Here’s the story of the Miami Dolphins

Today, it really was just a “Series of Unfortunate Events” Somehow or another, this team manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It never comes down to just one play, but one play that strongly affected what the Dolphins were trying to accomplish at the end of the game, which was to leave Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers very little time, maybe 10 seconds or probably even less before we scored the TD that gave us a short lived lead of 27-26 with just 46 seconds remaining. The play I’m speaking of was a pass play to WR Malik Washington at 00:59 in the game. A screen pass and Malik Washington took it towards the sidelines attempting to turn the corner but he was tackled, basically picked up and thrown out of bounds by Chargers nickel back Tarheeb Still. That play stopped the clock at 00:52. The next play, QB Tua Tagovailoa finds TE Darren Waller in the endzone for a TD with 00:46 seconds remaining. The extra point was good so we had the lead at 27-26.

Instead of kicking it out of the endzone, K Riley Patterson gives the Chargers a returnable kick at the 1 yard line and return it they do, as Chargers KR Nyheim Hines, just brought up from the PS today, returns the ball to the LA 41 yard line. The return takes 7 seconds off the clock, and Herbert under duress throws incomplete on 1st down leaving 00:34 seconds remaining. The next play would be “The Lucy” play, because the Dolphins pass rush gets to Herbert, but he shrugs it off, steps away and completes a pass to WR Ladd McConkey who avoids a tackler and takes the ball to the Miami Dolphins 17 yard line, knocked out of bounds by CB Jack Jones. The Chargers then run 2 plays to wind down the clock and force the Dolphins to use their timeouts, we had 2 remaining. With 00:09 seconds remaining, from the right hash, Chargers K Cam Dicker (Dicker the Kicker) nails the game winning FG leaving 00:05 on the clock for the Dolphins. Dicker the Kicker does his job and kicks the fuck outta the ball allowing no return for the Dolphins. Dolphins take over with 00:05 seconds at their own 35 yard line due to kick out of the end zone.

Could the Dolphins pull off another Miracle in Miami? Chargers defense is in the prevent, a few guys are deep, they rush 3 guys and few guys are mid deep. Tua takes the snap and fires 5-YARDS-DOWNFIELD to WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, maybe that was supposed to be the big surprise because it was his first target of the day, but the pass is quickly snuffed out by Pro Bowl and All-Pro S Derwin James to end the game. Like I said previously, one play never defines the entire game, that didn’t lose the game because it would have literally taken a another Miracle in Miami to win this one, but regardless of that fact, how do you throw the ball 5 yards when you need 65, and still get intercepted?

This will be the one game where Tua’s stat line will look worse than he actually played. His first INT, the very first pass play of the game was pass that WR Jaylen Waddle bobbled and at first glance, looked he lateraled the ball to Chargers SS Tony Jefferson. Waddle totally was at fault, it wasn’t Tua’s fault this time. Waddle bobbled it right into the defenders hands for an INT. Not a good start. The defernse wasn’t nearly as bad as previous weeks, we had a 13-9 lead at the half, so in my mind, holding the Chargers to 3 FG’s was a good showing for the woeful D.

In the 3rd quarter, the LA Chargers adjusted to the issues they were having on the right side of their O-line, and Herbert starting getting in a rhythm and RB Kimani Vidal started picking up huge chunks of yardage. The Chargers took 23-13 lead, scoring 14 unanswered points in the 3rd Quarter. RB Kimani Vidal finished with 18 carries for 124 yards, but Dolphins RB De’Von Achane was better, he finished with 128 yards on 16 carries and 2 TD’s. What would this team be without De’Von Achane? There are times when he IS the offense. Whether he’s running the ball or catching it, he does everything. Teams know this and that’s how Tua’s 2nd INT came about. Achane was set out wide in the slot, and Tua stared him down the entire time with 06:02 in the 3rd Quarter remaining. He’s great, but you have to use other players or defenses tend to concentrate on him, facilitating Tua’s 2nd INT. Tua’s final line was 21-35 205 yards, 1 TD and 3 INT’s. Definitely uglier than he played and this time he actually should have clinched the win for us on his second to last drive, but like I said earlier, a series of unfortunate events.

