Chris Grier is gone, and I rejoice because this move brings hope that this franchise can turn things around, build a strong team, and become a perennial contender. Chris Grier by all accounts is a very pleasant fellow, but in big business, and the NFL is BIG BUSINESS, you have to succeed when you’re at the top, and Chris Grier failed to do that. I’m not going to spend time discussing any of his failures, I’ve done that plenty, but now it’s a good time to look to the future.
As many of you know, I made a statement, and ultimatum of sorts. I said that if GM Chris Grier was still here next season, that I would not continue to support this team, that I COULD NOT, and I meant it. I actually felt some sad pangs of nostalgia, because I’ve been with you guys and gals for somewhere around 12 or so years, give or take a year or two, and I was thinking to myself could I really just cut off ties with all of you here? I wasn’t actually sure if I could follow through on my statement, but now I’m glad that I don’t have to. Phew!
Now that the big domino has fallen, the Dolphins need to trade some players and get some draft compensation to help build this team better. Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Rasul Douglas, Jack Jones, trade ’em all and start this all over and build it the right way! Hope springs eternal as we can now look forward to bringing in a GM who has patience and discipline and lets the draft come to him, rather than reaching for certain players he likes and constantly overspending draft capital by trading up. You know who those players are and just how many times it’s happened. Inexcusable.
It hasn’t been easy being a Dolphins fan the last 25 years. We lived through the Patriots Dynasty with Brady and Belichick from 2001-2019. The Bills drafted Josh Allen in 2018, and the returns were pretty quick. The Bills have taken over nicely for the Patriots, becoming the Beast of the East since 2019. Yes, we had a glimmer, or as I would call it a “Mirage” in 2023, but the Bills in the end blew away the mirage and extinguished the silly thought that we were actually contenders. The Bills are stumbling just a bit, and now we have the Patriots who just walked right on past us, leaped past us actually, and are in 1st place after 8 games at 6-2.
The Miami Dolphins and NY Jets continue the cycle of hiring and firing new regimes, but that’s what losing brings. Chris Grier was given a wide berth and plenty of leeway, plenty of time, and plenty of money and cooperation from the Team Owner Stephen Ross. Chris Grier was GM for most of 10 years and finished with a 77-80 record. So while the Patriots had a two decade run at the top, and now the Bills and Patriots are fighting out, the Dolphins and Jets have languished at the bottom fighting for the basement spot in the AFC East for over 20 years. I’m not even sure why Dolphins and Jets fans hate each other, we should empathize with them as we have been in the same boat, a boat with holes in it that forever continues it’s descent to the murky ocean floor.
I have to tell you how excited I am to see who we trade and what compensation we get. I am once again excited about next year’s draft, even though I know not who will be pulling the strings and making the selections, but I will sleep well tonight knowing who isn’t. It truly is a time to rejoice, this team is staler than bread you accidentally left in the pantry since 2008. I know Mike McDaniel will remain with the team until season’s end, and really, it doesn’t matter. He was in over his head as the Head Coach, many good coordinators are, and Mike McDaniel was never even an Offensive Coordinator, he was just a run game coordinator, far different than calling all the plays. Even more different than leading men and shaping them for battle in the trenches.
I’m excited to see who we hire as Head Coach. Do we continue the trend of hiring a first time NFL Head Coach or do we go to the recycling bin and find someone who was already an NFL Head Coach? I know we need a strong personality, someone who instantly commands respect, and preferably, someone who was successful and has a strong resume in either the college ranks, has NFL experience, or was successful former Head Coach (Not named Bill Belichick). Jon Gruden is a name that has bandied about and I know this guy knows his football, and is a very energetic person with tons of grit, tons of personality, and has won a Super Bowl as a HC. I think much like the LA Chargers hiring Jim Harbaugh, Gruden could similar things for the Dolphins. I’m not stuck on Gruden, but I wouldn’t hate it.
GO DOLPHINS!!! Thank you for doing what needed to be done!

It’s not just Tua but McDaniel as well. He is a proven failure and is not HC material. How you can defend him is mind-boggling! He took the job with the claim that he can work with Tua and now you wnat to say Tua’s failures are not McDaniel’s fault?
This team needs to clean house!
I don’t defend McDaniel. He put his ass on the line for Tua, and Tua let him down at every turn. McDaniel did his best to get Tua that contract and that was his big mistake.
I thought you were defending him. My mistake.
I will scream if MM is back next season along with the spineless gimp Tua. I don’t want either one of them back, turn the page and move on for better or for worse, but at least it won’t be the same old shitshow it has been with those 2.
Tua needs everything to go well in order for him to be successful. He’s not the type of quarterback thinking just improvise and pull out a game. I think 2023 was an exception to what they can be and not the rule. MM has To protect him now and Tua has to protect himself. He’s one shot away from being out a football for the rest of his life. MM has a lot of difficulty beating the better coaches and the better teams in this league. Maybe at some point in the future he becomes a good head coach, but that’s not gonna happen with us.
if you were talking about me defending MM, I was only in that Tua makes him worse, than he actually is, but in now way is MM a good HC
put in the perfect situation I think MM and Tua could win an SB, but not together and with more help, than we could ever offer
Mike E,
I agree with you on the offensive line. It wasn’t constructed well, but we did also have some pretty poor luck in regards to injuries. Yes, you can say some of them historically were injury prone before they came to us, but we still did have some pretty lousy luck some of those years.
