Dolphins fans everywhere are watching the games and hoping for losses for teams that are currently ahead of us in the playoff standings. I think that’s fine, if you’re 7 years old and don’t really know anything about football, our Dolphins team, our Dolphins Head Coach, and our Dolphins QB. On the other hand, if you’re acutely aware of all those things, well, I either admire your resolve or just think you’re crazy, or both. I don’t care how many games in a row we win, I don’t see this team as a playoff contender at all. I see the “In the Hunt” graphics for the playoffs, we’re at the bottom there at 4-7, but we do have a favorable schedule. It continues this weekend with our game at 1PM at home at Hard Rock against the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are actually worse than our Dolphins. Tyler Shough is the QB and veteran RB Alvin Kamara will be OUT so RB Devin Neal will be getting the start.
We’ll probably be running the De’Von Achane Show once again, until someone absolutely shuts it down, or until Achane finally breaks. If I asked you which player on the team has the most receptions, you might think Jaylen Waddle right? Of course not, we’re the Achanes, not the Dolphins. Achane has 54 receptions, which is 5 more than WR Jaylen Waddle and then 21 more than the next closest receiver, WR Malik Washington who has 33. We’re so ridiculously reliant on Achane, who I firmly believe is way important than QB Tua Tagovailoa. Achane is the cog that keeps offense going. Anyone can throw screens and 5-10 yard passes to Achane, and the truth is, the Achanes are only scoring 20 points per game, so any notion that this team needs Mike McDaniel and Tua together because they’re so successful together, I have to wonder what success even means. Right now we’re 4-7, and our offensive genius is managing only 20 points per game, good for 24th in the league. For some contrast, DC Anthony Weaver with his bad of unheralded defenders and rookies are now 21st in the NFL in points allowed. Who’s the genius?
Things I’d love to see this weekend would be giving more opportunities to both running backs Ollie Gordon and Jaylen Wright. They say time is money, and I say draft capital is money too. We used a 2024 4th RD pick (#120) as well as trading a 2025 3rd RD pick (#79) to draft him. If we have to watch Tua every week most likely this season and next, shouldn’t we try to see what we have in Wright because of the draft capital we gave up for him? I’d like to see the offense get a little more well rounded, using more than just De’Von Achane. I’m guessing Mike McDaniel doesn’t care if Achane is worn down to nubs as long as he gets to keep his job, so we can probably guess that it will remain the “Achane Show” until he’s unavailable.
It would also be nice to see our young players like LG Jonah Savaiinaea and DL Kenneth Grant and Zeek Biggers continue to develop and give us some hope for the future. As per usghe, I’ll make my weekly plea to see QB Quinn Ewers get some playing time, but realistically, he needs practice reps with the starters and and that will only occur when we either lose one more game which will pretty much seal us out of “In the Hunt” status. The other option of course is if QB Tua Tagovailoa gets injured which is extremely unlikely, not because he’s an iron man, but because he plays like a guy scared to get hurt and doesn’t put himself in harms way, ever. That’s fine when you’re up 3 TD’s but if you need plays, you know you can count on him not to make them to stay safe. Maybe we can use our TE’s and WR’s a little more too, let Waddle have a big game, and feed Malik Washington and Maybe even get Nick Westbrook-Ikhine some chances. It’s looking less likely that TE Darren Waller will play this weekend but very likely that he’ll be back next weekend. The Dolphins should be OK against the toothless Saints who have no offense with or without RB Alvin Kamara, scoring only 15 PPG, 31st in the NFL. They make our offense look like a juggernaut!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Vegas has the Dolphins as opening favorites.
Dolphins vs. Jets odds in Week 14
Point spread: Dolphins -2.5 (-110) | Jets +2.5 (-110)
Moneyline: Dolphins -148 | Jets +124
Total: 42.5
I’m waiting on a more accurate weather report before making any predictions. Last night had partly cloudy and 40 degrees next Sunday, while the day before had rain/snow mix and 36 degrees.
The last I heard was that Miami had a 1% chance of making the playoffs. …..so what I’m saying is that there is a chance. lol
No matter what the state of this team is there is only one option this week: Slap the shit out of the yets. That is all.
Bringing this forward past the page turn…

Any of you guys ever read Michelle West? I just ordered book 1 of the “Sun Sword” series, “The Broken Crown”
I’ve never read anything from her, but some dude on Youtube listed the series as in his top 10 of epic fantasy and the other authors he listed fall in line with my taste.
Have any of you read it? I hope it’s good.

Never heard of it. Let me know what you think once you’ve read it; I’ll put it on my list.
That was a fugly game with a crazy 4th quarter. But hey they won.
Fans are just fucking crazy. I guess that’s why we call them fanatics?
The fans in the stadium were chanting to fire Mike Tomlin yesterday.
The dude has never had a losing season. NEVER He is 197-122-2 in his career. (189-112-2 regular season)
I guess not winning the big game yet is enough? Still seems crazy to me.
