The Dolphins first pick was made and it was a good one. I was definitely hoping we would choose an edge rusher. O-line should definitely be the next priority, but I felt EDGE was our top need. To be honest, it wasn’t Robinson that was my first choice. He wasn’t my second choice either. I was hoping Laiatu Latu fell, or Jared Verse, but as it happens, neither of them made it to our pick, but the need was still addressed. So for that I’m pleased. Brian in NY and M both both watch Penn State religiously, and Brian vouches for Chop, so I’m cool with that. What worries me is his lack of sacks at the college level, but he has what you can’t teach, maybe the most impressive burst in this draft class, and tremendous closing speed. Hopefully, the rest is coachable, and that results in a lot more production at the pro level. He’ll be ready to go right out of the chute, and they will use him in favorable situations.
We’ve discussed it here so many times, but the truth is we have no idea what the timetable is for our 2 OLB’s, Bradley Chubb (ACL surgery) and Jaelan Phillips (Achilles surgery), so therefore I felt, and the Dolphins brass also felt that OLB was as much as a priority as the O-line. In addition, the depth quality at EDGE is nowhere as deep as the O-line is, so I think we can still land a quality OL at #55. Players like, Zach Frazier OG Cooper Beebe, Christian Hayes, and Zak Zinter could help us now and down the line. One thing though about our first pick Chop Robinson though is that he will probably be a rotational player and used at multiple positions to maximize his skills. While that’s good, it’s also going to put a lot on his plate, so hopefully he’s up for that challenge. The comparison for Chop is Micah Parsons, but as one NFC scout said :
“I get the comparison to Micah Parsons, but I think Parsons was a little more polished as a football player when he came out. Chop is still a little green.” – NFC national scout
Another thing to consider is how much longer is Bradley Chubb with the team? This is his 2nd ACL surgery, and not that ends any NFL player’s career these days, I mean Frank Gore had 2 ACL surgeries before he got to the NFL, and he played 16 seasons and rushed for 16,000 yards. Chubb’s dead cap hit will be high in ’25 and in ’26, but it’s still possible he’s gone after this season or next, and of course Jaelan Phillips had his 5th year option picked up, but we saw Christian Wilkins walk, if Phillips has a great season this season and we haven’t already given him an extension, that could go poorly for us like it did with Wilkins.
As I’ve previously mentioned, the flux on the O-line is real, there are a lot of players that are here on one year contracts, so we need to find some players that will be here for a while, so I very strongly feel our next pick will be for the O-line. Sure, we could use a Safety, we could use another WR, a RB who runs with a nasty demeanor and has a little power to push the pile on short yardage plays and more. With the addition of TE Jonnu Smith, I put the priority low for TE. If Weaver follows suit from Ravens DC Mike McDonald, the safety position is important as he likes Swiss Army knife guys that play in multiple positions, so at some point in the draft I’d expect a safety to be chosen by us. Oregon State’s Kitan Oladapo who is a big Safety 6’2 216, more like a SS, but could due to his size play a little LB and excel in pass coverage against a TE. Utah’s Cole Bishop is another longer player who can also potentially cover a TE. Everyone’s favorite here thoough is Iowa’s Cooper DeJean, who is listed as a CB, but has Safety potential in the NFL. Don’t be surprised if Grier trades back either, considering once again, the huge gap between our picks from RD2 – RD5, over a 100!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

DeJean could be another Harrison Smith.
I think (hope) Chop’s model is another PSU LB Cam Wake.
Almost same ht/wt and bendy and has that lean and swoop move.
Cam had less baby fat but Chop’s young.
I could see Robinson getting a hundred sacks and a safety in 12 years.
I’d sign up for that right now! Can he get us 15 sacks each this season and next though? 😄
no
but no rookie will do that and no FA guy we can afford will do that and almost nobody anywhere will do that … not even Cam Wake did that 2 seasons in a row very often.
only about 25 players in history ever had 2 or more seasons with 15 sacks.
Naples, obviously I was just kidding . . .
my bad
sorry my friend
I know nothing about him but I love his name. He just sounds like a bad ass football player. 😂
Thanks for the article Mike E!!!
It’s short for Pork Chop
I have no negative words…
If things go like this, I’d reach for Amegadjie and move him to RG.