I think that Grier Really tried to put together a winner, but I don’t know if you remember me borderline losing my mind after they traded for Chubb. I said “ this is not the way you build a team!” The way this team was built by trading away. Draft picks trading up for players handing over big contracts to players we traded for is basically like a house of cards. It all has to work out in order for it to be successful and clearly it didn’t.
in regard to this year, I don’t think there was much they could do. We were completely handcuffed by the decisions we made in the past, which is why we couldn’t put together a decent defense. That said the secondary is performing a lot better than I thought they would, the defensive line is a supreme disappointment. .
Yep – I do recall saying that Sieler would be neutralized without a legit threat opposite him and then add in a rookie starting next to him as DT/NT, and that just made it worse. For me it’s hard to say bad luck when you bring in guys with injuries and they continue to get hurt. That’s on you.
some were bad luck, some were on him. I really wonder how much the loss of Calais, has hurt the DL. Grant has been a huge disappointment so far hopefully that changes
Bri – Chubb, Ramsey, Hill, and then the double downs on those guys, giving them more money when it wasn’t even necessary. So many draft picks traded for them and then stupid amounts of cap space used. The Tua contract as well, that’s on Grier. He should have played him on the 5th year, I begged them to do that, I guess he doesn’t read us. lol
why is everybody so worried about twenty twenty six? When there’s no possible way we can be competitive?
Do you want to watch Capri McD and Tua again for another season?
if its better for the long run, which will be my take, when he’s still with the team
Ideally, I’d like to see him gone, but I’d understand, if he’s not
I’m not going to chicken little it, like most will
Markey – I think Ross was lazy not firing McDaniel. My first thought was that he did it because he thought if he put say Frank Smith in as Interim HC that the team would start winning. The reports though that Ross may run it back with McDaniel one more season makes me angry. Think about it, we’re going to hire a new GM, and you’re already shoving something down his throat, that he has to keep Mike McDaniel as HC and start Tua. What GM worth his slat is going to want to take that job???
I will wait and see how this plays out. I also think he is keeping McDaniel to assure we remain a high draft pick, and if that is his thinking, I am on board with that. But if McDaniel is on this team next year, then I am not on board with that.
Exactly!
The talent has always been here; it’s the failures of the HC that sunk this team, as well as Chris Grier’s failed attempt due to Mike McDaniels’ incompetence! To claim a team that went 11-6 was devoid of talent is just silly!
But when you look at even that 11-6 season, you see a Head Coach who failed to win against good teams. Every loss was against above .500 teams. That has been his track record throughout his tenure.
Up until this year, McDaniel would always beat bad teams and struggle against the good teams. Now, he has regressed to losing against bad teams.
His time is up, and hopefully, he will continue his losing ways against the good teams that we have on our schedule this year. That os the only value I see in keeping him as our HC.
Look no further than the QB Markey. 15 TD’s, 11 INT’s. Can’t win a lot of games like that, especially when the defense is giving up 27 points per game
that falls on Mike McDaniel also
the defense is giving up 27 points a game because the offense keeps turning the ball over our defense have actually played well over the last couple weeks and has improved
Our DC has done his job when you consider what he was given to start the season
Ravens trade CB Jaire Alexander, 2027 seventh-round pick to Eagles for 2026 sixth-round pick
part of my thinking is use 2026 as a throw away year, then in 2027 we’d be more appealing to HCs and GMs
i’m not into instant gratification for this situation
no Veruca Salt here, fix it the right way
I totally agree. Fix it now clean house start next year off with a clean slate new GM new head coach new quarterback knew everything!
when you consider that they traded away our best defensive player Jalen Ramsey because the head coach did not like him. What did you expect? What happened to the defense early on
now, the defense is turning the corner as they all starting to play better as a unit it’s the offensive failures that has hurt this team, especially a quarterback who’s thrown the most interception so far this year that’s how teams are scoring points against us more than attacking our defense
our offense is killing us, our defense struggled early, but is now playing decent enough that if our offer would stop turning the ball over, we would’ve won more than we’ve lost
That’s a head coach issue
Ramsey was not our best defensive player- most athletically gifted, yes. But just like on every other team he’s played for, when the going got tough, his play was the opposite.
Why are we continuing to beat a dead horse. NOBODY wants MM to be the coach next year. NOBODY is defending him. HE is a big part of the problem just as Grier was. And when you compare our talent to other teams around the league, we are average at best. FACT. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m tired of average or as of 11/2/25, a team well below average. Grier was the GM or co-GM since 2016 with no playoffs wins, that equals major fail. Grier was not a good GM or even average and the majority of people here and in the NFL world agree!!! Just listen to them.
OK, done with my rant for this week…
Lol…love it!
Not sure how there is any defense for Grier? I think we all want Capri McD gone as well.
Are we at this point of the off season already? 🤣
No year is a throwaway year in the NFL! Never! We need to change the culture here to a WINNING culture. Keeping loser Capri McD and loser Tua is ridiculous. Purge this team of any remnant of the losing mentality here. Playing not to get hurt but not to win. FUCK THAT! Sit that fucking useless fuck on the bench with a clipboard for our new QB! Capri McD can try out for a cheerleading position but he ain’t fucking coaching here!
