The Miami Dolphins have added another piece that will help the secondary. Former NY Jets and New Orleans Safety Marcus Maye signed with the Dolphins earlier this week, but the contract details are still not yet available. Regardless of how long, and how much, Maye will no doubt be part of the rotation in the secondary as Anthony Weaver likes to use 3 safeties on the field at times. No doubt, that 3 man squad just got a lot better, as it looks like it will be Jevon Holland, Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye. Maye hasn’t been a full time starter since 2021 with the Jets, but he brings the skillset to be effective as a free safety type of player who can also play physical enough to be in the box. That’s exactly the type of flexibility Weaver needs in that 3 safety look. My guess is we carry at least 4 or 5 safeties, which will be an interesting battle for the final 1 or 2 spots.
Right now, Elijah Campbell, who’s spent 3 seasons with the Dolphins is right there vying for the last spot, and 2024 6th RD draft pick Patrick McMorris, and UDFA Mark Perry from TCU will also be in the running. The secondary, for the moment appears to once again be a strength for the Dolphins. Starting the season with a healthy CB Jalen Ramsey and CB Kendall Fuller opposite him is light years better than last year’s version of Xavien Howard with Eli Apple opposite him. Our safeties were hurting at different times during the season, Jevon Holland injured both knees towards the end of the season, DeShon Elliot was also banged up, and Brandon Jones who actually began the season as the starter also was dinged up. That was the story of our season, just so many injuries, and despite that, the defense managed to stay competitive.
It’s June 13th, and our QB Tua Tagovailoa still remains without the big contract extension. It’s clear (to me at least) that the Dolphins aren’t convinced 100% that Tua Tagovailoa is the QB to lead them to the Super Bowl or he’d have his extension already. Jared Goff recently set the benchmark as he signed a 4 YR/$212M contract with the Detroit Lions, with $170M guaranteed. The parameters are set, and if it were a no brainer, as many of you here feel it is, then it would be done. Yes, the Qb is the most important player on the field, no argument here, but is Tua Tagovailoa that QB? I think he might be, I think the kid has a great work ethic, he’s well liked by his teammates, and it’s clear he would do just about anything the team asked of him to improve his game. His injury history is scary, and not just in the NFL. He put on weight, maybe 15-20 lbs last season and took Jiu Jitsu classes in order to help him fall without sustaining an injury. This year though, he wants to improve his quickness, so he shed that weight.
There are lots of plusses for QB Tua Tagovailoa. As opposed to what some of you think is a “narrative” that Tua doesn’t play well at the end of the season, whether it’s a regular season game or a playoff, or just much less effective against better teams is not a narrative, it’s a reality. It’s like 2 different QB’s. If you don’t think the front office is aware of the disparity, you’re in denial. Passing yards are nice, but they don’t win championships. Playing well in big games, winning your division, beating the tough teams do. He hasn’t done those things, and despite the state of the defense, Tua himself did not elevate his play in those games, quite the opposite, there was a significant drop off in his play. He led the NFL in passing yards, and managed to play a full season and remain healthy enough to do so. Still, that was his 4th season, and he’s done it once.
To Tua’s credit, he began his career with a Head Coach (Brian Flores) who didn’t really like him, or maybe just believe in him. We had veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and it was clear Flores preferred and trusted Fitzmagic. When Tua did start, he wasn’t given the rope a veteran QB would be given, or to be fair, most QB’s should be given, and when he struggled, he was pulled. That’s tough on a young QB, but Tua persisted. He has 32-19 record, and if you can remember back 5 years ago, our offensive roster was not impressive. DeVante Parker, PrestonWilliams, Jakeem Grant, Isaiah Ford, Mack Hollins. Not awful, but Parker was always hurting, Williams was a flash in the pan, and other than Hollins who has actually improved his game, nothing to get excited about as a WR corps in general. We also haven’t hop a top tier TE here, although we hoped Mike Gesicki would be, he never really achieved that status.
Tua has proven he’s one of the most accurate QB’s in the league, and with a healthy Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, he can light up a defense. IN 2022, his year of multiple concussions, he was 7-3, until the dreaded west coast trip which precipitated 4 straight losses and then an injury (concussion) that ended his season. Tua was not available for the playoffs, or the playoff run at the end of the season, and either was Teddy Bridgewater. We relied on 3rd string QB Skylar Thompson, and we fought bravely against Buffalo and lost. Last season, another late season collapse, and yes, the defense was decimated, but the offense did nothing to make up for it, the NFL leading offense was reduced to less than mediocre. The QB that had completed 88% of his passes and threw for 5 TD’s in a game earlier in the season was nowhere to be found in those games. Against the Titans, 0 TD’s. Against the Cowboys, in a win by the way, 1 TD, and 3 FG’s of 53 + yards. Against the Ravens, 2 TD’s, 2 INT’s. Against the Bills, 1 TD, 2 INT’s. In the playoff game against the Chiefs, 1 TD, 1 INT. There’s no “narrative”, only facts. Tua has either been unable to finish the season healthy, or unable to finish the season playing well.
