If you’re old enough to know to who is in the picture above, you’re old enough to have experienced some good Miami Dolphins teams. Not necessarily Super Bowl Champs, but the Dolphins were legit contenders. Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel are assembling a group of pretenders. I’ll give them one bit of credit here, they haven’t yet restructured the contracts of QB Tua Tagovailoa or WR Tyreek Hill, so they have shown some restraint, at least so far. I’m going to go over every player we signed and understandably with little money to play with, we got players who don’t earn big contracts. Translation of that is we got players that if they were starters, they weren’t good ones, but in many cases, we got part time starters, and now in some cases, we might be relying on them to be more. I’m going to touch on the biggest head scratcher as far as I’m concerned.
QB Zach Wilson – 6’2 214 – 25 YO – 1YR/$6M
QB Tua Tagovailoa if he plays to win, and not just to get through a game, or the season, is going to get injured. Last season, Grier and McDaniel should have got fired for the most absurd way they handled the backup QB situation, considering we have a “Crystal Chandelier” for a QB. Grier and Mike McDaniel felt completely comfortable with 3rd year QB Skylar Thompson, who had 2 game starts under his belt in 2 seasons. Now granted, they see players in camp, and see the way they play and we don’t, but they had to realize that the 2023 season for Tua Tagovailoa was the fluke, the outlier, and that he was likely going to miss time with injuries. Here’s the thing, if they saw something in Zach Wilson that they liked, give him a 2 or 3 year deal so you can have an opportunity to develop whatever it is you think you saw, but a 1 year contract makes zero sense. If we were truly looking for a QB who can step in win, surely it’s not Zach Wilson who didn’t play a damn snap last season and was the THIRD STRING QB BEHIND JARRET STIDHAM!!! It’s not the money either here, because we paid Wilson $6M this season, but why??? If it was investment in a player we wanted to develop, then as I said, sign him to a 2 or 3 year contract, but if you really think he’s the best candidate to keep this team afloat when Tua gets hurt, YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS! QB’s Marcus Mariota, Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Carson Wentz, all would have been better choices, especially if it was just one season we were looking for.
OG James Daniels – 6’4 327 – 27 YO – 3YR/$24M
I really like James Daniels, nice solid starter. Potential problem though is he’s coming off of a major injury he incurred last season for the Steelers, September 30th. Granted, it’s been some time now, and we saw freak athlete Jaelan Phillips come back quickly from his achilles, but in the trenches, all you do is push off and use your legs, every single play, so will James Daniels be up to starting immediately and handle the majority of the snaps? Time will tell. Love the player, don’t like the circumstances for our particular situation, where we need him to be great now.
LB Tyrel Dodson – 6’0 237 – 26 YO – 2 YR/$8.25M
Dodson played very well for our Dolphins last season coming over mid season after being released by the Seattle Seahawks. He had 3 INT’s for us in 9 games, which is more than our entire secondary. He fits nicely inside next to Jordyn Brooks, and this is one signing I was quite pleased with. The money was good, and for a change, it wasn’t a one year contract. This is what I keep stressing to you folks though, this team is put together with spit and gum. So many one year contracts, just so we can pay WR Tyreek Hill, DB Jalen Ramsey, and QB Tua Tagovailoa. Hate to say it, but that core isn’t going to win you anything!
WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine – 6’2 211 – 28 YO – 2 YR/$6.5M
Once again, I like the signing, and yes, I’m happy it’s a 2 year deal. We need a bigger bodied WR to balance out the the lack of size in our WR corps, (Hill 5’10 190), (Waddle 5’10 185), (Malik Washington 5’9 181), and (Tahj Washington 5’10 174). Of course TE Jonnu Smith played a lot like a WR, but you’d have to think Jonnu is going to get a lot more attention this season, so having another big will help. Westbrook-Ikhine averaged a heady 15.5 YPR last season on 32 catches for 497 yards and an impressive 9 TD’s. More than 1/4 of his receptions ended up in the end zone.
S Ifeatu Melifonwu – 6’3 210 – 26 YO – 1 YR/$3M
This one is likely a depth signing. Melifonwu started only 3 games last season, and 14 starts in his 4 year career with the Lions. He began as a CB, but shifted to safety in his second season. I suppose he could be depth at both spots, considering how tenuous both positions are for this team are right now. I would absolutely expect an early draft pick used on a safety, but hopefully not our first. Again, a 1 year contract on a team riddled with them. Nothing like needing 25-35 new people on your team every season.
OT Larry Borom – 6’5 333 – 26 YO – 1YR/$2.5M
Hopefully this is another depth signing. In 4 seasons with the Chicago Bears, Borom started 26, including just 4 last season. He doesn’t look like starting material, but every team needs depth players, and boy have we dipped into that pool on the O-line heavily the last few seasons. LT Terron Armstead’s return is still up in the air, and even if he comes back, I strongly hope LT Patrick Paul is the starting LT all season long and he plays like a competent starting NFL LT. Austin Jackson is hopefully the bookend for Paul, and Borom is just his backup.
S Ashtyn Davis – 6’1 202 – 28 YO – 1YR/$2.5M
