2025 Season – Game 10 – Bills @ Dolphins

There’s still plenty of this season left, and yet all I can think about is next season. For a moment, I had some positive thoughts because the Dolphins last week parted ways with former GM Chris Grier. I had hope that the only reason they were keeping HC Mike McDaniel was that Ross and Co. felt it wouldn’t make a big difference to make one of the assistant coaches as Head Coach. There are stories swirling around, so many different ones, and most on the negative side, but if an organization deserves it, it’s this Miami Dolphins Franchise. We’re all aware of the 25 year Playoff Win drought, and that will surely go to 26 years with the performance of this putrid team with it’s awful roster.

The rumors that are making their way around are just so depressing to me, I can only hope they’re not true. The first big one is that the Dolphins are considering bringing back HC Mike McDaniel next season along with QB Tua Tagovailoa to try and make one more run. The other rumor is that Interim GM Champ Kelly may get an extension for next year and beyond. All I can extrapolate from either or both of these moves is that Stephen Ross is too busy finding other ways to make money and conduct those businesses with energy not seen in piloting this Miami Dolphins Franchise. Frankly, it’s a disgrace, and just so lazy. We should be scouring the NFL, trying to find the best executive from a good NFL Organization, and interview all of them. Settling for a guy in house who was an Interim General Manager for one season is nothing but an insult to Miami Dolphins fans!

On story one, MM and Tua. I’m aware that Tua’s salary is astronomical next season (Thanks Chris!!), but you can’t plan on him being the starting QB next season. You must draft a QB next season, doesn’t have to be RD 1, but that guy should be given every chance to be the starter. Tua is a stale, unsuccessful show that just can’t be run back. Mike McDaniel, the other half of the story, let’s call them together “The Disastrous Duo” had one season with the cheat motion and both MM and Tua shrunk as the spotlight got brighter. Some delusional Dolphins fans remember 2023 so fondly as if we won the Superbowl. We had the Bills right where we wanted them. We were 11-4, after just barely escaping the Dallas Cowboys game with a 22-20 win, and the Bills were 9-6. Tua threw 1 TD, but it took FG’s of 57, 52, 54, 35 and 29 to vanquish the Boys. That to me was the first sign that Tua might not have the mettle. Then, a showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, a great opportunity to show just how good we are, and what happens? The high flying offense is grounded, Tua is picked off twice and the defense can’t make a stop and the Ravens destroy the Dolphins 56-19. The final game of the season, another chance for us to exert some dominance, a showdown @ Hard Rock Stadium against the Bills. If you’re thinking it didn’t go well, you’re right! Dolphins lost 21-14, Tua picked off twice again, 1 TD, 2 INT’s. This man doesn’t forget despite far too many others forgetting. This was the pinnacle of Tua, he was never better or healthier.

So now, 2025, Tua is clearly a shell of the 2023 player. He doesn’t look right, his arm is weaker, maybe due to his hip injuries, but we’ve seen some of his throws. Basically, he needs everything to be optimum to give his team a chance to win a game. He takes no risks, he won’t try to get a first down if the defense is there to challenge him, sometimes he just falls down rather than compete and escape a sack. This is what he is. To tell Dolphins fans that we’re not only bringing back Capri McD, but that Tua Tagovailoa is going to be the starting QB because he has a $56M cap hit is unacceptable. You made a mistake giving him that contract, don’t compound it by forcing him once again on us hopeful Dolphins fans. He brings no hope, he’s a black cloud on this team.

Now onto the other story, that Ross may give Interim GM Champ Kelly, who has been an executive with the Chicago Bears and the Las Vegas Raiders the GM job here for next season and beyond. Right there that’s a bad sign. Two failing franchises that can’t seem to be able to get out of their own way. I know the Bears are doing OK now, but Champ was there from 2015-2021, and the Bears beginning with 2015 were 6-10, 3-13, 5-11, 12-4, 8-8, 8-8, 6-11. So 48-61. Then he joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. In 2022, the Raiders were 6-11, 8-9, and 4-13, so 18-33. Now of course Kelly is not responsible for all of this, but I’m just pointing out that we’re taking a guy who was part of two failing teams and lazily thrusting him into a very important position at an important time for the team. This is the first year we’re free of Chris Grier and his trade ups and draft failures. So, hey, let’s just take this guy who is a really nice guy, coaches gush over how nice Champ Kelly. Chris Grier was a swell guy too! Please don’t shove this shit down our throats! ANY OF IT!