I would too , except I’m probably playing him at LG and eventually planning to play him at LT
Given the change in the competition he’s going to face – I think you have to treat him as a project, so he is not a plug and play guy
if we drafted him he will be competing to get playing time at OG, right or left side
I just saw some. College stats that are worth considering
TJ Watt – 11.5 sacks in 2 years at Wisconsin
Micah Parsons – 6.5 sacks in 2 years at PSU (I didn’t count 2020 as the 3rd year bc he didn’t play any games)
some worry about Pork Chops sack totals in college
worry about your Pork and your Chops and stop oinking around
Sounds good to me
Thank you, Mike E.
Also, I saw in one of his videos where he states he has already started to work on his hand placement/technique as that was one of the knocks on him. Good for him….and perhaps he can excel.
My pleasure Krishna! A student of the game is the best type. If he’s motivated to learn, he’ll become a very good player, because you can’t teach the athleticism he has, but he can learn how to perfect his pass rush repertoire.
I saw that video too. He’s also only 21. He’s a very grounded kid.
I still like Isaac Querendo more than any other RB in this draft.
He had a PERFECT 99 athleticism score.
Better than Jonathan Brooks?
Brooks dances too much for me.
He needs to see hole, hit hole.
From last blog: Naples – “and Chubb’s contract is up after this season”
———————–
No, it’s not. Far from it. Chubb is under contract through the 2027 season. Not only that, it’s for a whopping 30 million a year in 2025, 26 and 27. He still carries 27.3 mil in dead cap after this season. We do have an out clause after this season.
If they decide to move on from Chubb next year:
Pre 6/1 release or trade will have a 27.3 mil dead cap hit but clear 1.9 mil in 2025 cap.
Post 6/1 release or trade will have a 9.1 mil dead cap hit and clear 20.2 mil in 2025 cap then leave an 18.2 mil dead cap hit and clear 11.1 mil in 2026 cap.
Moving on from Chubb after this season could be in their plans with a post 6/1 release like they did with X. He is not worth 30 mil a year with 2 bum knees.
This very well could be the reason they drafted and targeted one of the top 4 edge players.
Naples, come next March, we could find out you were actually right. lol
You guys think Bills stay at #33, or trade back again? It’s usually a very coveted pick, first of the day
I think they will listen to offers and the pundits are expecting a run on corners which seems to happen every year in the 2nd round.
They need CB and WR. Hard to say.
I think they will sniff their own farts
Post 1st Round Mock Draft
They auto fill the picks from last night so no confusion. (PFN simulator)
I think they may try to trade down from 55 for more picks or trade some future capital for more.
21. Chop Robinson EDGE Penn State
76. Javon Bullard S Georgia
121. Mason McCormick OG South Dakota State
145. Erick All TE Iowa
158. Khristian Boyd NT/DT Nothern Iowa
184. Isaac Guerendo RB Louisville
198. Caedan Wallace OT Penn State
241. Marcellas Dial CB South Carolina
So Grier tried to trade back up into the 1st round last night, huh? That’s aggressive (which I do like) and shows he either wanted one given individual, or is trying to find the BPA to fill a given position.
He almost had to have dangled our 2025 3rd rounder (being we’ll be getting at least one, maybe two comp picks in the 3rd next season).
I have a feeling he’s going to be aggressive again this evening. Gotta think he’s looking at the O-Line in the 2nd round and maybe we find someone to trade up with from R2P55 to secure JPJ?
It’s going to be interesting!
And if we can’t get JPJ, I’d still be aggressive to get either of Christian Haynes or Cooper Beebe.
If we can get one of the top OG/C and still get a solid DT/DE, I’d be thrilled
Like Beebe or Haynes or Frazier and Fiske
Right on! And I wouldn’t be mad if we traded up for Johnny Newton either, but I don’t see that happening… we’ll see!
NFL Live now talking about Atlanta’s pick Penix, after paying 180m for Cousins
What RU doing Atlanta?
Pretty odd, but they got him for 5 years, so time to see if he works out and then Cousins is gone
That was a bit of a head scratcher.
No trades:
21. Chop Robinson EDGE Penn State
55. Cooper Beebe OG Kansas State
158. Tykee Smith S Georgia
184. Erick All TE Iowa
198. Willie Drew CB Virginia State
241. Walter Rouse OT Oklahoma

——————
Doesn’t everyone???
little literal?
say that 10x…
I swear, if we can somehow get Johnny Newton, opposing Offenses will never know how to react to our pass-rushing prowess in passing sits.
