Not gonna lie, I’m legitimately excited to see some of our young guys play, and even some of the older guys too. I really didn’t think it would happen, as most of you know, I’m having a hard time being a fan of this team due to the current management, and the Head Coach. That being said, nothing could give me a jolt of enthusiasm more than to see some of our young players look like they can be NFL starters, potentially good ones! I expect there to be a certain amount of sloppiness, this is the first time many of the players we’ll see against Chicago getting their first televised game action and the big lights will be on, and that changes everything. It’s no longer just practice, and for some of these players, their performance in the 3 preseason games can be the difference between making the 53 and looking for a team to pick them up off of waivers.
We’re going to have a very young, unproven secondary, especially at the cornerback position. CB’s Storm Duck and Kendall Sheffield may be the boundary corners, while veteran Mike Hilton will be in the nickel. There are a few other CB’s who would love nothing more to not only win a roster spot but to steal a starting job. I believe that’s very possible here, it’s certainly written in pencil or chalk at this point and can easily be erased. Jack Jones who was with the Patriots and Raiders and now his third team going into his 4th year kind of needs to grab a starting spot and perform or he may never be considered for a starting spot anywhere. CB Ethan Bonner who always gets buzz in training camp needs to do more than that and make some plays with the lights on and get noticed. 2025 5th RD Pick CB Jason Marshall needs to make things happen to move up the depth chart and get a roster spot. It must feel like hell to be on a roster bubble, but sometimes stars are born when the pressure is on and the lights are on too.
The O-line right now is another are of concern and some positives. Already the depth will be tested with RT Austin Jackson OUT with a leg injury and his status for the regular season Game 1 is up in the air . OT Kion Smith has been here a while, and we have OL Liam Eichenberg who is the backup at every position on the O-line, as well as OL Larry Borom who is a backup at OG and OT. We also recently signed OT Germain Ifedi, so we have lots of bodies, but we need answers, one way or the other. Honestly, I can’t wait to see LT Patrick paul, although he may not play much against the Bears. Of course I want to see LG Jonah Savaiinaea and I want him to look like a beast. Not sure if james Daniels plays much either, but with him I just want to see that he’s healthy and moving well. C Aaron Brewer is also dealing with an injury, as is backup C Andrew Meyer. If it’s not Liam Eichenberg at C, your guess is as good as mine as to who else might play C, Daniel Brunskill, Addison West?
The front 7 is definitely going to be the strength of the defense, but that’s assuming our young players that we drafted get up to speed quickly. DT Zach Sieler got his well earned big payday, but next to him, big Benito Jones and 1st RD draft pick DT Kenneth Grant has to show quickly and be a force for us. The initial depth charts show us not working from the 3-4 base but I don’t think that’s necessarily a change in philosophy. I think we will try and put in some speed packages to get our best pass rushers on the field at the same time, but we will still operate from the base 3-4 which should feature RDE Zach Sieler, NT Benito Jones and LDE Kenneth Grant. At OLB depending upon the health of Jaelan Phillips and Bradely Chubb, those two probably start but I would expect to see an awful lot of 2nd year pass rusher Chop Robinson, and I mean a whole lotta Chop! The inside LB’s look as strong as I can remember with ILB’s Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson and Willie Gay and even KJ Britt. That’s a deep unit right there, and I haven’t even mentioned Channing Tindall. Back to OLB, Quinton Bell turned some heads again so maybe we see a little something from him and Cam Goode too. Mo Kamara might have a tough time making this roster.
At Safety, I think Minkah Fitzpatrick will be on the field the most, but who is with him again depends on health. Ashtyn Davis or Iffy Melifonwu will most likely be the other safety, and since it seems like Minkah will playing more of a centerfield role with us here in miami, Iffy Melifonwu is more of the SS type, but nothing is set in stone. We also drafted S Dante Trader and don’t forget about special teams ace Elijah Campbell who always impresses the coaches. I’m actually willing to give Minkah another chance, and I hope he surprises all of us by returning to his All Pro from back at his old position, not playing Strong Safety, and back with his old team. I’m sure the trade stung some, he’s a prideful fella, but having an All Pro season is the best message to send to Pittsburgh, as well as to become enamored by fans who weren’t necessarily sure if they liked the idea of him back in Aqua and Orange.