Don’t tell me we need HC Mike McDaniel because he gives Tua the best chance to succeed. That just can’t possibly true, especially if you’ve watched every game they’ve played together this season. One excellent effort against the Falcons. NO MAS!! To reiterate, Tua has had enough chances to show what he can do, and we’ve seen the results. Yes, Tua fans will blame the defense, the O-line, the ambient temperature and basically anything they can find, but don’t we all want a QB who we DON’T have to make excuses for? Don’t we deserve to have that? The Bills have it. It seems like the Patriots might just have it too. The Jets don’t have it, but they do have two first RD picks and two 2nd RD picks in 2026, and then three 1st RD picks in 2027. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll find one, but they sure might get a lot of other good players. It’s funny, Tua is 27, I think of him like he’s 40. Except Aaron Rodgers who IS 40 has 17 TD’s and only 5 INT’s and his team is in first place.

This week we play the Bills in a game that doesn’t mean a thing to me. Right, I couldn’t care less whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter to me. I know, the Bills are a hated division rival, but the problem is now, I hate my own team MORE than I hate the Bills. I really do. this has been building for a while, but Stephen Ross despite throwing money at the this team whenever asked, hasn’t taken the time or effort that he puts into his real estate business. Get Tom Garfinkle on it! Tell him to look everywhere for the next best NFL Executive and bring a good 5-10 candidates in for an interview! Show the fans that this is important to you, finding the next GM to lead this team for hopefully a dozen successful seasons. Don’t give us Champ Kelly because he’s here! Don’t further insult this fanbase, it’s not the right thing to do. The fans are already turning on the team, there are a million other things to do in sunny FLA rather than waste lots of money and time watching this shitty football team. I live in dreadful NJ and I’m not going to bother watching this team, if those rumors become reality. Why should I?

Let me clarify, it doesn’t change a thing for us, but it might give the team owner Stephen Ross an idea that this team is just fine as is. That’s a dangerous situation for all of us.

    ———

That’s EXACTLY what I had stated earlier! To win this game only serves to perhaps keep Capri McD for using Tua for one more season, plus we lose out on draft position.

this game is all about individual players.Guys are playing for their careers and for next season. And everything else, so it means something to them as a team.Nothing

we drastically changed the age of the team, lots of young guys playing, that shouldn’t be getting that many minutes

Now they seem to be ready to play

Before the season I said I hope we win some early close games, but I expected it to be a rough start, then come on mid-season, when the games get tough

Oh come on man! A dominating win against the Bills doesn’t bring you a LITTLE bit of joy?? Tua still sucks, McD made some serious Bone headed decisions. 32. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

OK I’m gonna be the first asshole to ask it.!

If they win out the rest of the year, they will probably make the playoffs

    Does everybody flip-flop back again?

Does McDaniel and Tua get to stay?

Or is it only if they win every game for the rest of the year?

which, of course, would mean, wild card, divisional, conference, and Super Bowl

and they blew out the Buffalo Bills and worsened their draft position

but it’s the first time I have ever truly in my heart rooted against them

just to put the rest of your minds at ease, I am going to continue to root against them for the remainder of the calendar year even if they go on a six or seven game winning streak

  37. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I mean, they beat 18 with a winning record

  38. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

JMO, but I fully trust Anthony Weaver to be a great HC… and I hope he’s our next HC.

REMEMBER what I have been constantly stating… Weaver started with 8-9 new players on this Defense from last season (Bradley Chubb being the one who didn’t play last season, though he was on the roster and soaked up game from Weaver).

Our Defense is FINALLY firing on all cylinders, and I believe it’s all due to Weaver.

Take my guy Jack Jones, for example. I POUNDED the table for us to sign him, and we did. He had a bad rap regarding run-game defense. Weaver has turned Jack Jones into a really solid run-game defender. This is but one mere example of what Weaver has done for our Defense… AGAIN… starting with 8-9 new faces who had no prior experience in his Defense.

  39. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I didn’t get to watch the game today, but pretty sure it was an aberration…lol

  40. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

  41. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Evan – If you could assure me that our fucknut owner no matter what will not bring back interim GM Champ Kelly, Mike McDaniel and try to build the roster for Tua to make another run, I could enjoy it, but that fear overrides any joy I would normally feel about it. You can’t blame me after all of the stupid things he’s done. He might look at this as a plus for McDaniel and Tua and run them back again. That would 100% be the wrong moves for this team going forward.

