You can spin the Vic Fangio departure whichever way it suits you. It seems the defensive players are happy that Vic Fangio is gone, most notably Dolphins Safety Jevon Holland whose “Kick Rocks” YouTube video got a lot of clicks and attention. The problem is, why was Vic Fangio here in the first place? What was the plan, the vision? We all know he’s a great defensive coordinator with tons of experience, but was he right for this team? I can give Head Coach Mike McDaniel a pass due to the fact that this is his 2nd season as a Head Coach, but GM Chris Grier has to know how to vet coaches after being the GM for 8 seasons now. Continuity is a good thing in the NFL, especially when you’re successful. I feel that the defensive side of the ball was the better unit down the stretch, despite the myriad of injuries they were dealing with for that unit. In fact, considering how bare the shelves were, I think the defense was worthy of praise. Of course, part of this is this talent we had, DL Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler were so impressive, all the while playing more snaps than most of their NFL counterparts. CB Jalen Ramsey did his best playing with a lesser CB on the other side and way too many safety combinations due to injuries to Safeties Jevon Holland, DeShon Elliott and Brandon Jones. Not to mention the Linebackers in the last couple of games, especially the playoff game where we needed to sign 3 LB’s off the street, Justin Houston, Bruce Irvin and Malik Reed. As good as the unit performed, now we’re forced to go in another direction, which breaks the continuity. If Vic’s heart was in Philly all along, that’s a bad job by the Dolphins, period.
On January 15th both GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel had a press conference discussing the future of the team. Regarding DT Christian Wilkins, Grier praised Wilkins, stated that he was happy for him, that he bet on himself after the Dolphins offered him a fair market offer, but now he’s earned the right to be a Free Agent. Grier didn’t close the door, he said he would like to have Christian Wilkins and will keep his eye on the situation, but we’re in cap hell right now, and it truly seems as if there will be big changes here, not just player personnel, but obviously coordinators and assistant coaches too. DL Coach Kenny Baker is leaving the Dolphins to be the Defensive Line Coach for the University of Texas. Assistant Offensive Coaches Mike Judge, Ricardo Allen, Kolby Smith as well as Special Teams assistant coach Brendan Farrell are all leaving as well. If you think about our defense, it’s hard to argue against the statement that our best, most consistent unit was the defensive line, and out goes our DL Coach. Not trying to be negative, but that’s not good. Then again, after listening to Grier, and perusing our cap problems, we probably won’t have Christian Wilkins either.
Back to Christian Wilkins, and really one of the Dolphins shortcomings for quite some time. Drafting quality players and signing them to second contracts. We drafted Christian Wilkins in RD1 #13 in 2019. He had a fantastic season in 2022, played every game, nearly led the team in tackles with 98, but perhaps one shortcoming, only 3.5 sacks was what kept Grier from giving Wilkins more money. They couldn’t agree on a contract, and Wilkins balled out this season, and while he didn’t have as many tackles, he really showed an amazing improvement rushing the passer and creating havoc. Wilkins finished ’23 with 65 tackles, 9 sacks and 23 QB hits. If you watched Hard Knocks, you saw how close he is with his DL mate Zach Sieler. If there’s a contract that needs to get done, this is it right here folks. You can’t let your star walk on his 2nd contract, one you drafted, developed, and actually became a top player. If you’re going to overpay anyone, this is the one.
Back to Tua Tagovailoa. I listen to WQAM every morning, I don’t live in Miami, but I listen to Miami. Host Joe Rose is on the West Coast covering the game out there, so “Hollywood”, Omar Kelly and others have been filling in. This morning, they had CBS Sports NFL commentator Leger Douzable on, former NFL DL for the Rams, Jaguars, Jets, Bills and 49ers. Omar asked Leger point blank, do you give Tua a new contract or let him play on his 5th year option? Leger responded “No way, I let him play on his 5th year option”. In addition to this, there was discussion about Tua and whether he’s a top 5 QB, or even top 10 or worse, as someone else had Tua ranked #16. Douzable said for a good part of the year, Tua played like a top 5 QB, but the way he played in big spots, and down the stretch, he has Tua somewhere around 10-12. He said Tua’s biggest deficit is not being able to elevate the team in big spots. Of course the world is littered with opinions on both sides, but I feel that too many people are too easily willing to overlook how small his play is against better competition and especially big games. I can say if the Dolphins do give Tua a huge contract and can’t find the money to pay Christian Wilkins, I may lose my mind.
Let’s get back to coaches and Defensive Coordinators. We know the players didn’t like Vic Fangio’s “Old School” attitude, “My way or the highway” type of relationship. This is going to be a very big hire. At the end of the season, despite the injuries, Fangio got this defense, or the defense got itself to top 10. We need to improve on this. Of course player personnel will be changing, and the issue of both/either of OLB’s Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips not being available at the start of the season and beyond is already troubling. Add in the likelihood that CB Xavien Howard won’t be back, along with LILB Jerome Baker, DE Emmanuel Ogbah, OLB Andrew Van Ginkel and every Safety not named Jevon Holland, which includes DeShon Elliott, Brandon Jones, and Elijah Campbell. Perchance, maybe we’ll finally see the ascension of CB Cam Smith, who we spent a 2nd RD pick on in ’23 (#51). It was well illustrated that Fangio didn’t trust the rookie, but we must get more out of him next season. With all the turnover on defense, including our Coordinator, GM Chris Grier has a load of work to do. One of his signature moments had better be re-signing DL Christian Wilkins to a contract. He’s the player worth investing in. Much like Wilkins proved his mettle, and worth by elevating his play on the last year of his contract, we have to hope that the same could happen for our QB, Tua Tagovailoa.
