2025 Season – Game 10 – Bills @ Dolphins

There’s still plenty of this season left, and yet all I can think about is next season. For a moment, I had some positive thoughts because the Dolphins last week parted ways with former GM Chris Grier. I had hope that the only reason they were keeping HC Mike McDaniel was that Ross and Co. felt it wouldn’t make a big difference to make one of the assistant coaches as Head Coach. There are stories swirling around, so many different ones, and most on the negative side, but if an organization deserves it, it’s this Miami Dolphins Franchise. We’re all aware of the 25 year Playoff Win drought, and that will surely go to 26 years with the performance of this putrid team with it’s awful roster.

The rumors that are making their way around are just so depressing to me, I can only hope they’re not true. The first big one is that the Dolphins are considering bringing back HC Mike McDaniel next season along with QB Tua Tagovailoa to try and make one more run. The other rumor is that Interim GM Champ Kelly may get an extension for next year and beyond. All I can extrapolate from either or both of these moves is that Stephen Ross is too busy finding other ways to make money and conduct those businesses with energy not seen in piloting this Miami Dolphins Franchise. Frankly, it’s a disgrace, and just so lazy. We should be scouring the NFL, trying to find the best executive from a good NFL Organization, and interview all of them. Settling for a guy in house who was an Interim General Manager for one season is nothing but an insult to Miami Dolphins fans!

On story one, MM and Tua. I’m aware that Tua’s salary is astronomical next season (Thanks Chris!!), but you can’t plan on him being the starting QB next season. You must draft a QB next season, doesn’t have to be RD 1, but that guy should be given every chance to be the starter. Tua is a stale, unsuccessful show that just can’t be run back. Mike McDaniel, the other half of the story, let’s call them together “The Disastrous Duo” had one season with the cheat motion and both MM and Tua shrunk as the spotlight got brighter. Some delusional Dolphins fans remember 2023 so fondly as if we won the Superbowl. We had the Bills right where we wanted them. We were 11-4, after just barely escaping the Dallas Cowboys game with a 22-20 win, and the Bills were 9-6. Tua threw 1 TD, but it took FG’s of 57, 52, 54, 35 and 29 to vanquish the Boys. That to me was the first sign that Tua might not have the mettle. Then, a showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, a great opportunity to show just how good we are, and what happens? The high flying offense is grounded, Tua is picked off twice and the defense can’t make a stop and the Ravens destroy the Dolphins 56-19. The final game of the season, another chance for us to exert some dominance, a showdown @ Hard Rock Stadium against the Bills. If you’re thinking it didn’t go well, you’re right! Dolphins lost 21-14, Tua picked off twice again, 1 TD, 2 INT’s. This man doesn’t forget despite far too many others forgetting. This was the pinnacle of Tua, he was never better or healthier.

So now, 2025, Tua is clearly a shell of the 2023 player. He doesn’t look right, his arm is weaker, maybe due to his hip injuries, but we’ve seen some of his throws. Basically, he needs everything to be optimum to give his team a chance to win a game. He takes no risks, he won’t try to get a first down if the defense is there to challenge him, sometimes he just falls down rather than compete and escape a sack. This is what he is. To tell Dolphins fans that we’re not only bringing back Capri McD, but that Tua Tagovailoa is going to be the starting QB because he has a $56M cap hit is unacceptable. You made a mistake giving him that contract, don’t compound it by forcing him once again on us hopeful Dolphins fans. He brings no hope, he’s a black cloud on this team.

Now onto the other story, that Ross may give Interim GM Champ Kelly, who has been an executive with the Chicago Bears and the Las Vegas Raiders the GM job here for next season and beyond. Right there that’s a bad sign. Two failing franchises that can’t seem to be able to get out of their own way. I know the Bears are doing OK now, but Champ was there from 2015-2021, and the Bears beginning with 2015 were 6-10, 3-13, 5-11, 12-4, 8-8, 8-8, 6-11. So 48-61. Then he joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. In 2022, the Raiders were 6-11, 8-9, and 4-13, so 18-33. Now of course Kelly is not responsible for all of this, but I’m just pointing out that we’re taking a guy who was part of two failing teams and lazily thrusting him into a very important position at an important time for the team. This is the first year we’re free of Chris Grier and his trade ups and draft failures. So, hey, let’s just take this guy who is a really nice guy, coaches gush over how nice Champ Kelly. Chris Grier was a swell guy too! Please don’t shove this shit down our throats! ANY OF IT!

