2025 Season – Game 2 – Patriots @ Dolphins

It’s Week 2 in the NFL, so it’s far too early to be a turning point of the season. On the other hand, the Miami Dolphins need a really solid effort this weekend at home against The New England Patriots. The Patriots are 0-1 coming off of a loss at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. A lot of experts felt the New England Patriots had a really good offseason and made a lot of improvements to the roster, in adition to adding a new Head Coach in former Patriots Linebacker Mike Vrabel. There is hope that their QB will take step up in his 2nd season with the Patriots. They drafted one of the best OT’s available in the ’25 Draft in LT Will Campbell. They added in RD 2 an athletic RB in TreVeyon Henderson to the more physical running style of Rhamondre Stevenson. The Patriots, like the Dolphins are 0-1, but the Patriots were in the game the entire game while the Miami Dolphins just got embarrassed all game long.

Unless this game ends in a tie, one of these 2 teams is going to be 0-2. The Patriots have a new Head Coach with a young QB while the Dolphins are in year 4 with HC Mike McDaniel and year 6 with QB Tua Tagovailoa. There is no question as to which team needs the “W” more than the other, but I’d simplify it by saying the Dolphins need to resemble a legitimate NFL team this Sunday, win or lose. They can’t have an effort that in any way looks like what they put out last week against the Indianapolis Colts where they got blown out 33-8 and even the score doesn’t accurately represent the carnage. This organization has been talking about their new culture for months now and some fans ate it up like crack. If what they did last week is the “new” culture, that culture won’t be around much longer, and I’ll be quite thankful for that!

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the injuries never cease here. Yes, every team goes through injuries in the NFL but the Dolphins lost their starting RG after a play or two. RG James Daniels who I had doubts about due to coming off an achilles injury in 2024 is OUT, and not because of his achilles, but a pectoral injury. In addition, right next to him, RT Austin Jackson will also be OUT this Sunday. So 2 plays is all we get from our new and improved O-line. OL Kion Smith will replace RG James Daniels and OT Larry Borom will replace RT Austin Jackson. Obviously, that’s not ideal, and Mike Vrabel is from the Belichick Coaching Tree and that means defense is a priority, and physical play is what they’re all about. Our guys will no doubt be tested. After all, this Dolphins team told us they’re not soft despite fromer players insinuating just that. I’d like to see this team be the more physical team on Sunday and smack the Patriots down.

The team held a players own meeting after the poor showing Week 1. What exactly that means is unclear, but it’s Week 2 and you’re excluding the HC from a meeting? Not necessarily a good look from any perspective. What have y’all been doing up until this point? QB Tua Tagovailoa has been ornery answering questions and seems angry with some of the reporters questions. Answer those questions on the field young man, stop whining, bitching about what reporters said after you shit the bed on opening day! You don’t appreciate the negativity, play as well as your undying supporters think you’re capable of, like some Top 5 God of a QB! It will undoubtedly make the post game interviews much more palatable.

You want some good news? The Dolphins have owned the Patriots defeating them twice last season, 15-10 in Week 5 and then an ass whooping Week 12 34-15. In 2023 it was the same, we defeated the Patriots 24-17 in Week 2, and then 31-17 in Week 8. Despite all the offseason hype for New England, history is in our favor, and add in we’ll be wearing all white which means the Patriots will be wearing their dark navy jerseys in the Florida heat. Hopefully it’s a scorcher. It’s supposed to be 88 degrees and very humid but there’s a threat of rain in the afternoon (No way, not in Miami!). I don’t need the Dolphins to wipe the field with the Patriots and honestly I don’t need them to win, but they have to look significantly better than they did last week and look like a professional team that has real ideas about being contenders for a playoff spot.

Besides the 2 injuries on the O-line, there’s more injury news as well, some good, some bad. RB Jaylen Wright is trending in the right direction to be active. NT Benito Jones however is the opposite, and he may be OUT and replaced by rookie DT Zeek Biggers. I swear from this point on I’m not discussing the TE that shall not be discussed until he actually suits up and plays. I’ve wasted not nearly as much time and resources and draft picks as the Miami Dolphins have, but his time is done with me until he plays. WR Jaylen Waddle is QUESTIONABLE. CB Storm Duck has not practiced so it’s looking as if he’ll be OUT. As I mentioned earlier, RT Austin Jackson is in the same boat as Storm Duck and Benito Jones. Every NFL team gets hit with injuries but our team just gets obliterated by them.