So now the team is 1-5, and in Tua’s presser after the game, he stated that players are not showing up for meeting, player only meetings, and others are coming late. There’s a leadership problem here, and that starts with the Head Coach. Mike McDaniel doesn’t seem to have the pulse, or respect of this team. In his presser, he said the team didn’t quit, he’d know by the 3rd quarter if that were the case, whatever the heck that means! GM Chris Grier missed on his first 2 picks in the draft. At #13 we took Michigan DT Kenny Grant. He’s been rated at the bottom of the barrel, and same goes for our next pick OG Jonah Savaiinaea, who we traded a 3rd RD pick in addition to our 2nd RD pick to move up in RD 2 to #37 to get him. By now, we know when Grier trades up for someone, that guy just ain’t gonna be worth it because he’s whiffed on every single trade up since he’s been here!

So 1-5, our rookies are struggling, one on offense and 1 on defense, you can’t blame the same position coaches for both of them, and our other rookies aren’t doing anything either really, which includes 5th RD picks DT Jordan Phillips and S Dante Trader, 6th RD pick RB Ollie Gordon who gets 2 carries a game, and 7th RD picks QB Quinn Ewers, who has been the emergency QB and in my estimation, we HAVE AN EMERGENCY!!!!! Time to get that kid meaningful practice reps with the ones and in a few weeks, let’s see what he can do! We also drafted DT Zeek Biggers in RD 7, and he’s been in the rotation on the D-line, not because he’s great, but because Grier left the cupboard bare and we basically have no choice but to start most of our rookies. He also had no choice to sign veteran CB’s Jack Jones and Rasul Douglas and just like signing DE/DT Calias Campbell last season, Grier gets no credit for that with me, just picking up leftovers. Before we give him credit for TE Darren Waller, let’s see how much he actually plays as he always seems to be QUESTIONABLE on the injury report and missed the first 3 games with a hip injury that I guess is still nagging.

If you look at this team’s future, even if you look as far as just this season, what’s left of it, it’s not pretty. We’re 1-5, and that almost guarantees we will not be in the playoffs, barring some sort of ridiculous turnaround here. This team is foundering, the finger pointing has begun, and the lack of real leaders on this team are showing what happens when that’s the case. Clearly, Mike McDaniels leaves a lot of responsibility on the players to police themselves and do what they need to do. He’s no disciplinarian, and he can’t become one either. If any of you were thinking DC Anthony Weaver is in line for HC, just know his defense is awful. You can take into account that the roster is weak, he needs to lean on a bunch of rookies on the D-line, and they have been pushed off the LOS as if they’re wearing roller skates at times, but what about the veterans like Zach Sieler, Jalean Phillips, Bradley Chubb etc etc. What the heck happened to Chop Robinson? That’s on Weaver!

This team was set up for the offense to carry it. QB tua Tagovailoa, RB De’Von Achane, WR’s Tyreek Hill (before he got injured) and Jaylen Waddle were supposed to make this team a contender, while the defense if Chubb, Phillips , Judon and Chop could bring some heat on opposing offense, along with solid tackling from the quality inside backers Jordyn Brooks, Tyrell Dodson, KJ Britt and Willie Gay cleaned up the tackling. Trading CB Jaeln Ramsey and TE Jonnu Smith for S Minkah Fitzpatrick has ended up a wash. Jonnu isn’t tearing it up for the Steelers and Jalen Ramsey is playing OK. Minkah is 3rd on the team in total tackles, and many of those are way downfield, chasing RB’s down after they got past the front 7, which happens all too often. Before this game (LOSS), the offense was ranked 21st. That’s just not good enough, not for a team that needed the offense to carry it. The defense is woeful, and I don’t expect it to get any better any time soon.

Heads should roll, and who replaces them in the interim isn’t my concern. This team is DOA after 6 games, so I don’t care if it’s Darrell Bevell (QB’s and Passing Game Coordinator), or FRank Smith (Offensive Coordinator) (Although McDaniel calls/called the plays), it doesn’t matter. I don’t care if it’s Anthony Weaver, although I don’t feel it’s deserved. Maybe he’s the best guy as far as getting the players attention, because that surely needs to happen. Whomever it is, they are a band aid on a shotgun wound that has bled out. The most important thing to me is that Stephen Ross, or whoever is making these decisions don’t try any half measures. They simply cannot fire Head Coach Mike McDaniel and call it a day. This two-headed snake stinks of rot and they both need to be cut off! Grier AND McDaniel MUST GO. Either both, or just the leave the rot until the end of the season.

so if we split with the Jets and each go one and 16 who gets the first pick?

