Despite the desperate situation both GM Chris Grier and Head Coach Mike McDaniel are in, they need to proceed as responsible stewards for the Franchise, not 2 guys trying to save their jobs. We need difference makers on this roster, and a lot of them. What that means to me, is no trading away picks from the future, and certainly no trading future assets to get players in Free Agency. There are so many roster spots available due to the multitude of 1 year contracts given out last season after signing QB Tua Tagovailoa to a 4 YR/$212.4M contract. When Rock says Tua wasn’t Grier’s biggest mistake, he may be right, he may be wrong, but either way, he was his most expensive mistake. Enough about Tua, this team has to find players that make an impact for this team, and not in a year or two, but now.
I think it would be in the team’s best interest to stay put at #13 and get the best player we can. I have no problem trading back, but if there’s a highly rated player there, get him, don’t get cute and try to get more picks and lose that player. You might just end up with 2 guys who don’t amount to anything when you could have had a safety that changes the secondary, or a TE that transforms the offense, or a lockdown CB, something we haven’t seen here in a while. My point is, we can’t just build the team around Tua hoping we can push him over the hump and make the playoffs and actually compete in a playoff game. I think we could potentially be behind not only the Bills next season, but the Patriots and the Jets as well. The Jets have a new GM, new HC, and 8 picks, #7, #42, #92, #109, #146, #156, #188 and #210. The Patriots have 2nd year QB who might take a step forward in Drake Maye, they have loads of cap space available, tops in the NFL at $125.8M and 9 picks starting at #4 in RD1. Our Dolphins have no cap space, the same guys making the picks that have failed for too long, and GM Chris Grier went all in and failed miserably last season, and let go 2 of our better players to pay an unreliable, oft injured QB who doesn’t play well in either the cold or big games.
Realistically, this season shouldn’t have high expectations unless somehow we have an excellent draft and somehow manage to fill the roster, which at this time looks like close to 30 roster spots, better than possibly expected. In some ways I think that could be a good thing for the team, because with high expectations, we didn’t live up to them at all. My feeling is this team is on a 1 year trial, because unless somehow we overachieve and win a playoff game, or even if I lower the bar a tad and we even actually compete in a playoff game, I think Chris Grier, Mike McDaniel and QB Tua Tagovailoa will all be gone. No new GM is going to want to retain Mike McDaniel as HC, and what GM is going to want to pay a mid QB who can’t play anywhere near up to his huge contract? On the other hand, if Grier gets desperate and uses future assets to try and fix this busted jalopy this season, he should be fired on the spot for that crime.
Every Dolphins fan is worried about the offensive guard spots, believing if Tua has protection, and a bona fide running game as well, this team could compete with the best. While that’s actually possible, what are the odds that GM Chris Grier can fulfill that tall task, and properly identify the right players both in the draft and free agency, with so little money to do so? Well, let’s just say my level of confidence in that duo is truly at an all time low right now. If you have a high level of confidence in Grier/McDaniel, God bless you for you sir, are one supremely optimistic, positive minded son of a gun! The clock is definitely ticking on this regime, although with Stephen Ross apparently asleep at the helm of ownership, maybe that’s only wishful thinking at best.
My plan for this offseason is to go into the draft and get as many impact players as we can. Forget about position, in other words don’t overdraft an OG at #13 when there is a great Safety, TE, DT, EDGE rusher available, just because everyone thinks better OG play will take us to the Superbowl. Honestly, this team is so far from that conversation right now, it’s silly as can be to feel that way. Even the roster spots that at this moment that are filled, there are so many questions. DE/OLB Bradley Chubb, LT Terron Armstead, OLB Jaelan Phillips, I may as well add in WR Tyreek Hill who exited the ’24 season with cryptic messages after the game, after excusing himself from actually finishing Game 17 without notifying his teammates. TE Durham Smythe, RB Raheem Mostert, 2023 2nd RD pick (#51) CB Cam Smith, I mean there really are serious question marks along the top of the roster. Is it possible the team and Hill can mend the relationship? Sure, Coach Mike is everyone’s friend, so it shouldn’t be difficult, but can we really count on Hill? It seemed Hill was just super frustrated by not getting any passes downfield, but when your QB MUST get the ball out in less than 2.0 seconds to try and finish a season (AND FAIL!), this is one of the frustrating aspects of having a fragile QB. Let’s all celebrate Tua’s 72.9% completion percentage when the majority of his passes were 5-10 yards downfield. Of course Hill is going to be frustrated, although for what he get’s paid, he should probably just STFU!
I’m not getting into specifics with the draft just yet, I haven’t done my deep dive at this time, I’m really in a downward spiral as a Miami Dolphins fan right now, I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. I will get to it most likely, no promises, but we have in house a bunch of guys, led by BBM who are fully capable of entertaining those that need their draft fix. Thanks Mike! Anyway, maybe the spring weather will pull me out of the winter doldrums, and maybe if the Mets can finally ink 1B Pete Alonso to a contract extension, I’ll start feeling more positive and upbeat.
GO DOLPHINS!!

