Two games left and hard to not look at how the possible scenarios are unfolding. Here are two that were set by beating the Boys.
“The Dolphins’ victory eliminated the possibility of the them ending as the seventh seed because they’re already assured of having one of the best six records in the conference.”
“Of course, the Dolphins also can’t be the No. 4 seed because they’ve already clinched a better record than any team from the AFC South, where Jacksonville, Houston and Indianapolis are tied for first at 8-7.”
I hope the Ravens get beaten by 11 tonight. That would put us ahead of them in Net Points too, even though we own the better division record which is the first tie breaker.

…How bad is Josh McDaniels?
————
Josh McDaniels is SO bad, I doubt he will ever get another shot as an NFL HC. He’s absolutely terrible.
For the second week in a row (I’m NOT wishing for it), I’m predicting that Lamar Jackson gets injured… against that ferocious 49ers Defense. Lamar is overdue to get injured, and he got PUMMELED last week.
“This whole narrative changes off of unfortunately one play out there. The guy misses the field goal and we’re here talking about a completely different outlook. So let’s not lose sight of that.”
— Dak Prescott apparently grasping at straws and not getting was pretty clear those Phins in Victory Formation could have scored a TD.
Ravens currently have a 7-3 conference record, same as the Dolphins. The Niners are out of conference, so a loss tonight doesn’t change the conference record.
If the Ravens lose tonight, they stay the #1 seed due to a better SOV than the Dolphins.

Dolphins did have the #1 seed in ’84
———-
Confirmed.
The last time we had the #2 seed was in ’92.
The last time we had the #3 seed was in ’08.
The last time we had the #4 seed was in ’01.
Put more simply- if the Ravens lose tonight, there is a possibility we’ll be able to rest anyone we want to in week 18. If the Ravens win tonight, we will be required to play to win against the Bills.
We’ll get a direct comparison next week too. How will Tua and the Fins fare against this defense after the game Purdy and the Niners are playing right now- at home too.
I can’t deny this sentiment by Lorenzo Reyes, USA Today…
“But, against Dallas, Miami converted just 1 of 4 trips inside the red zone.
Going back the previous two games, Miami’s red zone efficiency improves only slightly, combining to go 5 for 15 over its last three. Goal-to-go scenarios are most concerning, where the Dolphins have simply stalled. Against the Cowboys, Miami went 1 for 3, and this comes two weeks after it went 1 for 4 in a loss to the Tennessee Titans. Coach Mike McDaniel has often called plays that move laterally, the pace and urgency slows, and Miami, at times, seems to overthink its operation. That has happened on third-and-shorts as well, and the Dolphins finally self-corrected late in the game with a quick screen that got Tyreek Hill open space and a power push rush up the middle with Jeff Wilson. It was a huge victory. The Dolphins clinched their second consecutive postseason berth. But their ineffectual short-yardage execution is exactly the type of problem that gets good teams eliminated early.”
Agreed. I think Hunt is more important though. I feel like the DBs are holding it down for the most part. We need Hunt to get the running game going again.
Krishna, that was an interesting post at 6:32 and I agree. We do suck in the short yardage area recently and mainly due to the play calling. I think playing with backups on the interior OL has affected what MM calls in those situations.
QB Trevor Lawrence suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder and it is too soon to know if he’ll be able to play Sunday against the Panthers, per head coach Doug Pederson.
Lamar needs to be kept in the pocket at all costs. They’ve designed their offense so that when he scrambles it’s like a broken play and his teammates have practiced to just find an open spot. If Lamar can buy an extra 2-3 seconds by scrambling out of the pocket it’s almost impossible for your defenders to cover. Somebody’s gonna get open. Keep him in the pocket. I don’t really care if you sack him. Just don’t let him buy time. He’s a different passer inside the pocket.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hate the Ravens more than any other team inside of our division. Losing to them drives me nuts. I want a double digit victory.
I think on the DL, ours are better than the 49er’s. Their interior DT’s looked fat and slow. They never rushed, they just stayed put at the LOS playing slapass with whoever was blocking them. Like they were the spies waiting there to stop Jackson once the edge rushers closed in and he started to run. They had absolutely no push up the middle.
Wilkins and Seiler are much different, play quicker and non-stop. Their OL will be watching our stunting on tape. I think the Ravens will still have trouble with our rush. We just need to make sure we have a spy to get Lamar. Like I said earlier, watching Ryder’s video, we just barely got Dak a couple times when he had a gaping hole to scramble through. I’m not so sure we will be able to stop Jackson from escaping through holes like that, like we did Dak.
I’d say the point spread gets bigger as the week goes on. I think all the experts are going to pick the Ravens, we’re not going to get a lot of respect which is fine by me. Let everyone expect the Ravens to win, and then we just steal the game and we take the W.

