds, 10 of 13 targets for 91 yards
MM knows him, so Wilson works for me
Official (physicals pending)
Wilson is a much bigger load to bring down than Edmonds.
He’s instantly our biggest RB.
He’s a little bigger than Mostert and Mostert is faster but their running style is very similar. Now we have to backs that are a perfect fit for our offense.
LMAO
We got Wilson for a dozen doughnuts!
Have you seen the price of Krispy Kreme’s these days
Definitely win now mode
I’d like to see Phiilips playing RDE with Chubb standing over his right shoulder, Phillips drops into coverage and Chubb rushes
The poor LT setting up for a speed rush gets bull rushed instead
Then reverse the roles
Well you can’t have them all
Love these 2 trades, maybe we can actually beat a bad (news Bears) team by double digits
Watching Broncos vs 49ers earlier, I posted how good the Donkies D was
Their pass rush had a lot to do with that, especially Chubb
lmao!!!
Wilson has a bit more OOMPH a when he hits someone, where Mostert skips around them
Mostert runs pretty physical as well.
Is Mrs. Toba jealous that we all the Niners RBs now?
No she has McCaffrey, and Mitchell coming off IR soon
Does she have room for a McCaffrey fat head on her side of the football room? 🙂
Good thing we have Phillips on his rookie deal for two more years at 3.8M and 4.4M because they are about to back up a truck for Chub.
And we’ll still bitch our passrush sucks, especially when the backend isn’t doing their job
Alright – back to work for me.
That was a fun break
It will be a fun ride home listening to NFL radio
Miami has generated pretty much no pressure on opposing QB this year. Made Zach Wilson look like Peyton Manning. They needed to do something and they did. The Mahomes, Allen, and Herberts of the NFL have to be put down if we expect Miami to be a competitive team. It would be awesome if Miami can start pressuring the QB without blitzing. I could give a rat’s ass about backend of the draft 1st round pick that might or might not pan out.
Agree
this trade might or might not work out also…just a reminder
The toughest part for Chubb has been the injuries. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the fourth game of the 2019 season and missed the remainder of that year. Then last season, he had to have bone spurs removed from both ankles in separate surgeries, weeks apart, and he played in just seven games. As a result, he’s missed 24 regular-season games and hasn’t played a full season or finished with more than 7.5 sacks since he was a rookie.
Injuries are my only concern, but if you do nothing you waste a year, as we weren’t winning an SB this year without these trades, who knows with them
All true and every move including drafting someone at 23 has risk. There is no guarantee any trade or draft pick works out. What we do know is that when Chubb is healthy he is a stud. He appears to be healthy. If so and we do sign he will be better than anyone we could have drafted next year
True Rock. But injuries are the wildcard whether it’s a rookie or a vet. At least we know Chubb can play at a high level when healthy.
Only if you’d rather have Jackson and Iggy
We should be in negotiations with Shell on a longterm deal
We gave up a first round pick and a 4th round pick for a guy who was going to be a free agent 10 weeks from now.
AND we have to pay him like a FA anyway.
But no doubt the plan is to exercise our rights to keep him. And if that gets us to a SB it is totally worth even if it is just for 10 weeks.
It’s the same situation as when we traded for Tyreek. The contract is to follow.
So, how many pro-bowl invites for Miami this season?
Seven
Waddle, Hill, Armstead, Howard (by reputation) possible Tua, Williams, Hunt and Chubb
Yay, go chubb….
Good to see you come around 😉
Grouch. Gonna get you a new avi….