If you don’t think the things I outlined in the last paragraph are part of the internal discussions in the contract talks, you’re crazy. Yes, he beat the Baltimore Ravens in a wonderful comeback victory when the entire Ravens secondary was out in September and threw 6 TD’s. On the other side of the ledger, 2 seasons in a row played so poorly at the end of the season and in one season was injured and done, the other gave up a 3 game lead in the division and lost the season finale in OUR HOUSE for the division, no cold climate, warm as can be, and we melted in our home stadium. You need your QB to FINISH! The one QB who got his big contract that has done less than Tua is Justin Herbert. The Chargers clearly made a mistake. Don’t talk to me about Joe Burrow, he took his team to the Super Bowl, he’s a WINNER! A FINISHER! We’ll find out if HC Jim Harbaugh can resurrect Justin Herbert this season. I think it’s a difficult position, I think they want Tua to be the answer, but I also think they’re not 100% sold on whether he is, and I think that’s 100% fair.
First
Valid points MikeE.
I think I read where Maye has started every game he has played including the last 2 years. They were just shortened due to injuries.
It seems different here, made some home improvement?
Ok now after I refreshed the page am back to where I am use to seeing.
Nevermind 🙂
Hey Markey! Pretty much the same old thing, but WordPress likes to tinker with the format all the time. Good to see ya!
Nice to see you too….enjoy this lull because our Dolphis will make a serious run this year IMHO.
Markey – What are your thoughts on the Tua contract extension? Do you think we should give him a contract similar to Goff’s contract?
Yes pay the man! In fact I posted on my site after his first year under Mike McDaniel that Miami should extend him them before Burrow, Hurbert and Hurts as well as Lamar got their etentions……
lThe price is going up so by the time he gets paid and people start complaining (either way) the next QB will make his deal look better.
I agree with Tua, “The Market is The Market”
Name me a better Dolphins starting QB not named Marino than Tua? I do not get all this scrutiny of the guy he is the best QB for Mike’s system that plays to Tua’s strength.
I hate you can’t edit here…. 😦
MikeE., I haven’t looked at Goff’s contract yet but they could give Tua a contract similar to Herbert, 5 year , $262,500,000 contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, including $16,128,376 signing bonus, $218,738,376 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $52,500,000.
It all comes down to how it is paid. Yeah, he got 218,738,376 guaranteed but the money is not 100% guaranteed. It only becomes guaranteed if he is on the roster at the start of the new league year the year prior. So, right now, his salary is only guaranteed for 2025.
Over the first 3 years of Herbert’s contract his cap hit is only 2024 – 19.3mil, 2025 – 37.3mil and 2026 – 46.3mil. His average cap hit over those first 3 years is only 34.3mil.
They could actually release him after only 2 years into his contract (prior to 2026 new league year) and only have a 36.8 mil dead cap hit and not have to pay any of his remaining 120mil in guaranteed money.
Say we make the playoffs next 2 years in a row and go 1 and done both years. You want to blow it up and rebuild. This would allow you to do it.
With all the ways to maneuver around in contracts to protect the team, how did the Broncos fuck themselves so bad. lol
Yeah, I don’t like Goff’s contract they are at least suck with it through 2026 and his cap hit is 69.6mil in 2026. So they couldn’t release him and he has a full no trade clause. They are stuck because that is only year 2 on the extension and they gave him a huge signing bonus.
stuck not suck
lol
I would much rather Tua get a deal like Herbert’s than Goff’s.
IMO, Goff got the contract he got because the Lions are 100% he is their guy and he has shown he can win in the playoffs.
Herbert got the deal he got because the Chargers wanted to be able to get out of it if he doesn’t elevate his game after a couple more years.
Markey – I don’t look at our QB situation as he’s the best since Marino, I look at it as is he good enough to win it all, win playoff games, make a legitimate Super Bowl run. He hasn’t shown us that at all, in fact, he’s either been injured or wilted in those games that gave us an opportunity to win our division. If he can’t help us win our division, then I lump Tua in with the rest of the QB’s since Marino, and marginally better than the guy he replaced, Ryan Tannehill, who BTW won 2 more Playoff games than the exalted one, Tua.
Markey – Another huge part of the leverage for the Dolphins with Tua is he has a perfect situation for himself to succeed. McDaniel has built this system around Tua and Grier has provided him with top notch weapons to do so with. Why would he want to leave Miami and go somewhere else and end up in a worse situation and not nearly as good talent on offense?
Mike – Yeah, I could deal with a contract like Herbert’s where we have an out if we want one. If he’s not going to win with this team this season, then I don’t see him ever winning. Unless of course the O-line implodes, which is a possibility, although I think our depth should be sufficient.