Thanks MikeE! Everyone is in full on draft mode now and checking out players, many who I have missed/know nothing about. I just get a MUCH early jump on it. LOL
Let me add that I’d feel a lot more confident if you were drafting rather than Grier. One more year I keep saying to myself, just one more year until we rip this shit up and start all over. I’m well aware that doesn’t always work, especially here in Miami, but you have to try when it’s clear the guys in charge aren’t getting the job done. Same thing with QB, you keep drafting and keep trying. Aim high, don’t settle!
I like Noel if we were to miss on Savion Williams. Might be there early 4th. He’s not the fastest, projected 4.45, but I like his acceleration out of his breaks. Really sets up DB’s well and catches them off guard. Ryder captures that well.
New league year begins and teams can start signing free agents in 40 days, on 12 March. Negotiation period starts 10 March.

Rock and Phelon,
Norse fantasy series, I’m only one book in, but I’m confident it’ll continue to be excellent- The Bloodsworn trilogy by John Gwynne.
Reply
I read the Faithful and the Fallen tetralogy. For the life of me I cannot remember a SINGLE THING about it. I mean, I must have liked the series at least a little. They are big books and all four of them are on my book shelf. I just can’t recall a single detail or character.
Pot head! Keep smoking Rocko! 😛
OR just MAYBE the writing was unmemorable? When it comes to work I can remember the paint color on a project 4 years ago. I don’t have any memory problems (that I can remembers 🤣)
OMG! I’m famous! My name was mentioned right in the article!!
Same lol
I wonder how much different things would have been if Phillips and Chubb would have been healthy and played this year. No idea what the status with both of them is now.
I don’t think much about last season, but counting on Phillips and Chubb was a fools errand. It will be again this season, so let’s see how they handle that.
We didn’t really count on them, they knew it was questionable. Phillips suffered a new injury. Chubb didn’t make it back. Drafted Chop and Mo and patch worked with some other guys. I was saying if they were both good to go. Could have made a big difference.
Yeah, 2025 is another wasted season.
It SHOULD have been wasted as year one of the next rebuild! Now it is just wasted, and so will next year…
WOW, maybe I do have early onset Alzheimer’s! I just went and read the synopsis and the list of main characters from The Faith and the Fallen and NOPE! It doesn’t ring a bell! LOL
I am thinking I was underwhelmed and just read through it mechanically.

Tim – Sorry man, I’m so far past the point of thinking about anything working for us. I think it was a cruel move by Ross to bring back this shit show, especially if he’s actually going to hold them accountable after this season. I just don’t see a path where this team has a respectable season, meaning we make the playoffs, and at the very least, play a competitive game in the playoffs, winning one obviously preferable.
To add, if that’s the case you don’t allow these guys to make important moves in this offseason knowing they’re a little desperate to win now and may hedge the future to have success now.
THIS is what has me terrified for the future of the team.

That is as far as they are allow to push money (5 years) into the future. This DOES NOT include the “regular” dead money from released players.
LAST season we had SEVENTY EIGHT (78) players accounting for dead cap in the amount of 58 milllon
THIS season we “only” have 17 player accounting for 21 Million in dead cap.
It galls me that we had to account for 16M this year for Xavien howard!
Look at that list above!! IT IS MALPRACTICE!

No QB, you’re FIRED!!!!!
So, I was wrong or at least exaggerated. The BOZO has only spent 80 million on future voided contracts. Not the 100 million I stated before adding it up.
Again, this is only for VOIDED contracts. There will be a lot more from future released players that do not have voided years built in.
Mike, I’m just doing a season in review. A healthy Phillips and Chubb were the investment. Chubb had a great 2023 season until the last game of the year. Freak injury. Phillips was really coming on until the Achilles injury. We weren’t going to release them. Replacing them isn’t easy but Chop has a big upside. You can’t blame Grier and Co. for losing two really good players to injury.
The entire season was thrown off kilter and Tua not being available for however many games was a major factor.
Losing too many of your best players is going to catch up with you. The only thing you can do is go after it again next season. I really don’t know what it’s going to look like yet.
An alleged ‘small plane’ went down in Philly within the last hour causing some carnage. From multiple doorbell videos, it didn’t look like a plane going down. Too fast, too much damage, and suspicious. Not saying it was a missile, but it looked like a missile strike… and MANY people are saying it looked like a missile strike.
WTF is going on?
Or a Lear jet…
Friday night music. Speaking of planes going down, this was recorded in 1996 before 2Pac was murdered. Nobody knows exactly what Pac was referencing… “planes falling from the sky”… it’s in the intro about 5 seconds in.
Nice write Mike E
I have as much hope as you do. Lol
I would love to have a handful of people here draft for the organization. Idk how Grier can be so bad at it after seeing what just normal people here come up with.

