Where do you stand?

Don’t be insulted. I probably laugh at more comments on here than I should, just as you probably dismiss my negativity as “Get off my lawn” nonsense. In other words, I’m on the right side of the image above, and I’m firmly planted there until this team gives me a reason to feel otherwise. Signing this guy or that guy does nothing for me at this point. Whoever comes on board right now has an awful lot of work to do to learn how we do things here. Whether you think RB Jaylen Wright has an empty space between his ears, or that our offense is excessively complicated, he couldn’t really contribute because Mike McDaniel didn’t trust him. On the defensive side, yes, we signed veteran Rasul Douglas and his own words basically said I’m just running around not really sure what I’m doing because it’s really different from what I’ve done.

I can start with TE Darren Waller who I said from “GO” was a joke. Well, he’s getting some practice in now, 2 freaking weeks before the season starts but we’re expecting him to perform like he did in 2020 because he will be reunited with then Tight Ends Coach and now Offensive Coordinator Frank Smith. I choose to look at the fact that he quit on his team last season, retired, and somehow we thought he’d be just as good as Jonnu Smith was last season, who gave us 88 catches for 884 yards and 8 TD’s. Jonnu worked hard for his yards, many of his receptions were close to the line of scrimmage and the fact that he had a 10.0 YPC average is more of a testament of how hard he had to work more than Tua throwing him open downfield. I could literally see Waller catching one of these short passes, getting blown up and then maybe deciding he’s better off retired after all. So now we have TE Greg Dulcich (Ooh, Aah!) and fans are excited. After catching 33 passes his rookie year, Dulcich has fallen off the map. 13 receptions over the last 3 years for 81 yards. We’re saved!!! Or maybe Tanner Conner who is the king of offseason hype will be our savior! Perhaps the offensive penalty king TE Julian Hill will be the phoenix that rises from the ashes. Just don’t bet on it, ANY of it!

The other big BUZZ is rookie 5th RD pick Jason Marshall Jr. now playing the nickel spot after about 4 or 5 other guys, almost all of them no longer with the team in any capacity. Oh there’s hype, the kid is really showing man, he’s gonna be great. Uh huh, sure he is. He’s really an outside guy who has never played inside, it’s not going to be easy for him to make that transition, just as Rasul Douglas, despite being a long tenured vet will have his issues learning our scheme. I have seen comments here such as “Our rookies are doing great!” In preseason? In practice? Temper that enthusiasm until we see live regular season game action. We do catch a break with QB Daniel Jones starting instead of QB Anthony Richardson due to injury. If our front 7 can harass him we should be able to stifle their offense. The thing that worries me a little is Daniel Jones can run, he’s a good athlete, not as big and strong as Richardson, but maybe a better athlete who has some wheels and if we don’t stay disciplined around the pocket, he can chew up some yards on the ground if there’s space in front of him.

Now it’s not all bad, as long as our offensive line does their job. Also, a huge must, we must have RB De’Von Achane healthy for game 1. I like what I’ve seen from RB Ollie Gordon, but we don’t really want to see him and Jamycal Hasty all game long, that might be a problem. The front 7, as long as our rookies play well, and they will be leaned on because they make up a good amount of the rotation on the D-line with Kenneth Grant starting at LDE, backed up by Zeek Biggers, and then Jordan Phillips at NT behind Benito Jones, so that’s half of the D-line rotation with 1 starting. Our OLB and ILB units are a strength of this team. The safeties remain to be seen, although there’s a lot of hype of S Minkah Fitzpatrick, although SS Iffy Melifonwu has not looked good so far, but again, you have to wait until the regular season starts to see what we have. S Minkah Fitzpatrick has the pedigree to a great player, and hopefully the trade from the Steelers lit a fire under him to return to his former All Pro level of play. We can only hope.

As far as Tua, he doesn’t worry me until he worries me, which is if the O-line is playing poorly, or we’re playing a really good team. I expect Tua to play well against the Colts and WR’s Hill,Waddle and (Malik) Washington, and to a lesser extent, WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Tahj Washington all relatively healthy. The TE’s, who knows, I don’t expect to see anything good there at all, but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. BTW, the article title was a rhetorical question, you guys are mostly hopeless homers that eat up the positivity faster than Joey Chestnut inhales Nathan’s Hot Dogs, and you know it, and you’re proud of it too! I also can’t believe the absurd amount of hype over these Rivalry Uniforms that apparently will be worn ONCE during a 17 game season. At least when we debut those silly dark uniforms, it’ll be in the evening so we don’t die of the heat.

