Miami Dolphins 2024 Season Schedule

OK Dolphins fans, the schedule is out, so now we know who we’re playing, when we’re playing them, and most importantly, where we’re playing them. We start off the season with 2 home games in a row, but neither of those games give us a real heat advantage. Our home opener is against another FLA team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, so they’re nearly as accustomed to the heat as our team is. We then play the Bills on Thursday Night Football, which not only gives us a short week, but the heat advantage is nullified by the 8:20PM start, because the sun won’t be baking the Bills players all game long. The Jaguars drafted LSU WR Brian Thomas is RD1 and he should help QB Trevor Lawrence, who no longer has WR Calvin Ridley, so Brian Thomas, veteran WR Christian Kirk, along with TE Evan Engram, and newly acquired former Bills WR Gabe Davis round out the receiving corps.

The Bills, appear to have taken a step back, but as you know, I strongly feel that as long as Josh Allen is their QB, we’ll always have a difficult time taking them down. The Bills traded back a couple of times and made their first selection in RD2 taking Florida State WR Keon Coleman. who gives Allen a big target with excellent 50/50 ball skills. He makes those difficult catches, but we’ll have to see how quickly he can be assimilated into the offense. The Bills also added former Dolphins WR Chase Claypool. We know this is going to be a tough matchup, especially if our star OLB’s are missing, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, and we’re forced to rely on rookies Chop Robinson and Mo Kamara, along with veteran LB Shaq Barrett.

Our first road trip will be a long one, all the way to the farthest state in the contiguous United States, Washington, the farthest NW state, to face the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks selected my favorite DL in this draft, Byron Murphy from Texas at #16 in RD1. Later on they picked up Connecticut OG Christian Haynes, who many here liked as well. The Seahawks will bring back QB Geno Smith as their starter, along with veteran WR’s D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. The Seahawks were 9-8 last season, so I’d hope we can make the best of that long road trip.

When we return home to Florida, we’ll host the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football for a rematch. If you’re a Dolphins fan, you couldn’t possibly forget the the last minute upset victory by QB Will Levis and RB Derrick Henry. The Dolphins led 27-13 in the 4th QTR, but the Titans got 2 unanswered TD’s, one a TD pass from Will Levis to WR DeAndre Hopkins, and then after the Dolphins drive stalled and we punted, QB Will Levis found WR DeAndre Hopkins on a deep pass for 36 yards from the TEN 36, which then led to a Derrick Henry 3 yard plunge to take the lead 28-27, leaving the Dolphins 1 minute and 49 seconds to win the game. The drive started at the MIA 26, and the Dolphins managed one first down before losing the ball on downs, a 4th and 2 sack of Tua by Harold Landry, and that was that. A brutal collapse that I’m sure our boys would love to avenge!

Our next game is a road trip to the Northeast, to face our division rival New England Patriots. We’ve been doing well against the Pats the last 3 years and have 5-1 record against the Brady-less squad. The Patriots drafted what they hope is their franchise QB taking North Carolina QB Drake Maye at #3 in RD1. It’s entirely possible veteran QB Jacoby Brissett is under center but the Patriots may elect to begin the future for Maye sooner. Playing in Foxborough in October won’t be a weather disadvantage for us, so hopefully we can come away with another road victory.

We’ll have an early BYE week this season, and that will be Week 6. I’d always prefer a later BYE, but if our 2 OLB’s are still OUT at this juncture, I’d say their return could be the following week. We come out of our BYE Week and travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. Colts starting QB Anthony Richardson, drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft #4 overall in RD1, was injured last season, but will be the starter once again this season. Richardson looked promising last season before the injury (Shoulder). The Colts have feature back RB Jonathan Taylor and in addition to WR Michael Pittman, the Colts drafted WR Adonai Mitchell from Texas in RD 2. It was, however their first pick at #15, when they selected pass rusher Laiatu Latu from UCLA that made Dolphins fans groan. Both of those players should make an impact for the Colts this season, and this will be no walk in the park.