I think Tyler Warren is a top 15 pick in this draft. I do think he drops a bit since this draft is solid at the TE position. He should be there around 20 though I can see the Colts taking him early and maybe Bengals if they don’t resign Gesicki.

WR Armstrong was a first down machine at Arkansas, he’s 6’4 202. Needs more polish though.
Anyone here who doesn’t draft a QB is FIRED!!!!!!!!
I did, I did!
I don’t know why Seth Henigan doesn’t get more love. He’s a 4 year starter, threw for over 14,000 yards with 104 TD’s to 31 INT’s and 10 rushing TD’s. Before you say 31 INT’s is a lot, that’s a 3.36 TD to INT ratio. If that was his NFL TD/INT ratio, it would rank him 3rd all time in NFL history. Again, 31 INT’s in 1,792 pass attempts is not bad at all.
My only knock is his lower body mechanics which causes him to lose some velocity. That’s fixable. Sign Mariota and groom Henigan.
I think APR would be a decent edge to add on day 3 though he does remind me of Mo Kamara and we don’t need 2 of those. APR had 16 sacks last year, but I don’t see him getting that kind of production in the NFL.
Jalen McLeod would be a decent 7th round ILB prospect. Auburn lined him up on the Edge and moved him around a lot. He’s 6’1 235 but plays twitched up, though sometimes out of control.
If it is time to reboot in 2026, there will be some interesting QB prospects who will be draft eligible.
Arch Manning, 6’4, 224, Texas
Nico Iamaleava, 6’6, 215, Tennessee
Garrett Nussmeier, 6’2, 200, LSU
Drew Allar, 6’5, 235, PSU
Sam Leavitt, 6’2, 200, Arizona State
Haynes King, 6’3, 215, Georgia Tech
Cade Klubnik, 6’2, 210, Clemson
Carson Beck, 6’4, 220, Miami
Miller Moss, 6’1, 200, USC
Conner Weigman, 6’3, 220, Texas A&M
Avery Johnson, 6’2, 197, Kansas State
There are a bunch of others who could make a jump also.
2026 is a much better QB year than 2025
Yeah, IF Manning and Iamaleava declare for the draft.
I vote for piggy’s draft. Two Hawkeyes in it! I mentioned him here before but Xavier Nwankpa might be a steal. Nicely done, piggy. 🤙
there other safety, Castro, also looks good

That’s nice! Hopefully you signed a top OG in free agency. 😉
yeah, this is the “we signed guards in free agency draft”
I figured as much. I have done the same a couple times. That safety tandem would be sick!
Avery Johnson is high on my watch list for this college season. He needs to work on his foot work and lower body mechanics to improve on his deep passing and accuracy.
He is probably one of the best passers on the move in college this year. He makes things happen and can RUN, huge run threat.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Warren. Arroyo and Taylor both looked great this past week, and they are your more traditional TE types. Blocking is something both need to work on. Warren is just a different tool. Do teams go for the tried and true or the Swiss Army knife? I don’t think Warren will have the same impact at the NFL level. He’ll be covered by better athletes. He’ll be blocking better athletes. He’s not a great athlete himself. He’s a baller though. I think he can certainly play a nice roll for teams. I just wonder if teams go away from the standard it seems most go by. I love how Warren plays. I just wonder how it transfers to the NFL.
It’s hard to tell where he grades as a blocker. He graded well in 2023 but not so much in 2024.
A. Thomas from Florida State was one of the guys who stood out in the defensive backfield at the Sr. Bowl practices.
I heard CB Quincy Riley did well also. That’s what I read, I didn’t see with my own eyes.
BBM,
I hardly knew any players outside of the LOS. It was fun watching and just seeing who stood out.
Both the Iowa safeties are interesting. Nwankpa is a box safety who might develop into more. He’s not a great cover guy, but he’s got nice measurables. Castro is a smart dude who just always seems to be in the right place, but he’s not physically imposing at all. Nwankpa is the higher end prospect. Castro is the guy with a lower ceiling but more reliability.