Last week we ran the ball 9 times with our RB’s 7 rushes for Achane and only 2 for the rookie ollie Gordon who’s supposed to bring the physicality to the offense. I’d love to see Ollie Gordon get a bunch of carries although it’s difficult to steal carries from RB De’Von Achane, and if RB Jaylen Wright is active, gosh, how do you split up the 3-4 carries between them? I know that Achane’s herculean effort on that 4th down swing pass last week is the only reason we cored an actual TD last week. Mike McDaniel calls a swing pass on 4th and 11, and Achane avoids and eludes at least 3-4 would be tacklers immediately and scores. That’s a shit call, sorry! It’s amazing that he scored but it’s embarrassing that it’s what he called. I hope today we have a more run heavy game plan, take a little pressure off of #1 who is unraveling already due to the scrutiny of being a franchise QB that doesn’t play like one.

Lets see the defense, the front 7 that is allegedly the stregth of this team show up! We brought in veteran LB/DE Matt Judon in to join Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson. The Colts had possession of the football for over 38 minutes. Not good! Of course Tua gifting the Colts defense 3 times didn’t help the situation, but our defense needs to make an impact too! Bradley Chubb got one sack and that was it for this defense. No forced fumbles or INT’s or anything really. We were jacked on both sides of the ball, and Danny Jones looked fantastic, a 115.1 rating, need I say more? Our Top 5 QB needs to rehabilitate his usual high rating which now stands at 51.7. Oh, forgot to mention Jaylen Waddle is injured with a shoulder injury. Did that happen watching the Colts go up and down the field all day on us? Rubbernecking injury perhaps? Jaylen Waddle did catch 4 passes for 30 yards, maybe 30 realy tough on the shoulder yards. Hopefully he’s better this week. I’m loving the new culture by the ways, but these boo boos we keep getting are just so nasty and unfortunate!

Steve – not sure if that’s the case overall but i do believe Maye is at worst not too far behind Tua and that’s supposed to be one of the pluses on our side and I’m not sure if it is at all.

    Our season is now… OVER

  39. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

  40. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

2 burnt TOs wouldn’t even matter

Tua just NEVER steps up and makes the big play for this team. 🤬

    Tua time!

  48. ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

So we’re 0-3. That’s a hole even a good team struggles to get out of. For the Fins it has to be the final nail in the coffin. How much fecking evidence does Ross need?

  49. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

lol, and now we’re at the 40. This is all set up for us to win at the end. Luckily, we’re a well oiled machine. This should be cake.

  50. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Damn! Biggers jumped too soon, could’ve blocked it

  51. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    ACHANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Sorry, not giving Tua credit for that TD, no more than he deserves credit for Achane’s TD last week on the 4th and 11 swing pass

  54. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

would’ve been too much time left

  55. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

MM is the worst clock manager I’ve ever seen in my entire life

  56. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And now we waste our TO. THE FACT THIS PROCEDURAL SHIT IS STILL HAPPENING IN KEY MOMENTS IS FUCKING UNFORGIVABLE.

  57. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

lack of urgency is killin me

  58. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Thats the difference between having “the guy” at QB and not.

No way the franchise tip toes out of bounds in that situation.

  59. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Now that’s the Tua we’ve come to expect and the O-line too!

  60. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

    0-4 here we come

  61. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I may just check myself out until they fire this inept HC.

  62. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

But Darren Waller might play next week!!!!

  63. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Very entertaining game to the last. But alas… we LOSE.

  64. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

MM must go now at least stop calling plays

uh um Mr Ross, we had a player only meeting and we can’t take it any longer, MM needs to stop calling plays immediately, since your candy ass won’t fire him

  65. ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

Fire the fecking lot. They say – we do feck all

  66. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Why do the dolphins have delay of game penalties?

    MM calling plays: uh…ummm…uh…yeah well…uh

  67. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we needed to lose, no need to drag it out, house cleaning time

  68. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Achane is the best player on this team. Trade away everyone else you possibly can and blow it all up.

I don’t know how nothing was done after the last season and a half of this shit.

  69. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

Tua isn’t the reason we lost today. If Tua has to pitch a PERFECT GAME in order for us to win, it’s not on him.

This loss is on the current regime, TOP to BOTTOM. And I’m beginning to think Anthony Weaver as HC isn’t the answer, either.

I’m not defending Tua, either. But at the end of the day, he had a pretty good game and kept us in it to the end.

Once again, we LOST the time of possession badly. Our Defense just can’t get off the field.

