So now our schedule is out, and as we can see, it won’t be an easy one. We start off the season with back to back road games, the first against the Los Angeles Chargers who were 10-7 last season and narrowly lost to the upstart Jacksonville Jaguars in their playoff game, 31-30. Then off to play our division foe the New England Patriots. We come home to face the Denver Broncos, who were a huge disappointment last season, but you have to think Russell Wilson will bounce back from an awful season with the Broncos. Then we travel to Orchard Park NY to play our nemesis Buffalo Bills. We did finally beat the Bills 21-19 early last season, but then lost the next 2 clashes, including a closely fought playoff matchup with our 3rd string QB Skylar Thompson at the helm 34-31. None of the 3 games between the Dolphins and Bills were decided by more than 3 points. I feel like we have improved our team, it’s not going to be any easier for them.
Our next home game is October 8th when we host the NY Giants. The Giants made the playoffs last year and upset the Minnesota Vikings in their house 31-24, but then got wiped playing in Philadelphia against the SB participant Philadelphia Eagles 38-7. The Giants will struggle some with the heat early in the season in Miami. We then host the Carolina Panthers, and possibly may face the #1 draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, QB Bryce Young. We then face off against the NFC’s Suberbowl representative Philadelphia Eagles on October 22nd at Lincoln Financial field. Like I said, tough schedule.
After the Eagles on the road, we come home to play our division rivals for the 2nd time of the season, the New England Patriots on Sunday October 29th. Despite the fact the Patriots looked pretty bad last season, they finished only one game behind us last season. The Patriots drafted one of the best DB’s in this year’s draft, CB Christian Gonzalez. They’ll need all the help they can get! After hosting the patriots we leave the USA to play an international game and Prime Time Matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in Frankfurt, Germany. At long last, after the arduous task of traveling out of the country to face the SB Champs, we get our much needed BYE Week in Week 10.
We come out of the BYE Week to host the Las Vegas Raiders, potentially led by former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders jettisoned Derek Carr and bring in a similarly talented QB, albeit one with a history of injured seasons. We’ll see how that works out. We then travel to New Jersey to play the NY Jets in another Prime Time Matchup, this one a FRIDAY game at MetLife Stadium. We hit the road again to then face the next to last of our NFC East foes, the Washington Commanders. The Commanders nabbed 2 DB’s in the 2023 NFL Draft, back to back, snaring M’s fave Emmanuel Forbes at #16, and then another CB, Jartaviue Martin 31 picks later. They will have a tough task covering against our offense.
We come for a Monday Night Football matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Will we face our old pal Ryan Tannehill, or will the Titans give the reins to rookie draftee Will Levis, who languished at the draft the entire first round surrounded by beautiful women. My heart breaks for the kid, really. The Jets come to visit us to play the rubber match between us just 3 weeks later from our last matchup. We then host our 3rd home game in a row, and the final NFC East opponent, the Dallas Cowboys.
The last 2 games of our 2023 schedule begin on the road again to face the Baltimore Ravens. Why do we seem to play them every season? Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore. Last season’s game was an absolute thriller though, with QB Tua Tagovailoa finishing off one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history, erasing a 21 point 4th QTR deficit to beat the Ravens 42-38. Our regular season finale will be us hosting the Buffalo Bills. As previously stated, we played the Bills very tough last season, even without our 1st or 2nd string QB.My hope is that we close the gap even more this year, and overtake the Bills. I also hope we face both the Ravens and Bills with our #1 QB, Tua Tagovailoa, completing his first 17 game season. Nothing against newly acquired backup Mike White, but I don’t want to see him in a game this season unless we pull Tua because we have a 30 point lead in the 4th QTR. We need our guy to be healthy, and of course the entire team to stay healthy, especially #72, LT Terron Armstead.
Fest deliberations are most likely underway, votes are being tabulated. This could potentially be the biggest Fest ever, I hope we get lots of people to make it this year. Our team is on the precipice of greatness, we’re close. It’s not easy to make that next step into the elite, but with McDaniel and Fangio, I feel like it’s going to happen. I felt like our defense was better than it played, and I still contend that Zero Coverage Blitz scheme wasn’t viable with the cast of characters we had in place. Fangio is not an all or nothing guy like Josh Boyer was. Fangio is more malleable, flexible in his approach, and he’s the opposite of Boyer, he adapts to who we’re playing and who he has to employ against them. Can’t wait for the season, and of course the Fest!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Thank you, Mike E.!