Davis has been another part time starter in his 5 year career with the New York Jets. He somehow has 8 INT’s in 22 starts, so he’s around the football. I think he may given an opportunity to compete for a starting safety position, especially considering that the only other safeties on the roster are S Patrick McMorris who hasn’t started a game, and our other safety signing, Ifeatu Melifonwu. I wouldn’t be surprised if we draft 2 safeties in ’25. Guess what? Another 1 year signing. We have 11 picks in this draft, it seems like better hit on close to half of them if we ant to have a decent start for 2026.K.J. Britt
LB K.J. Britt – 6’0 235 – 25 YO – (Salary not yet published, probably $2M or less, 1 year deal)
K.J. Britt played 14 games and started 11 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s probably also a depth signing, and replaces Anthony Walker Jr. who played for us last season, and oddly enough will be suiting up for the Tampa Bay Bucs. As of this writing, his salary and contract length were not known.
RB Alexander Mattison – 5’11 220 – 26 YO – (Salary not yet published)
Nice signing, Mattison brings a little size to the RB room, and mostly a depth RB. Mattison has never eclipsed 500 yards in a season. He was behind RB Zamir White last season in Vegas, and before that, split time with as the lead back with Cam Akers in Minnesota in ’23, and as the backup to RB Dalvin Cook previous to that. With the departure of RB Raheem Mostert and also Jeff Wilson Jr., Mattison fits in nicely with Achane and Wright. I’d expect us to pick up a few RB’s after the draft as UDFA’s, and possibly draft one as well.
Besides the signings listed, the Dolphins re-signed a few players such as S/CB Elijah Campbell, OLB Quinton Bell, OT Jackson Carman and WR D’Wayne Eskridge. We also re-signed OL Liam Eichenberg, who was a big surprise, to me at least. Versatile, in that he plays nearly every position, but you just hope he doesn’t have to play any of them. I like his willingness to play through pain and his sacrifice of his body, but despite his numerous starts (52), you figured he couldn’t wait to play somewhere else. With the exception of Eskridge, no player re-signed was even $2M, so all minimal expenditures, and yes, you guessed it, one year deals. That’s the norm here, just find a bunch of players that fit into the salary cap, and take it from there. The draft is always important, but this draft for GM Chris Grier is really in the spotlight.
The draft is always important, but this draft for GM Chris Grier is really in the spotlight. This roster has some monstrous holes to fill. Are we going to rely on either of the safeties we signed, Melifonwu and Davis or do we need to find 2 starters there? We must find not just a starting LG, but a good one. We’ve been dealing with subpar OG play which at the very least gives some excuses to the Tua apologists. We need an OG to step in day one and provide better than average protection for QB Tua Tagovailoa, but also open up inside running lanes for RBs De’Von Achane, Jaylen Wright and Alexander Mattison. In addition, they have to knock back opposing defenses off their feet to allow this team to convert short yardage downs, especially 3rd and 4th down attempts, where this team has struggled miserably recently.
To continue with the importance of this draft, we almost certainly have to find a starting CB. Are we really going to trot CB Cam Smith or Storm Duck or Kader Kohou out there opposite Jalen Ramsey? I think not, and our secondary was abysmal last season with Kendall Fuller and his concussions, and the combo of Cam Smith, Kohou and Duck, along with safeties Jordan Poyer and the recently departed Jevon Holland. We need to improve the secondary significantly, Jalen Ramsey and Kader Kohou both had 2 INT’s, and that was it! We don’t know whether LT Terron Armstead is coming back, and in my opinion, even if he does, we need to have Patrick Paul starting games at LT as long as he’s healthy.Chiefs who has played in 40 games over 6 seasons but started zero, and Neil Farrel who was played in 19 games over 6 seasons and started zero. Not so sure Calais Campbell is coming back to save Chris Grier this season, so we must find a NT and a DE/DT that can start immediately. When I say this roster is empty, of course I’m exaggerating, but this article illustrates (hopefully) how desperate things are. Finding a better than average OG, at the least starting CB and possibly 2 safeties, and then more daunting, finding a starting nose tackle and DE/DT all in the draft, and then potentially after the draft after vets are cut and you pick up the scraps. That’s become the team “building” strategy for one Chris Grier, and I for one can’t stand it.
Last year we had 7 picks, and I’d say Chop Robinson looks like a potentially successful one. LT Patrick Paul less so, especially considering they’re still looking at bringing back Terron Armstead. If they knew Paul had the goods, that wouldn’t be the case. Jaylen Wright will probably get a lot more action this season, but he was scarcely used last season for whatever reason. WR Malik Washington looks like a potentially decent WR in the slot, and his proved his mettle as a return man. DE/OLB Mo Kamara and Patrick McMorris are question marks. In ’23, Ugh! Cam Smith still can’t find the field, Achane is great, Elijah Higgins and Ryan Hayes are gone. ’22 no better, although I believe we re-signed DE Cameron Goode, but he has played quite sparingly, and Channing Tindall, Skylar Thompson and WR Erik Ezukanma not good. We do have 10 picks, 7 of them in the top 155. While quantity is OK, I feel like this particular draft, if we’re going to be competitive this season needs quality over quantity. I feel like we have to find get a handful of quality starters. I don’t think we need to trade up, but I’m kind of against trading back. I’m 100% dead against using ANY future draft capital to get players for this season. They’ve shown restraint not touching Tua’s or Tyreeks’s contracts for restructures and I hope they continue to be responsible in this upcoming draft.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

