I’m so happy for Zach Thomas, one of my favorite Miami Dolphins players, for his well deserved induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. It’s been a long time coming, and they made us sweat it out last night, as there are only 9 inductees each year, and Zach Thomas was the last. As soon as I saw Jimmy Johnson as the presenter, I knew it had to be Zach, and my heart raced in excitement and happiness for him. No doubt Jimmy Johnson was largely responsible for Zach Thomas’ success. JJ drafted Zach Thomas in RD 5 of the 1996 NFL Draft, and later signed veteran MLB Jack Del Rio in June of that same year, perhaps as a mentor to the young LB. Once Jimmy saw Zach Thomas up close and on the playing field, he knew Zach had to be on the field at all times. August 5th of 1996, JJ was aware that Zach was a special player man and released the veteran LB Jack Del Rio. Zach Thomas and JJ never looked back.
Zach Thomas played 12 seasons with the Miami Dolphins, is a 5 time All Pro LB, and a 7 time Pro Bowl LB, and now, finally, a Hall of Fame LB. He played the game with so much enthusiasm throughout his entire career, and although concussions threatened to end his career earlier than he would have liked, Zach did anything he could to continue playing the game he loved, and at a high level. I think most of us here remember when he purchased a hyperbaric chamber for his home in order to combat the effects of those concussions. He continued to play the game at a high level until he couldn’t and played one season for the Dallas Cowboys before finally hanging up his cleats. 1734 tackles, 20.5 sacks, 17 INT’s, 16 FF’s, 8 FR’s, 4 defensive TD’s and 74 TFL’s. Just an amazing career, and although many doubted him due to the fact he was undersized at 5’11 230, he was a tremendous impact player and defensive playmaker. He could do it all, and along with his brother in law Jason Taylor, who played DE and OLB were an extremely talented defensive tandem and teammates that made watching Dolphins football from the late 90’s into the late 2000’s so much more enjoyable.
I got to meet Zach Thomas while on vacation at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I was walking with my son to a vendor to get lunch and while walking, I see Zach sitting at a table with his wife and kids. Like a little kid, I got so excited, and embarrassedly said “Mr. Thomas?” He said ” Yeah man, how are you doing?” I replied that I was a huge Dolphins fan and would love to get a picture with him, but I see that you’re with your family and I don’t want to bother you. He immediately got up and said “No problem, I don’t mind at all”. Got the picture and I explained to him briefly how he was one of my favorites, and it was truly a thrill to meet him. The next day I’m at one of the pools at the Atlantis and Zach Thomas walks over and says hello. We have a conversation about him, the Miami Dolphins, Jimmy Johnson, Jack Del Rio, the aforementioned hyperbaric chamber for pretty close to an hour. I remember specifically during our discussion after telling him that JJ loved him right away and how he cut Jack Del Rio, Zach’s face as he knew he wasn’t talking to just a casual fan. When I brought up the hyperbaric chamber, Zach looked at me and said “Damn man, you’re really hardcore!”. I think all of us here are hardcore fans without question, and I’m sure I can say without any hesitation that Zach Thomas was one of the reasons we enjoyed watching this team. Dan Marino may be one of the first guys you think of when you think Miami Dolphins, but Zach Thomas is right there with him for me.
Zach Thomas #54 – Hall of Fame