On offense, we have to stay healthy. I would expect RB De’Von Achane to see very little action, as well as QB Tua Tagovailoa. Besides, it’s really about the battle of the backups at both of those positions. At RB, it’s about 2nd year RB Jaylen Wright, veteran RB Alexander Mattison and 6th RD draft pick RB Ollie Gordon. At QB, there could be a dogfight for the backup spot with veteran QB Zach Wilson and rookie Quinn Ewers. Granted, Ewers faces an uphill battle because of who our starting QB is, Tua Tagovailoa and his tendency to get injured. Usually, you want a veteran back there, and last year’s hideous carousel of practice squad rejects was an embarrassment, but no more than relying on QB Skylar Thompson as the backup. Grier and McDaniel won’t get caught with their pants down this year so odds heavily favor QB Zach Wilson who has 33 NFL starts, and not the rookie 7th RD pick Quinn Ewers. Quinn Ewers though needs to show something for this team to carry him as the 3rd QB though, so he better up his game if he wants to be on the 53. The Dolphins could still elect to carry 3 QB’s if they like Ewers potential enough because if they put him on the PS, he’s as good as gone.
The WR spot will fun to see some good competition as well. Tyreek Hill won’t see much action if any, but I expect Jaylen Waddle to play some, and then someone needs to step up from the crowded WR room we have. We signed big WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine early on in Fre Agency after his impressive ’24 season in which he caught 32 passes for nearly 500 yards (497) for a nice 15.5 YPR as well as a heady 9 receiving TD’s. With TE Jonnu Smith gone, it makes sense to think that Westbrook-Ikhine could steal some of those catches, and that it would be nice to have a bigger bodied WR (6’2 211) on the field. Besides NWI, there’s always impressive slot WR Malik Washington who I’m looking forward to seeing some growth from. I think he can be a nice dependable receiver that can find the soft spot and get open when Tyreek and Waddle get the double coverage. He’s quick and shifty and he could get his share of targets. Then there’s good ole Erik Ezukanma who wows and disappears in equal measures. He better do more of the former, because if it’s the latter, he may finally ended his tenure here in Miami. The other Washington, Tahj Washington also needs to shine to make the roster. There’s also Dee Eskrdige who was a 2nd RD pick by Seattle back in 2021 who is fighting to make the roster. Hopefully we have some good competition there.
There’s also a battle for the Punter spot. Incumbent P Jake Bailey will have to be excellent to hold off the much stronger leg of Ryan Stonehouse. Stonehouse booms his punts but has lessplacement accuracy than Bailey. Still, I think the younger former Titans punter has the literal leg up on Bailey, averaging nearly 5 yards more per punt than Bailey. I think we all hope we aren’t punting very often but if we are, I think I’d rather take my chances with the booming leg of Stonehouse.
What are you excited to see? What players are you most anxious to see in action, and which battles are the one you look forward to most? I’m curious to hear your responses, I’m actually getting pumped to see what we got. Don’t mistake this as enthusiasm for our season, I’m nowhere near that yet, but I do want to see some young guys and some of our players returning from injury and how they look. this team has a lot of work to do to get me to feel positive about how our season will go, but maybe they surprise me a little how our young players perform and our botom of the roster looks. I can only hope!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Tim, for me, it’s Hill, Waddle, NWI, Washington, Washington and Eskridge.
Eskridge does have a slight problem with drops though.
I hate it as we could lose one or both of Wease and Armstrong.
I still really like Henning but that muffed punt hurt him. He averaged 32 yards on 2 kick returns and averaged 13.7 yards on 3 punt returns today. He only had 1 return in PS1, a kick return for 38 yards.
Jaxson Dart with another good day for the G-men.
Fuck! I didn’t realize this:
Ethan Bonner left the Dolphins’ preseason Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions with a potential injury in the first quarter. Bonner was injured after covering Tom Kennedy across the field. It looked like Bonner landed weirdly, and his leg got stuck a bit.
He immediately signaled to be taken out of the game and touched his right knee briefly. After spending some time in the blue medical tent, Bonner walked with a Dolphins trainer to the locker room and hasn’t returned.
It’s a hamstring issue
Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network reports that Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane has a soft tissue injury in his lower body that will keep him out “days & weeks. ”
McDaniel said, per Cam Wolfe, that he is not concerned about Achane’s status for Week 1 of the regular season.
McDaniel said Zach Sieler will also be out “days to weeks” with a similar injury. And again, he thinks he should be fine by week 1 of the regular season.

What are your 6?
the 4 locks Hill, Waddle, Washington, NWI
Eskridge and Tahj
if we keep the six that have been proposed (and I agree with it), we will have one wide receiver , NWI, that is over 5’10”. I’d love to stash Wease Jr. on the PS.
Write looked like shot yesterday
i’m so glad we used an extra pic to move up and take him last season to do nothing
I like Ollie in both the run and pass game.
