The trio of Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, GM Chris Grier and Head Coach Mike McDaniel, they are the Miami Dolphins Triumvirate of Failure. Of course it starts at the top with the owner who hired Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel, and then kept them on for at least one more season. The biggest problem is the culture here. It seems Stephen Ross is content with the Miami Dolphins being known as a friendly destination, the players love it here, it’s warm, fuzzy, friendly, almost like being on vacation all year round, and the team plays like it. We have an oft injured QB that wanted a lot of money, and because he had a few concussions, maybe Ross felt guilty and wanted to reimburse Tua for his pain and suffering. Any other franchise would have played Tua on his 5th YR option and have him prove/earn his next contract. Had they done that, well, our team would have looked a lot different. We could have kept some players that we let go, but honestly, the culture would still exist. A change needs to happen here, and I’m not convinced that change can/will happen with Stephen Ross in charge. If he ran this business like his real estate business, Grier and McDaniel would have been gone already, but Ross doesn’t seem bothered by any of this.
Right now, we have a friendly, amicable Head Coach supposedly loved by his players. Love does not equal respect. I’d love to hear what DT Calais Campbell really thinks of Mike McDaniel, and how he runs this team. He’s been around a few different coaches, he played in Baltimore for HC John Harbaugh, he played for HC Doug Marrone in Jacksonville where he really flourished (the team, not so much), he played in Arizona for HC Bruce Arians, and most recently, before he came to Miami he played for HC Arthur Smith in Atlanta. I’d love to know how he feels about the friendly vacation like atmosphere here in Miami, if he thinks that breeds a winning atmosphere. Well, we all know we have Grier and McDaniel this season and that’s the way it is, but it doesn’t hurt to look down the road. I really believe that this team needs a huge culture change. We need a leader of men, one that is respected, feared and revered, and it’s totally unnecessary whether they are liked. Don Shula was such a coach. He couldn’t give a rats ass whether you liked him, but you damn well had better do your job or he’d have your head on a platter. I know some feel that type of attitude has gone by the wayside, but I don’t.
LA Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh just came back to the NFL after a 10 year absence. One season back, and he made a huge difference. As many of you know here, I wanted Jim Harbaugh here years ago. He’s a disciplinarian, a no nonsense, hot tempered, respected Head Coach, a Head Coach that wins! In 5 seasons, 4 with the 49ers, and last season with the LA Chargers (Who were 5-11 in ’23), Harbaugh’s NFL record is an astounding 55-25, good for a .685 winning %. He’s a no nonsense, old school guy. I tell you what to do, we win, and things are good, you don’t do as I say, you sit or get cut. Our team so desperately needs that, it would be the logical change from our “Club Miami” vacation getaway atmosphere. When multiple players who were here sound off saying we’re soft” and players who played on other teams come here and say “we always knew if he got on them they’d fold”, you can frigging believe it’s true.
All I can hope as a Dolphins fan now is that Chris Grier/Mike McDaniel do nothing further to make this team worse, meaning trading away future picks, mortgaging the future cap by restructuring players who should be gone when you can cut or trade them like WR Tyreek Hill, DE Bradley Chubb, and QB Tua Tagovailoa. You DON’T TOUCH THOSE CONTRACTS!!! I also don’t want them spending desperately and foolishly in Free Agency to try and win enough this season to keep their jobs. I pray they leave this team in decent enough shape for the next regime so that they can quickly rebuild and bring winning and respect back to Miami.
I feel the QB and the team have adopted the same personality. There are so many fans I have interacted with here, and on Twitter that feel like QB Tua Tagovailoa is a good enough QB to win with, and he deserved his big contract. Just look around the NFL right now, and you’ll see QB’s winning who were just drafted, and these guys are not softies who must remain protected behind an All-Pro offensive line. These guys are athletes who can throw the ball, and can take it and run if necessary, and get back up and play, not taken off the field on a stretcher. QB Bo Nix (RD 1 #12) is one of those guys. Jayden Daniels (RD 1 #2) is another. Drake Maye (RD1 #3) is another. In last year’s draft, CJ Stroud (RD1 #2) has had some ups and downs, but CJ Stroud has won 2 playoff games already, and the New England Patriots have tons of cap space to build a nice team around their QB Drake Maye. Bo Nix who was not very highly regarded played very well this season and showed a lot of potential. The point is, we need to aim higher here fans, don’t settle, try to be better! Tua is not the answer. We made a tremendous mistake paying him like an elite QB. Not that ESPN’s QBR is the end all, but it gives you a good idea how a QB performs all around, and although some of you here think Tua is a Top 10 QB, in ESPN’s QBR system, he’s 16th. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2024/passing.htm#passing::qbr. They got a HC to come here and put on a cheerleader outfit and grab some pom poms and be QB Tua Tagovailoa’s personal cheerleader. I guess they felt bad about the meany Brian Flores who treated him like any other player. I remember thinking Flores was a dick for that, and he might be, but he was more right than I thought. I think Tua needs tough love, not unconditional love. I think the whole damn team needs that. Enough of this love-fest bullshit, it doesn’t work in the NFL.
I know some of you here still feel QB Tua Tagovailoa is good enough to take this team all the way. If we can get Tua an All-Pro offensive line, and a great defense, we can do it, I know it! I know otherwise. We don’t have the financial capability to get us an All Pro O-line, and the guys drafting also seem incapable of such wizardry. If you look at the NFL Championship Round, you’ll see that each team features a QB with athletic ability and durability. They can all not only pass the football but rush the ball effectively when necessary. The Bills Josh Allen, the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, the Eagles Jalen Hurts and the Commanders Jayden Daniels. This is what works in the NFL. I look at Tua, and I just get angry. He’ll never be that QB because if it’s necessary, he can make that play once, and then he’ll be taken off the field on a stretcher or a cart. It’s not me being facetious, this is what it is. Every team needs their QB to make plays outside the pocket, a TD run here. a first down there, and not get injured. Instead, we’re going to try and build a wall for our QB to stand behind and hope he doesn’t get hit, ever. We know how that ends, and it doesn’t end well. So again, my hopes for ’25 are our GM doesn’t screw the future cap for our team for the next few years, and maybe we have a good enough draft and Free Agency without overpaying anyone to make this team a preferable destination for a legit GM and Head Coach as well. Softies need not apply!