I really don’t get today’s pop. So much of it is so similar. It’s lesser disco dance music mixed with ballads.
TIM; MY WIFE TURNED OFF the TV and went straight to bed.
Her parting shot was “THIS isn’t entertainment, – – THIS IS TRASH!!”
I told her”If the Chiefs don’t score on their first possession of the 3rd quarter, I’ll be coming straight to bed with you!”
LOL
But don’t count Mahomes and the Chiefs out too quickly, we’ve seen it before.
I only knew one song, but I thought the show was pretty good. It was singing and to rapping, she has a good voice, I could understand the words, and it was kind of cool looking.
Not that it was bad in performance and sound, just that there seems to be 100 artists who do this same music and it’s all over the charts. The rhythms and melodies are so basic and cookie cutter.
“no rapping”
Big drive and TD for the Chiefs.
What shitty field conditions for the biggest game of the season.
It’s ridiculous
Really bad.
Wow!
What a game.
It’s been a while since the top seed in each conference made it, and these aren’t just top seeds, these are very good teams
How hard is to know when you should stay on bounds to run clock?
Juju?
Yep, if he hadn’t voluntarily run out, chiefs could just kneel on it right now. I hate dumb players
Shouldn’t matter now
BOY MY WIFE is going to be sorry she went to bed early tonight!!
THIS MAY end up being the Greatest Super Bowl game of all time!!
Pitt vs Dallas were both pretty good too
anticlimactic
Great game
Both offenses lived up to the hype
Philly gets it to 3rd and 3 and it’s as close to automatic as it gets, hard to stop that, KC couldn’t
Can we next year?
Was that a duck he threw?
He Tua-ed it
Tua could have thrown it farther 🤣
Mahomie
Do we have an OC yet😁
Yes
THIS GAME gets my vote as the best Super Bowl EVER for pure entertainment and drama!!
—————————-
I CAN ALREADY HEAR Philly fan saying “We wuz robbed!!!!”
NOT SO!!
Even if they DON’T call holding on that pass play, Butker STILL kicks about a 27-yarder to put KC up by 3 with less than a minute to go!
—————————
It was the same Butker who hit the upright on a FG try in the first half. Maybe it was poetic justice that he got a chance to redeem himself!
WHAT A WAY TO END THE FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!!!!
Steve, that rugby style stuff they do is impressive. Like you said, about as close to automatic as you can get.
ON THAT LAST PLAY OF THE GAME Jalen Hurts did his impression of Rob from Ocala, right?
2 yards is better than 9? LOL
Up front our defense is set. The back end we have some issues, but still some good players to build on. Grier, McDaniel and Fangio starts tomorrow.
Instead of blitz most of the time, it will be blitz here and there under Fangio. Lots of “Quarters” defense. Not always absolute zone but man/zone. Split the field based on matchups – weak and strong side.
Fangio is going to work the 4 man rush in the Spring and Summer. Ogbah returns with the maturation of Phillips, and Chubb has to have that big season. He was traded for and paid to do that. Then add the bigger boys like Wilkins, Sieler and Davis to the mix. These guys are the key. It starts here.
As of now Baker, Tindall and Goode are signed at LB. X, Kohou, Holland and Brandon Jones at DB along with some other young guys coming off of surgery.
The back end of our defense has to tackle better. It’s never one guy, it’s always been a collective failure in all three phases. Fangio doesn’t stand for that. His defenses are always physical.
Good for him
I hated the holding call, I thought that was far too ticky-tack a call for that time of the game. To say that they would have kicked a FG anyway is ludicrous, because there would have been a lot more time on the clock left, and there was certainly no guarantee that they made the FG anyway, Butker doinked one earlier. Such a bad time in my opinion for an extremely questionable call that basically decided the game.
It’s a pretty routine call, the DB grabbed the jersey impeeding the WR, then after he let go of the jersey, he grabbed him again, without the cheat the WR is all alone in the EZ for an easy TD
If they don’t throw the flag you’d be doing the same thing they did in reverse and KC fans would’ve been pissed
Why reward the guy cheating?
There was barely any contact, I disagree.
Grabbing of the jersey gets called, whenever they see it, pretty routinely, just like hands to the face on a DB at the LOS
Whatever Fangio told Philly didn’t work 🤷♂️
MikeE., he references what you just posted about in the end. lol
I liked the last line, and why I wanted KC to win
The Philly DB thought it was going to be a run, he was going to blitz off of the edge, once he realized it was a pass he grabbed the jersey, not only did it stop the WR, but it stopped his own forward motion
Just glad we weren’t the ones on the wrong end of that call
We know the officiating crew is going to make game changing calls, the fumble for a td called incomplete, the pass to Goeddart on the sideline, the pass to Smith…
Sure seems like they contradict their own rules, create rules that are Grey, so they can decide games
Straight from the horses mouth
https://nypost.com/2023/02/13/james-bradberry-admits-to-holding-call-in-super-bowl-2023/
It’s refreshing to see a player own it. I’ve been hearing niners players crying for two weeks about how unfair their loss was.
Yeah it was cool that he owned it. There were lots of other plays that could have gone other ways. The Chiefs could have had another defensive TD.