Wright has looked very underwhelming, Ollie did run hard yesterday
I definitely like the depth at WR with the 2 Washingtons. I still think it would be wise to move Hill and keep one of the other guys. Hill isn’t taking us to the Super Bowl this year and our coach and GM must realize that.
I agree with this , never been a fan of Eskridge , but he looked okay yesterday
I’m not sure what to think of Jaylen Wright either. Last season he averaged 3.8 YPC, 0 TDs, and a long run of 20 yards on 68 carries as a rook.
Some thought he was doing well last season, but in reality, not so much.
We can cite the O-Line of last season, where Achane averaged only 4.5 YPC… down considerably from his 7.8 YPC on 103 carries in ’23 as a rook.
Preseason is always sketchy and the stats don’t really mean much being its practice in situations. We must be mindful that Wright was operating behind a very weak 2nd-team O-Line yesterday, and we don’t know the purpose of said play-calls… perhaps Wright was being tested on his weaknesses. However, Wright just doesn’t look like the player he was drafted to become… at least not yet.
I’m not overly concerned about Wright, but I’d be lying if I said he’s going to be just fine. He has yet to “SHOW ME”, as Old Dolfan says.
In the meantime, Ollie Gordon looks really good behind the same, very weak 2nd-team O-Line. But again, we don’t know the purpose of said play-calls. Perhaps Ollie was getting ‘gimmie’ runs while we were testing the weaknesses of our 2nd-team O-Line.
I just really hope we didn’t blow a 3rd round pick in this past Draft to trade up for Jaylen Wright in the 4th round of the ’24 Draft, as my guy Rockphin stated above.
It’s far too early to tell, and preseason isn’t going to answer these questions… but right now, I have my doubts about Wright now (<– see what I did there?! 😉 ).
Rich (and others),
I, too, feel we could capitalize with 2 Washington’s in our WR room.

Agreed, Brian. That would be a good move, IMO. And once Waller comes back, he’ll be another redzone target for us to pair with NWI.
It goes without saying that we’ll be carrying 3 QBs (Tua’s concussion issues) on our 53-man roster, right? And I don’t believe Quinn is going anywhere… meaning he’s in no danger of being cut, nor will we subject him to poaching via the practice squad.
Quinn looks really good, IMO!
IMO, Quinn looks extremely poised, delivers a VERY tight spiral, he’s decisive, and he can make some of those unorthodox passes like a Philip Rivers and Patrick Mahomes…
The very first pass on the video above looks like a CLASSIC Philip Rivers’ special.
The Mighty Quinn. Lol
YESSIR! The MIGHTY QUINN!!! 😀
Who was the last Mighty Quinn we had ?? I recall the moniker, but can’t remember who he was ?
Tanner Connor was very visible yesterday as a pass catcher.. won’t lie , I wasn’t watching his blocking 🤷♂️
Agreed, and same here, Manitoba… I wasn’t watching his blocking.
I saw one running play with either Wright or Gordon where there was a nice hole. All that needed to happen was the TE seal off the LB. Instead, the LB blew up Tanner and shoved him right into the hole sealing it off and ended up being a no gain when it could have been a nice run.
Wright flashes at times but the consistency isn’t there.

I know it wasn’t Brady 🤷♂️. Yeah I think it was him he was DE/DL and played well for a season or so for us 🤔
Ryder pumping out the video’s.
BTW, Ryder does have a background in scouting. He’s from California but lives in TN now. He actually went to college for this stuff and was a scouting intern at UCLA. He now works for a company doing college scouting. I think it is called Sports Info Solutions.
He just does these video’s because he is a diehard Dolphins fan.
LOL, you CAN’T go to college about this stuff, sincerely.
I think Ryder ROCKS, and I guarantee he learned more as a scouting intern at UCLA than anything he was so-called ‘taught’ in the classroom.
And this is the case in 95% of life.
The classroom doesn’t prepare one for REAL life. Where I’m at, those with college degrees can’t cut the mustard.
Hey guys, sorry I missed this week, we’re on vacation. I’ll get a fresh article as soon as I have the time, most likely Friday, but i.might try to squeeze one in earlier
That’s no excuse!!! 😉
MikeE, what you do is greatly appreciated!

M, I should have been more specific. His degree was in sports broadcasting but became immersed in scouting on his own then got the scouting internship at UCLA.
Says he became obsessed with scouting at an early age playing HS football as a lineman. Though, from what I understand, he never played any college ball.
———-
“Where I’m at, those with college degrees can’t cut the mustard.”
