Tyreek Hill and other Dolphins points

What do you know??? Tyreek Hill made the news cycle again, and as per usghe, it’s not for the right reasons. I’m not even going to touch the specifics of the situation he’s in because I have zero f*cks to give about his personal life. What I will say is that he’s often a distraction, and this team needs to be focused on winning this season. I feel like we can do it with or without him, and if we can get an offer for a decent pick in this coming draft, I wouldn’t hesitate to jump on that. Hopefully the league doesn’t get involved in his indiscretion here and punish him with a suspension. It doesn’t seem like it’s worthy of such punishment, but the NFL has much disdain for their players and their league being shed in a poor light. I’d take a 2nd or 3rd pick and just be done with him, Next year we’d be done with his salary cap hits and for this season, maybe it would help the team stay on the straight and narrow and just think about the task at hand, WINNING! We could definitely use more draft capital for this particular draft where it’s not a top heavy draft, but filled with a lot of maybes past maybe a couple of handfuls of players, so having an extra pick gives us more flexibility when it seems like we still have holes to fill.

We’ve debated here for quite some time as to how the team should approach the draft. Those of you who actually read my articles, if there are any, know how I feel. O-line is first and foremost for me. We have to give our offense, and mostly Tua the best opportunity to be an elite offense. We saw how poor it was when we Tua had to throw the ball within a very short 2 second span, and we (our receivers) weren’t getting enough separation. We also how it was practically impossible for our RB’s to run inside of the tackles, everything was rerouted to the outside, but we all know that makes short yardage situations situations nearly impossible under those circumstances. If you can’t get inside running lanes, you don’t convert short yardage situations, and that’s precisely how it went for us all season long. Our starting C Aaron Brewer is great on the move blocking downfield, but short yardage plays require your center to engage and turn defenders or just blow them back with a strong push. He’s not that guy, and nobody who played OG on either side was capable of that as well. That led to constant failure on 3rd or 4th and short. This MUST BE FIXED!

I’m well aware we need CB help too, but not re-signing DT Christian Wilkins has still left a gaping hole on the other side of the nose tackle opposite Zach Sieler. This is a deep draft for that position, but it could be really risky to wait until the 3rd RD or later. There are a few players that might be able to help us if they’re still there, but again, if you have players you want, you may want to pull the trigger in RD 2 and not risk them being gone in RD 3. Then we must turn our eye on CB’s. It’s a shame we’re looking for a starter at DT, because right now I’m not sure we have an outside CB on our roster that can start. Again, I speak from the premise of the belief that our offense has to be near elite for this team to win. I feel like if our offense resembles last year’s offense, where we couldn’t throw downfield, nearly every pass was a 5 yard shot here or there, and a 10 yard pass was a deep one, we’re cooked. We have to be much more like the high flying offense of ’23, when Raheem Mostert scored 18 rushing TD’s. If we have a consistent run game, and we’re getting push up the middle too, this will make defense much more honest, and those safeties that have been playing 10 yards back or more will now have to creep up and help in run support which in turn should help us take some deep shots and get receivers open deep. McDaniel must find a way to counter this issue, but the offensive line humming is an essential need to allow this to occur.

I know I have been a malcontent and have been very negative towards our team and organization. I feel it’s totally warranted though. A great draft might change my mind somewhat, and I hope they can come through with one. We could potentially have an exciting defense with Chop Robinson, Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb and our two ILB’s Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson. My eyes just keep going back to that huge hole at LDE/DT though, and we have to find a legit starter there. I can see picking up a discarded veteran after the draft and then forming a rotation with the drafted rookie and the vet, but we still have to get a quality player regardless. Yes, I know M is gnashing his teeth about a CB, and he’s not wrong. We do have to find one who can give us quality reps, and I feel like that may end up being a similar situation as LDE/DT, where we draft a CB and he rotates with a vet and some of the guys we already have on the roster. This is where we have put ourselves, but it could work. We most definitely need a lot of luck that a bunch of the aforementioned players have to stay healthy, something that never seems to happen. Maybe we’re due for some luck, it can’t always go the other way, right?

Fuck Ramsey! If he didn’t want to be on the team anymore, he should have said something a couple months ago. But NO, he had to wait until after the dolphins had to pay him his 4m roster bonus and 3.8m option bonus.

Dolphins could have made the trade prior to having to pay him that money. He still would have gotten that 4m roster bonus from his new team.