Week 8 will bring us to this year’s Fest Game, as we host the Arizona Cardinals at Hard Rock, Sunday October 27th, just a scant few days before our own Herd’s birthday! The Cardinals suffered a rough 4-13 record last year. Their first draft pick should help QB Kyler Murray, who missed 8 games last season, and was pretty awful when he played. The Cards selected potentially the most NFL ready WR in the draft, and perhaps the best WR, in Ohio St. WR Marvin Harrison Jr at #4 in RD1. The Cards later added big DL Darius Robinson from Missouri. I would hope we can handle the Cards, and make it a wonderful birthday weekend for Herd!

We head back on the road to a place that has not been kind to us. The weather shouldn’t be a huge factor in Buffalo in early November, but Orchard Park is a little bit of a house of horrors for our Dolphins. We haven’t won there since 2016, and that was an OT affair, in which not Ryan Tannehill, but backup Matt Moore engineered the victory. I would love nothing more for our Dolphins to end the damn curse there, but we need to be healthy, and we’ll need to be physical. Tall task of course, but this is the 3rd season for HC Mike McDaniel, and I hope he can find the right gameplan to take the Bills down in their house. That would be a huge victory for our team.

We travel to California for yet another Monday Night affair, as we face off against the NFC’s Los Angeles Rams. The Rams, led by QB Matt Stafford had a nice finish last season making the playoffs, only to lose a tough matchup against the Detroit Lions, and their former QB Jared Goff, he of $212M contract fame. The Rams drafted 2 very good defensive players in the 2024 NFL Draft, first beginning with Florida St. pass rusher Jared Verse. The Rams then doubled down and took Florida St. DT Braden Fiske, both players favorites here. The Rams have big WR Puka Nacua who had 105 receptions last year for an astounding 1486 yards. The Rams feature a RB by committee approach with RB’s Kyren Williams, Blake Corum and Ronnie Rivers, and gone is RB Darrell Henderson. Stafford throws a lot, and the rookies will add some pop to their defense.

In Week 11, we return home to host the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders moved on from oft injured QB Jimmy Garropolo and signed veteran backup QB Gardner Minshew III. The Raiders tried to improve the offense by drafting the best TE available in the 2024 NFL Draft, TE Brock Bowers, and then following that up with a very good OC prospect we all know here, JPJ Jackson Powers-Johnson. RB Zamir White gets his chance to shine as heads the RB room. Veteran WR Davante Adams still brings it every game, along with Jakobi Meyers. The Raiders had a tough season last year, we’ll see how well Gardner Minshew fares as the starter.

In Week 12, we host the Patriots for our 2nd meeting of the season. Hopefully being home for 2 consecutive weeks has this team rested and ready to go because we need to beat the Patriots as we begin the difficult part of our schedule. I’d imagine Drake Maye will playing by then, that’s if he doesn’t start the season from the get go. Hopefully, our defense is humming along at full strength, with Phillips and Chubb back in the groove, and we give him more than he can handle.

Week 13 is where the most challenging part of the schedule starts. We fly to Wisconsin for a Thanksgiving Evening matchup in the cold climes of Green Bay to face the Packers. The Packers, despite a middling record of 9-8 managed to whip the Dallas Cowboys 48-32, and QB Jordan Love made it look easy. Love threw 3 TD’s, and no INT’sand RB Aaron Jones added 118 yards on the ground. The Packers lost the 49ers in a very competitive 24-21 loss. The Packers signed FA RB Josh Jacobs, and will pair him A.J. Dillon, as they finally parted ways with RB Aaron Jones. The Packers feature 3 young WR’s, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed. Obviously, the weather could be a big factor here, we don’t play well on the road when it’s cold, that’s been heavily documented. We need to somehow find a way to overcome that, or don’t expect to see this team go any further than we did last season.

We come home in Week 14 to host our division rival NY Jets for the first time in ’24, a 1PM, but it’s December 8th, so the heat won’t be a factor unless South Florida has some crazy heat wave. The Jets had horrendous O-line play, and they did what they could to remedy that by drafting Penn State OT Olu Fashanu, much loved here on FMU, especially by PSU fans Brian in NY and M13. The Jets also made a big Free Agency acquisition, taking WR Mike Williams from the LA Chargers. In addition, in RD 3 they drafted their slot WR Malachi Corley from Western Kentucky. To help bolster the O-line, the Jets also signed former Cowboys OT Tyron Smith, and OG John Simpson from the Ravens. Of course, Aaron Rodgers should be back as well, so the Jets will no longer be an easy task in ’24, as long as he stays healthy. WR Garrett Wilson will no doubt benefit from having Mike Williams on the other side.