Or I should re-ask, not winning the SB since 2008…
Randy – I hear ya on Chop. I haven’t really heard any hype this season, except for the early hype that he was going to have a breakout season. He’s invisible otherwise. Chubb is doing average work at best right now, Chop is doing nothing
Thanks for the response Kong! I’ll let you know what I think after I’ve read it.
👍👍
Who is the most overrated DE/LB on the Dolphins? Bradley Chubb
———–
MikeE., unfortunately Chubb is our best DE/OLB but your question is who is the most overrated. At a cap hit of 31m a year over the next 2 years, I would say he is the most overrated by that.
Chubb has played very close to twice the snaps than Chop or Judon. If Chop had played the same amount of snaps as Chubb, you could say he would have around 16 tackles and 5 sacks as compared to Chubb at 18/6.
That said, Chubb is more disruptive. You know he is in there. Chop, not so much unless he makes a play. Chop is on a rookie contract for the next 2 years. Chubb is overpaid for the next 2 years.
Easy call for me. You trade Chubb in the offseason but that will make edge the biggest need over CB then TE (based on current 2026 roster).
With or without Chubb, Edge is a big need. I’m not going to rank needs, but it’s as high as any other position already. OL better be too, because right now only a few of our linemen are not FAs and that includes Jonah “2 picks”.
Rock,
I had never heard of that writer or her books. I looked her up. Just FYI, there were recommendations about what order in which to read her different series to make the most sense of them.
I just looked her up too. She’s been writing fantasy prolifically for more than 30 years and appears to be well reviewed. I’m surprised none of us have heard of her.
Yes, indeed… EDGE is a huge need in the ’26 Draft for us. And as Rich stated, I’m not going to rank the order of needs.
BPA for needs in ’26… and we have plenty of needs.
I wouldn’t mind bringing Chubb back for ’26, but he’s likely gone due to his excessive contract $$$ (totally understandable and I get trying to trade him. Chop has somehow regressed, Jaelan and his multitude of injuries is gone, and Judon won’t be back with us next season.
It’s crazy how many of us thought our pass-rush was going to be a strength of our team this season, only to be let down once again.
For whatever it’s worth, I’m not blaming Anthony Weaver for this matter: we were ‘paper tigers’ at the EDGE position and even I was fooled.
I’d have no problem taking edge rusher in the draft. A couple would be fine. I’m always up for taking LOS guys. 👍
I wouldn’t mind returning to a base 4-3 Defense either.
And I’m sure Anthony Weaver could make it happen.
M13,
It’s like zone versus man blocking. 4-3 or 3-4. You can make whatever you decide to do work. In today’s NFL, the trend is to more coverage guys. 3-4/4-3 is becoming more fuzzy.
It’s still about talent. Schemes only work when you have guys with talent. We need better talent.
Exactly. We need much better talent.

———–
Understand that I took this all as one thought: 2 EDGE rushers as LOS guys. That equals a 4-3 D to me.
More specifically, two DEs, not OLBs.
And I’m very good with that.
Not a good game to assess our IDL, against the lowly Saints… and especially when they were without Alvin Kamara.
Nevertheless, I really do appreciate Ryder’s breakdowns.
I did like seeing Biggers in there more and making some plays.
Conversely (here I go again!), perhaps it’s wiser to have more of a 3-4 system with 4 LBs. Why? These new QBs and the NFL under Goodell are spread-Offense happy.
With an additional LB who may be in coverage, it makes it that much more difficult for today’s QB to read the coverage… at least at face value.
I’m talking more about a ‘hybrid’ scheme on Defense that disguises intent… not so much traditional and old school 4-3 or 3-4.
So long as we have 2 EDGE players who are outstanding, I guess it doesn’t matter what scheme one uses or the position they natty play.
I’ve always appreciated the JT/Ogunleye tandem at DE, much like Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis out of the 4-3.
More than one way to skin a cat these days other than outright tradition.
I would draft Reuben Bain in a second if he was available but I’m thinking k he’s a top 5 pick
I’m expecting us to finish 9-8 or 8-9 or maybe even 10-7
but we have a slim shot at making the playoffs. We are probably drafting between 12-18
I think we are at 12 right now
I don’t think it’s crazy to expect us to win 2 – 4 of the next 5
if we are drafting in the teens – I’m taking a long look at Kenyon Sadiq
or Francis Mauigoa to play OG
I guess there is a slight chance that some one like Caleb Downs falls to us just bc of positional value
All 3 sound good to me.
To touch on the Edge guys again, Anthony Smith is one of those bigger DE like pass rushers from Minnesota. I think he’s something like in the 6’6″ 275 range.
Going into the season Caleb Downs was my favorite prospect, along with Anthony Hill Jr from Texas.
Sonny Styles is another one who I really like. All 3 of these guys are versatile.
Styles- play ILB, OLB, pass rush, and was a Safety before moving to LB.