got you covered. I’m soooooo happy…..
For years we wanted our team to be relevant. We are now and the FO is trying to seize the moment. I like it.
I also like what this says about how the FO sees this team:
They believe in Tua.
They see the OL is jelling with 3 guys ranked in the top 10 in their positions.
They believe in MM.
They know we have elite playmakers.
They want to win now.
No more:
Trading for Watson.
Courting Brady.
Trading away our best talent for picks.
3 year plans.
Agreed.
IMO, Chubb is not near elite and think we gave too much for him. That said, I think he has the potential to make a big impact on this team. Hope he stays healthy.
He’s a bull rusher with quicks, those types don’t leave holes underneath to run through, like Jason Taylor did
I posted about RB Wilson a few times this year and most recently a couple weeks ago when Edmonds was struggling. I was pounding the table for us to sign him before we signed Edmonds. I was upset then when we didn’t go after him and we went for Edmonds instead. Y’all are late to the game. LOL
I’ve long been convinced that Grier comes here and follows your posts. 🙂
LMAO! He sure did about Skylar! 😉
I kind of feel the same way as Rock. I mean he doesn’t have impressive #’s and has been injured every other year.
We’ve got enough pass rushers to hold down the fort, but we didn’t have anyone great, that when both teams are at their best that great one can dictate what an O can do
If we can now rush with two of Chubb, Phillips and Ogbah and only have to rush 4, our D can be great
Q — You know what trading our first for Chubb means?
A — Tua is now officially a franchise QB.
At least that’s what the team thinks of him, and really all that matters
We can’t get a tackle or high quality left guard to protect that quarterback until year after next?
Until they trade that 1st as well. lol
That’s OK I guess Greer sucks at office of line evaluation anyway. We’ll just piecemeal it with retreads and injury replacements until Tua retires early
You’re stuck in the Tannehill years
Everything is different now!
Cheetah is fast try to keep up
We don’t have to worry about re-signing Phillips for quite some time. He also has a 5th year option.
Would we rather be like the teams trading players away rather than trying to get over the hump?
Wonder if either of the new guys see the field this Sunday? Think Chubb would more than Wilson. I know Wilson knows most of the system but there’s a little more to it than that.
McCaffrey played right away for SF.
I’m sure they’ll both play, they’re healthy
I’m sure Wilson can have a package of plays ready to go in with by Sunday
And Chubb knows where the Quarterback is 😁
I like the trade a lot. Back issues are a bad thing for rushers and Ogbah hasn’t been good or healthy. Dude has 1 sack in 7 games. We need a lot more than that. Grier is pretty good at finding DBs but not particularly good at the other positions so losing another 1st means nothing much especially if we start getting in the playoffs regularly.
As Tim said, I’d rather be talking more this time of year than during the offseason so any advancements towards winning the real games is fine by me.
We have a bunch of pass rushers now. Looking over the list I’m curious as to why we didn’t get more sacks before.
Yeah, we got a lot of names but very little production. Ingram, two sacks total, both in Bills game. Flowers picked up to put on IR. Ogbah 1 sack. You’d think we’d see a lot more but based off this trade, they weren’t doing enough. It’s always a numbers game but something hasn’t impressed the coaches either.
Agreed, I want playoffs again
I like the two trades we improved on both sides of the ball.
I feel we have improved… and 1 less pick to be taken away for Ross doing some stupid 🤷♂️ Saul Goodman 👍🤡
Rock if you gonna count the 4th we gave up ya need to count the pick we got back as well 😊
I said in my original post that the 2025/5 round pick was the most valuable piece of the trade
Dolphins have given up an average of 2.1 sacks a game. That’s tied for 11th least in the NFL. Maybe our OL isn’t as bad as OD thinks.
Zero by Pitt
2 for the Lions
Average trending down to 1 per on the last two. Both Wins as well.
I think it is night and day from last year , part of that is Tuas quick twitch , but our run blocking has been very good as well
No our office of line is bad. Tua gets the ball out fast and makes them look better than they are.
Tua got hurt and it slowed things down if he didn’t get hurt we’d already be in the middle of what we’re about to see. Get ready for blast off 💥
Mike E,
I’m about 3-4 chapters into King of Ashes. I have not formed an opinion as yet other than I am surprised at how different the writing style is from the midkemia novels almost like it’s a different author.

You’re stuck in the Tannehill years
Everything is different now!
Cheetah is fast try to keep up
Oh he built a playoff offense of line when I wasn’t looking? My bad. 🙄
Hope that toe holds up. Not practicing every week may catch up even if you are a pro bowl talent you still need to practice.
I gots a chubby over Chubb
I don’t. LOL
We got a good player who should elevate our pass rush. It’s not like we got a TJ Watt. IMO
Phillips on one side, Chubb on da udder, I think both will prosper
Hopefully Ogbah gets healthy and this defense starts playing like it did the second half of last season, and with Chubb, even better!
As further proof the trade was bad….NFL Live cast loved it and are talking SB for miami…..
If we become a legit contender that’s all that matters.
Bingo

—————-
The biggest chunk of those came when Bridgewater and Skylar were in there.
Gotta like that our team is trying to win now rather than waiting for years down the road.
Twice – Tim is having trouble getting posts through, they’re going directly to spam. Not sure how to make that stop
I can approve those posts, but not sure how to permanently fix that issue so that they don’t go to spam
From a guy who covers the Broncos a lot
They always say, you can’t have enough pass rushers.
Tim’s posts going to spam. Too much Monty Python
LOL
It’s useless to make assessments of this trade right now, yet I love the conversations. The way I see it, if Chubb shows and proves, he was worth it. If not, we just blew our 1st rounder for next year (after we already had one rubbed out).
I certainly hope it works out!!! Time shall reveal…
It certainly seems as though we’re mimicking the LA Rams’ way to building a winner… by trading our draft capital for proven talent… to WIN NOW.
That stated, Byron Jones is GONE next year, IMO (and as somebody up the page had stated).
Suh is still out there 👀
You mean Suh?
LOL, you changed it from Duh to Suh. I thought that’s who ya meant.
I mean, if the price is right and he’s ready to roll, why not?
The power of the pen lol

But it didn’t include Rowe, so 😛
———–
LOL, all good, man! I’m very surprised Rowe wasn’t dealt, too: that makes two of us.
Something I’ve thought about that I’ve not seen or heard today: Mike Gesicki didn’t get dealt like some ‘experts’ thought. Thus, we either let him walk and get a compensatory selection out of him, or we’re re-signing him next season.
Shall be interesting to see how well Gesicki plays (or is utilized) down the stretch.
By the way and JMO… Hunter Long SUCKS.
^ yeah, ready to write bust on him.
Yessir!
Boo!
Hey look at that.
Halloween was yesterday! LOL 😉
LOL
Okay it seems I’m good to go.
That’s your opinion. LOL 😉
I wanted to say earlier. Rock, we have a 5th year option on Phillips so we don’t have to worry about him for a few years.
good point, but 5th year is like franchise that it averages top salaries so it’s not at the “cheaper” rookie rate. But you are right about keeping his rights, along with the tag the following year if need be.
Everyone can debate the Chubb trade which I like, but I really like the lesser Wilson trade as well. It’s like having two of the same type of back with him and Mostert. They run very similar.
This is what I mean. They both get going quickly and don’t dance around.
I just want an ‘untackleable’ fuck in our backfield to complement Raheem Mostert’s speed. Ya know, THUNDER to our LIGHTNING.
Someone like Rashaad Penny, but without Penny’s injury history.
He plays fast. He’s a huge upgrade to Edmonds.
I think he is an upgrade in this system over Chase Edmonds and think he will contribute a lot to the offense.
🍻
First smart thing you said all day lol