In Week 15, we travel to Texas to take on the Houston Texans. The upstart Texans had a very successful 2023 season. Their young QB who they drafted #2 in the ’23 NFL Draft played like a pro right out of the gate. He had an excellent season, even winning their first playoff matchup against the Cleveland Browns in impressive fashion, 45-14, in which Stroud threw 3 TD’s and finished with a 157.2 rating, nearly perfect. The Texans didn’t waste any time improving the roster, picking up WR Stefon Diggs from the Bills. Add Diggs to the already talented young WR corps of Nico Collins and Tank Dell, and that offense will be tough to stop.

Week 16 brings the San Francisco 49ers to Miami for a late Sunday Kickoff at 4:25PM. No doubt, Dar and Toba will do their best to attend, or should I say Dar will do her best to drag Doug to FLA to see her beloved Niners. Any way you slice it, this is a very trying task for our team. The Niners who of course lost a close matchup with the SB Champion Chiefs are an excellent team. The Niners drafted slot WR Ricky Pearsall from Florida with the 31st pick in RD1. Later, they also added RB Isaac Guerrendo, a fan favorite here for sure. The Niners defense is tremendous, and QB Brock Purdy will be in his 3rd season in this offense. Tough job here, but maybe the home crowd can get us a win!

Week 17 will have us back on the road after a rough matchup with the Niners. We travel to yet another cold weather destination, Cleveland to face the Browns. The Browns had all kinds of QB troubles last season. DeShaun Watson played in only 6 games, and veteran QB Joe Flacco gave Cleveland a nice temporary jolt, but ultimately they got wiped by the young Houston Texans in the playoffs, 45-14. Joe Flacco is no longer a Brown, but they have quite the interesting QB room with Watson, Jameis Winston, and former Ravens backup Tyler Huntley. The Browns feature the WR trio of Amari Cooper, former Broncos Wr Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore, former Jets WR. TE David Njoku still toils the seam there. They have one of the most productive run games in the NFL with RB Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford. They have an excellent O-line as well, and a solid defense. I can only hope our team is healthy at this point of the season, and we prove we can win a cold weather game on the road.

The Week 18, Season Finale will have us traveling to my area, New Jersey to face the NY Jets, which could be for the Division Crown! The game has not yet been given an actual date, it can potentially be flexed, but some time that weekend of January 4-6, we’ll be playing the Jets. As stated before, if Aaron Rodgers is the QB, they’re a considerably better opponent than we faced with QB Zach Wilson under center, and he’s now in Denver, behind rookie QB Bo Nix. By this point last season, our defense was a shell of what it started as, too many injuries to the D-line and mostly OLB’s to mention here. It was absurd. We must be in better condition and we have to do better managing that. Whether it’s the Jets we’re competing with for the crown, or the Bills, this will obviously be a huge game either way. We know we have folded too many times at the end of the season, time to fucking turn that around!

Surprised we haven’t signed any of our draft picks. Only the top 2 and maybe Wright will affect the top 51 in cap. The bottom 4 won’t.

Their cap hit will basically need to be over 1.1 mil to affect the top 51.

Some teams have signed all their draft picks.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We usually sign some of these later picks early, wonder what the holdup us?

Not that anyone other than the draftees themselves cares, until camp starts

Not a big deal. They’ll all get signed by TC.

How quickly people forget, before last year Allen lost about 8 straight 1 score games

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

He shows up at crunch time, the end of the season. He smote us to steal the division. He’s like a player cruising along and then burying the opponent in the 4th quarter of an NBA game. He willed that team to win the division while we were slipsliding away

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

He didn’t earlier in his career and my point

Allen took off once Diggs arrived, Tua did once Hill did statwise

        Diggs is gone…

  3. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You want to know why we had only one possible Fest game to choose from this year? Taylor Swift did it.

    ——————-

The NFL has reportedly admitted that the Taylor Swift concert scheduled to take place at Hard Rock Stadium from October 18-20 was a factor in how the Dolphins’ schedule was put together.