YAY!! The secondary is fixed…. (sarcasm)
Dolphins add Local Talent Artie Burns
Burns was the 25th overall selection in that draft thanks to his good size (6 feet, 187) and great speed, but it hasn’t helped him deliver in the NFL.
In 90 NFL games over eight seasons, Burns has recorded four interceptions along with 38 passes defensed. Since 2018, he has allowed an opponent rating of 124.3 when targeted.
Rock, IMO, it looks like they have pulled back on Grier spending future money. That is the only good that is coming out of this.
They still have to restructure someone to sign the rookies though. That can be done with a couple players not named Tua or Ramsey. They have cap next year, just don’t move money to void years.
Rock – What’s false exactly? Just curious what specifically you were referring to as false
Tua isn’t asked to do anything every other QB is asked to do.
let’s go St John’s!
in case you guys didn’t know, I went to SJU for law school and they haven’t been to the tourney since I was in law school
so that’s quite a stretch for a once great basketball program
kinda reminds me of a certain nfl team….
So those of you should be joining me in rooting for them this year
let’s go Red Storm!
once upon a time Artie Bruns was a heck of a prospect
but last couple of years seems like most of his snaps are on special teams
he really hadn’t been a starter on defense since his first two years in the league
nit sure if he’s been battling injury or just not very good
hopefully he came cheap
ACL tear in 22′ or 23′, I think.
Mike, I’m surprised at how disgruntled you are about this team. All we can do is root and hope for the best. Nothing major is going to change heading into the season other than if we hit on some special talent in the draft. I don’t expect us to sign a special talent in FA.
I’m tired of this team making the same mistakes, and fans expecting things to be better
I have no idea how it’s going to look yet, none of us do. But we do have a lot of really good players too.
Adam Schefter
Vikings have released C Garrett Bradbury.
Tim – Who would you say are really good players on this team that will start nearly every game? I know who I have in mind, it’s a short list
That’s an impossible question.
It shouldn’t be. Give me the really good players that have a reasonable chance of playing a full season
I haven’t really thought about it.
We have 16 free agents (who were on the team last year) that have not not signed with another team yet. The only ones I would resign are:
G Isaiah Wynn
DT Calais Campbell
DT Benito Jones
EDGE Emmanuel Ogbah
We have resigned or agreed to terms with 7 who were on the team last year but should have only resigned 3 of those 7, maybe 4 (Safety Campbell, ILB Dodson and OLB Bell). The maybe was OT/OG Jackson Carman who they just started developing last year.
We have signed or agreed to terms with 11 free agents from other teams so far.
Not deep enough to remain the same.
100%
Piggy, I stopped taking DT Ty Robinson. He’s a good pass rusher but not so good vs the run and “Robinson is a below-average tackler who lets opportunities slip from his hands. Has a career 17.1% missed tackle rate.” After 5 seasons in college, he hasn’t cleaned that up yet.
think of him as a project rather than a finished project
I’ve seen him moving up on some draft boards bc of his skillset, but he definitely has warts
I wouldn’t pick him in the first couple of rounds but the 3rd and 4th are probably good spots for him
28. Tyleik Williams DT Ohio State

