Marcus Mbow is a prospect I like to play RG. He played RT this last season but projects better at OG. He’s athletic and could still be a backup at RT. He could play either OG position. Projected to be drafted on day 2.

  6. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I see Jalen Hurts went out with a concussion in the mid-1st quarter, giving way to Kenny Pickett at QB. Saquon Barkley is going to run for over 200 yards again today, with 122 yards at halftime already.

Saquon is soon to become the newest member of the 2,000 rushing yards in a season club.

Tyreek Hill blames drops on lack of reps with Tua Tagovailoa – ESPN

I completely agree with him and it’s one reason the game has devolved so badly. It’s probably also a reason for increased injuries instead of preventing them. No matter what you do or how long you’ve done it, you need practice. Players practice maybe half as much and less than half as hard. No real two-a-days anymore. Maybe 14 padded practices a year now? They are gym warriors instead of football players. Athletes instead of football players. It shows and it’s incredible that players used to be able to handle a full schedule and lots of practice. A tougher time with better football honestly. They don’t get the reps to get their bodies and minds adjusted to real football.

Basketball is the same thing. The excuse of them moving more has been negated by the ridiculous horse like 3 pt contest that is modern Bball.

Methinks you’d get a resounding YES(!), M13 is a pretty awesome dude who is very THOUGHTFUL and actually CARES about others, unlike most.

I’m most certainly not without faults and that has very clearly come across over the years on these blogs. I’m a sinner, as we ALL are. I’ve got a fucking potty-mouth and I have the propensity to rage against the machine, even in their fuck-faces.

Yeah, perhaps I go over-the-top at times… no… I KNOW I do. That’s called PASSION! Everybody needs to have passion! Or certainly better stated… COMPASSION!

Compassion is the remedy for today’s maladies, in light of everything going on in the world right now.

My apologies for coming off hella cocky as of late… I’m just really fuckin’ rattled regarding our season, and I offer solutions that haven’t come to fruition… it’s just so frustrating, especially to me.

How can Ross not see it!?? Every day that loser is employed is another inch further that I am pushed from being a fan. Unless he is fired or dies there is zero chance I will come back to be a fan of this team. It was such a large part of my life for so long it is sad, but I cannot be a fan of garbage and that is what the loser piece of shit has compiled. A huge steaming pile of shit.

WTF is everyone bitching about, did we forget the previous 20 years

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Exactly! Keep building the team.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Probably remembering that Dave Wannstedt was 11-5, 11-5, 9-7, and 10-6 before the wheels fell off. He won a playoff game with Jay Fiedler too. The 2000 Dolphins averaged 20 points a game as well, but they didn’t have two of the highest paid WRs and the 5th highest paid QB.

  78. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, my comment asking are you always awesome wasn’t personal, it was a general statement. Just because the team is having a sub par season doesn’t mean everyone sucks and you have to start over. You regroup and get after it again next year. There is a lot of talent on this team.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

5 players account for 157 million or 62% of our salary cap. Three of them are on the offense and the next 2 highest paid at another 25 mill are offensive players. We average 20 points a game. That kinda leads you to think those players suck. When your top 5 offensive players account for 54% of the salary and you have the 17th best offense in the NFL…you kinda suck.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Some of those stats are skewed because of when Tua was out. The season hasn’t gone the way anyone wanted. They’re not going to blow it up, they’re going to keep building and trying to get better.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

So Tua, Tyreek and Waddle are those first 3 players. You are saying they suck? I could see not worth the price tag, but not that.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

        Tim,

that’s a cop out. Trying to get better while paying 7 players most of pie while having zero expectations for them. Team took advantage of some rules last year while never being able to adjust to two high safeties. Rules change, reality comes calling 6-16 against winning teams with this version. Pathetic

  79. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

First lines out. Dolphins 6.5 favorites in Cleveland.

  80. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Wouldn’t go buying your playoff tickets right now (and does not include the Broncos losing out.

    —————

“the Dolphins obviously have to win their final two games at Cleveland and at the New York Jets and also still need two of the following three scenarios:

    — The Colts have to lose at least one game, either against the 2-13 Giants or the 3-12 Jaguars.

    — The Chargers have to lose their final two games against the three-win New England Patriots and the two-win Las Vegas Raiders (though both games are on the road).”

  81. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

New Age, I just go by what I see. As a fan I don’t demand a championship. I appreciate the team trying to win.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

In a competitive sport, that should be the goal. Every player, coach, and person involved with this team should be doing their best to bring a championship every year. It’s why they play. It’s why this game is here. Rewarding bad results just brings apathy as seen by many fans on this site.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That is the goal of the team. They’re trying to win. I said as a fan. We as fans just root for them. I don’t view this team as a mess. They had a sub par season just like a few other teams that were projected to be better. It happens! It doesn’t mean everything is awful moving forward.