    ————-

It’s decided by strength of schedule

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Right now, we’re tied with SOS with the Jets at .490. That will change as the season goes on, and obviously, they have 0 wins and are a game ahead of us.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We’re #4, behind Cleveland and Baltimore. Let’s make sure we jump ahead of them by losing next week!

  3. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

We are still picking #4 after today’s games and that won’t change with the remaining games. Of the five 1-5 teams, the Browns and Ravens have had easier schedules than the Dolphins so they pick before us. The Saints and Titans have had harder schedules so they pick after us.

  4. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Thanks MikeE, beat me to it. lol

  5. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Of the current top 10 teams in the draft order, the Jets, Dolphins and Saints definitely need a QB. I guess you can throw the Browns in there.

Is there one that teams will be fighting and trading up over? I’d say no, not right now.

  6. pieguyevan's avatar pieguyevan says:

Since we’re stuck with Tua for at least another year, maybe the better play would be to trade down and load up 1st rd pics for 2027 when there may be some better qb options

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

They say that about QB classes in a lot of drafts and then all of a sudden, a few guys show up and become great prospects

  7. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It’s easy to say after the fact, but it’s the truth, I called the end of this game with about 5 and a half minutes left. I said we’d score a TD, screw up and leave enough time for the them to kick the game winner as time runs out.

Then MM calls an east/ west play when we just needed a simple run up the gut, Malik gets knocked out of bounds, and they save that last TO.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And I’m thankful it ended up this way. I genuinely don’t want to win another game. I want MM and Grier to finish out the season (so our interim doesn’t get the interim bump and win a couple), both get fired 5 seconds after the end of game 17, and go into the offseason with the top pick in the draft with the hope we can begin to build something worthy.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I believe you. I’m not worried about winning too many games with an interim coach as long as both Grier and McDaniel are gone. That’s my primary concern that both are gone. I legit will not be a fan of this team if either or both are here next year

  8. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Tuas presser is all you need to know there is no leadership in this organization. I’m glad that he is at least becoming visibly upset at it

As for the game….at least they showed some grit after their usual 2nd half let down.

I am fine with losing if it cleans house.

  9. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m not sure why some are already dismissing this ’26 QB class as weak. There’s still plenty of time for risers (and fallers!), and we don’t know what style of QB the next regime would like to hitch their wagons to.

Maybe we’ll want a traditional pro-style pocket-passing QB, maybe a run-first QB (I hope not!), maybe a spread QB who can both pass and run, maybe a gunner of a QB, or maybe the strongest arm in the Draft QB.

All of that stated… if the new regime doesn’t like any of the ’26 QB prospects, I’m with Evan: perhaps trade down enough to garner an additional ’27 1st rounder to be used on a QB.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

There’s only 1 potential problem with that. IF there’s a guy who is the future of a franchise (EDGE, WR, CB, OT), you don’t want to pass that player by in a trade down.

  10. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m sorry, y’all… but I’m already past Grier and McDaniel… they are already fired in my mind, it’s only a matter of when it’s made official.

  11. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

If week after week watching a plethora of other QBs doesn’t show you how limited Tua is, I dont know what to tell you. Yeah yeah, I know he isn’t the main thing holding this team back, but it is a major piece that needs fixed. The entire league knows the limitations.

Hopefully the new GM and coach will find one.

Another 2nd half womp womp….Chargers make adjustments and our coaches dont.

  12. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Pieguy, we are not 100% stuck with Tua next year. He could be traded before the deadline this year and clear a bunch of cap that could be carried over to 2026 to offset his big dead cap hit. We would still be starting off at a -19m in 2026 cap though. Also, a team in playoff contention would need to lose their starting QB for this to happen.

The other possibility is trade Tua post 6/1 next year. It would clear 43m in cap in 2026. Though, that would come a little late to sign any good free agents. It would be a rebuilding year anyway.

Either scenario is not likely to happen though.

    • pieguyevan's avatar pieguyevan says:

I’m just under the assumption that NOBODY is going to trade for him with that salary 😂😂 Hope I’m wrong, that would be a “best case scenario” which I’m not used to with this franchise 😂

  13. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Tua wants to win, IMO. If you play a game or sport, you want to win. Who doesn’t, but if we don’t win, he doesn’t seem to care by his comments. He doesn’t care what the fans think or feel either.

Tua is playing for a paycheck and that is it at this point. He got what he wanted which was security for him and his family.

I am so done with him and everyone should be also.

  14. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Pieguy says, “maybe the better play would be to trade down and load up 1st rd pics for 2027 when there may be some better qb options”

    ———-

You are 100% correct. Many of these QB’s we are talking about for this next draft have eligibility to stay another year to try and get a higher draft spot in 2027.

