Stop the nonsense! Sign Savaiinaea

I know just about all of the Finsmobunleashed group up to a point. I have met just about all of you, and/or have conversed on this blog for over a decade. I know one thing remains constant across the board, and that’s that we all want this team to win and have a great season. There is an exception, and that would probably be me. No one here perhaps with the exception of Rock is more critical of GM Chris Grier, and yes, sometimes, admittedly I hope that if this team fails this season, Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross would finally fire GM Chris Grier and hold him accountable. For those of you that just want the Dolphins to play well and win, let’s took a look at the evidence of why we need to sign OG Jonah Savaiinaea and have him prepared and as ready as possible to begin this season, shall we?

“For us, just candid, this was a player we had targeted, we spent a lot of time with, we had him in on a 30 visit, spent a lot of time at all-star games,” Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said of Savaiinaea in April. “Butch (Barry) went out and spent a day with him and had a private workout with him. This is a player that we were very convicted on for what he can add with his size, his power, he’s got versatility.

“He’s played tackle, guard. So he’s an athletic kid, and as we spent time getting to know him he was the right kind of guy for us. He loves ball, he’s very competitive, so for us it was important as we were going through the board that he was the highest rated guy we had. And so the opportunity arose and we took it.”

That was Chris Grier, in his own words. He didn’t select this player and trade up for him so he can play contract games with him and have him miss learning his job and being an integral part of this offensive line, immediamente! Grier took Big Jonah Savaiinaea to start at one of the offensive guard spots and it looks like that’s going to be RG, with free agent OG James Daniels slotted to play LG. I know we all worry about different things at different times but all of a sudden some of you have become the responsible police on cap management and contracts. Stop the nonsense! Grier has been absurdly irresponsible regarding the cap, handing out extensions to the wrong players, letting our own players go in free agency and overpaying for others teams free agents in trades and free agency. The totality of the contract for Jonah Savaiinaea is $11.32M. Just get it done, even if you have to make the whole damn thing guaranteed. Believe me, this contract will not be the one that haunts this team, there are so many others with far worse ramifications and bad results that I can point to.

I’m sorry, I love you all here, but if you really want this team to succeed, you know that our rookie RG needs to have every minute in training camp so he can be the most prepared he can possibly be, so now is not the time to put the cork in the bottle. If we were going to do that, we wouldn’t have allowed Grier to extend Jalen Ramsey who is now on the Pittsburgh Steelers, or Tyreek Hill who will probably play his least season in 2025 with the Dolphins as his cap hit becomes unacceptable in 2026. I’ll add in the contract for QB Tua Tagovailoa who if they played him on his 5th year option, would have been far less after once again missing 6 games and failing to get the Dolphins a playoff victory and continues the streak of no playoff wins to 25 years. We wouldn’t have traded multiple picks to acquire Bradley Chubb and pay him the money that could have been used to pay our own DT Christian Wilkins or OG Robert Hunt. Since we got Bradley Chubb in 2022, he has given us 13.5 sacks. He’s currently on a 3YR/$54M contract that runs through 2027 when Chubb will be age 31. So, worrying about guaranteeing the $11.32M for Jonah Savaiinaea is not the biggest problem. I know you’re worried about precedent, that we’ll have to pay every 2nd RD pick from now on a guaranteed contract. You know what, draft better, and it won’t really matter much now or in the future!

Not surprised about Waller. He still has to get into football shape as he has said himself.

Bruskill makes sense as a replacement for Eich. He played 4 years in this kind of system with the 49er’s starting 42 of 61 games and started in 3 playoff games.

He started at OG in 23′ for the Titans then moved and started at Center for the Titans last year.

Tyreek is our dynamic player, to beat the elite your elite must play like it, as he did a couple of years ago in 4th qtr against Baltimore

if our OL can give Tua 3 seconds to throw our entire O opens up and allows us to compete with the 3 elites

Waller designated on the PUP list when the Dolphins announced their daily transactions at 4PM EST. But he spoke to the media before then and, in hindsight, certainly teased that his on-boarding process with the Dolphins amid a return from retirement was going to require special planning and that Miami has worked to form that process in the build-up to training camp.

“It’s a journey, man. A lot of, my body is like ‘oh we’re doing this again, we’re doing these movements again.’ It just takes time, you know? So, me and the plan that these guys have for me for training camp, it may look a lot different than a lot of guys because it is a different situation. I have been in shape and doing a lot of crazy different workout things in my retirement but it hasn’t been football-specific movements. So there needs to be a solid foundation that’s laid before you can just go out there and — I’m going to want to go out there and go 120%. Sometimes you gotta save me from myself.”