Our new GM deserves better to be than to be saddled with a shitty HC and QB
LOL…yup
Tua can play the Kirk Cousins role. Make his 50M on the bench next year. Then dump him 2027
I don’t really see any other alternative than this
Did anyone know that Ollie Gordon injured his ankle and may miss some time? Isn’t Jaylen Wright also banged up? Who will be the backup RB? Jamycal Hasty? Jeff Wilson? 🤮
yeah, he injured it Thursday on a run up the middle I believe
I’m kinda torn but I think there’s very little possibility the team somehow starts playing for MM and winning. I think that possibility does exist if you go with an interim coach. I don’t think it’ll matter much in terms of wins, but even a win or two affects that draft spot.
Also, folks need to understand that Grant was a project kind of pick. Yeah, it’s a high draft pick, but he’s far from a finished player. I agree that he has not looked good thus far, but I expected him to struggle. He needs to be driven and coached…and probably just a couple years to mature. If he doesn’t or won’t, he’s not going to be much of a player.
You might say the same about Jonah, but I’ve never seen the intangibles in him that make me believe there’s a really good player in there somewhere. I’m not gonna give up on rookie LOS players. Very few interior guys leap off the field in year one. Hopefully the current status of the team doesn’t negatively impact their development.
Ding dong the witch is gone. I would love Gruden, but I feel the tool known as Godell will not let Chucky return to NFL.
I am very happy Grier is gone , I HOPE McD is turfed once we get a new GM.. if they try to saddle new gm with keeping McD we will have a hard time hiring a decent GM.. as for tua , I don’t see anyway he is not on the team next year .. we can hope he and his salary albatross are gone asap but I feel here for at least next year.
Check out today’s Packers helmets .. I think they are VERY COOL
Mike, my logic on 2026 being a throw away year:
facts:
Tua will be our QB, unless somehow we draft someone that’s NFL ready. Why throw him into the fire of a hot mess?
We don’t have the cap to be competitive enough. Why throw money at band aids to get us close to 500
Assumptions:
The new GM can come in year 1 with no pressure to field a competitive team, just draft lunch pail guys with 1st 3 rds, guys that work in any system
No top quality HC will want any part of our 2026 team
was supposed to be a stand alone post, but I couldn’t continue unless I hit reply
Agree .. start the rebuild, but basically a set up year , clear salary cap space for following year …. Keeping MCD until end of this year gives GM option to work with him for one year while researching replacement, or if he finds someone willing to work a clear out year one turf his ass
I’m watching Detroit receivers going in motion and moving towards the LOS at the snap, so teams are still getting away with it.
Ian Rappaport talked about the Dolphins dealing with Tua’s salary in two ways
cut him after 6/1 and spread the dead cap hit over 2
years -(68m in 26 and 32m in 27)
or paying down some of his salary and then trading him to a team with a young QB as a bridge gap type
I imagine you would have to pay him something like 40m for another team
to consider it
that 2 year plan is what the broncos did with Russell Wilson
Im not sure I would prefer him o be on the roster in 26 and be our bridge guy
but I guess there is a possibility of some cap relief sooner rather than later
Let McD have all the rope he needs by “coaching” the rest of this season and show Ross he’s not it. Please.
The new GM will hire a new coach and they will evaluate the QB situation which, I believe, is fucked…lol.
Hopefully, Ross will get it right this time…hopefully.
Steve – That’s why you play Quinn Ewers this season. Get him ready for the games, IDGAF how insulted the Frajeel is, get him starters reps and put him in games until he’s ready to start a game and then don’t look back until you know what he can do. Ewers has talent, he just needs to be groomed. If you find out from a a decent amount of playing time that Ewers isn’t it, you can fall back to Tua. He’s going to want to play for his next contract, but you can’t go into next season planning to play a QB who values himself over the team, that’s a bad look.
OR…lol.
https://dolphinstalk.com/2025/11/what-if-tua-asks-out-of-miami-after-the-season/
I fucking pray he does Krishna!!! I really don’t want Tua in Twenty Six!!!
He threw his teammates and fans under the bus.
Do you think that endears him to the rest players?
Why would he want to be where he’s not wanted?
He’s no leader…
I’m glad FOR this weekend off from watching the Dolphins. I needed a break! LOL!
Lol. What if Tua asks for a trade? I say what the hell do you think I’m going to do with you? It’ll be to whatever team gives me the best deal for your sorry ass as quickly as possible unless I decide to just cut you first.
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass!
Wow, that Bengals/Bears game.
Sit Tua and play Ewers. Could care less about his salary. Never understood the argument that you “have” to play a player because he makes a lot money. What’s the difference, you have to pay it anyway.
100% agreed. That just compounds the problem. Realize the mistake, and fix it!
I haven’t watched a second of football since around 10 pm Thursday. That was brutal, the Dolphins, I sort of expected and the Herd, just say it wasn’t unprecedented. I’ve been traumatized! 😂
Then I started thinking, maybe I’m the common denominator?!?! 😉😬
Nah! Ain’t your issue. We all think that way though. When the Mets suck and then the Dolphins suck too, I start thinking maybe it’s me. Maybe it is? We’ve both seen the Dolphins have great teams, it’s just been so long since we’ve consistently been good.