I’ve had some discourse with fans on “X”, AKA Twitter regarding our young QB. I love when fans say “you keep moving the bar with Tua”. My answer to that is you keep putting the blindfold on about other deficiencies that come up. Yes, Tua played 17 games, but does that prove he can really be relied on to finish a 17 game season on a regular basis? It might, if he plays in the bubble wrap he played in all season long. Could he ever be expected to dive over the center to get a first down like every single QB remaining in the playoffs, and even those that were already eliminated do on a regular basis? The answer is NO. If the game is on the line and a defender and he are converging short of the first down, can you expect Tua to engage the defender and attempt to get that first down or lose the game? The answer is NO. That’s how he played this season, there’s no denying this. 45 YO Tom Brady was diving over the center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Brady didn’t have concussion issues. I’m not blaming Tua for his concussions, but I think you have to be realistic about what you’re paying for. Now maybe McDaniel and Tua change things up and they allow Tua to play with abandon, and put his body on the line. Do you really think he will last? Some of you will point to Joe Burrow and say he didn’t last. Joe Burrow is a BIG GAME QB. Tua is the king of SMALL GAMES. I don’t say this with animosity towards Tua, just speaking true, and it’s all there for everyone to see, even those wearing blindfolds. I love the kid, he’s a nice, likable player, I just don’t think he’s a winner in his compromised form. I believe he has just as much heart as Joe Burrow, but his HC so desperately wanted to have Tua play the entire season, and with good reason. Tua did not extend plays, as evidenced by his fastest in the NFL release times. You don’t get hurt if you don’t have the football. I’m not saying your QB has to run like Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, but if you can’t see Tua’s self preservation for what it is, I can’t help you see it. You just don’t want to.
As for Free Agents, our most notable one is the extremely aforementioned DL Christian Wilkins. OG Robert Hunt. NT Raekwon Davis. Safeties DeShon Elliott and Brandon Jones. OC Connor Williams, OLB Andrew Van Ginkel, NB Nik Needham. WR’s Braxton Berrios and Cedrick Wilson. OG’s Isaiah Wynn and Robert Jones and OT Kendall Lamm. CB Eli Apple. I feel like we can do better at NT than Raekwon Davis, especially considering how good both Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler were. I think #55 was never really appreciated here. Like Randy said, he’s a very good weakside LB, he’s out of place as an inside banger. I think we do need a new ILB though, which probably ends Jerome Baker’s tenure here. I’ll miss him. Safety DeShon Elliott was a good signing. I would like him back. Eli Apple was a necessity, and therefore he was exposed when relied upon. He’s a good coverage guy who never seemed to get his around to play the ball, despite being step for step with the receiver in coverage. He’s also a willing tackler, and a good one. Robert Hunt should be the 2nd priority. Once again, you want to get those 2nd contracts on your good players, the best NFL teams do this on a regular basis. It shows you’re drafting players. I think we’ll find a new OC, it probably won’t be Connor Williams, despite the fact that he played well. We probably won’t have the cap space available. There will be many difficult contract decisions, most all, I hope they get Christian Wilkins, Robert Hunt and Tua Tagovailoa all correct. Fingers crossed!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Did y’all know that if Chefs* WR Kadarius Toney hadn’t lined up offsides against the Bills, the Chefs* would have beaten the Bills, making us the AFC Champions as it all played out?
We wouldn’t be so down on our Phins.
Sorry, AFC EAST Champions is what I meant.
But let’s go along with the potential #1 AFC seed. Had ‘Reek not fumbled in our game against the Chefs* in Germany for a weird but spectacular return TD for the Chefs*, we’d have won the #1 AFC seed as it all played out.
So I just gave y’all TWO PLAYS that had it played out differently, we’d all be talking nothing but positivity about our Phins.
Of course, if we got bounced out of the playoffs in our first game with homefield advantage, some would still be talking negatively.
We got destroyed by injuries and everyone knew it. But validating that too much takes away from the narratives for scapegoats.
I was hanging out with a bunch of old friends yesterday watching the games and many of us are in our FFL – 33 years. Two of them who are brothers, focus more on the negative of just about anything. It reminded me that’s simply how some people are wired. Not everyone is going to see things the same way. But there still is a reality. 😉
^
By the way those two brothers both identify as progressive, liberal Democrats. They desire all the good in life but can’t handle if things don’t go their way and someone else must be responsible. 🤪
Sounds like Republicans, too…lol
Absolutely!
Gotta do this!!! Feel free to repost and add your own vote…

