For those of you have been here with us for a long time, you know how excited I am about this Sunday’s game. I’ve been waiting to see this team move on from QB Tua Tagovailoa and now it’s official. I’m not going stand on top of Tua and get a 15 yard Unsportmanlike Conduct penalty flag, but I was exhausted seeing that same old tired show, knowing full well he didn’t have the mettle to win big games, shouldn’t have been given that huge 4 YR/ $212M contract but they did. That’s going to kill our cap next season and in 2027, but the important thing is, it appears as if his uninspiring play won’t have to kill us too.
Is this end of the Tua era in Miami? It’s possible, but regardless, I’m excited to see the rookie 7th RD pick Quinn Ewers play this Sunday. I don’t know what to expect, but I do know it will be different than watching Tua Tagovailoa play, and for me that’s good enough for now. So what should we expect from Quinn Ewers and the Miami Dolphins offense this Sunday? Impossible to say. We know that Mike McDaniel’s offense is very complex, and we saw how difficult it was for other QB’s to come here in and replace QB Tua Tagovailoa when he’s been injured. Now most of that was just poor planning by this organization, relying on an unprepared QB Skylar Thompson who looked like he had never seen this offense before as the backup QB, and then scrambling for Practice Squad QB’s Tim Boyle and Tyler “Snoop” Huntley. Each one got a week of practice with the starters and both QB’s struggled in their starts.
This week in particular, we’re playing the Cincinnati Bengals who have the worst run defense in the NFL. The Benglas have allowed an NFL worst 2211 yards rushing and a 5.3 yards per rush average. RB De’Von Achane is averaging 5.8 YPC in 2025 so he must be looking forward to playing the Bengals this Sunday. Achane is #3 in rushing yards with 1186 yards and is trailing #2 James Cook and #1 Jonathan Taylor by over 200 yards. This game can give him an opportunity to catch up some. Now that doesn’t mean that Achane will have 40 carries and QB Quinn Ewers will throw 12 passes or less, but I would expect a heavy dose of Achane, maybe Wright and/or Gordon.
I’m very excited to see Quinn Ewers play, because who knows? He’s got a live arm, not a Drake Maye arm, or a Patrick Mahomes arm, but he can throw the ball better than the current 2025 version of Tua Tagovailoa. I understand that’s not saying much, but I’m sure the kid can throw the ball with pace up to about 40 yards and I look forward to seeing some of that. I’m also quite sure he can run for a 1st down and slide P-A-S-T the first down marker. It’s the little things, ya know? I hope he’s practicing well, I hope he gets to digest some of the playbook, and mostly I hope he got to get in sync with his receivers, ALL of them, not just the De’Von Achane Show. RB De’Von Achane has 2 more receptions (61) than WR Jaylen Waddle (59), and Waddle has 18 more receptions than the nearest WR, slot receiver Malik Washington (41). It’s time to get WR’s back in the game. Probably not THIS game, but I want to see some downfield throws, and not “Punts” as they were called to make excuses for Tua when they were lobbed up there (The only way he can throw past 20 yards) and intercepted.
Is it possible that Quinn Ewers can show enough to consider him to be the QB next season? I’m not talking about this game in particular, but the small body of work he’ll have in this one and the next two. I think he can show enough to be considered to be in the mix, and that’s pretty much all I asked for. I just wanted to see if the kid could even be considered to be in the mix as the starter for next season. We’re not going to have money to spend, so it’s probably Tua, Ewers or some other low price veteran NFL QB, or a 2026 Draft pick. I’d love to see Ewers show well. I know the odds are not with him on that, but it happens now and then. Tom Brady was a 6th RD pick, Brock Purdy was also a 7th RD pick. I think we should draft a QB next season, but that doesn’t mean it has to be our 1st pick. We do need to address that position without a doubt.
Have we seen the last of QB Tua Tagovailoa? I would imagine he’s been humbled by this benching despite his rhetoric that “he gets to go home and be with his kids whether we win or lose”. He’s a competitor, and this probably stings. Maybe it’s a wake up call for him and he goes out and finds a new trainer and comes back next season in great shape and able to do significantly more physically and he’s once again a viable starter. That’s fine with me, but even in that scenario, he shouldn’t be gifted the starting spot, it has to be a fair competition if you’re going to go about it the right way. I’m rooting for QB Quinn Ewers to have a great first start, to get a “W” and to show us that he deserves consideration for next season.