Lol…hardly
don’t get why an O would wait for a D to line up, Brady never did
KC vs Buffalo
I was thinking the same thing!
Dan Graziano mentioned today that Jaylen Wright is likely available in a trade to a contender who needs RB help. Ya know… the same Jaylen Wright that General Grief spent a 2025 3rd rounder on to trade up for in the 4th round of the ’24 Draft.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46780977/2025-nfl-trade-deadline-buzz-news-updates-intel-rumors-deals
Just look at the career stats on this fucker. Jaylen Wright might net us a 6th or 7th rounder…
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WrigJa04.htm
If General Grief didn’t do that goofy trade up for Jaylen Wright, we could have landed S Xavier Watts in ’25 instead.
Xavier Watts has twice as many INTs as a rook (2) than our entire Defense combined. SMH
Tua is tied with Baker Mayfield for the most fumbles this season (6).
Here’s one positive note: Jordyn Brooks leads the NFL in solo tackles (55), and right behind him, tied for second place is teammate Tyrel Dodson (41).
Of course, we’ll have to see the results of tonight’s and Monday’s game to have that certified. Bobby Wagner (40) will likely pull ahead of Dodson tonight.
Regardless, that’s a GRAND showing by Brooks and Dodson!
I’m sure Ian Rapoport was just throwing the Tua possibilities out there. We have or I have put it out there before. You can’t (well, you can) release Tua next year pre 6/1 or post 6/1. If the cap is at around 300m, we are at about -8m to start out. A post 6/1 release will cause another 11m cap hit putting us around starting at -19m in cap.
That will be erased with the pre 6/1 release of Tyreek which will clear 23.6m. That would leave us with 4.6m in cap plus whatever is carried over to next season.
Chubb will need to be the next cap casualty. Though he will only clear 7.3m with a pre 6/1 release. That would put us at about 12m in cap plus what is carried over to 2026. With high draft picks, half of that will go to them.
Only way to really help the team would be to trade Tua anywhere from now to even post 6/1.
A team trading for Tua would cost them 40m in 2026 and 37m in 2027.
With Chubb, it makes way too much sense to trade him now. Because of what he will cost a team in 2026 at 20m, the compensation may not be that high. I’m talking a 5th at best.
Chubb traded or released will generate the same cap savings.
Trade will at least get us something.
Ouch!! That Jayden Daniels injury looked ugly/bad.
Looked like his left elbow was dislocated or his arm was broken.
Looks like we will be facing Mariota in Madrid.
I was hoping to see Daniel’s play. He’s pretty exciting.
I feel bad for him, seems like a nice kid
I would actually make more sense to trade Phillips now. It would clear 100% of his cap that he has not been paid yet and could be carried over to next year.
The picture in the article says it all on Jayden Daniels.
Jayden Daniels leaves game after Washington QB’s nonthrowing arm bends gruesomely
That looks terribly wrong
Painful, hurts just looking at it.
Yikes, poor kid.
Philips to the Eagles for a 3rd
Fire sell] has began
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/eagles-trade-for-jaelan-phillips
Oh well, it was expected. I like Phillips as a player and he is good for the community. All around good guy. This is the part about blowing it up that I don’t like.
All true, but he was never realizing his potential here. To get a 3rd RD pick on an expiring contract was very Un-Grier like, and it’s good for us.
Absolutely agree Mike. We would have let him “earn his release” into free agency with Grier. 3rd round picks are very often foundational foot ball players. (Except with Grier in charge, they are throw away picks like 6th rounders or he just blows the pick with shit players. Can’t wait to see what the new GM can do for the team with three 3rd round picks this draft.
Yes, trading a 3rd RD pick to draft Jaylen Wright might have been the foundation that Grier was fired on! lol
The Dolphins would probably have received a 3rd round pick as compensation when he left in FA but this way we get to use the pick a year earlier and the way the roster is now we may have fucked up the calculation by bringing in other free agents. Good move by Kelly.
4 Fernando Mendoza QB | Indiana A+
54 R Mason Thomas EDGE | Oklahoma A
68 Keith Abney II CB | Arizona State A+
69 Austin Barber OT | Florida B+
76 Malik Muhammad CB | Texas B+
85 Parker Brailsford IOL | Alabama A
104 Emmanuel Pregnon IOL | Oregon B+
106 A.J. Haulcy S | LSU A+
120 Oscar Delp TE | Georgia B+
144 Eli Stowers TE | Vanderbilt B+
219 Nicolas Radicic K | Indiana D+
But Tua . . .
What about Tua? He knows what is up! If he wants to pout about it fine. So what?
exactly, at this point, coddling Tua gets you nowhere
Either he’s a professional making way for a young QB, or he pouts about it. Either way he’s done now
I’ll take it!
Rock – Nothing, I can’t wait for the day Tua is either off this team or just holding a clipboard
BBM very happy about getting a 3rd for Phillips. Cleared a bunch of cap that can be carried over also.
Though, right now, the Eagles 3rd round pick is projected at #95. Need to start rooting against the Eagles. lol
BBM already roots for the Texans to lose since we have their 3rd round pick also.