Nice Draft!
I see this draft simulator lists Wyatt Milum as a Guard. Most of the others list him as a Tackle, which he’s only ever played in college. It’s the (lack of) length of his arms that have some people wondering if he’ll be drafted as a Guard in the NFL — including myself — but we’re in the minority.
I say it’s highly possible, contingent on the team who drafts him. He’s a STUD!
Thanks, I liked it. I took DT Mills as a player to join later in the season or IR him until next year. I think he is that good to draft and the only reason he has fallen is due to the knee injury.
I think Milum is a lot like the others in that he could play both.
I saw a blurb that we’ve taken a good look at RB Nate Carter, Michigan.
Yeah, I blurbed that the other day with a video of him vs Michigan. lol

M13,
I’m not sure I did it right, but it’s a link to an article with Dante Scarnecchia. He talks about the arm length “myth”.
It can be an advantage to have longer arms, but it’s overrated. Way overrated. It’s completely unnecessary to being a great OT. Nice to have…may make certain things easier and some harder….but not necessary.
Riley Mills is athletic at 6’5, 291, and ran a 4.79 at the start of his senior season. He got injured in the playoff game vs Indiana and ended up with 7.5 sacks on the season. He’s a very good tackler also.

Arm length is the biggest BS red herring crap that exists in OL evaluation.
————-
I’m curious as to why you feel that way, Randy. NOT saying you are wrong… just curious. All I can tell ya is that the vast majority of NFL scouts would absolutely disagree with ya.
Oh yeah, I know one other thing: I’ve seen Tackles with shorter arms have absolutely no problem handling Tackle duties in the NFL… but that seems to be rare: the exception, not the rule. If they are quick, have great footwork, have strength, and can leverage like a wrestler… then it generally doesn’t seem to be a problem.
I hate generalizing regarding one issue (in this case, arm length… and I think we’re on the same page?), but way more often than not, shorter arms are going to make one an NFL Guard.
Look no further than Graham Barton, from last year’s Draft. He can play all 5 O-Line positions, and VERY well… but he ultimately became a Center due to his (lack of) arm length. 3 out of his 4 seasons at Duke, Barton was a LT.
OH! Just your post above! YES… I DO believe we’re on the same page, bud.
M13,
Another thing I always think about when the arm length discussion comes up is that you’re coached to keep your elbows in when you’re playing. So, just how much do longer arms really matter when proper technique is to keep your elbows in and not reach? Lol
I hear that, truly!
I’d love your opinion on Wyatt Milum, Brother. Check him out if/when ya get the chance. I think he’s a STUD.
And man… if we draft him to be our starting LG, he’s an outstanding insurance policy as either a LT or RT. Not that ANY of our Tackles will get injured this season… LOL
M13,
I’m familiar with Milum. I watched him at Sr bowl practices.
What did ya think of him, man?
By the way… Wyatt Milum’s (West Virginia’s) Pro Day is tomorrow.
I’ve watched some game-tape (NOT HIGHLIGHTS) of Wyatt Milum. The one that really stands out to me? His PSU tape. He got DESTROYED a couple of times by Abdul Carter going inside of him, but Milum also held his own on other plays.
It was a mixed bag, to be sure… but it sure was nice to see his performance against arguably the consensus #1 overall Draft pick this year in Abdul Carter.
Sorry, I should have said the consensus #1 rated player in the ’25 Draft in Abdul Carter.
M13,
I see him as a 4-5th rounder, so that usually means the draft gurus say he’s a 3rd rounder. Lol
He looked okay at the Sr Bowl, but he didn’t really stand out at guard or tackle. I like his attitude and drive. Might end up being a nice utility/swing OL.
Fair enough, my friend!
Just so long as ya realize that Milum has played 2,311 college snaps and has never yielded a sack, and only 1 QB hit on his watch over 3 seasons.
M13
was it you that posted thank you think we might pick Kelvin Banks?
I’m starting to see banks as our most likely pick too
Yessir! In my most recent mock (can’t post PFF mock draft results unless you link it to a social media account… so ya had to click on my link @MF13SS), I took Banks in the 1st round.
Wait… maybe that wasn’t my most recent mock.
At any rate, YES… I took Kelvin Banks.
the likelihood of Banks, Membou and Campbell going before 13 seems slim
in the mock I just did below it happened, but I don’t think it will
banks might be a great pick for us. Seems like a pro bowl caliber OG

I SWEAR, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TYLER WARREN!!! I’M PSU!!!
However, I cannot take him as our 1st round pick. If my name is Chris Grier, it would get me fired after the season is over. Why? We’ve got the best TE in Miami Dolphins history with Jonnu Smith, I’m paying ‘Reek and Da’ Cheetah INSANE $$$, I need to get the running game back to where it was 2 years ago, and having yet ANOTHER option for Tua to pass to is asinine.
It would be FAR wiser to invest in positions of absolute NEED, and there are plenty of them.
That’s a bit over the top. Our RB room is already strong at three. We don’t have to go DL or OL at #13. That’s reaching.
Do you think Tyler Warren is going to be one of the best TEs in the game the next 7-10 years? Who will be there at #13 better at their position?
That said I don’t think he’ll be there at #13.😂
I just fundamentally disagree, Tim.
I have a hard time passing on Warren if he is there
but I generally agree
that said – for me, the huge issue is the decline of our running game. And I think if we can get an effective running game going, we can get our offense back to its 2023 level
I think Warren helps our running game immediately
it’s almost as important to bring in that style of TE as a 2nd OG.
to me, Warren is an immediate impact player for us. He can probably do the most for us
we just need to bring in that 2nd guard too
Do you really believe we’d be “reaching” for an O-Lineman or D-Lineman @ R1P13?
I would say yes of that O-Lineman is Tyler Booker. But what if Banks falls in our lap? What if we have Kenneth Grant high on our Draft board?
Grier and McD are on the hot seat. To draft Tyler Warren would be to take even more targets away from $$$ ‘Reek and $$$ ‘Da Penguin.
JMO, but it makes no sense to draft a TE so early… that would be a luxury pick.
I like this one a lot . I traded up for Ferguson but other than that no trades. Nolan fell to the 2nd round which seems unlikely but I’ll take it

DL, OL, CB, TE and S will most likely be drafted. But the BPA is always an exception. What position could that be that’s a bit of a monkey wrench?
You and I are both very high on Jihaad Campbell. Thus, MLB could possibly be the ‘monkey wrench’.
I just have a gut feeling he’ll be pro bowl and all pro at some point. He’s built to play the physical game and has good speed and athleticism for coverage and sideline to sideline.

I HEAR ya on that… the importance of having a solid, blocking TE to solidify our running game.
Check out Jackson Hawes, TE, Georgia Tech… he’s your upgrade over Durham Smythe as a great blocking TE. And check out Jalin Conyers, TE, Texas Tech… he’s your ‘poor-man’s’ version of the next elite TE.
I don’t recall who did the mock (maybe our guy Ryder?), but he took Hawes and Conyers back-to-back in one of his mock drafts. WINNING!
Hasn’t that NFLN ticker tape thing been mocking Banks to us for months? Could swear I’ve seen that for awhile.
Banks seems to have slided down Draft boards over the last couple of months. Once the Combine hangovers dissipate, he’s probably going to be right up there in the top-13 again.
Y’all,
Just remember one thing: GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel ARE on the hot seat. They aren’t drafting for the next GM and HC… they are drafting for their very jobs THIS YEAR.
As such, I suspect we won’t be drafting a QB until day 3 at the earliest. Coach McD can’t babysit 3 QBs at the same time, especially being he’s tasked to fix Zach Wilson (and his mother, Trebeck! LOL 😉 )
Make no mistake: the task is to finally FIX the O-Line, to make the D-Line great again (and even if Calais Campbell returns to us, Father Time is undefeated), and we’ll be destroyed if we can’t field a legit CB opposite Jalen Ramsey… been saying it ever since we released Fuller. And Barry Jackson is now saying the exact same thing.
Piggy
I didn’t realize you went to SJU Law! I’m a huge St. John’s fan. You must have graduated law school around the Ron Artest
and Zendon Hamilton team?
What positions and prospects is Anthony Weaver pounding the table for?
M13, we could draft and interior DL or OL who is solid but not spectacular, or a TE who might be top 3 in the game for a long time.
Tim – This is my short list – Remember, not just really good players, but really good players that realistically can give you a full season
CB Jalen Ramsey
DL Zach Sieler
WR Tyreek Hill
WR Jaylen Waddle
RB De’Von Achane
TE Jonnu Smith