Downs plays everywhere except IDL. LOL Safety, corner, pass rush…
Hill plays ILB, OLB, pass rusher…
Weaver would love any of these 3 guys no doubt.
Downs and Hill as a combo would make our defense pretty amazing playing alongside Brooks, Fitzpatrick and some of the other talent we have on defense
I think our young DL is coming along
Downs is my favorite player in the draft for us as well, in spite of him being a buckeye .
I hear ya. I hate Ohio St, but Downs, Styles, and Reese are awesome.
Jeremiah Smith as well
Well, Smith and Tate are the best WR duo in college football. It’s unbelievable how stacked Ohio St is and every year too.
Yes, my dream draft is Downs, Hill, and then Bisontis to play LG next to Paul.
I don’t think Downs falls that far. If we keep winning games, will be picking somewhere around 15 to 18.
True, the only way my dream draft happens is by losing out, but I can’t worry about that. I’m just preparing to pick in the teens again.
Just curious – You guys are done with Jonah?
Why would they? He is a rookie!!!!
If I was running the show, I would draft a real LG and move Jonah “2 picks” to RG or he can ride the pine. The choice would be up to him.
That is the correct way to deal with him: have him compete for the RG spot next year.
Agreed. Wherever he is playing next year, he should have to compete for his job. To say that he has been a complete and utter failure is an understatement. He is the worst starting guard in the entire NFL. It literally doesn’t get any worse than that.
no
if anything I’m skeptical about Daniels who played a few snaps
not Johan
I don’t write off rookies
I really hope Jonah can compete for a starting job by next season. Or, maybe this is Grier’s version of my old cat Snowball, when I would feed him at night, my parents told me if he doesn’t like his food, you can give him one or two more different cans of food, but if he doesn’t like those, that’s it. He would stand outside my bedroom and meow relentlessly if I didn’t change it again because he didn’t like it. I would finally get mad and chase him away. The next morning, there would be a nice turd outside my door. Jonah could be that turd that Grier left for us outside our bedroom door!
It’s way to early to give up on him!
I think Rueben Bain is so overrated. He is not worth even top 15, IMO. He had just 4.5 sacks this year which was barely an improvement from his lackluster 3.5 sacks in 2024. How is this guy the top rated edge? I don’t get it.
Happy Birthday Jordi!!
I thought it was tomorrow? Tomorrow is my daughter’s bday and I thought they were the same day. Oops!
Happy Birthday 🐷!!
Thanks Mike and Herd. I don’t really celebrate birthdays anymore…lol
I’ve never been a fan of Jonah, but it’s too early. Unfortunately all he’s really done is verify the concerns, but I still think he needs more time and professional coaching before I say it’s over, Johnny. I hope he can tap into the warrior soul of his Samoan ancestry and not the quiet giant.
^
No way should they be done with 2picks Jonah. He is a rookie. A terribly struggling rookie, but still a rookie. There is a chance he can develop into a good player. He just needs to be challenged. Not just given the job because there is no one else healthy!
Happy Birthday you old hog you!
Happy Pig Farts to you Piggy!

Jackson Dart is going to have a very short NFL career if he doesn’t learn how to play smarter football
My friends were saying the same thing last night. Regardless, my heart YEARNS for a QB like that.
I love his moxie, but he’s got to make better decisions when running the football. He got absolutely leveled in his first came back from a concussion, and could’ve very easily gotten another one there.
The extra 2-3 yards he got was not worth the hit he took
He’s the type I want also or like a Drake May.
That’s why I like Sawyer Robertson or Brendan Sorsby on day 2 or 3.
Maye runs smart though, like Mahomes
So what is the consensus on Rasul Douglas? Should we try and extend him for a couple of years? (he is 31 this season)
The price should be right. If they brought him and Jack Jones back, that would lessen the need at CB. If that happened, I would go after D’Angelo Ponds in the 2nd or 3rd to be a lock down NB/slot defender who could backup on the boundary.
Jones and Douglas on the Boundary with JuJu Brents and Marshall as backups and Ponds at NB/slot.
Ponds also has elite speed, 4.35. He’s only 5’9, 170 or else he would be a 1st rounder. He’s got a 99% grade in coverage, 96% in tackling and 87% in run defense. QB rating when targeted is 44.4.
Brent Grimes mold
Maybe QBs just need to get tougher. It’s football.
Sorsby is that guy.
BBM Post Week 13 Mock Draft (2 trade downs)
19. David Bailey EDGE Texas Tech
44. A.J. Haulcy S LSU
76. Brendan Sorsby QB Cincinnati
78. D’Angelo Ponds CB Indiana
82. Anthony Smith EDGE Minnesota
84. Caleb Tiernan OT Northwestern
92. Joe Royer TE Cincinnati
112. Keylan Rutledge OG Georgia Tech
119. Aiden Fisher ILB Indiana
152. Domani Jackson CB Alabama
154. Cooper Barkate WR Duke
226. Aaron Graves DT Iowa
Jonah isn’t tapping into his Samoan ancestry, he’s tapping into his inner Tua
LOL and sadly but true. Maybe he snaps out of it when Tua is gone or if we draft another Polynesian dog like Spencer Fano, Francis Mauigoa or Vega Ioane to show him how to be a warrior.
