The case for passing on Cook

If/when Minnesota Vikings RB gets released, the Dolphins should just sit back and read about while drinking their morning coffee, as if it’s just another news story, a story they’re not particularly interested in. Cook is a nice player, but he will be asking for money we don’t have, and frankly, I think the guy we drafted in RD 3, De’Von Achane can provide the playmaking ability Cook would bring. It’s not that Cook isn’t a very good player, he is, but RB isn’t our problem. Mostert, Wilson and Acahane can give you the production that Cook can give you. We’d have to overpay to get Cook, some team who really needs him will do that. It happens every year. I feel that Cook is more duplication, although at a higher level, but Cook is also 28, so you overpay for a 28 year old running back? No thanks!

Raheem Mostert actually averaged more yards per carry (4.9 – 4.4) than Dalvin Cook last season. Over their careers, the disparity is greater in favor of Mostert. Cook is not a grinder, a guy that wears down opposing defenses, he’s a similar type runner to what we have. I know we’re close, but we need cap room to sign our own players like DE’s Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler. Cook is a luxury we cannot afford. We need to also get more from our draft picks. We barely used our first pick last season, LB Channing Tindall. We spent a 3rd RD pick, once again our 1st pick in the draft, on RB De’Von Achane, and RB is the easiest position to transition to the NFL from college football. This kid is going to be electric, and he will keep both Mostert and Wilson fresh. RB by committee is the NFL way now, so few teams rely on one stud back, and the ones that do usually end up losing them for a spell and then need to change their offensive scheme to be competitive.

Our offense is all about our playmakers on the outside, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and then contributions with whomever makes the roster cuts, Berrios, Wilson, Anderson and Ezukanma. We added a lot of blocking at the TE position, gone is the finesse TE Mike Gesicki, and TE’s Durham Smythe, Eric Saubert, and Naples fave Tyler Kroft are here to block. Not a one of them is a dangerous receiving threat, and Head Coach Mike McDaniel vowed to run the ball more, and we will, but between Mostert, Wilson and A-Chain, you won’t miss Dalvin Cook. Who knows, maybe either Tanner Conner of 6th RD draft pick Elijah Higgins will be the receiving terror similar to what George Kittle provided for McDaniel’s offense with the SF 49ers.

So would they have ordered the ladies off the boat if they’d been hot white girls? Or would they have offered them some personalized fishing tips? And margaritas?

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

      Hmmmm…..good question…anything for a tip? Lol

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Naples, they may very well have been hot white girls. They are super rich athletes after all. My belief is YES they would have been told to stop trespassing. You never board anyone’s boat without permission.

They only people who needed to apologize were the bimbos who broke the law by boarding another mans boat without permission and the entitled thugs who excused THEMSELVES for it.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I wonder how many football stars know anything about boat etiquette? All of them?

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Ignorance is not an excuse for bad behavior. Wrong is wrong and they were wrong. It is not like it is some convoluted obscure etiquette. Does this belong to you? No then don’t touch it.

I walk into you home because I find the door unlocked. I go and turn on your TV and sit on your couch. Would you accept the excuse that “I didn’t know this was your house” I’ll answer for you. No you would reply well it’s not your house so it doesn’t matter if you knew it was mine or not.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Rock…settle down…a boat is not a home for most…I probably wouldn’t have done it, however.

People were having fun and probably had no clue of boat ettiquite…I didn’t and don’t…not my world.

If you’re in my yard for no reason, I will ask you what the fuck are you doing.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Knowing the boat captains that I know, yes they would have thrown them off the boat. And not knowing boat etiquette is no excuse. Would you climb in a someone else’s car or just walk into their house? A charter fishing boat could cost well over a million dollars and have tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear on it. Not to mention the liability and impact on one’s captain’s license if said bimbo hurt herself on while trespassing on the boat.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Some people are stupid and some are entitled….

There’s a way to address this civilly without being a redneck or an asshole.