Markey – Are you still writing articles on your blog?
Yes
That’s cool! I was going to ask you if you wanted to write some articles here. Just unilaterally thinking this place could use a more positive outlook on our team to offset my critical stance on the team. It’s funny, I hovered over your picture and saw the name of your site, and saw “Dolphin Homer: Accentuating the positive”, and thought I bet the folks around here would appreciate some of that.

Jets have signed defensive lineman Takk McKinley, a former first-round pick who joined the team for mandatory minicamp as a tryout player.
Wow, now they have 2 pass rushers we loved here, Takk and Reddick
Well not so fast about Reddick just yet
Ah, didn’t see Reddick is holding out. Temple tough on the Jets! LOL
Think about it, name another QB in Dolphins history that is better than Tua accept Marino? I remember how long it took us to find a decent replacement after Marino retired and now fans and some media don’t think he is worth being paid top dollar? Imagine had Miami had Mike McDaniel when we drafted Tua?
I expect another jump in growth for Tua this season. Pay the Man!!!!!
He’s had him for two seasons, and has come up either injured, or small at the end of both of them.
He is still jst 26 years old and have pleny of room to grow
The tampering Ross did was probably worse but I still think this is some bullshit.
———————–
The league determined the Falcons this offseason had impermissible communication with Kirk Cousins, Darnell Mooney, and Charlie Woerner during this year’s negotiating window, NFL Media reports.
Accordingly, the NFL stripped the Falcons of their 2025 fifth-round pick and assessed fines ($250,000 to the organization and $50,000 to GM Terry Fontenot).
———————
The league took away the Dolphins’ 2023 first-round pick and their 2024 third-round selection, and suspended Stephen Ross for two months after determining the club and its owner had improper contact with quarterback Tom Brady and the agent for coach Sean Payton.
——————-
Dolphins lose a 1st and a 3rd, Falcons lose a 5th. I call bullshit.
Agreed Mike! That there is some bullshit for sure
Put in another perspective:
For the Dolphins, that was a draft value of around 1040 points.
For the Falcons, that is a draft value around 32.8 points. Depending on how they finish the season, it could be a draft value as high as 37 points or as low as 23.8 points.
BS
Our 2023 draft first 3 rounds could have looked like this:
CB Joey Porter, Jr.
ILB Drew Sanders
RB Devon Achane
Instead of:
CB Cam Smith
RB Devon Achane
That freaking hurts the mock drafter in me when I look at it that way.
We could have saved the money spent on Fuller and Brooks to resign Wilkins.
Yes he’s making more than both combined but it we didn’t have so many holes to fill, who knows what could have happened.
Fucking Ross!
@AdamHBeasley
Those comparing the Dolphins and Falcons punishments should remember that the NFL found three separate incidents of tampering, including Steve Ross’ yacht meeting with Tom Brady. Apples and orange.
——————————-
Still, that much disparity is still bullshit Adam. Tampering is tampering.
and they were guilty of tampering with 3 people not just Cousins.

I have posted his stuff before. Maybe even this one.
He hasn’t put anything new out in since last summer.
Sorry Mike, just saw it, and it hit me right.
I know what you mean.
That’s some dumbass shit right there.
Maybe get some facts straight before you go off on some immature rant.
Rioting and looting are wrong every single time. I don’t know anybody but the scum criminals themselves who support property destruction and theft.
Protesting and expressing grievances and the right of the people to peacefully assemble to express their issues is in the Bill of Rights
Anyway, enough whining. Get to get ready for the annual scalloping trip next week. No lie, worried about the increase of bull shark encounters as we are about 1/4 mile offshore in the gulf snorkeling. Water is only 4′ to 7′ deep depending on where you are at and the tide but that is plenty for them.
Mentioned here before. I guess it was 2-3 seasons ago where a 17yo girl ended up losing her leg after a bull shark attack. She got attacked in the exact same area we go every year off Hagens Cove.
I do carry a pole spear but that will only help if you see them coming. Chances are you won’t as you are always looking down for scallops.
Mike titles the article about Marcus Maye then works his way into his favorite subject about whether or not Tua is the guy. You’re a sly one, Mr. Grinch. 😂
🤣
Tim – I feel like the Tua extension is always going to be the #1 story until it actually happens, don’t you?
It’s definitely a big story but I really don’t read any of the articles out there about it. It’s kind of boring. I really don’t know where the two sides are at. We’ll see what happens.
I listen to WQAM in Miami just about every morning, believe me, it’s the hot topic. Every guest they bring on, whether it’s Adam Beasley, Omar Kelly, Jeff Darlington, Alain Poupart, Mike Florio, or Brian Baldinger, they ask them their thoughts on the topic. It’s certainly not the only thing they discuss, but it’s the topic most consistently discussed.
Good to see you, Markeyh.