BOOM! What did I say?!!
Purdy is still #1 in QB rating, but Tua has closed the gap.
The MVP race is simple. If Tua leads our team in a win against Jackson and the Ravens in Baltimore, then finishes off the season with a win against the Bills, then there is your MVP.
Championship game will between Stanger and Mike E … good luck and congrats to ya both .. and thank you to all others for participating this year .. it was a tough year with all the star injuries , especially at the QB position
Hope to do it all again with a better result next year 👍😎
It’s possible that SF was playing their interior DL to stay along the LOS and not want them to push because that would encourage Lamar to scramble. Hard to know how they were playing it.
Nice write, Mike! 😂
What a gift it was.🙂
Dug deep into all the stats and wrote my best 🙃
😂
Merry Xmas everyone! Go Dolphins!
“Fins for the win”
Said in my best Waddle voice
“the Dolphins have now totaled 52 sacks this season with two games remaining. It’s the most sacks a Dolphins defense has recorded in team history.”
NFL best 2023, until the Ravens play. They have 50.
nice Christmas present this year

OH HO HO HO
Meh to me it looked like it bounced off the ground F YOU dickhead
I’m not sure there is enough to overturn it. It looks like the ball hit the ground, but his arm was underneath it too.
It looked like a catch to me.
Oh, that last view shows it
Fucking suck as tackling
Eff you 39
Raiders will blow this since their offense can’t do anything
Come on Raiders! One long drive could end this game!
that fumble recovery by Brandon Jones on first and goal from the 1 was freaking awesome!
Go Raiders!!!
Raiders offense needs one 1st down to win this game
do not slow play this. Go for a score
Woohooo!!!
woooooowhooooohoooooohooooooooo
That was awesome
Dolphins clinch the #1 seed next week:
Chiefs lose to Raiders ✅
Ravens lose to Niners
Browns lose to Jest
Dolphins beat Ravens
The Raiders beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead in a game where the Raiders QB didn’t complete a pass after the 1st quarter…
Look at the empty stands!!
Wow nice weekend of football so far
except LAC losing to Buff
Let’s go Giants (doesn’t matter but stick it to the Cowbows that much more
I think Pierce just secured the HC position in LV
I was just saying they need to give him the job.
They have looked like a completely different team. How bad is Josh McDaniels?
I hope the Ravens get beaten by 11 tonight. That would put us ahead of them in Net Points too, even though we own the better division record which is the first tie breaker.

Aside from the PI call at the goal line, Elliot balled out yesterday.
Yeah he did….
Waddle has a high ankle sprain. That’s a few games worse than the normal kind.
That sucks
The last drive to kick the game winner was a big step for this team. We didn’t panic, ran when we had to and the clock management was perfect.🙂
Cav, is next week for the one seed no matter what happens tonight?
No, if the Ravens win, then even if we beat them, we may still need to beat the Bills because the Ravens could still end up with fewer losses than us.
Ok that’s what I thought
You said it best last night, we win four in row and we’re in the Super Bowl, simple and easy to understand
In those terms it’s so tantalizing!
I was trying to remember the last time we were the #1 seed in the AFC. Was it ’84?
Probably
That’s a Tim question lol
Dolphins did have the #1 seed in ’84
That sucks about Waddle. Maybe Claypool can step up- this is why we traded for him, no?
Wilson has been reliable when called on.
Wilson has been involved a lot more this year but last night every time Tua threw to him he threw a shitty pass.
Tua was off on a few throws but Tyreek had a big miss on a long TD because I think he wasn’t 100%. That’s the NFL.
Let me get this straight, if the Ravens lose we’re the #1 seed?
No. They stay ahead of us till we beat them next week.
Why? The Titans loss, we have the same conference record.
Yes we take the one seed because of tie breakers
Big play to Kittle
I’m praying for a Doug and Darlene Superbowl with Doug winning. And shit there’s a pick 😳
That would be a superbowl party we could sell tickets to 😎
Does the ref get a sack?
Ravens currently have a 7-3 conference record, same as the Dolphins. The Niners are out of conference, so a loss tonight doesn’t change the conference record.
If the Ravens lose tonight, they stay the #1 seed due to a better SOV than the Dolphins.
So let’s beat them Sunday.🙂
Yep, and that may be to lock up the #1.
It’s so much fun to be in the playoffs already with two games to go and the division and the #1 seed still possible.🙂
It’s been nearly 40 years since we were the #1 seed. Pretty crazy it might happen in McDaniel’s 2nd year.
It’s means nothing, we can’t get the #1 seed without winning next week
It can mean the difference between having to beat Buffalo to get the #1 or resting our injured players week 18. You don’t think that matters?
Purdy playing like a 7th round draft pick
I said the same thing to my wife just before the half 🤔
What a horseshit call that chop block was, McM never touched him
McC
Purdy probably just threw away his shot at an mvp with this game
Tim,
Yes, Wilson has stepped up, but with him likely moving into Waddle’s spot, Claypool needs to fill his role. We need him for depth