I know someone else who cried at a dolphin game 😎. We thought of him today when they said it started pouring just before 1/2 time … nothing wrong with showing emotion 🗿

JMO, but I feel as though Bradley Chubb is a KEEPER, despite his cap hit. He’s a leader, he’s a stud, and he’s far from falling off.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Perhaps we’ll restructure his deal to keep him with us (gulp!), but he’s by far — along with Jordyn Brooks — the heart of our Defense.

  44. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I wanted to lose out, I still do, but I enjoyed beating the Bills, beating them from end to end, and ending their 40 game streak of divisional losses of no less than 7 points. I’ll take it. I actually wouldn’t even mind beating the Jest and NE in those games too. Eff it.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can almost understand it, but wouldn’t it be great if we could beat them once when it mattered? Like we were in contention and needed to beat them for the division, or even just for a WC? We beat them when it means absolutely nothing for our future, and to me that’s hollow AF. Sorry

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Of course it would; these feelings aren’t all or nothing, or I wouldn’t be watching.

This game certainly mattered to them, so I’ll take it where I can get it.

Jags just got screwed by a Homer call, after getting into game winning FG range

  46. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

LOL, this season is crazy. The Dolphins, JEST, and Saints all win.

  47. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think the Bills came out flat in this game. Maybe they thought they were going to walk all over us like the usually do; for whatever reason, they came out flat. I also think their offense is really struggling at times this year without a #1 WR.

Combine that with us putting together a nice game on both sides of the ball, getting a couple of timely TOs and all the bounces going our way equaled big win for us.

The majority of us don’t have to be told this doesn’t change anything. We’re 3-7 lol.

  48. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

our 2 blowout wins have some things in common

Both Buffalo and Atlanta give up over 140 ypg rushing

We ran well against both, because we stuck with it

  49. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I lost track of the number of times that suck ass guard we drafted in the 3rd got beat right at the snap like he was standing still. He is awful.

  50. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I started late and was behind the whole game, so I’m just getting caught up commenting some of my thoughts on the game.

One of a things I found really weird was Ollie getting a single carry. WTF was that? He has an injury, clearly Wright was the 2nd back and did fine. And they throw Gordon in there for a play for some dumb reason.

Combine that bizarre decision with the way our coach wasted all 3 TOs in the first half before we even reached the 9 minute mark of the 2nd quarter and still all I can do is shake my head at McD.

  51. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

So I guess we’re just going with Patterson the rest of the season?

I don’t even know what Sanders’ injury is, but I thought he was supposed to come back 4-6 weeks into the season.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think they feel like as long as Patterson is doing Ok, and he has, they’ll just let Sanders heal up fully. Sanders is signed through next season, so we’ll see what happens.

  52. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

This offense is the De’Von Achane show. He makes this offense go. If teams shut him down, we’re done, but it seems like no one has really been able to shut him down completely.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

He’s phenomenal. What continually surprises me is he doesn’t go down like a little back. He’s not a bruiser by any stretch, but he runs hard every play and often gets a little bit extra.

  53. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The other thing to consider is that the Patriots look ready to steal the mantle from the Bills, and they absolutely look for real. They are a complete team, a very well rounded team. Despite the win today, the Bills are still a better team than us, and we will have our work cut out for ourselves to stay ahead of the Jets who have things laid out very nicely for themselves with lots of draft capital , and then tons of cap space, somewhere around $93M next season and then $209M in 2027.

  54. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Even though we won today, I’m still not waking up 6 AM next Sunday to watch our game, lol.

(On a side note, this is the only downside to west coast NFL football- games in Europe starting so early.)

The Dolphins looked great today, and Tua was very good. Achane is an absolute stud. Can’t wait for the game in Spain next week!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tua was alright, not very good. 173 yards, 2 TD’s 2 INT’s. Maybe very good for Tua? lol

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

pseudo interceptions today, since they were deep and acted like punts, but ints none the less and I’ll advised throws, they just didn’t hurt or effect the game

  56. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We get a break next week not having to face Jayden Daniels.

  57. Randy's avatar Randy says:

From what I’ve seen, Achane has learned that he needs to use his speed to hit holes fast. He needs to get past the first line of defense as fast as possible and then make moves. Get up field as fast as possible.

  58. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Wow, the president is in the booth at the Commanders game. I wonder if they prepped the booth (security-wise) or if the announcers went to a special room where he is.