Trading Ramsey pre 6/1 will cost an additional 12.5m cap hit. Post 6/1 trade, Dolphins will clear 6m in 2025 cap, have an 18.4m dead cap hit in 2026 but still clear 6.5m in 2026 cap.

if I remember correctly, last years fest game wasn’t voted on because there was only one logical possibility.

  5. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Ramsey, now that he got paid almost all of his bonus money (roster and option), he will only cost the team trading for him 2.1m this season. Almost every team in the NFL has the cap space to take that on. It will go up to as much as 17m over 2026 and 2027 though.

Some sites are already saying Ramsey could easily command a high 2nd round pick in a trade.

Looking at teams who need a CB and have the cap. Going by the draft pick value chart, say Ramsey is worth around 400-450 points which is between picks #45 to #50. Trade scenarios:

Jaguars CB is #2 need – Ramsey and #116 for pick #36 (540 points) or Ramsey for #70 and #88 (390 points).

Saints CB is #1 need – Ramsey and pick #155 for pick #40 (500 points) or Ramsey for #71, #93 (363 points).

Buccaneers CB is #2 need – Ramsey for Pick #53 (370 points)

Randy – The answer is this team is not built to win, and the players don’t feel like the team is going to win in the near future. I think they’re right and I’ve been saying this all along.

  19. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Wasn’t done but I figured I’d spit it up because it gets interesting with the contenders at the bottom of the 1st who need a CB. Leaving the Bills out of it for more reason than 1.

Say Ramsey is worth a mid 2nd rounder, well you can’t get more middle 2nd round than where the Dolphins pick at #48 which is worth 420 points. That means Ramsey and Pick #48 are worth around 840 points. That combo would allow the Dolphins trade all the way back up to pick #20 in the 1st round.

Vikings #1 need is CB then Safety. Vikings only have 4 picks in the draft. Flores would probably love to have Ramsey. They can fill their CB need not lose one of their 4 picks but just swap their 1st for a 2nd. Vikings pick #24 is worth 740 points. Ramsey and #48 for #24 and a 2026 3rd.

Ravens need OL, CB and Safety. Ramsey and Pick #48 for Ravens pick #27 and #91 is worth 816 points.

    MikeE,

You’re preaching to the choir, brother. It rings very familiar in my ears.

Hey, maybe we’re seeing a shift. They really don’t seem to be coddling players or handing out loads of money for no reason as they did last year. Maybe Ramsey saw the writing on the wall that he wasn’t going to be able to whine and get his way any longer…or they flat out told him that, so he’s bolting.

  24. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Commanders need edge and CB but only have 5 picks in this draft. Pick #61 is only worth 262 points and their next pick, #128, is only worth 44 points. I would do this trade #61 and #128 for Ramsey but I don’t see them going into the draft with just picks #29, #205and #245.

    Could just get crazy with it. Trade Ramsey, #48, #116 and #155 for #29 and #61. Dolphins would end up with 13, 29, 61, 98, 135, 150, 224, 231, 253. Points came out at 931.4 to 932. lol

At his pro day he came in at 6’1, 281, ran a 4.74 forty, 38″ vertical, 10’6″ broad and 30 reps on the bench. At his height/size, that vertical and broad demonstrate a lot of power.

  38. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Looking at the roster our biggest need position is interior DL. I know we all want a stud guard but I’m not sure which side of the ball is graded higher in the #13 range.

We might very well trade down in the 1st and acquire more draft picks, but I can also see us trading up in the mid rounds for prospects we really like.

I won’t be surprised if we traded a 4th or 5th for a DL with NFL experience.

  39. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

  49. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Randy – immediately I thought Ramsey wanted the trade but damage control was saying the mutual feeling nonsense. Ramsey was probably going to leak it but the team probably asked if he could hold off and told him about the mutual nonsense which may make it easier for the Dolphins to get compensation because Ramsey isn’t a malcontent who will do anything to get out which forces the Dolphins to take less to get rid of him

  50. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Interesting that Chris Grier today said one of the things he’s learned over the years is to not defer. Now that’s a curious statement, is it not? If you’re the GM of an organization, who on Earth could you ever defer to?

    Short answer? THE OWNER

Steve Ross is the one going ALL-IN to get a Lombardi before it’s too late for him (see the acquisitions of ‘Reek and Ramsey). And look no further than Tom Brady/Sean Payton-gate. We surely could have used the lost 1st and 3rd rounders, and I’m sure Grier would agree.

Our fortunes won’t change so long as Steve Ross is the owner of our Miami Dolphins.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Make no mistake… I’m not saying Grier is spotless. HOWEVER, I believe the case can be made that he’s been undermined by Steve Ross.