Who do ya double inside, Sieler or Newton?
Oh crap, they’re blitzing Chop from the outside! Ramsey, Fuller, and Needham have their receivers LOCKED DOWN! Looked like Holland was coming with a Safety blitz from the other side, but he dropped back into coverage!
BOOM!!! Newton shot the gap and leveled the QB!!! BALL IS OUT!!! CHOP RECOVERS THE FOOTBALL and he’s going to take it ALL THE WAY!!! TD!!!
DARE TO DREAM!!! 😀
Then I woke up and realized that Tua definitely needs the interior protection in order to get that extra second in the pocket.
I think Fiske could turn out to be a solid pass rusher too, but not sure how long he lasts. Ruke Orhorhoro could be a good one too
Let us say the Bills get Johnny Newton… we’d be well advised to get a stud IOL such as JPJ, Haynes, or Beebe. Plus, if we end up facing the Chefs* in the playoffs, we’ll need a STOUT IOL when facing Chris Jones.
Atlanta is not stuck with Cousins long term. They can move on after 2025 season giving the new guy 2 years to get up to speed with the NFL. Falcons would take a big dead cap hit but will clear anywhere from 22.2 mill (pre 6/1 release) or clear 35 mill (post 6/1 release) of 2026 cap space with a release all the way up to clearing 45mil of cap space with a post 6/1 trade.
A team could trade for Cousins after 2 years and only have to pay him 35 mil per year. Also, with a 2026 pre 6/1 trade, the Falcons would only have 25 mil in dead cap and clear 32.5 mill in cap that year.
They did a smart contract considering it being big QB money. They put 10 mill in roster bonuses each of the last 2 years that will go away. They put themselves in position to be able to cut ties as early as 2 years if they feel the guy they drafted is ready.
It’s only a 4 year deal.
Mike E,
Yes, I too like Braden Fiske… not as much as “heeeeere’s JOHNNY (Newton)!”, but he’s pretty darn good in his own right.
I’ve GOT to go IOL next if I’m Chris Grier. As much as I’d LOVE to add Newton, it’s wiser to protect the Tua and to establish running lanes for Mostert and Achane.
This, after having already drafted Chop Robinson.
I agree, and I think that’s what we’ll do
BBL… no later than 7:00 PM/EST!
anyone have any thoughts on Dominick Puni from Kansas
he is a zone blocking OG and might be a good for for us
I think he’s too Puni to play in the NFL
did you just make a pun…..eh…..i
I think these 8 could be the Bills pick at #33 in this order:
Cooper DeJean CB Iowa
Kool-Aid McKinstry CB Alabama
Tyler Nubin S Minnesota
Adonai Mitchell WR Texas
JPJ OC Oregon
Keon Coleman WR Florida State
Johnny Newton DT Illinois
Ladd McConkey WR Georgia
If Grier trades up, I think it should only be for JPJ or DeJean.
I agree with that
I would consider Newton possibly in that conversation
Pili and Puni wouldn’t that be special
The Bills in moving down 4 spots in the 1st from #28 to #32 with the Chiefs gained no extra picks.
Bills traded 28, 133, and 248 for picks 32, 95 and 221.
In essence, they swapped a late 4th for a late 3rd and swapped a late 7th for the first pick in the 7th.
They also didn’t gain any extra pick in trading down another spot with the Panthers. The Bills traded 32 and 200 for picks 33 and 141.
On this one they swapped a late mid 6th for an early 5th.
The second one was a decent move but the first trade, WTF? On top of helping your conference rival to get their guy.
That tells us why we didn’t accept any trade down offers.
I have no idea what position we select in the 2nd. The only offense is likely OL. Other than that I think it’s probably defense.
it’ll be BPA let the board decide or maybe they jump up for a guy
Howard Stern used to proverbially suck Trump’s ass back in the day, when Howard was the biggest thing (mid 90’s). He begged him to come on then [slurped] him when he did go on. I listened daily I remember.
Lots of people in show biz were like that towards him back in the day. He became Hitler and racist once he was the front runner for the Republican Party.
I get a kick out of my neighbor says oh I hate Trump I always have. I said oh yeah really I wonder why. I said btw what’s the name of his famous book?
