The regular season is upon us, as our Miami Dolphins host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium at 1PM, Sunday September 8th. As we enter this game, there are many questions that will be answered shortly. Will Jalen Ramsey play? Will Aaron Brewer play? Jaelan Phillips will play, but how much? Will there actually be a heavy rotation on the defensive line? Which OLB’s will get the most snaps early in this 2024 season? Will the offensive line play well enough to protect our $212M QB? Will the Dolphins actually use the TE as a weapon and not an afterthought in our new offense? Which RB will get the most action, between RB Raheem Mostert, RB De’Von Achane and RB Jaylen Wright? I’ll have some answers, really just MY answers coming up!
It looks a little more likely that CB Jalen Ramsey may play, he’s supposed to be practicing today, and if he can do so successfully, he will surely be in the starting lineup. If not, he’ll have to wait until next Thursday against our division rival Buffalo Bills. It also appears that C Aaron Brewer, who has not practiced in a few weeks but logged two limited practices will be starting at C. That means Liam Eichenberg will start at RG. The O-line will be as follows – LT Terron Armstead – LG Robert Jones – C Aaron Brewer – RG Liam Eichenberg – RT Austin Jackson. On the D-line, it looks like LE Zach Siler, NT Benito Jones, and RE Calais Campbell. Behind them is Brandon Pili and Da’Shawn Hand, but I believe that DE/OLB Emmanuel Ogbah will be in the mix there as well, although he will surely log snaps at OLB as well, splitting time with Jaelan Phillips, Chop Robinson, Mo Kamara and Quinton Bell.
We were told early on there would be a heavy rotation on the D-line, which will keep players fresher, and allow better performance from all players. Last year, DE Christian Wilkins played 81% of the snaps at DE. That type of workload is supposedly out the window, and when your RDE is 38, you can believe it. The bigger question is not whether or not will have a heavy rotation, but rather will it be effective? That’s the fuzzy part, but Sunday, both in part will be revealed. We had quite a few D-linemen on our roster, and expected to carry more than 5, 6 if you count Ogbah. I could guess that quality won over quantity, but we’ll see if the so called “second wave” or “tsunami” is anywhere close to getting the job done. This will be a must watch.
I have been feeling since we acquired TE Jonnu Smith, who by the way will be listed as a FB, will be a big part of the offense. Not always the first target, but if #1 and #2 are covered, and Jonnu is open, and he should have plenty of opportunity to do just that with all the attention Hill and Waddle will be getting. Last season, TE Durham Smythe caught 35 passes. Also last season, with Atlanta, Jonnu Smith caught 50 passes, and keep in mind he was TE2 there with promising TE Kyle Pitts as the #1. One possibility that I’m well aware of is at least last season, Tua doesn’t hold onto the ball much, but just looking at the 35 receptions by Smythe, I can tell you he wasn’t the first target on the majority of those catches. Tua gets the ball out quick, many times out of necessity to avoid getting hit, but sometimes he extends plays, and I believe this season, that will increase as he has new contract, and I’m not saying he will be reckless, but I do think he’s going to try and keep plays going whereas last year he was trying to get through an entire season.
Trevor Lawrence had an uneven season, much like our own QB Tua Tagovailoa. Tua’s slide was more at the end of the season, Lawrence had a few good ones, a bad one, then a couple of good ones, but for the last games in the regular season, against the Ravens, Bucs and Titans, he was pretty awful, and I believe playing injured as well. This year, however, the Jaguars definitely improved the skill positions. The Jags drafted WR Brian Thomas from LSU. They also picked up WR Gabe Davis formerly of the Buffalo Bills. Christian Kirk is healthy now, after missing the last 5 regular season games and their playoff game. Kirk is a big part of their offense, and with Gabe Davis, and Brian Thomas, they’re more formidable. RB Travis Etienne is a solid back who rushed for over 1000 yards and had 11 rushing TD’s. The Jags also picked up former Bills OC Mitch Morse to solidify the O-line.
