Thursday Night Football!! The 2-5 Baltimore Ravens vs The 2-6 Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are hot, they are rolling after an extensive 1 game win streak. OK, they actually played a good game, and QB Tua Tagovailoa had a great game. The Ravens defense is terrible, worse than our own terrible defense. The Ravens are allowing 30 points per game good for 30th in the NFL. The Ravens can score though, even without QB Lamar Jackson, but tonight, the Ravens will have the services of Jackson as he returns from injury. Derrick Henry, even at age 31 going on 32 is still dangerous.
We’ll see if the Dolphins can continue the good play that was on display against the Atlanta Falcons. The O-line looked so much better, we ran the ball effectively not just on the outside but in the middle too with RB Ollie Gordon. The Dolphins rushed 37 times for 141 yards. I can’t really recall the last time the Dolphins ran that much. Atlanta looked all out of sorts and couldn’t stop us on defense, and their impressive RB tandem of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier were shut down, and Atlanta had no answer with veteran QB Kirk Cousins making his first start in over a year due to the bone bruise injury to starting QB Michael Penix.
You know where I stand, if you tell me Stephen Ross will fire Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel even if we win 7 games, I’ll root for us to win every game until we reach 7, and then that’s the end of that. I can’t bear to see either of these guys return and I won’t waste my time next year with this nonsense if they do, so if losses make it happen more certainly, then I’ll root for losses. This team has no Super Bowl aspirations, we’re not a championship caliber team. This team at 2-6 isn’t going anywhere, we’re not running off 8 of 9 to win the division.
FIRE GRIER, FIRE McDANIEL!!!

Randy, I remember we used to be the class of the NFL, but that memory is starting to get pretty far back there in the rearview mirror, lol.
I don’t have much hope our next GM and HC will turn it around and get us back into that upper echelon, but I had ZERO hope Grier and McD would do it, so I’ll cherish that little bit of hope.
Wow!!! I love it!
And, I’m very OK with MM still being the coach…give him more rope and hopefully we get better positioning in the draft.

Chris Grier seems like a real class act and a good guy. Personally, I hope he lands on his feet and wish him all the best…and I thank the heavens he is no longer our GM.

Very well stated… I agree. I like Chris Grier, the person. The GM? Not so much. I wish him all the best as well.
Kong,
I have always believed that it’s talent that matters over coaching. I still do. I’d say it’s a 70/30 split, and I might even go higher on talent. Coaching helps, but even great coaches don’t win without talent. They don’t. Maybe 50 years ago when things were much different but not now.
That said, I still think a HC can set a standard of performance and accountability. That is built into the position. Nobody else has that power. When it’s warped…it goes very bad. That, I think, is where a HC makes a difference. It has to be taken up and supported by players ultimately, but a HC is there to mold and guide it.
MM allowed this team to go off the rails. I know our society doesn’t believe in personal accountability anymore, but the buck stops with the HC. He created the culture that allowed this mess to grow.

I don’t remember seeing Ollie Gordon flipping out over the call last night, but he deserved to be PISSED. Absolutely horrific call that kept us out of the game.
Oh him and one of coaches went off on each other pretty good