  62. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I hope they play this way next week: I’m going to the game

  63. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

As I was washing the pots after dinner, the realization occurred to me. When you watch sports as a kid, everything is so simple, you take each game individually, you don’t really have the capacity to think past that, it’s just raw emotion and joy or sadness. As an adult, and long time fan of a team, I personally am unable to do that with the state of the team, knowing all the previous fuck ups of our owner, and understanding that getting the right person in charge of the football operations of this team is so important for both the immediate success of the team, but also the future. We’ve seen half measures for decades, taking too many chances on first time NFL HC’s that looked absurdly overmatched as the man who runs the entire team. We’ve had defensive guru’s, and mostly offensive guru’s that were assistant coaches, coordinators, etc etc.

So basically, trying to find a GM that’s willing to work with both mike McDaniel and Tua is shooting the team in foot. You just can’t do it that way, you’re just begging to fail. Even keeping Champ Kelly on for another season is setting you back years of development if you’re doing it because you have Tua on a ridiculous salary in ’26. We know he’s going to be on the team, but that doesn’t mean he has to be albatross around the team’s neck. Sure, he’ll be on the roster but you owe him nothing beyond the money you’re paying him, which is an awful lot. Letting Ewers play some this season and drafting a QB next season is the best plan for the team. See how Ewers develops, see how the rookie QB develops, and if neither is ready to command this team, you play Tua until they are ready, if that occurs at all in ’26, but again, if it does, Tua is not part of the future so if/when that happens, unless we’re contending, he takes a seat and that’s that.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

you’re only considering the view from 10,000 feet

What about the players, that are auditioning for next season, rookie development (not named Ewers) that need good QB, what about the paying fans (season ticket holders), future FAs who may not want to play for a 3-14 team

  66. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Today was a great day. Beating the Bills is always a good time. Beating their ass for the first time in ages, since they had studs like EJ Manuel and JP Losman, was awesome. We’ll see if they can turn this into a string of success, but McD still has the same issues and hasn’t really learned too much. Tua is still the same int throwing, instead of TD throwing, machine he has been the last few years. If not for a much improved defense and Achane, this team wouldn’t have the first win this year.

I hope Ross sees that, but he seems to not watch the games too closely. I don’t mind another year of Tua due to cost, but McD is just a waste of money at this point. Hopefully they prove me wrong with their backs to the wall but I doubt it. You don’t accidentally become a 3-7 team.

  67. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Don’t be surprised to see Achane with a hold out or hold in for a contract extension next year.

It’s just a crazy season. Who would have thought that after week 10 the Colts would be the top team in the NFL.

Also, for that matter, who would have thought that after week 10 the top 3 teams in the AFC would be the 8-2 Colts, 8-2 Broncos and the 8-2 Patriots.

  71. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Steve – it’s not from 10,000 feet, it’s right in front of our noses. 1 win here and there is a cheap thrill. To me, the season is over, it’s all about the future for me. Who even knows who will be on the roster next season? Also, they better find a competent GM to make sure we keep Achane.

  73. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

After today’s games Dolphins picks falls to #7. I can deal with that as no one next draft is worth a top 5 pick anyway. Jets fall to #5.

I hate the Texans scored 26 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to win. That dropped our 3rd round pick from them.

I hope the Eagles lose Monday night at Green Bay. That will bump up our 3rd from them for Phillips about 5 spots.

MIKE E : I don’t want the new GM to be forced to keep MCD , Tua or anyone else for that matter.. that’s just going to limit who is willing to come fix this mess…

We could do a Deshaun Watson with Tua.. eat the money and he never plays .. we will not get anyone to trade for him AND his salary.. so possibly eat 1/2 of it for a year if we have to , I dunno … I am lost upset with how little Cap we have to use the next two years .. that is almost the worst part of the Grier years ….

I hope Achane is smart enough to realize we can’t do a rework on him this offseason without a whole lotta changes first .. but why should he care 🤷‍♂️. He has drastically overplayed his contract, unlike so many others who just got paid more and then left us holding a three year bag of shit

Saw that Joe Banner was glazing McDaniel, so he could be jockeying for the GM spot.

Leave it to Miami to lose enough games to avoid the playoffs but then win meaningless games to drop in the draft order.

  80. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m not as concerned with the draft order as I am Stephen Ross making terrible decisions based on a few wins after the season was already over

  81. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Well, I have both concerns because it would be nice to have the top pick or at least a top 5 pick throughout the entire draft rather than to be picking in the middle of the draft order.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I hear that. I think we’ll have a top 10 pick, but you never know. Mike McDaniel is finally loose now that the season is over, and we have some weak competition coming up.

