With the 13th Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select . . .

DT Kenneth Grant 6’4 331 – Michigan

Well, all I have to say is I’m quite relieved. I really expected the Dolphins (Chris Grier) to reach for an oft injured CB (Will Johnson, also from Michigan) or a nickel back CB Jahdae Barron. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised after all the OT’s were off the board (Campbell, Membou and Banks), that the Dolphins selected a DT who can start immediately. Grant is a big boy, but he needs to increase his strength and hit the weights. It wouldn’t hurt to shed a few pounds either and be a little quicker and more explosive. He can play DT/DE for Miami opposite Sieler, and he can play some NT as well, although with Benito Jones already here, I think it would serve the Dolphins better to have Grant at DE and Jones at NT.

I don’t have an awful lot to say, it’s one pick, and a pick necessitated by letting Wilkins walk last season. That being said, Grant is a guy who has not found his ceiling yet, and hopefully in Anthony Weaver’s scheme, Grant will flourish quickly and for many years down the line for us, with or without Weaver. No question a pick that satisfies a huge need, we still have a whole lot more work to do. I’m hoping we get an interior OL next, to me that’s the next need. We can take care of CB and S later, first get the big boys. Lots of big boys off the board already as I mentioned, the trio of OT’s Campbell, Membou and Banks are gone as well as OT Grey Zabel, OG’s Tyler Booker and Donovan Jackson also are gone. That leaves OG’s Tate Ratledge, Marcus Mbow, Wyatt Milum and Jonah Saviineah are 2nd RD possibilities, as well as 2 OT’s not yet picked as of this writing, OT Josh Conerly and Josh Simmons. I hope the Dolphins stay on track with the trenches, it’s like building a house, you need a strong foundation.

See you all later tomorrow, I have plans and won’t be around most of the day, I’ll try to catch up before the evening!

Good for the G-Men, nice draft so far. Got potentially the best defensive player in the draft in DE Abdul Carter and hopefully their QB of the future.

  3. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Good job Mike E

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

BTW, fuck all those mock drafters that had us taking Will Johnson or Jahdae Barron or Malaki Starks or Nick Emmanwori. So fucking glad that shit didn’t happen, it was exactly what I was expecting and dreading at the same time.

  5. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – I think the Stealers are either going to get Rodgers or Kirk Cousins. They have some time to see how things play out, or maybe they like a QB in this draft

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Ya know… I think you’re right about that. That would explain why they didn’t blow their load to get a QB early.

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Just remember, we have to wait SIXTEEN PICKS in RD 2, that’s a lot of players off the board. It’s gonna be painful, hopefully one of the guys mentioned is still there for us!

  7. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

I’m enjoying Sanders getting skipped over. Dude could use some humility. My opinion isn’t very high on his game either. Not worth the headache.

  8. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    OT Josh Conerly gone.

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

My guess for the Bills is S Nick Emmanwori

And another T off the board

  18. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Sieler, Jones, Grant

    Chop, Chubb, Phillips

    Brooks, Dodson, Britt

  19. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

OL, DB and TE is what I see with the exception of a guy who dropped for whatever reason.

  20. pieguyevan's avatar pieguyevan says:

Happy with the big guy pick. Grier has definitely been trying to be too cute in his 1st round picks for too many years. If we can get a G and some secondary help tomorrow, I’ll be happy with this draft. Hope you all are doing well! 🤘🤘🤘

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

lot of good DBs on the board right now. 2nd round might be a good place for a trade down. We need OL too. Maybe we can get a very good DB and Good OG

  22. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

There are a lot of good DBs Piggy- and some OL that are projected to go right around 50. We should hopefully have our pick of the two. I am leaning towards G, but wouldn’t mind DB either. Hopefully Cam Smith can develop(I have my doubts), that would make the secondary situation much less dire.