Don’t tell me we need HC Mike McDaniel because he gives Tua the best chance to succeed. That just can’t possibly true, especially if you’ve watched every game they’ve played together this season. One excellent effort against the Falcons. NO MAS!! To reiterate, Tua has had enough chances to show what he can do, and we’ve seen the results. Yes, Tua fans will blame the defense, the O-line, the ambient temperature and basically anything they can find, but don’t we all want a QB who we DON’T have to make excuses for? Don’t we deserve to have that? The Bills have it. It seems like the Patriots might just have it too. The Jets don’t have it, but they do have two first RD picks and two 2nd RD picks in 2026, and then three 1st RD picks in 2027. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll find one, but they sure might get a lot of other good players. It’s funny, Tua is 27, I think of him like he’s 40. Except Aaron Rodgers who IS 40 has 17 TD’s and only 5 INT’s and his team is in first place.

This week we play the Bills in a game that doesn’t mean a thing to me. Right, I couldn’t care less whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter to me. I know, the Bills are a hated division rival, but the problem is now, I hate my own team MORE than I hate the Bills. I really do. this has been building for a while, but Stephen Ross despite throwing money at the this team whenever asked, hasn’t taken the time or effort that he puts into his real estate business. Get Tom Garfinkle on it! Tell him to look everywhere for the next best NFL Executive and bring a good 5-10 candidates in for an interview! Show the fans that this is important to you, finding the next GM to lead this team for hopefully a dozen successful seasons. Don’t give us Champ Kelly because he’s here! Don’t further insult this fanbase, it’s not the right thing to do. The fans are already turning on the team, there are a million other things to do in sunny FLA rather than waste lots of money and time watching this shitty football team. I live in dreadful NJ and I’m not going to bother watching this team, if those rumors become reality. Why should I?

  1. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Chubb said a win over Buffalo could help springboard Miami toward turning around its season.

“We all know what we can do, and we believe that if we put our minds to it, we can play complementary football like we did,” Chubb said. “The sky’s the limit, man. You know what I mean? It’s not delusional — at the end of the day, we know we can do it.”

See MikeE Chubb says it’s not delusional…

  2. Randy's avatar Randy says:

People who are delusional don’t know they’re delusional….thats kinda the point.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

2 blowout wins in 3 games will do that, don’t think its sustainable, because element of surprise is gone, we won’t get the perfect storm of weak run D and surprise each week

MM will actually have to put together a good game plan week to week

  3. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I wonder, if getting rid of Phillips helps our D

I’m pretty sure it did yesterday, his behind the QB pass rush falls right into Josh’s plan to run

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

it opens up his run lanes

      • pieguyevan's avatar pieguyevan says:

I was thinking the same thing! The lanes were covered on the DL the whole game. Coaches usually had something to play about certain players “trying to make a play, instead of doing their assignments” and yesterday I thought it may have been in reference to Philips always over pursuing.

  4. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I love the NFL and its media machine. So, now, after failure after failure somehow NOW the team is “playing for MM” and aren’t quitting on him? They already quit on him weeks ago. I’ve watched this team stop trying multiple times in games. I’ve watched guys give up and not try. Now they decided it’s time to play hard? I doubt it. It was one game. At home. Against a divisional opponent. The jills played terribly. It means nothing.

  5. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

My fears of keeping Mike McDaniel have come true. He will start to win meaningless games and keep his job going into next season.

Crazy weather again. It’s raining at my sister-in-laws up in Smithfield, NY but it’s spitting snow down in Atlanta, GA.

Giants fire Brian Daboll, ending a turbulent four-year run that began with early promise

    ———-

“turbulent four-year run that began with early promise”.