When you are posting something with multiple links, I get an email to approve it. I don’t know why, just how it is. I just approved 2 for mf13, but if we could avoid that, it would be awesome. I’m kind of busy right now with my job that pays, so any others are going to have to wait til later. 😁
Thank you, Herd!
And yes… I figured out how to get it through without posting multiple links. All good!
Mike E,
Very good write as always.
HOWEVER ( 🙂 ), as it pertains to Tua, you fail to mention how banged up our O-Line had been down the stretch… and not just last season. But as for last season, T-Stead missed 7 games, Wynn went out for the season after week 7, Connor Williams went out for the season during the dreaded Tennessee game, Robert Hunt missed 7 games, and next man up Eich looked shaky in many of his starts before looking average. Props to Austin Jackson for being the last man standing and for a fairly decent season to boot.
Not only did our injured O-Line let down Tua, they let down our running game… plus Achane missed 6 games due to injury and Mostert missed 2 games down the stretch due to injury.
THEN, there are the cases of ‘Reek Da Cheetah and Da Penguin. ‘Reek was so banged up down the stretch he missed a game, and while playing hurt he was taking himself in and out of plays he hurt so badly… he was playing at 50% down the stretch.
In the case of Waddle, he was banged up ALL SEASON long, starting with week 2 against the Patsies*. He missed week 3 and wasn’t 100% healthy the rest of the season. Then, he missed our last two regular season games (we lost both games, go figure, plus with a hampered ‘Reek).
We didn’t even have a legit pass-catching TE for the entire ’23 campaign, so there’s that as well.
All I’m sayin’… ALL I’M SAYIN’… is that one can’t saddle Tua with everything that occured, especially down the stretch, with our Offense. Does he need to share some of the blame? Absolutely, yes… and he’ll be the very first to admit as much. And that’s exactly why he’s going to be even BETTER this season.
I just feel as though Tua isn’t getting a very fair shake, all things considered. Then consider this: if ‘Reek didn’t get injured down the stretch, he probably surpasses 2K yards receiving, Tua surpasses 5K yards passing, and we wouldn’t even be having this discussion: Tua would have INSTANTLY received a new contract.
Again, can’t put it ALL on the Tua. I honestly don’t believe that even Mahomes could have done much better in light of all the problems/injuries we incurred… and he’s faced similar situations, but nowhere near the tune we faced last season. Plus, Mahomes has a future HOF HC in Andy Reid… we had a 2nd-year HC in Mike McDaniel. AND, we damn near beat the Chefs* in Frankfurt last season when we were far healthier, if not for the ‘Reek fumble that was returned for a TD!
Just something to think about… ALL of the above. 😉 🙂
By the way, I think you’ve illustrated properly just how banged up our Defense was last season! Yessir, we were banged up on BOTH sides of the football pretty badly last season.
SPRAY FOR THE INJURY BUG!!!
You would think just based on odds that we couldn’t possibly be as banged up as last year this season.
Yessir! One would certainly think so.
@SharpFootball
avg yards gained on opening drives:
55.9 – San Francisco 49ers
54.6 – Los Angeles Rams
50.9 – Miami Dolphins
47.8 – Philadelphia Eagles
44.4 – Baltimore Ravens
43.4 – Cincinnati Bengals
39.4 – Detroit Lions (10th)
32.0 – Kansas City Chiefs (19th)
30.4 – Buffalo Bills (23rd)
23.5 – New England Patriots (30th)
15.9 – New York Jets (32nd)
——————–
Didn’t copy and paste them all. The first 6 are the top 6. Many lesser teams like Colts, Bears, Broncos, Raiders, Chargers and Titans were all ahead of Chiefs and Bills.
SO, the only thing this tells me is it is not how you start but how you finish a game.
“…he’s a WINNER! A FINISHER!”
Mike E, when I saw that in your article above, I instantly thought of this song: one of my faves!!!
This was my battlecry for Matt Moore in the day: Do ya really want <STRIKE>more</STRIKE> Moore?!! HELL YEAH!!!
LOL, you’d SWEAR Usher wrote this song for Matt Moore back in the day!!!
Tua isn’t signed yet, because of guaranteed money
Fins want injury insurance Tua wants no part of that
I think that is where it is at as well.
100% concurred, guys.
Tua played in all 18 games last year so I don’t blame him. Other QBs got paid that have had injury issues. Burrow, Jackson, Murray, Cousins etc.
Tua’s agent is definitely going to point that out.
@OmarKelly
The Dolphins waived defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon to make a roster spot for safety Marcus Mayes, whose signing becomes official now.
Hmmmm?
———
@natronbacon
I dont always agree with Omar, but hes right on here. The punishment of lost picks was definitely for the tanking allegations the league wanted covered up. Thats why the Dolphins didnt appeal.