I keep reading about us having a tough schedule. I’m not really sure why last year’s results have much to do about this year’s “tough” schedule. Also, I prefer a having a “tough” schedule as it steels you for the playoffs.
I think our schedule lines up quite nicely as far as travel and dates between games. I don’t think it could have been much more favorable starting on the WC, going to Germany, then bye, then Thanksgiving week v opponent, then home for last 4 of 5. Nice.
Looks like the NFL is going to conspire to fuck us every year! FUCK THEM MAN!
ONE September home game? We travel again on a short week for a Thursday (Friday) game. Make sure that the weather is nice for the visiting teams all in Nov and Dec. SMH Fuck the NFL
Let’s just beat teams because we’re better, and not because they faded in the heat.
yeah, games teams a so close that most are one score games. Home field advantage is a real thing and the NFL should not go out of their way to take it from us like they seem to do every year.
We have only 1 home game for the featured or off Sunday games, which seems to suck, but playing 9 home 7 away and stealing a road game from KC makes up for it
Think I’d prefer that plus not having to play anyone off of a bye or Thursday game makes up for it
So, we’re on the road the 22nd. That means the Panthers or the Pats for the Fest game. It’s a two hour drive for me so as usual it will be up to the travelers. (I prefer the Pat’s game)
Thanks Mike.
I like flexible and malleable – it sounds like a recipe for turnovers – our ratio, put simply, wasn’t good enough last year.
According to this (below), we are just outside the top tier. I ain’t eating no damn cheese until the Fins force me. Then I’ll gorge on it, but not until then.
Now this is more indicative of strength of schedule, we play 8 games against teams in the bottom 3 tiers
Ravens and Vikings seem to have gotten shafted and Denver too high

Updated (or full) UDFA list
Seems like a great group, like we were in a rebuild
I’m going to wait until someone starts getting noticed
well it’s officially official

Rock – it was you who put me onto the IAF Twitter feed. Thanks!
And you owe me a beer for the UDFA list. Although I’m intrigued by this Apple-based beverage option as an alternative!?
I’ll be happy to purchase one of your choice! I thought I was the original pusher of the IAF twitter feed on here. I’m glad you are following. They are awesome!
Did you check the Dicken’s cider link Rock? 😉😁
Thanks Mike! I was hoping you had the “movie schedule” up. They are pretty creative, but I have no idea how to post all of them on here.
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/kyle-shanahan-claims-49ers-have-three-franchise-like-qbs-on-the-roster
In reading I thought maybe, not likely, but maybe (I’ll give it a chance), there’s something to this, then I got to Darnold and busted out laughing (good thing I don’t drink coffee)
If you have 2 or 3, you don’t have one applies here
Giants should be a no go if the Tobas can’t make it. They are fest royalty
Lol, and agree
😘 awwwwwe
Don’t get the fuss over Arch, besides his name
In the article they seemed to have taken a dig at Peyton saying he and Eli only won 3 SBs
https://clutchpoints.com/texas-football-news-steve-sarkisian-drops-arch-manning-truth-bomb-following-spring-practice
What’s in a name? He was underwhelming at the spring game by a huge margin by both QBs. He has a long way to go.
However, you seem to mischaracterize what was said about Peyton and Eli. I didn’t see the word “only” in my version. Geez, loueez….
After all, Arch is the grandson of Manning family patriarch Archie Manning, the 1969 SEC Player of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowl selection that made it to the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. His sons, Peyton and Eli Manning, were longtime starting quarterbacks that won a combined three Super Bowls.
They won 4, 2 each
Like I said, you mischaracterized what was said. Factually, the writer was inaccurate but it was a thing for many years until he won at Denver. I didn’t see any “dig”.
Bri – do you mean the “flex” schedule? Is that even out yet?
Our 2024 1st round draft pick has released a video early
at the tail end of that video there is a split second of two girls climbing into a cardboard box. I am more interested in watching the rest of THAT video. LOL
Me, too!!! I even tried….lol.