On defense, it starts with DE Josh Hines-Allen, who set a Jacksonville Jaguars record with 17.5 sacks last season, eclipsing the former record held by none other than our RDE Calais Campbell (14.5). The Jags picked up veteran DL Arik Armstead in FA from the 49ers. He’s a very disruptive lineman in his own right. MLB Foyesade Oluokun had 173 tackles and 111 of them were solo. In the secondary, the Jags added veteran CB Ronald Darby and he will start at LCB oppositeTyson Campbell. Darby started only 7 games for the Ravens last season while Campbell started 11. Antonio Johnson and Andre Cisco are the safeties. The secondary is the weakest part of the Jags defense, but their defense is great at getting pressure, so we’ll see how that affects our run:pass ratio.
We tend to start out the season pretty strong under MM, last year it was an impressive comeback victory in LA over the Chargers, 36-34. We’re home, and we tend to play better here, but the Jaguars, also a Florida team, won’t succumb to the heat like some other teams might. There are also a lot of questions about personnel, due to the myriad of injuries we have. If you told me before the season that C Aaron Brewer who started every game the last 2 seasons might not play Week 1, but OLB Jaelan Phillips will be playing, I’d call you crazy! As it turns out, they’ll both probably play, but you get my point. We need to start strong again, our schedule, at least at the moment is more favorable early on, home for the Jaguars, home for the Bills, at Seattle, home again for the Titans with whom we have a score to settle. Then we travel to Foxborough to take on the Pats, then our BYE week. We then go to Indy to face the Colts and back home for The Fest game against the Arizona Cardinals. We stay on left coast to face the LA Rams, and then back home for two, to face the LV Raiders and then the Patriots again. Here’s where the screw turns, at Green Bay Thanksgiving eve in what should be a frigid night. At home to face the NY Jets for the first time of the season. Then off to Texas to play the Houston Texans. We then host the 49ers, and the final two games on the road at Cleveland, and then the season finale in New Jersey to face the Jets.
As Rock points out, every game counts, and that’s 100% correct. The problem is, we seem to fall off of a cliff at the end of the season after climbing said cliff during the beginning and middle. The objective is to stay on the damn mountain! We can’t have half the team injured and we need our best players, especially the ones now receiving massive contracts to play well in ALL games, even if they occur at the end of the season as the schedule dictates! LOL! Anyway, that’s why I feel we need to start strong, but any combination of 11 or 12 wins for us will be totally acceptable to me, I’m easy!
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

No predictions from me, just hope. lol
Too many unnecessary commas….They are not even oxford commas Were you trying to type like you were out of breath? LOL
I fucking love COMMAS, Sorry
I’m not totally familiar with the Oxford comma, does it look different than regular commas, because I’ll use those too if you show them to me! lol
generally you do not use a comma before AND or OR Oxford commas ARE used before AND or OR but only before a list of three or more items
That’s not how grammar was taught in the great Dade county Rock
Well, that’s how it was taught just .5 miles north in Broward County in Miramar. It must not translate to Spanish…..
except he agreed to it a few days ago and didn’t want to announce it until he was ready to practice
So while it’s funny, it’s still a Rosanne Rosannadanna moment
C’mon Steve, it’s funny. No more than that, just amusing
so it’s funny, if you don’t think about it?
Fuck! Malik Washington OUT Sunday
he may have been a healthy scratch anyways
We don’t need 5 WRs active every week, we do need at least 5 for the season
Out of our top playmakers he’s behind Hill, Waddle, 3 RBs, and at least 2 TEs, so I don’t see the problem sitting him week 1
Sure I’d like to see him play, but might as well wait until his body is 100%
Would like to see him take over the return duties from Berrios
He has a quad injury
Rock – I think I write as if I were talking, if that helps you understand how I use my commas. 🙂
My post came across as a criticism when I was just busting balls. Thank you again for keeping the content fresh and up to date.
It reads like a very excited kindergartner was telling a story
That adequately describes me, I’m good with that
“One time, at band camp…!”
More commas!! 🙂
wait what? Jags and Titans made the playoffs last year?
They were also one and done in the playoffs, losing to the Titans in Tennessee.
