2025 Season – Game 9 – Ravens @ Dolphins

Thursday Night Football!! The 2-5 Baltimore Ravens vs The 2-6 Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are hot, they are rolling after an extensive 1 game win streak. OK, they actually played a good game, and QB Tua Tagovailoa had a great game. The Ravens defense is terrible, worse than our own terrible defense. The Ravens are allowing 30 points per game good for 30th in the NFL. The Ravens can score though, even without QB Lamar Jackson, but tonight, the Ravens will have the services of Jackson as he returns from injury. Derrick Henry, even at age 31 going on 32 is still dangerous.

We’ll see if the Dolphins can continue the good play that was on display against the Atlanta Falcons. The O-line looked so much better, we ran the ball effectively not just on the outside but in the middle too with RB Ollie Gordon. The Dolphins rushed 37 times for 141 yards. I can’t really recall the last time the Dolphins ran that much. Atlanta looked all out of sorts and couldn’t stop us on defense, and their impressive RB tandem of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier were shut down, and Atlanta had no answer with veteran QB Kirk Cousins making his first start in over a year due to the bone bruise injury to starting QB Michael Penix.

You know where I stand, if you tell me Stephen Ross will fire Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel even if we win 7 games, I’ll root for us to win every game until we reach 7, and then that’s the end of that. I can’t bear to see either of these guys return and I won’t waste my time next year with this nonsense if they do, so if losses make it happen more certainly, then I’ll root for losses. This team has no Super Bowl aspirations, we’re not a championship caliber team. This team at 2-6 isn’t going anywhere, we’re not running off 8 of 9 to win the division.

  5. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I’m having a little trouble reading the play by play. Did we just go for it on 4th and 2 and miss?

  6. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Rock,

Yes, 4th from around the 20. We threw a fade pass to Achane in the corner, and Achane stopped running. That’s what it looked like.

  7. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Well for a game and a half the defense has played their ass off.

Malik Washington having a bad game

  10. Randy's avatar Randy says:

And now….with about 30 seconds we run a very slow developing play for no yards. WTF? And then a throw down the middle with no TOs to leave you with a 68 yard FG or Hail Mary?

  31. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Jonah hasn’t looked good tonight. I’ve watched him almost the whole game. He looks like he looked in college. A big guy who plays small. No push. No power. No quick recognition. No leverage. I never understood the attraction.

  50. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Fairly lose at halftime followed by exceptional adjustments at halftime. This is truly a Dolphins SOP.

  51. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Tua almost throws an INT….and then he throws the ball in the dirt giving up on the play with nobody within 5 yards…for an intentional grounding. SMH

  58. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  59. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So is everyone in on blowing it all up?

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

If they aren’t not really sure what it would take.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

9 games in we’ve had 4 double digit losses. We haven’t really been that competitive in almost half our games. No one can really defend this now even though some still try.

  66. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I and glad we lost. I think a win may have given the team false hope, and the likelihood of trades would have been less.

  67. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

have they fired Chris Greer yet?

  68. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Another team effort in failing…so sad.

I’m glad I fell asleep at the end of the 3rd quarter…lol.

  69. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

    Lol…misery…

“As the game was clearly out of hand following another Miami turnover, the fans made their way to the exits, but it was Michaels who had the best quote of the evening on the TV broadcast.

“Usually when you leave a game this early, you miss the traffic; these fans are going to run into it.”

  70. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Miami Dolphins fans mass exodus in the fourth quarter provides Al Michaels with perfect opportunity

It’s hard not to notice a large number of fans heading up the concrete steps as a game is clearly heading toward another loss.

Fans were shown leaving their seats; it’s become a common theme at Hard Rock Stadium, but the one guy who needs to notice it doesn’t seem to be. Ross needs to do better at connecting with his fans, or at least the ones he hasn’t lost yet.

  71. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I bet there will be more Bills fans than Dolphins fans at Hard Rock Stadium next weekend.

  72. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

It’s just crazy how that game went down, mainly the 1st half. There was something every offensive drive that just fucked everything up. Tahj fumble, then penalty on 4th and 1 led to missed short FG, then MM’s stupid play call on 4th and 2 in the red zone. The offense moved the ball well in that 1st half only to screw it up.

  73. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

BTW, what was that play call on 4th and 2. WTF! Ravens were in cover 0, the entire middle of the field was open. I bet 95% of any starting QB would have called an audible. Instead, you go with the slot fade to a RB in the EZ instead of just trying to get the 2 yards.

  74. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Herd, sorry to jinx your Marshall QB with my post yesterday. lol

  75. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I saw a 2027 1st round mock of all things. BBM doesn’t even go out that far. It said the Dolphins don’t take a QB in 2026 because of Tua’s contract. They had the Dolphins take Ohio State QB Julian Sayin in the 2027 draft.

I like his game, but he is another smallish QB at 6’1, 208.

  76. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Last night we witnessed a team with hope in the first half. Fumbles, penalties, referees beat them down.

They went into half and came out defeated and hopeless. It showed.

Blow it up Ross….even though I dont think anything will happen until season is over

  77. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

All of us here watch the games, although honestly it’s hard to watch all of it sometimes because of how bad we are, but we know what’s going on with this team. It’s not ALL Tua’s fault, but it’s so amazing clear that he plays not to get hurt, to save himself over the good for the team, because as I’ve pointed out before, we could get to 2-7 with Zach Wilson or Quinn Ewers too. I think part of it is he was coached incessantly to live another down by MM but now i think it’s also just survival instincts kicking in. The whole concept of live another down was to help the team, stay healthy so we still have you to win games. That’s no longer the case, so why can’t he just play like Baker Mayfield and put it all on the line to try and win games? 15 TD’s, 12 INT’s 1 fumble lost. Hard to win football games when your Qb is providing you with less than 2 TD’s a game, and has no rushing threat or rushing TD’s to add to that.