I am the polar opposite my cup runneth over with optimism for this team I’ve been meaning to ask you to share some of your great articles on my site. It can balance me out from my overzealous attitude towards this team.

LOL! Markey, you can copy and paste any article you wish, that’s fine with me.

    • Jeff JT Trzcinski's avatar Jeff JT Trzcinski says:

Respectfully, what exactly are you optimistic about? This is the worst roster we fielded since the Cam Cameron 1-15 season. We only have 2 strengths: DL and OLB. The smart play is to trade one player of each for starting CB and OL. I can easily break down each other position and show how it is now worse this year than last year. Based on our schedule, the maximum games we can win is 7 and that’s if everyone stays healthy the entire season. Again, I respectfully ask you to be specific in how you feel this team is better than last years team.

Ha! All good Markey, I’d be happy to put some positivity here as well, it doesn’t have to be the dungeon of doom here, it’s just no one else wants to put anything out there here anymore. 🙂

  3. Jeff JT Trzcinski's avatar Jeff JT Trzcinski says:

The real question every Dolfan should be asking is, what would it take for Ross to fire Grier?!?! I wish Ross would come out publicly and say, “In order for Grier (and McDaniels) to keep their jobs, we must win (10) games” or whatever number Ross comes up with to hold this staff accountable. Grier has been with the Dolphins for what, 16 years? Yet we have been mediocre at best under him. Enough is enough already.

  4. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, I liked what I saw in the PS. Our front 7 should be good and we know we have playmakers on offense. STs looked better but we’ll see with Sanders being out for a bit. I really don’t know at this time until I see them play some games.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

ST’s definitely looked better but not having Sanders could drastically change that. The Cowboys game we won a couple of years that Tuaneers hang their hat on was won in large part due to Sanders kicking 5 FG’s, and some long range bombs too if I recall. I think 4 of them were 50 or longer and a couple maybe more than 55 yards.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That Cowboys game we ran it down their throat to seal it. I always thought that was a great team win, not Tua.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

you’re wrong Tim, I thought the same thing, but watched the full last drive last year and it was a good mix of pass/run with more passes I believe

the runs came late in the drive to seal it

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay I thought Wilson ran us to victory. Not that nobody else did anything. I said great team win.

  5. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I have a long time acquaintance who I see on the weekends at Starbucks. He’s a Dolphins homer (like I used to be). I saw him in Home Depot last night and he accosted me out of nowhere. “You know what!? I’ve kept my mouth shut for a couple of years now, but I think you are way off! Chris Grier is a GREAT General Manager”

    I laughed in his face

“You can laugh all you want, but I think he has assembled a great team”

I laughed again, this time louder. (His face got dark and mad) I said “What? You just told me I can laugh all I want!”

I quickly rattled off 8 or 10 huge mistakes Grief has made and pointed out the dead cap we are carrying already for next season, the paper thin depth on the Oline, the paper thin secondary, the small injury prone WR’s, the injury prone RB’s, etc, etc.

Now I have a bet that I HOPE I lose with him. I bet $100 that we will have 6 wins or less.

Mike E I think the glass is 100% full! It’s half full of HOPE and half full of guaranteed disappointment. Like a normal glass if half full of a liquid and then the rest of the way full of air…(like the heads of the hopeless homers on here)

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL! It’s not like we don’t have a body of work to look at and know what’s going to happen. If we couldn’t do it in 2023, we’re not doing anything this season. I think 6 wins is not outrageous, but we might squeeze out a couple more, which in my mind should still be grounds to fire Grier, along with the rest of his track record. We should be looking to draft a QB and I sure as hell don’t want Grier to have any part of that process, along with MM too.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

the reason we have hope is, because we have a QB, that can get us to 9-8 with avg things going right for the team, now if the OL comes around and the CBs don’t Colonblow we could win double digits

Tua has an overall winning record, that proves he can get us to middle of the pack

last year we were 8-9 with Tua out several games

2023 we started hot, then injuries, especially OL, and a playoff like end of schedule did us in

this season we’re worse at TE and CB, better at front 7, safety, backup QB, WR, OL and RB, if just Achane is healthy

  6. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Once again, thank you, Mike E. I just did you justice!