What song was that? I caught it midway through.
It was the black national anthem
Yeah a friend of mine told me that’s what it was. Just another way to keep the racial divide going. We’re all Americans. The national anthem is for all of us.
51.Darnell Wright OT Tennessee
77.Ivan Pace Jr. LB Cincinnati
84.Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA
178.Will Mallory TE Miami (FL)
240.Cory Durden DT NC State
I’ve seen a lot of Charbonnet, he’s a great RB, doubt he lasts that long
Nice draft!
SB LVIII in Las Vegas next year expected to bring in $500m to the local economy
In November F1 Racing expected to bring in $1B to LV
Only 3 races in the US this year, one of the other 2 is at our Hardrock Stadium
Ugly penalty will be forgotten, but this game is ruled too inconsistently. Nothing is consistently called in the NFL. Mahomes had some really wide open WRs in the 2nd half but a lot of that is good playcalls. Did anyone notice people calling out Hurts for his final pass? Dude has a noodle of an arm, but I haven’t heard that mentioned often…
Maybe next year all those terrible analysists will finally get that running QB the ring they’ve been wanting the last 15+ years. People don’t want to say it…but that win was just sitting there for Philly to take. The Chiefs dominated them the second half.
Very hungover today .. was cheering for Philly , but Andy Reid beating the team that fired him is kinda cool as well .. I really don’t dislike either team so Saul Goodman
Hard to say where Zach Charbonnet will go. I am thinking 3rd round unless he puts up an impressive 40 time. There were some reports he runs in the low 4.4’s. I don’t think that is accurate nor do I see it. Don’t think I have ever seen him leave the pack when in the open field. I have seen him run over the pack plenty of times. Think he will be a 4.5 to mid 4.5 guy. There are a decent number of good RB’s in this draft but not a lot of big RB’s so that alone could move him up boards.
I’m guessing we need a NT now
LMAO
The ball went 55 yards in the air, the play call made him look bad, you can’t throw a hail Mary from your 30, at least most QBs can’t
I think he threw it short, so it wasn’t picked

