There was a lot to like about Miami tonight. They showed grit and effort in large quantities. And Tua had an improved effort.

Those who thought Miami would roll over and play dead were proven wrong. The status of the defensive secondary worries me. Perhaps a free agent or two can be brought in and contribute right away.

Make no mistake about it. The Miami Dolphins can go into anyones house and give them all they want. What they earned tonight was – – –

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

To me, the breaking the plane rule is just as bad as the tuck rule. Why do they reward a player at the most important part of the field when they stick the ball out and fumble? It makes no sense

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Because the second the ball breaks the play the play is over . That rule will never change.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Bri – I understand the idea of the rule. This is my feeling. Why do you reward a player in the end zone, where anywhere else on the field, that’s a fumble? When you catch a pass, if you come down in the end zone, rill over, and then the ball pops out, it’s no TD. Instead, a player sticks the ball out, it gets slapped away, but the broke plane of the endzone and you reward 6 points for that? WHY????

  37. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We are 6-4 in conference now (Pats 5-3, Chargers 5-4, Jets 5-5).

Bookman: I am not necessarily calling this a Moral Victory, but the way they looked in the last two games I was scared of a 48-3 Buffalo win .. I am happy the team looked MUCH better this week , and came damn close to beating one of the top teams in the league.. I hope we play as with as much grit for the rest of the season .. if we do , we could end up running the table and getting in .. on a Good Day we can beat anyone , on our worst days , we can lose to anyone

    • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

I know you live in Wisconsin, but geez man, you’re sounding like a closet Packers fan. We WILL beat Pack at home. Packers SUCK. They are the Browns just a bit further north.

Yeah Bookman, we all get your frustration my friend . We have a good team. We may not be where we want to be at the end of the year but we are headed in the right direction. We still have a good shot of making the playoffs, and if we get there, anything can happen. The good thing is if we have to play Buffalo at some point, I’d honestly rather lose this game to them, because beating a team three times in a year is nearly impossible.

We still control our playoff destiny. Beat the Patriots and Jets and we are in

  49. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Like BBM said, the way we lost the 2 West Coast games frustrated me way more than losing this game. We played a very good game against one of the league’s best in their house in the conditions they hoped for. We took them to the wire. I understand no moral victories. I’m disappointed that our team that was standing at 8-4 and looking like a possibly a #2 or #3 seed will be lucky to be a #6 or #7 seed now. That bugs the fuck out of me. I guess I think your anger is misplaced at the moment. This loss stings, but it doesn’t hurt me as much because we almost won. The downright awful performances on the WC trip kill me.

We played a really good game and came up short. I just wish I has seen this the last two weeks. I still think we beat the Packers and the Pats but lose to the Jets. 10-7 may get us in but I don’t think we have the defense to get past the first round.

Tim, you don’t know that as fact just like Christians can’t prove he is factual either. Even if you are right, it seems like humans are pretty evil and don’t learn from mistakes. I couldn’t imagine a higher civilization coming to Earth and wanting us to be part of that higher civilization.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bingo! Humans are evil. Many of us don’t follow simple principles of law and order. Earth is only a few thousand years old? Okay. Sorry that’s so ignorant we might as well call it a day.

Do you all realize we decide public policy based on faith and fantasy?

So God allows children to be brutalized because he has a plan?

Please…. someone explain this to me.

Are we not allowed to see it for what it is?

  62. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

MM must have gotten the memo…run the fucking ball!

But, MM missed the memo when the flurries showed up. That’s when you attack on offense and defense because everyone is sliding. If you’re going backwards or reacting you will lose most every time.

The last series the Dolphins had the ball, I told a friend the flurries are going to affect the end of this game. The O needs to run right at them in attacking fashion and throw darts. Their D will be on their heels. But, MM didn’t address the running attack and no darts. He went outside and around and didn’t adjust. That’s on MM.

What did Buffalo do on the last possession of the game? Attacked with the run and Allen threw darts.

Can’t believe we were in the game at the end, but there is no moral victory.

  63. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

There was a Tua sighting! Where the fuck has he been? Lol!

  65. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Tua did play much better but his tight window throws were just a little off. He was on target but if he led WR’s just a foot more on a few throws they may have been completed. The throws had to be perfect though and that is a lot to ask.

I am still pissed at the lack of calls on DPI. Especially the one where the DB was wrapped around Hill’s waist preventing him for going up and getting the ball. That one was a 3rd down play (if I remember correctly) and would have been at least a 20 yard gain.