That’s exactly why we needed to handle our own business, and not depend on other teams
EXACTLY! We’re on the cusp and I feel we’re trending in the right direction after two solid decades of futility.
I could certainly do one for the NEGATIVE! LOL 😉
No, I’m not trying to inject negativity. We made it to the playoffs two years in a row now… that’s what we needed to achieve in order to become even greater in the future.
We seem to interviewing a lot of people for DC
I feel like I’ve heard a half a dozen candidates already
May it be Brandon Staley at the end of it all.
I think that’s highly likely
Me too!
God I hope not

Judge the record of Brandon Staley as a DC… NOT as a HC. Staley’s record is MOST IMPRESSIVE!
What’s more, even Jalen Ramsey has remarked that Staley is the very best DC he’s ever worked under.
Hulkster,
Staley has worked under Vic Fangio and was his understudy. Know what that means? It means continuity on our Defense… no need to blow it all up.
Staley was the DC of the Rams. Under his tenure as DC, he had the #1 scoring Defense, the #1 overall Defense, the #1 passing Defense, and the #3 passing Defense.
I think that’s rather impressive!
Sorry, the #3 rushing Defense.
A lot of times interviewing lesser known candidates for coordinator jobs helps them moving forward. It’s a nice gesture by teams.
Again, ^
Leslie Frazier…have ya’ll seen this?