I dunno 🤒
was it Make America Great Again?
no that’s a campaign slogan
He just knows what he taught it’s sad
We live in a time where Americans protest with signs that say queers for Palestine. That’s like cows protesting with signs supporting McDonald’s. 🤣
Son,
You still listen to AM radio during the week or no?
Every day
Same
Who @ noon now that RL has passed?
I listen to the replacements
you could do drinking game with every time Clay says he has three boys lol
I like Buck
I used to listen to a lot of sports radio but it’s horrible I never listen to it anymore. For like 3-4 years now.
Same here. Sports radio just get on my last nerve anymore. WAY too much BS.
a lot of the guys who were good on ESPN radio in the day are now prominent on regular news TV and radio.
son of a son of a shula

Same again! Clay can get on my nerves at times, but I like Buck as well. Buck came up under Glenn Beck if ya didn’t already know.
yeah and he also filled in on the Golden EIB microphone
Yessir, he had! And I miss our old friend Mark Stein who used to fill in behind the golden EIB mic.
Sorry, that’s Mark Steyn. He follows me on X.
Yes he did, I like Mark Steyn 👍
I like Bongino as well, but not so much on the radio… he just goes off on tangents too often. He’s great on TV where he needs to be concise and not just fill 3 hours of radio.
I listen to Clay and Buck daily as a result.
Bongino takes FOREVER to get to a point I can’t take it. He’s better on TV shots for just a few minutes.
TOO RIGHT!!!
Alright back to football
I bet our next pick is someone no one has mentioned 🫲
LOL, I was just going to say both! 😆
pick #55 is amazing
now we can’t say no one mentioned the pick
We have to remember scheme fits and the vision for a player. Like you said it might be OL or DL but not the names being thrown around.
I do think Weaver is excited about what he can do with Chop. Attack the backfield from different spots. Most likely Edge early on because of need.
I DO feel confident that we’re going to land a very good player in the 2nd round this evening, whoever it may be.
They are talking about SF trading but deebo and Aiyuk which is just wild to me…..why?
money
I just try to remember who they brought in on visits. They could lean that way if one of them is there when we pick.
Also, there were about 15 players brought in on visits who are projected UDFA. I am sure some of them will be scooped up as soon as the draft is over.
I won’t be surprised if the Bills take JPJ to replace Mitch Morse.
Let us hope NOT.
If we get a DB or WR run early here in the 2nd round, the BETTER for us.
Keon Coleman is no Stefon Diggs.
he’s a physical receiver but they need speed for Josh Allen IMO
YUP!
Jalen Ramsey is going to make that rookie’s life misery
in;ess they loved him, it’s wild that they traded down twice, missed out on 3 WRs, and then took a WR
McConkey is the new Keenen Allen?
that guys voice was cracking more than Peter Brady in Hawaii
😆
”when it’s time to change!”
ATL trading up
Ruke Orhorhoro off the board before Johnny!
he butchered his name
it’s Luke Ohroooorooorwoooooowoowooooooooooooooooooooo
I have no shot at pronouncing that name
just bark
😂
the guys at nfl network had those scooby doo jokes ready to go
it’s basically
O-Row-Row-Row
listen with sound
good write up Mike- thanks for the shout out!
You got it Bri!
can’t believe Luke went before Newton
I think we are going to make a move
FUCK!
man, Darell Green looks great for his age
Looks like it’s time for a run on DL
Kris Jenkins, Fiske and Dorlus probably going soon too
some of them will be drafted too high. Gotta stick to our board. I hope they trade up a bit . Maybe into the 40’s
I find it hard to believe if they pick, Titans won’t take a center
Keep the WRs going off the board!
that’s what I’m rooting for too
and take a RB or 2 already
saban is a really good analyst
FACT!
shouldn’t warren moon announce the pick for the Texans
Good! Maybe the Titans just got Albert Haynesworth part deux!
I guess dwi doesn’t matter when you are 350 pounds
okay Dolphins….let’s get up there
DT’s are flying. Not sure we are going to get one if we sit at 55
that’s okay – we want OL anyway….
I want to jump up for JPJ
The value is going to be there for us @ IOL… coupled with need. Let us hope the WRs keep coming off the board and a fresh run on CBs.
Uhh, there goes Braden Fiske to the Rams
there goes another
And I’m not sold on Kris Jenkins.
We’re going O-Line, methinks!
mehopes
but really just want the best player
The run on O-line will start real soon
agreed
hopefully in about 15 picks….lol
this shit takes too long
They need to get off the pot
ready these trade comps – we really don’t have the ammo to move up
There’s the Eaglets* replacement for Kevin Byard.