  23. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    Grief is one fragile fuck

in the presser he felt the need to tell us he got 3 text from teams right behind us saying, they were going to take Grant with their 1st rd picks

take your guy and don’t worry about what other teams think

  24. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

This team is hopefully just building a strong roster, and as I said, that starts with the trenches. Get the best OG in RD 2, and then work on the rest. Have to keep repeating myself, because it’s a fact, we have to replace Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt. If we drafted Travis Hunter and didn’t properly address the O-line and D-line, we still weren’t competing to make a deep playoff run. So get Ratledge, Milum, Mbow, or Saviinaea, and then work on the little guys like CB, S, maybe even a TE. Not being chicken little, but we’re really just restocking the cupboard, I don’t think this team is going to be better than last season, but I wouldn’t mind if we were.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Steve – That’s laughable, the Grier story. No one fucking tells another team who they want, especially when that team is on the clock! I’m actually a little surprised a team didn’t want to trade ahead of Indy to get Warren

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I like that Grant put up 27 reps at his pro day, compared to the 22 he put up at the combine. That was a little “Weenie Hut Jr.” for me. lol

  27. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,

Grant needs time to develop his body. In fact, the picture you used for the article doesn’t even really look like him now. He’s already been working on his frame. I have concerns about the kid’s commitment, but he’s been working on himself. You can tell by looking at him. This kid is like a lump of clay. He’s just beginning to scratch the surface, I think. If he commits himself, I think the sky’s the limit.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can’t find one recent photo of Grant. I wish he was at the draft so we could have seen him come out. Oh well

  28. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I love our picks from one mock done this morning

    48: ratledge

    98: Mukuba

I would be thrilled with those

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

there’s a couple of OL I would rather have than ratledge

      savianaiiia, Mbow and Milum

all three OTs in college who project well at OG according to scouting reports

      Mukuba would be awesome

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

generally speaking OL and DB would be great

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

That was my point. But I think people get hung up on some guys and who they mock- Ratledge would be a huge get for this OL.

  29. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Day 2 of the draft had the “old switcheroo” written all over it

Our 3rd round is so late, that we can probably trade our 2nd and 3rd for theirs

And move down in the 2nd and up in the 3rd

  30. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Maybe Grier meant three teams after the Dolphins AFTER they had picked ? Like possibly a while after they picked? It doesn’t say that they texted him while they were picking.

  31. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I still don’t believe that someone took the time to tell him, even after our pick, that they were going to take Grant. I still call BS.

  32. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

on Tuesday I saw a video talking about NFL teams higher on Grant, than the national media, think it was Kyle Krabbs

based on what the national media thought before the draft, obviously the pick was a reach for them

no one is Chris Jones, but Grant may be close in time

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Grant was a good pick, Grier doesn’t need to justify it by saying other teams wanted him. I don’t care either way really, his record in general speaks for itself, one pick doesn’t change that either way.

  34. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

One thing we do know is Grant is going to play right away because he has to.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Unbelievable

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Like it’s not because they liked the QB Jaxson Dart better than Shedeur Sanders, it’s a white vs black issue. This is the new fucking America we live in

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

they can’t live off of policy, so they have to come up with this BS

and then hook line and sinkered, the retards buy into it

Hilllary told us this in her email, she said, we want to keep the people dumb and compliant

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

racists are as racists do, people that bring it up…

  37. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

VGK like last year playing with no passion/energy

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

could you imagine the drama, if we took Shedeur?

Grief or 🧁 aren’t man enough to make that selection, their frail egos couldn’t handle it

  38. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I gotta think people passed on Sanders bc it’s worth waiting for next years draft. To be honest, I think the giants were crazy to trade up for Dart

Next years qb class is going to be very good. Why settle for a guy you have to commit to for 4-5 years to be average

  39. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Regarding Grier saying he got 3 texts from teams just behind us wanting Grant…

I would have been over the moon had we traded down to the Cards @ R1P16, got their R3P78, and taken Walter Nolen.

It really doesn’t matter now as it’s water under the bridge. I’m HAPPY with Kenneth Grant.

