As we watch from afar at the two best teams ready to meet in Super Bowl 59, it’s easy to see as a realistic fan that our team will not get anywhere near a Super Bowl perhaps until at least the low to mid 60’s. We have to go through the agonizing 2025 season with this team stuck in neutral at best, trying desperately to make the playoffs and once again realize we don’t belong there anyway. This past season, the supposed Super Bowl run of 2024 Miami Dolphins was a fatally flawed team. One of our best players was a very late free agent signing in 16 year veteran DL Calais Campbell. The other was an older free agent signing who signed 3 years ago and at age 34 may return in 2025, as may DL Calais Campbell. If I were Calais Campbell, I’d look to play on a contender, which clearly precludes playing for the Miami Dolphins. If I were the Miami Dolphins front office and/or coaching staff, I’d only have Terron Armstead back as a backup, as our young LT Patrick Paul, who we drafted in RD2 (#55) gets his chance to be a full time bona fide NFL starting LT.
This team is going to have a major overhaul in 2025, there will be 25-30 roster spots occupied by players that were not on the roster in 2024. Yes, all this after GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel telling Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross that this team was a Super Bowl contender. Sure, there were some setbacks, the team lost OLB Jaelan Phillips to a torn ACL in game 4 after he worked so hard to get back from a torn achilles injury in 2023. OLB Bradley Chubb, who tore his ACL in 2023 never actually made his return last season. Then of course QB Tua Tagovailoa missed a career high 6 games last season, first with a concussion (no way!), and then with a hip injury, yes, the very same hip that concerned the team in the first place that was injured when he played at Alabama. The Dolphins were really exposed as totally inept as they panicked and scrambled to bring in 2 QB’s off of other team’s practice squads and then immediately have them start, QB’s Tim Boyle and Tyler Huntley were put in immediately, into an overly complicated offensive scheme, and weren’t given much help by HC Mike McDaniel who didn’t appear to simplify things for them as was an atrocious amount of penalties like false start, and motion penalties. To add salt to the wounds, even supposedly educated NFL commentators would compare and contrast the team’s success with QB Tua Tagovailoa to the 3 QB’s that replaced him to show how valuable he is. It was akin to throwing a second grader in to play QB for the High School varsity team. Just a disgrace, and further proof how wrong this team was giving a QB with a lengthy injury history that massive contract.
If you look at the composition of the two Super Bowl teams, you can see that both of these teams are very physical. The Chiefs have slipped a bit on the O-line, especially compared to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are bullies on the O-line, and combine that with their athletic QB who is a threat to run at any time, it makes the actual ground game of RB Saquon Barley even more dangerous. Having that threat of Jalen Hurts keeping the ball and taking off leaves the defense vulnerable for Saquon, and the passing game as well. The Chiefs have a very physical defense led by DT Chris Jones, and DE/LB George Karloftis, who reminds me a lot of Kyle Van Noy, formerly of the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and now Baltimore Ravens. Looking at all final 4 teams, they all have an athletic QB who can run the ball as well as throw it. The Buffalo Bills with MVP QB Josh Allen, the Washington Commanders with QB Jayden Daniels, 2024 Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, the Philadelphia Eagles with Jalen Hurts, and of course the Kansas City Chiefs with QB Patrick Mahomes, who is going for the Threepeat. You can see where the trend is going, and you can also see that our team is going in the wrong direction. Our young 27 year old QB will be asked to stay in the pocket, not to risk injury by rushing the ball, because inevitably, this will lead to injury. We’re going to have build an impenetrable wall around Tua, and not allow him to absorb any hits from the defense. Yeah well, good luck with that!
All I can hope, as I’ve mentioned here before, is our GM Chris Grier, and our Head Coach don’t try and mortgage the future in a futile attempt to win now. What that translates to is not trading any future picks away, and building the team correctly. Not drafting for now only, but also drafting for the future. Don’t restructure contracts and add more cap deficit in future seasons to sign players now. In other words, build responsibly, not impulsively. Build as if you’re going to be here for another decade, not as if this is potentially your last year. Easy for me to say, my job isn’t on the line, but to be fair, with Stephen Ross in charge, it’s hard to believe their jobs are actually in danger anyway, despite the fact the we here all realize they have to be.
Enjoy the game, and observe the things we don’t have, need to have, but probably won’t have, at least through 2025, and hope for better things to come for this team soon!
Happy Super Bowl LIX !!