GO DOLPHINS!!! GO QUINN EWERS!

I always get stuck with a Cleveland or Cincinnati game if there is one opposite the Vikings. I figured I got at least a shot to watch the game today but no because we suck I get the jills. I just want to watch Myles get the record by crushing Allen.
looking for any positive signs for Ewers today, including team rushing
lame duck QBs generally face cover-0 type of Ds, so if we can run it, it’s a sign he’s backed them off
Damn those are awesome helmets and I love these uniforms. I wish that dumbass Ross would go back to them already. I’m guessing 90% of the fans want it to happen.
GO EWERS!!!!
GO PHINS!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
(actually, I want a better Draft pick 😉 )
Go Dolphins! Go Ewers! Getter done Quinn!!
hopefully they make Ewers job as easy as possible and run the ball a lot today
off script nice
De’Von Achane Show 2.0
they didn’t use him enough on that drive
Fuck he’s amazing
like he’s not even trying, which is part of his allure, he runs easy makes a cut, then he’s gone
they used him enough on that drive…lol
these aren’t the 4 win Bengals, all of Higgins, Chase and Burrow playing
not sure how that got entered as a response
their defense is still shit
we should be able to run for 200+ today
He is amazing. I want to see a little more balance in the offense. Understandable though that week 1 with Ewers you see more Achane though. If you want evaluate Ewers though he has to get to play a little
1 quarter in Ewers looks great, albeit against a terrible D, but nonetheless he’s done what has been asked
Wilson had about 5 yards or more left before he stepped out of bounds
yep
What ?? Qb is allowed to roll out ?? And complete. Pass ?? 😱😵💫🤯
where was Achane on that drive?
can’t let MM look too good or he’ll be back
Ewers seems quicker handing the ball off, Tua seems like he’s in quicksand
still waiting to see Ewers manage the rush/blitz and not just launch it up
don’t dislike anything he’s done yet
Joe Burrow is really good
just a reminder I guess
combined sack by our last 2 first rounders
but it doesn’t count, because Burrow was forced right to them
after hearing about bain sack last night where the quarterback was forced right into him.And he made the sack, what I pictured was that sack by chop and Grant against Burrow
Weaver dialing it up
doink in
Ewers has been decisive
a key to this O
🐧🐧🐧
Nice drive!
Hawaii is calling
Tua…come home
Ewers looks pretty good. He doesn’t have to do much
but Tua didn’t either and we saw how that went
Lol
huh…a QB that goes thru his reads. Whooda thunk?
now let’s see how he handles pressure
2 minute drill
As far as I can recall, Mike McDaniel doesn’t have a 2 minute offense
the toss was a pretty stupiid play in that situation
they snapped the ball with 34 seconds left on the okay clock and I’m estatic
How about that 3rd down call? Way too safe
it was a really bad call – it was really risky
you don’t run a toss on 3rd and 1
run inside
Or a short pass
bad play call
Solid start for Ewers. Made some throws, managed the offense well, no wtf?! plays.
Ewers is holding his own. It’s not too big for him. Practice…lol
watching the halftime show
and I could not have helped noticing Bill Cowher has changed his look
he looks like a guy who sells black market croissants in shady Paris cafe…
Solid half for Ewers.
No wasted 1st half timeout for the first time in I can’t remember how long.
what a shitty call
Common complaint around the league. The refs suck, completely changing the game.
Well some things never change
guess we’ll see how he plays from behind. Depending on play calling
two receivers in the same area
Typical 2nd half ‘wheels come off’ from our team
who is Theo Weese and why is he playing
they could have called pass interference on that interception
dB was on a piggyback ride before the ball arrived
Defense folds like a cheap suit, I’m shocked
Wheels falling off the bus
honestly can’t beleive people suggest weaver is a head coaching candidate
agree
Typical 3rd quarter BS by both sides of the ball.
BTW, that PI on Miami was BULLSHIT!!!!!!
now they are just trying to lose
yay team
There’s a play that’s not in the Tua playbook…lol
That QB sneak was there, Ewers just rushed it and slipped.
How do we allow that completion? My goodness! Inexcusable!
It fucking depressing being a Dolphins fan.
Anthony Weaver killing it today. Oops, sorry, meant getting killed
Commenter says ‘massive defensive breakdown for the Dolphins’.
I’d say that has been the whole 2nd half.