I might be the only one here obsessed with the idea of Jeanty falling to us
but I’m still really obsessed
if we can sign some vet OL in free agency I think we have a lot of room to play with this draft. I would love to see Weaver get some pieces
I just can’t see drafting a RB that high in McD’s offense.
I don’t know that his offense eliminates a stud kind of RB – we just haven’t seen that kind of player yet in his system
that said, you might be right. He certainly has never mentioned anything about the position in the same manner that he said working a TE into the offense was the “next level” like he said last offseason
generally speaking though, I’m not going to draft for McDaniels offense. We don’t really know if he will be here in 2026. Jeanty is probably the best player in the draft not named Abdul Carter.
so if McDaniel had a player like Jeanty and didn’t adjust his offense to feed him the ball, he’s really not much of a coach imo
It was recently reported (by Ian Rapoport, on live air, not via tweet) that the projected NFL cap is likely to go up by nearly $10M for 2025. That’s going to help us a lot, being we need every little bit of help we can get.
So much talk about the Draft, and understandably so… but FA comes first.
First orders of business in FA? A starting Guard, a quality backup QB, and the futures of both T-Stead and FA Calais Campbell.
And perhaps the VERY first matter of FA would be who to cut and when (ie: designated post-June 1st vs immediate termination). We need to create more cap space.
agree on OG being a prioroty
but I’m kinda of read to move past armstead unless he comes real cheap
2024 the cap was 255 million. Spotrac Projects our current 2025 cap at over -15 million and that is with a projected cap at 275 million. A 20 million increase.
If the cap only increases by 10 million, we are in a bigger hole than we thought. Roughly 25 million over that have to get under by March 12th.
OTC is also projecting a 275 million cap for 2025.
Interesting… we’re going to have to do some cap gymnastics once again, and that only kicks the can further down the road.
Here’s a fact of the matter: if Coach McD and GM Chris Grier are on the ‘hot seat’ (make no mistake, they ARE), they cannot rely on their Draft class to save the day. They will need vets to fill the voids.
I all but guarantee that we’ll be signing at least one very good starting Guard via FA. As such, I don’t believe OG will be our target in round 1… especially if we re-sign Isaiah Wynn and move Braeden Daniels into the Guard position he excels at.
That doesn’t mean to ignore the Guard position via the Draft, but I don’t believe it’s necessary to overdraft a Guard @ R1P13.
Like many of you good Mobsters and FMU-ers, I know this roster inside and out. If we don’t address the IDL/DT position early, we’re fucked on Defense. And no, our guy Zach Sieler can’t do it alone… nor did he last season with the STUD Calais Campbell beside him.
Now just imagine if Calais hadn’t signed with us last season… our Defense would likely have been one of the worst in the NFL, truly. It all starts up front in the trenches.
As such, it’s my belief that IDL/DT is the #1 most important position to address in the Draft. And I’m talking about a 3-down DT, not a strict 2 or 1-down NT in running sits at best.
Snap counts
Sieler 70%
Ogbah 69%
Campbell 58%
Hand 53%
we need to replace Calais’, if he doesn’t return, but if he does we’re ok (assuming we’re going to have a down 2025 year)
would like another top drafting DT either way, if possible (draft falling right way)
And here’s my $.02 on our O-Line…
We have a mobile, pulling Center in Brewer. That means we should have two anchors at the Guard positions, or at the very least, one of the Guard positions.
Easy! Trade down for an extra 2nd. Get your fav DT after trade down. Then draft best safety with your first 2nd round pick and OT Grey Zabel with your second 2nd round pick and move him to LG.
Sign a solid (not top dollar) vet OG and resign Wynn. Let the new vet OG, Wynn and Daniels battle it out for the RG spot. Whoever doesn’t win the RG spot, you will have 2 good backups.
Then, draft whoever else floats your boat after that. lol
Piggy – YOU’RE FIRED!!!
Nah, Piggy signed FA QB Marcus Mariota and signed QB Seth Henigan as an UDFA. 😉
Piggy plans on tanking the 2025 season anyway so he can draft Arch Manning in 2026.
that’s right. The draft to draft a qb is 2026
this bunch of QBs aren’t going to replace Tua
^^^
Looks like Bevell is going to the Raiders to ge their OC
BBM,
have you looked into Jack Bech at all? Looks like a decent day three prospect.
Yeah, I like both the big WR’s from TCU. Savion Williams will go earlier but Bech won’t last past the 4th round, IMO.
It was cool to see him catch the winning TD. I didn’t know his brother was killed in the NO terror attack last month. That’s sad!
Who led the game winning 90 yard drive with less than 3 minutes left and threw the game winning TD to Bech? Seth Henigan!
“Henigan had one of the best days under center, finishing 12-of-14 for 132 yards with the game-winning touchdown.”
I know! I read that this morning. Awful
Ryder did a breakdown on Bech. I’ll try to find it.
Luka to the Lakers. Ugh.
stupid trade by Dallas to get an oft hurt aging suoerstar while trading a young generational superstar
agreed. He must have wanted out.
Davis has been bitchin about playing center, and wanted them to trade for one, so he’s been critical of the GM Polinka
Ryder really likes him, but I am not sold on him. He’s got good size but is projected to run a 4.55. Ryder compares him to Puca but I think he is more like a Cracraft.
As a matter of fact, in the 4th/5th round range, there are other WR’s with size I like much more.
Elic Ayomanor, 6’2, 210, projected 4.42
Tory Horton, 6’3, 190, 4.45
Kyren Lacy, 6’2, 213, 4.50
we need to draft our Tyreek replacement, that compliments Waddle a little more, size would be my suggestion
don’t know anything about these guys, but their size is what we need
always thought it was strange to have 2 small speedsters, we’ve paid the price on the goal line and in short yardage
stupid fn 🧁
Bech did pretty well at Sr. Bowl practices. He’s crafty. I don’t think he comps to Puka. His niche might be getting first downs though. Sure handed. Knows how to use his body and read leverage. He’s kind of a Wes Welker-type guy.
Yeah, I was thinking Cracraft myself.
I like Tory Horton as a 5th round prospect. Kind of reminds me of a Devonte Parker type WR.
I really like Kyren Lacy from LSU. He’s big, physical, great body control. He’s probably going to go in the 3rd though.
WR Higgins from Iowa State looked good. Where’s he supposed to go?
Forgot about him, dammit. He’s right there with the other 3rd to 4th round guys. Ayomanor probably goes before any of them and probably second round.
IMO, it’s not that great of a WR class for the early rounds but really solid in the 3rd round range. For that reason, some of these guys may go earlier.