That’s it for me. Can’t put Armstead because it looks like he’s leaning towards retirement, and if it were my team, I’d start Patrick Paul anyway. Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb are huge question marks, Chubb hasn’t played since late 2023, and he’s an in jury risk, and Phillips may slip on soap in the shower and ruin a knee. No one else is here is really good, or can finish a season. You want to put Tua on your list, go ahead, I can’t do it! lol

I rest my case Your Honor! Frajeel!
I don’t believe he was only knocked down 11 times; that is horseshit, but the point is still valid. He was almost certainly knocked down way less than the average QB.
He was sacked 21 times, so unless we aren’t counting sacks that stat is wrong. And if we aren’t counting sacks, then that stat is silly, lol.
Also, how many games did he miss to skew those #’s.
Kong – I don’t know what the definition of a knockdown is, maybe if you curl up in the fetal position before you’re touched down, that’s not considered a knockdown. lol
lol
Gotta admit, this is probably the least excited I’ve been going into a season in the last 15 or 20 years.
Our team is just built wrong. We aren’t built for any kind of sustained success and our short term success is probably capped at maybe making the playoffs.
I’m not sure who it was above that said it, but I agree, I think it’s clear Grier has been given the directive of no more mortgaging the future- thankfully.
I want to be excited about the draft and the season, but it’s hard to see past a GM who just doesn’t hit enough in the draft, an injury riddled QB and pass rush. and all the holes we have to fill on defense.
I think the worst case scenario is squeaking into the playoffs and not getting a new FO at the end of the year. At the same time, I’ll never root against my team, so I’m kind of stuck in no man’s land as to what to do as a fan.
It was me. I think we need to draft in the trenches, at least 5 of 10 picks there and getting at least 3 in the top 5 picks (1 OL and 2 DT’s). Other 2 picks in top 5 a CB and Safety or a CB and WR Williams.
Set the team up for the future.
Tyreek is gone next year, we have to think about that. Be nice to have a big dynamic WR in the system 1 year before Hill is gone.
I thought it might have been you, but was too lazy to look back, lol. Completely agree with that assessment.
…and 100% on drafting the trenches.
I’m really curious to see how the draft plays out. I’ve seen some of the talk on the board and my own opinion is no way do I want a TE as our 1st pick. First and foremost, we need to get better on both lines. After that, all defense.
“I think Warren helps our running game immediately”
——————
His only weakness is blocking. Not that he grades bad there. He grades a little better than Fannin and almost as well as Helm, but much better than Loveland. Loveland is tied with Briningstool as the worst blocker’s in the top 10 TE’s.
Actually the top 3 TE’s in the draft grade lower than 60% while TE3 though TE8 all grade above and are better blockers, Taylor, Arroyo and Evans are the best blockers in the top 10.
I guess what I am trying to say is I don’t feel Warren will improve our run blocking from what we have now but he is not a liability there either.
It is the element of him as a weapon in the passing game that makes him an exciting pick. He gives you a + element over Hill and Pharoh Brown. 12 personnel with Warren and Jannu, is it a run or pass play.
The TE rankings go the same every year seems like. Your best all round TE (Warren) is at the top followed by your good pass catching TE’s (Fannin, Loveland) with not so good blocking skills followed by your 2nd tier best all round TE’s (Taylor, Arroyo) followed by your next tier of pass catchers who aren’t very good at blocking followed by the best blocking TE’s in the draft.
Piggy, you have been mocking Ferguson lately. He actually grades better than Warren in blocking but not as high as Taylor and Arroyo, grades the same in blocking as Helm who (on most boards) is ranked just ahead of him. I think Ferguson could be a 4th round steal.
I am not against trading picks this year to move up for a guy either. I just hate to when there are so many needs and Grier’s track record there is not so good. I also, most definitely, don’t want to trade away future picks to move up this draft. Reason being, the 2026 QB draft class is shaping up nicely.
I can see about 4 of the the top 10 picks being QB’s, for sure top 15 picks with up to as many as 7 QB’s going in the 1st round.
FIX THE TRENCHES this draft. Draft a 1st round QB in 2026.
Why do we need to draft at least 2 DT’s in the first 5 picks? 1. We have 2 needs there. 2. Seiler will be 30 at the start of the season and has played an ass load of snaps over the last 5 years, a total of 4,191 defensive and ST’s snaps.
Tyreek is gone next year, we have to think about that. Be nice to have a big dynamic WR in the system 1 year before Hill is gone.
——–
2026 WR draft class is not shaping up very well. It will be like this year at best.
CB Jeff Okudah is signing with the Vikings, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. A former first-round pick by Detroit, Okudah spent spent last season in Houston.
49er’s to sign DB Siran Neal

Won’t miss him
Dolphins top 2 free agent signing mistakes:
OL Liam Eichenberg
Miami re-signing one of their guards for depth purposes would have made sense. That player’s name, however, would have been Isaiah Wynn. Yes, he’s dealt with a quad injury that’s kept him out for over a year, but his play on the field is significantly better than what Eichenberg has shown for years in Miami. This was a player who needed a fresh start elsewhere, but Grier inexplicably can’t move on from his 2021 second round pick.
OL Larry Borom
The Dolphins need to secure a solid swing tackle – Kendall Lamm fit that bill through 2024 – but I’m not sure Borom is that guy. Yes, he has the positional versatility, having play significant snaps at both tackle spots with the Bears from 2021-24. However, the Bears’ offensive line was one of its weak spots, and Borom posted PFF grades of 48 and 53.8 in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The Dolphins’ search for a swing tackle should certainly not be over.