    Sound familiar?

Hmmmm, I know another team in a similar situation, but they are 3-7 and supposedly have had a starting QB in place all season.

  8. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

DT Daron Payne was suspended one game by the NFL for an act of unsportsmanlike conduct in Sunday’s loss to the Lions. Payne was ejected from the game in the second quarter after punching Detroit WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. Payne is eligible to return to the Commanders’ active roster on Monday, Nov. 17, following Washington’s Week 11 game against the Dolphins in Madrid. Payne may appeal the ban.

    —————-

I knew it. The NFL is trying to help the Dolphins win so they can’t draft Fernando Mendoza.

BTW, that game winning TD throw where Mendoza stood in there and got the throw off while getting nailed by 2 PSU defenders was noteworthy.

The catch was still more amazing.

  9. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    Other Commanders news:

    • QB Jayden Daniels (elbow) won’t travel with the team for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins in Madrid, head coach Dan Quinn announced.
    • WR Terry McLaurin (quad) will travel to Madrid, but won’t play in Week 11, per Quinn.
    • CB Trey Amos fractured his fibula in Sunday’s loss to the Lions and will be out a while, per Quinn.
  10. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

LB Chop Robinson has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to make his return this Sunday against the Commanders in Madrid following a one-game absence, head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters.

Dolphins are all clear now to hire Daboll.

  17. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Rock, I just watched a best of Benny Hill show a week ago; love that show. I would love to see a compilation of that rookie’s plays to the music 😂

  18. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we have 37 players signed for 2026, add in rookies + UDFAs, that gives us about 44 (removes Tyreek)

I don’t see a blow it up scenario, we’re already pretty bare as far as vet old players

Think I was wrong about next year being a throw away year

We may not make 2026 playoffs, but don’t think its a gimme we’ll be in the hunt for top drafting pick, kinda depends on what coaches stick around

2025 now seems more like the rebuild, we got younger and rid ourselves of Grier

2026, with a new HC and GM we could be middle of the pack, and if we catch some breaks have an outside shot at playoffs

Certainly before the season is over MM will have everyone hoping he goes sooner than later, after another blowout loss

  19. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I don’t understand this love for Weaver. What has he done? Why do we think he might be a good HC? I feel like I’m missing something.

      “um…..um….if we win….um…it’s because….um….we won the game….um….um”

  20. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Juju Brents story is really weird to me

a 2nd round pick in 2023 who started 8 games that season

misses the 2024 season on IR

cut less than a year later

    he looked good yesterday

    I don’t get it

between Dulcich and Brents, seems like a lot of teams are giving up and day 2 picks kind of early

we waited two years to cut cam smith and he is still a free agent

  21. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Randy,

How many Defensive starters did we return from last season, when Anthony Weaver became our DC?

I count Sieler, Brooks, and Chop. And remember, Chubb missed all of last season and we lost Darth Kader this season before the season even began. Jaelan Phillips missed most of last season and we of course traded him last week.

Our Defense continues to get better each and every week with essentially a new roster on Defense. Personally, I believe that speaks very positively for Weaver… plus, we had a top-10 Defense last season.

HAPPY 250th B-Day to our Marine Corps! Salute!

  23. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Forgive me for not being certain, but you served in the Marine Corps, did you not?

  24. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Jaelan Phillips is #50 for the Eagles.

  25. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

IDK what we should do with Weaver, bet his players would give their all for him, he seems to be a leader

Have no idea what kind of HC he’ll be, seems like a Dan Campbell type

With a good GM he could be a good HC

I know for certain he won’t call plays on O😜

  26. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

How about Capri McD out there trolling the Jills fan after the game? Yes it’s unprofessional but I personally think it’s hilarious.

  27. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    @schadjoe

Mike McDaniel says he’ll have more of a firm answer on Wednesday regarding if Austin Jackson, James Daniels or anyone else injured will practice this week. “There is a chance,” McDaniel said.