It really IS that simple, to me!
The only thing that would get in my way? Temptation.
What do I mean by that? I mean, the mission should be fortifying the trenches, both sides of the ball. But should a shiny red apple fall to us (name your game-changer), I’d be tempted to abandon the mission.
Draft boards would conclude that should a shiny red apple fall, you claim it.
And THAT is exactly why we want to make the most of FA. And THERE is exactly why we have a problem, being we have so little cap space for ’25.
Our Draft class could be reactionary due to our cap space problemo.
Yes, but I am still thinking about the trenches for the future though. Plus, Seiler isn’t getting any younger.

Seiler, Graham, Nolen on the DL. I like it!
I like it too, but with the most recent mocks I’ve viewed, there’s a better chance Nolen goes Round 1 and Graham in Round 2.
Who knows how it’ll all pan out come Draft Day, but I LIKE IT, TOO!
Really, every mock I have seen Graham is a top 10 pick. Mason Graham not to be confused with the other Michigan DT Kenneth Grant.
That said, I agree, no way Nolen lasts to #48.
I agree 100% Nolen will be day 1 and Kenneth Grant day 2.
Chism is an interesting slot WR option. He is a Welker/Eddleman type WR.
We have Washingtons to play the slot
true
that would be a great draft
graham, Nolan and Schlesinger might be a great trio up front for us
Anither Jeanty draft …
Another draft w/o a QB, which means you know what!

I don’t know either. Skylar got worse every year.

Anyone think we should take a long look at Mehki Becton in free agency
he’s having a good year for the Eagles at OG after flubbing with the jests at tackle
Maybe OG is his spot
he probably has increased his value this season
we will alll get a good look at him next Sunday
I don’t really know if he’s a good fit or not
Not sure about the fit either but he sure would help on 3rd and 1
we might need a QB who can do a tush push without 6 weeks on the IR….

That’s the way to go.