We won 5 of our last 9 games in 2019 including our last 2. That’s a pretty shitty tank job.
^
Trevor Lawrence five years $275 million? We are FUCKED with Tua’s contract
Probably, we will have to see how it breaks down though. Could be something similar to Herbert’s where they can get out of it with just a moderate hit to the cap after 2-3 years.
$142 million fully guaranteed, $200 million in guarantees
Until we have a QB as good as Tua what are really worried about? 2024 is the season we should be focused on as fans. Why is the cap down the road the biggest worry? We’re trying to win now!
We haven’t won a playoff game in over 20 years. We just made the playoffs two years in a row for the first time in over 20 years. Can we enjoy the ride? Yikes!
Can’t you just stress out and worry more Tim?
No stress at all, I forgot the lol emoji 😂
Calais Campbell welcome to Miami
Heck yeah
That’s great!!
Now enough about Wilkins, he’s a Raider
That’s a sign we’re building for 2025. 😂
Like this too 👍👍
Watching Panthers at the NO Name Sports Bar Sebastian😝
Paul Maurice OWNS the Oilers in Playoffs 👍👍
LOVE the Calais Campbell signing! Awesome!!
I kind of see Calais Campbell as a vet voice for the team but only a 15 snap per game type of guy. Maybe important snaps in the game.
true. Maybe more until the big guys get back .
I just realized Mo Kamara was from Colorado State. My accounting mgr’s son was a redshirt freshman last year with Mo. Both undersized DL/DE/LB, but Mo is hard hitter and great locker room guy. He was always helping the rook…I love that!
Calais Campbell probably played more snaps last season than any of the guys we picked up. He played 712 snaps last year, not sure why you think he’ll play less than half that with us. I know we’re doing a rotation, but I’d rather see him and Sieler get more snaps than the other guys.
I like the Campbell signing as well. He gives us the ability to give another look on defense especially while missing Phillips and Chubb, 3-4 or 3-3-5. He’s not a big DT at 282 pounds. I can see him in there on early downs when we used Seiler, Davis and Wilkins. It will be Benito Jones in the middle with Seiler and Campbell as the DE’s.
I like to use Ourlads.com depth chart. They actually have Teair Tart as the NT. I thought Benito Jones would be the nose as well
Not sure if someone said it already. Chop’s contract is 100% guaranteed.
Chop Robinson signed a 4 year , $14,976,228 contract with the Miami Dolphins, including $7,711,800 signing bonus, $14,976,228 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $3,744,057.
Is being 100% guaranteed unusual for rookie 1st rd picks?
No
👍
Current cap is at 16.5 million pending the contracts on Maye and Campbell.
Not sure what we are giving Maye. Saints paid him just over 7mil a year. Three of his 7 seasons were injury years in 2018, 2021 and 2023. I can’t see us giving him more than what we are giving Poyer and Neal in the 1.9 to 2mill range.
Campbell is a different story. He got 7mil from the Falcons last year. I think he is going to one of those guys where they sign him to 2-3 years to spread out a signing bonus so he has a low cap hit this season. Then they will void the remaining year(s) leaving a dead cap hit. I think it will be same scenario they did with Shaq Barrett and push dead money down the road.
Wow Calais Campbell!!! Even at his age, he’s a force and a leader.
This roster is improved again! Campbell can set the edge at DE.
So now we’ll have Sieler, Tart, and Campbell relieved by Hand, Jones, and Gallimore.
Pili and Harris to the PS?
I think we’ll need to cut a guy to get back down to 90.
btw
How does he pronounce ‘Teair’?
rhymes with Pierre
Calais might not play 712 snaps this year, I do expect him to be out there at more important times
He fills the void for 4th passrusher and inside to take some heat off of Sieler
Along with the Maye signing we’re set on D
I don’t think he’ll play 700 snaps either, but 15 snaps a game is nothing
Let’s forget about the first 11 games of the season, and fast forward to GB
Assuming we have everyone available Chubb, Phillips, Sieler, Campbell, Shaq, Chop, that’s a pretty good front 4 mix to round out the season, at the most important time, with the schedule being it’s toughest
We’re built now to compete with the best

WELCOME TO MIAMI, CALAIS CAMPBELL!!!
Calais Campbell played for DC Anthony Weaver (D-Line Coach) in Baltimore for the ’21 and ’22 seasons. Familiarity/experience is there.
After seeing a tweet from Omar and looking it up, Campbell can and has lined up at every position on the DL including NT and Edge. That’s impressive for a 282 pound DL.
Definitely. Calais is a unique freak and natural leader. Plus, he’s our odds-on favorite to win the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
@Ihartitz
Only three tight ends hit 20+ MPH as a ball carrier last season (Next-Gen Stats) Jonnu Smith Noah Fant Brevin Jordan
NICE! Did not know that about Jonnu.