    ———————-

Piggy, he did not grade very well in the Titans system, ranked low. When he played for the 49er’s in the Shanahan system, he graded much higher before getting beat out at Center after MM left.

I think it has more to do with him and MM being together on the 49er’s for 3 years and him knowing MM’s system. He started 17 games at RG in 2021 for the 49er’s when MM was the OC there.

It does make me wonder why he wasn’t on the radar prior to signing Borom or resigning Eich.

Steve – I touched on the Waller stuff in one of my articles. I think they’re going about it all wrong. I’d throw this guy into combat ASAP and see what his deal is. It’s just prolonging the inevitable that he’s gonna tank and quit. Guy hasn’t played in a long time, he needs action. They need to test his mettle

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

They should. One thing about his contract is he only got a 2m base salary contract with incentives, no signing bonus and zero guaranteed money. They can cut him at any time and will have no dead cap.

The only loss will be the swap of our 2026 6th round pick for a 2027 7th in return.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Liam Eichenberg will miss “weeks” in his press conference before the team’s first training camp practice on Wednesday.

  14. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    From Alain Poupart:

Along with the three players on injury lists — Liam Eichenberg, Darren Waller and Ifeatu Melifonwu — center Aaron Brewer was missing from practice.

Cornerback Artie Burns was at practice, but left early.

The first noteworthy play of practice came in a 7-on-7 session when rookie QB Quinn Ewers completed a pass down the left sideline to tight end Hayden Rucci for about 15-20 yards.

Zach Sieler, who is looking for a new contract, took part in the 11-on-11 work. In fact, he got penetration on a running play right off the bat.

Veteran free agent pick-up James Daniels committed a false start on back-to-back snaps. Remember that he didn’t take part in 11-on-11 work in the offseason as he continued to work his way back from his 2024 Achilles injury.

Linebacker Willie Gay Jr., who we’ve told you to watch as a surprise major contributor, met Jaylen Wright in the backfield as soon he got a handoff.

The second set of 11-on-11 work began with a nifty completion over the middle from Tua Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle.

Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson both got pressure on Tagovailoa on a pass play.

Zach Wilson showed great ball placement on a throw over the middle (and over a linebacker) to Erik Ezukanma.

Malik Washington, who looked really good in the spring, had a nice diving catch on a pass from Tua over the middle.

Tight end Tanner Conner fumbled after catching a pass from Quinn Ewers while running down the field and having the ball punched out from behind. CB Cam Smith recovered the fumble.

Tua Tagovailoa was sharp with his accuracy, completing a bunch of short and intermediate passes.

There were some good moments from two 2022 mid-round picks who need strong camps to make the team. One of them, linebacker Channing Tindall, stood up rookie running back Ollie Gordon II on an impressive defensive play.

Meanwhile, receiver Erik Ezukanma caught a 20-yard pass from Zach Wilson and a 15-yarder from rookie Quinn Ewers

There was one scary moment: Rookie cornerback BJ Adams fell to the ground after an apparent collision, got up with help, then dropped to the ground again — with his hands cushioning his fall – before being assisted off by team personnel. But he returned to practice a bit later.

Zach Sieler participated in both individual and team drills. That was in question because he’s reportedly seeking a new contract.

Guard James Daniels, back from his Week 4 torn Achilles last season, participated in parts of teams drills before leaving to do conditioning work. Daniels, who is playing with a brace on his left knee, looks very fluid and moves well getting to the second level. He was called for a false start early in team drills.

Guard Braeden Daniels is worth watching. He’s fluid with his movement skills.

Bradley Chubb was positioned to get a sack, but Austin Jackson held him and drew a penalty.

Alexander Mattison showed good burst on a run; he’s competing with Jaylen Wright and rookie Gordon for carries. Nate Noel, the rookie from Missouri, showed physicality on a 6-yard run.

Ewers had a nice 20-yard completion to Arkansas rookie Andrew Armstrong. The Dolphins have $234,000 guaranteed to two rookie receivers — Armstrong and Theo Wease Jr., a sign that a team believes a player has a decent chance of making the team.

Jaylen Waddle caught a 20-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa, and Alec Ingold then turned upfield on a short pass from Tagovailoa and gained about 25 yards.

