2025 Season – Game 10 – Bills @ Dolphins

There’s still plenty of this season left, and yet all I can think about is next season. For a moment, I had some positive thoughts because the Dolphins last week parted ways with former GM Chris Grier. I had hope that the only reason they were keeping HC Mike McDaniel was that Ross and Co. felt it wouldn’t make a big difference to make one of the assistant coaches as Head Coach. There are stories swirling around, so many different ones, and most on the negative side, but if an organization deserves it, it’s this Miami Dolphins Franchise. We’re all aware of the 25 year Playoff Win drought, and that will surely go to 26 years with the performance of this putrid team with it’s awful roster.

The rumors that are making their way around are just so depressing to me, I can only hope they’re not true. The first big one is that the Dolphins are considering bringing back HC Mike McDaniel next season along with QB Tua Tagovailoa to try and make one more run. The other rumor is that Interim GM Champ Kelly may get an extension for next year and beyond. All I can extrapolate from either or both of these moves is that Stephen Ross is too busy finding other ways to make money and conduct those businesses with energy not seen in piloting this Miami Dolphins Franchise. Frankly, it’s a disgrace, and just so lazy. We should be scouring the NFL, trying to find the best executive from a good NFL Organization, and interview all of them. Settling for a guy in house who was an Interim General Manager for one season is nothing but an insult to Miami Dolphins fans!

On story one, MM and Tua. I’m aware that Tua’s salary is astronomical next season (Thanks Chris!!), but you can’t plan on him being the starting QB next season. You must draft a QB next season, doesn’t have to be RD 1, but that guy should be given every chance to be the starter. Tua is a stale, unsuccessful show that just can’t be run back. Mike McDaniel, the other half of the story, let’s call them together “The Disastrous Duo” had one season with the cheat motion and both MM and Tua shrunk as the spotlight got brighter. Some delusional Dolphins fans remember 2023 so fondly as if we won the Superbowl. We had the Bills right where we wanted them. We were 11-4, after just barely escaping the Dallas Cowboys game with a 22-20 win, and the Bills were 9-6. Tua threw 1 TD, but it took FG’s of 57, 52, 54, 35 and 29 to vanquish the Boys. That to me was the first sign that Tua might not have the mettle. Then, a showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, a great opportunity to show just how good we are, and what happens? The high flying offense is grounded, Tua is picked off twice and the defense can’t make a stop and the Ravens destroy the Dolphins 56-19. The final game of the season, another chance for us to exert some dominance, a showdown @ Hard Rock Stadium against the Bills. If you’re thinking it didn’t go well, you’re right! Dolphins lost 21-14, Tua picked off twice again, 1 TD, 2 INT’s. This man doesn’t forget despite far too many others forgetting. This was the pinnacle of Tua, he was never better or healthier.

So now, 2025, Tua is clearly a shell of the 2023 player. He doesn’t look right, his arm is weaker, maybe due to his hip injuries, but we’ve seen some of his throws. Basically, he needs everything to be optimum to give his team a chance to win a game. He takes no risks, he won’t try to get a first down if the defense is there to challenge him, sometimes he just falls down rather than compete and escape a sack. This is what he is. To tell Dolphins fans that we’re not only bringing back Capri McD, but that Tua Tagovailoa is going to be the starting QB because he has a $56M cap hit is unacceptable. You made a mistake giving him that contract, don’t compound it by forcing him once again on us hopeful Dolphins fans. He brings no hope, he’s a black cloud on this team.

Now onto the other story, that Ross may give Interim GM Champ Kelly, who has been an executive with the Chicago Bears and the Las Vegas Raiders the GM job here for next season and beyond. Right there that’s a bad sign. Two failing franchises that can’t seem to be able to get out of their own way. I know the Bears are doing OK now, but Champ was there from 2015-2021, and the Bears beginning with 2015 were 6-10, 3-13, 5-11, 12-4, 8-8, 8-8, 6-11. So 48-61. Then he joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. In 2022, the Raiders were 6-11, 8-9, and 4-13, so 18-33. Now of course Kelly is not responsible for all of this, but I’m just pointing out that we’re taking a guy who was part of two failing teams and lazily thrusting him into a very important position at an important time for the team. This is the first year we’re free of Chris Grier and his trade ups and draft failures. So, hey, let’s just take this guy who is a really nice guy, coaches gush over how nice Champ Kelly. Chris Grier was a swell guy too! Please don’t shove this shit down our throats! ANY OF IT!