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Anyone here gamble on an online betting site? If so, can you tell me if there are odds for how many games Darren Waller plays for the Dolphins this season and what the line is please?

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we don’t need Waller, we have options, with or without him

this team is filled with plan B type of players, maybe to be used depending on how they matchup, we’ve seen and heard it on a limited basis, or if someone doesn’t work out

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

OK, but plan B, C, D and E suck, have sucked, and will always suck for us, so just having plans doesn’t really cut it, does it?

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

options are options, the more decent ones we have the better our chances

with 3 pass catching TEs one of them should at least be able to make some wide open catches, like TEs all over the league get, because of they’re mismatched and less attention given by a D

our DL and OLBs have lots of options, pretty sure you like those options

Jonnu caught a lot of balls last year, because of the off years by Hill/Waddle maybe due to Tua being out, some of those catches will go back to the WRs

  10. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

is it a coincidence, that last year we had an explosive TE and shitty O?

do we really need a TE to be a factor in this O?

seems MM wants to get something out of TE or we wouldn’t have 3 pass catching no blocking ones and only 2 blocking ones

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

“do we really need a TE to be a factor in this O?” My answer is no if we can run the ball better our TE’s are needed more for blocking than anything.

I don’t think in a perfect world that Jonnu Smith would have had the same this season that he did last season. (IMHO)

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Oh man, the offense was shitty because it was shitty, but the TE was the lone bright spot. Tyreek probably checked out and lord knows why Waddle couldn’t step up and be a #1. It was basically the De’Von Achane and Jonnu Smith show, and not by design. You would have thought Jaylen Wright would have seen a lot more action, but nooooooooooo. Also, the rest of the TE’s SUCK! They still SUCK!

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Wright was good early, before Jackson got hurt and we were all asking for them to use him more

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Jason Marshall is kind of a head scratcher, but why would they let Hilton go, if they didn’t have confidence in him? Or did Hilton fall off that much?

our nickelbacks have mostly forever sucked anyways in the passing game, and as long as his run support is up to par, we aren’t any worse, than any other year

  11. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Is anyone interested in my Sleeper FF Leage? The draft is next week Saturday the 30th it a $50 a team entry fee winner gets $300 and 2nd place $100. If so let me know and I will send you the link.

  12. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rock – Say YES!!!!!

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

To Jessica Alba asking me out!? LOL

      OF COURSE I WOULD!

But my point to Markeyh was that there is a better chance of her asking me out than Chris Grier being a great GM. 😁

  13. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Steve – Wasn’t Kader Kohou our NB last season? I don’t think he sucked, I thought he was at the very least average or better. Heck, we were going to play him on the boundary this season if he didn’t get injured.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

he was good in run support, a lot of balls were caught on him, but that’s the nature of a nickelback, since the throws are quick and short, if you can tackle and limit YAC you’re doing your job

I think Marshall can do that

  14. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Hey Jeff – Welcome back! Wanna fight? 😛

  15. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Jeff, if we don’t make the playoffs there will be major changes.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s something I also have zero confidence in. I think Grier would have to kill someone and be convicted for Ross to get rid of him. I think this whole “realization” campaign he’s doing right now with we can’t continue spending like we did and we have to get younger could actually convince Ross that he’s on the right track, despite it being akin to trying to buy a $40M house when your bank account reads $148.00

  16. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Let’s get real about the failed 2024 season. We lost our starting QB for 6 games. I contend that any team that loses its starting QB for 6 games (Buffalo, Baltimore, KC, etc) would have had a hard time making it to the playoffs.

And despite the fact that we lost Tua for six games, we were still in the playoff hunt up until the last game of the season.

The Dolphins started the 2024 season with a 2-6 record after Week 9. From there, they improved their record significantly, going 6-3 in their final nine games. The Dolphins went on a five-game winning streak in the middle of the season, from Week 10 to Week 14, to improve their record from 2-6 to 7-7. However, they lost their final game of the season to the New York Jets, sealing their fate at 8-9 and missing the playoffs.