———————-
NT Keeanu Benton, 6’4 317 played nosed tackled at Wisconsin. He has the ability to play different techniques on the interior DL. He should be available sometime on day 2.
Later rounds NT Robert Cooper, FSU could be an option. Though, he is only 6’2 at 330 pounds.
There are some bigger fatties but hey lack in any kind of athleticism.
What’s the NT talk all about?
I guess we need to add one for depth. Unless we resign Jenkins.
Oh okay, I thought maybe something happened to Davis. Yeah we probably need a young NT for depth. I picked one in the 7th in my positional mock a few weeks back. Even if he’s purely a big man to plug the middle. You need guys like that.
Was looking at Cedric Wilson’s contract. He has an 8mil cap hit. Can’t cut him as he would still have a 7mil dead cap hit pre-June 1 and a 6mil cap hit post-June 1.
Pre 6/1 trade we would save 6mil and post 6/1 trade we would save 7mil.
We have an out clause after the 2023 season that would only leave us with 1mil dead cap in 2024.
Doubt we would find any trade partners at that price tag and looks like we got Wilson another year.
They missed on that F/A signing/contract.
Yeah but hopefully he can rebound and have a solid 2023 season. He has talent, but he couldn’t crack the lineup for whatever reason.
He’s become a good punt returner at least
I like him there and as depth at WR
Yeah the coaches were trying find ways to get him on the field. Other backup WRs got playing time over him. We’ll see.
Doesn’t our new DC run a primary 3-4 defense?
I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ve read
Yes and more zone coverage. But like all defenses they’re in nickel and dime more than base 3-4.
This is how it usually works.
https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-coaching-staff-soon-to-come-into-focus
Getting Ogbah back is a big upgrade in 2023. That dude creates havoc even if not on the stat sheet.
Below is the full list of the Dolphins’ picks in the 2023 draft:
Round 2: No. 52 overall
Round 3: No. 78 overall
Round 3: No. 85 overall
Round 6: No. 179 overall
Round 7: No. 241 overall
6th and 7th round picks will change when compensatory picks are handed out.
Something happened to Davis. He’s been exposed as an average at best player, despite being surrounded on both sides with very good or great players
Every time he gets going he has a setback, it does take a few years though for DTs in general, besides the elite ones that do more than bite as pups
Interesting that Fangio was a consultant for the Eagles to help the offense against the Chiefs defense, not the defense against their offense. Yet the people on GMF focused on the latter and how it didn’t work. You would think they’d know what his role was being they work for the NFLN.
https://www.nfl.com/news/vic-fangio-quietly-signed-contract-with-eagles-to-help-prepare-them-for-super-bo
Some of y’all have heard me mention Vic Fangio’s “Match-Zone” coverage concepts if you’ve been paying attention… especially as to how it looks very good for Emmanuel Forbes.
Here’s a fairly comprehensive read on how it works… along with links to other principles of Fangio’s Defense.
Tim, you and BB Mike will probably appreciate this as much as anyone…
https://www.milehighreport.com/2019/5/29/18640212/broncos-vic-fangios-coverages
Also, you will recognize that Fangio likes his LBs to be able to excel in coverage assignments.
Well when you call a lot of zone coverage yeah the LBs have to cover. Fangio uses a lot of looks. Much of it based on the quarters defense. He’ll show zone and go man or he’ll show a certain zone look and then switch it before the ball is snapped. That’s why he’s going to want a 4 man front to create a pass rush so he can run the coverage schemes he prefers.
RIP
He was considered one of the nastiest OL in the game. RIP Conrad Dobler.
LOL
Funny
Nice!
Another thing about Fangio, it’s not like he reinvented the wheel. He uses common football formations. His highly regarded reputation is about the way he coaches players, game plans and calls games.
It’s way more than just that. He runs a hybrid scheme. In order for it to be successful, he needs the correct chess pieces. MULTIPLE is how he rolls… just like MULTIPLE is how our O-Line should be run: if one guy goes down, we can flex another into the role of he who went down.
MULTIPLE/FLEXIBLE is a better description… but you get the idea.
He’s definitely multiple but it’s not anything that other teams don’t run.
a. coaches players – to have them prepared and versatile
b. game plans – specific for opponents
c. calls games – based on the opponent and what’s happening in the game
That’s what Fangio does well.

Absolutely correct, man.
And being we’ll be in nickel and dime more often than in our base formation, I wonder if we can do better than Jerome Baker and ??? in coverage.
So if or when a Lavonte David or Tremaine Edmunds hits FA, do we upgrade to fit Fangio’s scheme?
I’m NO ‘Baker Hater’, either… he’s a damn solid ILB, but we could do better, IMO. Re-sign Elandon Roberts, regardless.
Baker is good in coverage so I’m not sure why we’re going to completely deplete our LB room. Not against adding better talent to the group but addition by subtraction doesn’t make much sense to me. Baker can play in any scheme.
I can and will roll with anything Fangio decides… which obviously has to compute with payroll, and Chris Grier.
We’re just talking about the tendencies of a Vic Fangio Defense. I’m merely wondering if we try to UPGRADE at the position.
It’s nothing against Baker, who I really like! It’s a mere conversation piece if nothing else.
So say we released Baker which I think is ridiculous, we’d be re-building the off-ball LBs with just Tindall and Goode (might be more of a Van Ginkel type). No guarantee we re-sign our UFAs. Our LB position would be very thin. We don’t have a ton of cap space to sign top LBs and how many draft picks are we going to use on LB?
To outright release Baker would be absolute foolishness. IF we were to upgrade from Baker, I’d expect a trade… possibly for a 2nd, but probably a 3rd round pick.
But again, and to your point, Baker may be just what the Dr. ordered for Fangio’s Defense. We shall see…
Fangio’s defense is also easier on the players to run. I wonder how much that helps a guy like Tindall who struggled grasping Boyer’s defense. We could see a big upswing in his performance. Hopefully, anyway.
Yeah I think Tindall struggled with the Amoeba blitz concepts – when to blitz and when to drop. All the other other LBs ahead of him were more experienced with it. He definitely has the physical talent to be a good off-ball LB.
I agree with ya as it pertains to the D-Line. As for everyone else, their assignments can change in the middle of a play in real time.
Baker, Tindall, Howard, Holland, Brandon Jones and Kohou could all be really good with Fangio. Just mentioned guys under contract. No idea how the Byron Jones situation pans out.
I recently saw a video of Brandon Jones running pretty well with a brace on his injured leg. But he looked like he’s making good progress.
If I see another post on Facebook or Twitter saying we should sign David Carr I am going to start smashing things
^
If they have sunken to level of suggesting we sign David, who hasn’t played in years, instead of Derek it’s truly rock bottom
I really hope you just mixed the two brothers up….
I mean, as this point it wouldn’t surprise me if they started to suggest we go after Joe Theisman
Derek Carr is going to the Jets, Colts, Panthers or Saints.
Basically one of those 4 teams will offer Carr or Garrappolo top 5 QB money within the first week of free agency
So if you are a talking head and you want to milk more Tua controversy, you better get free agent QBS out of your system before February is over
Tua has played in 13 games in each of the last 2 seasons. People act like he never plays. He was basically the #1 rated QB this past season, but let’s act like he’s run of the mill. Yeah okay. Let’s move on and find some other guy not even close to as good. LOL
It’s not about being #1 rated QB, it’s about what have you done for me lately
He struggled in the SF game and never got back to first half level
I don’t think we should or will get rid of him, but as long as we have Ross…