The secondary is the weakest part of the Jags defense, but their defense is great at getting pressure, so we’ll see how that affects our run:pass ratio.
Jags had all of 40 sacks last year, are we on the sacks vs pressure debate
I was looking at the game logs and saw their game on 1/7 and thought it was a playoff game. My mistake
Oh, and besides the 17.5 sacks, Hines-Allen had 33 QB hits and 17 TFL. LB Travon Walker had 19 QB hits.
can’t find any good stats for pressures
where the Jags bring pressure we’re good defending it
We’re home, and we tend to play better here, but the Jaguars, also a Florida team, won’t succumb to the heat like some other teams might.
while this may be true, Miami heat/humidity is much stronger than it is in Jax, I expect it will effect them somewhat, especially after chasing our speedsters all over the field
Not to mention that our bench is in the shade all game and the visitors bench is in direct sun all game. There is a 30 degree difference on many game days.
“affect”, not “effect” as long as we’re English teachers now
You replied to the wrong poster. I didn’t write effect.
No, I replied to Steve’s post, that’s where it goes
yes Mike affect, and you did respond to the wrong post, yours is indented under Rock’s
no this is a reply to steve
If Jonnu doesn’t have at least 5 plays, catches or runs ill be surprised, as they sure seemed to focus on him in PS and TC
He’ll be a big part of our O
Smythe probably gets squeezed out of most of his targets from last year
Julian Hill should get a heavier load than last year
Then there’s Berrios, while I think he’ll be a forgotten man IDK, at least first 4 weeks
Tua gets the ball out so fast…how fast does he get it out
I hate references to Tua getting the ball out fast as if that’s all he does is drop back and fires it
In general, that’s the idea of the play, but if his top 2 targets aren’t open, then he looks around a bit and that’s where our O tends to break down
We all know he can get it out quick, we shouldn’t be worried at those plays, it’s the 3rd downs where he holds the ball a bit, and looks for someone open, tries to scramble around…where we struggle
Jonnu should help with this, OBJ too once he gets on the field, and Tua’s new/old scrambling ability
Last night both QBs had to hold the ball longer than they wanted to at times, but that’s where they earn their money, broken plays, Tua must be able to do it this year or we won’t be able to win close games
On average I believe it was about 2.1 seconds per pass attempt. It was the fastest in the NFL last season. So, in terms of comparison it’s very fast
You missed the point, it was about what happens when he doesn’t get it out fast
OLB Kyle Van Noy suffered a fractured orbital bone in Thursday night’s loss to the Chiefs and will undergo further tests to determine how much time he will miss
Won’t have to live stream the game here on the panhandle. That’s rare.
NFL Coverage Map Week 1: TV Schedule for FOX, CBS Broadcasts (msn.com)
I guess tonight’s game is on Peacock. Oh well
I hope MM is the O genius I think he is. Meaning, he will scheme ALL his weapons, Jonnu for sure. Malik when he is able. Achane in an other dimension. I fucking hope so…lol
Tua then executes, given any fucking bit of time…lol
He has never had this talent on this team to work with….it has literally taken years…lol
And, thank you Mike E.! So sorry…lol!
Thanks Krishna! I’m gonna show these knuckleheads the difference between a pressure and a sack at the Fest, you can help! LOL
lmao…no doubt!
I got your sack right here Mike
Just a few good college games on tomorrow.

Steve – yeah? I’ll put that sack in the dirt and bury it
Lol, Jordan Love 38 yards TD, nullified by too many men on the field, both teams
Hurts having a GREAT game. lol
Eagles have run 5 plays for -1 yard with 1 INT and 1 fumble by the QB
Big money RB’s so far:
Josh Jacobs 6 carries 4 yards
Saquon Barkley 5 carries 13 yards
Barkley with the 18 yard TD reception though
Derrick Henry last night 13-46 1 td, nothing special
He will not get as many carries in the Ravens offense
agree
Love is throwing as falling backwards A LOT to night .. that one cost him
Zack Baun looks like a good UFA the Eagles snatched up. 1 year for 1.6 mil, they already got their money’s worth. lol
Some dumb throws by both QBs
Pressures are like 2nd place. 2nd place is last to lose. If you ain’t 1st you’re last.