Most fans would be positive looking at what this team did despite the adversities they faced. I see our 2025 team as similar on offense to the 2023 team, but healthier, and with a better defense.

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

      We went 11-6 in 2023!!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – You give more passes than Tua! We kept Skylar Thompson and ONLY Skylar Thompson on the 53 man roster knowing full well Tua is “Crystal Chandelier” reincarnated. Then we bring in a couple of QB’s from other teams practice squad and play them the very next game, such as Tim Boyle and Tyler Huntley and we’re going to give both Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel a pass on this? That was totally unacceptable, I would have fired both of those guys right then and there!!!

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Yes, Skylar Thompson “In Hindsight” was a mistake, but remember he played one hell of a game up in Buffalo in that Skylar Thompson played against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round of the 2022 NFL playoffs on January 15, 2023. The Miami Dolphins lost the game 34-31,

  17. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Hello Jeff! Nice to meet you! Welcome!

    Also, YOU ARE DAMNED TOOTEN!

  18. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – we scored 31 points in spite of Skylar, and there were numerous reports that he still didn’t know the offense last season and we all saw he looked like a deer in the headlights last year. That’s on both the GM and the Coach, they absolutely had to known this and prepared for Tua “The Frajeel” to be hurt. It’s like the “Cutman” not bringing his kit to a Chuck Wepner fight.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I agree with the 31 it’s despite Skylar, think we scored on D too, but he was so inaccurate it was painful to watch

I will give him credit for his pocket presence, it was outstanding that game

also this was the turmoil bills team, the one that got crushed by the Bengals the following week

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

I blame Mike McDaniel because he is the one who is responsible for player development and, most importantly, the QBs. I understand frustrated fans wanting to blame our GM, but Grier’s main responsibility is the provide the talent for the coaches to succeed, and when you look at this roster on both sides of the ball, we have the talent!

The question is, has Mike McDaniel grown up enough to lead this team based on the overall talent to a division title, because I feel we have the most talented team in our division!

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

MM is brilliant in some areas, the cheat motion for one, but when you’re too smart in one area, you’re generally subpar in others

where he’s subpar, besides communication skills, is being a man

I’d bet he feels lesser of a man, than anyone else in the locker room, to compensate he does weird things while trying to be everyone’s BFF

his presser’s are painful to watch, he’s an embarrassment to the team

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Well, I would call him an embarrassment, just annoying. I often wondered what it would have been like had Brian Flores been our HC with Mike as our OC? I also wonder what it would be like if Anthony Weaver were our HC and Mike was our OC as well.

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Skylar didn’t cost us that game depite being a rookie.

  19. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

your team should (before the season) mostly look better than the previous year, unless you blow it up or are coming off of a deep playoff run season

if you think about it, your GM usually gets players, that were an area of concern the previous year, you don’t expect to be derailed by previous year injuries, you don’t expect a unit to fall off like our 2024 WRs

that’s where the optimism comes from for me

  20. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Hill had a fracture in his wrist all year too, but chose to try and play through it rather than have surgery in season. Big part of why his numbers fell of so much. (not just Tua being out)

Also, We lost games PURELY due to Mike McDaniel bowing to political pressure. Tua was UN-SYMPTOMATIC the day after he was concussed this year, but MM put him on 4 week IR FOR NO REASON!

MM cost us the playoffs last year. Not anyone else.

  21. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Crow was cited for violation of Florida Statute 784.03 (1a1), which is more formally known as touch or strike battery. He has not been charged by the State Attorney’s Office, which makes charging decisions after the arraignment.

It was alleged in the officer’s probable cause affidavit, obtained by NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, that Crow and the victim got into a verbal altercation that later turned physical in nature. It was alleged Crow shoved the victim out of anger. She claimed she suffered no injuries and denied to issue a sworn statement.

I thought we had a much better offseason overall and I think this was definitely Grier’s best draft. With that said, until the Dolphins prove otherwise, I’m going to have to say that I’m on the right side Mike.

Tannenbaum only knows how to blow money, not save it.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’ll tell ya this much BBM – I think Grier learned a real bad thing from Mikey Tradey Pants. He’s trying to emulate that wonderful Leonte Carroo moment in almost every draft. Also, despite everyone saying we had a great draft, don’t forget he AGAIN had to use two picks, a 2nd and a 3rd RD pick to get Jonah Savaiinaea. I hope that guy is worth it, time will tell, but once again, it was still possible if he stayed put, he could have still gotten him. We’ll never know on that one.