If the Ravens lose tonight, we can lock up the #1 seed next week if the Browns lose to the Jest. (Not likely, but possible)
If the Ravens lose tonight, we would also still get the #1 seed losing to Buffalo if the Browns lose to the Bengals in week 18.
If the Ravens win tonight, then we EITHER have to beat Buffalo week 18 or the Ravens need to lose to the Steelers in week 18.
This game absolutely matters. The Ravens losing this game gives us more paths to the #1, including the ONLY path to securing the #1 next week.
Put more simply- if the Ravens lose tonight, there is a possibility we’ll be able to rest anyone we want to in week 18. If the Ravens win tonight, we will be required to play to win against the Bills.
Are the Ravens really this good?
I don’t believe it.
They certainly don’t suck, but I think they — for whatever reason — have a favorable matchup this evening.
And Purdy has 32 INTs this game.
I don’t think so but who knows. I see some fluky plays that bounced their way
No – but they are playing very well right now
Maybe they just match up well c the 49ers 🤷♂️
Purdy blowing chunks
Ravens have them on the ropes now
4th INT for Purdy! Tua is going to end up being the #1 QB in the NFL… which puts Tua in the MVP conversation.
We’ll get a direct comparison next week too. How will Tua and the Fins fare against this defense after the game Purdy and the Niners are playing right now- at home too.
Beat the next opponent is every team’s goal. There is no juggernaut that can’t be beat.
^
Ravens are just outplaying the Niners in all facets. And kicking them up and down the field physically.
I think I have watched enough of this 💩 that I can. I am out. Peace
Purdy bad, that last showed up in the NFC Championship game, looks like he doesn’t belong in the league
When things are going good as a team he looks great, but don’t ask him to win a game for you
Here’s to hoping Ravens blew their wad tonight
When you get replaced by Sam Darnold, you have definitely earned the title of “Mr. Irrelevant”
I got to wake up at 5am on New Year’s Day to watch the dolphins v ravens
Weeeeeeeeee
Or just stay up from your NYE celebration 🍾🥂🎉💥

We definitely have our work cut out for us over the next two weeks…
Hoping we have a healthy Robert Hunt and Jevon Holland for both of those games
Agreed. I think Hunt is more important though. I feel like the DBs are holding it down for the most part. We need Hunt to get the running game going again.
I would have loved to have Hunt for this game.
Yeah, but it worked out. We need Hunt as close to 100% as possible. Good that we’re were able to get the win and get him some rest.
Agree.
Krishna, that was an interesting post at 6:32 and I agree. We do suck in the short yardage area recently and mainly due to the play calling. I think playing with backups on the interior OL has affected what MM calls in those situations.
Our updated outlook is pretty straight forward:
Beat the Ravens and Bills – #1 seed locked
Beat the Ravens and lose to the Bills – #1 or #2 seed locked (likely #2)
Lose to the Ravens and beat the Bills – #2 seed locked
Lose to both the Ravens and Bills – very likely the #6 seed and play the Chiefs in KC
Win our next 4 games – Super Bowl LOCKED
So we win 1 of the next 2 games, we win the division.
We win out, we win the division and AFC.
Beer to you Cav. lol
Looks like nobody is gong to rest players
Sure is
We need a mostly healthy OL, not 4 starters out, to reach our goals, so anything these USA Todayers write means nothing
Armstead, Jones, Eichenberg, Hunt and Jackson starting changes everything
Also helps to have Waddle and Mostert
Add Holland to that and we should be able to at least go down to the wire with anyone
Although what we saw from Lamar last night, should scare every other team
There were some big holes on our pass rush that a quicker QB like Lamar Jackson will exploit. We need to have a spy.
There’s this I guess?
Is it Sunday yet?
The roughing the passer on Micah was the first one Tua this year
Seems like BS he hasn’t drawn any others, sure he gets rid of it quick, but…