The easiest thing to do as a fan is to shit on everything because you’re not happy. Not everything goes according to plan. I hear Yankee fans complaining constantly every year even when they’re in the mix every year. The team wants to win just like the fans want them to. Oh sorry we didn’t meet your expectations.

We’re not the Jets or Giants. Look at what they’re going through. That fanbase is at a loss for words.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Both fanbases have had playoff wins since we have. We are the team with the longest streak of no playoff wins in the NFL. I’d love to be in the Yankees situation. I loved watching the Mets last year. This team isn’t close to that. We haven’t had a really competitive playoff game in about 24 years? That’s a really long time Tim. That’s a ton of patience other fanbases haven’t needed.

  82. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Stanger,

There are varying levels of suck, but yeah, I think they suck in many ways especially compared to their peers. There’s at least 5 WRs I’d rather have than Tyreek and quite a few more over Waddle. Their jobs are to catch passes no matter who the QB is. They’ve been an abject failure at that this year. Tyreek leads our WRs but he’s 29th in yards, 24th in catches, tied with about 20 players at 20th in TDs. Tied with powerhouses like Andrei Iosivas, Sam LaPorta, and Jalen Tolbert. Amazing work.

Tua is average. Yeah, he missed games but so did Russell Wilson with similar stats. Jayden Daniels is crushing it. Nix is doing ok. Herbert is crushing it. Obviously, Burrow is in a league of his own with Mahomes. Sam Darnold already looks better than Tua ever has and there’s 3 games left. Goff, Baker, Lamar all look better. He’s average and having that paycheck and leadership responsibility says it all. So does his record against winning teams. It’s Year 5 and this is what we have. A gimpy QB that looks average unless he’s playing really bad teams.

Average QB and WRs getting paid top money and over 40% of our cap to bring 9-8 seasons. That’s pathetic.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But didn’t Tyreek and Waddle bust it last year? If you are saying this year they are not as good performance-wise…. then I agree. Or did you think thye didn’t do well last year? Wasn’t Tyreek on the pace for 2,000 yards at one point?

Plenty of reciever years I’d rather have in this one. But when they signed was based on last year.

And you can think Tua is average, but I think he is much more than that. His stats say he is.

  83. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Yesterday (12/22/24: 120 yards) marked the first time in nearly a year (12/31/23: 107 yards) that Achane ran for over 100 yards in a game. That hardly seems possible to me.

Is it coincidental that yesterday was also the 2024 debut of Isaiah Wynn? NO, that is no coincidence.

What’s more, once Wynn went down for the season last year in week 7, Achane only broke 100 yards once (again, on 12/31/23).

    WELCOME BACK, ISAIAH WYNN!!!

  84. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Another thing regarding Achane. If Coach McD continues to overuse him (especially in the passing game), he’s going to get him killed out there.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You play your best players and right now Achane is our best player, at least on offense. The kid is electrifying.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

He IS electrifying! But it’s also terrifying every time he gets hit over the middle by a LB. Don’t want to see that kid get pulverized before his career really takes off.

I have a genuine concern for Achane… especially being he’s such a little guy.

  85. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

There are only 4 players on our team who’ve caught TD passes this season.

‘Reek (6), Da’ Penguin (2), Jonnu (6), and Achane (6).

  86. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

2 more days to determine if Bradley Chubb sees action this season. If he’s not made active, he’s done for the season.

  87. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Offensive needs, in no particular order…

    — O-LINE(!!!), particularly the Guard positions. Positional versatility would be such a plus for when somebody inevitably gets injured. Bring back Isaiah Wynn as a backup, unless he gets injured or shits the bed in our last 2 games. These guys need to be solid, tough, SMASHMOUTH, who can additionally move in the OBS (Outside Blocking Scheme) that we run.

    — a taller WR on the boundary (think De’Vante Parker-ish in size) who can win contested catches in redzone situations. Same could be said of the TE position. We can’t seem to create passing TDs in redzone sits with any regularity with speedy, midget WRs… ever since we rid ourselves of De’Vante and Mike Gesicki.

    — Back-up QB. One being a vet, one being a rook to groom for the future. Skylar Thompson is a failed project and it’s time to move on.

    — a BIG-bodied RB like… CHRIS BROOKS. Yeah, the guy Chris Grier cast away, SMH. One who can move the chains in short-yardage sits. Rashaad Penny on the cheap would suffice.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And I said before, so I’ll say it again: if Coach McD can’t figure out how to beat two-high Safeties with ‘Reek and Da’ Penguin, maybe he needs to find a new line of work.

All the $$$ we’ve invested, all the speed and seperation they provide, and Coach McD can’t figure out how to beat two-high Safeties??? Are you kidding me?!!