I can tell you both that he’s a magician after I googled Rick Lax, but couldn’t find a link to that video and got bored trying!
Sooo, what’s the poll results this far? I can’t tell which game is the front runner by looking at results. I was really going to try to make it this year. One game is completely out for me, the other two are doable.
I’m fixing that now…the CrowdSignal plugin leaves a lot to be desired. Can’t customize the width so either it’s too small to see the text, or too large and text gets truncated. I’ll get it sorted in a bit.
Good deal…
I was able to “hover” over the the little symbol and a pop-up menu came up and showed me the results. It looks like the game receiving the most votes populates the top position. I could hover over each result to see which game
Looks to be 5 apiece for Panthers and Patriots with 1 for the Giants
🍺
Guess it’s fixed now, view results shows 1, 5, 4 in chronological order
LOL I don’t even see the damn poll anywhere!
Doesn’t show up if using wordpress
I go right to the blog. Maybe Firefox blocks it? Nothing up there.
UK, I love Dikens Cider and their commercials are the best! Yes I checked out the link you posted.
Dolphins 2023 preseason schedule
Atl, at Houston, at Jags
https://twitter.com/ckparrot/status/1657088139834343425?s=46&t=DRDuqVZoDcTedWBqMB6-bw
The only problem with a release instead of a trade is that he can just sign with anyone – and that might be pricey
But he’s from So Fla and he might just want to be here
I hope he doesn’t end up in Buffalo – they expressed interest
All that said – if we sign him for cheap without giving up capital, that’s perfect
We are probably waiving Cedric Wilson in 6/1
I guess the Vikings don’t want Wilson
He was already pricey, now we can sign him for the going rate
Looks like it’s tied between 10/15-Panthers and 10/29 Patriots. 5-5. The Giants have 1 so don’t see that coming out the winner.
Cheats game will cost more per ticket
It’s a better game though, I’d rather see us beat the Patriots than the Panthers.
Actually I can’t make the Panthers game, my cousin that attended the 2021 fest will be in town
It doesn’t matter, if we get Cook, our OL has 2 sub par members, so entire O is doomed
I hope we get some new blood at the Fest this year. Y’all know who you are, would love to meet all of you. Also, hope to have all of you back who have already attended. Let’s make it huge!!!
Cannibals? Or is that a what
LOL! I’ll fix that typo
Piggy – You planning on attending this year’s Fest?
Me no know
Will eventually decide in the next mos or so
Ok, I was able to use some CSS trickery to force the plugin to at least play more nicely. You should be able to see the results more clearly (limited real estate on a phone view keeps it from being any better). The results are also (as some already figured out) now in the same order as the poll items – they weren’t this morning. So hopefully that’s all good enough now.
Twice — thanks for jumping on that so quick. Even if think for the reasons put out below that the Pats game should be a no go.
Looks awesome, twicethethe! At least from my desktop….lol.
You folks will not be happy with the ticket price or the seats if it is the Pats game. Always one of the most expensive tickets of the season and sought after means hard to get group tickets.
Where is the poll on the screen when you guys are seeing it? I used to be (in years past) right above the schedule. Now when I look from top to bottom it goes “recent comments” then “Recent Posts” then “Archives” the “Categories” then “Links” then the Schedule. There is no poll on the site that I can see.
Stanger just killed the Pats game. I’m ok with the Panthers, but was hoping it was going to be the Patriots. I guess we’ll get a look at Bryce Young
It just makes sense. Guessing will never do a group box if the Phins ever make the Superbowl either. Is what it is.
Well then I guess this is a lesbian fest. No poll required
You really don’t see the poll?
I see it right below the most recent comments on the right
huh! That is soooo weird! On my screen under recent comments is “recent posts” No poll. Just weird!
Rock must have been blocked from seeing the polls. 😆
If I was a conspiracy theorist I might have jumped to that conclusion and accused someone. 😂
How bout you Twice?
The Patriots game was intriguing to me. It’s my birthday weekend! 😂
I like that one too, I’ll get over it.
WTF? I just added up the amount of time I’ve been on the phone today. 3 calls. Total elapsed time 6 hours 22 minutes.