Beer to M
I’m not up to speed on many prospects but what I think we need is interior lineman on both sides of the ball, a seasoned vet backup QB and sprinkle in some new talent throughout. But the biggest questions are Phillips and Chubb. Chop could make a big leap next season, he progressed really well. But Edge depth is questionable.
I agree. I really still think Chubb will be a cap casualty in some fashion. They should resign Quintin Bell to go with Phillips, Chop and Kamara. Hopefully Kamara makes a jump also.
I’ve been looking at late 4th and 5th round edge prospects.
Agreed
Piggy, I know you were just playing around with the Myles Garrett trade.
Joe Schad says Garrett makes 25 mil a year and not an option for the Dolphins with their negative cap situation. I like Joe but he is 100% WRONG. The 25 mil he is throwing out there is probably an average over the life of the contract.
Browns have restructured the hell out of Garrett’s contract and pushed 36.2 mil in dead money over 4 void years (and we thought Grier was bad). Further, the Browns paid almost all his money up front and spread it out in option bonuses. Option bonuses are just like signing bonuses, Browns are on the hook for it and not the team trading for him.
This year, JOE, Garrett’s cap hit is only 19.7 million not 25 mil, BUT 18.4 million of that is an already paid option bonus. That means Garrett is only going to cost a team trading for him his base salary of 1.25 million. THAT’S IT!
We could pre 6/1 release Chubb and clear 1.27 in cap and replace him for Garrett at 1.25 million saving 20K. That 20K could go to a signing bonus for a priority UDFA. lol
The problem is not with the Dolphins cap space currently. The problem is with the Browns cap space. They are in a worse situation than Miami at -27 million. Because of all the option bonus money the Browns gave Garrett, in a pre 6/1 trade the Browns will incur another -16 million in dead cap putting them at -43 million.
That is where the problem comes in for Miami. Browns are going to require a team trading for him to take on that dead money and give up good draft pick(s) because even at 19 .7 mill in 2025 and 20 mill in 2026 is a huge bargain for Garrett.
A contender who has the cap to take on the full amount of his cap and doesn’t care to give up their 1st round pick will get Garrett. It’s a deal I would take. Garrett only just turned 29.
Contenders with the cap and a later 1st to trade for Garrett are the Commanders, Chargers, Lions, Bengals, 49er’s and Broncos.
I didn’t list any contenders who’s QB’s are now free agents.
Also, Schad says we are at -19 million in cap. I wonder where he gets his #’s. Spotract says we are at -15.8 and OTC says -11.6.
@PatMcAfeeShow
“There could be a little bit of interest in Marcus Mariota between the Raiders and Dolphins..
He’s gonna have some choices this offseason”
McAfee brought up a good point. Raiders new OC is Chip Kelly, the OC from Ohio State. Raiders may bypass QB in the top of the draft at #6. Instead, sign a vet and draft QB Will Howard later in the draft who ran Kelly’s offense at OSU last year.
Raiders have the second most cap space in the NFL (95 mil) and could offer Mariota much more than Miami could.

Hey Rock: I am as happy about product being pulled as I am of Canadians booing the US anthem .. stupid ..
At home our beers of choice are Miller lite, Michelob Ultra, and Bud lite … not sure how American they are as I am sure they are all brewed under license in Canada … not happy if I have to change beers a week before our superbowl party .. wife is stopping to purchase today , so see what happens … and apparently with the reprieve on tariffs it’s going back in the shelves 😵💫
As to a trade deficit (sorry) , we are a country of 30 million and are trading with a country of 350 ? Million.. of course we will sell more than we buy 🤷♂️

—————-
DOH! Yes, I mixed up the Michigan DTs. OF COURSE, Graham is going top-10 without question. My bad!
Graham and Grant. Both 1 syllable, both play DT for Michigan, and both start with Gra.
I’m not interested in trading for him, but I have a profound respect for Cooper Kupp.
@CooperKupp
I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.
I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.
2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys..
But coming for it all.
Puka Nacua isn’t happy about it…
@AsapPuka
So I thought it was just the NBA trade season
The Cleveland Browns… LOL
Let this be a lesson to every GM from now to the end of time: the fact of the matter is they attached so much $$$ (and fully guaranteed, to boot!) to the massage parlor pervert (Deshaun Watson), that they cannot even retain their best draft pick of the last 40+ years… Myles Garrett.
Makes me feel much better about Tua’s contract when put into perspective. At least we weren’t THAT damn foolish, right?
Yet sadly, the Brownies have experienced a playoff win more recently than us Phins… granted, it wasn’t with Watson.
MISTAKE BY THE LAKE!!!
Eh, that’s like comparing Stalin and Mao Zedong. I can’t give credit to either of them.
Not only that, as I posted yesterday, they screwed themselves with the restructure on Garrett pushing 36 mill to void years.
I’m missing the Hulkster and Old Dolfan! Where are you guys?
Hulk was mad about something, can’t remember what. I think he said he would be back around draft time. I could be wrong.
Don Strock, former Dolphins QB was just on WQAM with Joe Rose. What a great listen. He was talking to Joe about how the game has changed, how guys played hurt and wouldn’t come out of a game, and also how Don Shula told Dan Marino, Mark Duper and Mark Clayton to take a seat in a Dolphins playoff game against the Bills late in the game, some time in the 4th quarter, and Marino told Shula, I started this game, I’m going to finish it, and Duper and Clayton are coming back in with me!
Strock was talking about QB Jayden Daniels and how the Commanders have a window to build around him and make the team better, and how the Dolphins should have done the same thing. They had that 5th year contract and they could have used the money to keep some players, and of course, he didn’t bring up how much less Tua would get paid after missing 6 games this season. He wouldn’t get anywhere near the contract he signed, and if he did, not only should Grier be fired, he should be shot!
Forgot to also say that Strock was asking if the Dolphins are going to make Tyreek Hill a Captain again next season. Can’t do it, that would be a fucking disgrace.
^
I don’t think it is a must at #13 but won’t be upset about it.