What do you mean “start” rooting against the Eagles? I have ALWAYS rooted against them. LOL
lol, I rooted for them vs the Chiefs in the SB.
The Dolphins would probably have received a 3rd round pick as compensation when he left in FA
——–
My worry was if he got hurt again. I’ll take it this year. Plus, it’s higher than a 3rd comp pick since comps are at the end of the round.
Mike – That’s what i was thinking as I was upstairs getting ready for work. What are the odds Phillips makes it through the rest of the season healthy? If he were to get hurt (without trading him) for us, we’d get no compensation.
Someone on here mentioned it not long ago and was still on my mind.
X idiots going crazy that the reporting on the trade is that the Eagles received a top pass rusher. They don’t get the concept, maybe not their fault because Grier never built a good roster, that when you add a good player to a great team, that player becomes a better player too. More talent around you makes you a better player.
Right now, we are looking at picks 4, 36, 68, 75, 95, 105, 144, 219
Since Grier won’t be drafting, we can actually use #68 to draft a player without trading up
I am messing around on a mock site and I just had two teams offer me a 5th or 6th round pick this year along with EVERY pick 1 thru 4th round next year. It was hard to pass up. I also traded down in the 2nd round to pick up a 2nd and 3rd next year so for the 2027 draft I would have 1,1,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,6,7
1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,6,7 next year.
Yeah, some of those sites get crazy with the trade offers.

******
the thing is, in a comp pick, you only get that pick as a result of the comp pick calculation, so it would be decreased or eliminated with free agent signings. And we don’t actually get the comp pick until 2027.
so a trade has more value in my opinion.
agreed
That also. Thanks Piggy
I honestly think if we end up with a top 5 pick, we should be thinking about trading down
I like Mendoza a lot – but this QB class does not jump out as elite to me. It does seem deep though
I’m thinking QBs will be available a little later and so pairing a QB we draft with another high pick on offense might really help us.
the browns have 2 first rounders in 2026. I’m rooting for the Browns to start Sheduer sanders – see him fail but some how land at about 5 wins. And hopefully the jaguars finish around .500 too.
and they want to trade up for a QB
and then maybe we walk out of the first round with a QB and a TE or an OT too.
I’ve been hearing good things about Kenyon Sadiq
probably adding an OT to pair with Patrick Paul (one of our few bright spots) would be great
and of course – there are always pass rushers and cbs that we can add in the first round. We are going to need them as well.
it’s also never too soon to look at Samurias
⚡️⚡️ ( lightning crashes behind Piggy)⚡️⚡️
there are a lot of big wide receivers in this draft
pairing one with Waddle might work well
Piggy, Chris Brazzell is my fav and also one of Rich’s favs at WR. I always take in my mock in the 3rd because that is where they have him ranked. In reality, there is no way he lasts past mid 2nd. Five sites rank him a 1st rounder, found sites a 2nd rounder and PFN the only one grading him a 3rd.
He’s 6’5, 200 and runs in the mid 4.4’s. He’s also a decent blocker in the run game.
I can see him going late 1st, but, if there at #36, we might have to pull that trigger.
we may be able to acquire an 2nd rounder if these trades keep coming.
I think if we are going to add a WR – that’s the sweet spot
Kenyon Sadiq will be the first TE off the board. He is a perfect all round TE, receiving threat and one of the best blocking TE’s. He won’t last long. I would like to have him, but there are some good ones later like Michael Trigg and Joe Royer.
Just say no to Nyck Harbor as a WR. He can’t run routes other than a curl.
South Carolina has done him no favors and they have wasted a freak athlete. He’s 6’5 235 and runs in the 4’3’s (straight line speed that doesn’t show up much on the field, IMO). He is a good blocking WR and should have been converted to TE last year. He would be a top 5 TE right now if they did.
Sikema from PFF has a 6th round grade on him. Though, I would take him that late and convert him to TE. Kind of like what the Dolphins did with Tanner Conner.
Good job at getting a 3rd for Phillips. Personally, I like having the pick in 26 rather than waiting for 27.
Also, love seeing some of the guys mentioned above, Brazzell and Sadiq.
OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL Is that how many picks we have?
Most mocks including BBM and myself have Miami taking RT Fano in the 1st, so at least there’s that. LOL
Ja’Kobi Lane is interesting. I would take him in the late 3rd maybe top of 4th. He’s big, very similar to Brazzell but about a full second slower than Brazzell.
If it were between Elijah Sarratt and Lane (about the same speed), I am taking Sarratt with that 3rd. Sarratt is a great route runner, great getting off the LOS getting good separation and a great blocking WR.
Sarratt is 6’2, 209 and has caught 39 TD’s so far in his college career.
Is Sarratt ok? I saw he got banged up a bit in the last game. Definitely a fan of his, too.
Is Tate from OSU available in this draft? I hate OSU, but that kid can play. I assume the other OSU WR is too young for the draft?
Tate and Jeremiah Smith are definitely the best WR combo in college football.