I still find it hard to believe the salary cap as currently stated, for the 2023 season, with the amount of the new TV deal
Our FA signings last year pushed a lot of money forward, was Grier misinformed, or did they just miscalculated?
Either way I can’t see it staying where it is
I approve of this rule change proposal

I remember it used to be a penalty to do it.

SF blew a 10 pt lead against Mahomes in an SB, like that somehow means you suck, even though Fangio had nothing to do with it
Yes skip the HC, DC and the assistants and blame the 2 week consultant. Even though that’s not what Fangio was doing. The Eagles scored 35 points and tied the game. Maybe that was all Fangio. LOL
Cheats raising ticket prices for the first time since 2008, because of the great team they had last year, they must expect demand to be huge

Wow, sad! See was amazing! RIP
Wyoming, that draft you did earlier was “interesting”. Love your RB choice! Also, CB Riley Moss would be an interesting fit in Fangio’s defense. He doesn’t have any elite skills, but he plays hard and makes plays. Smart football player who could be good in this new system. Nice call!
For some reason and I could be wrong, but I think Piggy would love it if we drafted a LB named Orji. LOL I know nothing about him and will have to check him out.
When it comes to Fangio’s system I’m not sure it’s so much about fits but simply good football players. Zone is a concept where players need to learn it and grasp it. Man on man is mentally easier because you know who you’re covering and you follow him wherever he goes. Zone requires knowing your reads based on what the offense does. It’s more of a heady game.
The world is not as wonderful today as it was yesterday.
Agreed. Good to see you Stanger, haven’t seen you here much.
I’ve been lazy. Will try to pop on more often.
LOL
The Derek Carr rumors to us makes no sense on so many levels. First off he’s not an elite QB, he’s a quality pro like Kirk Cousins but not special. He won’t be cheap and Tua is still on a rookie contract with the 5th year option looming this offseason. But even that is not a crazy amount of money for a quality QB.
We’re not acquiring Derek Carr!!!!!! LOL
Correct
I always think back to Phil Simms (Giants), his first like five years were full of injuries and hope but Parcell’s held out hope for him and it payed off. It surprises me that Parcells recently dissed Tua when he stayed with Simms so long.
Not just injuries with Simms but costly turnovers at bad times. That’s not really Tua other than that GB game.
Tua is all in and the team already said he’s our starter heading into the 2023 season. He already said the team did a great job protecting me from myself. He has to learn how to play safer. He’ll be just 25 years old next season. Anyone here have it all figured out by 25?
None of us know the future.
I think Tua needed to be protected from himself….from the earliest “injury,” all season…
I believe it affected him all season…he never healed…now he can
What do you think was the earliest injury?
Larry Seiple turned 78 yesterday. Happy Birthday. Besides being a punter he was the original do it all player that we saw Crash Jensen become. In 1969 Seiple led the team in receiving with 577 yards and 5 touchdowns.
His son Todd was a walk on WR at Miami and was a member of the 1991 National Championship.
Long live CRASH!!!!!!!!!!
Loved Crash…lol
He stumbled at Buffalo…and came back…
Won the game out of his mind…
What about 5 straight wins after that?
Temporary recovery…then went West coast. traveling time zones…he was in another world…if it wasn’t a wtf moment for you, I can’t explain it…
He was slammed and flung to the ground…in two separate incidents…peaches…lol
In less than a week? Ok?
Okay you have your own prognosis. I like peaches by the way. LOL
Lol…it’s not a prognosis at this time…only a plausible explanation…imo.
If you don’t think cross country travel can fuck with you….ok
None of us know the future.
I’m not predicting the future…lol
I’ll take Tua on a 5th year option over every other FA QB option. 🙂
My point was…lol!
The team was protecting Tua, he agreed, and so did I..lmao…
Look over there! Lol
Okay cool.
We hired one of the most experienced and revered DC’s in the game in Vic Fangio. Well done Mike McDaniel for luring him in and Stephen Ross for paying him. It’s a big time hire. 🙂