It’s my Birthday Today. Wish me a happy one! 🙂
Happy Birthday Markey!!!
🎂 🥳
happy birthday!
Happy Birthday MarkeyH!
64 years old today! 🙂
I thought Sorsby was a senior but he’s a red shirt junior with another year of eligibility. He has started his last 3 seasons so he might enter the draft unless he gets offered a bunch of NIL money.
In his college career he has passed for 7,208 yards, 60 TD’s and 18 INT’s (27 TD/5 INT this season). He’s big at 6’3, 235 pounds and elusive with good running skills. He has 1305 yards with 22 TD’s rushing.
He needs to get better with his footwork, step into throws and that will greatly improve his accuracy which isn’t bad. His accuracy is only off a bit because he seems to throw off balance a lot, throwing with all arm.
I am going to stop short of complimenting MM
but I do think the makeover the Dolphins have done to more of a run first team is worthy of praise
In order for it to be more effective – I think Tua has to accept his role as a Daniel Jones type. That interception in the end zone last Sunday was pitiful
The offense has changed. Tua needs to stop gambling. He also just doesn’t seem to have the accuracy he used to have. He’s a game manager now. Accept it.

LMAO @ the cat analogy!!! 😆 LOVE IT!!! 😀
But on the serious tip, Big Jonah is just a rook. Once he polishes up his technique and cleans up his miscues, it’s possible he becomes a decent player in this league.
One can never judge a player solely based on their rookie season… especially when Big Jonah never played LG before.
Big Jonah can’t possible get any worse than he is right now… RIGHT? At least I hope not! Seems he can only get better… but maybe never as good as his draft status would dictate.
HAPPY B-DAYS to the Pigster and Markeyh!
Have a great day, both of y’all!

———-
That makes two of us, BBM. I’m not seeing what so many others are seeing, either.
I haven’t watched much of Bain, but he strikes me as a guy who is more of an Ed Oliver type than an edge rusher. The kid is powerful.
Agreed that Bain is powerful, but he’s too light to be an Ed Oliver-type.
And I also agree with ya, Randy, that Bain doesn’t seem to fit the mold of an EDGE at the pro level.
Don’t understand why he’s projected to go #1 overall by so many.
Maybe some feel as though he’s the next Myles Garrett? Sorry, I don’t see it.
I’ve heard rumblings and rumors over the last 2 weeks that there is a certain NFL HC who feels under appreciated, taken advantage of, and may be willing to part ways with his team. These rumblings and rumors don’t name who that HC may be, but many believe it’s Mike Tomlin.
For whatever it may be worth, I’d be VERY willing to consider hiring him as our next HC if that fracture happens with the Stealers*. And should that come to fruition, I hope he walks away and that we wouldn’t have to trade draft picks to acquire him.
M13,
I gotta be honest with you, I have no idea how big either of them are, but I thought they were both about 270-280. Bain looks like he’s gonna get bigger when he grows into his man body.
Thank all of you who wished me a happy Birthday, and also happy birthday to you too, Piggy! I agree with you that I am too old to celebrate them now, but I appreciate the well-wishes!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Markey!
Happy Birthday Markey! 🎁🎂🎉
You’re never too old to celebrate- it just hurts more the next day!
Thank You!
Ed Oliver is more compact and maybe close to 290, I think.
The thing for me with Bain is with his 3.5 sacks in 2024 and 4.5 sacks in 2025 is meh. He should have dominated the ACC but he did not.
I would take his teammate later, Akheem Mesidor, who outplayed Bain with 7 sacks and 4 FF. Mesidor is 6’3, 280 and rated to go anywhere from 3rd to 5th round between 7 different draft sites.
I would rather have David Bailey than Bain and Anthony Smith over Mesidor.
I’ll second that…
Happy belated birthday Piggy!
Happy birthday Markey!
I only celebrate the anniversary of my 21st birthday…..I’ve had alot of anniversaries!
Thanks ER
🐖💨
I really like Bain
I think he’s one of the best players in the draft
for me he’s prototypical 4-3 DE size
happy belated birthday Piggy!
I just read that Jackson’s toe injury that kept him out until this lasts week requires surgery after the season. He’s playing through it now. That sucks. Yeah, injuries happen, but this kid seems to have awful luck.
Do any of you guys pay for PFF premium? I am interested to see where the Dolphins rank in this list.