It’s Lucy and the Football or that old guy with the dollar bill on the end of the fishing pole.

I’ll just do what I do every year and enjoy the highlights and expect the lowlights. Even if we finally do get it right, we’ll have to beat the league and their control over the refs affecting the playoffs. I don’t control any of this nonsense, so there’s no use getting upset about it.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I agree much more with the first sentence. I do think there’s a slight chance we get in to the playoffs but am thinking more like 6-8 wins. Need to change the GM, HC and philosophy if we want to get past this same ole cycle.

Patriots are releasing veteran safety Jabrill Peppers, per source. Peppers still has $4.32 million guaranteed remaining on his contract for this season. Peppers has started 85 games, including 26 with New England, and has totaled over 500 tackles, seven interceptions, six forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries in the NFL.

    ————

Might we sign Peppers to start opposite Minkah?

  33. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

    Guilty!

    I like the Three Stooges.

When our head coach has made it to the playoffs two years in a row, and it would have been three had we not lost Tua for six games last season, and we still just missed the playoffs by 1 game. (First time in six years) and to go back-to-back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2000 and 2001 seasons. And he has a winning record of 28-25.

Or when you examine the roster “without preconceived bias,” it is a damn good mix of youth and veteran talent. Here are some of the players currently on the Dolphins roster who have made the Pro Bowl: WR Tyreek Hill 8 times, Minkah Fitzpatrick 5 times, Matthew Judon 4 times, Tua Tagovailoa 1 time, and Alec Ingold 1 time.

We also have quite a few young, talented players such as Jaylen Waddle (26), Jaelan Phillips (26), De’Von Achane (23), Chop Robinson (22), Patrick Paul (23), Kader Kohou (24), Malik Washington (24), Tahj Washington (24), Jaylen Wright (22), Storm Duck (24), to name a few.

And Grier may have produced his best draft class in his tenure this year, as just about the entire class has shown promise.

    • Kenneth Grant (21): Defensive Tackle
    • Jonah Savaiinaea (21): Offensive Line
    • Jordan Phillips (21): Defensive Tackle
    • Jason Marshall Jr. (22): Cornerback
    • Dante Trader Jr. (22): Safety
    • Ollie Gordon II (21): Running Back
    • Quinn Ewers (22): Quarterback
    • Zeek Biggers (21): Defensive Tackle

As well as some recent young talent, we just picked up off waivers:

    • John Saunders Jr. (23): Safety
    • Hayden Rucci (24): Tight End
    • Josh Priebe (23): Offensive Line
    • JuJu Brents (25): Corner Back

There are quite a few other names on the roster that I have not added that are both young and talented.

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – The bad thing about all those guys who made the pro bowl is that all of those guys are at down points in their career. Who cares if Judon was a Pro Bowler from 2019-2022? Minkah had 2 down seasons in a row and made the Pro Bowl by name only. Alec Ingold is coming off a concussion and I feel is very questionable this season. Hill probably shouldn’t even be be back here for his stunt at the end of the season, but we’re the Dolphins and MM is Mr. Softy so he’s still here. We’ll see if he can regain anything like what he did in ’23. Why not point that Rasul Douglas is a former SB Champion? None of it matters now, they have to do it for us. Jordan Poyer was a Pro Bowler in ’22, he looked like hot garbage for us though

  36. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Oh and a little more icing on the Grier Cake:

Here are some of the most notable UDFAs that GM Chris Grier has added to the roster during his tenure in recent years:

    • Kader Kohou (CB): Signed in 2022, he has started 38 games in three seasons and is considered a “gold standard” for Dolphins UDFAs.
    • Nik Needham (CB): Signed in 2019, he became a quality contributor for multiple seasons and is currently on his third contract with the team.
    • Storm Duck (CB): Signed in 2024, he made the initial 53-man roster, bypassed a higher draft pick on the depth chart, and made starts in his rookie season.
    • Robert Jones (G): Made the initial 53-man roster in 2021 and started 17 games in 2024 before leaving as an unrestricted free agent.
    • Julian Hill (TE): Made the initial 53-man roster in 2023 and has seen significant playing time.
    • Chris Brooks (RB): Made the initial 53-man roster in 2023.
    • Brandon Pili (DT): Made the initial 53-man roster in 2023.
    • Ethan Bonner (CB): Initially a practice squad player in 2023, he was called up late in the season, contributed in the playoffs, and made the 53-man roster in 2024 due to his speed and playmaking ability.