Dolphinstalk says we should draft QB Kyle McCord early day 3. Not sure how I feel about it. I don’t know if he will ever make it as a starter.
I view McCord as the next Chad Henne.
Cooper Kupp is going to cost a team trading for him 20 mill a year at 32yo. Good luck with that Rams.
Because of the cost they are projecting Rams will only get a day 3 pick for Kupp and maybe a second late day 3 pick in 2026.
Full suit with a baseball cap angries up the blood.

POLL Result: 65 percents of respondents says Miami Dolphins should take a GUARD in Round 1
———–
2,432 responded to poll, 65% said OG, 17% DT, 11% safety, 7% linebacker
He better be the best player on the board!
Can’t just say position, the value has to be there. We have a few positions where we can take the BPA.
I have no problem taking an OG in rd 1, but if it’s at 13 he better be a generational one
would rather trade down and get 2, if OG is that important
He has to be an immediate starter and building block on the OL.
I agree with everything Don Strock said…lol
Best back up ever…lol
Glad I finally found a Dolphins WordPress cant wait, also I think we should go out and get Malaki Starks or a Pass Blocker like Kelvin Banks Jr.

————
Precisely. He’d better be a Zack Martin or Quenton Nelson. Quite honestly, I don’t see it @ R1P13 in this Draft class… which is very weak at the top with the IOL positions.
We can meet BPA at a position of need outside of the IOL @ R1P13, and address the IOL on day 2 where value meets need.
Right that’s what I’m saying. You don’t take Levi Brown over Adrian Peterson. 😜
RIGHT! And ya don’t Ted Ginn and his family over Patrick Willis, either! 😀
Yep!
I’m not trying to diss Joe Schad when I say this, I’m just sayin’ that he and his readers/followers aren’t exactly who I’d take a poll from. I think Schad is a good guy and decent reporter, but he lacks the insight that many of us have here over the years.
True, still many here agree with his poll in taking OL or DL in the first round.
I am leaning DL myself.
Tim,
I was watching Rich Eisen earlier and he was interviewing Louis Riddick. What did Riddick have to say about the Eagles-Chefs* Super Bowl matchup? They both built from the inside out, fortifying their trenches.
You instantly came to my mind, being you’ve been about that for YEARS now. Most teams still want to get that trifecta on Offense (QB-RB-WR), and most teams still want to get that trifecta on Defense (CB-EDGE-MLB).
Fact of the matter is that it’s ALL won or lost in the trenches… even in today’s pass-happy NFL.
FA comes first…
Re-sign: Calais Campbell, DL, Phins; Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Phins; Benito Jones, DT, Phins; Tyrel Dodson, LB, Phins (AAS, per Spotrac: $5.0M/year); Kader Kohou, DB, Phins; Isaiah Wynn, OL, Phins; River Cracraft (AAS, per Spotrac: $1.1M/year);
— Marcus Mariota, QB, Redskins (AAS, per Spotrac: $4.2M/year)
— James Daniels, RG, Stealers* (AAS, per Spotrac: $7.8M/year)
More to come…
More to come…
I was wondering which FA safety you would target.
Ha! Still doing my homework on that one, my Brother.
Remember, Tyreek says we need more dogs…
I wish we could slap him because he doesn’t realize his contract is keeping us from signing those dogs.

Been happening to me also on that simulator. I ended up taking him first a few times when I traded down to the bottom of the 1st round.
BBM,
I’d most certainly entertain my former ‘man-crush’ Richie Grant as a potential FA Safety for us. Back-to-back 100+ tackle seasons in ’22 and ’23, he’s a BALLHAWK, and Spotrac’s AAV for him: $5.3M/year.
Yes… add him to my FA list.
100%, only reason he didn’t start a bunch last year was because Falcons signed high dollar FA safety Simmons. He still played a lot and been solid since his rookie season.
FA comes first…
Re-sign: Calais Campbell, DL, Phins; Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Phins; Benito Jones, DT, Phins; Tyrel Dodson, LB, Phins (AAS, per Spotrac: $5.0M/year); Kader Kohou, DB, Phins; Isaiah Wynn, OL, Phins; River Cracraft (AAS, per Spotrac: $1.1M/year);

We need to clear at least $33M to make these signings.
I’m glad you made room for Benito Jones
I thought he played well for us last year and I hope we re-sign him
it would be nice to draft a big DT on day 3 and give him a chance to develop
this draft is so deep at DT, I think we can probably find a good one late
are you opposed to signing 2 Page instead of a safety
I kind of like the idea of bringing in a lot of young draftees on defense at the same time – keeping Weaver might be the best thing we have going for us right now, and giving him a chance to mold young players might really help us a lot
”signing 2 OGs” not page….lol
“are you opposed to signing 2 (DTs) instead of a safety?”
————–
I think that’s a very good question, Pigster. Me… I’m all for signing a NT on day 3 of the Draft, to complement a DT we draft early.
I think we almost have to draft a Safety, even if we sign one in FA.
There’s no ONE WAY to skin a cat… it’s all about addressing our needs via FA and the Draft when it’s all said and done.
IF we can accomplish as much, we’re contenders again in 2025.
And like you, I too think Benito Jones is good for us!
contenders again is laughable
as long as 🧁 coaches soft and is everyone’s friend we’ll be let down
we can trade Tua for Mahomes and make all of these FA moves you suggested and we still won’t be contenders late in the season