Uh turnovers are massive…lol
not that it matters
but that was also PI
Yeah had both hands full of waddle shoulder pads
Was that not pass interference? He looked like he was holding Waddle with the ball in the air
yes it was
that one and the int to Weiss
And the phantom penalty…omfg…lol
Are we heading towards drafting #11? Isn’t thst a good thing being just outside the top 10? Isn’t there a difference in the contracts or something like that?
D looks like they checked out after Pitt
It’s a damn good thing we’re not in the AFC north. We got our asses kicked by all 4 teams this year.
zebras not doing us any favors or even our due
but whatever, Ewers looks good and we get a higher draft pick
and MM looks unprepared as per ushe
14-21 149 yards and 2 int’s looks good?
getting a false start on 4rd and 5 this late in the game and this late in the season is just horrible
like a 10 yr difference by not going for it
We’re going to be 0-4 vs the AFC North this season, and two of those teams have (very) losing records.
Double-digit losses for those two teams, and there’s still a couple of games to play.
Haven’t come close to delay of game with late incoming plays.
On that 3 rd down could see coach and Ewers signalling with 20 or so seconds still not in huddle , ball was snapped with 10-15 seconds on play clock
Noticed the same thing…and same results
they cut out all the pre snap motion for him
Burrow has a TD for each 1st rounder we tried to give up for him
45-14 and 21 points off of turnovers and you blame the Defense? The only good thing is maybe the owner will rethink bringing back this idiot HC!
GET ACHANE OUT OF THE GAME!!!
Ross was probably looking at Instagram chicks
I don’t think he cares about the game
markeyh….you’re spot on. Welcome to the club…lol
This Bangles* Defense is the worst in the NFL, and we can barely move the needle against them on Offense.
Capri McD needs to be fired after the season ends.
I would fire him after this game! 🙂
My only asks today were for Ewers to play well and look like a good NFL QB
mission accomplished
Nothing about his play today looked good, what are you looking at?
What makes this shit so hard to swallow is knowing that we’re still so effed next year.
+1
I have watched the game sporadically because A)it’s not worth killing three hours to watch them and B) I have too much shit to do to get ready for Christmas. How has Ewers looked overall? Obviously, a good amount of these stats were garbage time.
He looked decent in the 1st half. A long scoring drive, made some plays, no bonehead decisions, much better arm and more mobile than Tua. About what you’d hope for from a rookie.
Then he looked like the rest of the team did in the 2nd half- pure garbage.

I’m not sure I’d characterize Ewers’ play as highly as you, bud. It was against the shittiest Defensive team in the NFL, we weren’t missing any starters on Offense (same personnel as Tua), 0 TDs and 2 INTs (at least 1 INT wasn’t his fault), he got padded stats against some backups on the Cincy Defense in the 2nd half, and his passer rating was 66.0.
This is NOT about Ewers vs Tua, as I’m sure Tua wouldn’t have fared much better, to be certain.
Capri McD should be held more accountable than Ewers, due to the flawed play-designs. For instance, 3 receivers all in the same proximity to one another… what is that?!!
Kurt Warner is EXACTLY correct when he assessed our Phins’ Offense under Capri McD. Therefore, it’s very difficult to assess young Quinn Ewers.
I will say… YES… Ewers looked very good at times today, especially being it was his first NFL start.
I really don’t get the trash talk on Ewers….wtf are you critics critiquing? Lol
His play was subpar at best that is not trash talk it’s the truth.
Not substandard to Tua and he’s a 7th round pick…lol
Substandard for any QB, this is not about Tua!
Someone stated ‘mission accomplished’. Exactly!
I am not blaming Ewers because he was put in this position by a clueless HC who did a poor job of prepairing Ewers when you consider he was the 3rd string QB for most of the seson and to name him the starter was just stupid IMO.
If McDaniel wanted to make Ewers the QB to start in place of Tua, you would think he would have made him the #2 QB from day one of training camp!
I’m GOOD with naming Ewers the starter, being something is very wrong with Tua (it’s his hip, I’m tellin’ y’all!).
I’m NOT good with Capri McD’s play-calling for a rook (or for Tua), who was the 3rd string QB for most of the season.
I’m half with ya, my bud! 🙂
And I’m FULLY with ya that Capri McD must go!
Krishna,
I honestly don’t think anybody is calling out Ewers for his play today. Why? Because Capri McD doesn’t know what he’s doing anymore on Offense. JMO
Did anyone see the fan with a bag over his head saying sell the team. LOL We need everyone doing this. When it comes to football, Ross is a dumbass!!!!