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-offensive-line-rankings-week-14-2025/
Pretty sure M does
I was watching some film breakdowns of our Dline last night on Youtube (I can’t find them now to link them because I was watching on my TV app which is wonkey) but it looks like we may be set for years with Biggers and Phillips really out-performing their draft slots. Both have been out-performing Grant who, while not a bad player is not living up to his first round slot. Grant has definitely looked worse than the 7th round pick. Regardless, he sill shows potential. We may wind up having one of the best D lines in the league in a few years of seasoning.
It is looking good for the future there. I have been looking at late round DT’s to add to the mix. I have come up with Aaron Graves-Iowa, Gracen Halton-Oklahoma, Zane Durant-PSU, Rayshaun Benny-Michigan and Lee Hunter-Texas Tech so far. All seniors, just not sure which one will be there in the 7th round since we don’t have a 6th round pick.
There are still Dolphins fans out there that want to build around Tua. It’s just shocking to me. One in particular I have been having a back and forth discussion on X, he seems of sane mind, thinks Tua can turn it around. I can’t get rid of him soon enough. Big contrast in ideas.
Need to build a team regardless who the damn QB is.
No doubt about it, but I don’t like the gray area of keeping MM because are we drafting for what he wants and then he’s gone in ’27? I just feel like we’ve heard a trillion excuses over the last two and a half decades about roster construction, different needs for different coaches. If they’re not sure about Mike, why waste time and a whole draft class tailored for what Mike wants?
100%, he MM needs to go. Though, I think many of the offense players we have can operate in a different scheme.
Tua is done, his hips don’t get the torque they used to, at least according to Omar (I’ve heard others say it too)
My money is on Tua retiring in 26 or 27
Ya boy Darius Slay is a free agent…
Brian Miller says we need to sign him, what a putz
Yiu don’t go after aging vets, at this stage, unless they come cheap
While watching the Youtube cut ups last night on Phillips and Biggers, Grant really stood out, not in a good way. I kept saying wow, nice play (by Phillips or Biggers) and then would ask myself who is that #90 showing no effort? Like he plays patty cake. It shows that Biggers and Phillips REALLY WANT IT. Their effort is off the chart compared to Grant. Biggers has been getting more and more snaps this season, he maxed out this week with over 30. He should keep getting them over the other guys as long as he keeps showing so much heart and effort. I think Biggers (7th round) is my favorite of the three of them right now.
Found them!
here is Phillips
What really sucks for me this year is not only do the Dolphins suck, but my two time back to back champion Panthers are decimated by injury and are currently in last place. First to worst. whomp whaaaaaa
I know. But playoffs don’t start until April. Lots of time.
Yeah, true, I was just feeling the 4-1 beat down the maple leafs gave us last night.
a lot of time to turn that panthers record around
and unlike the Dolphins, the panthers have earned the benefit of the doubt
out of my six favorite college and pro teams, I haven’t seen a championship since 1986 cry me a river, Rock!
All these hype videos are getting a little ridiculous.
that’s Ryder
steve,
I wasn’t talking about Ryder. Everybody and their dog do videos now. From what I can tell they’re not really scouting videos. They are following an algorithm. It’s all good. It allows me to get to watch video I wouldn’t otherwise get to see, so I’ll take them! Nobody forces me to watch them. Lol
I don’t see Ryder as a hype video person. He points out the bad or flaws with the good.
Sorry for the repeat I did not see the other when I posted this….
If it can be deleted, I would appreciate it. 😦

congrats to former Dolphin who made a lot of big catches for us
I saw that. Penn St. was rumored to be interested in him.
GREAT NEWS GUYS!!! Our chance of making the playoffs has DOUBLED since last week.
We are now have a 2% chance of making the playoffs!! DOUBLE the 1% chance last week….
I needed to hear some good news today. Thanks Rock! lol
Question?
Now that Miami has won 3 in a row are any of you changing your stand on the season?
Not really. Only thing changing for me is some hope for the future after seeing the growth of the rookies.
So with the development of our young 2025 rookie class and some from the last two draft classes did they fire Chris Grier prematurely?
No
No, a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then.
NO, they are just fucking up their draft position at this point. There is NO hope to get into the playoffs. It is another wasted season.
For the Miami Dolphins to secure a playoff berth; they need to win all their remaining games and also require specific losses from several other AFC teams to have a chance.
The Dolphins are currently in the hunt for a Wild Card spot, but their playoff odds are very low (less than 1%) as of December 3, 2025, due to their 5-7 record. A single win would not significantly change these odds or guarantee a spot.
For the Dolphins to make the postseason, they need a specific combination of results beyond just their own victories:
In short, the Dolphins have no margin for error and rely heavily on the outcomes of other games to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
There are 5 remaining games. Dolphins can’t win any tiebreakers with their 6 conference losses. So:
Chiefs and Steelers both need to lose at least 2 more games of their remaining 5 games.
Texans need to lose 3 of their remaining 5 games.
It gets better. That just gets you to the 8th seed. After that:
One of the Colts, Bills or Chargers would need to lose 4 out of their last 5 games.
Again, 4 out of these 6 teams need to finish at 9-8, where 3 of those teams are already 8-4.