When does the outcry for that guy on the Jills to retire start? Haven’t heard a peep.
Oh well. At least the Jills lost! If any Phin fan thinks this team is remotely close to what the playoff teams brought, they are sadly mistaken.
I was checking out Superbowl tickets just for fun. The equivalent ones we get for the Fest are going for six grand. Never say I don’t get you guys a deal. 🙂
I think Mukuba is going to be a very good safety in the NFL.
I was thinking, would the Dolphins consider moving Ramsey to FS. Reason being, if CB Will Johnson falls to #13, I might take him and move Ramsey to FS. I think Ramsey could make a ton of plays back there. Could have been an off year or something else but Ramsey got beat a bit as our #1 CB. Thoughts?
Will Johnson is a 6’2 202 lockdown CB.
I’ll say this much: CB will be a darkhorse target for us early under Chris Grier. I don’t believe Will Johnson falls to us… but IF he falls to us, I could see us running to the podium to draft him @ R1P13.
Don’t know if that would make us move Ramsey to S, but it would be an interesting thought.
HE MADE IT! WELL DESERVED!
Speaking of darkhorses, I continue to see my guy Charles Grant, T (Guard for us), William & Mary, moving up the boards. I was hoping to land him quietly in the 4th round, but many have moved him up to the 3rd round already.
Yes he has. Same for WR Savion Williams. Dammit!
YUP! I too have noticed Savion’s rise in recent mocks.