Tim – This is my short list – Remember, not just really good players, but really good players that realistically can give you a full season
CB Jalen Ramsey
DL Zach Sieler
WR Tyreek Hill
WR Jaylen Waddle
RB De’Von Achane
TE Jonnu Smith
____
LOL. I’d cut this list in near half. Maybe into a 1/3. Smith and Sieler.
Ha! I was trying to be as fair as I possibly could
IMO, Borom is straight garbage. I’d keep Eich over him and Grier paid this guy 2.5 million. Not just paid him that but the contract is 100% guaranteed and a 2.5 million dead cap if he does not make the 53. Very stupid contract by Grier.
Ryder does his best to find any positive but there is not much there.
BBM,
Borom was a terrible signing. Grier is starting his new year doing the same thing he’s always done with OL. He signs older injured guys and guys nobody else is gonna want and then overpay them.
Brian
I graduated SJU in 2002
so they were good when I first started
A knock down isn’t a sack, I don’t believe.
BBMike, I totally agree with you on Warren. He creates mismatches and that’s really what the game is all about.
31.Tyleik Williams DT Ohio State
48.Jonah Savaiinaea OT Arizona
63.Carson Schwesinger LB UCLA
66.Darien Porter CB Iowa State
98.Dylan Fairchild OG Georgia
116.Savion Williams WR TCU
135.Howard Cross III DT Notre Dame
150.J.J. Pegues DT Ole Miss
155.Jack KiserL B Notre Dame
224.Kurtis Rourke QB Indiana
231.Craig Woodson S California
253.Nofoafia Tulafono OC Wyoming
I would be down for this one, heck yeah!
I will light my Grier bobble head on fire if he picks Warren at 13. Sorry Brian! 😜
Why? He’s one of the best prospects in the draft.
Tim,
Several reasons: TE is far down the list of needs. He’s a very average athlete, and I don’t see him having the same impact at the next level. People seem to feel he’ll be another Kelce. Well, Kelce thrives on finding open spaces. That requires a QB who can adjust and move and manipulate defenses and the pocket to get the ball to him. We don’t have that. Tua’s game is not moving around, creating time and getting the ball to somebody off schedule. People talked this same way about that TE ATL drafted a few years ago. He was gonna “dominate” the NFL and nobody would be able to cover him. It was BS, and it didn’t work out that way.
I like Warren. I think he can eventually become a nice weapon. That doesn’t mean I need to take him at this point in this team’s development. We have such bigger needs. We need to build our trenches, and that needs to start with draft picks.
I was just being hyperbolic. I love my Grier bobble head too much to burn it! I can dislike a choice the team makes at any given pick and still like the actual player.
I’m not saying Warren has to be the pick, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if we drafted him. I think more highly of him than you do.