Looks like two good years out of 6 with the Bills?
Not a Frazier fan
Staley is a moron. I have listened to enough press conferences of his to know he has 💩 for brains
We interviewed Leslie Frazier. That would be a good hire

M13,
I think Ramsey said that about Raheem Morris, not Staley

Nice…
Maybe a stepping stone to HC, but the continuity for another year is intriguing.

Leslie Frazier would be a very good hire as well for DC. He is big on the “Tampa 2” Defense, however. Could we make that work here?
I think we’d be better off with a continuation of our top-10 Defense, under Fangio’s apprentice for a time in Brandon Staley.
I agree and think I misspoke…lol…thinking this
It’s all good, man!
Lol about the SB participants and the mapped enthusiasm…both these teams showed playoff football play…The Dolphins didn’t so shit on the best? Lol…loser thinking, imo.
Maybe, you watch to see what it takes…lol
Oops, everyone knows..lol

M13. That was almost three years ago that he said that- he said something similar about Morris when he got his HC gig with the Falcons .
There is hope?

Not the with laissez-faire attitude about the salary cap this front office has. They will worry about it in March….

They all agree with us. (both sides of the arguments LOL)
Can’t read it, effing paywall
It’s the same arguments that you read on here for the last two weeks. It’s like they changed our names to protect our anonymity, but it’s actually sports show personalities.
Here is the secret to defeat the Herald’s pay wall. I have been doing it for years now. I don’t understand why people complain about having to go through these easy steps.
1. Clear your cookies. (clear everything but log-ins & passwords)
2. select the link to the story you want to read on the MH and right click on the link. Select “open in new Private window” or “Open Link in Incognito mode” Depending on which browser you are using.
THAT IS IT! you are passed their paywall and can do it again later today or tomorrow.
Brian Miller over at the PhinPhanatic has an article saying we should trade Waddle and Holland this year to get some good return from them. I am leaning that way myself. Grief Fucked this team hard “going all in” We will not have the money to pay them their second contract anyway. We should trade them away this year to get some good compensation while they still have a year left on their contracts.
https://phinphanatic.com/posts/miami-dolphins-should-consider-trade-offers-for-jevon-holland-and-jaylen-waddle-01hndhyzhc2x
The team is fucked anyway and we probably won’t be able to retain them because of the cap hell we are in. Might as well stock pile those high draft picks to rebuild NOW.
whew
not disagreeing with Rock or Mike E or anyone as you all make good sense,
but I think if we can draft a quality Center,
if we can draft a TE like the latest young group
that have made a big impact catching and running like the guy at Buffalo,
and
if we can draft a bruiser-back to replace the redundant Ahmed,
then I think the only other need we have is the right fit at DC
and filling out those empty assistant coach slots well on defense, thus …
I think we can win 13 and at least 3 playoff games next year.
This is assuming Wilkins is resigned as well as Hunt and AVG.
you are only about 12 players short of a full roster at that point. With no money to sign any more… (BTW Wilkins is gone, buy buy, So is Hunt & AVG.
2024 Miami Dolphins offseason
Restructure the top-5 cap-eaters in order to get us under the cap
Re-sign the following priority FAs: Christian Wilkins, Robert Hunt, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Isaiah Wynn
Contingent upon $$$ under the cap, there are other FAs we’d like to bring back
DC: sign Brandon Staley. This keeps our Defensive system intact, being Staley learned from Vic Fangio. Continuity is important here to retain a top-10 Defense
Huge ???: Terron Armstead’s pending retirement. Even if he comes back for another season, he’ll undoubtedly miss many games. It’s time to draft his eventual replacement
Draft
R1P21: I’d strongly urge a trade down to the bottom of the 1st round to recoup a day 2 selection, unless there’s a can’t-miss LT staring us in the face
R2(55): Best interior O-Lineman available, preferably at Center
Oh yeah… sign Tua Tagovailoa to a new, cap-friendly contract. If he’s $25M against the cap next season, NOT GOOD
* Cap-friendly means structured to keep his ’24 and ’25 $$$ low.
And REMEMBER… we can structure an OUT for Tua upon a new contract. That means if he’s not working out for us by “x” amount of time, we can cut him with a minimal penalty.
NOT if you backload his contract to make the first two years friendly you cant. That’s how it works my friend. If you make the beginning of the contract friendly, there will be no cheap out later because you have to account for the bonus you gave him early to make the cap look small. The money still gets paid out early, it just gets accounted for later.
Bobby Babich off the list of candidates for Miami DC. Just got the job for the Bills. (promoted from within)
M13
If we sign Tua so that he has a low cap hit in 24-25
Won’t that mean he’s a huge cap hit in 26?
For me pushing the cap hit down the road is a hard sell
yup, or ’27 & ’28
You kick the can down the road but the can is still there on the road.
You and Rockphin are correct, Pigster. I got ahead of my skis on as much.
It depends on what other contracts look like for that year