Tate is a junior, Smith is a soph.
yes – he’s probably coming out from what I’ve read
Randy Mock Draft
They don’t have pick 95 in there yet but they are still giving a comp we won’t get so it balanced out a little. I threw in a CB and Edge for you. lol
4. Spencer Fano OT Utah
37. Lance Heard OT Tennessee
68. Chase Bisontis OG Texas A&M
75. Austin Barber OT Florida
105. Tomas Rimac OG Virginia Tech
137. Daylen Everette CB Georgia
145. Boubacar Traore EDGE Notre Dame
221. Pat Coogan OC Indiana
You can throw in Oscar Delp with that 95th pick, very good blocking TE with pretty good hands. LOL
BBM,
Is it just me or has Spencer Fano been playing for 12 years? It feels like I’ve been hearing his name forever.
This is his 3rd season. I started hearing about him last year.
Rich, Sarratt’s hamstring tightened up on him. No pull from what I understand. IU was was up a good bit so they sat him the rest of the game.
Yea that’s right. Now I remember them mentioning a hamstring. Thanks BBM.
Rich, yeah, at 95 or 105, I like Trigg, Royer or Delp.
@Schultz_Report
Sources: The #Dolphins have been open to trading 5x Pro Bowl S Minkah Fitzpatrick, and there has been interest from multiple teams. Miami already traded Jaelan Phillips to the Eagles on Monday morning for a 3rd-round pick.
If/when this happens, that should result in another day 2 pick (probably a 3rd rounder, MAYBE a 2nd rounder?).
@schadjoe
·
Ideal could be something like Minkah + 5th for 2nd rounder IMO
if it’s a 2nd rounder , that’s a huge win for us.
BBM,
No Dunker? Have ya soured on him? Lol
No, I was going to get him at pick 68 but he was gone.
3rd for Phillips, but its Philly, so #96
95 per tankathon but it’s going to change. Hopefully for the better with some Philly losses.
96 would be the lowest it could go if Philly wins the SB again.
Heck yeah, a 3rd for Phillips is great value, even a late in the round 3rd. I like the guy, but solid trade for our situation.
Hopefully we can trade Chubb and f^ckface too.
It would be nice to get a 3rd for Phillips, then resign him when he’s a free agent next year. lol
except we don’t need to pay anyone 20m on a bad team
Who says Phillips will be worth that much? He might if he puts up some numbers at Philly.
rich/piggy,
Can sophomores come out? Smith should be the #1 pick whenever he comes out. That kid is really special. Tate is a step down, but I like him too. I only know about WRs I see play, so I don’t know much.
He must be 3 years removed from high school, so a red shirt soph would be available. …Not sure if Smith is 3 years removed.
Edit: Smith will not be available, just 2 yrs removed
I expect 2026 to be a throw away season, and would like to trade the 3rd for Phillips back to 2027 2nd rd
A 2nd for MFFF would be highway robbery.
I would actually be jumping up and down with joy if we were to trade Fitz & a 5th for a 2nd.
It was MFFF and a 5th for a 2nd is what I believe Joe Schad said.
Beer to Rich
2025 cap savings for Phillips is about 7m
I was wondering. Thanks! They hopefully will be able to carry it all over to next year.
I would be trying to get as many 2nd &3rd round picks as possible. Those are my 2 favorite rounds by far.
CBS gives the Dolphins a B grade for the Phillips trade. Philly gets a C+.
Tankathon already updated.
4 Spencer Fano OT Utah
37 John Mateer QB Oklahoma
68 Romello Height Edge Texas Tech
75 Whit Weeks LB LSU
95 Chandler Rivers CB Duke
I like it except for the Mateer pick. I like CB Rivers but he will likely just be a slot CB in the NFL.
Nah, don’t like this draft. It reminds me of the Long / Henne draft. No thanks!
Commanders got all fucked up in last nights game.
QB Jayden Daniels a dislocated left elbow.
CB Marshon Lattimore torn ACL.
WR Luke McCaffrey broken collarbone.
Commanders should trade for Tua!
They said Daniels is only going to miss a few games. WTF? That was an ugly injury.
No freaking way man! He is done for the season! F’n arm was on backwards!
Oh, it was his non-throwing arm…I walk my statement back a little.
I know, it looked like something out of a horror flick.
If they trade MFFF, it will clear about 700K for the rest of this year and clear 5.8m next year.
We would have cleared a shit ton had Grier not restructured him. We could have cleared all his cap as none of his salary was guaranteed. Grier guaranteed 16.2m of it and spread it over 5 years, including 3 void years on the restructure.
If we trade him, this years restructure bonus will come out of this years cap but the remaining 4 years will accelerate to next year for a total of about 13m in dead cap in 2026. Again, he will still clear 5.8m in 2026.
Thank god he is finally gone, but I wish I could void 3 or 4 of his years for him!
So, when a player is traded, cut or retires the void years of his contract accelerate into the current year’s cap! (I didn’t know this) So basically Grier has been using smoke and mirrors and really has not been saving cap room by moving money into future void year!!
They all do it but Grier was really bad at it. I think Drew Rosenhaus has some dirt on Grier. lol
Not to the current year. Just his bonuses for the current year come out of the current years cap. Whatever bonus money is left, including void years, is accelerated to the next year.
The only exception is if it is done pre 6/1. Say we don’t trade him until next off season prior to 6/1. Everything we owe him will accelerate to that year instead of being split up.
@DavidFurones_
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel says team has shown their belief in Tua as a franchise QB, but as far as any potential benching later, “all things, in football, are on the table.” McDaniel, though, feels Tua gives Miami best chance to win against Buffalo this Sunday.