  66. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Good morning guys

Well I guess the phrase “let’s win one for the Pigger” will never catch on

Other than ultimately losing I thought we played good football and the kind of football I want this team to play

Running the ball was nice to see
It was also nice that we stopped the run except those designed QB sneaks

Guys I don’t care how good he is at it – there’s no way I would like to be a team that thinks of itself as a superbowl contender that relies heavily on the QB draw to gain yards on the ground

He looked reckless at time with the ball. The stats sheet shows he had 2 fumbles – it was actually 3 Bc that 2 point conversion should not have be reversed
It could have easily been 5

We went to Buffalo with horrible weather and they gave us their best – and we countered

I’m also furious about the amount of PI the officials are letting DB get away with on our receivers the last 3 games
On the other hand they call anything on us including that game changing penalty towards the end

Tua looked good to me. So did waddle and hill. My biggest disappointment this season is Gesicki. The one ball he catches he does nothing with. Look at Knox breaking tackles all game and our guy is almost instantly on the ground 🤷‍♂️

That Braylon Sanders play was also a big miss. I know he’s new to the roster but his first play didn’t show good instincts. Instead of going out to stretch and make a catch – he’s goes into and tries to subtly push off the DB. Dude lost about a foot of arm reach by doing that

Our than that I thought going on the road and giving Buffalo hell means we are the team that makes teams lose sleep this playoffs. We aren’t going to get any home playoff games. But this team can complete with the best in the afc on their own turf. Now that we are firmly a wildcard team we have to make sure we are a good road team – and we were a great road team pst night

I still think this team is just as good as a team as I thought it was before our 3 game trip

  67. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I liked MM’s game plan/play calling up until the 4th quarter. We went from running the ball 50% of the time to about 30% in the 4th quarter (we had the lead and or tied, not behind) then 0% on short down and distance.

  68. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I think Boyer’s game plan was to contain the edges and not let Allen escape which we did for the most part. I think that is why we didn’t see Chubb and Phillips pinning their ears back when it was just a 4 man rush. He got most all his yards on designed QB draw.

I would not be surprised if that was a check down call for Allen based on what he was seeing from our D when they lined up.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I think Boyer’s game plan would have worked if our secondary had not been so depleted and playing practice squad players.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Undoubtedly that was the game plan. I also think it worked for the most part. The Bills didn’t hit many big plays. It is almost impossible to keep Allen and the Bills down for an entire game

  69. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

    Perspective

  70. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I won’t blame the refs for us losing the game. I don’t buy into the victim mentality. Every team has calls that go against them. In the end the Bills made one more play than we did. It was a well played game by 2 really good football teams. I can’t bitch about it

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I won’t blame for this game, but some calls are utterly ridiculous and game changing.

For us, I don’t like how they allow our WRs to be covered. There is a strong argument that almost no team has this much interference allowed until the playoffs. The refs in the Chargers game seemed picky with certain calls on us and not so much for the Chargers. When it seems like hometown refs are in a game, that’s not good for a national sport. The Pitt game in 2009? where half the refs came from Pittsburgh should have never been allowed. Refs have too much power and not enough accountability.

  71. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Tim,

Great points! You’re a smart dude and I enjoy your thoughts on many things. This is a long post. As a dinosaur lover as a child, it was hard to think the world is 6000 years old while seeing all those old bones. I also have had issues with the early years. The first people seemed to breed like rabbits with all their children? It went from one family to Cain moving to other communities really quickly. It makes no sense to me.

All religions have their issues including our current secular one. Women have penises? Children can have informed consent on their gender and self-mutilation? Victims have no rights but it’s noble to allow criminals back into society to bring more crime? Words are dangerous but actual violence is just expressing yourself? People are owed reparations for crimes of the past but only if they are a certain color? Child murder is to be celebrated? You know I could on for years and never stop showing the crazy idiocy.

Humans seem to need to believe in something and I find Christianity to be one of the better options. If you look at Christ, wasn’t he a pretty good dude? If you just follow his actions and nothing else, isn’t that pretty good? People need some kind of example and I haven’t found a better one. Yet, being like Christ is the hardest thing any person could ever try to do. It’s virtually impossible as an evil human to emulate Christ for any significant time. I can put on a show but deep inside, we are bad apples.

I find the argument about God and children to be one the easiest to explain though. If you look at it from a logical perspective instead of an emotional one, God provides freedom of choice. Stopping anything from happening can prevent this. If God stopped every bad person, does that allow free choice? Not really, does it? Do people learn anything but complete dependence? Not really. Look at our welfare programs. Look at any example of people being given everything free, and you see dependency and laziness. You never see them learn their lesson. Not once and it’s also in the Bible as well. If you give Christians the benefit of doubt and allow them to use the Bible, what does it show? God constantly helping people and them constantly going back into sin. The best example are the Jews who left Egypt. God did so much for them and they were some of the most rebellious. Never thankful. Always trying to promote anything but God. Given free food, a new place to live, and freedom form bondage. Never thankful. That’s humanity in a nutshell. If God prevented bad things from happening to kids would we thank him? Would we follow his rules? Would it keep evil out of our hearts? No, and you know this deep down inside. Man brings evil to himself and other men. Not God.

  72. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Ken, not sure I agree. There were some blatant no calls out there that ended drives and changed the game.

  73. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Had to turn channel on TV until games start. Don’t want to watch yesterday’s highlights.

  74. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Bottom line is we got beat by Josh Allen’s legs. Running QBs are a problem for our defense. On the other hand, against a top notch defense our run game was “playoff ready”.
This three game road stretch was a BIG worry for us since the schedule was first released. Many of us were hoping to get out 1-2. We came close to that last night. Sweeping the Bills would have been perfect, but the Charger game bothers me a lot more because that was the “1” of 1-2 in a ridiculous section of the schedule.