  82. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I hate it! We are now drafting at 11 or 12.

  83. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s cruel Markey – That’s like my worst possible scenario for our team. Stephen Ross thinks he has his HC in McDaniel, keeps Champ Kelly as GM, and we fuck up an entire draft and free agency with a GM that had no business being the GM, a HC who had no business being the HC, and a QB who had no business being the QB

  84. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    We’re at #7 right now

Kong, I have almost exclusively watched Jonah this season. He is comically bad. I joked last week about signing up for social media so I could post Videos of him set to Benny Hill music. Bumbling would be an improvement over him. He looks like he is willfully trying to be bad it is so awful!

  87. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Forget about draft position guys

out next 3 games are vs Washington with Jacoby Brisket at QB, the Saints and the Jests

it wouldn’t surprise me if we were 6-7 after those next 3 games

we are not vying for position in a QB sweepstakes anyway

Right now, according to Todd McShay, it’s looking like Moore, Simpson and Sellers are going back to school in 2026

So if that happens we aren’t going to see a run at QB in the top 10

middle of the pack draft position is fine, if we are making good picks and building a team

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      If-If-If

Who is going to be making the picks? Interim GM Champ Kelly? That’s a disgrace, it really is. Jets are loaded with draft picks and cap space. Patriots are a much more complete team than we are. Bills looked bad yesterday, but as long as they have Josh Allen, they’re better than we are. Is Mike McDaniel coming back next season? Half measures get you nowhere good. This is the problem here in Miami and has been the problem for far too long

  88. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

have we figured out the blueprint on how to beat the Bills? Keep Allen in the pocket, run the ball against their poor run D and to keep Allen off the field. Coming out Allen’s biggest knock was completion %, he’s much better throwing to wide open receivers out of the pocket

  89. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Guys, you know the SB is not off the table for the Dolphins this year. It’s still possible….

  90. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

have we figured out our identity? Run the ball, keep everything tight and in front of you

By taking the opening kickoff it allows us more of a chance to play with the lead, playing from behind we tend to abandon the run

  91. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    you sadistic F 😜

  92. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We reduced Josh from Superman to mickey mouse yesterday, door is open for the rest of the league to follow up

  93. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

coming into the game the Bills were the nfls leading rush offense with over 150 yards a game (and 2nd in overall offense)

we held them to under 90 yards and that includes the yardage gained on two fumbles (24 yards)

some of that is bc they were trailing early

but I also think our young DL is playing much better and allowing guys like Brooks to make big plays

Jordan Phillips seems like he is getting a lot more snaps, he had 3 tackles. Grant had tackle, Zeke Biggers probably had the most snaps of his career (he had 2 tackles)

we have some pieces to work with on defense

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Phillips needs to stop celebrating every time he gets a tackle. Needs to be told tackling is his job not a reason to celebrate. Win the game, then dance.

  94. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

by having a good team yr 1 in the MM era, it bypassed his need to establish the basics

Last year after the rough start, we just needed to get Tua back, this year they had to rack their brains to figure it out

MM still needs to go, he just isn’t HC material

  95. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Piggy – Losing might get you good picks because the owner finally does what must be done, cleans house. Out goes McDaniel, Interim GM Champ Kelly and we might find the right GM who knows what needs to be done to win. Maybe we trade back, still get a great player and at the same time pick up draft picks either for ’26 or maybe for ’27.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

the only thing losing gets you is losing

I am baffled by the logic that if you have no faith in this team, losing gives them some kind of epiphany they were not already motivated to have

  96. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Steve, I am going to actively root against the Dolphins for the rest of the season, so there is a chance! LOL

  97. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We had nearly 200 yard on the ground yesterday

out QB still threw 2 picks

You rarely see that. All Tua had to be was a game manager and he didn’t do that well. Those deep passes look more like punts sometimes

I question if this team is really that bad. I wonder if we are a much better team with a different QB

Tua needs to start playing like a game manager. We are getting a much better running game with the Brunskill TE/OT impact. This is the first game I can remember watch8 g where we didn’t find ourselves in 2nd and long over and over again

Tua is going to have to push the ball downfield occasionally, hopefully he can avoid throwing it up for grabs

he had a couple of good throws yesterday, but he’s not a rookie where you are looking for flashes. I thought he was the worst part about the Dolphins yesterday

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

They can’t stop the run and don’t have a receiver that can create separation. They aren’t going anywhere this year