He probably realized he had no future in broadcasting with that voice. LOL
He seems to be doing all right doing what he loves to do. I have no idea what “Sports Info Solutions” is either. Sounds like something more stats or metrics related. It may just be a side gig.
Snap counts:
With three of their starting five offensive linemen sitting out, the starting group featured Kion Smith at left tackle, Daniel Brunkill at center and Larry Borom at right tackle.
Smith not only started the game, he played all 68 offensive snaps for the Dolphins, an extremely rare occurrence for a preseason game. Borom, Ryan Hayes and Jalen McKenzie wound up splitting the reps at right tackle.
After playing the entire first half against the Chicago Bears in the preseason opener, rookie second-round pick Jonah Savaiinaea played only 21 snaps this time, leaving the game in the second quarter.
The quarterback reps were split almost down the middle, with 35 for Wilson and 33 for Ewers.
For a second consecutive week, there was remarkable balance at tight end, perhaps an indication of the lack of separation among the group (with Julian Hill clearly entrenched on the roster). The four players used — Hayden Rucci, Tanner Conner, Pharaoh Brown and Chris Myarick — all played between 23 and 26 offensive snaps.
Rookie running back Ollie Gordon II got an extended look after replacing starter Jaylen Wright — and made the most of it. Gordon finished with 28 snaps, while newcomers Mike Boone and Aaron Shampklin ended up with 12 and 7, respectively.
Finally at wide receiver, Erik Ezukanma led the way with 32 snaps, probably not a great sign in terms of his chances of making the 53-man roster. He was followed by rookie free agent Theo Wease Jr., whose 31 snaps included six catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns but who still faces an uphill battle to make the roster.
The exceptions to the starters sitting out this game came mostly at cornerback, where Storm Duck and Ethan Bonner both started. The defensive line also featured two likely regular season starters, Benito Jones and rookie first-round pick Kenneth Grant.
Maybe this was a sign of his standing on the depth chart or a reward for his strong work in camp, but it was Derrick McLendon who started opposite Quinton Bell at the edge position along with K.J. Britt and Willie Gay Jr. at linebacker.
In the secondary, Cornell Armstrong got the start at the nickel spot, with rookie fifth-round pick Dante Trader Jr. starting at safety next to Ifeatu Melifonwu in his first NFL preseason action.
Trader wound up playing only five defensive snaps, which is odd considering this was his first game action and raises the possibility there was some sort of injury issue.
While Bonner ended up playing only six snaps on defense before leaving with a hamstring injury, Duck got a pretty decent amount of work (20 snaps) for a player seemingly penciled in as a starter. It kind of serves as a statement on the state of the cornerback position.
Given how active he was at times, it felt like Grant played way more than this final count of 16 defensive snaps.
While he started, Benito Jones ended up playing only seven defensive snaps.
Among the interior defensive linemen, it was rookie seventh-round pick Zeek Biggers who got the most snaps on defense with 31, six more than Matthew Butler.
As has become almost the norm in Dolphins preseasons, Channing Tindall got a lot of work, leading the way with 58 defensive snaps, 11 more than anybody else. Tindall was around the ball quite a bit, though finishing plays was a bit of an issue.
At cornerback, it was Isaiah Johnson and Cam Smith who led the way in defensive snaps with 34 apiece. The large number of snaps in his preseason debut for 2025 along might not bode particularly well for Smith keeping his roster spot.
Wease had a great game, but its preseason, where coverage is lax, fitting his traits
in the regular season coverage will be tight and he doesn’t seem to have a large catch radius or win enough 50/50 balls
for those reasons, just like EZ, I don’t see him as being a good pro
my sample size is small, so I could be wrong, but I’ve seen his type have a tough time in the NFL
he needs to excel in some aspect to make it, have great hands, or jump high or win 50/50 balls at a higher rate or be a dawg
otherwise he’s just another big WR, that can’t get separation
NWI struggles getting open too, but he has that knack for catching high contested balls, so that’s his superpower
Tyreek has decent hands, hops and speed, otherwise he’d fall into the little man’s version of can’t play in NFL

The #Dolphins are hosting free agent pass-rusher Matthew Judon on a visit today, source said.
Some potential edge help.
some people are reporting that we re expected to sign him
WTF, why? We are deep at edge. Unless they were lying to us about the extent of Jaelen Phillips injury.
Adam Schefter
Former Dolphins All-Pro CB Xavien Howard is signing with the Colts, per his agent David Canter.
This is nice to see. He looks to have the versatility to play boundary and slot.
Judon is almost Ogbah size. I wonder if they are considering him as a 3-4 DE instead of OLB/Edge.