@WingfieldNFL
On the Grier mutual parting of ways: My focus Friday was on cleaning up things that went wrong in the BAL game and correcting those things for Buffalo. Mr. Ross told me directly. I prioritized the idea of not spending any time thinking of things that could happen as a result of that. I took the information as he delivered it. For me personally, Chris is a guy that I’ve worked with every day since I’ve been here. I’m a human being. Whether it’s football or life things, that’s an emotional toll when you relize things are going to be different. Having said that – none of my job has anything to do with any of my feelings.
I wish Jaelan all the best. It’s time to start over.
Same here, man. As disgruntled as I was at the time when we drafted him (due to his injury history), I grew to appreciate the guy as a good human being.
Best of luck to Jaelan.
I’m expecting us to trade Minkah and Chubb within the next 24 hours, with an outside chance of Waddle and Wright being traded as well.
With an outside chance of trading Zach Wilson as well.
Pigster (or anybody else),
You’re an FSU fan, correct? What do you think of WR Duce Robinson? 6’5″, 223, 4.54 speed. He’s having a great season for FSU.
Only thing I don’t like about him? He seems slow to me on his highlights. He seems to run like a 4.65. Nevertheless, his success this year is quite obvious.
Here’s his last game, against Wake Forest…
Duce vs Virginia
Duce vs East Texas A&M
Duce Robinson reminds me a lot of Malcolm Floyd. At any rate, he’s Draft eligible if he chooses to do so. Too early for me to judge where he’d go in the Draft. I’d like to see his vertical jump and official 40-time at the Combine.
If he runs in the 4.6s, I wouldn’t touch him. If he runs a sub 4.5, he could go early in day 2.
And lastly, I’d like to see him against a solid CB.
MF13, the one thing that stands out to me is his size. You can’t teach size, you either have it or not. Put another 10 lbs of muscle and he could be a matchup nightmare as a WR/TE hybrid. Having Waller for a game or 2 has me really liking guys who are nightmare matchups.
Exactly, man! If Duce puts on 10 lbs of muscle, he could become a really good TE. Don’t know anything about his blocking proficiency yet.
Conversely, if he can get faster by dropping 10 lbs, he’s going to be a real problem for Defenses.
Either way, Duce has been on my radar for 2 months now.
If you’re going to have a guy like this, I would also make sure to have a real blocking TE too.
True. You could go the other way and drop a few pounds, we’ll see his potential speed at the combine.
Yup, IF he declares for the Draft in ’26. He may choose to come back for his senior season. I want to see his speed and VJ.
He’s intriguing mf13. He does a good job adjusting with the ball in the air and I also like how he catches with his hands. Good strong hands from the Virginia video.
Absolutely!
Plus, he has those ‘go-go-Gadget’ arms. He’s a physical freak.
Rich,
Allow me to ask YOU about John Mateer. He had another great game as a runner… which I believe is becoming more and more important in today’s NFL.
Are you high or low on Mateer right now?
Mateer needs to improve in several areas, but he definitely has arm and leg talent. I dropped him out of the 1st round earlier in the year, so I would say maybe I would give a 3rd round grade right now. His height and throwing angle has me concerned, along with lacking touch on some of his passes. At his best, he does remind me a little bit of a smaller Josh Allen coming out of school.
….Not the current Josh Allen, who has taken that next step at being a franchise and future HOFer.
I know he’s been dealing with injuries, and that might account for his erratic passing numbers this season… including his TD/INT ratio.
I’d hate like hell to pass on him just because he’s having an ‘off’ season due to injury.
Agreed that his height has me ‘somewhat’ concerned, but not overly. Yes, his throwing angles have me perplexed… but then ya have Mahomes.
I’d give him a 2nd round grade, but with a buyer beware tag on it due to injury concerns. Perhaps the 3rd round is where he belongs.
As always, I appreciate your feedback!
Yea, his throwing mechanics are what have me concerned the most. You can get away with an odd delivery if your like Phillip Rivers and 6’5″, but when your 6’1″ or maybe even shorter, it means a lot of balls batted down at the line.
Truth!
Like I said last month, in the end all these QBs have some warts, it’s whether you can fix them or live with them. Time will tell on who declares and who stays another year.
@AroundTheNFL
Cardinals activate first-round DL Walter Nolen III, CB Garrett Williams, elevate RB Michael Carter for “Monday Night Football”
———–
My cat Walter Nolen is finally active tonight! I’ll be watching!
As y’all know, I would have taken Walter Nolen over Kenneth Grant 101 times out of 100.
And Zach Sieler has 0 sacks this season as the result of having drafted Kenneth Grant.
Who had the best run-stuffing % in FBS last season? Walter Nolen
Who showed the most promise as an interior pass-rusher last season? Walter Nolen
Who benefitted the most by playing next to R1P5 Mason Graham? Kenneth Grant
Who took Kenneth Grant over Walter Nolen? General Grief
Who would ya have to double on the D-Line? Both Walter Nolen and Zach Sieler
What happens when ya have both Walter Nolen and Zach Sieler to be accounted for on the interior? Our EDGEs could have eaten.