Yapping too much on the phone – You’re grounded! No phone for 2 DAYS!! lol
Wasn’t my choice. Trust me! 😂
lol
The poll is there on both my computer and phone right below ‘Recent Comments’. I suspect this is a cache issue, but who knows. WordPress sometimes has a mind of its own.
Indeed it does! I see it on my phone using Chrome, and on my PC using Firefox in the same place, right below the most recent comments. Are you going to make it this year?
Yes, I’m definitely planning/hoping to make it this year. Always a great time!
Awesome news.
Excellent Twice, glad to hear that! Now we have to find a way to get Herd, M13, Tim (who did attend 2 NE Fests) and a few others that have yet to make it to a Fest.
Mike,
You know how teams do those creative schedule drops? The Dolphins did one where they created a movie poster for each game. Let me see if I can figure out how to list one.
Ah OK, did not know that
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fv5S3yLWAAIZjqB?format=jpg&name=medium
Hey Twice, do you know why Twitter is no longer an option to login to the blog?
Nice! Didn’t need to check my pulse, I’m fired up!
Yeah, some of the schedule drops are pretty cool.
Why did UDFA QB James Blackman get a $666 signing bonus?

Chargers CB J.C. Jackson (knee) hopes to be ‘100 percent’ by start of season

Might not be a good idea to come back by game 1 vs Hill, Waddle and Berrios. That knee might not hold up.
Then again, I hope he does
Here are the movie posters:
Well I’m scheduled for a Turnaround for October, So no fest for me again.
I will be checking on the pre-season game in Houston though!
Just played a preview of the Dolphins Panthers and the Dolphins won 26 zero
Ha ha ha Jevon Holland the snowman with a pick six in the dwindling seconds to make it 33 zero
There it is! I am looking at it on my phone and the poll is right there! I look on my computer and it is not there. It must be something with my settings blocking certain sites.
Waging war on everyone!
Wyo -what’s a turnaround?
they shut down part of the plant for service and repairs.
It’s a 7 days a week 13 hour days until it comes back online.
Gotcha. Sucks man, you need to get back to a Fest
TK – it was because a certain individual bought Twitter and changed the Twitter API usage/costs which a lot of other companies using the API didn’t like. WordPress was one of them and didn’t want to pay so they dropped it.
https://mashable.com/article/wordpress-drops-twitter-jetpack-social-sharing
I had a feeling it had to do with that. Thanks!
Allow me to begin
And a great remake of it
Draftkings has us at 12-5 if I understand it.
I’d sign up for that.
Dolphins wire has us 12-5 also.
Cav,
The movie schedule was what I was referring to with Mike- thanks for posting!
No prob. Figured it was one of those. 🙂
Let go Heat

That’s the second time the Washington Redskins/Commanders snared one of my #1 BALL HAWKS! Last time it was David Amerson (under Mike Shanahan)! LOL
It’s okay Cam Smith looks like a good prospect.

Rock – So I’m using my PC (Firefox) this morning – No Poll. I’m going to see if I can see it on my phone (Google Chrome)
I can see it both on my laptop and on my Android phone.
But parts of the team names in the results are cut off on the phone.
So the totals say “PA…54%”
and “PA…36%”
for Panthers and Patriots.
Same, on cell but can see dates to distinguish “Pa.”
Desktop is perfect…
I can see the whole thing on my laptop. Currently 8 Carolina, 5 Pats and 1 Giants.
in the official Dolphins site roster,
Robbie Anderson is listed as Robbie Chosen, not Chosen Anderson.
Q1) Is this correct?
Q2) Is this like a born again Christian name?
Q3) Is this a scary Diva mental breakdown thing?
Q4) Should we care, as long he still has that great 6’3 catch radius and runs fast?
Spotrac lists him as Robbie Anderson.
Would you say he has…eh….chosen that name?
I know, right?
I couldn’t tell whether it signified that he had “chosen” the Dolphins, as in maybe he was slapping back at Carolina for his problems there.
He did call Grier and told him he really wanted to play for Miami, and Anderson sold Grier on signing himself off the street.
Sorry guys
… did not mean to disparage the excellent work Twice always does behind the scenes.
Of course I could tell which PA was which, as Krishna pointed out.
I was just testifying so as to help Twice troubleshoot.
btw
Glad to see Twice indicating he might be able to make the Fest this year.