If I was a college QB and had another year of eligibility but currently had a 3rd round grade for the upcoming draft, I am staying another year. Especially since the NIL money I get for staying is going to be more than I get as a rookie 3rd round pick.

  15. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

To be clear (<– I fuckin’ hate that political expression!), I’ve always defended Tua’s play. It’s not his fault he ended up with so many concussions behind an O-Line that wasn’t properly addressed by GM Grief. It’s not Tua’s fault that there’s been total clownery from Coach ‘Capri’ McD on down. It’s not Tua’s fault that the media has been overly critical of him since day 1 as a pro.

Tua has set MILESTONES for not only our beloved team, but also in the NFL.

He’s led the NFL in passing yardage, passer rating, and completion %… all in different seasons!!! THAT is something only a handful of GREATS have ever done in the history of the game.

Sadly enough, I unfortunately believe the ride is over for Tua.

And as I’ve stated to Mike E CONSTANTLY since last year at this time… 1 MORE CONCUSSION, AND TUA IS FINISHED.

We can’t win games with a damaged QB who is ordered to play NOT to get hurt. I’ve been sayin’ it since last season: Tua is one more hit away from becoming scrambled eggs (JT, talking about then QB Trent Green for us).

    • pieguyevan's avatar pieguyevan says:

Man, I’m with you 100% on that. I loved Tua and MM both, and supported them all until this year. It’s not even the losing that soured me on them. It’s the complete lack of accountability. 2 years ago they knew how much the Fins meant to the fans. They promised us winning, and even began to deliver. But then this year man, they’re making the fans out to be bad guys, and it’s pretty disrespectful the way the speak in post game interviews. They don’t care anymore and just want to shift blame. They are the “leaders” of our team and forgot the meaning of “accountability” and that’s why they lost my respect.

  16. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

All you need to know about Tua’s leadership is conveyed through MM: any coach who year after a year has to talk about how his quarterbacks leadership has grown shows that quarterback is not truly a leader.

  17. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Seriously think about it… would Grief and McD have ruined the careers of both Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts?

I don’t even need to blink when I say HELL YEAH.

  18. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

QB’s with more eligibility: LaNorris Sellers, Dante Moore, Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, John Mateer, Arch Manning, Sam Leavitt, Nico Iamaleava, Jaden Maiava, Jackson Arnold, Conner Weigman, Kevin Jennings, Aidan Chiles, Avery Johnson

College senior QB’s: Garrett Nussmeier, Cade Klubnik, Carson Beck, Drew Allar, Taylen Green, Luke Altmyer, Sawyer Robertson, Haynes King, Miller Moss, Diego Pavia, Jalon Daniels

  19. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Pieguy, you are right. A team probably won’t want Tua’s contract especially with his injury history. His cap hit for the team trading for him would be 39m in 2026 and 37m in 2027. The rest is on the Dolphins in dead money.

  20. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I really don’t know why there isn’t more draft hype around Baylor senior QB Sawyer Robertson. He’s 6’4, 220 with a solid arm.

  21. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Michael Trigg is 6’4, 240. He’s a decent blocker, just inconsistent. He goes for the big hit when blocking but fails to sustain his blocks. He is compared to Brenton Strange, Isaiah Likely and Terrance Ferguson. Not bad comparisons.

  22. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

“I want to know what part of this he’s going to take accountability for..Tua threw three picks today…Tua is third in the NFL with the most interceptions thrown by a quarterback.. If you haven’t said this privately first..then in the media..I don’t respect it. And since we are on the topic of respect..I guarantee a lot of the players don’t respect Tua. Tua points the finger and literally has four pointing back at him..If you want to win..put Ewers in,” Bryant posted.

“Being a pro means you have a standard that you hold yourself accountable to… to blame [someone else] for your lack of professionalism is a cop-out,” Warner said.

Not accountable for his own actions….well that’s a recurring theme throughout the organization…..

    ….which starts at the top.

    All 3 units contributed to yesterday’s loss…another recurring theme…lol

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Go on X it’s the same shit regurgitated over and over again with this team. Tua fans seem to confuse issues. Tua didn’t lose the game this week, but it doesn’t matter. Tua lovers can defend him forever but that doesn’t make him a winning QB. Grier built a shitty team, I said this ad nauseam. The O-line sucks, our defense is one of the worst in the NFL. We had the ball for 3:06 in the 3rd quarter when we had a halftime lead of 13-9. We know the defense sucks, where’s the offense? This is the unit that needs to carry this team, disappeared entirely in the 3rd Quarter, -11 yards on offense. -11???? Yeah, Tua and this offense are great!