Don’t tell me we need HC Mike McDaniel because he gives Tua the best chance to succeed. That just can’t possibly true, especially if you’ve watched every game they’ve played together this season. One excellent effort against the Falcons. NO MAS!! To reiterate, Tua has had enough chances to show what he can do, and we’ve seen the results. Yes, Tua fans will blame the defense, the O-line, the ambient temperature and basically anything they can find, but don’t we all want a QB who we DON’T have to make excuses for? Don’t we deserve to have that? The Bills have it. It seems like the Patriots might just have it too. The Jets don’t have it, but they do have two first RD picks and two 2nd RD picks in 2026, and then three 1st RD picks in 2027. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll find one, but they sure might get a lot of other good players. It’s funny, Tua is 27, I think of him like he’s 40. Except Aaron Rodgers who IS 40 has 17 TD’s and only 5 INT’s and his team is in first place.

This week we play the Bills in a game that doesn’t mean a thing to me. Right, I couldn’t care less whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter to me. I know, the Bills are a hated division rival, but the problem is now, I hate my own team MORE than I hate the Bills. I really do. this has been building for a while, but Stephen Ross despite throwing money at the this team whenever asked, hasn’t taken the time or effort that he puts into his real estate business. Get Tom Garfinkle on it! Tell him to look everywhere for the next best NFL Executive and bring a good 5-10 candidates in for an interview! Show the fans that this is important to you, finding the next GM to lead this team for hopefully a dozen successful seasons. Don’t give us Champ Kelly because he’s here! Don’t further insult this fanbase, it’s not the right thing to do. The fans are already turning on the team, there are a million other things to do in sunny FLA rather than waste lots of money and time watching this shitty football team. I live in dreadful NJ and I’m not going to bother watching this team, if those rumors become reality. Why should I?

On point Mike E.! And, I agree.

Thank you for your efforts, sir.

  2. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

MikeE, while I agree with you, BBM is a glutton for punishment and will continue to follow and watch this team.

Though, working nights, I will not sacrifice my sleep to watch this team for the rest of this season.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Mike – That’s not the issue at hand. Why do we have to endure this laissez faire handling of our team? Forget about me, and how fed up I am. Why aren’t all fans fed up? You read what I wrote. Do you think that’s the right way to do things? Bring back MM and Tua, and give Champ Kelly the job for a couple of years?

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

NO! I am 100% on board with you. I do not want any of them back. I can tolerate having Tua another year because we have to.

As far as watching the team if all 3 are still here, I am still going to watch.

Like, if I am at the beach and I see a woman get hit by a big wave and her titty pops out, married BBM shouldn’t look but he is gonna anyway. lol

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

        LOL @ BBM

        🥹

  3. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I don’t get the Rueben Bain Jr. hype. Ten draft sites on draftbuzz have him as a top 5 pick with 6 of them having him the #1 player ranking.

Are they just going by his freshman numbers in 2023 where he had 7.5 sacks and 3 FF in 12 games? In an injury shortened 2024, he only had 3.5 sacks and 0 FF in 8 games. This year so far, he only has 2 sacks and 1 FF in 8 games.

If he was that good, he should be dominating the ACC and he is not. Not even close. He is tied for 39th in sacks in JUST the ACC.

    No thanks!

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Mike – You can’t compare Tua as the starting QB to a tittie pop? LOL! As a heterosexual male you’re programmed to NEED to see that, you can’t look away. First of all, we know Tua will be on the team unless we trade him, but that doesn’t mean he has to play. There comes a point where you come to grips with the fact that you have to pay him no matter what, but you don’t have to allow him to fuck up the season and take away potential fan interest of seeing a young Qb replace him and get his shot.