You are exactly correct. Yeah, I got ahead of myself there. Thank you for the correction!
Going with what Brian Miller said and using the NFL Draft Buzz mock draft simulator, I traded Waddle, Ogbah and Baker for pick #4, #104 and 2025 4th. Then traded down to pick #5 for more picks and did some other shit where I lost track of what I did and ended up with this nice draft:
#5 LT Olumuyina Fashanu, Penn State
#21 LT/LG Graham Barton, Duke
#53 WR Xavier Worthy, Texas
#69 C Zach Frazier, West Virginia
#104 ILB Junior Colson, Michigan
#105 WR Ainias Smith, Texas A&M
#158 TE Dallin Holker, Colorado State
#186 S Jalen Green, Miss State
#199 RB Jawhar Jordan, Louisville
#242 DT Gabe Hall, Baylor
2025 4th
2025 6th
I really like that draft, but who is going to take on the HUGE contracts of Baker and Ogbah? I think we’re going to have to cut them.
I meant to say, I REALLY like that draft!!! 😀
I know but the sim’s don’t look at that. lol
LOL, I got ya, bud!
It would be a really bad deal if we traded Waddle, but if we got the #4 pick it would soften the blow.
Remember we used TWO first round picks to take Waddle so we used a first round pick for a rental of a player. To make it worse we sent OUR pick to the Eagles instead of the 49r’s pick so we lost out on draft position the next year too!
Grief is a fucking disaster.
We’re not trading Waddle.
so we will let him go after his first contract for nothing?
Cap hell = No extensions
Anthony Weaver – Ravens
Chris Kiffin – Texans
Brandon Staley – Chargers
Anthony Campanile – Dolphins
Ryan Slowik – Dolphins
Leslie Frazier – Out of work
Bobby Babich – Took Bills position
Did I miss any of our DC interviews?
If I’m not mistaken, I think ya got all of them.
I would love if we signed Leslie Frazier, but he’s known to prefer the Tampa-2 Defense… which would mean reverting to a 4-3 Defense. I’m not sure that’s wise at this point.
Give me Staley first, or Campanile for the continuation of our current Defense.
I agree. Hulk can go smash shit.
The way teams play defense these days 3-4 or 4-3 doesn’t really matter anymore. Most teams play a form of 4-2-5 most of the time.
🤢😡🤬
I want to stuck with the 3-4 too
But if we re-signed Wilkins I bet Seiler and Wilkins would crush it in the 4-3
Pretty sure Chubb and a Phillips can both play DE too
It might be a terrific line
But we will need LBs if that happens
I think Chris Kiffen is a sleeper for DC. The SF connection.
I’m now a FL resident, my house closes in Vegas tomorrow, New house ready by end of year😃
Congrats!
Thanks Tim!
I wonder if Ezukanma is in the plans? He was on IR all season but it was because of an injury that resurfaced that he had in college. Is it career threatening?
They said it was not career threatening
Cool, I think he has potential.
They were really trying to work him into the offense early this season
Yep
We lack the kind of tackle breaking WR he is, he’ll surely be given every opportunity
He’s also very good on end arounds, he runs with conviction.
Better hope Ezukanma does well, we’re not drafting a WR and we’re not signing any big FA ‘s either
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8nKjceL/
Annie Agar and she nailed exactly how I feel about Staley
Seahawks hiring Ravens DC MacDonald, which likely means Weaver is out for us as a candidate because they will likely elevate him to DC. Sucks, I kinda wanted him to be our guy.
Weaver also interviewed for the Commanders HC job.
Hey Bellicheck is available to be our DC 😃
He’s a STUD!
By my question would be: is a Center worthy of a 1st round selection when your LT position is up in the air (T-Stead)? And even if T-Stead doesn’t retire, we know he’s only going to be good to go for half the season.
I think it will come down to who is available at LT in the draft. Fantanu and Barton project inside to OG. Lathem might be able to move from RT to LT but likely won’t be there. The next LT available will be Morgan. Is he a better pick than JPJ at #21?
When ya put it that way, then yes… I could see our guy JPJ being legit @ R1P21… great point.
Man, I hope one of the better Tackles falls to us.
I’d be very good with JPJ @ R1P21, but that LT position is going to have to be addressed sooner rather than later with T-Stead’s failing football health.
Sigh, it’s early still but I just cant bring myself to go to any of the mock draft sites to f around. Is this the beginning of the end? I just don’t care because I think Grief has fucked this team beyond repair.
I’m not quite as pessimistic as you are, but I probably should be. Why? Even if we restructure a boatload of contracts to make it work in ’24, we’re kicking the can down the road to ’25.
The way I see it, we now have a 1-year window (’24) before we have to pay the piper in ’25. Going all-in has its consequences, and Grief certainly went all-in last season.
Just keep picking OL forever until they finally figure it out I guess. Not like they are going to bring in any competition for Tua.
Armstead is going to play(well a few games anyway) next year. He’s not leaving money on the table.
If it makes ya feel any better, I think I like Bo Nix, QB, Oregon. Can’t see him lasting to #55, but if he’s there, just maybe…
So exciting news (for me!) I found this safe buried in the floor of the crawl space under my stairs. (there is a storage space off my garage on the first floor of my condo and the living area is on the 2nd floor) well there was this little door / access panel in the storage room to the space under the stairs. I looked in it before we moved in and it appeared empty. A couple of months ago I was reorganizing the garage and putting stuff away in the storage room so I could park a car in the garage and ran out of room so I crawled under the stairs to move some stuff from the storage room to the crawl space. There is a floor safe in the slab under the stairs. I assumed it was empty and didn’t think about it much. Then I brought it up to my coworker and he was like dude you gotta open it! So I investigated. I went on line and looked up the model or the safe and did a search and found an post on Redit about resetting this model’s combination. The combo is set at 123456 from the factory. I tried it. Nope. Then I tried 654321 and the fucker opened. I found 74 – 10 once bars of silver and 14 – 1 gram bars of gold! FUCKING HIDDEN TREASURE UNDER MY STAIRS!!
I just looked it up and that is about $18K worth of metals!!! WOOOOOOOO!
If my buddy didn’t pester me about it I probably would have never looked!
NICE!!!
I called him last night when I found it to tell him and his first comment was “So how much do I get for suggesting you do a search to see if you can reset the combo?”
I bought him lunch today. LOL
LOL
I wonder if the owner before me even knew the safe was there or if it was from a previous owner. The place was built in 1984 and has had 6 owners since then. I can’t imagine forgetting you had treasure in a safe under the stairs! That owner must have died or something!
Yes… likely died and nobody else knew about it.
Rockphin,
I hear gold is trading for $1 per ounce and silver for $.50 per ounce. What do ya say, let’s make a deal, you and me! 😉
LOL Silver is at $23 per ounce today and gold is at 2040 per ounce today.
Are you trying to get over on your buddy? LOL
😆
So, do I sell it or keep it so when I die it goes lost again? LOL
That won’t happen. I’m going to tell my sisters about it and give them the combination (which I changed! 654321! stupid!
FUCK I accidentally hit subscribe. AM I going to be inundated with spam now? Damnit!
Rockphin,
Best story I can tell ya is that my brother and I (more my brother) were renovating the upstairs of a house about 4 years ago. Upon breaking down some walls, we found an old Christmas card… with $1000 in it. Seemed to be circa early 1980s.
Not even close to what YOU discovered, but it was still nice!
That is cool! I think I have mentioned on here that I was electrocuted and revived back in 1991 and sustained brain damage and lost a lot of long term memories. Well, before I got hurt I had been saving up for an engagement ring and hiding the money in a boxed set of “Lord of the Rings” in my closet. I had a little over 3K saved at that time. When I got shocked that was one of the things I forgot. (along with the fact that she and I had broken up the week before my accident) Well, years later, and married, I was taking to my older Bro who had never read the Lord of the Rings and told him he could borrow my boxed set. HE found the money and played coy asking me if I had lost anything. He dicked around with me for days before coming over and giving me back the money. It wasn’t until then that I VAGUELY remembered why there would be money stashed in the ‘Fellowship of the Ring” book.
We almost gave those books away 2 or three times when we moved.
WOW!
Hey, thank goodness for good brothers! He could have easily taken advantage of you, but he made the morally correct decision.
And aren’t you fortunate for never giving those books away!!!
46 lbs of silver!
DAYUM!
If you feel a prospect at center is going to be your starter for at least the next 5 years, nothing wrong with drafting one in 1st round. Especially later in the round. It’s a pretty important position.
I agree with this, especially if we’d be reaching for a LT @ R1P21.
My general thoughts are that in an ideal world, ya want to draft either a skill or a most valuable position (ie: LT) in the 1st round.
If it doesn’t mesh up, do NOT reach.
Never reach, always match the value with the need. You don’t pass on superior talent for a specific need.
EXACTLY
I would not be against drafting a center in round 1. He better be our starter year one for 4-8 years though. None of this shit of let’s try him at center, let’s move him to guard, let’s try him at the other guard, cut him that is Grief’s MO
^
I wouldn’t be surprised if we traded down in the 1st round or out of it. It depends on how prospects are ranked in this draft. Is it a deep 1st round or does it get light in the teens and there is better value in the 2nd round?
Congrats Rock! I have gold and silver also. My dad bought some in the 80’s then passed it on to me. I think it’s worth about 35-40K right now. Never knew what to do with it but hold it. I guess I will continue to save it for when the world collapses. 😉
Most probably pass it on to my kids before I go.
I’ve had that thought in the back of my head since I found it. “When the world collapses” LOL
Yeah, I think I will keep it. With everything manufactured these days taking silver (batteries, electronics, etc) the price is due to go up.
No need to turn it into paper and give the government a cut! (30%)
If it makes ya feel any better, I think I like Bo Nix, QB, Oregon. Can’t see him lasting to #55, but if he’s there, just maybe…
———————–
That would be a great pick there. Nothing wrong with upgrading the QB room with a great backup/future starter.
All my mocks have him gone by pick 40.