  70. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

thanks Mike you did us a solid by having no fest game this year

  71. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

The game isn’t all on Tua. He only makes 50M a year, what more can you ask of him?

This entire organization needs new everybody. Top to bottom.

  72. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    Ross Speaking yet?

Fuck Weaver, someone else needs to be interim HC

  73. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – I didn’t ask Tua to pitch a perfect game, I asked him not to give up the game winning HR in the bottom of the 9th to the #9 hitter batting .185. It’s not ALL Tua’s fault, it’s a team game, but how many times does he have to demonstrate that he WILL NOT WIN YOU THE GAME? It’s crystal clear as a chandelier that Tua is not a WINNER! We’re paying him like he’s a difference maker and he just isn’t capable. Look at Drake Maye, Bo Nix. Just draft another QB and leave Tua, his injuries, and his complete inability to be clutch for this team in the rearview mirror!

You know I think Grier and MM have to go, but I abhor people defending Tua, it’s make me so angry. I also despise Dolphins defending Grier, because he’s a huge part of the problem, along with the Head Coach Mike McDaniel. The “Trio of losers” you can call Grier, McDaniel and Tua. We will never reach the ultimate goal of competing for a SB with any combination of those three losers still employed by this team. End of story!

  81. New Age's avatar New Age says:

It was a good game because two really bad teams played each other. A bad Raiders team with very little talent took down the Pats last week. We needed to see this game because we need everyone to FINALLY realize that the main dudes here aren’t very good. Tua and McDonalds were only good in a year they abused in motion shenanigans. Their only good year for either dude.

It’s time people to woke up and ask themselves. Is winning a playoff game even beyond your expectations as a fan and why? Because we won’t even get to that easy standard with these 3 dudes running the team. Tua is a one read QB. Howard wasn’t calling him out, he was just explaining the truth of the player. You just can’t win with a QB who is scared to go past his first read and is unable to run the ball. Tua’s a top 30 QB, and that’s it. We can do better. Grier sucks. We’ve seen that with 3 different coaching staffs. He just can’t do the easy things like draft really good CBs, OL, and QBs when needed. You need them to win so we need him to leave.

McDaniel is the worse Head Coach in football. I’ve been saying it since last year. He’ utterly unable to adjust to defenses and is a one trick pony. Ross is a moron for letting him have a Year 4. Or for letting Grier run this team. Or for putting his giant nose into operations when he’s a dumbfuck. We will be 0-4 and I really hope Ross has the slightest level of competence and ends this once we hit that mark. McDaniel will never be anything more than a positional coach for any winning team in the NFL. Hell, he may never play-call again. Rightfully.

  82. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

The main problems here are Grier and MM. As for Tua, he’s not the biggest problem, but he’s not the solution for this franchise either. Time to find a future franchise QB to hopefully lead this team in 2027 and beyond…

  83. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I honestly don’t know what it will take for Ross to fully clean house but I have an idea we’re gonna see a lot of bad shit before we do. What scares me the most is Ross just firing Mike McDaniel and leaving Chris Grier in charge of this mess. I swear if that does happen I might just completely disassociate myself with this team. Nothing would give me such a huge sense of hopelessness than that occurring. I just hope Ross has the cojones to do what is necessary, finally.

Stevie blunder will keep MM all year, unless he’s forced to make a move, losing 70-0 Thursday won’t do it, it’ll need to be a locker room issue or 30 or someone close to Ross saying, WTF are you doing

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

If we go 0-4, then the likelihood of us going 2-8, 3-7 at best is going to be the end of him. I don’t think it’s going be long before he gets fired. I just can’t see us playing well enough to prevent that from happening.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Ross hates being embarrassed. Thursday will be very embarrassing, but he may feel like 3 games is too soon. We can’t stop anyone so the Jets will also embarrass us. That should be enough.

  92. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

No matter what happens to Mike McDaniel this season Frank Smith almost certainly has to stay on staff. McDaniel‘s offense is pretty complicated and you couldn’t get rid of everyone on offense as well as McDaniel.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Of course Frank Smith has to stay – He’s the lynchpin, the one tie to the great Darren Waller! LOL

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

But is a complicated, time-based offense the best option for us? I’ve never been a fan of McDaniel’s offense since they took away his pre-snap motions. That’s the only time it’s been good. So, see ya Frank, let’s find someone who can easily teach all the new guys we’ll have how to win. If old school Dan Campbell and Harbaugh win lots of ball games, let’s find a guy who realizes the importance of the running game