  40. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I think we almost have to take an O-Lineman @ R2P48, being the herd really thins out come the 3rd round. That, and our comp pick @ R3P98 is essentially a 4th round pick.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Now if for whatever reason we do NOT go O-Line @ R2P48, Grier had better have Brandon Scherff or the like on speed dial.

    M13,

I love my Iowa boys but Scherff is seen as like the 85 or 90 best FA. I haven’t watched him play lately, but that’s not a good ranking. I’m not sold that he’d be the answer to anything.

But, short shrifting the OL is a yearly ritual. Lol

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I feel Scherff could be a bandaid for this season as he’s getting long in the tooth, but he’s still very serviceable.

We could also easily afford to bring Isaiah Wynn back on the cheap. When he’s healthy, he’s a real difference-maker… particularly in the running game.

I’m going by memory on a study I’d done… there’s something like only 1 game where Achane hasn’t gone over 100 yards when Wynn was starting.

The thing with Wynn? His availability, of course.

He re-signed with us last season for a cap hit of $1.59M. I’m guessing he could be had again for even less this season.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – Fuck Wynn, no more injured fuckers letting us down on this team, we still have plenty more to fuck us including the $212M wonder, as well as Chubb, Phillips and a few udder guys. lol

  49. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Brian and Mike, the Mets look like a really good team.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

They sure do. They seem to have a system to bring in a certain type of pitcher and resurrect them. It’s working, and it’s so big for them. If it continues to work, not only will more pitchers want to come here, but they won’t have to overspend to get top tier pitchers. It will somewhat offset the Dodgers ability to sign every damn Japanese star that come to MLB

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Absolutely. Jeremy Hefner has done nothing short of a miraculous job with this pitching staff the past two years. They have no reason to be as good as they are.

  50. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

Man, not too long ago I went on a Rodney Dangerfield-fest on Youtube. IMO, he’s definitely one of the more under-rated comics of all-time, despite being legendary.

I’m not hating on him. I just don’t understand bringing in a bunch of old OL. We should be getting younger. It isn’t about THIS year.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I completely agree with that. I wanted an OL in RD1, it didn’t fall that way. If we really wanted Scherrf we would have signed him. We’ll be getting OL next pick or the one after. I’m so curious to see if we move Ramsey

  55. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Back to foosball, I DO believe we’re one good Guard away from making the Dolphins great again on Offense.

Addressing that situation this evening or via FA becomes the question.

So in the event we don’t address that situation this evening (again, better have FA Brandon Scherff or the like on speed dial), I could see it being a DB.

  56. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Brian, when I would do a no trade down mock, many times I took Kenneth Grant.

  57. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The next top 3 most athletic OL per nextgen stats are all 3 Georgia IOL. Milan would be nice but I take Ratledge in a heartbeat.

  58. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I don’t get what was so funny about Tim’s comment or MIke’s pile on. It wasn’t particularly witty and was just basically a juvenile sarcastic swipe out of nowhere.

In the mean of “I’m sorry happy for you” in a sarcastic tone.

As if I am the only one who spams the board with mock drafts. I reported that I was having issues cutting and pasting all of the sudden because it had not been an issue prior and was wanting to hear back from the other guys who were able to post their mocks if they were having any issues.

No humor there. I hope you all laugh so much when I reply to your posts “how nice for you”

It doesn’t really bother me so carry on with it if you like.

  59. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

MF13, I disagree with you on being one guard away. I know Armstead was injured a lot, but Patrick Paul is not a pimple on his ass at this point when it comes to performance. Paul was the fourth worse rated LT when he played last season. I don’t have confidence in him depending on who is next to him. IF it is Paul Eichenburg Brewer then we are fucked. Paul Rookie Brewer doesn’t give me warm fuzzy feelings either.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I just reread your post and you didn’t specify a rookie guard. I just assumed because it’s the draft today, but I stand by my argument. I think Brewer is too small and Paul is an unknown at this point.