The reason that is particularly relevant is that date falls in an absolute chasm between the Dolphins’ third and fourth home games of the season.  The Dolphins play the Tennessee Titans at home on Monday Night football on September 30.  They host the Arizona Cardinals on October 27.  Their next home game isn’t until November 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

That means that, between their matchups with the Titans and Raiders, the team plays just one game at home.  That’s a 48-day stretch.  Miami has its bye week during Week 6 as part of that period.  That all translates to just one home game for the month of October.

  4. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I think Tua will get around a 5yr 250 mil contract with 140 mil guaranteed. Many of the contracts QB’s have been getting lately have about 55% of it in guaranteed money.

    They could give a 70 signing bonus in increments of 10, 15, 15, 15, 15.

2024 15 mil base, 10 mil signing bonus, 25 mil cap hit

2025 25 mil base, 15 mil signing bonus, 5 mil roster bonus, 45 mil cap hit

2026 30 mil base, 15 mil signing bonus, 10 mil roster bonus, 55 mil cap hit

2027 out clause leaving only 30 mil in dead cap over last 2 years.

2027 30 mil base, 15 mil signing bonus, 15 mil roster bonus, 60 mil cap hit

2028 30 mil base, 15 mil singing bonus, 20 mil roster bonus, 65 mil cap hit

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Only problem is they will have to clear, at least, about 80 mil in cap next year to make things work.

If Tua makes about 45 mil next year and a Franchise tag on Holland will be around 18 mil, that 63 mil or more in the negative next year.

Post 6/1 release on Chubb will get about 20.2 mil of it. Post 6/1 release on Armstead will clear another 14.3.

I think Holland will walk in FA because they have fucked our cap up that much.

Tua and Holland are not the only FA needing replaced with no money to do it.

We have 8-9 potential starters who will be free agents in 2025 and our 2025 cap is at ZERO.

they are going to have one of those seasons…

Tough end to the Knicks season. I think even if Brunson was healthy in that 4th quarter, the Pacers weren’t going to give it up. They nearly had 4 guys with 20 points, but did have players in double figures. They had waaay too much depth, they kept putting fresh guys in every couple of minutes and they were all scoring.

  9. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Stanger,

Just so you understand, I’ve not yet formally committed to attending the Fest: I’ll have to move some mountains to make it, but it looks better than ever this year. Not saying I’m out, but I cannot confirm that I can make it at the moment.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You have a couple months to figure it out M13. There will reach a point where you have to decide in or out though.

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I said this the other day, lots of teams have talent. It really is about the battle of attrition. OL and interior DL might be a question but other than that I think we’re stocked. I said 11 wins last year I’m going with 12 this year. I think we’re going to out score a lot of opponents. No idea how it will go in the playoffs but I do think we’ll make it and be in the mix.🙂

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

JMO, but it’s too early to make a call on final records right now. You may change your tune if Jalen Ramsey gets knocked out for 1/2 the season again on the first day of camp… or you may change your tune if we end up making some kind of blockbuster deal for say… IDK… Micah Parsons, just for example.

Plenty of time until we get a clear picture of what this roster may look like to begin the season.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Hmmm… of course you don’t want to lose Ramsey, but I don’t see us trading for Parsons. I’m not worried about the edge as much right now.🙂

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I used Parsons just as an example, being I know you and I were HUGE on him in the Draft!

Alright, let us say we make a blockbuster deal for an elite IOL or DT? You know what I mean, Bro! 😉

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And like I said, I wouldn’t make a prediction now until we know what we’re going into the season with. Who knows, maybe ‘Reek gets into trouble again and we lose him for the season. I sure hope NOT(!), but I’d hold off on predictions until the preseason is about us.

  11. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

This is geo-political (not American political: reps vs dems or cons vs libs): Iran’s president and their foreign minister may be dead after a helicopter crash earlier today in northern Iran. Needless to say, blame will likely be cast on the West (Israel and the US), even if it wasn’t sabatoge.

NOT GOOD. Nothing good can come of this accident.

  12. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I thought we drafted Micah Parsons at #21. lol

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      Let’s hope so!

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Robinson was good, but he’s nowhere near where Parsons was when they came out. Parsons was one of the biggest can’t- miss prospects in a long time. I think I said when he was drafted that he would be the NFL rookie defensive POY

  13. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Remember, there will be surprise cuts coming… including from our own roster. First, the cutdown from a 90-man roster. Our scouting department will likely bring in a few surprise cuts from other teams (UDFAs) who they had their eyes on, but couldn’t get in the flurry post-Draft. This includes cuts to late-round Draft picks from other teams.