I had the privilege of sitting right next to him for a Fest game a few years ago.
He is just as knowledgeable about football as he is about IT (as in, that’s a lot)
and just an all around great guy as a person.
It was a pleasure to cheer and groan along with his comments.
PS: I also got to spend a little time with Krishna
in an entirely different year (as in, last season)
at the party the night before the game.
He was even funnier with that dry wit and
just as cool in person as he is on the board.
Still deep, though, so that was good.
I can see the Poll on my phone. Yesterday I was able to see it on my PC, but not today.
I cleared the cache to see if that would fix it, no go. Not a big deal, looks like it’s going to be Carolina anyway.
I believe it is something to do with the settings in Firefox. You can go in and change the different levels and it would allow third party placements to be seen which is what the pole seems to be. When I use Firefox I can never see the content of the Twitter posts reposted on here but I can from my phone so I think it’s something like that. Allow third party site pass-through or some crap
I’m cool with it any way. That time of year seems to be easiest for everyone to travel as it’s not around any major holidays. Definitely gonna stay on the beach this year and not the La Quinta
Go somewhere near Margaritaville, it’s fun over there by the broadwalk
Freaking creepy shit going on in my backyard this morning. lol I have a large murder of crows standing everywhere on every tree and every piece of ground surrounding the pond in my backyard there must be thousands. I was like what the hell is that racket and I went out on the back porch and it’s crazy. Like a freaking Alfred Hitchcock movie.
I LOVE The Birds! One of my faves! 😂
You get it!! It’s almost fucking black and white out there!! 😝
Robbie Anderson has said he doesn’t want to get into the meaning of the name “Chosen”, but it has a very personal meaning. I don’t really care just play well is all that matters.
I can see the poll on my iPad.
Which browser do you use?
Safari
I see the poll, but the little lights are not twinkling.
😆
The Dolphins had a big need at tight end and this past draft class was supposedly one of the deepest in years at that particular position. but rather than use a second or third round pick there, Miami elected to take former Stanford WR Elijah Higgins in the sixth round with the intention of converting him to tight end. Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy, who invited Higgins to the annual event earlier this year, said that’s nowhere near as unconventional as it sounds.
“He’s almost like Mike Gesicki to me,” Nagy siad via Barry Jackson of the Maimi Herald.”he can be a potential mismatch player. he was one of the top height, weight, speed skill players in this year’s draft. to get him in the sixth round was one of the best values in the draft.”
“Aside from his physical tools, he’s a high character guy,” Nagy added. “to hit on guys who have development to go, the makeup has to match up. Elijah is a typical Stanford guy a really hard worker and smart.”
Brandon Liguori spoke to a source close to Miami Dolphins SS Brandon Jones a few moments ago. The source told me Jones, who sustained a season-ending torn ACL to his left knee last season on Sunday Night Football vs. Pittsburgh, is doing well in his recovery process and is “way ahead of schedule,” too.
The source told me Jones will be ready Week 1 this upcoming September, as well.
Awesome. He’s a dog…a player…a good tool to use different ways.
Agreed, Fangio will utilize his versatility. He’s good in the box, a very good blitzer and he’s solid in coverage in the medium range.
I saw a blurb that Higgins currently weighs 238 but wants to get up to 245 to play TE. He also said 28 of 32 teams wanted him to convert to TE.
He has the frame to beef up, and he’s smart enough to learn a new position. Besides the F TE runs routes very close to what he ran in college. I think he’ll turn out to be a steal.
I’m hoping he’s a steal too. Remember Shannon Sharpe was a 7th round pick and played the same F TE role.
Last year some draftees couldn’t seem to get the mental part down, don’t think we’ll have to worry about that with Higgins
The passing game is about matchups, think he’ll see a few mismatches
He mentioned he’s going to need to learn how to block, we’ll see if he ever becomes the type of blocker, that can stay on the field in the running game
Watching NFL TEs block, it seems to be a desire thing vs going thru the motions
Agreed.

They must’ve come in out of shape or had cement feet.
Yeah don’t look the part.