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Well, then our fortune won’t change because he’s not ever going to sell. Like I stated above , hopefully his daughters can do a better job.

  51. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    M13,

So, you really believe Grier just came out and said he’s learned not to do what his boss tells him to do? I’m just guessing, but I doubt he was referring to his boss.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

It’s not as though he just came out and stated that it’s on Steve Ross… he’d be a fool to do as much! LOL

I think if one reads between the lines, one might come to that conclusion… and I don’t think it’s a reach.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Something is very wrong in Miami, Randy… not that that’s anything new ever since Ross took over as owner. The jokes write themselves, some of which ya can’t even make up.

  52. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    M13,

Couldn’t it have gone this way? Ross tells Grier he wants to push for a SB and tells him to go ahead and spend money on players or make moves to pursue that end. Then, Grier goes about making said moves. Unless Ross demanded that he authorize every move, aren’t the moves themselves still questionable and still on Grier?

And, wasn’t almost every single fan on this site happy with the push for a SB too? Sounded to me like fans were pretty okay with going all in…at least most of us. So, how can you rip Ross for doing what fans were clamoring for? I don’t understand.

  53. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    M13,

Well, if there’s only one person he defers to…it’s fairly obvious, isn’t it?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Who else — other than the owner — would a GM defer to though?

And NO… I’m not letting Grier off the hook.

I’m beginning to feel like our buddy Rockphin… BLOW IT ALL UP!!!

  54. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Grier hasn’t learned anything over the years. He’s been in this organization for the entire 20 year drought. Remember, he’s not worried about the OL……..

  55. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    M13,

    Exactly. Lol

  56. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We’ve got what… 3 whole playoff appearances as a Wildcard team (bounced out each time) ever since the team off Ross-Grier came into fruition.

    IT’S NOT WORKING!

  57. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

maybe Grier is talking about deferring to the head coach?

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

That’s plausible, but he’d better be able to shop for the necessary groceries as needed by the HC. So if Grier is throwing former HCs and perhaps the current HC under the bus, maybe he should be dismissed.

The buck begins and ends with Steve Ross, as it pertains to his hand-picked GM of his football team.

No matter how one slices or dices it, Ross is to blame.

  58. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Ross isn’t going anywhere. Now what? How does it get better?

  59. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ross tried to illegally lure Bill Belicheat* away from North Carolina… and then we lose R1P13 this year and another pick in 2026.

  60. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ross is just a guy who wants to make lots of money (he does!), and he wants to win. Problem is, he trusts Grier to do it (he can’t!)

Hopefully after another failed season we move on from what we’ve got now, and as far as I’m concerned, McD doesn’t get a free pass unless somehow that offense is top 10 this season.

  61. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Chris Grier during his presser yesterday asked about team leaders

He mentions Zach Sieler, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Alec Ingold, Austin Jackson.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Grief’s double down strategy indicates he can’t evaluate talent, so might as well take 2 for insurance

even in 2019 there was some hope, this year something feels terribly off

Ross must’ve said, let’s rebuild, but make it seem like a retool

Ross isn’t retooling, he’s keeping the same 2 tools in the shed

  62. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

why wouldn’t the Fins do a fire sale?

what’s the point in keeping guys like Hill and Chubb?

why keep them, when you know both are gone before the 2026 season?

is going 6-11 worth keeping them over 4-13?

Grier says he’s trying to win, if what he’s doing is trying to win he should’ve been fired long ago

instead of a fire sale how about a fired sale, including Grier and the 🧁

the 3 ring 🎪 is in full effect, with Ross, Grier and the 🧁 each in a ring

who pays a 4m roster bonuses to a player 6 months after giving him an extension, then says it’s mutual we’re parting ways

he keeps doing the same shit over and over

  63. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

the Fins aren’t in flux, they’re in fux

who in the 3 ring 🎪 can step up and be a man, telling the asylum how it’s going to be?

to Hill that wanted out, where is the ok go F yourself you signed a new contract, it would cripple us to let you go

to Ramsey see the message to hill

IDK maybe someone in the asylum needs to step up

why would Weaver want to tackle this mess?

why would Ross even want a first time HC to come in and wipe his ass?