Bengals have put Trey Hendrickson on the trade block.
Bengals are asking for a 2026 1st and a defensive player, not necessarily a pass rusher.
I wonder what the Vegas odds will be on when X is out with a groin injury. You know they bet on everything.
Will we see X starting game 1 vs the Dolphins???
@TomPelissero
New #Colts CB Xavien Howard is signing a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, per his agents
————
We couldn’t cough up a mere up to $5M to bring X back? SMH
“up to” It’s incentive laden. Like we did with Waller. Probably only a 2-3m cap hit.
X was almost as big of a malcontent as Ramsey was. Why on Earth do you sign a fading, average at best vet with a big mouth? He’d probably do more harm than good in a young, impressionable defensive backfield room. Glad we didn’t sign him.
Fine with X signing with the Colts. Time for the young guys to get their chance. We’re not competing for anything this season so let’s see what the young guys can do
I would really prefer if we kept one of the bigger WR’s like Wease or EZE over one of the Washington Clones, Eskridge or Henning.

I don’t believe X had a “big mouth” at all. He may have been greedy while he was with us, wanting to get paid what he thought he was worth, but he was never a locker room cancer as I recall.
Your point is understood, though. He’s no spring chicken, he could serve as a progress-stopper for the young bucks, and he may have lost another step since we last saw him.
Time will tell… I just want our Phins as competitive as possible… nothing less.
But my grandson was named after him 😳
Really? That’s pretty cool! I like that!
X is one of my very favorite Phins of all-time, being I’m the resident DB enthusiast. He was GRAND!
My Miami Dolphins’ Mt. Rushmore of CBs (in no particular order)…
Xavien Howard, Pat Surtain, Sam Madison, and Terrell Buckley.
Just missed: Brent Grimes.
Toast Buckley???
We traded for this MF back on 7 July and he is still not ready to go. WTF!
“I’m expecting to see him sooner than later,” McDaniel told reporters. “In the back of my mind, it would be this week, but I’m not going to just put him out there this week because I said it before. I’m hopeful, but it’s very soon. We’re just making sure all of our ducks are in a row before we take that listing off him.”
Talking about Waller
Cornerback Ethan Bonner will be out “weeks” with a hamstring injury; no other time frame was provided.
McDaniel said he is confident that starting right tackle Austin Jackson will be ready to play Week 1 vs the Indianapolis Colts. Jackson has been out of practice for a bit since he was stepped on during a play in practice.
Zach Sieler, who is dealing with a minor injury, will return to practice this week.
Running back De’Von Achane has a calf injury, and he will not practice at all this upcoming week. He said they are being cautious to have him for week 1 of the regular season, and it’s not an ongoing problem.
McDaniel said that nobody should read into the visit with Matthew Judon, meaning that Chop Robinson, Jaelan Phillips, or Bradley Chubb is injured. Per McDaniel,

The #Dolphins are expected to sign veteran edge Matthew Judon to a 1-year deal, source said, after a successful visit today. Some help before the season.
Some help at… what? We really didn’t need another EDGE guy, right?
Or are we about to hear that somebody is going on season-ending IR from our EDGE group???
WHAT THE FUCK?!!!!!!!!!!
@Marcel_LJ
The Dolphins have signed OL Mason Brooks and placed OL Yodny Cajuste on season-ending IR Cajuste just signed with the Dolphins four days ago, replacing Germain Ifedi — who was also placed on season-ending IR
We are trying to keep up with the Lions on who can put the most on IR
@TomPelissero
One year, up to $6 million for Matthew Judon with the #Dolphins, per source.
I swear to God, I don’t get it with this team. SMH
We should have fired both Grier and McD after last season ended.
And so much for the nonsensical narrative that ‘injuries happen to every other team, too”. The proof is in the pudding, y’all! This team hasn’t been able to stay healthy for over 25 years!!!
we signed Judon
https://x.com/rapsheet/status/1957558951098150939?s=46
Question remains, WHY???
And, who is getting cut to make room?
if we can’t get to Josh Allen – we can’t beat the Bills
and if we can’t beat the Bills, we aren’t winning anything
so now we have 4 edge rushers who will help bring waves of pressure
And our CB room is SHIT!
how good do you really think we are going to be by signing some journeyman CB at the 11th hour?
they are going with young players at CB
If we can’t get to Allen with Chubb, Phillips, Chop and Sieler, then Judon is not going to make one bit of difference.
^
And don’t forget about Mo Kamara. He should have grown after his rook season last year coming from Colorado State.