Running back De’Von Achane had a nifty 20-yard run.

Tagovailoa was sharp on a 10-yard completion to Malik Washington, who likely has the inside track for the No. 4 receiver job. Tagovailoa then completed a 15-yarder to Dee Eskridge.

Tight end Tanner Conner fumbled after a reception and 20-yard run, and Cam Smith recovered and ran it back for about 20 yards.

Rookie receiver Monaray Baldwin made a nice over-the-shoulder catch from Ewers, who threw one ball low but generally had a good day.

I don’t disagree with ya there, BBM. Just sayin’ that we had a plan going into TC, and it’s already had to be altered due to circumstances.

  24. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I don’t understand why Eich hasn’t translated to the NFL level. It doesn’t seem to me that it’s a matter of lacking the effort, either. He was a STUD on the Notre Dame O-Line as a premier LT, they employ the OBS as we do, he was HIGHLY successful, he’s not under-sized, he displays excellent character, he’s highly positional versatile, seems reasonably intelligent… yet he’s been a gigantic disappointment in the NFL thus far.

Sucks that he’s going to miss some time with injury, but he really hasn’t progressed as he should have. And it additionally sucks that he’s going to miss time to progress any further.

  25. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Regarding Artie Burns… when was the last time a team feared the worst (ACL tear), and the MRI came back negative? RARE. Team doctors KNOW what it looks like through years of experience.

Burns likely tore his ACL, and I’m not sure we even need to wait for the MRI to come back positive.

So what am I sayin’? Get a vet CB signed before any other team has a CB go down in TC. We’re in the driver’s seat right now and we should capitalize on the moment. Don’t be slow on the draw and allow another team to take ‘pole position’ from us.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

By the same token, there’s no need to pay outrageous $$$ to anybody; there’s no need to hit the panic button. Rasul Douglas should come to his senses and realize that he has a really good chance to start in Miami due to our fledgling CBs.

He may not get that chance on another team, where their starters are almost set in stone… but for a few teams where TC battles are occurring.

    Day 2 from Alain Poupart

Nose tackle Benito Jones wore the orange jersey as the player of the day Wednesday.

As was the case Wednesday, rain came down during practice, though not as consistently.

There again were two officials on hand, and they were busy throwing flags.

In the opening 7-on-7 session, Jaylen Waddle made a nice sliding catch over the middle on a pass from Tua Tagovailoa.

On the next play, Kader Kohou had nice coverage on an in route by Tyreek Hill and batted Tua’s pass away.

Zach Wilson showed great zip on a completion to Malik Washington.

Quinn Ewers showed great ball placement on a completion to Tahj Washington and later on a seam completion to tight end Jalin Conyers.

Rookie CB Jason Marshall Jr. had tight coverage against fellow rookie A.J. Henning.

Tight end Tanner Conner had a nice snag on a high sideline completion from Tagovailoa.

Erik Ezukanma failed to come down with a perfect sideline throw from Zach Wilson.

On the first play of 11-on-11, the offensive line created a nice hole up the middle to free De’Von Achane.

The first pass of 11-on-11s was a nice mid-range completion from Tagovailoa to Waddle.

Chop Robinson had some pressure on Wilson, who then threw an ugly incompletion in the flat.

Linebacker Quinton Bell had a nice sequence where he forced the running back inside twice.

There was some sloppiness in a sequence that featured two false starts or illegal procedure penalties followed by an offside on the defense.

Benito Jones got quick penetration on a running play.

Jaelan Phillips led the charge in stopping a run cold on the first play of the next 11-on-11 series.

Kohou had good coverage on an deep incompletion for Hill.

Yet another false start for the offense. Ugh.

Wilson had another good completion with a dart to Tanner Conner over the middle.

Ewers dropped his arm angle for a second time in practice on a short completion to Ollie Gordon II

CB Ryan Cooper Jr. missed an interception when he dropped an overthrown pass by Ewers.

Tua had a nice long completion (about 20 yards) over the middle as Hill ran across the field.

Wilson took a deep shot for Malik Washington, but the pass into double coverage was overthrown.

Quinton Bell, who had himself a very good practice, beat Julian Hill on a pass rush and was held.

Kendall Sheffield, a darkhorse candidate at cornerback, had blanket coverage on Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to force an incompletion.

Here we go again, another false start (or illegal formation) on the offense.

And that’s followed by an offside on the defense. Sloppy practice.