That is what is going to make this draft so interesting for us. I said the other day that 3-4 QB’s, 4-5 WR’s, 4-5 OL, 3-4 CB’s and TE Brock Bowers will go before pick 20. Even going by the low end that’s 15 spots. That is going to push some REALLY good players to #21. More QB’s, WR’s, CB’s, LB, Edge, DT, and OL will all be there.
Like you tell me every 10th mock I do, we will have to see what we do in free agency first.
LOL We DO tend to repeat ourselves on here don’t we?
yep…
yep
😂
We’re in a spot at #21 where we wait and see how the 1st round unfolds and go from there. I don’t expect us to be big players in FA, I think we’ll try to bring back as many players as we can that we have a high regard for. Then add some competition from the outside and then we draft. There is a core here we’re going to try and win with.
Speaking of silver and gold made me think about OD. I haven’t seen him post in a long while, has anyone else seen him around?
I hope he is doing well.
MF13, I don’t know how fortunate I was that my Bro didn’t keep it. I was married by then, so the wife took it. LOL 😣😅😂
OUCH!!!
Is it a deep 1st round or does it get light in the teens and there is better value in the 2nd round?
—————–
I think it is deepest (very deep) at WR. CB, QB, OL, Edge all look good with OL being better than last year. I think the top 50 are really good prospects then starts to really thin out at WR, CB, QB, EDGE and OL after the 2nd round.
I guess we could say that every year. lol
The mocksters always play up the draft as much as they can. Teams don’t do that. Most years teams don’t think there are 32 1st round talents. But if you can’t trade up or down you have to pick someone.
Party at Rock’s tonight. Homeraide for everyone
**tomorrow night (it’s a school night) 😉
I’ve heard this ‘theory’, and I believe it could happen…
If Andy Reid wins the Super Bowl this year (and I’ve heard he’s got health problems for months now), he’ll retire. At which point, Bill Belicheat* will become the new Chefs* HC after a season away.
Thoughts?
Not going to happen. Reid will remain in KC. Not buying the health rumors. He is only 65
I heard on the radio the other day that same subject and the guy who knows Andy Reid said not if he can still do it. His health issue was a botched knee replacement and that’s why he walks with a limp. The guy said he lives for football and watching film. Give him a pint of ice cream at night 3-4 hours of sleep and he’s back at it. The results show it. He’s a great coach.
So do those pints of ice cream
😂
All I know is that I certainly hope these ‘theories’ and rumors aren’t true.
Let me guess, whoever we hire as DC will be the wrong one. 🤣
Maybe, and then they give Tua $55M per we’ll know we’re doing it wrong. I’m holding out hope, but it looks messy right now.