Wouldn’t it be funny if we beat the ravens and bills and then in the postseason meet each one again
I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
I don’t think it is, I don’t like playing the same teams over and over again
Usually that’s a edge to the defense
On the other hand, both teams are a little less innovative on offense than we are and they have struggled at times to score points
The jags look on track to miss the postseason
Lamar needs to be kept in the pocket at all costs. They’ve designed their offense so that when he scrambles it’s like a broken play and his teammates have practiced to just find an open spot. If Lamar can buy an extra 2-3 seconds by scrambling out of the pocket it’s almost impossible for your defenders to cover. Somebody’s gonna get open. Keep him in the pocket. I don’t really care if you sack him. Just don’t let him buy time. He’s a different passer inside the pocket.
Agreed, but it’s not easy to contain him because he’s such a good athlete.
Agree! Contain him.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hate the Ravens more than any other team inside of our division. Losing to them drives me nuts. I want a double digit victory.
I’m with you
Hey are practically a division foe
We play them every year
For a while they have gotten the better of us
But lately we’ve received the wins
We’ve actually met the ravens 18 times and are 8-10 all time
We run similar concepts on offense that the 49ers run. So we’ll have good video on how the Ravens played them.
No Lamar is a superior runner. We do have to play more disciplined against him. Holland is probably the best spy against him. Is he playing?
I’m hoping our D is better than what they are used to practicing against, too.
Niners DL is better than ours. That doesn’t mean we can’t stop Lamar but it won’t be because we have better talent. We don’t
I’m not going to quible which is better but seems the DL and our WRs have been the best we got going.
SF’s front 7 is ridiculously good. Best in football. That doesn’t mean we are bad but not as good as SF
I’m sure Darlene would agree. Played her last weekend and felt like was going against the Niners. 🙂
The Ravens got a couple of injuries from last night’s game. S Kyle Hamilton (knee) and G Kevin Zeitler (thigh). Neither finished the game last night
I think the better D wins this game. And, hopefully, our D is fresher vs their quick turnaround.
To be clear, O and STs need to do their part. 3 more 50+ yard FGs will work….lol
Under watch…lol. O needs TDs, STs need do it again.
Did the O get any TDs last game? Terrible.
Big game looking forward to it. 🙂
Absolutely!
I’d rather not need 50+ yard FGs. 😂
👍
Lol…agree, but in context all 3 units need to perform…that’s all I’m saying…lol
I’d say the point spread gets bigger as the week goes on. I think all the experts are going to pick the Ravens, we’re not going to get a lot of respect which is fine by me. Let everyone expect the Ravens to win, and then we just steal the game and we take the W.
I expect a competitive game. Two good teams.
I think I keep replying to myself…lol
Maybe, but the interior of the SF DL was the weak spot of their defense last night.
I would love to see Holland come back with a game like Elliot had in his first game back last week and Elliot just balls out again…lol

BOOM! What did I say?!!
So at least for the time being, no more Purdy or Dak for MVP. Tua has now entered the convo once again… and it’s he vs Lamar come Sunday.
Purdy is still #1 in QB rating, but Tua has closed the gap.
The MVP race is simple. If Tua leads our team in a win against Jackson and the Ravens in Baltimore, then finishes off the season with a win against the Bills, then there is your MVP.
Definitely agree that Purdy and Dak aren’t in the MVP conversation

7. Miami

We’ve lost to 3 of the above and need to beat 2 of the above, especially the team at the top of the table.
No Annie Agar this week. In her words, she took the week off, just like the 49’ers.
awwwww too bad.
It’s possible that SF was playing their interior DL to stay along the LOS and not want them to push because that would encourage Lamar to scramble. Hard to know how they were playing it.
That’s how it looked to me.
MVP race should truly be Tyreek vs CMC