This could work, provided we DO sign a solid Guard via FA.
AND obviously sign a legit backup QB.
JMO,
When it comes to drafting players EARLY, ya want to bring in talent to the TALENT positions. Why is that? Because if ya have to sign a TALENT position via trade or FA, you’re paying through the nose and them some.
Just look at what Tyreek, Ramsey, and Chubb have co$t us, for example.
BBM,
The above has absolutely nothing to do with what you’re talking about. It’s just a random comment regarding the Draft.
This is part of the reason why I’m not so invested in drafting a Guard @ R1P13: Guards aren’t game-changers or play-makers.
Allow me to dial that back some. Guards don’t have very good value @ R1P13 unless you damn near have a sure-fire future HOFer @ R1P13 for the taking.
I simply don’t see that Guard (for us) in this draft class.
Yeah, I gotcha
Thanks. And I agree that IF Will Johnson falls to us @R1P13, we must RUN to the podium.
Man…
you really don’t know how much you hate the Bills until you wake up the next morning after watching them lose in the postseason
…slept like a baby last night
You know how you know you’ve gone to the dark side with your team? I hate my team more than I hate the Bills. I really do. I have zero fucking love for this shitshow. Until they do something to make me feel differently, this is it for me. I’m disgusted with the way they do things here, I have no faith in the GM in the coaches, nothing!I hope they have a great draft to make me feel better about things but nothing they’ve done here anytime in the last 5 years lead me to believe that this can happen
You have finally joined me….
👹
Not sure if anyone read the link that Rocko put up, but if Anthony Weaver signs on as Head Coach with the Saints, we don’t get compensatory picks because Weaver was only with us for one season
I think it is going to be Kelen Moore anyway.
Here we go again. So much bitching about the OL and blaming them for losing games. But, when we start heading towards the draft, everybody starts talking about how you shouldn’t draft a guard at #13. Why not? It seems everybody thinks they’re pretty damn important since they are responsible for all our losing. Same shit. Different year.
These are guys at #13 who can play OT or OG. So yeah, why not?
Don’t look at me!
Continuing the search for a day 3 WR. This one is not a big WR but 5’9 190, 4.36 forty.
That said: There’s no way these guys put high draft capitol into the OL anyway. Lol
Didn’t they draft Paul in the 2nd round last year?
Randy was talking about drafting an OG in RD 1, that was his rant
Oh okay. Austin Jackson in 2020. I don’t think there is any pattern, it’s about the talent available and how they have prospects rated.
Ryder seems to be on the same wave length looking at day 3 WR’s and CB’s. This would be a good pickup if we lose Kohou in FA.
I would take any one of these 5 safeties.

I think it comes down to a BPA vs draft for need vs one player/position away debate. We have so many holes to fill that I personally feel we’d be overdrafting a Guard (for us) @ R1P13 with so much other talent on the board.
Now that not to say Will Campbell or Kelvin Banks would be horrible selections for us @ R1P13 (if they’re even still on the board)… they are legit candidates for us, and as BBM stated above, they can also play Tackle. That’s a bonus should Paul or Jackson get injured, and with our luck, one or both will get injured for a length of time.
Remember, we’re very likely to sign a solid FA starting Guard via FA. If that’s the case, we’re not going into the Draft trying to fill both (starting) Guard positions. It’s only MY preference to address Guard on day 2 of the Draft with so much talent at the TALENT positions that will be availed to us @ R1P13.
It’s also WAY early in the drafting process at this time. We’ve got the East-West Game, the Senior Bowl, the Combine, and Pro-Days to evaluate. Many will change their preferences between now and Draft Day, including me!
I’d just LOVE to see Campbell or Banks get some action at LG for evaluation. If they look like Zack Martin or Quenton Nelson in doing so, YES… I’d draft them @ R1P13!
Also remember this: we once had an O-Line comprised of all former 1st round picks, but for one. We ended up with one of the worst O-Lines in the NFL that year. I think it was the year we had Jake Long, Mike Pouncey, and Marc Colombo.
Draft status means NOTHING, it’s the dawg in player with his skill-set.
And SCHEME-FIT.

Hey, what would the offseason be without me ranting about the OL getting ignored?! Lol
But, like I said, I really don’t care what position they draft….just get good players. We have lots of needs. I wouldn’t draft a guard at #13 but I wouldn’t avoid it if I felt there was a guy there worth it….and that might be a college OT, like an Eich….but better. I’m leaning DL. That looks to be the strength of this draft, but I leave all options on the table…including trading back. This is a draft I’d rather have a bunch of 2-4th rounders than anything else.
Agreed draft impact players at whatever position. That’s how your roster gets better.
Nolen not doing much at Senior Bowl practices. Boy, I just don’t see him playing inside much. Some IOL looked pretty good so far. Zabel from NDSU stood out a little. Monehiem looked solid. Lots of huge DL but a couple of them haven’t looked good. Mason Taylor looks like an NFL player already. Some kid named Arroyo looked good at TE too. Dart doesn’t look small.
I like to check my own eyeball test with Draft gurus, draftniks, etc. Most say that Nolen has so much upside and could possibly be (if he reaches his ceiling) one of the best picks of the ’25 Draft class.
That makes me feel VERY GOOD!