  28. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Remaining schedule

    Washington @ Madrid, Spain

    Saints @ home

    @ Stej

    @ Stealers*

    Bengals @ home

    Bucs @ home

    @ Patsies*

IF we get Austin Jackson and James Daniels back (and maintain a ‘6th O-Lineman’, as it’s been working), what are the chances we run the table?

I still say slim to none, but it could potentially be done… so long as we don’t suffer more key injuries.

Yesterday’s win against the Bills changes much, but have no fear: IF we make the playoffs as a Wildcard, we will be one-and-done… and lose out on a prime Draft pick. That would be SO Dolphins.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Keep in mind… if the Patsies* continue with their renewed dominance, they may even rest their starters against us on the last week of the season.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

        Mike E,

I’m not trying to be cute with what I’ve stated above, but there’s a potential chance that we keep Capri McD and Tua as our starter next season.

For whatever it may be worth, I was hoping to lose out…

  29. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Wasn’t Weaver being floated as an emerging HC candidate prior to us hiring him? I’m pretty sure there was even concern he’d be only be here for only one and done. I think it likely we’d consider him for the position.

Not that it matters IMO. I think Ross already decided to keep McD next year when he didn’t fire him along with Grier.

  30. ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

    Breaking news:

Stephen M. Ross announces his intention to quit Miami. The 2026 season will see the Dolphins alternate home games between the Arctic circle and Antarctica.

Ross added ‘it’s the obvious next step for a bipolar team to play at both poles. Additionally, it gives our team the chance to prove it can win in the cold and maybe HC Capri McD will then drop the lame ‘I wish it were colder t-shirt’.

It is expected than during the next draft, new interim/maybe permanent GM Kelly will be on the lookout to add more penguins. This move could also tempt Abe’killer wale’ Ogunleye out of retirement. The Dolphin’s playoff drought is expected to be extended even further. A stadium share with the newly named Chicago Polar Bears has not been ruled out with fixtures taking place simultaneously at both poles as the NFL looks to continue it’s global march.

  31. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Krishna – You would think that’s actually good news, unless they do something far more stupid and bring back McD and Tua next season for one more chance. I know Tua almost certainly will be on the roster, but realizing he’s not the answer and bring him back because he’s getting paid big $$$ is fine with me.

  32. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Thank You to all who have served and still serve!

  33. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Is it time to jump back on the bandwagon?

It is not unrealistic for Miami to run the table to end the season, given its very young nucleus of players who have started to play well. Then, the question I ask is, why did we fire Chris Grier? The players he drafted this year, 15 of the 47 players who played in the Dolphins’ upset win over the Buffalo Bills Sunday, were 3rd-year players or younger, and 7 of the 8 2025 draft picks played in the game.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Jeez! Stop flip-flopping will ya! Hold true to what you feel for a little while. One win doesn’t change a thing!

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

You mean ME saying it doesn’t bother you MikeE? LOL

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

What you call flip-flopping it’s just a change of mind for me after Sunday’s Beat down of the Patriots who I consider to be our most toughest opponent on our remaining schedule there’s a possibility that this team could win out.

If that happens, who can argue against keeping everything in place?

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

there’s also just as much a possibility we lose out

Our last 2 wins were against unsuspecting teams with bad run Ds, I give MM props for how he called that game, but let’s see what other types of game plans he can come up with against teams that shut our running game down

Wit Tua at QB MM has a huge handicap to overcome

The 3 games we won we got off to big leads, what happens when everything doesn’t go our way, like Balt and Clev games?

Do we really have enough to overcome it? Maybe 1 game but not multiple games

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Beat Down Of The Bills it should have said!

  34. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Thank you for your service guys! Happy Veterans Day!

  35. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – So if we go to Madrid and spanked by the Commanders w/o Jayden Daniels, are you going to jump right back off? It’s silly! Stick with a plan, or don’t I guess, but you’re just flip-flopping. I see the overall picture of this team and it’s not good, and changes need to be made.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’ll go one step further. Say we do somehow win 8 games this season, we won 8 last season, and we won 8 this season. I don’t care how we got there, whether we started off winning and then lost, or if we started out like shit and then got hot and won, we still only won 8 games and that’s not good enough for a QB in his 6th season with very good offensive players. Clean it all OUT!