Then… as the cuts come down to a team’s final-53, we’re going to see some bigger names hit FA. New HC’s of other teams may not like the fit of a former stud in their new systems.

It may be wise not to blow our load as soon as June 1st passes, but if ya know what ya want and it’s available, early birds get the worms. Delicate dance, to be sure.

  14. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It looks to me like Anthony Weaver wants more physical players on defense. We shall see.

Spotrac’s projected QB extensions based on calculated market value:

    #Cowboys Dak Prescott: 4-years, $203M ($50.8M APY)

    #Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa: 4-years, $198M ($49.6M APY)

    #Packers Jordan Love: 4-years, $191M ($47.8M APY)

    #Jaguars Trevor Lawrence: 6-years, $278M ($46.4M APY)

  18. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    in terms of surprise cuts

my guess is guys like Braxton Berrios, Jeff Wilson Jr, nick Needham or Kader Kahou are possibilities

I wouldn’t want to cut most of those guys

but surprise cuts are always tough choices

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t think Kader gets cut. Berrios might if the Washington’s show up well, but Berrios is a return guy too, which I think is why we brought him back.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think Kahou is pretty valuable

but sometimes as rosters bring in new talent / you see good players like him get cut

I’m just trying to look at guys that are quality players but not exactly locks

  19. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know if I’m crazy but if I was the packers or even the jaguars I would probably try my best to hold off another year before extending those guys

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

overall, his career was pretty disappointing. With his type of game, you would have thought his career would have lasted longer, and had more production. Injuries didn’t help.

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim – How about the Dallas game that we won, we needed 5 Jason Sanders FG’s to win by one point. You and Sonny can make all the excuses you want, he doesn’t lift the team when we need him. The Bills game, the Chiefs game, we can’t score more than 14 points at home against Buffalo? It was cold as fuck in KC, but that game was in KC because we choked the division away. Is it ALL Tua’s fault, of course not, but we’re going to pay him like he’s a top QB, and in December, when you fight for conference seeding, he’s either out injured, or he doesn’t play well enough to keep a division lead on Buffalo. You and Sonny both, find me the game he threw 3 or 4 TD’s but the defense was so bad because of the injuries. I’ll save you the time, it doesn’t exist. You want to ignore the fact that he played small, that’s fine, but I know better and will continue to point it out.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

How did we get into position to kick 5 FGs? Didn’t Tua throw for like 300 yards in that game?

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Yes, she made a couple throws on the game-winning Drive against Dallas at home, but most of the yards on that drive were by the run

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was digging a little further in. If you look at the games where we cruised, his bad throw % was around 10% give or take a few points either way. In the Dallas game, which we won, it was 30.6%, the worst of the season. The Buffalo game in the season finale, it was 18.5%. The Ravens 22.5%. The KC game during the regular season, 29.4%. The Chiefs playoff game, 26.3%. He just hasn’t performed well in big games, regardless of what the defense is doing, he doesn’t make the team better when it counts. Will he ever? My guess is as good as yours.

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

anybody who denies that he hasn’t played well in big games, well I don’t know what to say to that. I think sometimes when those of us criticize his playing big games it’s seen as us not saying he’s a good quarterback. He is a good quarterback he’s just not a great quarterback. Hopefully he can get there. I like to I’d love to see him take that next step, but until he does, the knock on him are going to be true

  35. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I’m not saying, we can do any better without Tua , and bringing in or drafting in another quarterback. I think he’s a very good quarterback. But I don’t know if he’s the type of quarterback to take us to that next level. To Mike’s point that he’s made once or 1 million times, he really hasn’t stepped up when he needed to. There were other factors injuries the defense players dropping passes, etc. But every team has that. The fact of the matter is this league for better or worse, is built around the quarterback. If you do not have an elite quarterback, you’re not wanting a Super Bowl and that’s the reality.

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ken – Check that last post I typed. It was his worst game with a lot of bad throws. I remember we got lucky on quite a few errant throws that could have been picked. Watch the game again if you don’t believe me.