^^^
I can not, will not, nor will EVER lie…
I don’t know WTF happened to our Defense today. It’s not as though we were playing in freezing temps, being it was a balmy 80 degrees in Miami during game-time.
It’s almost as though our Defense just laid down. Now granted, Joe Burrow IS an incredible QB when healthy… and with Chase and Higgins, they make a very formidable force.
Wonder what Anthony Weaver has to say about his unit’s poor performance today.
I think it’s unfortunately a natural occurrence when the season is toast, and things go south in the game you’re in you kinda stop killing yourself. Not every player, but it just takes a couple and then it becomes contagious. There are some guys that never turn it off, but not enough unfortunately.
Four turnovers by the offense might be what Weaver would point to as to why they had a rough day.
The turnovers all occurred in the second half and included:
These four turnovers led to 28 points for the Bengals, who went on to win the game 45-21.
Before the idiots start comparing Tua to Ewers, Tua has been in this offense for 6 seasons now, this is Ewers first week of full practice with guys he’s never played with. Maybe we should just step back for a second and realize that any comparison is 100% unfair. So before anyone here says something so stupid like Tua could have done better or anything like that, Tua had his six years and they all went down the toilet. Buh-bye!
I was encouraged by his 1st half play. He only had 1 incompletion on 3rd down in the 1st half. It was the running game that failed to convert on a couple of 3rd and short situations.
The whole team fell apart in the 2nd half. I put that on the coaching staff; it’s been a problem all year.
It didn’t look like too much for him, but how much was that the Bengals defense sucked and didn’t seem to get a lot of pressure on him I don’t know. We have to see a larger body of work, and unfortunately 2 more games is what we’re going to get. I wish we had lost more games earlier on so we could have given him like 5 games to play rather than 3. The first one after just a couple of practices must have been pretty hard, and you really can’t develop any kind of chemistry with anyone after 2 practices. We’ll see if he looks better as we go, but against better defenses, it might go the other way.
I really have no expectations. He has a 3 game opportunity to show he deserves to compete for the starting position next year, it’s on him to make the most of it.
They did make an interesting point in the game. They said Ewers probably knows his defensive teammates better than his offensive teammates… having played on the scout team prepping the defense for the upcoming games.
Ewers looks the part, I enjoyed him behind center, he can stand in the pocket like a real QB
he threw the ball effortlessly, ran with conviction, gave his receivers a chance
fumble near midfield in 3rd really hurt, 2 ints were both PI, not sure what the cheatbras were looking at
hope Ewers can build on what he did today
most rookie QBs looked like they didn’t belong on the field there first start, and what I said I expected all week
Quinn should never have been named the starter when he was never given the chance to be prepared for that role, considering he was the 3rd string QB for just about all of the season.
I am not blaming him more than our CLUELESS HC!
I’m giving Ewers a little bit of the benefit of the doubt because he’s basically had 2 practices and 2 walk-throughs with the first-string offense. What I’m looking for is improvement in each of the last 2 games. We’ll see what happens.
Well stated. Ewers must NOT be judged on one game alone… especially on his first start in the NFL.
Hope dictates effort. On full display the second half.
You people crack me up…we are out the playoffs and put in 7th round QB
Seriously…give me a fucking break…lol
Judgement on Ewers is premature ejaculation…lmao
Premature ejaculation still feels good though, does premature judgement feel good too? lol
lmao…yeah
mission accomplished…lol
The defense was atrocious in the 2nd half. Yes, the offense turned the ball over, but these weren’t pick 6 scores or possessions starting inside the 10. The D still could have held them to fgs, gotten a turnover of their own, or gotten at least a single 3 and out. On the 2nd turnover, they gave up 35 yards on 2 plays for a TD.
In the game, the Bengals were 6 for 6 TDs in the red zone, they converted 50% of their 3rd down attempts, over 100 yards rushing, over 300 yards passing. Burrow was 26 for 32 for over 80% completion percentage with 4 TD passes.
The D didn’t even slow the Bengals down and performed just as poorly as the offense.
We played very complementarily bad football in the 2nd half, lol.
Exactly! The defense fed off the bad from the offense and did a great job matching their futility.
IMO, perhaps the biggest indictment of this coaching staff is how typical it is for this team to underperform in the 2nd half.
Adjustments for the second half is a coaching issue….facts