Corner B.J. Adams broke up a pass intended for fellow rookie Theo Wease Jr.

Bradley Chubb blew past Patrick Paul on a pass play and was held to keep him away from Tagovailoa.

  43. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    Omar’s observations:

Tua Tagovailoa had a pretty good day. He completed a 20-yarder to Jaylen Waddle, but Kader Kohou prevented a completion on a Tagovailoa pass to Tyreek Hill. But later, Tagovailoa hit Hill for 10 yards, his first catch in the early stages of training camp. And a few minutes later, Tagovailoa hit Hill for 25 yards.

Tagovailoa completed a 22-yard pass to Waddle, who contorted his body to make a nice catch. Practice ended with a Tagovailoa incompletion to Waddle.

Kohou had very good coverage on an incomplete pass from Tagovailoa to Hill. Kohou disrupted Hill’s route.

Among Thursday’s mishaps: Malik Washington fumbled after a completion, and rookie safety Dante Trader Jr. recovered… Waddle dropped what should have been an easy completion over the middle…. Penalties torpedoed three straight plays — a combination of false starts and offsides. Five more penalties followed later. There were at least four false start penalties.

De’Von Achane’s speed and burst were on display, with two long runs that could have gone for touchdowns.

Rookie running back Ollie Gordon II made a nifty move to escape a defender on a four-yard run. But another Gordon run was snuffed out by Quinton Bell.

Center Aaron Brewer remained away from practice and was wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg. Andrew Meyer continues to get a lot of work at center.

Linebacker Bradley Chubb, who missed last season after three major knee injuries in Week 17 of the 2023 season, was no longer wearing the knee brace that he used during Wednesday’s session.

Tight end Tanner Conner, who had a fumble Wednesday, came back strong Thursday by extending his arms on the sideline for a 20-yard reception from Tagovailoa and then catching a 25-yarder from Zach Wilson.

Linebacker Derrick McClendon and defensive lineman Matt Dickerson combined on a sack.

Zach Wilson was pretty good, completing a 20-yarder to Tarik Black and a 25-yarder to Conner.

Erik Ezukanma then dropped a long pass from Wilson; Ethan Bonner and Trader had good coverage, but it probably should have been caught. Ezukanma failed to haul in another Wilson pass, but there was good coverage on the play. Wilson overthrew a deep pass to Malik Washington, with Patrick McMorris providing very good coverage.

Rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers completed a 20-yard pass to Malik Washington. Ewers and a 15-yard pass to rookie tight end Jalin Conyers in 7-on-7 work. But an errant Ewers pass was nearly intercepted by second-year cornerback Ryan Cooper Jr.

Linebacker Jaelan Phillips stuffed Achane for a 1-yard loss on a running play.

New guard James Daniels, coming off a torn Achilles in Week 4 last season, participated in two sets of team drills, after participating in only one on Wednesday.

Jaylen Wright had a nice cut-back on a sizable run. Alec Ingold stood up Jaelan Phillips on the play.

Bonner had a good day, preventing a completion from Tagovailoa to Hill.

Bell drew a holding penalty on Julian Hill.

Mo Kamara had a nice play to stop a running back in the backfield.

Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick appeared to be giving Tagovailoa some tips in an animated teaching point discussion.

Jaylen Wright flashed his speed on a 15-yard run.

Chubb destroyed Patrick Paul on a sack.

Kohou is balling early and I’m not surprised. He is very consistent and has become the leader of that CB room. Quit fucking around with these one year deals on him. Extend that man!

Our young CB’s are making plays and giving up some. NO INT’s after 2 days of practice. Yet again, Bonner is a training camp stud.

Man, our OLB group is going to be sick if they all stay healthy. Not just talking about Chubb, Phillips and Chop. Quinton Bell brings a lot to the table as a stout run defender with some pass rush ability. That’s a strong 4. We heard Grayson Murphy’s name a lot during OTA’s, not yet during TC. Is Kamara a poor man’s Quinton Bell?

Benito with the orange jersey and made a big play in the backfield again today. I think some underrate him too much.

These media guys never really mention how the OL guys are doing. Maybe they don’t have the knowledge to evaluate that. I wish there was one media person who would focus on just that since it’s been such an issue and not just what happened on the play. Maybe we get more of that when the pads come on.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cam hasn’t shown anything to this point. I don’t expect him to be a meaningful contributor. Same with Tindall. Both are busts.