I think there is a better chance Russia surrenders to Ukraine.
LOL…I think it all crumbles this week when they lose to the Jets 🙃
Brian Hartline is about to become the head coach of USF
—-
He’s been coaching up all them WR’s coming out of Ohio State for quite a few years now. After being OC at Ohio State and heavily involved in recruiting there, he should do well at USF.
Again, no.
YES! It was 5 years too late!
I have to agree to disagree with you on that.
I just don’t see where Grier had any vision on how to build a team. He tried copying the Rams. He failed, put the team in cap hell and wasted valuable draft picks trading up.
Every GM who has been fired has made some good draft picks. Only the ones who have a good plan and vision kept their jobs.
Yes, he failed, and for that alone, he could be fired, but he at least tried, and had not poor coaching and injuries plagued this team, the Dolphins would have gone deep into the playoffs IMHO!
Also they made the playoffs back to back for the first time in over 20 years with a bad HC!

Miami Dolphins Young Talent Drafted By Chris Grier
Looks like a good nucleus to me, and all of them are contributing and developing.
Some of you need to rethink your stance IMHO!
My comment “Miami Dolphins Young Talent Drafted By Chris Grier” is waiting for review.
Markeyh,
we are a mediocre team at best. We beat a bad, injury depleted Commander team, and an awful Saints team. The Victory over the Bills was uplifting. Yes, the later round picks are a good sign, but as of today Jonah looks like a complete bust, and Grant looks average for the 13th pick of the draft. Time will tell.
“Markeyh…we are a mediocre team at best”
Yes, due to a bad HC!
I am not a huge fan of Mike McDaniel, but you can’t pin it all on him. He shares plenty of the blame, but so should Grier and Tua. Like it or not, The QB Gets most of the credit when they win, but also takes most of the criticism when they lose. If you remember back to the 2020 draft, Grier wanted Tua, and Flores wanted Herbert. So that’s on Grier. Grier has also been. Nothing short of reckless with the abundance of picks we had, and what do we have to show for all of. Those picks now? Waddle and Austin Jackson? You can’t put blame MM all you want, but there is plenty of blame to go around
“Jonah looks like a complete bust“
DUH he’s playoing a position he never played before even in college!
They are young and still have time to develop
He played LT, RG and RT in college. He should be able to make the switch, and if he doesn’t , who is that on? MM? No, it’s on Grier for spending TWO picks on a guy who is barely serviceable at LG.
That was a coaching decision, not the GM!
Where to play him that is…
The GM signed a RG in free agency
BEFORE the draft!!!!!!! An oft injured player who , in a shocking turn of events , has been hurt the entire season.
That happens all over the league!
Miami Dolphins Young Talent Drafted By Chris Grier
I posted this earlier with links to the Dolphins roster but It did not go through
Achane was drafted in 2023
half of that list hasn’t proven anything. Some of them look good to us, but only because we follow the team.
I’m not saying there isn’t some promise there, but with some it’s too early to tell. It’s not like you ripped off a list of all/pros there. Achane is a stud for sure. Paul looks to be very good. The rest are role players , although I think Chop will be very good when all is said and done
So it’s just a coincidence that they have won their last 3 games and 4 out of 5 because the young players have improved?
OK if you say so LOL!
many factors went into winning last 3 and 4 of 5, you the rookies are part of that, but on the end of the credit scale
MM using Brunskill as a 6th OL eligible got our running game going, more runs less passes, Weaver scheming better, Tua not throwing 3 ints per game…
we took a bad Washington team to OT to win, and almost blew the Saints game. Come on Markeyh, it is okay to come off of your stance every once in a while when logic and facts are presented.
At the end of the day it’s the “WIN” that counts we also beat the Bills for the first time in forever!!!!
So McDaniel gets NONE of the credit for that? Only the players won those games?
Despite poor QB play and Coaching!
McDaniel gets NONE of the credit…NO!
MM is an extension of Grier, he hired him and is/was responsible for any successes or failures
Ya boy Darius Slay is a free agent…
———-
He didn’t make it to free agency. Bills claimed him off waivers.
he looks to be washed up
Tenured Vets don’t waiver wire
McDaniel is a bad HC!
and Grier was a bad GM
Just like Jeff Ireland, they both acquired talent, but had no plan and no clue what they were looking for in an HC
That is where we disagree, and that will never change. I feel the owner, Ross, controls the HC hires. He kept the same practice of hiring cheap first-timers rather than paying the money to bring in a veteran HC and GM
I actually like Jeff Ireland, too. He suffered the same fate as Grier, dealing with a bad HC!
MikeE, you may be right

😂
it could be said MM is handicapped by the atrocious pick by Grier of Tua instead of Herbert
They are one and the same! 0 SB’s
sure, if that’s how you want to measure them
one’s career is on life support, the other’s is looking better this year with a chance at a playoff run
At that time, Tua not Herbert was the overwhelming favorite among the majority of the fans and team management, including the owner.
and a lot of people were wrong
on here I’d say more people favored Tua, myself included, but all of us had concerns about his health long term and short
we all said Tua was the better QB, if injuries don’t derail him, and that’s what happened
What’s that about “Hindsight”?