I absolutely agree with ya on “the 11th hour”, Pigster. This is a problem that could have been mitigated by drafting a CB in the 4th round of ’23, or in the 3rd round of ’24… not that Chris Grier has any kind of a good track record of drafting a stud CB early.
The trade ups, the trade downs… and our CB room was absolutely neglected. BUT, Grier made sure to pay Jalen Ramsey top $$$ not once, but twice, for only 1 1/2 years of service to our Phins.
It’s nauseating to me, man! We’ll see what happens…
This signing is about as bad as the Shaq Barrett signing.
Not to mention taking a roster spot from one of the young Edge guys.
Judon is not going to help us in the future when we lose Phillips to free agency and have to cut Chubb next year to make cap space.
I hadn’t even thought about that aspect. YUP! You are correct, BBM.
What in the world is in the water in South Florida that causes so many players to go on IR?
What’s going on with this front office?
^
Fire that clueless POS TODAY!! What the fuck is wrong with him?
why bother with a one year rental at a position? We have pretty deep depth at!?
How much cap do we have to clear now?
Fucking idiot will probably give him a three-year contract with two void years to spread out all the salary and pay vet minimum for the year this year. But take all the cap hit when he’s gone
BBMike
I really believe there is only one way to beat a great QB
And that is pressure on the QB
We haven’t played with a full arsenal of Chubb, Phillips and Robinson yet. So it’s not that we aren’t getting to him with those 3 – we haven’t played against him with those 3 together yet
And now we have a 4th to add to wave after wave of pressure
If we can’t beat the Bills, we aren’t going anywhere
And pressure on Allen is the only way to do it IMO
if you remember Chubb was out in game 1 last year
then Phillips and Chubb were out for game 2
and Chop is a 24 draft pick
Judon was meh last year and this will be year 10 in the league. He’s a bigger Edge who can’t drop into coverage.
Like I said earlier, maybe it’s not edge and they are looking a him as a 3-4 DE like an Ogbah type player.
Maybe it’s our 3-4 DE depth they are not liking.
I don’t know if you guys remember but earlier this offseason the Dolphins made a play on Joey Bosa
this was always their plan
That was a ploy to trick the Bills into grabbing the often injured Bosa. lol
it worked!
😂
I tell you, if we start off the season like we did last year, BBM is going to be a zombie the rest of the season.
Some rumblings out there with the Cowboys not being able to sign Parson to an extension and same with Bengals and Hendrickson. Both those teams will need some pass rush.
Dolphins have serious Edge depth now. Could someone be on their way out in a trade for a CB?
Chubb?
Only problem is neither have a CB on their depth chart worth trading for and they aren’t going to give up a starter.
Why do I feel like I will b a man of constant sorrow this season?
Guys, here’s the problem…
We don’t have man-to-man CBs, so as to JAM WRs at the LOS. Even if our pass-rush is ferocious, all the opposing QB needs to do is dump it off quick to a WR.
Tom Brady made a living off of this against our formidable Defenses over the years. Don’t be so quick to forget the lessons of the past.
Look no further than our own TUA, who has FEASTED on ferocious pass-rushers with his 2.2 second pass-time.
We need EQUILIBRIUM on Defense… not to over-stack one position unit at the cost of another.
Believe me… our CBs will once again going to be playing 10-yards off the LOS on average. That’s one of the disadvantages of playing a predominantly zone system.
And judging by the sizes of our CBs, they wouldn’t ever be able to jam a WR at the LOS.
Ya wonder why I wanted a man-to-man CB like X?
lots of articles out there about what’s really going on, after signing Judon
no one knows, because MM is such a jackass, won’t tell anyone shit, that makes sense
BBM going to bed now. I’ve been up for 27 hours straight. I got switched to 12 hour nights Saturday and Sunday night and my internal clock is all fucked up. lol
Sleep well, my guy! You deserve it.
PSG3 happens this weekend. After that, I’m very interested to see what our FMU season predictions will be!
And please… PLEASE.. no more injuries!!!
Why is everything a negative connotation? You don’t add a player like Judon if you’re not looking to compete.
In regards to the CB situation, maybe we’re waiting for the league cutdown to 53 to potentially sign a player or two. There might be slightly better pickings from that group than the players coming off the street right now.
We’re so effed at CB, I’m not sure we have any good choices at this point.
Reading speculation that we might be trading Phillips or Chubb for a CB.