A knock down isn’t a sack, I don’t believe.
But is it a hit?
Rock,
Is hits a stat now? Fantasy football has ruined everything. Lol
Pressures and QB hits have been stats for a while. It gauges who disrupts and gets to the QB.
Tim,
I’ve said the same thing about Warren. I can like a player and still not like taking him in a particular spot in the draft. If they decide to draft Warren, so be it. This is a pretty weak draft, and he may be one of the best offensive prospects
One argument for drafting a TE this draft is all of our TE’s on the 2025 roster are free agents in 2026. We have ZERO TE’s under contract in 2026.
I am not advocating drafting Warren at #13, but we should draft one at some point.
Tim,
I think all these stats have become a thing for one reason. They make people money. Lol
I don’t play in a FF league that rewards points for pressures and QB hits. 😂
Tyler Warren is also a southpaw running the wildcat. 😉
Tim,
How do those Wildcat plays look behind bad OL play? This team simply needs to start building a solid foundation. You can put pretty windows siding and a roof on your house but if your foundation is crap none of that pretty stuff matters.
Tim,
Players benefit from those stats because they are contract bargaining chips. The NFL benefits because it uses those made up stats to generate hype and interest in their players and their product. It’s not just a fantasy football thing.
I will posit that ALL stats are made up. What are you trying to track? You can make a stat that represents what it is you are trying to track.
Also Randy, a knock down IS NOT a sack. It is an “almost sack” within two steps of the ball being released. otherwise it is roughing the passer.
Randy, you can draft the best player available and still build the lines in other rounds. We have good draft capital; 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7.
Rock,
This is why I don’t pay a lot of attention to stats and why I haven’t done FF since the 80s or 90s. It’s all crap. Lol
Tim,
Here we go again. A shiny offensive weapon is there and all of the sudden the LOS can wait. Typical! Lol
You keep reaching 😂
Is a knockdown a “pressure”? Asking for an entire blog community . . .
A knockdown is a pressure, but a sack isn’t.
A hit is a pressure, but not a knockdown.
A knockdown is a pressure, unless it’s a sack.
A knockdown is a hit, but a hit isn’t a knockdown…and neither of them are sacks.
I’m with Randy, lol.
Isn’t a knock down hitting the QB as he releases the ball and falls down?
I don’t think Tyler Warren falls to us anyway. DL and OL of value will be there.
I think Dolphins pass on Warren and he goes #14 to Colts.
Kong,
I’m also not excited and that includes a draft that’s just never impactful. I don’t know if it’s McD’s coaches not being able to coach up young men or Grier drafting terribly but these picks don’t see enough play here or just aren’t good enough to. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see another RB drafted and we have ZERO need for one
Honestly, if Ross desired wins over accolades for being a good owner, he’d demand the entire draft to be defense with Weaver having strong input into what he wanted. The offense has gotten enough talent to score more than the 20 points per game this past year as the 22nd ranked scoring offense. Let’s see McD outcoach someone for once if he wants to keep his job.
I’m really hoping we’ll see some starters on the oline and defense with the top of our draft, but more than anything, I want a new FO.
Just to clarify, I want a complete overhaul. We are paying Alec Ingold 5 million this year and he had 10 carries for 17 yards last year. 18 carries for 25 yards since we signed him. 3 yr 17 million contract extension for another blocker because Grier doesn’t value or understand the OL position enough.
Thanks for the explanations Kong!
😂
Some don’t recognize what it takes to build a solid foundation/base for a football team.
Obviously, our GM thinks it’s about speed, like this version of coach…lmao
Perfect article. “just filling holes.”
I’m so discouraged….lol
Like Kong, I fear us trading up for a RB we don’t need…lol.
Hello! If you have no OL, you do NOT have a RB…lol
This is awesome!!!
Dolphins welcome SpaceX Crew-9 Dragon spacecraft off coast of Florida after splashdown
How so? Lmao…..clueless
Huh? How NOT so! All those dolphins flocking around this thing that came down from space!
It’s almost as though they were creating a perimeter to keep sharks away from us humans.
Sorry, but I absolutely LOVE nature… especially dolphins!
If nothing more, it was like a welcome home party for the stranded astronauts. That’s cool, man!
Welcome home? Lol
Awesome!!!!
Absolutely!!!
lol…invasion. Wtf is this?
children on this planet are curious…lmao
Tim,
Have you seen the recent footage of dolphins in Hawaii riding the waves with surfers? It’s splendid!
Wake the fuck up! Lol…I don’t mean woke the fuck up, because you ain’t
Just to be clear…I saw no adults in the vicinity “welcoming” us home….lmao
There was no pod…lol
Lol…now I understand some of the fan base here…oh my
What is the over that Randy’s Grier bobblehead is wearing a baseball cap and a three piece suit?
There is a… I don’t know if I’d call it a rumor, perhaps more like hope… that Xavien Howard may rejoin us for the ’25 season. Hey, if the price is right, I’m good with it. He certainly can’t command mega-dollars any longer.
I’m not…he is a liability
After a full year off to heal his injuries? He still trains 24/7, according to reports.
Heck, bring him back as a Safety at this point!
l9l…that’s something Grier would do…so…s…
Puppy dogs and unicorns…lmao
Krishna,
You are seriously a downer this evening! LOL
Lei me put on my skirt for you and cheer for the state of this team…lmao
mf13ss…you’re so pie in the sky thinking imo…much like TK….lol.
Actually, I can’t believe GM Grief still has a job. It’s a ‘make it or break it’ year: he AND Coach McD are on the hot seat.
I think there’s a ‘chance’ they can redeem themselves… but it’s certainly not looking good, IMO.
I’m certainly not ‘pie in the sky thinking’. I’m preparing for the worst, yet hoping for the best. I think that’s all we can really do as Phins fans this season.
It’s so funny to me.
There are several, maybe more, even more than more, (like CK and…) that think otherwise what we have going forward….
….so I say it….such a downer…lol
I was referring more to your opinion of the dolphins greeting our stranded astronauts.
If you seriously think I’m happy with the current status of our beloved team, you’re sadly mistaken. There’s still hope for this season, but I’m not betting that we even make the playoffs.
We’ll see what we look like after the Draft… and then later on after some oaks fall off of acorns (LOL) once June begins.
I will say it again in clearer terms…if you think the curious babies (aka pods) are welcoming our stranded astronauts…cough, cough…so be it.