Three last things I’d like to see…
1) Get the Tua contract done before TC
2) Upgrade the O-Line (particularly RG) with a surprise cut acquisition as league rosters get trimmed to the final 53
3) Upgrade our PS with surprise cut acquisitions
I haven’t looked available OL. I did see a piece recommending we sign OC Mason Cole but I thought he sucked for the Steelers. Maybe not, I don’t know.
I think Eich is our backup center going forward unless we sign Williams sometime during the season.
We know that Robert Jones is serviceable at RG. I know nothing about Driscoll and his ability to come in and play better than Jones.
Currently, available FA O-Line SUCK. That cupboard is very empty.
There is David Bakhtiari, but it sounds as though he may retire… and he’s a LT.
UDFA Matthew Jones’ played RG for Ohio State. He is one I hope surprises the most during TC. He can also play center as his last start was at center in the Cotton Bowl.
May have to wait for cutdowns the end of August.
Mike, Campbell is 37, not sure he’ll play a lot of snaps in a rotation.
He played 62.5% of defensive snaps for the Falcons and 30.1% of snaps on ST at the age of 36. The last 3 seasons he has averaged about the same % of defensive snaps. I could see him having just as many snaps as anyone else on the DL rotation.
Maybe just figured at his age they might be limited.
Yeah, I don’t think it will be anything close to the last 3 years. I’m thinking 35% each game maybe 40%. If they are constantly rotating, I could see it.
Calais’ voice sounds very similar in quality to Shaq’s, just not quite as deep. That’s something I’ve always liked about Calais… how he stands out with his voice.
TM preparing us for the next few months.
He’s definitely talented. He’s not wrong either. The divide is real.
THIS is one of the most brilliant songs I’ve EVER heard.
THANKS for sharing, BB Mike!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
Does anyone think Tua not getting a new contract is a bad look for the team? Both Grier and McDaniel have publicly stated he’s their QB and they envision him being the QB moving forward.
I don’t. I think they are close. I think it is just a matter of working out what he will actually get paid and the safeguards the team wants. I actually think we see something in the next 3 weeks. I don’t think either party wants a contract distraction going into TC.
I agree about TC. What do you think the contract looks like? I really have no idea.
I still think Jordan Love might get his deal before Tua but I also don’t think he will get what Lawrence got.
It’s definitely going to be in this range.

I agree about TC. What do you think the contract looks like? I really have no idea.
————————–
I won’t surprised if many get sticker shock. I won’t until I see the yearly breakdown and how it’s paid and what outs the team has. There are so many directions they can go. One like Herbert’s or one like Josh Allen’s or a little of both.
Just hope it’s not like Goff’s.
No matter what, he is going to get paid.
—————————
Highest paid QBs in the NFL on a per-year basis:
🏈Trevor Lawrence: $55 million.
🏈Joe Burrow: $55M
🏈Jared Goff: $53M
🏈Justin Herbert: $52.5M
🏈Lamar Jackson: $52M
🏈Jalen Hurts: $51M https://t.co/0DMg4K6Tse— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) June 13, 2024
I really hate these fake contracts, with their avg per year, a lot of which is never paid, not only does it prop up the agents, it makes the next guy want more, and QBs on their 5th year get a higher rate
They’re going to have to do something in the next CBA, these Socialists are a bunch of hypocritical, they’re all for a closer (top to bottom) wage scale until it comes to them
I’d rather have Tua over all those guys except Burrow.
I agree for the most part, except I think Hurts could be dangerous in McDaniel’s system and the weapons we have on offense.

Dirty old man vibes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I’m jealous. lol
Scratch that. I just reminded myself my daughter is 33.
lol…there IS something wrong with that! What do they talk about??? Lmao…like owner, like coach
Who’s talking😜
Good point…and to my point! Lol!
I only have sons. So I am allowed to be a dirty old man

I will just type it:
Ken, bummer:
From Dov Kleiman:
BREAKING: Lions are expected to sign UFL kicker Jake Bates.
To Omar from a follower:
Tua shouldn’t be given a dime till he proves the following. Take the team deep into the playoffs. Stay healthy. Beat elite QBs. Win in cold weather.
Omar’s response:
Herbert never took his team deep in the playoffs. Burrow never stayed healthy. Lawrence never beat a elite QB. New standards for Tua. I get it.

I don’t think the organization looks bad with Tua’s contract. They’re handling it very carefully as they should. They want him, they want to pay him, they also want to protect themselves against injury and most likely have an out clause in case he doesn’t perform. He self proclaimed he was getting a contract right after the draft. I don’t recall the front office putting out any timetable or updates on when it was going to get done
This may be shocking, but I agree with this. 😉
Thanks!
So, Omar’s point is that all of those other QBs suck and are overpaid, so we should do the same with Tua? I get it.
It’s a great time to be a decent quarterback
^
lol, dead on balls accurate.