All the Tua lovers care about is whether or not it was Tua’s fault. I’ve identified the problem, they care so much more about Tua then the team, and the results of the team. They’d rather carry the Tua flag proudly than realize the team is toast and a big part of why the team is toast is because the QB is one dimensional and isn’t good enough at that one dimension to carry this team because it sucks!

Anyway, I’m just tired of seeing it. I just hope we make the necessary moves.

    FIRE GRIER!!! FIRE McDANIEL!!! PLEASE!!!

  27. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

ESPN’s QB rating is a much more in depth metric on all the things a QB does, not just passing alone. This is for the season, not just yesterday’s game.

    Tua Tagovailoa – 50.1

    Justin Herbert – 81.6

    Key metrics within Total QBR

    • Expected Points Added (EPA): This is the core of the metric, measuring the change in a team’s expected points after each play.
      • Context: The value of each play depends on the situation, such as down, distance, and field position, which are used to calculate the EPA for each down.
      • Credit allocation: The EPA is then divided among the players involved, with deeper throws giving more credit to the quarterback and screen passes giving more credit to the receiver.
    • Game Context: Total QBR is designed to provide a more complete picture by factoring in game situations.
      • Clutch Index: A clutch index is calculated for plays based on the situation to determine the potential impact on win probability. This index is used to weight the EPA of a play.
      • “Trash Time” Discount: Plays that occur in “trash time” (when the game’s outcome is no longer in doubt) are discounted by as much as 30% to avoid inflating a player’s rating.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Concussions or not, Tua is limited as a QB. He was never going to win in the playoffs and take this team to the promise land. Time to move on after next year…

I’m actually tired of constantly talking about Tua, Grier, and MM. I’m focusing on the future and watching college football for the draft. The only part of the season I like anymore. At least there is hope in the draft, come August it’s the same old shit with this team every year. …Thanks to a clueless owner!!!

  39. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

As for Tua’s comments after the game; the guy has no idea how to lead and he’s just kind of an idiot in these pressers. He’s always known just the slightly wrong thing to say to the press. He should watch Bull Durham.

Yeah, I think he’s a bit of a dimwit too. Early on I figured it was just naivety and he would grow into the QB position, but he’s still saying the same dumbass stuff, and worse even.

Good questions. Who the heck knows? MM said yesterday that the team is meeting his expectations (in what he’s asking them to do in practice, etc) and he he also says it’s a player led team, so wtf? maybe the team doesn’t even really know what this shyte means, lol.

A few of us talked about how Tua’s arm looked weaker this year. Whether it’s actually weaker for some reason or just something else, is hard to say.

I’d say definitely weaker, can’t seem to get it 50 yards downfield, and every pass seems a little late

  59. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Stephen A says MM is the problem, not Tua

Have to disagree, while MM is a fuckup, Tua is the guy limiting the O

he’s not threat to run, they know his scrambles are just to make room to throw, so the DBs can sit back and no spy is needed

we can’t run the zone read effectively, because Tua is no threat running

his weak arm is causing a loaded box

DBs know that he’s going to unload it quickly75%+ of the time, so they can cheat the quick passes

he’s afraid to stand in the pocket and take a hit, so passes must be thrown early to a spot, which causes ints at times, when the timing is off

I could go on, but I’m sure everyone here knows he isn’t the answer, what most can’t come to grips with is he is the problem

I get not trusting Grier, but I’m talking about Guys, we need to trade now. Chubb is going to be a post June 1 release and Phillips won’t make it with another contract with us. I don’t think. ER, what I can’t figure out is you have a rookie starting at LG who is really struggling in pass pro. You have a vet RG who struggles also in pass pro also. Probably 90% of the time though, they slide Brewer to help the RG and leave the rookie on an island.

I don’t get that and Ryder has mentioned it in every post game video breaking down the offense. Six games in and they are still hanging a severely struggling rookie out to dry.

One in each conference.

Look at what the Chargers did yesterday coming out after halftime. They identified the biggest problem on the line and adjusted help to it over there at tackle. Boom, they go up 2 scores…

What do we do? Absolutely nothing. I get it, pick your poison, but I’d be helping the rookie out first. Then to watch week after week him getting wrecked and not do anything? Leaves me scratching my head.