  64. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

and if Grief takes Will “injured Johnson” at 13 i might just disown this team

  65. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

at 13 we should trade out for 2026 picks, 2nd-10th picks see pick at 13

I’d rather get all future considerations, after we go 0-17 the new GM can build it the right way

Grief has no balls or plan, he keeps letting someone else tell him what to do, and why Ross likes him

Cupcake has no balls, he won’t put his foot down with any player

Ross’ balls are so big they get in the way of his better judgement

    just say 💥

  66. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I have to correct myself from yesterday. Ramsey will not cost a team trading for him just 2.1m. I brain farted when looking at his contract. I thought his option bonus kicked in on the first week of the new league year but, actually, it kicks in Week 1 of the season so Dolphins wouldn’t be on the hook for that, the other team will be.

The option bonus this year is 18.9m and becomes fully guaranteed week 1. So, the team trading for him will be on the hook for 21m total. Though, it looks like it is set up to be spread out and actual cap hit this year to a team trading for him would be 5.9m with 3.796m of it being some of the option bonus.

What muddies the water is, if that team wants to move on from Ramsey in 2026 after a 1yr rental, they will have the remaining 15.2m of his option bonus as dead cap in 2026.

After correcting myself, I realize the Dolphins will be lucky to get even a 3rd round pick for Ramsey. Maybe a late one.

Only way I see a trade getting done is if Ramsey agrees to rework his whole deal and that would take time and most likely be a post 6/1 trade.

Pretty frustrating we’re going into a lame duck year with Grier and McDaniel still helming this dumpster fire.

I’m not sure anything could illustrate the lack of leadership and accountability from our FO more than Grier naming Tyreek a leader on this team. Hill had yet another in a long string of off-field incidents just a few days ago, he effing quit on the team last year, and he’s back and forth asked for a trade since the day the season ended.

This is the guy you name a team leader?

We let most of the real leaders of men who were on this team walk out the door over the last two years.

Really looking forward to selecting a RB or WR with our first pick, Tua getting another concussion or two, and winning 5 games this year.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tua is selling his house with no new house under contract, so obviously he and his 100m dead money are leaving too

the Miami Dolphins offensive line crippled the offense last year #28 in pass blocking #26 in run blocking their line is #27 most expensive this year it’s not because they have a lot of young starters they’ve invested the #3 least draft capital into the OL since 2022 now, they lost their best lineman, Terron Armstead he graded #4 best OT last year & ranked #8 in pressure rate allowed T Patrick Paul is penciled in to start (#68 in pressure & #82 of 85 OTs in overall grade last year) their other T Austin Jackson ranked #80 of 85 OTs last year on paper the line is worse than last year and that’s saying something last year the line ranked #32 in RB stuff rate and #31 in short yardage conversion rate they did not get push up front in the ground game, ranking #26 in yards before contact per rush making matters worse, they ranked #1 in offensive holding penalties (most in the NFL since 2019)

At this point, I don’t really care about trying to fill all the holes on the team. This season is already in the can. I want to see the focus of this draft be entirely about building both lines.

I would be ok with literally every pick being oline/dline. Win a few games, get a high draft pick. Build the team with 2026 in mind as our fresh start- having both lines set or nearly set and selecting our new QB in next year’s draft.

I know it won’t play out that way, but for me, that is the best case scenario for this season.

  74. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You guys kinda ruined Friday’s article, but you’re 100% right. Forget trying to get the best OL, we just need to get the best player available at whatever position, maybe even RB or TE if those are the best players on the board for us

  75. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know if the season is completely in the can already

I can sort of see a small glimmer

(Piggy looks up at the sky and a ray of sunshine hits him)

I think of we draft OL at 13

(birds begin to sign around Piggy)

and then the other pieces of the OL work out: aka Patrick Paul can play LT, Brewer doesn’t decline, Daniels is healthy and Austin Jackson continues to get better…

and the e OL stays healthy

    (A rainbow appears behind piggy)

and our TEs can actually block and maybe we pick up another TE who can block …

then maybe we can be a hite scoring offense again

    (piggy slides down the rainbow)

but I’m less optimistic about our defense given our DL and secondary is completed depleted

(thunder crashes and it rains on Piggy)

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can tell ya this Piggy, there’s no pressure or expectations for this season

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We have 14 DBs, I don’t think it’s depleted, maybe questionable. We only have 4 interior DL and only two of them are proven.

There is no way we won’t draft DL or acquire through trade.

Belated Happy B-Day to the Hulkster! Hope ya had a great one, buddy!

  77. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Here’s how I’m seeing it right now…

Get the O-Line fixed (draft a T/G) and sky is the limit for our Offense. Perhaps we can just outscore other teams in ’25.

Get the D-Line fixed (at least stop the run) and pray our pass-rush is killer via our EDGEs. This would drastically help our no-name secondary after Ramsey is dealt.