Fuck the Eagles
Bite me
if some drafts a guy named Fanta I’m gonna stop watching
The Saints just drank the Kool-Aid
The run on CBs has begun! This is GOOD!
how much is it to move up 13 picks in the 2nd?
Only as much as a team is willing to receive.
130
I hope everyone is taking corners, linebackers and receivers
And more DTs!
is JPJ still available?
YUP!
And the run on CBs continues!
Kool-Aid : hey elementary teacher how did I do on my project?
Teacher: you did great Kool-Aid except for one thing.
K-A : oh yeah what was that?
Teacher: you’re forgetting to put the dash between Kool and Aid and it makes it very difficult for me to properly read your name.
K-A: What?
Teacher: that’s ok most of your classmates are omitting the apostrophe their parents burdened them with. We’ll work on it together
Johnny (Jer’Zahn) we will talk after class.
LOL
lol
a lot of people think Melton will be very good
As always great write up Mike. So far so good. I just want the phins to beat the bills at least once this year.
Thanks Boulder!
NOOOOOO!!!
JPJ is now a Raider
fuck
boooooooooooooo
Mr. Spikes; I’m sure you remember the other day when I predicted the Dolphins WOULD NOT take an offensive lineman early in this draft. Well, if we DON”T take one in our next pick, we’ll have to wait until DAY THREE of this draft to plug up our greatest need.
This Miami FO has consistently refused to draft fresh young talent for the O-Line. And, apparently, Steve Ross is OK with that.
O-Line problems nearly ended Tua’s career in his first year.
Last season, again, Ross’s FO failed to draft a single offensive lineman! So we were forced to throw mostly short, quick, passes to overcome Miami’s below average O-Line, which was often unable to adequately protect our #1 quarterback.
See ya in a couple of weeks OD, my son is moving back to Tampa🤪
If we don’t select an O-Lineman with our next pick, I believe we’re in DEEP trouble, Mr. Campbell.
fuck I knee after posting I jinxed it
like we said Mike, the run on CBs would start soon
okay. We can sit at 55 now
Zack Frazier still there
so is the BYU OT and Beebe and Puni
Christian Haynes?
I like what I’ve heard from him
him too
Well, that sucks! Hey, we still have Aaron Brewer! 😬
Raiders trying to ruin our offseason
I’m ALL-IN on Christian Haynes or Cooper Beebe right now. Trade up, if we must.
These idiot fans have no clue who their team just picked, but acted like they love it
NY Giants and Cleveland Browns could be looking for OG/C
Yale OL is still there no?
yes. It would be a surprise to see him go before is imo
Yes, Kiran is still available. Just remember he wasn’t even healthy enough to do drills at his Pro Day.
3rd rounder to me.
And I hate eagles fans. Jesus!
^^^^^
Those numb nuts were so obnoxious in Vegas
shit I wanted Edgerrin Cooper.
A RB has now gone off the board… good… GOOD!
cool an RB Panthers
if we want OL it will be there for us
Philly fans in general suck Randy
Panthers having a very good draft
9 more picks and the draft will be over for the night
Yale OT
BYU OT
Norte dame OT
Beebe
Haynes
Puni
Frazier
yes – I didn’t want to spell the names of the OTs….
A lot is left
fyi I mean Blake Fisher not Joe Alt…..
Was wondering why you couldn’t spell Alt😜
honestly Fisher ain’t so tough either…
Fisher has played RT except for one game … I don’t think he’s on our radar (coming from an Irish fanatic) …
Maybe not, but with that 8:19 post I just don’t know 😁
and o for to to say – Patrick Paul too
IF Christian Haynes and Cooper Beebe are already off the board when we pick in the 2nd round, I won’t be upset if we go with Kiran Amegadjie, T, Yale. Just remember, he’s not yet healthy.
If we need to over-reach for an O-Lineman, he may be worth it. Hope it doesn’t come down to it though.
have you looked into Puni? He seems like a good scheme fit for us
I don’t like Puni. JMO
He’d be ideal to land in the 3rd round, if we can recoup our lost 3rd rounder.
This ^^
No I meant that to go with the original post.
Shit I wanted Tyler Nubin.
I wish we could pick 5 at a time.
Not all the teams, just us.