Achane finished the season with 103 carries for 800 yards and 11 total touchdowns. His 7.8 yards per carry average is the most of any running back in a season in NFL history (min. 100 carries).
He is going to be BETTER this season! Stay healthy young man! Get in the gym with ‘Reek and fine-tune that body.
Feel good article about how “Great” we were this year.
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/inside-the-numbers-year-in-review-2023
I am trying to get a better attitude toward the Dolphins. Maybe I’ll feel like change my Avi…..
Nah, I still want Greif gone and to drop the bomb.
Did you guys here Ron Jaworski flapping is fat gums about our Dolphins and how Fangio thought the the players didn’t want to work and only wanted to party on south beach?
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/nfl/2024/01/31/divorce-between-miami-dolphins-vic-fangio-turns-messy-mike-mcdaniel-drew-rosenhaus-ron-jaworski/72424933007/
F that slob
This is exactly what you would expect some one form out of town visiting Miami say
He’s just making stuff up
Whoa Piggy channeling Home. 😉
I mean telling people that south beach is a place where everyone parties and no one works hard is kind of the thing some one who’s time there was spent on vacation
It’s a very touristy thing to say about south beach
People actually live in south Florida
And people who live there work for a living – just like Philadelphia.
Home was a little different. He mocked out of towners for not “knowing about the team” which was bs
I’m talking about Jaworski telling everyone south beach is a big party and players don’t want to work hard bc jaworski had a wild weekend in Miami 1978. That’s bullshit
He is Fangio’s friend and a Philadelphia Eagles former player. He’s being a jerk
People in Philadelphia don’t work any harder Miami
These guys think Miami is a salsa band and an umbrella daquriri
Wait….
Peyton Wilson is a LB who interests me if there in the 5th. He is versatile. They moved him inside and outside throughout almost every game. He’s 6’4 238 and projected to run 4.50 or low 4.5’s. Has the frame to get bigger.
We may need LBs is we end up hiring a DC who wants to pay a base 4-3 defense
I think if we hire a DC who wants to run a base 4-3 front
And we re-sign Wilkins
And if Phillips and Chubb come all the way back healthy for the start of the season
A DL of Phillips, Seiler, Wilkins and Chubb might kill it
And maybe OLB is a good spot for Van Ginkle in that scenario
So Long Jr and Van Ginkle at LB
I think Baker will probably be cut after 6/1 for the cap room
We probably have to draft a LB in this scenario
Traditionally easy to find good ones on day 2
I think Phillips loses his edge playing 4-3 DE. I think he’s better coming off the wide edge. Chubb might be OK at 4-3 DE
Remember Cam Wake
He was a guy who always came off wide
And he was exceptional in a 4-3
Wake is shorter than Phillips and always had that great dip. I don’t recall Phillips having that type of pass rush move that Wake had.
he struggled initially to play standing up when they MOVED him to OSLB. He was a hand in the ground DE first, so no problem there, IMO.
Piggy:
I was just messing with you. Hence the 😉 emoji
Edgerrin Cooper is another one I like but would have to take him in the 2nd round. He’s an ILB but also has lined up in multiple positions in games. They list him at 6’3 230 but I don’t think he is that tall. Projected to run a 4.52. He’s got some thumper in him.
Anyone hear from Old Dolphan lately? I have some numismatics work in Tampa for him if he’s still working.
Haven’t heard from him in a while. I got a bunch of old coins I’ve been thinking about getting rid of.
probably not worth much though.
Rock – do you remember Phillips being anything special though? As far as I’m concerned he’s been more hype than results until mid season this year. He was really starting to cook
He was crushing it before his injury
Right, that’s what I said. That was at OLB, I want him to stay there
Chubb was too. I really don’t want to change any if it. Wilkins has to re-signed and Sieler wad awesome too. We can do better at NT but Davis doesn’t kill us
Congratulations to Tua the 2023 Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year
…waiting for Mike E to be triggered
He can Comeback to his 5th year on his contract . lol
Interesting!
https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-interviewing-rams-asst-chris-shula-grandson-of-don-shula-for-defensive-coordinator-job
huh
I am fully against this hire if it is only based upon the name. It can’t be right?
You know because Mike and Dave were soooo successful…
I doubt it’s solely based on his name. He might be a good coach. Or it could be a favor out of respect for the legend of the franchise.
I suspect the latter. He’s had ONE year as a position coach. You don’t make that jump to coordinator after on year as a position coach. (quality control and assistant coach before then)
So happy for Tua.
Voted on by his peers!
Richly deserved.
Jaworski is remembering the year he spent drunk on his ass for the Dolphins after his career was toast .
The Commanders are set to hire Dan Quinn as their next head coach, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources.
Tua deserves the Comeback Player of the Year. MVP though, I’d laugh him off the stage