I think this blog needs an extra strength dose of Prozac
Far as long as I’ve been reading it! 😉
Last year one of the biggest problems we had was lack of a rotation and depth on the DL and edge. We now have that and everyone is losing their mind
our front 7 is fantastic right now. Not exactly what you expect from a team that is “soft”
fantastic👍, especially compared to predraft
watched 2024 Judon highlights and 2022, in 2022 that was his big sack year, he was quick twitch and explosive, 2024 fat and not explosive
he’s still a good player, but don’t expect double digit sacks or anything close, 6 would be high end
on reason for signing Judon
One theory is our CBs are so bad, that we had to protect against a Chubb or Phillips injury, because if we can’t get pressure we’re screwed
Judon listed at 6’3 275, now I get it, he looks like a DE and not Edge, and likely is going to play some DT and DE and Edge if needed
think he’s a great depth signing, but but what about CB😪 there’s nobody out there that cracks our starting lineup, unless we make a trade
I think Grier is doing what he can to make us better. He just doesn’t draft CBs very well. Or most positions honestly. He’s 1 of 5 on drafted CBs. They were all fairly early picks, so he knows their value. He just missed a lot.
He knows he’s not the best and tried to get two elite FAs. The Cowboy one sucked, and the other one couldn’t get along with the hippy HC. It’s got to be hard to not only have to bring in top talent but also work with McD who’s just not a very good coach, much less HC. The guys he could get this year didn’t want to play for a HC who can’t win big games and doesn’t have the presence to intimidate strong personalities. We went from a choice destination to not even getting average CBs to come here to get overpaid. That’s not good. I think Grier is a very average GM and can have success…with the right coach. McD isn’t that guy.
New Age – You’re giving a pass to Grier because McDaniel is a bad HC. Do you think someone other than Grier hired McDaniel?
everything with Grier is someone else’s fault
he drafts the type of players the HC wants, so if they’re soft, that’s what the coach wanted
if he hires an HC that wants a fast finest team, that’s what the owner wanted
Grier has yet to stand on his own 2 feet
I think he was part of the process, but Ross seems very hands on with certain things. I think Tua and Ross are the primary reason Flores was fired. I think Ross was the person pushing hard for Brady, Harbaugh and Payton. There’s lot of evidence of this during his time here. So, is HC an important decision that Ross will put his input into? Pretty obvious it is. So, did Grier or Ross hire McDaniel? I know which one has more power, so I’ll go with that guy.
Maybe be even Grier realized we are fucked at CB, so he’s adding as many decent front 7 defensive players as possible because he knows the only hope is to get to the QB
We can hope all we want, but if we go into this season with Storm Duck as one of our starting CBs, it’s going to be a long season.
How about Kendall Sheffield? Confident in him?
I’m not
negative
Sheffield is listed as one of the starting boundary CB’s next to Duck. Our starting CB’s right now appear to be Duck, Sheffield and NB Hilton.
#2’s are Jack Jones, Bonner and NB Cornell Armstrong
#3’s are Marshall and Cam Smith
I am glad they got a good look at Marshall covering the slot. He looked much better than Armstrong there.
Sheffield is crap
The addition of Judon will really make it interesting. Is he even ready or will he be on the PUP for the next 6 weeks like Waller. SMH
Anyway, I think his addition will solidify we keep only 4 ILB in Brooks, Dodson, Gay and Britt. That will leave Tindall, Asante and Jackson getting cut. Hopefully we can get Asante on the PS.
Ourlads has our OLB depth at:
LOLB: Phillips, Chop, Goode, Kamara and McLendon
ROLB: Chubb, Judon, Bell and Murphy
That means they feel Kamara, Murphy and Mclendon aren’t ready. I think they only keep 5 OLB so who is #5? Goode, Bell, Murphy, Kamara or McLendon?
Probably Goode With the experience. Although we need to keep at least two of the others on the practice squad because he gets hurt every single year.
Yeah, Goode is a ST’s guy also. I think Bell (experience) and Murphy on the PS.
BBM softening up to this signing.
Ryder says IDK what happened in 2024, his production went down
in 2023 he was a lean mean fighting machine, 2024 he’s much slower, I’d think, because of his weight
Sounds like this is a little over a vet minimum contract with a bunch of incentives worth up to 6m. If that’s the case, then it’s worth it.
Again, incentives affect next years cap.
When is MM going to take the bubble wrap off of the tight end who is supposed to be our “starter” but who hasn’t taken a snap a game or in practice in over a year?
This just seems like they are either stupid or covering something up. How do you expect a guy to play in a system without, I don’t know….PLAYING IN THE SYSTEM!?