  66. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Brian, Chubb doesn’t have to be a post 6/1 release. If we release him pre 6/1, we just clear less cap at 7.3m vs clearing 20.2m post 6/1. Numbers would be the same with a pre 6/1 trade.

I am good if they move him earlier, like this year. It would help rebuild this team faster in the fashion the Pats have done it.

Pats drafted Drake Maye in 2024 and unloaded some high contracts that hampered them in 2024 but enabled them to have well over 100m in cap to spend for their new HC in 2025.

Dolphins should almost do the same. Almost, because Pats got their QB then went and got their HC the next.

Dolphins should unload (trade) players like Chubb now so we recoup all his cap hit in 2027 at 31m.

Hire a new HC and draft a QB in 2026. Get their system in place. Then in 2027, you have probably over 120m in cap space. Hell, if Tua is still around, they could pre 6/1 release Tua and clear a bunch more cap. That would leave us around 140m in available cap to spend in 2027 (minus resigning Achane).

This would help make the Dolphins competitive much sooner in year 2 of the new HC. Just as the Pats are in year 2 for Drake Maye though year 1 for Vrabel.

It just needs to be done right and we know Grier isn’t that guy to do it.

  67. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I feel obligated to say it a third time… the Chargers were down to their 3rd-string LT, 3rd-string RT, and 3rd and 4th-string RBs yesterday… and our Defense managed 1 sack (Grant)… and gave up 124 rushing yards (6.9 YPC) to Kamani Vidal on 18 carries.

Even if we had won the game, that is absolutely embarrassing for our Defense, especially our D-Line. Jordyn Brooks (as usual) and KJ Britt played their asses off for us yesterday, but our D-Line couldn’t stop a nose bleed once again.

I can’t believe this, but it’s true: our late-coming signees in the Secondary are WAY outperforming what we all thought was the strength of our Defense… the D-Line.

  68. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Here’s what I honestly see going forward…

Our Defense is going to tighten up (barring major injuries) as they continue to gel together under DC Anthony Weaver. Remember, 7 or 8 of our 11 starters are brand new to the Weaver Defense (I count Chubb as 1, being he didn’t play last season).

That’s going to put the onus on our Offense to make something happen. Once James Daniels and Austin Jackson get back, that’s going to breakup some of the gelling (or lack thereof) our O-Line has accumulated.

Big Jonah has no choice but to take his lumps, so he’s going to continue to be the weakest link.

Tua’s going to get injured again at some point (probably sooner than later), and our already pathetic Offense is going to die with a whimper.

‘Capri McD’ is going to get fired before the season ends, and soon after Grief will be either ‘promoted’ out of his position or fired as well.

As anyone who has pulled on a chain knows, it’s only as strong as it’s weakest link. We have some talent scattered around (not enough imho) and an abundance of weakest links which will be exploited week after week. Pair that with crippling debt and it’s a hole we are never climbing out of.

We need the heavy earth removers in and level the ground before we start building something new. By then, any talent we have will be too old, maybe with the exception of Big Pat Paul and Devon. Indeed, and on what would have been his 32nd B-day today. Prayers to his wife Erika and their two little kids. For whatever HIS reason, HE called Charlie home… and we must never forget what Charlie did while he was here in his short 31 years on Earth.

      Yes, Bookman, very sad!

He was a really good guy and those are rare especially in the media/podcast arena. It’s shameful that people hated him without even knowing his stances. A world full of information and people too lazy to read said information.

QB can sure mitigate alot of this lack of talent debate. We do not have that QB.

Grief is horrible. Been a loser for over 20 yrs with this organization and has blown every chance to build a team that has consistency year over year.

I think too many fans are overestimating the overall talent on Miami. With all the early picks in the last 6+ years, Grier has definitely done a really crappy job!!!

The most important thing a player can bring to a team is availability. I don’t care how good you can play, if you’re not on the field….

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Yep, and that’s with any job. The more the NFL catered to players, the less they have played. No way to change that now but it’s a lesson to be learned in all fields. If I was a NFL GM, I’d never offer more than a 2 year contract and eventually, other teams would follow that superior standard. Players NEVER live up to their bigger contracts.

41 carries, 330 yards. Those are the combined numbers of 2 backup RBs the last two weeks vs Miami’s defense.

At this point, I would listen to offers for any player on this team. With all these bad teams in the league, we need as much ammo as possible in case we need to move up for a QB.