  5. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    TLDR

can’t bring myself to care about this team enough

apathy has set in. No faith that Ross will get lucky and pick the right people, and I say lucky because at this point that’s all it will be

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I disagree Rocko! Tom Garfinkle is a capable person. Leave him in charge to find the right guy to take this team for the future. Ross just needs to stay out of giving him any directives such as Tua must start or McDaniel has to be the HC or either or both of those. Just let the man do an extensive search, do the work, do the interviews and at least at the end of the process, you feel like they put in the effort and truly tried to do the right thing. That’s what I want. Not a lazy effort like Wayne Huizenga handing over the keys to the franchise to a an uninspired and uncaring slob like Parcells who called his old contacts in his phoney to get his cronies here.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, apathy is where I’m at too.

I used to think it was weird how OD blamed Ross for everything. Things that I didn’t see as being his fault.

I’ve come to realize he was just ahead of me in his understanding.

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Wow! Unconscionable, he must have read your article….lol.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I doubt it. Not gonna lie, it’s kind of disappointing how many people read it on X. You can actually see stats on how many views you get. Most times it’s like 50-60 that day, and then maybe up to 100 after a few days. You can “promote” your post, but you have to pay in order to do that, I think it’s crazy!

  6. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

As disappointed as I am with our Dolphins, I still root for them, and I watch good or bad; it’s just who I am. My hope is that at season’s end, we clean house and bring in a new regime to right this ship that’s been lost in a sea of mediocrity for far too many years.

I am on board for a total reset at season’s end! I don’t bye that we have to hang on to Tua, pay someone to take him off our hands, he is not the right QB for our division.

    Fins Up!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I completely understand that mentality, I think I’m just a few years past that kind of thinking. I would never put it past Ross if we somehow win 4 or 5 more games to just keep everything intact because we showed progress. That’s why I just can’t root for wins anymore because I don’t trust Ross to do what clearly needs to be done.

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

I don’t think Mike McDaniel is capable of winning for five more games. Hopefully, Sunday will be just another notch in his coffin,

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yep, that’s what I hope for. Embarrassing losses that will force Ross to clean out everyone.

  7. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Mike E, I read the whole article and agree 100%. Thanks for putting into words what a lot of Dolphins fans feel at this point. MM has to go, we were never a contender with him, even at 11-4. If you can’t beat any of the good teams, you are just a pretender.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Thanks Rich! I felt I had to do a little research myself today to back up what I was feeling. It’s amazing to me to me how X is littered with Tua defenders, and most of them think he had the best season of any Qb ever in 2023. I remember it quite differently. I remember him choking up against Dallas even though we squeezed out the win, and we had 2 game lead with 2 to play. Then another choke job against the Ravens who decimated us on offense and defense, and then the ultimate choke, in our house against the Bills in the finale. Oh, Tua defenders cry about injuries, the O-line, receivers hurt, blah blah blah. If you’re so good, put the team on your back and win the game despite any issues.

Besides the Tua nonsense, I want everyone to see what might be happening behind the scenes with the GM situation and HC too. Potentially handing the job to Champ Kelly is crazy to me. We have a very important draft next season whether Tua or MM are here or not. We need to add to the trenches on both sides and I think it’s a must we take a QB, before the 7th RD!

      • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Yea, I never thought Tua was the one. I wasn’t happy when we drafted him, but still supported the team. TBH, I wasn’t that crazy about Herbert either. Burrows was the only QB I wanted that draft.

BBM has brought up a couple intriguing QBs that might be there in the middle rounds. I have no problem using one of the picks, if we don’t go for one in the 1st round.

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Yeah Mike/Rich, the middle rounds are really getting crowded with QB’s. Some who keep falling and others climbing. We will have to wait and see who declares for the draft.

  8. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rich/Mike – I’m fine not reaching for a QB in the first round. We’ll see how things play out. Maybe if someone looks really good and moves up to either the 2nd RD or even late 1st, maybe we trade back and take them there like the Giants did with Jaxson Dart. I know the Giants traded back into RD 1 and gave up a fair amount, we don’t need to do that, just trade back, get some picks and then grab one late in the round if there’s some we think is worth it.

    • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I think trading back is the smartest move, unless all the QBs come out at once. Though, I think it would be a mistake, if some of them did come out early.