It’s become common for at least one, and often two or three, undrafted free agents to make the Dolphins’ initial 53-man roster each year.

  37. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – I can’t help it, you’re now giving him credit for UDFA’s who aren’t even on the team, and besides Needham and Kohou, the other guys really haven’t done anything yet. We have a lot of young players now because we’re so capstrung from his ridiculous contracts he was handing out to Tua, Hill, Ramsey, Chubb etc. He had no choice but to sign some UDFA’s.

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

That was a history of players over the years that he has successfully brought to Miami. I know some are no longer here, but the point is that we benefited from those players’ contributions over the years.

As far as being capstrung, I have no issues with the contracts handed out; it’s been well-earned by our star players.

The reset approach and the fact that we will have complete draft classes over the next few years are the right moves being made by Dolphins management. Not every decision is solely on Chris Grier

Markey- Let’s give Grier credit for filling out the 53 man roster why don’t we? Problem I find with rose colored glasses fans is the same across the board. AIM HIGHER!!! We don’t have to suck or be mediocre every season. Just because Tua is the best QB since Marino, he’s injury prone and hasn’t been able to raise his level of his play or the teams in big spots. We should want better all around! We haven’t won a playoff game in more than 25 years for a reason. Aim higher, always try to get better and build the team fir sustained success like the Ravens, Bills, Chiefs etc. Don’t settle!

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

When our head coach has made it to the playoffs two years in a row, and it would have been three had we not lost Tua for six games last season, and we still just missed the playoffs by 1 game. (First time in six years) and to go back-to-back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2000 and 2001 seasons. And he has a winning record of 28-25.

The 11-6 2023 season was not mediocre and given the issues that prevented Miami from making the playoffs three years in a row gives me the feeling that if we can stay healthy, we have the talent and coaching to not only make the playoffs this year but also win a game or two at worst and maybe knock on the SB door?

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

“If” your Aunt had balls, she’d be your Uncle”. I’ll take a roster that’s built right and has a QB that can not only win playoff games but can take them over. That’s aiming higher!

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

sure these morons MM and Grier have done a lot of stupid shit, but that’s in the past and this year at least includes them to start the season, and I have no control over how long they last, all I can do is root them on, negativity is so tiring

what do you think bills fans do, they bitch just like we do, they’re just at a higher level, they can’t beat KC, and haven’t won an SB, which is worse than not winning a playoff game in 25 yrs

  54. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I feel like absolutely nothing we’ve done makes me feel like we’re headed in the right direction. Signing Waller is NOT heading on the right direction, either is signing Dulcich. Either is the removing door at CB bringing in all these different CB’s. Just because they say the rookie is ready to play NB doesn’t mean shit. There are so many injury question marks on this roster, Tua, Phillips, Chubb. Jackson. Our TE situation is a fucking joke! Our RB situation could be a problem. The O-line and D-line haven’t done anything yet and you guys are all pumped that we signed Matt Judon who’s past his prime. We’ll see if Tua can elevate his game AND stay hralthy, two absolutely mammoth questions because he hasn’t done both of them together.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

you’ve gotta fill your needs, from all angles, everything can’t be for the future, because we all know tomorrow never comes

TE is a joke, but when they add options it doesn’t fit your narrative, so it doesn’t help

  55. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – They went for it all trading tons of valuable draft picks and paying out ridiculous sums of money and the best we could do was lose a WC playoff game. The Rams did the same and won the Superbowl, ditto for the Bucs. Now Grier admits we can’t continue down that path and we’re doing a reset. That’s not heading in the right direction but an admission that you’re entire strategy failed and now you need to scrap it because it’s not sustainable.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

they got lazy and tried a get rich quick scheme, you should get fired for that, but they didn’t, and I can’t do anything about it

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Ok, this boy needs to go to sleep, and you guys need to sober up! Jeez! 😒

  57. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Win a playoff game, and I’ll consider us on the right path. As it is, backdooring in as a 6th or 7th seed for a couple of years is barely being top half of the league, which in my mind is the same mediocrity we’ve been mired in for the past 25 years.