I like Wright, and it was stupid he wasn’t more involved last year since he produced every time he got touches; and I don’t buy the ‘he didn’t know the playbook’ stuff. They got him touches and he made plays, yet we can’t get him a few more touches per game…horseshit.

    @WingfieldNFL

Day 2 notes: Loved the start of practice as the Dolphins hit two explosive runs sandwiched around a ~20 yard completion to Waddle. The OL reset the LOS on an Achane run that might’ve gone the distance. Jonah Savaiinaea moved Zach Sieler off the ball maybe more than I’ve seen anybody ever accomplish in a camp practice.

Austin Jackson had a seal on a big run outside. After that, though, Jordyn Brooks started making run throughs and blowing some plays up. He looks in midseason form.

Tua was on point today, especially with the anticipation throws in the deep intermediate – looked very 2022/2023 Dolphins. Waddle made three such catches including a beautifully timed crosser 25 yards down the field.

Tyreek ran the best route of the day to widen a corner, cross face and catch the ball 25 yards downfield with more yards after catch.

Defensively, it was all about strength to me today. Jaelan Phillips set hard edges throughout practice. He made backs change tracks on 3 occasions I saw.

Bradley Chubb was right there with him, also had a sack and an immediate pressure that forced a throwaway. Chop Robinson had a sack and Grayson Murphy had a nice inside rush that forced a quick throw and a subsequent dropped INT.

Jordan Phillips looks like a problem to me. He gets off the ball so quick and then goes to the power and strength to overwhelm guys. He reset the LOS a couple of times.

Kader had a really nice PBU in 7v7 on Tyreek. Read the leverage broke underneath and threw the hand in there. Thought Ethan Bonner had one of the better days of the corners – he stayed on a vertical route, perfect throw by Wilson, and poked it out at the end.

It’s fun to watch Minkah work against the vertical ball. There was a coverage sack where Tua wanted to go deep, but Minkah was all over it.

  67. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed cornerback Cornell Armstrong and offensive lineman Obinna Eze. The team also placed cornerback Artie Burns on the injured reserve list and waived offensive lineman Tedi Kushi.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Eze joins the Dolphins after spending last season on the New York Jets practice squad. He started the summer with the Jets but was cut on Tuesday. Eze, listed at 6-8, 325 pounds, has never played in an NFL game and had brief stints with the Lions and Steelers.

The Dolphins are clearly looking to add offensive lineman with size, especially at tackle, and Eze fits that mold. He’ll have a decent number of names to climb over if he wants to make the team or even the practice squad.

  68. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Apparently the Dolphins worked out 6 players yesterday, 4 of them being CB’s to include former 1st round pick C.J. Henderson.

Raiders are going to have to settle with Wilkins. Can’t cut a player while he’s injured

  70. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Wow! You guys are right. Shocker!

The Raiders are cuttingChristian Wilkins in the wake of a dispute over whether or not he should undergo surgery on his injured foot, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.

Wilkins, who fractured his foot last season and missed all but five games, went on the physically unable to perform list to begin training camp and had an uncertain timeline to return. While the team wanted him to get surgery, the 29-year-old declined after receiving several opinions, per Rapoport.

Las Vegas confirmed Wilkins’ release shortly after.

“We have decided that it is in the best interests of the organization to move on from Christian Wilkins and he has been informed of his release from the team,” the Raiders said in a statement. “This franchise has a Commitment to Excellence on and off the field. With no clear path or plan for future return to play from Christian, this transaction is necessary for the entire organization to move forward and prepare for the new season.”

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The move could lead to some argument over his guaranteed money remaining, with $8 million on the books for 2025 after Wilkins made $29.2 million last season and already $20.5 million this year, Rapoport added.

Eventhough I wasn’t a huge fan I really respected him for how he helped Andre the Giant leave wrestling. It was a gift to Hogan that Andre allowed him to slam him. The only wrestler to ever do it. Wrestling was so damn good back then.

  80. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Due to how Wilkins treated the rehab from his foot injury he suffered last season, the Raiders voided the remaining $35.2 million of guaranteed money left on Wilkins contract last month and today, Wilkins filed a grievance with the NFLPA.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I wouldn’t count on Wilkins signing with anyone until his grievance is settled. Two teams I can think of who need a vet DT and have the cap space are the Lions and 49er’s.

Center Aaron Brewer hasn’t practiced yet, but wasn’t put on PUP so he can work with Tua Tagovailoa on snaps. The injury is to the lower extremity and involves soft tissue, and “you should seem him sooner than later.”