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If we don’t make the right move for the right GM, none of this will matter and we’ll be disgruntled fans forever. We have to hope against the odds that Ross doesn’t settle, and somehow ends up with an excellent qualified person to run this organization

  10. pbfinfan's avatar pbfinfan says:

Naturally it got to Tyreek and his mutonic ways…karma is a bitch Tyreek

His ways may have been the biggest deterrent to MMs success, besides MM himself

  21. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I see why Tanner Conner got cut. I think we should resign Dulcich and Rucci. Maybe even Julian Hill with the progress he has made. We’d have rookie TE Conyers back also.

Would we even need to spend a pick on a TE with Dulcich, Hill, Rucci and Conyers. It would not be the best TE group but it would be a solid TE group.

Why not? We have so many other areas that need more improvement.

    • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I remember watching Dulcich at UCLA. He definitely has big play potential. I really would like to see him given a shot this year and beyond.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Conyers was a good receiving threat coming out of college.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

      agreed

Especially since my stance is 2026 is a throw away season, we need to get our house in order, before we rebuild, take an extra year to get high picks and purge the cap

Have as much cap as allowed to carry over to 2027

Play young guys and sign plenty of UDFAs

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we have 78m cap space in 2027, don’t fuck that up, keep FA signings cap hits way down

Tyreek, Tua, Chubb and Minkah need to be given the get out of jail free cards

That still leaves some decent talent to rebuild, plus 2 drafts

  22. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

BBM worried. I think Penn State is going to be really tough today. Injuries to Surratt and OL may impact Indiana.

I don’t know if they have a rule that they can’t change it.If they don’t want to overturn it, but that’s ridiculous

N f l used to spot it, touching the front or the back of the yard line and brady, of course, used to get the extra yard every time. Now it seems more fair in the nfl but college. It’s horrible, as if they’re told to spot at one yard back every time unless you see the actual spot where it should be

There will be QB’s in the 2026 NFL Draft, and at some point we should take one. I still think we need to give Quinn Ewers playing time this season, and sooner than later to see what he’s about. If Ewers shows he’s a capable QB, and you draft a QB (Not in the 7th RD) next year, you can have a legit QB competition next season. Just because Tua’s here and getting paid doesn’t mean you have to play him. We know he’s gone after next season, so you don’t owe him jack other than to pay him next season and whatever we owe him for 2027 when he’s either released or traded, hopefully traded.

VERY happy we didn’t pull the trigger on that trade! I can’t imagine playing Josh Allen with Jaylen Waddle twice a season.

    • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Waddle is pretty good, but I would have made the trade. I’m not as high on Waddle as some, so it wouldn’t bother me. Besides, I think as Waddle gets older his body isn’t going to hold up and I think he’ll start being injured more often.

    CB Taron Johnson
    CB Brandon Codrington
    LB Shaq Thompson
    CB Christian Benford
    DE A.J. Epenesa
    T Chase Lundt

    DOLPHINS
    QB Quinn Ewers (3rd QB)
    S Ashtyn Davis
    CB Rasul Douglas

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I care that Ewers is the emergency QB. WTFF is wrong with this team? Zach Wilson is one year rental, he’s gone next season. When are they going to give Ewers playing time? Dysfunction, dysfunction, dysfunction . . .

  72. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Gotta say… I’ve seen tangible growth out of Jack Jones. He used to be shy as a tackler (even as a former Patsie* and Raider), but now he’s getting after it.

Raise your hand if you thought we’d have a 7-0 lead over Buffalo after the 1st quarter…

  83. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Full disclosure: I don’t want us to win! All we can do by winning is give Steve Ross more reason to bring back Capri McD and Tua. Plus, we’ll lose out on key draft position.

But I can’t lie: it would feel GRAND to beat the Bills!

    I guess we win, regardless!

  84. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we better stop buffalo on this drive or the 12 start the second half or…

    Jordyn F’n Brooks again!!!

  86. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Only our 2nd INT of the season!

  95. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Let me clarify, it doesn’t change a thing for us, but it might give the team owner Stephen Ross an idea that this team is just fine as is. That’s a dangerous situation for all of us.