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Well that depends on if you take injuries to the offensive line into account as he has been without two key starters for weeks and that needs to be considered.

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

I am a fan first, and I want this team to win, and after giving it some thought, I have come to the conclusion that the Dolphins are in a youth transitional period that seems to be working as the young players are stepping up to the plate.

If they continue to win, “Which is a great possibility considering how they played this past Sunday then I am willing to support the team.

You can continue to be a non-supporter all you want!

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

A “young transitional period.” And that’s why you want Grier after growing up for 20 yrs…yikes.

        Tear it the fuck down!!!

Let new blood have free rein

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rock – when you say it your just busting balls, when Markey says it, he so desperately wants to believe it

  37. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Several young Miami Dolphins players have been stepping up during the 2025 season, particularly the recent draft classes. Key standouts include:

    Defensive Players

    • Kenneth Grant (DT): Miami’s first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft has been a dominant force in training camp, especially once full pads were introduced. He has impressed coaches and teammates with his rare power, athleticism, and ability to disrupt both run defense and pass rush, performing exactly as the Dolphins envisioned when drafting him.
    • Jordan Phillips (DT): A fifth-round selection in the 2025 draft, Phillips has been a major surprise and a potential “steal”. His strength and wrestling background provide excellent leverage, and he has been noted for making impactful, physical plays in preseason games and practices.
    • Chop Robinson (OLB/EDGE): A 2024 first-round pick, Robinson built on a strong rookie season in 2024 (six sacks) and was consistently delivering strong performances during the 2025 summer camp. His continued development makes the edge rusher position a significant strength for the team.
    • Jason Marshall Jr. (CB): The Miami native and fifth-round pick has adapted quickly to playing nickel cornerback, a position he hadn’t played in college. His emergence in the slot was strong enough that it made a veteran expendable, and he is expected to play a significant role in the secondary.

    Offensive Players

    • De’Von Achane (RB): While already a known star, the third-year running back (a 2023 pick) continues to be a dynamic force and was included on Pro Football Focus’s top 25 players under 25 list. He is at the top of the depth chart and a vital part of the offense.
    • Patrick Paul (OT): The 2024 draft pick has consistently performed well in training camp and is a projected starter on the offensive line.
    • Malik Washington (WR): A 2024 sixth-round pick, Washington has shown enough promise in his first two camps to push for a significant role in the wide receiver rotation.
    • Jaylen Wright (RB): A fourth-round pick from the 2024 draft, Wright has a clearer path to the No. 2 running back spot and is a strong breakout candidate for the 2025 season, with the potential to be a solid contributor.
    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Very nice AI synopsis, but like SO MUCH that you get from AI it is flawed.

Jaylen Wright’s very strong break out candidate has failed to breakout through 10 games.

Drafting rotational players like Washington is not an accomplishment.

Jason Marshall’s “Emergence” DID NOT make a veteran expendable. The Vet was cut without consideration for what we would have left.

Kenneth Grant’s strong training camp HAS NOT shown up through 10 games. He one among the WORST ratted DL in the league by PFF.

Jordan Phillips has been pressed into service because of a dearth of talent on the D line and has PLAYED LIKE A 5th ROUND PICK ROOKIE

Listing 8 questionable starters out of 53 is very weak sauce man.

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

These young players of late have been stepping up and improving and that’s why the dolphins defense is playing much better and on offense these other young players are contributing more now that they’re being called upon

I look forward to how the season ends and I hope for the best for our young nucleus

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Oh, and on Jaylen Wright they used a 2025 3rd round pick to move up in the 2024 draft to take him and then proceeded to NOT USE or DEVELOP him through a season and a half!

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

These evaluations seem to be toward the end of preseason and not reflecting how they have played during the regular season.

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Yes, that is true, but these last two wins that Miami beat two good teams, the Falcons and Bills, it seems these young players are finally starting to catch on.

  38. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I like that we claimed JuJu Brents off waivers and not as a free agent. That means we picked up his rookie contract and still have him under contract next season which is the final year of his contract.