  37. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Brian – I’m here to keep it even keel, because there are plenty who deny it every single day here. You can’t get Tim, Ken, Sonny or Steve to admit that he doesn’t step up and play well in those big games. It’s always injuries and the defense. I don’t mind being the truth teller, it has to be done.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I’ve said over and over he needs to step up, but have offered solutions and observations too, instead of just putting stats to fit the narrative

We all know what he did at the end of the season and against good teams and it wasn’t good

Instead of thinking it’s all a bunch of excuses, look at it as why it happened and what can be done to fix it

Tua isn’t going anywhere, no reason to wait a year or 2 to re-sign him, no reason to talk about drafting some shitty replacement

  38. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

  44. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I think you can win a lot of games WITH Tua in the regular season. You just aren’t gonna win many BECAUSE of Tua. That’s the difference between a true franchise QB and JAGs. This has been Tua his whole career….going back to college. It’s nothing new. He’s been benched before because he couldn’t get it done.

You can evaluate a player regardless of what’s going on around him. Injuries. Dropped passes. Dropped INTs. Poor protection. Taking all those factors into account….which happens to every QB, Tua still hasn’t performed in certain situations. He hasn’t stepped up and been the reason we win in big games. To me, that’s just unacceptable for a QB in today’s game. That’s what they’re paid to do.

And, I don’t think this team would be a lot worse if Tua weren’t our QB. Frankly, I think they’d be pretty similar in terms of wins/losses. That scare tactic means nothing….and is a horrible reason to tie yourself to a guy. Hopefully, Tua will make us all eat our words and kick some ass this year! I’m okay with that.

Doesn’t change the fact that he threw for 300 yards, led them on six scoring drives and we won the game. If that was his worst game I will take that

yes – agree with Ken, since Marino

more importantly, I don’t think you part ways with your QB until there is a replacement

couple of years into the new contract and we can draft a QB if we don’t think Tua is the future

but Tua is the immediate future

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ken – I watched that game at my future in-laws and I recall him throwing into coverage and getting very lucky we came away without INT’s numerous times, thus the high percentage of bad throws. You are way overvaluing passing yards. I’d rather him throw for 3 TD’s per game and 100 less yards per game. Yards don’t get you scores, just yards.

  50. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Saying QB “X” is the best QB here since Marino just means he’s better than Tannehill, so not a very high bar. He’s in reality not even that much better than Tannehill.

  51. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ken – Led them on scoring drives is stretching the term scoring drive to ridiculous proportions. Try to keep it legit, for real.

    Jason Sanders 57 yard FG

    Jason Sanders 52 yard FG

    Jason Sanders 54 yard FG

    Jason Sanders 35 yard FG

    Jason Sanders 29 yard FG

Tyreek actually will get 24m on avg for 4 years on his current contract, in 2025 he’ll count 34m against the cap, with 11m dead left for 2026

We could re-sign him to the same 24m he’s been playing on for 2026, which would count as 35m against the cap or 24m per year for however many years and give him bonus money lowering his cap for 2026

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Achane lined up as a WR a lot last year in obvious passing downs, they’ll just put the best guys on the field, but with OBJ, Jonnu and Fortson we shouldn’t need an RB playing WR as much

What makes Hill different is his 40+ vertical

Couldn’t figure out why we selected Malik at first, short and not particularly fast, then I saw his vertical of 40+, he’s also a tough runner after the catch, but that vertical, for a short guy, is huge

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Thanks Steve. I was just wondering how they could lower next years as they will have to clear a ton of cap again with a new Tua contract. Also Holland. Then we have other key FA to replace/resign in LB Long and our 3 best OG’s in Wynn, Jones and Eich. Then we have a hole at safety to fill again unless Needham makes the jump there. Hopefully, with our draft capital next year we can land a good safety and OG.

  84. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The difference between scary and unstoppable is big play ability vs accuracy

In the playoffs and in big games, that scary O loses more accuracy, like the fast break Lakers in the 80s, once the playoffs came it was half court O much more often, teams like the slow Celtics were much better in the half court O, so they were better in playoffs

The scary O on any given play can score from anywhere on the field, the unstoppable one gets into situations they can succeed at with a high probability

Take the Eagles, they played slow and methodical just trying to get to 3rd or 4th down and short, then used the tush push to get a 1st down with high accuracy

We need to become more unstoppable

If the former Pro Bowl receiver, whom the Dolphins added a week after the draft with a one-year contract that features a $3 million base salary and is heavy on incentives, catches 55 passes for 800 yards and scores six touchdowns he will make a total of $8.8 million from this season.