I actually didn’t want Miami to draft Tua or any QB that year.
I am archived here being an obnoxious dick about it. LOL
MM took the job because he felt he could win with Tua; he was not blindsided!
He took the job because it has been his dream since he was a ball boy. He did a RECLAMATION PROJECT on the failed QB that the franchise and fans wanted to jettison Including the head coach at the time. Do you forget the entire Watson speculation before MM and cheat motion made Tua look better than he has been since?
I AM SURE that Tom Garginkel & Ross discussed saving the top 5 draft pick that grier had taken and the head coach wanted to dump.
They dumped the HC instead and caused a shit show and lost multiple draft pick over to try and save the mistake grier made
MM was never my cup of tea. I actually liked Brian Flores’ demeanor and coaching style much more. I just hate that he tried to take down the franchise and didn’t go along with the tank and then blew the whistle.
MM has been innovative and came up with good play designs, I just think he has made some first time coach mistakes. That and some of his schemes are complicated and take time and concentration to pull off without penalties do to the intricacies. He would be a better OC than HC, but he could grow into it.
Grier has been here for 20+ years. He was core to the problems, before he became GM along with the two co-chief scouts that got fired a week later.
MM might succeed if he can learn and grow from his weaknesses and maybe let someone else call plays
“MM might succeed if he can learn and grow from his weaknesses..”
He has regressed!!!!
Man….I’m going turn the table on you here man and use your own logic. His rookies are getting better….He has won 4 of the last 5 games…..blah blah blah
You ague yourself into a corner.
MM succeeding in the future would require a complete over haul of how he approaches things
for one he’s an egotistical SOB, doubt that ever changes, without that change I doubt he can succeed
there’s many other changes he must make, that I don’t think he has in him to do
He is not HC material!
Not to lessen your point, but I can’t recall seeing an interview with an NFL headcoach that they didn’t come off egotistical LOL They are 32 of the biggest assholes I’ve ever seen.
“MM was never my cup of tea. I actually liked Brian Flores’ demeanor and coaching style much more. I just hate that he tried to take down the franchise and didn’t go along with the tank and then blew the whistle“
I Totally Agree!
Tua Tagovailoa vs Justin Herbert. They are often compared as they were drafted with the fifth and sixth picks, respectively, in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Production: Herbert has been more prolific in total yardage and touchdowns due to playing more games and a system that has historically asked him to throw more frequently. Tagovailoa, when healthy, has demonstrated higher efficiency, leading the league in key metrics like passing yards in 2023 and completion percentage in 2024.
Style: Herbert is known for his strong arm and ability to extend plays with his athleticism, fitting the traditional “prototypical” quarterback build. Tagovailoa excels in accuracy and quick decision-making within a precise, timing-based offensive scheme, particularly effective at deep-ball accuracy and managing pressure.
Durability and Context: Durability has been a concern for Tagovailoa throughout his career, though both have dealt with injuries. Analysts note that Tagovailoa has often benefited from a stronger supporting cast (e.g., elite receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle) and better defensive play than Herbert has at the Chargers, which impacts team success and individual statistics.
Both QB’s have ZERO playoff wins to date and the Chargers 100% for sure have the better HC!
Harbaugh has only been his HC for 1 3/4 years…
Jim Harbaugh’s NFL coaching career includes head coaching stints with the San Francisco 49ers (2011–2014) and his current role with the Los Angeles Chargers (2024–present). He also served as a position coach for the Oakland Raiders (2002-2003)
A better HC and more experienced than MM!
uhg
my point was that he has only had a “better coach” for 1/3 of his career.
Any coach he had before was better than MM IMO!
So they agree
LOL! Yes.
none of those Tua strengths apply today, he’s no longer that type of QB and never against will be, because his body is broken
I’m not quite sure!
Herbert is still considered a franchise QB, able to beat any team on a given Sunday without relying on smoke and mirrors or something like what happened in our game vs Buffalo
only thing that matters now is who you’d take today, only way you’d still take Tua is, if you’ve lost your marbles
Yes, I would take Tua.
Tuas strength – he gets paid among the top QB salaries to be a less than average QB
One bad year does not define him, I’ll have to see how things progress and he gets his starting linemen back (The ones he lost week 1)
ANyway I’ve been drinkin pretty hard so I should sign off before I make an ass…oh.. nevermind
Nogtih all
I’m out!