I clearly recall the times in 2012… where both Russell Wilson and Case Keenum were projected to be 2nd round picks. Wilson fell to the 3rd round and Keenum went undrafted.
Something tells me Dillon Gabriel is going to have a similar fall to Keenum, being he’s undersized. Gabriel is TAILOR MADE for the Coach McDaniel Offense, in every way, without the injury history of Tua.
Methinks these current draft projections of Gabriel in the 2nd or 3rd rounds are OFF… and he falls to day 3 or worse. We should be there to draft him after his fall.

Wyoming, Ryder’s breakdown on Zabel:
I heard, of the OL, Wyatt Milum did not have a good day 1 at the Senior Bowl Practice and OT Emery Jones had the worst day.
Three different outlets said Zabel was the best OL, Josh Conerly close second.
DT Deone Walker played with too high a pad level and struggled some.
Jaxson Dart had the best day of the QB’s. Milroe showed his weakness as a passer.
Tez Johnson was the best WR in route running and separation.
Safety Billy Bowman was one of the top DB’s.
Arroyo shined at TE.

Dolphins assistant OL coach Lemuel Jeanpierre spending some extra time with NDSU OL Grey Zabel before today’s practice. Zabel was awesome yesterday.
I don’t think any of the OTs have looked good.
It’s a poor draft for OT. Most project to move inside. That said there are a few good ones not at the Senior Bowl.
They’re playing Zabel/Monheim/Rodgers on the inside for reps. It looks really good.
Zabel could end up being our pick at #48
BBM,
Belton has looked ok during a couple reps. Conerly looks the part but he’s also looked shaky.
Thanks, I heard Belton was doing ok on day 1 and 1 scout said he was strictly an OT prospect. Is that true? Is he lining up inside at all?
Zabel kicking ass
Lemuel Jeanpierre needs to tell him to tone it down a little so we can get him at #48.
BBM,
I don’t recall Belton getting reps on the inside, but they switch guys up so much I may have missed it.

Zabel has had a couple reps where he’s let guys get into him a little too easy. He tends to set a bit soon and gets his feet caught, but he has a nice anchor when he gets to it. It hasn’t all been rosy, but he’s competed really good for a “small school” guy.
In pass pro right? I think he would still be much better than what we had last year at LG in pass pro and could be a huge plus for us in the run game there.
Looks like it might be down to Weaver or Kellen Moore.
@TomPelissero
Former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has decided to focus on the 2026 hiring cycle and will not coach in the NFL this season, sources tell me and @RapSheet. McCarthy, who has made the playoffs 12 times in 18 seasons, is expected to be a strong candidate a year from now.

Bookman – McCarthy’s a good coach. He has a very good record as a HC, not as great in the playoffs, 11-11. 608 winning % though in the regular season, not too shabby
he had Rodgers in his prime and got run out of town

Lance Zierlein on Walter Nolen…
“Nolen is my top-rated defensive tackle in this year’s draft class because of his explosiveness and productivity on all three downs.
In Tuesday’s practice, Nolen stormed through his one-on-one matchups. He consistently was able to get on top of blockers with a big burst off the snap and pushed them into the pocket with relative ease. There were some up-and-down reps during the scrimmage phase, but overall, Nolen did what he needed to do maintain his standing.”