We did a quick search on hotels based on panthers dates. 1 week at Margaritaville + 2000.00 vs La Quinta … Saul I’m sayin
It looks to me that we’re going to employ 6 man fronts on offense with an inline TE, 3 WR and a RB. The F-TE or a FB finds its way into some formations. It starts with Mostert and Wilson in the backfield, Smythe at TE, Hill and Waddle and different options as the 3rd receiver. McDaniel is definitely looking for different mismatch combinations.
Berrios, Ezukanma, Anderson, Higgins and Conner as depth and 3rd receiver options. Achene as a speed weapon in the backfield, as a receiver and in the return game.
With our speed I see a lot of 6 blockers to allow it to happen. If opponents try to overload with a blitz and we’re already in 6 protect, maybe 7, who’s covering Hill and Waddle?
I see us getting a lot of Cover 2 and 2 high safety looks. Run the ball. When they tighten up in man, play-action down the field.
That’s what McDude is trying to build, an answer for everything with an accurate and smart QB. It stems from Bill Walsh and his philosophy.
I think you are right and that is his fix for how we were defended in the second half of the season. How we got shut down a bit in some games.
Browns Trade for Za’Darius Smith
Browns send ’24 5th-rounder, ’25 5th-rounder to Vikings for Smith, ’25 6th-rounder and ’25 7th-rounder (NFL Network)
The browns have really loaded their roster this year. I think they could be a surprise team in AFC North.
They are another team in the AFC that makes it more difficult to make the playoffs. The Jags are in the mix too. It’s going to be a war of talent and attrition.
It is going to be a war for sure.
With the 3 UDFA OL cut today, that leaves only 2 OL UDFA’s left out of the 18 UDFA’s still on the roster. I think this puts our current roster at 86 but not sure. I still expect to see a kicker signed and more OL to fill out the roster once we get our June 1 money.
Of course, there will be constant bottom of the roster churning for months to come.
It always comes down to the 53 and practice squad.
It wouldn’t be that hard to choose 43 locks for the 53. What players will surprise and make a statement?
You don’t have to stay at Margaritaville to be at Hollywood Beach/boardwalk. There are lots of good/nice places to stay at “reasonable” prices….all within easy walking distance to food, Tiki bars, water, sand, music, etc….
Agreed! I didn’t tell Rock to stay at Margaritaville, just near it. We love it there, it’s part of our vacation experience, but there are a bunch of good places on Hollywood Beach.
👍
I go there for my triple shot lattes and local sports paper reading….sometimes bloodies, sometimes food….lol…always people watching!

Miami Dolphins sixth-round pick Elijah Higgins: We’re going to have to learn how to block on the interior
The Miami Dolphins plan to convert Elijah Higgins to tight end after years of playing as the “big slot” at Stanford.
The Miami Dolphins have yet to find the perfect tight end for coach Mike McDaniel’s wide-zone scheme, but sixth-round rookie Elijah Higgins is gearing up for his shot.
He started 12 games at Stanford in his senior year and led the team with 704 receiving yards, averaging 58 yards per game. After being drafted by the Dolphins, Higgins and tight ends coach Jon Embree began watching film of one particular tight end.
“We’ve been watching a lot of (George) Kittle tape,” Higgins said, “Obviously he was there with the 49ers. Then I’m going to watch the guys here, in the system that we run, seeing how they do it and emulating that.
“I got the playbook a couple of days ago, so I’ve been digging into that. Obviously learning a few different roles I’m not quite used to. But it has been fun so far and I’m excited for this first practice.”
Higgins lined up in the slot for 497 of his 626 snaps as a senior and was inline for just 24 snaps, according to ProFootballFocus. In total, he played 45 snaps inline as a blocking tight end throughout his college career.
“In high school, I wanted to play receiver. In college, I knew that was – seeing how my body transitioned through the years, I definitely got excited for it because I think it definitely fits my skill set pretty well,” Higgins said of transitioning to tight-end full-time. “I ended up playing a big slot role [in college], so it was essentially very similar to a flexed-out F tight end minus all of the blocking assignments, “That will carry over for sure but obviously we’re going to have to learn how to block on the interior.”
Good stuff.