Great movie. Bet I’ve watched it 2 dozen times.
Same, Phel.
CJ Stroud is licking his chops. Bet he wants a new deal 3yrs into his 4yr rookie deal.
I wonder who they release to make room when they actually sign Campbell. My guess it will again be one of the numerous DL they signed earlier.
With Benito Jones and Gallimore’s contracts 100% guaranteed, the DL will almost be obvious who is going to stay. Everyone else is probably fighting for the DT5 spot.
So Sieler, Campbell, Jones, Gallimore and Tart, or maybe they keep 6.
That is what I was thinking. If Tart balls out, our DL should be solid. Also, possibly deeper than last year as I think Benito Jones is actually an upgrade over Davis.
I watched Jones in 2 Loins games last year and he was an animal in the middle. He plays with a motor like Wilkins just not nearly as talented.
Jones showed signs of being a good player when he was with us and was always a last cut or PS. Let’s hope he can be a solid player in our rotation.
I always liked Benito Jones because I remember him being a farm boy like me and country as hell, loves to fish and hunt. I’m sure he gets along great with Seiler.
I’ll call him Big Country

Noooooo. Biggest mistake of the offseason
Platooning the DL can be a good thing, but you must have a star in the room, which Sieler qualifies as
Campbell will benefit from not having to play starter amount of snaps (age), as will Tart, Gallimore and Jones
Counting Edge and all players as healthy we rated as the top D line in the division, and #4 overall Kyle Crabbs
Campbell brings great leadership and will set a standard.
Thinking about our defense we definitely have depth in all phases.
DL 5 man rotation
ED 4 man rotation
LB 3 man rotation
DB 8 man rotation
that’s the best way to combat devastating injuries the last couple of years
we can pretend they didn’t have an impact and say stuff like “it’s an excuse”.
but we need to focus on depth so that injuries don’t cause us to fade again
Agreed
Yup! I agree that we have depth in all phases of our Defense and we’re set to GO(!) on that side of the ball.
Now then… can we honestly say the same about our O-Line??? Uhh, ahh, hmm… I’m cringing, to be honest, Bro. That’s why I’d love to see us sign a surprise vet cut from another team when getting down to final-53 rosters… preferably a RG.
I almost, not quite, but almost feel guilty for getting paid to watch youtube video’s all day. LOL
Doing a bond now though.
The defendant’s attorney is actually cosigning on the bond. That rarely happens.
Is the defendant a hot lady?!!
Dammit, still no news on the Marcus Maye contract $$$.
I’d really like to know where we’re at, $$$-wise under the cap, after signing Maye and Calais. What’s more… what we’re going to do with the $$$ we have left.
Perhaps it’s just me, but I believe the Maye and Calais signings could have waited until later… especially the Calais signing. Why? He’s a seasoned vet who could have waited until the last minute to sign with a team.
What am I saying, here? I think management is putting the pressure on Tua to accept their terms, ASAP. Can’t wait to see how much $$$ we have left to spend this season after the Maye and Calais signings.
I was saying yesterday I think Maye gets close to what Poyer and Neal got, 1.9 to 2 million. I think they sign Campbell to a multiyear deal to spread out a signing bonus and keep his 2024 cap hit low. Then void the remaining years leaving the dead cap on the signing bonus. Same as what they did with Shaq Barrett they probably do with Campbell.
They are probably signing Campbell for 5-6 million but his 2024 cap hit will only be around 2 million is my prediction. Hopefully I will be surprised and it will be less.

It was a dude who is renting one of the attorney’s rental properties.
Good question though. lol
@OmarKelly
#Dolphins contending window lasts as long as two Hall of Famers are here. Miami should make it a priority to extend Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey
———–
That would be nice but not sure how they could do it without sacrificing the OL and DL again and again.
Only way is to constantly draft OL and DL filling those spots with guys on rookie contracts.
Still need to resign Holland and Phillips after Tua.
I don’t understand why people like Omar are saying this
Hill is under contract through 2026
Ramsey is under contract through 2025
we have so many options between now and when their contract expires
Neither is underpaid
we don’t know the direction of our team in 2026 – or what we will have to work on
Hill isn’t the highest paid WR anymore – that’s what happens when you sign contract a a couple years ago.
Patrick Mahomes is the 9th highest paid QB in the nfl
you don’t need to redo 5 year contracts after 2 years….come on!
the only benefit is the possibility of clearing cap room in a given year but right now I would focus on Tua, Holland and Phillips
those guys can play under their current contracts
Tyreek is under contract through 2026 but won’t be if his contract is not extended. On paper, the last 2 years of Hill’s contract makes him the highest paid WR for 2025 and 2026 at a total cost of over 90 million. That won’t happen.
Ramsey is due 26.2 million next year.
Omar is just saying this should be done to keep the train rolling past 2025 and it is going to be hard to replace these 2 HOFer’s.