So it seems Lil’ Willie Lampkin is being viewed as a Center. Hey, that works for me. If he falls to day 3 of the Draft, I think he should be a priority draftee for us. We could do far worse, and he could take the place of Liam Eichenberg as our backup Center.

don’t know a lot about him
but I always like the idea of getting a small school steal later in the draft
Nolen did very little. Yeah, he showed a really quick get off. You definitely saw the athleticism. Knew that already. But, he didn’t finish plays. After his quick burst, he usually ended up being blocked. And I’m talking about in 1-1s….where he should dominate in this format. He didn’t. At all. And then…in the scrimmages he did almost nothing and got stoned playing inside almost every time. A guy with his athletic ability should have shown out way more. But, folks sure seem interested in overhyping him for whatever reason. It’s draft time. Lol
M13,
I just went and read the link. Now I know why Zierlein said what he said. Nolen is his #1 ranked DL. No way will he would do anything but praise him. Lol
I heard Walter Nolan looked good today
Do you guys think 14 is too high for him?
I’d be very happy with a trade-down (not too far), and taking Nolen there. Hopefully we can net enough in the trade-down to be able to trade-up if we need to in the 2nd round for a ‘must-have’ prospect.
Randy,
As ALWAYS, I appreciate your takes, opinions, and assessments. If Walter Nolen isn’t passing YOUR eye-test, it’s noted in my book.
And PLEASE don’t take that the wrong way! I’m not noting you in my book to through it in your face later. Truly, I appreciate your opinions, man.

I’ve been experimenting with taking Jeanty early
I expect it would be pretty unpopular but he may generational back
and if we also take OL early, and we can run the ball in 2025 we might be able to turn this thing around
I don’t think taking a top RB prospect at #13 is too high.
M13,
I don’t dislike Nolen. He has plenty to build on. It’s not that he’s not passing the eye test. He’s just not standing out in a situation that is tailor made for him to. I don’t evaluate guys on a good or bad scale. My preference is just more of a Jalen Carter sort of DL right now. Nolen and Chop playing side by side would be fun to run games with, that’s for sure.