  39. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

But the grocery shopper is gone! The cupboards are are still bare, but at least someone else will be buying the groceries.

    Now let’s look at coaching:

Every year in the MM era we have started the season without knowing the starting 5 Oline. Did Michael Deiter (3rd), Solomon Kindley (4th), Robert Hunt (2nd), Larnel Coleman (7th), Liam Eichenberg (2nd+3rd), Ryan Hayes (7th) Patrick Paul (2nd) or Jonah Savaiinaea (2nd+3rd) wind up developing? I’d say yes for Hunt who “earned his right to leave the team” and Paul who is doing well in his 2nd season are the ONLY two that the coaching staff developed.

Let’s look at all the other positions and draft picks…

Mohamed Kamara? Patrick McMorris? Cam Smith, Channing Tindal? Erik Ezukanma? Nah Igbinoghene? Curtis Weaver?

I left a ton of the picks from 2020 through today off the list because what can one expect out of 20 of the last 40 picks being 5th round or later.

  40. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Jonah is the only Dolphins player to play 100% of snaps so far this season. Just wow, our OL depth really sucks then.

  41. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I’ve gotten pretty good at rooting for this team to win even though I think they suck. That’s not hard for me. Years of practice

I really do fear they run it back with MM and Tua next year. Reason being is they will be returning many starters from this team, about 9 of 11 offensive starters and about 7 of 11 defensive starters.

On O, the entire original starting OL in PP, Jonah, Brewer, Daniels and Jackson are all returning. Only other OL under contract next year is backup center Meyer right now. Then you have Tua, Waddle, both Washington’s, NWI and all the RB’s all under contract. Only pieces missing are at TE.

On D, we have Seiler, Grant, Phillips, Chubb (for now), Chop, Brooks, Dodson and MFFF along with Biggers, Trader, Colbert, Brents, Marshall, Duck and Matre all under contract.

  43. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I would try to give Dulcich an extension right now or someone else will pay him more if he hits the market.

I think any future GM or HC and OC would want him.

We had 2 good games, but are you going to just completely ignore the Baltimore game, where we looked like we didn’t belong on the field with the Ravens

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we were moving the ball on Baltimore and slowing them down, then the Tahj fumble came

Tua and the boys try to do too much, when they get behind, instead of just doing there job

This team as is has sucked playing from behind, that’s why MM takes the ball first

Its just something to build on, compared to a total train wreck early in the season

Mike, you seem to wanna try to compete in 2026, if we blow it up, that’s not happening, to keep us from blowing it up we need to finish the season with 3 more wins

  45. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Right before the Falcons game, we got wrecked by the Cleveland Browns 31-6.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Steve – No compete, but I want to build a competitive team. That’s different. I doubt very much we’ll be a contending team in ’26, but we need to draft well and develop those players in addition to the ones we have already on the roster.

  47. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

if we compete in 2026 it needs to be a bonus, the GM can’t Grier it thinking we’re 1 player away

  48. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

In my new mock draft I kept in mind what we are returning next year. Who we have to move on from in mainly Tyreek, Chubb and possibly MFFF to make cap space.

I also considered resigning 2 of Dulcich, Julian Hill or Rucci.

Then futures contracts to, at least, Edge McClendon, WR Wease, WR Henning, CB Ethan Robinson and DT Alex Huntley.

I don’t think this team will be a legitimate SB contender for years…if they get there. I do think you can turn a team into a competitive team faster, but they’re not the same. That’s what we just tried to do. It didn’t work. The road to building a SB contending organization….and not just one that is competitive…is much harder. 10-7 records are competitive teams. So what?