Not again
Sure, but pressures are to sacks as receptions are to TDs, pretty sure no one is complaining about our receivers getting receptions
I’m not tracking your analogy.
it’s like Married with Children, you can’t have one without the other😜
tick-tock tick-tock only 29 hours and eight minutes
Zack Baun finished with 15 tackles (11 solo) and 2 sacks. Not bad for a free agent the Eagles got for 1.6 million.
To me, a pressure is like a 3-yard run. It may help and it may not. A sack is like a run of 8+ yards. It is most likely going to help but depending on the down and distance it may not. Like it’s 2nd down and 3, you get a sack for 1 yard and now it’s only 3rd and 4.
Don’t mean to nitpick, but the sack ends the play too, which is important. Instead of a completion downfield, the play is over for a loss, and a loss of down. The pressure could be a TD pass
the pressure could also be a throw away, or a check down instead of a deep wide open pass
The key is “could be”. The sack ends the play, unless they fumble.
Looks like Ken got his injury. Just read that the video shows something pop in Love’s knee.
Of course Love is my fantasy QB I meant injuries for the AFC teams that played on Thursday
Karma
that’ll learn ya
Fuck Karma. Dak is my backup I am good to roll
Another WR to keep an eye on for the slot is Jordan Moore of Duke. He could be a draft steal in the mid rounds. He was recruited as a duel threat QB, 6’2 195. Switched to WR and this is his 3rd season at the position.
Rock – Bad juju
Wait, bad, juju. Better.
the JO announcer, that just interviewed Brady says, football is an analyst driver sport, we see the game thru the analysts eyes
that’s news to me you narcissist

Jordan Love believed to have torn his MCL, not expected to be season ending
In response to us having the oldest roster, more of a positive than negative
on O we have 4 players over 30, with Armstead the oldest at 33, Hill 30, Mostert 31 and Lamm 32
I don’t have any age concerns with any of those 4, nor do I think any have lost a step
On D 5 with Calais at 38, Ogbah 30, Riley 30, Neal 30 and Maye 31
Calais isn’t playing like he did earlier in his career, but really only with number of snaps and we knew what he was when we signed him, unlike a player we’ve had for years that’s getting old, the rest their age means nothing in the negative to me
Also OBJ is 31, but again we just signed him

Roster Move | We have elevated WR Robbie Chosen to the active roster
Jaxson Dart needs to stop it if he wants the Dolphins to be able to draft him in the 4th round.
He completed 25 of 27 passes for 377 yards today.
Still 9 minutes left but I am sure they pull him
ND are some sorry MOFO’s
like I said…they’ll probably do with Chosen what they did with Cracraft last year….elevate him often whenever someone’s nicked up.

I’ve got my ice white home game new era Ramsey jersey on and the laundry is piled on the floor in front of the washer ready to go.
Some of these are pretty good
I have no idea what Rock sounds like in real life. My alarm went off this morning to get up for work and the first thing that went through my mind when I woke up is I heard Rock say his catchphrase. lol
He sounds just like that. Just like you’d expect. Tough and crisp and commanding.
@RapSheet
#Dolphins Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey, dealing with a hamstring injury, will attempt to play today, sources say. He’s listed as questionable, and either way, he won’t be full go. But he’s planning to give it a try on a pitch count.
@SamMonsonNFL
I’ve never understood how you can play on a limited basis with a hamstring injury.
That thing’s just a ticking time bomb the first time you really stress it, which can be snap 1 or snap 51
if we win today and lose against Buffalo, we’re starting the season behind the 8 ball
Be fn smart and sit Ramsey
these game previews, where they talk up each team, reminds me of our false hope year after year
especially the Bears, they must think, because Houston did it last year tge Bears can make the jump this year
one problem, Houston won their division by default, Bears division won’t allow them the same luxury
sure tge Bears will be better, but they aren’t making the playoffs, unless the NFC is really bad this year
What does a Dolphins fan in NJ do on gameday?