—————
It’s called “Match-Zone”, where players play both zone and man during the same play. I gave ya the link yesterday, man.
I’m talking about an individual DB initially playing zone, then matching up on a receiver in man-to-man, all in ONE play. And not just one DB doing this during the same play.
Don’t mistake this as half of our DBs playing zone and the other half playing man-to-man.
Wasn’t saying that. I don’t think the schemes are complicated when they’re taught how to play each scheme from the get go. The last few years we were mostly man but played some zone too. We had to play so many different DBs this past season that you can’t just flip the switch and say do this instead. Many of them didn’t have a lot of experience doing it.
X is a good tackler and a ball hawk. More zone might help him later in his career. Sit back some more rather than run man-on-man so much. A lot of X’s picks have been in zone over the years. We played 65/35 man-zone since 2019. X has a knack for the ball. Oops!!! Didn’t know he’d be there. LOL
I agree
I’d expect X to get ints like Minkah gets playing zone, paired with Snowman it would make for lots of TOs, even Byron got some ints playing zone
With the DBs looking forward it should also stop some of these running QB yards, that killed us last year
Can also be frustrating to watch receivers sitting down wide open, though we saw plenty of that last year
I expect a more physical D, it will still bend some, and less likely to give up the long 3rd down
In seasons when Carr had great protection, he was PB material, in seasons where the protection was average he struggled
He is a gunslinger though, and comparable at times with Herbert type of play, and why he got paid
His inconsistencies would drive all of us crazy
Well, in seasons where Tua got great protection, he led the NFL in passer rating and other QB categories. Wait, Tua NEVER got great protection . . .
Even Allen struggled at times last year with accuracy issues
Tua will be fine, as long as the team around him does their part, and plays the equivalent to game manager, meaning they don’t have to be great, just do their job
Hurts was great this year, because of the team around him, in the end his arm talent failed him, when the team needed him to step up
That’s interesting
This is pretty consistent with how they’ve called D holding the last 10 years, because it’s the end of an SB shouldn’t change that
In other words tugging on the jersey doesn’t fit into grey areas, like O holding
Chad Henne was a Bill Parcels prototype QB
He had the size and was a 4 year starter at Michigan
And he played the game like a Neanderthal instead with any hint of cerebral activity
So, um, maybe a team of exceptions that don’t necessarily stack up to your measurables is such a good thing
He’s got 2 SB rings!
Most Valuable Clip Board Holder
I don’t think any team plays only man or only zone coverage. They all mix it up at times. The problem I had with zone coverages we used in the past was they were easy to beat. Just overload a zone, make the defender make a decision and go the other way. Brady killed us in the short / medium middle all the time with a back or TE crossing the face of a LB at the same time as a WR crossed the zone. If the LB bit to the left Tom threw to the open guy on the right and visa versa. He killed us constantly with the same route and there was no answer from out DC’s.