  75. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Some facts but not fun facts:

Basically, since game 3 vs Buffalo this team has forgotten how to win the 4th quarter. The Detroit game, we came from behind and won but that was in the 3rd quarter and we got shut out in the 4th quarter. Thankfully, our D also shut them down.

Against the Bears, we had a 20-10 halftime lead got shut out in the 4th quarter and barely held on to win.

In our 6 losses, we could just not win the 4th Quarter.
Bengals we had a 15-14 lead in 4th and lost (yes Tua got knocked out)
Jets we were down 17-19 in 4th and couldn’t pull it off (without Tua)
Vikings we were down 10-16 in 4th and couldn’t pull it off (without Tua)
49er’s we were down 17-23 in 4th and couldn’t pull it off
Chargers we were down 14-17 in 3rd and 14-20 in 4th and couldn’t pull it off
Bills we had a 29-21 lead in 4th and could not hold on

Common denominator is all 6 teams have winning records.

Our first 3 wins were vs teams with (now) winning records.

Our last 5 wins were against teams with all losing records, 21-44-1 combined record.

In our last 11 games, we have not been able to beat not one playoff caliber team.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I do think the injuries we have had played a major role in that. Yeah, every team has injuries but not in the fashion we have had this season losing QB for 3 weeks and all but 2 of our starting secondary out for the season along with one playing many games with a sore groin and missing one.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Nice analysis. I noticed outside of the Ravens game, we’ve been bad in the 4th but that really explains it much better.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

It really bothers me that we have not beat a team with a winning record since week 3.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Same. Lots of people discussed our amazing comeback last year and how we got close to the playoffs, but we beat really bad teams. The first step is to beat the bad teams and we’ve done that mostly, but the Chargers game really set back my expectations. We should have killed them. We’re better than last year but I don’t think we’re quite there…mainly because of those 4th quarter disappearances of our offense.

  76. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Eagles are crazy running Hurts 2 consecutive downs. Then makes a crazy throw for a 1st down on 3rd and 5 rolling g to his left under duress. Then on 1st and 10, he throws an INT. lol

  77. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I hate moral victories, but how many gave us a chance last night before the game?

What about in either of the 2 bills’ games before the season?

D line can get pressure on Allen and make him do things he doesn’t want to do

We just need to make the playoffs, next 3 very winnable

  78. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Our defense just isn’t up to snuff. Yes, our secondary is compromised, but we don’t get to the QB nearly enough without blitzing extra defenders. Hate to say it but I think Raekwon Davis needs to be better, or maybe we just need to get a player at NT/DT. He doesn’t blow up the middle, ever. It was always either Wilkins, Ogbah or Seiler, but Davis is practically invisible

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yeah, don’t know what happened to Davis

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Think of how many times this defense flushed the QB, only to have him step up and then gash us for a big run, or just make time to find an open receiver. If we had pressure or even holding the LOS, the QB couldn’t do that. I can’t remember the last time I saw Davis involved in a play.

  79. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Ravens still have to play at Cin, if they lose 1 and we win out we’d be top WC team seed 5

LMAO @ Sam Darnold. Looks like he stole his dad’s mustache!!

TBH, I feel if we can’t win our last 3 games, we don’t belong in the playoffs. Kind of basing that on my last post. Packers are 5-8 and Pats and Jets barely have winning records.

I’m think if we win next week against GB we win out. We are streaky this season , for better or worse.

We blew the game plain and simple. Up 8 with plenty of chances to increase the lead and run time off the clock and we didn’t do it. Blame the refs, blame the defense, but it was the offense who shrunk when we needed them the most.

Well SB, hate to break this to ya bud, but our offense is 9th in points scored, and that’s including the 3 games Tua missed, and the 2 eggs we laid on the WC with Tua. The defense on the other hand is 26th in points allowed. The defense never carries the day, it bends a lot, and sometimes doesn’t break, but talking about moral victories, they give lots of those, just no wins.

Last night we had 405 yards to their 454. I mean how many games do you allow 454 yards on defense and expect to win?

Texans just converted their 1st 3rd down this year of 11+. They are now 1 for 29.

Remember when that was us a few years ago?

    Against the Bills:
We scored on 6 of our 10 possessions.
We scored on 3 of 6 possessions in the 2nd half.

The Bills scored on 5 of 11 possessions.
The Bills scored on 2 of 7 possessions in the 2nd half (their last two).

You could say we lost because-
the defense couldn’t get one more stop
or the offense couldn’t get one more score
or the offense didn’t do well enough in the redzone

I think we lost because the Bills were better in situational football in both phases.

Bills scored 4 TDs in 5 chances in the redzone (and would have been 5 for 5 if they didn’t choose to kick the fg at the end). They scored 10 points in the last two minutes of both halves.

Dolphins were 2 for 4 TDs in the redzone.

We couldn’t stop them in the redzone or at the end of halves. And we didn’t score enough TDs in the redzone.

I had a buddy in for the weekend and when we had 6 points told him “Two first quarter field goals in the first quarter always seem to come back to haunt you in the end.”