Will it work? Is Elon Musk downsizing the blog, and I’ve been cut?
I didn’t hire Elon to cut out blog waste, because all of my articles would be cut out!
I couldn’t post last night. Obviously I can now. 😂
If you miss on a safety early, Lathan Ransom 6’1, 210 might be a steal at #115. He’s superb vs the screen and run game. Possibly the best run defending safety in the draft.
I was having issues with the box yesterday too. The avatar and “Comment” button were missing and no matter how many times I closed the page, cleared my cache and cookies, it wouldn’t work. Obviously it’s working for me now.
Is it?
What I wanted to say last night was, I don’t think getting this team back on track is that difficult. We have good players, we need certain positions upgraded.

Nah man, I really like Grant’s skills in the ZBS. Probably the best at it in the draft. I have taken him many times in my mocks. Only said something when when I saw Lampkin also. Would love to have Grant as one of the OL we draft.
————–
I’m going to let ya in on a little secret, just make sure nobody else knows… 😆 … I have the propensity to get hung up on certain players. 😉
If this season has taught me anything (and just look at the Super Bowl), we need to get BIGGER in the trenches. So when I posted the last Draft simulation with Grant and Lampkin, I was reverting to players I’m still hung up on.
Especially with the light-in-the-pants Brewer at Center, I think it’s important for our Guards to be able to MAUL in short-yardage sits. Grant is 300 pounds and Lampkin is like 280 pounds soaking wet: that won’t work with Brewer at Center, who is barely 300 pounds to begin with. But again, I get hung up on certain players… especially O-Linemen who fit our OZBs to a ‘T’.
I (and hopefully Grier and McD as well!) need to rethink what we’re doing on the O-Line or we’ll be pissing in the wind again, IMO.
I’m going back and finding guys who are 320-330 pounds who can move DTs and who are also relatively fleet-of-foot to pull when asked to. You know, similar to Robert Hunt… who we should have re-signed in hindsight.
That is my post-Super Bowl vision for our O-Line. Still love Grant and Lampkin, but I think we’ve gotta get BIGGER.
Saw a mock draft earlier (don’t recall who it was from, I view so many) that suggested drafting Walter Nolen to play EDGE opposite of a stud EDGE player on a team (not ours). Let’s just say for example Nolen playing EDGE opposite of TJ Watt, but it wasn’t the Stealers*.
My jaw dropped, not in a good way. This mockster (who was somewhat reputable, I don’t mess with the ‘Joe Blows’) must think Nolen weighs around 250 pounds, SMH.
Now, Nolen HAS lined up ‘wide-9’ (he’s got the speed and burst), albeit very sparingly. He’s a 300-pound IDL who destroys running games. WTF would a mockster project him to be an EDGE player at 300 pounds???
So me speaking of me getting hung up on players (HaHaHa!), Walter Nolen is going to be a STUD, IMO. He’s got the frame to add a lot more weight if necessary.
He damn near looks (relatively speaking, of course) thin playing between 290-305 pounds.
Truly, I think he’s going to kill the Combine (watch his 40-time). Afterwhich, I don’t believe we’ll have the luxary of trading down from R1P13 and still land him.
*luxury.
I did this exercise over a decade ago regarding interior O-Linemen in the WCO and posted it.
If one has a pulling Center (check: Aaron Brewer), it’s best to have two anchors at the Guard positions.
If one has an anchor at Center, it’s best to have two pulling Guards.
Now, and quite obviously(!), ya want your interior O-Linemen to be able to generate push in short-yardage sits when it’s man-on-man… we lack that, sorely.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT saying to have strict road-graters at the Guard positions… they need to be able to move laterally at least fairly well in our OZB scheme, just not necessarily at an elite level. An elite level would require Guards to be undersized and under-weight when it comes to pushing in short-yardage sits.
I’m not even necessarily saying we need TWO Guards to be Robert Hunt, but one MUST be capable of moving and destroying DTs and even NTs.
I’m planting my flag on this hill and I’ll die on it, trying to make our O-Line great again.
Friendly reminder…
Once we can run the ball again (Mostert, Achane, and company didn’t forget how to run!), one of the two-deep Safeties will have to come up into the box to stop the 6-7 yard gains at a clip.
And once that happens, Tua to ‘Reek and Da’ Penguin is nearly impossible to defend against.
NFL combine starts in 11 days. NFL free agent signing and new league year starts in 27 days and teams will have to be under the cap (top 51).
We actually have 2 DT’s on the roster, not just Seiler. I keep forgetting we signed NT Neil Farrell Jr, 6’4 325. He was Benito’s backup last year but only played 65 snaps.
We kind of knew this already.
#28 Miami Dolphins
GRADE: 65.2 (D)
The Dolphins’ season could best be described as disappointing, and their tackling struggles were no exception. The Miami defense missed tackles at the fourth-highest rate in the league (14.5%) while allowing the fifth-most extra yards after those misses (1,019). An alarming 10 Dolphins defenders surrendered 50 or more yards after missed tackles, a total surpassed only by the Panthers (11). The unit also forced just seven fumbles all year, the third-fewest in the NFL. David Long Jr. was cut midseason after missing 17 tackles on 55 attempts and finished the season with a 68.3% efficiency, the worst by any player in Next Gen Stats since 2018, the year tackle data began to be tracked (minimum of 50 attempts).