The numbers do lie, such that you can make them look like what you want
Tua was great early, struggled late in season
Is he the QB now that started last year hot or the one that failed to adjust at the end?
Numbers don’t lie, the interpreters do. If you compare his early season numbers to his late season numbers in a vacuum, without weighting for factors that impact his performance (health – his and the O-Line’s, etc.), then you are creating the lie. The numbers are simply what they are.
I always question PFF ranking system
But I think their top 6 is spot on
I promise you though a lot of people are going to have a lot to say about Herbert at 6 and Tua at 4
He looks ready to go
^
The super bowl teams have been rater busy the last 2 days.
Chiefs have signed 12 players to futures deals and Eagles signed 9 players.
I am sure we use at least one pick on OL. I hope it is a promising OT for depth, but I am reading that this OG class is really deep.
Especially in the middle rounds
I think Tua is a top tier QB, but he is a system QB and a system QB cannot be an elite QB, even thogh he may put up elite numbers while in his system.
I agree
What do you mean by system QB?
An elite QB can thrive in any system, while a system QB only thrives in the system designed for him. Mahommes and Burrow, maybe Allen, be just as good in, say, Miami’s offense whereas Tua would not be as good in Cincy’s or KC’s. And I like Tua and think he is as good as any of those as long as he plays in the system designed for him in Miami.
Oh okay. Mahomes is a different beast. Not even sure what system it is that they run in KC because Mahomes does so much improvising.
Burrow is basically a pocket passer who has some running ability to escape pressure at times. But I think Tua could run Cincy’s offense.
Allen is unique because of his size, arm and his running ability, and much like Mahomes does a lot of improvising. But I don’t think Allen could run a timing/accuracy offense like Tua does in Miami because he’s not a timing and accuracy guy.
But overall I get what you’re saying. Tua is more like Montana where accuracy, bootlegs and play-action are prominent.
This is why I will always put Zach above JT. It took me a few years to get over seeing JT in Jest puke green. Zach is the man.
“He offered me,” Thomas said when looking back at when Bill Belichick offered him a spot on the Patriots roster. “And I said, ‘Let me think about it,’ and I slept on it and woke up that next morning and said, ‘Hell nah man. I can’t let down the fans.’ They got my back.”
This is a Miami mock from a writer at PFN. Seems, at least, he done some homework on our needs (CB, OL, RB). I would not mind this draft at all. I don’t think Witherspoon lasts until #51. I would love it though.
Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois | Round 2, Pick 51 – Devon Witherspoon would be a dream pick just outside the top 50. He’s a twitchy, explosive athlete with a rare mix of competitive toughness, mental acuity, physicality, and alignment versatility.
Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia | Round 3, Pick 77 – Kenny McIntosh could be a phenomenal fit in the Dolphins’ scheme. At 6’1″, 210 pounds, he’s an explosive runner with a long-striding element in space, but surprising lateral agility and instincts in close quarters. He’s also an elite receiving threat, who can split out wide, run routes, and make plays at the catch point.
Wanya Morris, OT, Oklahoma | Round 3, Pick 84 – Wanya Morris brings ideal upside in Round 3. He’s still a little underdeveloped technically, but he made strides in 2022. With some time to keep growing, he has the elite explosiveness-length-power combination to be a dominating starter in both phases.
Arquon Bush, CB, Cincinnati | Round 6, Pick 164 – Arquon Bush is another high-value acquisition in a strong CB group. Bush, like Witherspoon, can play both on the boundary and in the slot. He’s another physical, high-energy athlete, who improved his technique in 2022.
Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, OL, Oregon | Round 7, Pick 216 – Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu provides the elements of depth and developmental ability that the Dolphins might want. He has an abundance of experience at right tackle, but he’s also played guard and projects well inside. At 6’6″, 330 pounds, he has impressive power and leverage acquisition — traits that translate.