So, not only do I want to see Grier and McDaniel gone, but I want Ewers to start getting those starters reps in practice, ease him into games, get him more and more playing time each game. Phase Tua out to the point where he’s not the starter for next season either, or at least have a competition with Ewers, Tua and and a QB we draft next season. $53M or not, I don’t want to watch him for another season, I just don’t.

  78. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The next issue is there should be a directive from Stephen Ross to Chris Grier to trade anyone not named De’Von Achane, Jaylen Waddle and Patrick Paul. That’s it, anyone else can be had, and most likely we’re not going to get top compensation, but get what you can. Trade. Chubb, Phillips and Fitzpatrick. If you can trade Rasul Douglas and get a decent pick or Jack Jones, go ahead. These guys aren’t the future. If someone wants to give you a nice pick for Sieler, go for it! If someone wants Tua, do it!

  79. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’ve watched the Ollie Gordon penalty so many times and I’m still not sure if it was the wrong call. It almost looks like he tried to leg whip the guy, only way for sure you can see it wasn’t that is if you see Ollie’s feet hit each other before he went down. Was that a reviewable play? If not, I can definitely see how they called it.

  80. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    BOOM!

    @jeffphowe

GM Chris Grier and the Dolphins have agreed to part ways, per source.

  81. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    @flasportsbuzz

Here’s the Ross statement that you’ll see all over your timeline: This morning, I made the decision along with general manager Chris Grier to mutually part ways. I have incredible respect for Chris and his family, and I want to thank him for his many contributions to the Miami Dolphins over the past 26 years. “As I assessed the state of the team and in my discussions with Chris, it became clear to both of us that change could not wait. We must improve — in 2025, 2026 and beyond — and it needs to start right now. Champ Kelly will serve as interim general manager effective immediately, and we will begin our search process for a new general manager. I want to thank Champ for stepping up and his commitment to the Dolphins success this season. There is a lot of football left to play and we all need to fight even harder. “I have always been and remain committed to building a winning team that consistently competes for championships. I am incredibly proud of our leadership as an NFL organization and our continued commitment to the community, but our performance on the field and our team-building process have not been good enough. There are no excuses. I want to thank the fans for their continued support and passion for this team. You deserve a championship-caliber team you can be proud of. There’s much work ahead to return the Dolphins to sustained success, and that work begins now, finishing the season strong, evaluating all areas of our football operation, and moving forward with a clear vision for the future.”

    YES!!!!!!

  89. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Start the fire sale! Trade them all!

    Here’s to another rebuild!🍺

  90. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I think MM is being kept to continue losing. Better draft position. New GM will be able to bring in his own coach after the season and they can decide what to do at QB.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It doesn’t really matter. I would consider keeping Mike as an assistant coach if he were willing to take a demotion, but he won’t be the HC in 2026, that much is certain.

  91. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I never celebrate a man losing his job. I wish CG well, but I’m glad we’re moving in another direction.

I didn’t like him to begin with but after watching Jonah closely last night, maybe it’s time to look at our scouting department. There’s no way in hell Jonah should’ve been drafted that high….especially using multiple draft picks. Where’s the scout who endorsed that player?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I hate to say it because some will think it’s racist, but I think they took Saviianaea because he’s Samoan and would have a connection with Tua. It certainly wasn’t because of his play or his skillset

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I absolutely agree…scouting department has sucked for years.

  92. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,

I’ve had the same thought. Did they think Jonah would help Tua feel more comfortable? I’m not sure I really think that’s the way it went down. Stakes are probably too high for that to be a big part of the calculus…maybe a little, tiny part.

Remember, there were many on this site that thought Jonah was a good pick and rated him pretty high. Jonah looks the part. It wasn’t just CG who wanted him.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think it was definitely the Samoan connection. He wasn’t head and shoulders better than guys still available and the trade up to go and get him cinched it for me. Just my opinion as always.

  93. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I want MM gone completely. He can’t repair what he’s done thus far. You could see it last night. He’s at the stage where he’s angry and taking it out on players. Bad.

  94. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Chris Grier seems like a real class act and a good guy. Personally, I hope he lands on his feet and wish him all the best…and I thank the heavens he is no longer our GM.

  95. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I turned the game off at halftime last night. I can’t remember the last time I turned one of our games off that early.

I had paused for a half hour at the start of the game and I am so jaded I fast forwarded a good portion of that as well.

I just didn’t care. That is how bad it has gotten, that I just didn’t care during the beginning and middle of a game when we were still very much in it.

Most of us fans desperately needed change. Now I can at least nurture some hope going into next season.

  96. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

So I’m not really sure how it works firing your GM mid-season. I’d assume most of the guys you’re looking at for the job aren’t available until the end of the season.

  97. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Kong,

It was a weird night for me. I rarely get to watch games, so I value every time it happens. Maybe this has happened in our stadium before, but when they showed fans in the stands with bags in their head I immediately got pissed. The problem was….i got pissed because I was embarrassed. I’d never seen fans of my team wearing bags on their heads, and it was jarring. I didn’t like it at all.