Well, he goes to the Mets game baby! LGM!
GO DOLPHINS!!!!
Boo
I say that because they are going to try and break out the broom for the sweep of the Reds.

this site sucks. Tyreek detained by police for reckless driving this morning
WTF
Joe Schad
Miami Dolphins inactives: Jaylen Wright and Ethan Bonner not up today vs. Jaguars. Who else is active or inactive?
WTF?
Short on WR’s and Wright a no go
Bonner is supposed to be the #2 behind Ramsey
????
Tindall inactive…
Reminds me of when Scottie Scheffler was arrested driving in to Augusta National to play at the Masters earlier this year.
Idiot
Here are the Miami Dolphins inactives
RB Jaylen Wright: The rookie flashed in the preseason but Miami goes with Jeff Wilson up.
CB Ethan Bonner: He goes from possible starter to scratch. Storm Duck is active, special teams possibly a factor, here.
LB: Channing Tindall: There is great inside linebacker depth here.
OL: Andrew Meyer: This tells us Miami feels OK about Aaron Brewer, with Liam Eichenberg as backup.
WR Malik Washington: We’ll see how bad his injury turns out to be.
MM doesn’t like to play rookies
I thought that was Fangio
apparently it was mutual
Mike the slacker from Citi
After that Notre Dame disaster yesterday (and a sleepless night) I REALLY REALLY can’t handle a “Miami disaster” today!
Get the offense going, make it fun to watch… please … that’s all I want. 🙂
^^
Sorry, my son sent me this. Never saw them before. Even if you hate him, these are still funny.
Slow moving traffic violation as he was driving into the stadium for Hill so he’s cuffed and made to eat dirt. Feck me I really don’t fancy ever getting behind a wheel in the US. Law enforcement seems to be all the latter and little or none of the former. At least being white, 63 and grey I spose I’m less likely to be racially profiled. Great start to the season. Reek’s legal team taking it from here.
It happened to Scottie Scheffler and Tyreek has a mouth/hot head. So…
I thought exactly the same BBM
Harlan and Green talking about it on CBS Miami WFOR
Ramsey good to go. Prolly limited tho
the Dolphins need to require some sort of counseling for Tyreek. He’s an idiot
I am trending towards agreement
lol
Who’s she? 😉
I hope Reek goes over 150 today just because!
AND HERE WE GO!
BALL HAWK!!! *hiccup*
I’m HYPED!!!
It’s only a matter of time before Kevin Harlan screams, “HE’S GOT HILL!!! HE’S GOT HILL!!!”
Here’s your beer
Kevin Harlan …….. ‘he’s got Hill ……….. in handcuffs’
NOOOOOO!!! LOL
😂
I was about to scream fucking screen! COME ON! but, well. YAY! LOL
I could just imagine Rock calling that play on Madden
Need to be better on 1st down
Not a good snap on 1st down…
way too much like my preview on Madden this morning so far….
WTF MM
I don’t mind going for it on 4th down
but I wouldn’t feature Berrios there
he should have caught that
he’s gotta hit the open guy
O looks like shit, why go for it there?
I think they te just trying to get on track
after not playing in PS
maybe they knew the Jax offense would lose 14 yards on their first drive….lol
OMG , Giants jersey looks like a Montreal Canadiens jersey
Campbell already paying dividends
Calais 👍👍👍
Sheesh I though our first downs look bad
Wilkins who? 😃
Nice plays so far for the D
That’s a great looking start on D
More TD’s than Int’s Let’s start and finish that way. !!!!
alright – let’s go
Get some production on 1st down and everything else will fall in to place
nice patience by mostert for 5
I think it’s going to be Jonnu smith time soon
Right on cue ..he was offside 😎
Mostert dinged up already should have activated Wright
is he inactive?
He is inactive
IMPOSSIBLE!
NO WAY TUA COULD OVERTHROW LOL
Ice punt🤷♂️
GREAT punt!
Tua still going to first reads even if it is not there. Not even looking for second reads.
opening day jitters, not playing PS will do that
jonnu nervous?