This looks like more typical mismanagement.
looks like more incompetent MM
I don’t want him getting a soft tissue injury, instead he’s rather have him ready by week 9, after playing sparingly the first 8
more I think about it, it isn’t really a bad plan, surely he’s not doing this, just saying
we have enough skilled players to bring him along slowly and have him ready for the 2nd half
Jonnu didn’t do shit until the 2nd half, after looking phenomenal in camp
Judon played for Weaver in Baltimore, surely he out in a good word, even though we aren’t getting that version
watching tailback comparison videos between Ollie and Wright, think Wright has something to worry about
hope MM let’s the best be #2, so far no comparison
Yea, I’ve become a fan of Ollie. I like what I’ve seen on his runs, plus his potential in the passing game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up as RB #2 behind Achane.
For those that were on the edge of their seat

Dolphins special teams coach Craig Aukerman says team went with punter Jake Bailey due to consistency.
😂
Bailey seemed to have been injured or something last 2 years, he answered the challenge
going into the competition Bailey had the advantage of being Sanders holder last year (great Sanders season), better kicking inside 20, and better directional kicker, so to be beaten out would’ve been really tough, let alone, had Bailey stated status quo
@B_Shousejr
I hope waiting this long was worth it
hopefully he signs for cheap and our youngins had good reps
@TomPelissero
The #Colts are naming Daniel Jones their starting quarterback, per sources. After a training camp competition with Anthony Richardson, Jones — the former #Giants starter — gets the ball Week 1 vs. Miami.
This is GREAT news!
not sure which is worse
except I would rather face Jones to avoid Richardsons mobility
we can probably get 10+ sacks against Jones…lol
This comes from a CBS article about then each team will have their first loss of the season.
Dolphins (vs. Patriots). This a game the Patriots’ new-look defense could end up dominating, especially against a Dolphins offense that hasn’t looked overly good in training camp.
Really?
If this happens I will lose my shit.
agreed, in Miami at 1pm in Sept, something the hack didn’t consider
Conner plays fast at times, but isn’t quick and doesn’t have moves or good hands, we can find a role for him, don’t expect anything special like YAC
Piggy, Daniel Jones is very mobile and can run too.
yes, but as Piggy said, he’s very sackable as he’s taken his share of bad sacks
Sounds like he’s excited?
Asante Samuel
Let’s gooooo!

Asante Samuel Jr. is visiting the #Dolphins today, per source. Miami could be adding some much-needed CB help
We have a need for corner help and he doesn’t have a team.
I think what we’re doing by adding Judon is Weaver wants a lot of depth on the edge so we keep coming play after play. I was impressed with our edge rushers in the first two preseason games and that wasn’t at full strength.
Asante would really shore things up. If the offense ever gets to expected form, we could lose another playoff game this year and I’m fine with that…because I have to be.
I really don’t have a problem with signing Judon, so long as we additionally address the CB room.
Being we’re bringing ASJ in for a visit, it tells me we’re still trying to address the CB room… so that takes the sting out of not signing X away from me.
Like I stated to Randy yesterday, I just want our Phins as competitive as possible… nothing less.
And by nearly every account, ASJ can NOT demand BIG $$$ coming off his injury. He’ll likely have to sign a relatively cheap ‘prove it’ deal for 1 year.
I didn’t expect us to sign X. We’ve been addressing corner all offseason and they keep going down. Only so much you can do.
Can’t ever give up!
That is… barring a HUGE MISTAKE out of desperation, of course. If we can still bring in a decent CB on the relative cheap, I say go for it.
I was just saying the pool is only so deep. We’ve probably had like 15 corners in camp. It’s crazy with the injuries.
Our window of opportunity is quickly closing. YES, our window has been open for several years now… but always derailed by multiple injuries to multiple key players.
Half-step now, and we’re looking at a total rebuild next season, IMO.
IF we can stay healthy this season, we still have a chance to make the BIG DANCE.

I got ya, man! 🙂
And you’re right… it’s CRAZY with the injuries this season.
We’ve just got to keep trying.
I didn’t say stop trying. We have been constantly.
I know… you and I are on the same page. As it stands right now, my only/greatest concern is our CB room, man.
Our defense will be lead by our front 7. If that gets compromised then we’re going to struggle. Minkah has to lead the secondary.

Roster moves: Dolphins officially signed LB Matthew Judon and CB Cameron Dantzler Sr.
They waived WR Tarik Black and P Ryan Stonehouse.
Texas QB Arch Manning speaks on Archie Manning’s comments that he won’t declare for the 2026 NFL Draft: “Yeah, I don’t know where he got that from. I’m really just taking it day-by-day right now.” We could see Arch declare in 2026

signing X would’ve lit up the national media, and for good reason
we got rid of all the problem child kind of players, Tyreek debatable, adding X would’ve been a WTF move