”signing 2 OGs” not page….lol
————
Two OGs? I think we have to go for one on day 2 of the Draft, and I’m absolutely SURE we’re going to sign a legit one via FA.
Do we need to sign two (starting) OGs via FA? Hmmmm… I think it would be cost-prohibitive, to be honest.
I think Braeden Daniels is going to be a force for us. Washington was too foolish to utilize him as a Tackle… he’s a golden Guard, and now he’s ours.
*too foolish to not utilize him as a Guard
Daniels could end up being a huge steal at the end of the season when we poached him for the OG position.
M13, I liked your draft last night! Jordyn Brooks is a stud and it would be great to find his perfect compliment. Brooks had 143 tackles, 11 TFL, 3 sacks and 6 PD’s with a revolving door at ILB playing next to him due to injuries.
Jihaad Campbell might be that guy. He’s probably my favorite ILB in the draft.
Resign Dodson (like you said), draft Campbell and we will be really solid at ILB. Even could resign Walker as a backup on the cheap again. Dodson was just coming on in the scheme by the end of the season.
Also like your double down at Safety. Moore is solid and my 2 fav safeties in the 7th round are Jonas Sanker and Shilo Sanders. I like Sanker a little more because of the added size, but in the end it’s not the size of the dog in the fight it’s the size of the fight in the dog.
overthecap has us at 270m for 2025, if the cap goes up 20m, that puts us at 5m under
last year the cap went up 30m, so at 15m under we would be able to make some decent moves
if you believe Spotrac we’re 15m over with their projected 20m increase or 5m with 30
trading out of 13 would help too, we could drop to 23 and also get GBs 2nd+
I’m leaning towards Warren in 1st, OG in 2nd, and a DT with our next pick wherever it falls, then S
pretty sure we won’t be counting on a rookie S to start

————
Thank you! And regarding Jihaad Campbell, the more I study him, the more I think he could be a real difference-maker for us. I’d wanted to reserve that role for Iowa’s Jay Higgins, but Campbell is elite in pass-coverage and an outright STUD at ILB.
Campbell would be BPA meshing with a position of need. But the key? To address as much as we can via FA in order to put ourselves in a position to draft Campbell.
FA comes first…
Re-sign: Calais Campbell, DL, Phins; Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Phins; Benito Jones, DT, Phins; Tyrel Dodson, LB, Phins (AAS, per Spotrac: $5.0M/year); Kader Kohou, DB, Phins; Isaiah Wynn, OL, Phins; River Cracraft (AAS, per Spotrac: $1.1M/year);
— Marcus Mariota, QB, Redskins (AAS, per Spotrac: $4.2M/year)
— James Daniels, RG, Stealers* (AAS, per Spotrac: $7.8M/year)
— Richie Grant, S, Falcons (AAS, per Spotrac: $5.3M/year)
We’re going to have to clear nearly $35M in cap space to make this happen.
We won’t have a problem in clearing that much cap space… but *how* we do it could be a problem for future seasons.
There are always possibilities… one can trade up, stay put, or trade down from R1P13.
So I wonder… IF we were to trade up, who would it be for and what would the cost be?
Methinks the only player I’d trade up for is Mason Graham, and he’ll cost us dearly in trade compensation. No can do. I’m NOT trading up this year.
In my most recent draft simulator, Mason Graham fell to #11 for the 49ers. Just to trade up 2 spots cost us our ’26 2nd rounder. Too rich for my blood.
And… Mason Graham isn’t going to fall outside of the top-10!
I agree. Yeah, every once in a while he is there on the simulator but rarely. Two of the main players I like at #13 won’t be there for us.
YUP!
This Draft class is definitely light at the top, IMO.
Know what that means? It’s highly likely a name being discussed in the 2nd round becomes a 1st rounder… and a late-projected 1st rounder goes in the mid-rounds.
Trade down… but don’t trade TOO FAR down, if ya really want your target.
Yep, I think it is wise to trade down.
Just for instance… do NOT trade down from R1P12 to R1P28, as we had in the 2010 Draft.
Trade down a few spots at BEST.
That is… if you have your eyes on a certain player in the 1st round.
Not trade down past the Chargers at #22 for me.