Now all of our OL problems are fixed
🫤
Started 40 games since being drafted in 2018
He’s had a bunch of injuries
Greir loves these types….lol
That’s a good signing right there. Wynn has starter talent, he just needs to stay healthy like so many others on our O-line. Wynn was drafted in ’18, but didn’t play the entire ’18 season, despite being drafted in the 1st RD, he tore his ACL. He can play inside or outside
I think it’s a good signing too
I want Jackson and Eichenberg to get a chance to compete to start
My only concern is Grier loves guys with a history of injury
I hope they sign some one else who can compete to start as well
I don’t think Grier loves guys with a history of injuries, it’s just a chance to see if a guy with talent can get his career back on track.
Wynn is an excellent pickup at swing tackle. He has started at both tackle positions and will likely compete to start at RT. He’ll be able to move over to LT when Armstead misses games (as we know he will). Nice signing…if he stays healthy.
Moving over to LT for Armstead, was what I took from this signing, then a chance to compete with Eichenberg and Jackson
Yep, I’m reading he wasn’t entirely comfortable with the switch to RT, but he did start there and even if he doesn’t beat out Jackson, it’s a big deal to have a guy that can back up Armstead with starter quality.
Former 1st is a different talent than the other guys we’ve brought in, and we aren’t done yet
Since we signed Wynn now and for only 1 year, the chances it was for more than 2.5m are slim
Exactly, with only 2.6 in cap space before June 1, it’s got to be less.
+ the 1m for the guys spot he takes on top 51
With the Wynn deal on the horizon Fins cut 3 UDFAs
The Jets will be just the second team in 90 years to play 10 games in their home stadium (They get to do this because they have a “road” game against the Giants along with nine home games).
We signed an OT 😃
IDK what Wynn is going to bring, but I’d be shocked, if our OL was the same as last year as a bottom
With all things considered, more weapons, more rushes and a 2nd year in the O system
2022 was a season to forget for Isaiah Wynn. After spending the majority of his career on the left side of the offensive line, the Patriots moved him to right tackle in order to make room for Trent Brown. That decision did not pay off, as Wynn responded with what was easily the worst season of his career. The Georgia product finished the season with a 54.6 PFF grade, which ranked 75th out of 83 eligible tackles. To make matters worse, injuries limited Wynn to just nine games, although he still found a way to record nine penalties when on the field.
That was just last year playing RT and injured. His grades at LT the year before were better.
Not exactly a glowing recommendation for him at RT.
Just for perspective, Isaiah Wynn was PFF’s #72 rated Tackle (out of 78 total) last season… Brandon Shell was #49.
He might be for depth especially at LT which is his preferred side.
Yeah, alright. That does make sense to me and he was relatively cheap as well.
I don’t mind the Wynn signing much, just hope Shell is still available come June 1st if Wynn doesn’t show any signs of life.
Injuries likely had something to do with his below avg play last year and the position switch
Just gives us another option at RT and doesn’t put all of our eggs in Jackson’s basket, just as Feeney does at RG for Eichenberg
Doubt we’re done on OL
I’d rather Achane was 200 lbs, his height isn’t a problem though, better 5’9, than 6′
I’m sure they’ll get him to his perfect playing weight eventually
Watching him vs LSU for at least 3rd time, he’s really good on 3rd and short, ala Marshall Faulk
He’s slippery and so quick.
Wynn has been hurt for major portions of each NFL season.
He’s a part time player at this point, if he was full time he’d still be a cheat and/or cost too much, but he’s a gamer, when healthy
Wynn was All SEC at Georgia and is from St. Pete FL so he knows hot weather.
He also knows the Patriots offense and defense.
Wow wouldn’t it be awesome if Achane ended up a blend of Marshall Faulk, Alvin Kamara, and Darrell Sproles?
He might be faster than all 3.
He’s definitely faster than Faulk and Kamara, not sure about Sproles, he was very fast. Probably close in speed. Not a lot of people run 4.32.
Used to be the Patriots would pick up our cast offs and make them pro bowlers. Maybe the worm has turned.
Her can always sign Shell too or some one else
Really all I want is competition on the OL – I still want to see our draftees of the last few years have a chance to compete
Even though guys like Jackson and Eichenberg haven’t shown much on the field yet – they seem up for the challenge. I never hear anything negative from them. I just hear the willingness to contribute
Agreed, the coaches seem to have a plan.