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

He can’t POSSIBLY be that stupid, right?!!

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

He’s a running-game master, is he not??? Throw two-high Safeties all game at me, and I’m running down your throat to the tune of 300 yards on the ground!!!

        But… OH… the O-Line… OOPSIE!!! Somebody neglected the O-Line!!!

A lot of needs when we haven’t got to the defense yet.

Why bother? Let him and Phillips just be ready for training camp.

    ————

I hear that, Stanger… I do. There’s only one problemo: Chubb’s cap hit for ’25 is paralyzing us, and there’s no guarantee he’ll ever be 100% again. It’s the second ACL tear Chubb has endured, and I think it occured on the other (good) knee.

Not an ideal situation for us.

  89. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So here’s where we stand right now as a Defense…

    — #10 in points yielded

    — #7 in total yards yielded

    — #10 in passing yards yielded

    — #6 in rushing yards yielded

Peeps, we’ve got a top-10 Defense under first-year DC Anthony Weaver!!!

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And we’ve accomplished as much with injury (Phillips, Chubb, premature retirement of Shaq Barrett), two sucky Safeties in Holland & Poyer, without Christian Wilkins (thank you, Calais Campbell!!!) and AVG (helluva season for the Vikings this season), and being #22 in INTs.

Not to mention we parted ways in-season with the under-achieving LB David Long and S Marcus Maye.

Pray we don’t lose Ant Weaver to a HC job in the offseason… unless he becomes our new HC.

I don’t think hockey Rangers fans expected what’s going on with them either. We’re just fans.

Defensive needs, in no particular order…

    — DI (Defensive Interior). Zach Sieler is having a career year, potentially worthy of All-Pro honors… and certainly Pro-Bowl honors. Calais Campbell is part of the reason why. Will Calais come back for one more season? While he hasn’t ruled it out, we need to find his replacement ASAP, and via the Draft.

    — ILB/MLB. Jordyn Brooks has had a very good year for us (not stellar, but very good), and his supporting cast at the position has been ‘meh’ at best.

    — Safety. Jevon Holland has steadily and progressively regressed each season since he came on the scene. This is by far his worst season and in a contract year. I’m not over-paying him, and Jordan Poyer has been even worse. Channing Tindall has 2 more tackles (4) than Poyer has passes defended (2). This unit needs a COMPLETE overhaul, and I’m being kind.

    — CB. Aside from Jalen Ramsey, who is having an OFF year, this unit has been unremarkable. Great job in contributing to the #10 passing Defense, in spite of our horrific Safety play, but there just isn’t enough talent (BALLHAWKS!) on the team. Cam Smith is a flop, Darth Kader becomes a FA at the end of the league year, Will Fuller has been ‘alright’, and who knows what will come of Ramsey and his bloated contract? Gotta find a future CB at some point in the Draft, even if it’s on day 3.

    — EDGE. SOOOO many questions, not enough answers. I believe Chop Robinson IS the future and could possibly even become ELITE one day. Jaelan Phillips is officially a medical nightmare, dating back to his college days. Bradley Chubb? Essentially the same for him now. Mo Kamara seems to need more seasoning. Do we bring back Emmanuel Ogbah, and if so, is he a better fit at DE or LB? Yeah, I see EDGE being another early pick for us in the ’25 Draft.

Offensive needs, in no particular order…

    — O-LINE(!!!)

RG/IOL Luke Kandra, 6’4 320 pounds – Kandra brings a blue-collar mentality and technical prowess to the interior offensive line. His ability to execute zone concepts with precision and climb to the second level will have zone-heavy teams salivating. The Cincinnati product’s football IQ and ability to process complex defensive fronts suggest a high floor as a potential plug-and-play guard in the right system. His 2023 run blocking grade ranked him #2 of all power 5 conference guards.

    — a taller WR on the boundary

    Savion Williams, 6’5, 225, 4.45 forty

    — Back-up QB

    Marcus Mariota and Dillon Gabriel

    — a BIG-bodied RB

Cam Skattebo, 5’11, 215, 4.52 (I think Singleton goes too early)

    or

    Raheim Sanders, 6′, 230, 4.44

  93. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

M13, here is your big boundary WR. Though he can be used in so many ways. He reminds me a lot of you know who with the ball in his hands.

Again, this dude is 6’5, 225 pounds.

And yet, they stop no one when it’s needed most. Oh yeah…it’s also against teams with losing records.

All fair, Phelon. I’m just looking at the stats, nothing more. You’ll see a more detailed breakdown on my Defensive needs… where the stats mean nothing to me.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

For instance, a winning team (Defense) generates turnovers… something we really have sucked at this season.

At the risk of being labeled a red neck, I really wish they would just go back to the Hank Jr Monday night theme.