Get the fuck off my boat is in your right…

  2. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I’m not stirred up Krishna so need for me to settle down. (Say that to a woman sometime and see what happens! LOL)

My point is that the “ladies” were wrong and when they were told they were wrong they should have immediately apologized and moved along. The whole thing escalated because the offenders (Hills group) caught attitude and felt entitled. They are not and they should be strongly reminded that they are not. I am sick of people thinking they are above society. (I can park in this handicap spot because I don’t feel like following the rules, I don’t have to stop at this stop sign, I can drive the wrong way up a one way street because I only need to go one block and it is inconvenient for me to go around, it’s ok for me to park my car in the fire lane and go into the supermarket “for a minute”

NO MOTHERFUCKERS IT IS NOT OK. JOIN SOCIETY OR GET THE FUCK OUT.

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I pretty much agree with you, but I guess you were there and know the whole story as you presented it. Ok, then.

What if it didn’t happen quite that way? If it were me, I would have apologized for being stupid and gotten off…but if you were an asshole asking me to get off, I would have still gotten off, but had words with you. Just saying.

      1st world problems…lmao

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I’ve never had a boat and don’t know the first thing about boat etiquette, especially thinking it’s my couch…lol

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Lol…and I have asked women to settle down and every situation is different…oh my

  3. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Well I must retract my assumption that these women were A) black and B) naive to who owned that boat and / or proper boat etiquette.

I do not know much about boats, but getting into someone else’s car or home is WAYYY different unless you are trying to drive the boat or trash it or throw a party on it while the owner is away.

I totally agree that many people are acting like entitled assholes when they do the things Rock lists. Many times they are pro athletes, but rock stars and movie stars, models and “influencers” (WTF anyway), and politicians and “multi-millionaires”
are also guilty of this “I can buy you” attitude.

And some “regular people” do this type of rude behavior to exert a little selfish power play when they can. The sales clerks in Saks 5th Ave. come to mind. They just work there; they can’t afford to shop there, but I can, but because I’m old or whatever, they sniff and roll eyes and cop a superior attitude.

I do want to know what was said to those women and how the thing escalated so fast.

PS: I said when we first signed Tyreek that he is wound up real tight, and I hoped that he would not spin out of control if we did not have a good season or get him adequately involved in the offense.

I once met a friend as he docked after a fishing trip

He chartered a boat for the trip and I didn’t go bc of a scheduling thing but met up after

And my friend came off the boat to speak with me, we were chatting and walking and then he walked back on the boat to speak to the captain (pay him) and I walked with him without any idea that I was violating any rule

And the captain basically looked at me with daggers
And I knew right away I wasn’t welcomed

    But he didn’t say anything

And my friend and I walked off the boat together

    Managed not to punch anyone….lol

    I farted before I left though….

Boarding another person’s vessel without express permission is technically piracy according to international law. It is a serious crime and holds the death penalty in some countries.

Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill “boat slap” now an NFL investigation, could suspension be forthcoming?
By Brian Miller | 12:23 PM EDT

Call it a witchunt or call it due diligence, you can call it anything you want but Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill is looking at potential league discipline after slapping a marina worker earlier this month.

The NFL according to reports, has asked to interview the police officers that were involved in the investigation and are requesting the video of the events that reportedly caught the incident.

Two days after the incident, the police investigation was dropped but the victim then decided to press charges. That has brought the NFL into the picture and there is not speculation that Hill could eventually face a suspension but it is more likely that he is fined for his actions.

In addition to the investigation, it has also been reported that Hill offered the man $200.00 after the slap. That report also included text that the victim ran to his office, locked the door, and hid out of fear.

Many fans are calling this nothing more than a money grab but Hill has a past that includes reported domestic violence.

What happens now is anyone’s guess but the NFL does not need to have a legal base to levy a fine or suspension as they act nearly autonomously in these types of cases but the fact that for now there is no felony charges, the league would likely take a fine over a suspension but then again, it is the NFL and there is nearly no consistency when it comes to disciplining players.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Is the marine worker suffering from physical and mental injuries? He only pressed charges after he found out that it was Tyreek Hill.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

He’s afraid and only pressed charges after someone got in his ear.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

        What’s he afraid of?