LOL at Jets moving on from Rodgers. They gave him too much guaranteed money to include 35 mill spread over 4 void years. A pre 6/1 release or trade and they incur an extra 25.5 mill cap hit. They will have to make it a post 6/1 move that will clear 9.5 mill this year but 35 mill in 2026 dead cap.
Though they can counter act that with a pre 6/1 release of Devonte Adams. His release will clear 30 mill in 2025 cap.
They will still have QB’s Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis and Adrian Martinez on the roster.
I’m thinking they draft QB Ewers or Dart at #42.
Wow, Bleacher Report’s latest mock has DT Walter Nolen going to the 49er’s at #11. They do have a huge need at DT.
More interesting (or crazy), they have the Dolphins taking OT Grey Zabel at #13. They say he is a day 1 starter at either OG position and compare him to last drafts Graham Barton.
Ongoing poll (I voted walk):
Should the Dolphins allow Jevon Holland to walk in free agency, re-sign him, or franchise tag him?

re-sign, but don’t give him the farm.
4 hours without a post!? Did I kill the blog?
The Dolphins front office killed the blog
The front office definitely has some work to do.
Spotract predicts Jevon Holland will get a contract around 4yrs at 60 mill, 15 mill average per is less than what others were saying.
They also say that the Colts could be the front runners to signing him.

I would love to get WR Savion Williams he won’t last to #98 though.

too good to be true…lol
but I’ll take it in a second
Landet Barton is a good coverage LB and might be a good fit for us
That’s a good one
Savali never lasts to #48 for me
Me either, I got lucky. lol
BBM,
Did some digging for potential IOL (that includes Tackles) who are 320-330 and fleet-of-foot in this Draft class… not looking good at the moment. IMO, we’ve got to get at least one Guard via FA who fits that bill and rocks.
However, I did come across Marcus Wehr, OG, Montana State, 6’3″, 298, with a reported 4.97 40-time. He played in the East-West Shrine Game and has all the traits of our OZB. Looks like a late day 3 prospect, but that shoe fits our scheme.
Thanks, I will keep him in mind as a late round guy.
since we are talking OGs
what’s the deal with Zack Martin. Is his career over? He’s a free agent this offseason.
Pigster, last I’d heard (a couple of weeks ago), Martin may be contemplating retirement. He’s been banged up pretty badly over the last couple of years.

19. Miami Dolphins (19): Apparently they’ll run it back with HC Mike McDaniel, QB Tua Tagovailoa, apologetic WR Tyreek Hill, et al. What’s that saying about the definition of insanity?

Lmao!
Couldn’t have said it better by myself. Glad other people from the outside see what a fucking fraud this team is, and how bringing back Grier and MM and Tua was madness!