So it seems Lil’ Willie Lampkin is being viewed as a Center. Hey, that works for me. If he falls to day 3 of the Draft, I think he should be a priority draftee for us. We could do far worse, and he could take the place of Liam Eichenberg as our backup Center.
————–
M13, I like his underdog story but I really like Meyer as our backup center. He flashed some last TC/PS. I wish they had brought him in as an OG in place of Eich just to see more of him but they didn’t.
I think Lampkin is a day 3 pick, he won’t fall there. I’m pulling for him to get drafted and get his chance.
Piggy, I don’t think #13 is too high for Jeanty. He is elite at his position. It doesn’t make sense though prior to FA with all our needs.
My only worry with him is his mileage. Boise State ran him into the dirt last year, 661 touches the last 2 years.
Man, he is fun to watch and he is not a small back but rather big at 5’9 215. I posted his highlights a few times here.
I think Jeanty goes to Dallas at #12.
The only DT I am taking at #13 is Mason Graham. The rest I am going to trade down a little for. Mason Graham is that Jalen Carter Randy is talking about, 6’3 and 320. Of all the DT’s in the draft, Draftbuzz rates him as the #1 run defender and #1 pass rush DT. I don’t agree with the #1 pass rush DT but he is a huge disruptor in the pass game. He’s so powerful and quick. Every site I can find does rate him the #1 run defending DT though.
do you think he can play NT?
would interesting to take him early and then in a deep DT draft take another DT later
When you can control the center of the gameplay…..that 5 yard G-G box….it just makes everything else easier. Wilkins was kinda close, but he wasn’t quite that. If there’s a guy like that available when we pick, take his ass. Nolen. Graham. Whom ever. We’ll all find out soon enough.
The guy my gut keeps telling me has the best chance to be that in this draft is Kenneth Grant. He’s got a lot to clean up, but if he commits himself as a pro, I think he could be pretty good.
Couple trade downs, 2 in 1st round. Defensive Rebuild Mock Draft
24. Nick Emmanwori S South Carolina
48. Tyleik Williams DT Ohio State
52. Andrew Mukuba S Texas
84. Savion Williams WR TCU
98. Alfred Collins DT Texas
117. Jay Higgins LB Iowa
122. Charles Grant OT William & Mary
135. Jonah Monheim OC USC
151. Smael Mondon Jr. LB Georgia
156. Cody Simon LB Ohio State
201. Jo’Quavious Marks RB USC
225. Jacob Parrish CB Kansas State
226. CJ West DT Indiana
233. Seth Henigan QB Memphis
237. Jalen Rivers OT Miami (FL)
244. Caden Prieskorn TE Ole Miss
252. Jordan Clark CB Notre Dame
lot of trade downs…lol
Makuba at safety is becoming one of my favorites
he really looks good
I’m curious about the possibility of drafting 2 safeties too
Maybe if we address OL in free agency, we can focus on DT and Safety
That was my thinking.
I actually only traded down 3 times. When I got the trade offers I would counter and get extra late round picks. lol
and I still got some very good OL prospects
Lampkin looked okay. He’s definitely short. If you know how to use leverage, it’s actually an advantage, and Lampkin does. He held up pretty well but did get overwhelmed sometimes. If I’m looking at drafting a C, I’m not sure he’d be in my top 3. I love former wrestlers, but I’d like to see a little more.
I can’t remember ever seeing an OL under 6 feet before
it’s possible that he is available on day 3 just bc of his height
BBM,
Rivers from Miami was probably the next best IOL guy I watched after Zabel, Monheim and Rodgers. He and Rodgers were close.
Rivers is a sleeper at IOL, IMO. Of course, this exposure will cause him to climb draft boards.
OMG. Trump is doing a press conference and looking like my drunk great uncle. Can we just stop allowing our grandpas to run for the most powerful job in the World? What an embarrassment. Age limits, please.
Probably about the plane crash. My second guess would be him bragging about how much they have accomplished in the first 10 days.
@awfulannouncing
Stephen A. Smith: “Cam, if you could give back that league MVP for a Super Bowl championship, would you do it?”
Cam Newton: “No”
——-
He’s still all about “me”. SMH
Never liked the guy. I know Son was a big fan.
I never liked him either, but I’d trade Tua for him in a millisecond
This Arroyo kid has made himself some money this week.
^ He’s gone from a 5th to a day 2 pick and possibly a top 5 TE. The top 6 are nice; Warren, Fannin, Loveland, Gunnar Helm, Mason Taylor and Arroyo.
He’s right there. Someone may like him even more.
The next tier you have Orande Gadsden II, Mitchell Evans, Terrance Ferguson, Luke Lachey, Jackson Hawes (best blocker), CJ Dippre and Caden Priescorn.
he is kind of raw
and in a lot of ways that’s a perfect kid round pick
Teams are going to look at him and say to themselves they can’t wait to coach him
he’s one of my favorites just based on my superficial review so far
maybe I will feel different in April then I do in January – but right now I hope the team is looking hard and Both Arroyo and Orande Gadsen II
They’re making me watch the skill guys’ drills now not OL/DL. So boring. Lol
BBM,
I had no idea who Arroyo was, but he and Taylor have clearly stood out. They both look like NFL players. Hech has also looked good. Different sort of TE but very effective.
I do not know who Hech is.
Tua’s a “me” guy as well. Once he demanded and signed that huge contract, he went from being a team guy to a “me” guy
MikeE,
As I watched Philly’s OL struggle to walk and guys who were supposed to stay on the sideline because they were injured running in to play and the other guy staying in during their playoff game, I thought of our “superstar”, highly paid QB skipping games and just shook my head.
BBM,
My bad, it was Bech from TCU. I think he’s a WR/TE guy. They did talk about him like a TE during coverage. I had no idea who he was.
Yeah Bech would make an interesting slot
Spotrac now says our rollover cap is only 3 million and we are starting out 2025 at over -14 million.
Grier is going to destroy our future cap to make space in 2025.
M13,
Lampkin looking solid again today, and he’s getting snaps at guard.
Lampkin doesn’t look as good at guard when he’s covered.
Randy – Almost every game I watch, especially playoff games, I shook my head because I know my QB can’t do that

I fixed it for you….
I haven’t done the final math, but I think he has already spent close to or over 100 MILLION on the credit card!!!!
LOL, thanks Rock! Yeah, I under stated it a bit
Mike E still obsessed with one of the 100’s of mistakes Grief has made. Tua IS NOT the biggest problem on this team. Not even close.
YOU GET A VOID YEAR! YOU GET A VOID YEAR! EVERYONE GETS A VOID YEAR!! (or two, or three)
Wanted to see what I would miss trading out of the 1st round. Not much and gained some really nice additions.