2023 NFL Draft: Early- and late-round fits for all 32 NFL teams
MIAMI DOLPHINS
Early Pick: CB Emmanuel Forbes, Mississippi State
Late Pick: RB Devon Achane, Texas A&M
Byron Jones hasn’t panned out the way the Dolphins had hoped, so it might be time to invest in an outside cornerback opposite Xavien Howard. As for Achane — come on, you knew it was coming. A back who has Olympic track speed fits the mold of what Miami wants to do every Sunday (leave defenders in the dust).
M13, didn’t you mention RB Achane a while back? I know someone did. I think.
The injury that cost Byron Jones the entire 2023 season sucked, but he was good for us the two seasons prior. Along with Howard that’s what helped us run the blitz schemes with man coverage.
I think the biggest disappointment with Byron Jones was not on the field. It was we were told he “may” be ready for TC/preseason. Then we were told he “should” be ready for the regular season. Then we were told this and that and it just intensified the frustration. Especially after injuries to the secondary.
Agreed.
RB Sean Tucker, 5’10 205, Syracuse would be another good RB option. I did not realize he was so fast. In front of college scouts he ran a sub 4.3.
I don’t know why the video wants to start at the 6 minute mark so you have to move it back.
Looks pretty good.
This is what I was saying during the season. The injuries specifically in the secondary affected both the defense and STs.

I said this week 8!!
You were probably the one discussing it along with me and I’m sure some others. Guys can only play so many snaps week to week.
A lot of people got really down on Danny Crossman but I believe the KR we allowed for a TD in the Baltimore game was the first KR allowed in his 20 year career as a STs coach. I don’t think poor results are always about a coach but sometimes circumstance with personnel. Let’s hope both defense and STs are better this year.
Trill Williams back healthy and continuing where he left off would be a big plus for us.

I was emotionally devastated this morning when I realized that it was still only Thursday. 😭😭. I need a vacation or a new line of work.
Same.
Don’t you guys get Monday off?
When you look at how many UFAs we have at a lot of positions and limited draft picks and cap space, this team has a lot of work to do this offseason.

Yessir, it was me who mentioned Devon Achane a while back. He seems like the type of RB that both Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel would like and utilize.
If we don’t re-sign Raheem Mostert (I really want to re-sign Mostert), I’d strongly suggest drafting Achane.
Would like to see both Mostert and Wilson Jr. back.
RIP Tim McCarver, 81
Cardinal
Steve Carlton’s personal catcher
Long time TV color analyst
Listened to him for many years. RIP Tim McCarver.
I really feel there is no way Fangio takes the DC job in Miami without talent to work with. We have some UFAs and players coming off of season ending injuries. But we also have a very good core to build on. I think McDaniel sees that too and wanted a top shelf upgrade. Ross opened the checkbook. Fangio brings a wealth of football knowledge to the team.
or maybe it was because we made him the highest paid position coach?
RIP, Tim McCarver. He and Ralph Kiner were the guys covering the Mets on WWOR channel 9 in my hood back in the mid-late 80s.
Many fond memories.

No, President’s day is not a real holiday.
We always got President’s Day off.
Isn’t it one of the official “Federal Monday” holidays?
The stock exchange and all the banks are closed.
If true this makes me dislike Shula even more

Miami Dolphins: EDGE Jaelan Phillips
2021 PFF Grade: 53.7
2022 PFF Grade: 88.8
Improvement: 35.1
Despite matching a 10-sack rookie season, Phillips was a dramatically better player in his second NFL campaign. While the sack numbers were the same, he almost doubled his total number of pressures, going from 39 to 77. On top of that, he registered 42 tackles resulting in a defensive stop, 26 more than in his rookie year.

I think he had the highest improvement score in the league.
(According to PFF)
If you’re able to, tune in to WQAM in a minute or so to hear Joe Rose with Mike Florio. You’ll see what a doucher Hoe Rose is and how he’ll probably side with Florio against Tua
Joe Rose is not half the man Jim Mandich was. Neither is Jimmy Cefalo.
Naples, we “get off” (meaning the corporate office is closed these days) Christmas day, Newyears day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day and Thanksgiving day.
That’s it. 6 paid days.
Our job-sites often run even on these days.
MLK Day, Presidents Day, Juneteenth, Columbus day and Veterans day are not paid days off most places I know of, except banks and Gov offices.