The team is set for the season now, we have potential if everything goes right. But, I expect Tua to miss some big games due to injury- is that an unreasonable expectation? I don’t think so. I also expect some things will go wrong, like maybe having to play significant time with backup oline- again, is this unreasonable?

I have no faith anything will change. I expect we’ll be very mediocre again, at best contend to get bounced in the 1st rd of the playoffs, but with what I see as a smaller margin for error this year, I’m figuring on 8 wins.

I’ll still enjoy the season until the wheels come off, I’ll hope that isn’t the first few weeks, and I’ll root every week for the team to win. But I am definitely a Dolphins fan who will stay in ‘show me’ mode until they show me.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If we’re going to be a good team, we should beat an average Colts team in their house.

One week at a time – go out and get the win.

  58. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

I would be happy to see this team win a BIG game for once. I dont care if it is playoffs or not. When they show they can compete and show up when it matters, when the spotlight is on them. They have crumbled every time when the stakes are high. Especially at the QB position. Change that!

Each and every time they had the opportunity, they went into fetal position. Thats the progress I want to see. Squeaking into the playoffs is not something to brag about.

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Can’t argue your point. We will soon find out how good this team is, starting with the first 4 games of the season, where we face all of our division opponents.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

that’s starts with a culture change, OL and DL now have big tough guys

PP and Jonah can lay the wood, Jonah just needs to get his footwork straight, then lookout

Grant and Phillips knock OL on the ground a lot more, than I’ve seen in the past, then there’s Sieler

Ollie can play smash mouth and pickup rushers

Douglas isn’t the cover guy he used to be, but he can still knock runners on their ass, including Derrick Henry

Marshall is a big boy, that can hit too

  59. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Miami’s defense will carry this team in 2025!

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Top 5 defense, maybe top 3!

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

that would mean the passrush is awesome and probably Minkah returning to All Pro form

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

I think they will have to. Once 1 OL goes down we go into limp mode. Once the QB goes down..we’ll we know the drill on that.

If the D front can stay healthy they should be able to keep them at least close and help out the secondary.

So many things have to go right, mainly lack of injuries. There isn’t any depth to overcome them on offense. Haven’t stayed healthy in a long time….maybe we are due!

  60. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we had a 5 game winning streak last year with a shitty, shitty OL, our O can move the ball

he was arrested last year on charges of domestic violence and cocaine possession. Eventually he was acquitted

but the league placed him on the commissioners exempt list when it happened and he missed a bunch of games (8?)

he had a hamstring issue too last year

he was still playing at a high level when he played

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Bri – anything is possible, but you see what happens when the owner makes football decisions, just look at the Cowboys. You hire a GM, and then you give that man full autonomy. It has to work like that to be effective. Ross doesn’t know shit about football and shouldn’t be involved in any discussions other than whether he’s willing to pay “x” amount of dollars for a player contract. Honestly, I don’t see why Ross would even be in the room when interviewing a HC, if you ask me. Pay the bills and do your real estate business. Stick with what you know.

all 8 picks this year made the 53, don’t expect 10 to make it next year

We have too many picks, we need to move up or get some 2027 picks, then keep it going every year

And if ‘Reek craps the bed early or checks out mid-season, he’ll be dealt for a 1st or 2nd round pick(s).

That would sweeten the deal to bring a new HC and GM into the fold for ’26.

we should trade a day 3 pick for Cam Robinson. The Texans were shopo8ng him and we can use the OL depth

Steve Ross should never be faulted for a lack of effort in trying to win a Super Bowl… I think it’s crystal-clear that he’s a super fan like the rest of us, and we’ve seen him trying to court the best of the best.

Unfortunately, Steve Ross just doesn’t have the right people advising him regarding the intricacies of football management. That, and ‘The Joe Robbie Curse’.

Gotta run for an end of summer reunion with 3 of my close friends I’ve known since high school… but none of them are football fans. Catch y’all on the flip side tomorrow, Mobsters.

    We’re a mere week away!!!

    GO PHINS!!!

    HELL YEAH!!!