It would appear that this team and the whole organization is a mess. There seems to be a lack of real leadership throughout the organization. That’s not something you change, if you can, overnight. It’ll be interesting to see the choices that are made and the direction taken.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

get a QB, HC and a competent GM and anything can happen, if you don’t you end up with pretenders

getting the QB and him actually playing like a franchise QB is going to take some time

Ewers isn’t that guy, neither is Tua

An article I read said, Tua finally realized things go from bad to worse, when trailing and he tries to do too much

After a lobotomy he may be a serviceable QB, that can win with the right people around him, but not with his salary

If he realizes he’s not a franchise QB, and is paid that way he can QB a team deep into the playoffs

He’s nothing close to that today, but some day he could be. A lot would have to change quickly for that to happen as a Fin. His days are numbered in Miami

According to an analysis of 53-man rosters the Miami Dolphins are tied for the nith-youngest team in the NFL. The team’s roster has an average age of 26.00 years.

With most of the 1st round QBs most likely going back to school, I would have no problem trading down to the end of the 1st round or beginning of 2nd round. Maybe pick up a 2nd this year and another high pick to go after a QB next year. I think the 2nd and 3rd rounds are again the best value rounds in 2026. Just give us a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks to keep building this team.

  62. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Meat and Potatoes kind of draft.

Rd 1(14) Sonny Styles-LB, Ohio State

    Rd 3(71) Oscar Delp-TE, Georgia

    Rd 3(77) Cashius Howell-EDGE, Texas A&M

    Rd 3(95) D’Angelo Ponds-CB, Indiana

    Rd 4(108) A.J. Harris-CB, Penn State

With Styles being a former safety and Haulcy being a ball-hawk, the first 2 picks would strengthen the middle of the defense and give our DC a lot of flexibility with moving guys around. The Ponds pick in the 3rd round also has great flexibility playing inside or outside at the CB position. While, Bisontis would help to sure up the left side of the OL for at least the next 4 or 5 years. Bisontis, I believe can play right away and be successful, unlike last’s year 2nd pick. Plus, Bisontis doesn’t cost 2 picks in my draft. As for Jonah “2 picks”, he would need to move to the right side or be a backup for both guard positions.

Interesting tidbits I’m finding doing indy research on an otherwise boring Tuesday evening…

    — We’re currently trending toward 357 points FOR by the end of this season… which is a mere 12 points more than we had last season (lowest of Coach Capri McD’s tenure here in Miami: 345 in ’24).

    — Every odd season Tua has played (’21, ’23, ’25), he’s thrown for double-digit INTs. Every even season Tua has played, he’s kept his INTs under 9.

    — De’Von Achane leads all RBs in career receiving TDs (13) from his draft class, which includes Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs (7 each). Achane’s 13 career receiving TDs matches Puka Nacua’s 13 career receiving TDs.

    — 10 games down, and only 2 INTs on the season for our Phins (Minkah and Melifonwu with 1 each). Currently, Tua’s 13 INTs on the season has us at -11 net INTs. That’s quite possibly a Dolphins record… for the bad.

    — Big Jonah is still the worst OG in the NFL, per PFF. His PATHETIC pass-blocking grade is a 7.8 on the season. Now one needn’t be a rocket surgeon to realize that on a scale from 0-100, 7.8 is kind of… FUGLY. Imagine you’re back in school, and you got an 8% on your test. You didn’t get an A, you didn’t get a B, nor a C, or a D, or and E or F. You got an 8% out of 100. That’s like a Y on the alphabet scale… as in “Y on Earth did General Grief trade a 3rd rounder to secure you in the 2nd round?”.

That’s all I’ve got. And Happy Veterans Day to each and every one of you who has served!

So they will either reassess his position next season or hope he adjusts and plays better as the season moves on.

Jonah played college football at the University of Arizona from 2022-2024, where he was a three-year starter at various offensive line positions (right tackle, right guard, left tackle)

  78. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Ewers is a joke! Tua is the best QB we have and is being paid very well to do his job. He also was just given an extension, so there is NO REASON to start Ewrs, who is not better than Zach Wilson.

IMO, Grier wasn’t all bad, but he certainly wasn’t good enough. His biggest problem was that he couldn’t mesh talent with the system in place in any given year, and that he squandered major resources to get the guy he really wanted. Plus too many developmental/project players who didn’t pan out on time and/or get injured all the time.

He should have allowed the Draft to come to him instead of gambling so much. He also had the misfortune of so many different OCs and DCs over the years to cater to.