Dude… whatever you’re doing, put it down and walk away from it! Sheesh!
I’m trying to see this team beyond next year because next year it’s not a contender, imo
Such a downer….lmao
From USA Today NFL Power Rankings by Nate Davis:
21. Miami Dolphins (19): Question – What do you get when you tie up a ton of money into a quarterback and No. 2 receiver frequently short-circuited by injuries to go with an otherworldly (if often moody) WR1?
Answer – Bengals South…which means the softer, less imposing version.
__________
Oooph….lol
Dead on balls accurate!
My physiotherapist is a bengals fan and said same thing , you also get to probably lose MVP on D cause ya can’t afford to pay him .. in this case Hendrickson
Just checked out a Mock Draft from Yahoo. In this draft, Armand Membou and Will Campbell are off the board, and they have us taking S Malaki Starks. DT Walter Nolen still available and Tyler Warren as well. I feel like if this kind of situation lines up and he takes a player like Starks I’m going to lose my shit, especially since the Jets get Membou in this mock draft
That would suck
M13,
I though the splash landing and the dolphins was cool also. Maybe God sent a welcome party for them.
^^
SBJ Krishna, you drunk and disgruntled last night? Why were you being a dick about the video MF13 posted? Very condescending tone like you are superior or something. What was that about?
A “pod” of dolphins is a group. It can be TWO in a pod. So yes, there was a pod of dolphins. Man you sounded nasty last night.
Definitely drunk, but not disgruntled….lol.
Saying the pod (I saw 3 and misspoke about it not being a pod) was “welcoming” the landing and warding off sharks and a gift from a god (I don’t believe in) is a little naive, imo. Lol….like unicorns, puppy dogs, and fairies.
There sure was a lot of laughing out loud and rolling on the floor going on about condescending and rude comments last night. Just an FYI, typing LOL or ROFLMAO after a shitty comment does not make the statement any less shitty.
“LOL”
^
Luis D. Sung
Right now if I’m the Dolphins, I’m laser focused on two positions in the draft. CB and DT, particularly the latter. Why? Because there are still VERY good guards available on the free agent market and the well is dried up at the other two spots. What I would NOT do is stand pat
he makes a good point
but there are 3 prospects who might be there at 13 who may be able to start and dominate at LG for us: Membou, Campbell and Banks
resigning Calais Campbell and Benito jones kind of accomplishes the same at DT as would be achieved by signing a vet OG
CB seems like it’s a little harder to deal with
I think if Campbell, Membou or Banks are there at #13 you take them. DT, LG and CB have been my top priorities the last couple days.
Maybe, you should check your facts. Who was rolling on the floor? ROFLMAO? Lol…
Oh, I beg for your forgiveness. Laughing your ass off, not rolling on floor laughing your ass off. My bad….
Regardless, it was a shitty rant full of condescending tones and superiority. Facts straight!
I think deep down I want the Dolphins to get 2 really good OG’s, and a backup too, and then I want to see if Tua is the best QB in our division and can win a playoff game. I would love to see that question finally answered, without everyone making excuses with the O-line
I keep hearing how DT is one of the deepest positions in this draft. I know damn well we need 2, but I think you have to go O-line first and get the very best prospect you can for the O-line
That’s how I feel. Though, I don’t want to reach either. Again, if Campbell, Membou or Banks are there at #13 you have to take them. If not, trade down maybe for an extra 2nd and draft a DT later first round then OL and CB.

___________
Why beg? lol….
And, just so you know, I DO laugh out loud and I laugh a lot. I banter most of the time, at work, at a bar, at play, out of fun. I’m not sure how to express banter on a blog, but that’s what I do. Maybe, that comes across as condescending at times and it’s not and sometimes it is.
When I drink, that’s a side that comes out, nasty perhaps. Rarely, if ever, does that happen when I smoke.
I apologize, mf13ss, for being nasty and condescending to you.
It is a turn of phrase used sarcastically in response to you attempting to deflect by nit picking “I didn’t say rolling on the floor, just the laughing my ass off part”
That said, it was right for you to apologize to MF13 for being a dick. Congratulations, even if the tone read as insincere.
I am not the blog mom, nor do I want to be. I have in the past torn into MF13 in an inappropriate manner so I am not better than anyone else in this.
I only made a passing comment about the tone of last night’s interaction.
Moving on…
It wasn’t “insincere.” But your judgement of its tone seems a little righteous and condescending to me.
Moving on…
Per Barry Jackson, the Dolphins have a standing offer to Calias Campbell if he decides to come back. Doesn’t mean he will. It just means the Dolphins want him back if he wants to continue playing and another team doesn’t offer him more.
We already know they have the same standing offer for Ogbah also.
Trade rumors are still out there on Tyreek. His is very tradable for a team who wants him at a cost of only about 12 million in 2025 but 31 million in 2026 to a team who wants him. They would basically get him for 21.5 mil per year average.
In a pre 6/1 trade (prior to the draft) Dolphins would take about a -500k cap hit BUT it would totally clear his 51.8 million cap hit in 2026 and clear all his dead money pushed to void years.
How many good players could the dolphins sign next year with that 51.8 million.
That should read as an extra -500K cap hit, making his total cap hit at 28.2 million for 2025.
The rumor was Bears could be a trade partner.
The trade involved a swap of 1st round picks moving Dolphins to #10 and a later pick or Dolphins getting one of the Bears 2nd round picks #39 or #41.
I think I would rather have the high extra 2nd round pick.
Tyreek Hill Trade Mock Draft
Using the draftbuzz simulator, I couldn’t get #39 or #41 from Bears but got #72 and #231.
PICK: 13 RND: 1 Armand Membou OT Missouri
PICK: 48 RND: 2 Tyleik Williams DT Ohio State
PICK: 72 RND: 3 Maxwell Hairston CB Kentucky

PICK: 116 RND: 4 Kevin Winston Jr. S Penn State
PICK: 135 RND: 4 Gunnar Helm TE Texas

PICK: 231 RND: 7 Jackson Hawes TE Georgia Tech
PICK: 233 RND: 7 Francisco Mauigoa LB Miami
PICK: 253 RND: 7 Thor Griffith DT Louisville
I wanted to get a good CB and it made me miss on WR Savion Williams.
I’d trade Captain-not-my Captain in a millisecond!
Who are these “VERY” good guards left in FA?
Scherff, Tevin Jenkins and Will Hernandez
Not sure what was going on here last night. 🙄