HAARP is hitting this blog hard
Markey – in a what have you done for me lately league, it means EVERYTHING!!!!! Tua will either be gone before the season, sit on the bench, or play a few games before giving way to any other QB on the roster
It’s also not just this year, there is a clear deterioration of Tua beginning at the last 4 games of the 2023 season. He turned into a fat broken pumpkin and he ain’t changing back. Most turnovers for an NFL QB since then. He’s a joke!
that about sums it up
Throwing his teammates under the bus is a trait MM has also used, not sure how amy player can play for or with either
MM said last week he’s frustrated by players making the same mistakes over and over, potentially meet kettle
that was supposed to say Tua throws his teammates under the bus and MM does the same with his players
Yep!

This is 100% correct. We took a risk, well knowing that Tua could be an injury risk in the future… that includes me as well in favoring Tua.
Personally, I didn’t buy into Herbert whatsoever after his junior season at Oregon (59.4 completion %). He only came back for his senior season in an attempt to salvage his prior high draft status as a sophomore.
Truth be told, my guy was Jalen Hurts… but he was never going to go early in the 1st round. Thus, he went in the 2nd round.
Brian,
Have you heard Big Ben endorse Mike Tomlin as the next HC of Penn State?
This totally jives with the rumblings I’ve been hearing over the last couple of weeks: Mike Tomlin is likely leaving the Stealers*.
Question: would ya rather have him HC at PSU or the HC of our Phins?
Happy belated to Markeyh and Piggie
I don’t watch a lot of college ball but the year we were looking to draft a qb , I watched a few Bama games .. I thought Tua was a byproduct of his WRs , not the other way around .. I wanted Burrow , but knew that wasn’t gonna happen … once we drafted Tua I HOPED he would be THE ONE … he has had his moments , but he looks broken now , both physically and spiritually.. spiritually he does not look angry or upset when HE fucks up.. no emotion, and yeah tossing people under the bus when living in a glass house is not a good look
Get a new GM without saddling him with MM.. if he wants to work with MM Panay fine , but don’t make it a prerequisite or you will eliminate a good portion of interest.. maybe Minnesota or New Orleans will trade for Tua 🤷♂️
lol OOPS .. Scratch the Vikings , unless Flores moves on

I think that’s something that made us draft Jaylen Waddle and trade for ‘Reek. In other words, I agree that Tua’s success was related to his WRs.
Not that Tua lacked talent, mind you… but those ‘Bama WRs certainly made him look even BETTER.
His receivers were always open by like 5 yards. He didn’t need to be pinpoint then
I will NEVER back down from what Tua had accomplished… it’s not easy to lead the NFL in passer rating (’22), passing yards (’23), and completion % (’24… albeit being a check-down Chad in the process).
He’s now fallen off a cliff. Omar now suddenly believes it’s about Tua’s hip being shot? NO SHIT, SHERLOCK, LOL! How long have I been sayin’ this? His arm didn’t suddenly experience massive atrophy as though it’s been in a cast for half a year… it’s certainly NOT his arm strength (again, NO SHIT!).
He can’t put his lower-body into his throws any longer, which is very, very important to any QB in terms of not only power, but accuracy as well.
He’s DAMAGED GOODS, for the N-TEENTH time.
Oh yeah… he’s all but immobile in the pocket today (he used to move rather well), he can’t slide right, and again… he’s one more concussion away from becoming scrambled eggs.
M13,
yes, I read that . I would much rather have him coach the Dolphins, but I don’t think there’s any traction to him leaving.
Pat Kraft should be fired from Penn St. he fired Franklin without a clear plan in place to hire another HC. They went through National singing day without a permanent HC in place, and they had an absolutely disastrous day recruiting. The only name left is Bob Chesney from James Madison. they have whiffed on every other coach.
Before Ryan Tannehill got injured in 2016, he was having a Tua-like season. He played 13 games, had 19 TD’s, 12 INT’s, and didn’t have anywhere near the players on offense Tua has. No Tyreek, No Waddle, no Achane, although Ajayi had a nice season. Problem with Ajayi was he had three 200 + yard performances, and then only one other game over 100 yards. He was very inconsistent. Just to prove Tannehill could do more with a better roster, he went 12-5 and won a playoff game, something Tua will never do here. I know some like to glorify Tua, but he’s never been it, even when supposedly healthy. He’s been on an elevator that only goes down since the last few games of 2023. Never a big game player, never a winner when the chips were down. That’s his sad story, and I want it to end here ASAP
Markey – Your list of ” Young Talent” is just a bunch of JAGS, most of them wouldn’t be starters on a good NFL team and most of them aren’t even starters here, and probably aren’t long for the NFL. Also consider he blew 2 picks on Jonah, 2 picks on a freaking RB Jaylen Wright, Chop Robinson looks like Chop Suey, your point looks just as bad as Grier.
He also spent 2 picks on Liam Eichenberg.
No doubt, but Eich wasn’t on Markey’s parade of “Young talent”, otherwise known as draft picks to fill out a roster. LOL
True but it’s more proof Grier and his talent evaluators failed.

Rock, you are correct. Though, that was how the NFL.com website posted it, saying he was “claimed”.