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Good question? The reports say, he said he was afraid, ran into his office, and locked himself in. I guess the video surveillance will show us that?

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So after he was offered $200 and refused it he became afraid and locked himself in his office? LOL

  7. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I have NO FUCKING CLUE about maritime law….guess that means I should never go near a marina or on a boat for fear of death….omfg…lol.

Perhaps, “visitors” on any marina SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED UNACCOMPANIED without a proper marina chaperon to ensure the safety of boaters and their boats or from being so afraid you lock yourself in a room.

I wonder if signs were posted everywhere or anywhere on proper MARINA etiquette so that you can be duly warned or are you just supposed to know (ignorance is no excuse).

  8. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I have been on boats and marinas. I grew up in Florida.

I have never known or heard of any law that I would be committing piracy or might die if I got on someone’s boat without asking. I guess marina personnel don’t need to tell you the rules, your just supposed to know them. No fucking excuse….lol.

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Hill and his party were wrong getting on someone else’s boat….just to be clear. His agent was supposedly with him. ALL of them were wrong.

How did this escalate from being wrong and stupid? This seems way over the top and now we are talking about piracy and the death penalty. Geez, loueez.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

sigh…. I was pretty sure you didn’t think I was being serious about the piracy and death penalty in THIS CASE

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

No, I thought you were exaggerating the offense.

They were fucking stupid, wrong, and entitled….and it went from there…

…two wrongs don’t make a right… and maybe both were wrong….is my only point in this discussion.

  9. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just in case the NFL comes down on Tyreek, we may need to keep Cedric Wilson around.

I for one am glad that dude went inside he saved 10 from himself it seems like.
Hopefully it’s just a fine and large opening in Hill’s head for Coach to occupy. He’ll settle him down.

  11. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

It’s always non football fans that get players in trouble lol. If I’m hanging out with Hill bullshiting having a good time I’d smack him on the back of the neck just to test my own speed. I bet I’d get 15 steps (read 2.5)(at best) so fifteen steps before he gets me. There wouldn’t be any kind of legal entanglement involved. Just a fun memory.

  12. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

“Holy shit Tyreek fucking Hill is on my boat. Holy Shit “as he reaches for his phone.

  14. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Here’s what I’ve got today. The Houston Texans have roughly $17M in cap space, with rookie QB CJ Stroud starting. The best WR they have on their roster? Robert Woods… meh.

They could use some WR help, no? Perhaps we could trade Ced Wilson to the Texans, where Chris Grier’s father still works?

  15. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I’ve never been a big fan of Affirmative Action. I think it’s served its purpose.

  16. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Houston would be a good landing spot for Ced. He’d play a lot there.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      Absolutely.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

What does the Grier connection with his father have to do with a trade for Wilson? Everyone knows who he is, his contract and 2022 performance.

If you were a GM why would you trade for him? Trent Sherfield and River Cracraft beat Wilson out for playing time.

I think there is a better chance we release him because he didn’t make the final 53 than trading him. Yes eating the dead cap and moving on.

Here’s what I say about affirmative action

My son scored a 175 on his LSAT, high enough to almost be guaranteed into Harvard, yet he didn’t get into UF

I got weasseled out of a state job by affirmative action in ’92, would’ve been retired 6 years ago

My stepfather only got his state job, because they really wanted him, so he had to be hired as a temp employee first, losing out on years of benefits

    So when I hear it’s been over-turned, I think it’s great

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s kind of hard to say equal opportunity for all and then play with it. Yes minorities and people of color were discriminated against for many years. But if you think 2023 still represents that you’re not paying attention.

Big government started this with “The Great Society” in 1965 by a racist president and narcissist leadership. Those policies broadened ghettos and poverty. Not to mention the kickbacks from organized crime.

It’s not about conservatives versus liberals or black versus white. It’s about narcissists versus narcissists. The ideology doesn’t matter. Power does. All dictatorships are the same.