That said, I don’t see how an extension can be done with Ramsey. He is already killing us with dead cap in 2026 at 18.4 million and a total dead cap of 30 million from 2026 to 2028.

The foreign additions that rarely come to be. Keep on truckin! 🤪
Yes sir. Actually, I do so many, I end up mocking at least half of who we actually draft or more. lol
Early on during the college season last year, I was mocking RB Wright to us. lol
and Mo Kamara
Picks 97 and 98 should actually be where our 3rd round comp picks are and not in the 4th round. I had to make some trades to get those two 3rd’s and the extra 7th.
M13, Put Safety Nick Emmanwori on your watch list this college season. He is a junior at South Carolina this season. Started as a Freshman and recorded 85 tackles then Sophomore year had 71 tackles and 2 INT’s.
Dude is 6’4, 218 pounds and projected to run a 4.38 forty.
They say he might be the best tackling safety in the draft next year, plays with a LB mentality. He also scored decent in coverage especially in zone.
Will do, sir. Thank ya, man!
BBMike, I think Mo Kamara is a sleeper. One of those guys who doesn’t fit the criteria but is a productive player.
I think it’s pretty wild that somebody here on the FMU actually called the shot and nailed it with Mohammed Kamara in the FIFTH ROUND on a final, official mock draft!
😉
And calling it at pick 158 between 32 teams? Those numbers are damn near astromomical.
Yes to both of you!
😀
*astronomical

The Miami Dolphins Just Did EXACTLY What The NFL Feared.. | NFL News (Calais Campbell Chop Robinson)
If you just look at Campbell’s stat, it doesn’t tell the whole story, he sets the edge and pushes the pile back to allow teammates to eat
Good thing we have Nick Chubb. 😂
Barrett, Chop and Kamara is not bad until Chubb and Phillips are back. That could be scary good. Wave upon wave. It never stops.
I feel much better about the D-line now that we have Calais Campbell. That was a huge pickup for us. It would be unreal if we could have both Chubb and Phillips at 80-90% at or before mid season.
Big time weapon.
Mike and Brian, the Mets are going to take us for a ride again. They are such a weird team. 🤪
I’ve been watching. When they’re playing well, they’re fun to watch. 11-4 since the team meeting
Crazy! They go from awful to exciting on and off. Bizarre!
5-0 since Grimace threw out the first pitch!
Achane changes field position with one play. We have quite a few guys who can do that.
We lost some good players this offseason but also added some as well. We’re definitely still competitors.
Our ‘Al Davis’ track team is only as good as it is healthy. Just ask Tua when it came down the stretch, and with zero O-Line help.
Yet somehow, it’s all Tua’s fault.
The skill players are more physical than they’re given credit for. It’s about durability overall.
SPRAY FOR THE INJURY BUG!
Ryan Tannehill couldn’t hit a moving object from 5 yards away. But now, Tua isn’t worthy of a $50M/year contract when he can hit moving objects from 50 yards out?
M – why do you change the words “Tua has played poorly in just about every big game near the end of the season and playoffs” to “It’s all Tua’s fault”. Does that make you feel better? I mean you do realize that if our starting QB plays poorly, we have a nearly impossible task to beat good teams. Skylar was awful against the Bills 2 years ago and we could have won. Same goes for Tua against the Bills in the Finale. If he played a little better, we had a chance. He hasn’t played well in big games, and in my view. I’d prefer not to pay him until he does.
Back on the board after a long absence. Having a difficult time figuring out this sight as far as how to GET BACK to this point!!??!!

Here’s my 2 cents worth on the QB dilemma.
FIX THE FUCKING O-LINE ISSUES!!!!!
99 % OF THE Q.B.’S in the NFL COULD NOT TAKE THIS TEAM to the Super Bowl.
Period!! That’s because our goofball owner doesn’t believe in Drafting O-Linemen in the first round!! He thinks 17 speedy receivers are far more important than having a provably far better O-Line that ranks in the Top 10 of the NFL. SO ROSS’s STOOGES do as he tells them to do and that means drafting a glamor player coming out of college who will SELL TICKETS because he’s “Flashy.”
GET ME THE BIG UGLIES who can control the line of scrimmage and I’ll get you a winning team that will SELL OUT EVERY HOME GAME IN THE REGULAR SEASON!!
THE KID THEY DRAFTED in round 2 from Texas A&M is the kind of guy I’m talking about!! Get me 3-4 more similar players and you’ll see the difference RIGHT AWAY!
Mike, you’re right. TUA can NOT get this team to the Super Bowl. Hell, Dan Marino could NOT get this team, as currently constructed, for THE SAME REASON!!!
GET ME THE BIG UGLIES AND I’LL GET YOU A PLAYOFF WINNER!! BUT, TO DO THAT, WE NEED A NEW PHILOSOPHY AND A NEW OWNER!