Yes, I remember him starting slow but getting better and finishing with 8.5 sacks on the year after having donated bone marrow to his sister that offseason
That said, I don’t want to change the defense up. I want to keep the same system in place with one of Fangio’s proteges
That was Austin Jackson who donated bone marrow to his sister.
AH Thanks man. I got them mixed up!

No, I asked the same question earlier. I haven’t seen him since before the end of the season.
Same here… I’d asked about Old Dolfan about a month ago, but nobody had an answer.
For those of you wanting to add a new QB, I’d focus on Tennessee’s Joe Milton in the 5th round if he’s still available. He’s got the size (6’5″, 235), decent speed (low 4.6 40-time), has the most powerful arm of the ’24 Draft, but is a project with his ’23 64.7% completion.
He’ll need at least a year of development behind Tua and I’m not sure he’s Coach McDaniel’s type of QB, but man does he ever let it fly. I can hear, “HE’S GOT HILL!!! HE’S GOT HILL!!!”…
Joe Milton is currently projected to go in the 5th round, but his Senior Bowl week could change that… AND his Combine, where he’s sure to impress.
Rock, Waddle has two years left on his rookie contract if we exercise his 5th year option.
That is why he is valuable as a trade!
You get squat for guys in the final years of their contracts. Belicheat was always great at getting rid of guys “a year early”
**year
What’s the point of doing that though? You trade a WR who has 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons on a rookie deal for draft picks?
because we won’t have the $$ to pay him top dollar because Grief is an asshole.
of course it will never happen because Grief is still in charge. The blow up won’t come until he get’s fired and by then it will be let him go for nothing because he will be a FA or on his 5th year. (take the trade comp from a potential 1st to a 3rd or less)
That would be going backwards. That would be a mistake by Grier, keeping him is the smart thing to do.
THIS… is IMPRESSIVE… MOST IMPRESSIVE!
AND this…
Why trade Waddle?
He’s a 3-time thousand-yard WR!
He has chemistry with Tua and McDaniel.
We’ll need him after Hill retires in 2-3 years.
Aren’t we trying to build a team here?
Why mess with the core?
He’s still relatively cheap.
What would you want to get for Waddle?
It makes no sense.
first round pick to start the rebuild
That’s not what we’re doing. I know you despise Grier and everything but you’re not being realistic.
OK you can wait until next year’s misery by then I will have forgotten this discussion so you won’t get an “I told you so” So I will say it now. I AM TELLING YOU SO.
No playoffs in 24 regression and pain. Grief get’s handed his hat and coat at the end of the year. (like he should have been when Flores was canned)
I don’t care about told you so stuff and I think you’re overreacting. But we shall see. 😉
Do you think I’m overreacting? I’m in the middle of my annual blow it up phase. Of course I am overreacting.
Phase 1 Kool-Aid man
Phase 2 freak out
Phase 3 blow it up
Man, I’ve been posting on here for like 15 years 🙄😬
I even do you the courtesy of changing my avatar, so there should be no confusion. 😂😂
Sorry, y’all… I just can’t see drafting a QB with one of our first two selections this year, unless the likes of Bo Nix falls to us @ 55.
And being we have no 3rd or 4th rounders this Draft, Joe Milton is the best I can do in the 5th round… if he even lasts that long.
That’s not to say there isn’t a diamond in the rough in the later rounds or even potential UDFAs.
Mr. irrelevant is looking pretty good in the Super Bowl this year ….
Hulkster,
Could ya do us a favor and get ahold of Stanger, who probably knows Old Dolfan Randy Campbell the best of all. Ask him if everything is alright with Old Dolfan. Some of us are concerned that he hasn’t been here in some time.
Thanks in advance, Bro!
I asked him about a month ago and he said he hadn’t heard from him but I will check in with him again
Waddle will be resigned and he will assume the #1 role as Hill will likely be moving on at that time
Yep. He said he’s retiring after his contract is up.
Unless you are guys are into pig vomit all over the blog, we should probably not mention trading Waddle anymore…
🐧 forever
Milton does have a cannon!
He would be an upgrade over Skylar.
As Busta Rhyme once said on A Tribe Called Quest’s track “Scenario”…
“Powerful impact, BOOM! from the CANNON!”
Surprised no one has hired Mike Vrabel yet.
ditto
but I think he displayed some sideline pissy-face
and defeatist body language this year.
He looked like he was saying, “This ain’t my fault.”
… could’ve been he didn’t like what the GM was doing.
(like watching his best WR get away)
but then that might make other GMs not want to try to work with him.
Something certainly went sour in Nashville,
and the stink is clinging to Vrabel.
Or it might just be happenstance related to nothing specific.
He wanted a lot of power in the building is what I heard. I think teams are moving away from HCs like that.
I can understand it. He squandered Ryan Tannehill’s best years. 😜🤣🤣🤣
Thank you, Hulkster!
I can’t see where an 11-win playoff season with the QB throwing for top yards in the NFL and 2 WRs going over 1000 and 2 RBs with 10+ TDs is cause for a rebuild.
Not like our D totally sucked. We were very high in sacks and QB hits and very low in YPCarry allowed. We have an excellent youngish core of talent on that side of the ball as well!
We do have a #1 pick and a #2 pick this year
(I’ve forgotten what that feels like!)
to help fill those few holes we still have.
Our still young HC has improved year to year and
is still assembling “his guys” incl. coaches.
Yep
So where did we have trouble last year that cost us those games we lost?
3rd and short or medium.
McDaniel felt he had to get cute and could not use power
to get those 1-4 gritty yards or 4-8 after a false start to keep our O on the field.
Same on the goal line. Can’t be throwin’ a corner fade every G-D time!
So
we need a Center capable of drive-blocking open a crease
as well as getting to the 2nd level with force.
And we need a power-back RB to hammer the hole
on 3rd and short and goal to go.
And we need a “Will-not-be-denied” TE to get the
3rd and medium 4-6 yards so as to move the chains.
The team knows what they need to do to take the next step and it doesn’t involve replacing core players or having no money to put a good roster together. 🙂
M13, if we were to trade down and pick up some picks, I like QB Jordan Travis also. He doesn’t have a cannon, but is accurate, good touch and quick release. Got some running ability also. I think he might slide a little due to his season ending injury but he will go before the 5th.
Now there’s a guy who’s more like a Coach McDaniel-style QB. However… that 63.9% completion is even more concerning than Joe Milton’s troubling 64.7% completion.
Oh… and just saw Travis has a medical red flag warning.
I’m certainly not writing him off altogether, for he might be a system-fit for Coach McDaniel.
Good for Tua winning comeback player of the year. I thought for sure Hamlin was going to win because of the severity of his injury and the pure emotion that went with his situation, but Tua really was the player that deserved it. Hamlin only played 111 snaps, mostly on STs.
That came from “The Sporting News”, not the NFL. We’ll see when the “NFL Awards” are officially announced. My bet is still on Hamlin.
Ahh, bummer, I just saw someone up the board congratulate him and thought it was a done deal.
Yeah, fighting your way back to the practice squad isn’t as impressive

Is the pro bowl on? Is this the pro bowl? Is this what I’m watching?
This is the skills competition, there’s a flag game on Sunday.
What you’re watching is taking place right down the street at UCF’s indoor practice field.
To be honest, IDGAF what awards any of our softies get. Win a fucking playoff game and then we can talk
Are you willing to admit the injury bug really crippled us, or the team is simply soft? I think the latter derailed us, not the mental makeup of the team.
It’s just more excuses Tim. The offense was mostly intact. The defense I can give a pass, but the offense was there. They didn’t do anything to help the team. They were totally shut down, not just against KC but against BUF in our house, and you can even throw in the Cowboy game where we needed 5 FG’s to win.
I mean look at the Steelers. They won 3 games in a row to finish the season with a QB who started 1 game last year, and was starting his first game December 16th. Yeah, they lost to BUF w/o their All Pro LB T.J Watt, but they finished 1 game worse than us playing December with their backup QB.
The offense was not all there for the last month of the season especially in the Buffalo game. Some guys came back for KC. Also Tua threw for over 290 yards against Dallas so I don’t know what you mean when you say we couldn’t throw against Dallas
The Steelers backup QB might be better than their starter. Also they played the last game against the Ravens JV squad
I agree Mike E
The defense was decimated and still played relatively well in my opinion. If there had been some semblance of offense to help them out, keeping them off the field, they would have been fine.
The issue is the disappearance time and time again from the offense and our franchise QB when you need them to step up. Everything is fine when there’s nothing at stake and no pressure. Once any pressure mounts…poof gone!
I think what bugs me the most is the nonchalant attitude after every disappearance.
Hill was hampered down the stretch, Waddle was banged up all year. Achane missed critical time. We rarely had the same OL playing together then Mostert who had 20 TDs was banged up. We were not the same team. But Tua should have elevated everything? With who?
With Hill at close to 100% the O still functioned pretty well, once he got nicked the O deficiencies like no TE were more apparent