Instead, our EDGEs have tallied 8 sacks in 9 games. SMH
And Jaelan Phillips accounted for 3 of those 8 sacks, only recently.
And Chubb has accounted for 4 of those sacks from the EDGE position… he’ll be gone before 4PM/EST, tomorrow.
And Chop Robinson accounts for the other 1 sack from the EDGE position.
WTF has ever happened to Chop???
“Hopefully”
Rockphin,
I’m SO disgusted with our team right now… especially over how General Grief has mismanaged things over the years.
M, I think Rich hit the nail on the head on Duce Robinson. I haven’t really watched him other than seeing him early on in the season then I quit watching FSU games. When I watched those video’s you posted I immediately thought of Waller.
One draft site projects him to run a 4.65 like you said he looks like. I don’t think dropping 10 pounds will help that much. I think he needs to go the other direction. He has the frame for it. I read where he grades high on deep and intermediate routes but not so well on the shorter routes. I think that is FSU’s fault. “Route tree remains underdeveloped with a heavy reliance on vertical concepts”, again FSU’s fault.
He’s athletically gifted as a receiver. Put 10 pounds on him and I think he would make a good “F” TE. Similar to a taller Dalton Kincaid if you teach him to run those shorter routes. With his athleticism, he should have no problem with it.
Right now, 2 sites I have never really heard of have him as a 3rd rounder. The rest of them have him as a 6th.
Twitter rumors are saying cowboys are interested in Minkah
Ah yes, Jerry Jones….
BBM,
All I know is that Duce Robinson is a star in the making… IMO. Hardly ANYBODY is talking about him, and I feel he’s going to be something special… don’t care if it’s as a TE or a WR, he’s got SKILLS!
I’d posted about him here two months ago, and nobody had anything to say. It all depends on who drafts him as to what he’ll become in the NFL. Could he become a Darren Waller? Possibly. Could he become a Malcolm Floyd? Possibly.
So much potential in Duce!
And for whatever it’s worth, perhaps our next HC won’t want anything to do with big receivers… so as to continue the smallish, faster WR ideology of Capri McD.
We don’t know what we don’t know.
But you and I would BOTH like to hire Spags as our next HC.
I think I remember and was going to check him out but I must have forgot.
I checked his blocking grade on draftbuzz and he got a higher grade blocking than a lot of the TE’s. It’s not a super high grade, just better than a lot of TE’s in the draft.
Though, I don’t know if they grade positions differently as their assignments are different.
Cowboys reportedly targeting Hendrickson, Wilson, Chubb
Dallas has spoken to the Bengals about DE Trey Hendrickson and LB Logan Wilson and have also spoken to the Dolphins about OLB Bradley Chubb, according to Bleacher Report.
Jerry Jones says Cowboys have trade in place
What does Jerry Jones have up his sleeve? On the eve of the NFL trade deadline, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones told SiriusXM that Dallas has made a trade, but did not share who is involved in the deal.
“Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings,” said Jones, via The Athletic.
Jones went on to say that the Cowboys could make more trades before tomorrow’s deadline, so Dallas is a team to watch over the next day.
Report: Bengals asking for a first-rounder for Trey Hendrickson
More than reasonable for a contender
Dolphins also appear willing to deal Minkah Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick, a five-time Pro Bowler, just rejoined Miami this offseason as part of a trade with the Steelers. The veteran defensive back turns 29 later this month, however, and is due more than $18 million in 2026, the final year of his current contract. That may be why the Dolphins are willing to field trade calls regarding Fitzpatrick, per Jordan Schultz. It stands to reason that contender in need of an experienced secondary rental could be open to parting with a late-round pick to make this happen.
The Dolphins have shifted focus from Grier, who wanted to basically hold the line on keeping talent at the trade deadline, most notably receiver Jaylen Waddle, to fresh orders from Ross to make practically all players available at a good price, so the team can horde draft picks for 2026.
here’s where Grier went wrong (one of many of course):
when we had lots of picks Grier kept trading up, and for talent he could’ve gotten later, you can only draft so many guys in 1 year, they all can’t make the 53
what I hope our next GM does is keeps kicking the picks down the road, trade 2026 3rd for 2027 2nd, 2026 4th for 2027 3rd and so on
Cowboys 1st and 2nd for Minkah and Chubb
😛
I would love to trade MFFF. This time it’s about what we want, not what he wants
Per ESPN: The Eagles will pay Phillips’ $1.5 million salary for the rest of the season. The Dolphins converted $5.1255 million of his remaining base salary into a signing bonus.
Now we know why they freed up salary for This year last week
yeah, I think that was the expectation. They absorb salary for better compensation.
Cheaper to buy draft picks then FAs …
you aren’t reading that correctly
we owed him almost 7m this year, we converted some of that already counted 2025 cap into a signing bonus (so its kicked down the road)
we have more cap space now
getting a 3rd for a 2026 FA, that we weren’t re-signing is a steal
Champ Kelly’s first trade…a good player with a significant injury history on the last year of his contract who didn’t get to earn his right to FA traded for a 2026 3rd round draft pick. Excellent…imo.
Almost BBish…
I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned it here, but if we could recoup A comparable of 2 for Jaylen Wright from a RB needy team today, that would be another coup.
Good for him for a fresh start, as well.