If Beckham catches 36 passes in 2024 he will receive $400,000. If his reception total gets to 45 catches, he wull get another $800,000. If the 31-year-old receiver catches 55 passes he will receive an additional $1 million. So the magic number for Beckham receptions is 55, which will deliver an additional $2.2 million in bonuses. The former LSU standout has a similar tier system for receiving yards. He will receive a $400,000 bonus if he contributes 566 receiving yards. If he passes the 650-yard threshold he will receive another $800,000. And if Beckham gets to 800 receiving yards he will pocket an additional $1 million.

So the magic number for Beckham receiving yards is 800, which would net him another $2.2 million in bonuses. Beckham also has a $400,000 bonus that’s triggered if he scores four touchdowns in 2024, and he will get another $450,000 if he scores two more times, bringing his touchdown total to six on the season.

We definitely don’t need Renfrow or any other WR.

And I’m not sure we need an old Safety either.

Well, we signed another safety older than Simmons. But, he is going to want too much money. He is probably looking for that last big payday and that is why he is still unsigned.

    Guys

    Regarding the Bills

My point is really about matchups: specifically our WR group vs their DBs
There isn’t a legit debate on the personnel changes that were made this offseason

They fielded a very good secondary for years now and in 2024 they have a brand new group of unproven guys

The Bills are still very good up front defensively – although there are questions about Von Miller at this stage of his career and Matt Milanos health) and they have a good OL and one of the best QBs in football

But depleting your secondary given your strongest division opponent strength is at WR is a little bit questionable to me

I think that matchup favors us

…it’s okay to implement your own team guys…

  89. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

also I think for us – in terms of matchups, getting better on the edges defensively and utilizing heavy rotations is about trying to stop Josh Allen who often kills us on 3rd down by scrambling and finding guys open or just picking up the 1st down with his legs

I think yournoffseaons has to be about matchups to untie and beat your division foes or the foes that are giving you problem

the bills didn’t just part ways with their secondary

they traded down with the chiefs so that the chiefs can get their guy in the 1st

and they can’t beat the chiefs

I don’t know what that FO is doing

    Jahn!

Hey bud. We kept this place entertained for years, and I always enjoyed our exchanges. I miss your intelligence. Football isn’t that complicated but it’s always fun to debate how you win. I miss those days, actually.

So, are you really going to the Fest? Getting to debate you F2F may be enough to get me there. Lol

Piggy – You’re not wrong. The Bills secondary is compromised. Honestly, Dolphins twitter is poisoning my outlook of the team, our QB, and the rivalry with the Bills. We have fans that endlessly disrespect the Bills and especially Josh Allen, and I think it’s ridiculous, he OWNS us. On the other hand, I think our defense may be compromised as well. I have no idea if our D-line will be good enough, or if Shaq Barrett and Chop/Mo can buoy the defense until Chubb and Phillips get back.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know why people are bashing Josh Allen

that said, I think the attempts to move to a rotational type front 7 with a lot of good edge guys is the kind of stuff a good franchise does when they are trying to match up with their divisional foes

I don’t know if it works

but I know that it was done by design

could it be the move we need to stop Allen from creating on the run. If you pair more speed on our edges with less speed at wide out for the Bills – Allen making big plays to pick up the first appears to be less of a threat

On the other side of that coin, the Bills parting ways with their secondary with the Dolphins, 🐆 + 🐧 nipping at their heels is probably one of the most questionable front office moves I have seen

they came into the offseason with the same cap issues we have and handled much differently setting up a situation where they take a step back no matter how good Josh Allen is

We have question marks: does our OL hold up? Does Tua take another step forward? Is weaver the right guy for our D?

but getting the ball to Waddle and Hill is not a question mark for our team

it’s gonna be easier this year v the Bills just bc of the dramatic downgrade in talent in the Bills secondary

      I’m really just saying

forget about what happened last season

did we make the move to take a step further this season

      I say we did

did the bills. – hell no, they got worse