“Super pumped” is how McDaniel describes how he feels about Minkah Fitzpatrick’s early days with the team. Talks about the command Fitzpatrick shows when he steps on the field. “And I see a guy that doesn’t underestimate the importance of earning his relationships within the team.”

    From Alain Poupart

Along with the three players on injury lists — Liam Eichenberg, Darren Waller and Ifeatu Melifonwu — center Aaron Brewer continues to miss practice with a lower-body injury that head coach Mike McDaniel said wasn’t serious. Rookie safety Dante Trader Jr., a fifth-round pick from Maryland also was missing.

Cornerback Kader Kohou wore the orange jersey as the player of the day Thursday.

Competitive work on this day started with 11-on-11s and the first play saw a completion over the middle from Tua Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle just past linebacker Tyrel Dodson Jr.

Sieler got penetration on a handoff to De’Von Achane.

Willie Gay Jr. undercut a pass intended for Tanner Conner and almost picked off Zach Wilson after he rolled out to his left.

Edge defender Derrick McLendon got quick pressure on Ewers, though he pulled up before getting to the quarterback. Call it a would-be sack.

In his second set of reps, Tagovailoa hooked up with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine down the left sideline for about a 25-yard gain. It was the first notable play of camp for NWI.

Cornerback Storm Duck blanked Malik Washington to force an incompletion on a short pass from Tagovailoa.

On Zach Wilson’s second snap of his second set, we have our first pre-snap flag of the day for a false start or illegal formation.

Wilson had a nice completion over the middle to Tyreek Hill after Grayson Murphy got close to him after getting around Larry Borom.

Quinn Ewers hooked up with rookie Theo Wease Jr. down the middle on a play where he appeared to beat Cam Smith.

Ollie Gordon II fumbled at the end of a running play, with McLendon holding the ball after the play, though it appeared Zeek Biggers first got to it.

Here comes another flag before the next snap. And after the Dolphins move to special teams work, here comes another flag for a false start.

Back to 11-on-11s and Sieler gets some pressure on Tagovailoa.

On the next play, tight end Pharaoh Brown seals off Chop Robinson on a running play.

Rookie safety John Saunders Jr. stayed with good coverage to eventually pull the ball away and cause an incompletion on a pass to Tanner Conner.

Mohamed Kamara got into the background on a pitch to De’Von Achane but held up and Achane took off down the left sideline.

Robinson gets some pressure on Tagovailoa (but holds up because it’s practice).

Safety Elijah Campbell came over to break up a Wilson pass intended for Dee Eskridge.

Under pressure from Jaelan Phillips, Wilson completes a pass in traffic near the sideilne to Tarik Black.

Wilson completes a short pass to NWI, but, wait, another flag for illegal formation, procedure or false start (all same signal).

Ewers had a great touch pass down the middle to Dee Eskridge in front of a deep defender.

The practice ended after another completion from Ewers, this one to Tanner Conner.

Overall pretty solid day for all the quarterbacks. No interceptions again (none in the first three practices). No deep completions, either.

  87. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    From Hal Habib:

Tua Tagovailoa opened 11-on-11 drills with a nice connection to Jaylen Waddle over the middle in traffic.

De’Von Achane then cut outside to gain running space around the edge.

LB Tyrel Dodson had deep penetration to possibly blow up a running play.

LB Willie Gay Jr. broke up a Zach Wilson pass, missing what would have been a walk-on pick-6 by inches.

The interior offensive line did a nice job opening a hole for Achane up the middle.

Tagovailoa capitalized on what appeared to be a missed assignment to hit Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

Tagovailoa’s pass to Malik Washington was broken up by CB Storm Duck.

In a scene the Dolphins hope gets replayed all fall, Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill, who had slipped beyond the defense.

Rookie QB Quinn Ewers, with one of his better throws, hit WR Theo Wease Jr. despite tight coverage.

RB Ollie Gordon fumbled, resulting in a scrum. S John Saunders Jr. got into a brief dust-up in the process.

LB Grayson Murphy drew a holding call as Tagovailoa looked for a receiver.

Wilson dropped a rainbow into Dee Eskridge’s arms.

Waddle caught a ball from Tagovailoa, then juked past Kohou.

Achane continued to show quickness and was effective as both a runner and receiver.

DB Elijah Campbell broke up a Wilson pass.

Ewers got better as the workout went on, including a connection with Eskridge.
