The process of remaking the entire front office and finding a new Head Coach is over. Just a couple of weeks ago it appeared as if the Dolphins were going to once again not finish cleaning house and keep Head Coach Mike McDaniel, but finally Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross succumbed to the reality that all these half measures taken over the last 17 years with him as the owner haven’t worked. Stephen Ross fired Mike McDaniel January 8th which finally purged the team of former GM Chris Grier’s staff. It was crushing to me that they were once again going to half ass the process, but thankfully Ross finally did what had to be done. He didn’t do it quite right, it seemed as if he misled Mike McDaniel, but I believe that the move was necessary.
After hiring our new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan who was VP of Player Personnel with the Green Bay Packers, Sully conducted a thorough Head Coach search interviewing more than 10 Head Coach candidates. One long tenured veteran Head Coach, John Harbaugh was not one of them, Harbaugh had no interest in coming here. One very recently fired candidate, Sean McDermott who was just fired yesterday by the Buffalo Bills was also not interviewed. It became clear that Sully had his man a couple of days ago as Jeff Hafley was coming back for a 2nd interview and the reports were coming in that this was going to be it.
So, without further a do, Welcome to Miami new Head Coach Jeff Hafley!
From the very beginning of the process of finding our next Head Coach, I was fine with once again hiring a coordinator who was going to be a first time NFL Head Coach. Hafley spent 11 years as an assistant coach in College Football for 4 different, beginning with Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Albany, Pittsburgh and then finally Rutgers University. In 2012, Hafley made the jump to the NFL as an Assistand Defensive Backs Coach with the Tamp Bay Buccaneers and then became their Defensive Back Coach in 2013. Hafley then went to the Cleveland Browns for 2 years in 2014 in the same capacity. He then spent the next 3 tears once again in the same capacity for the San Francisco 49ers.
In 2019, Hafley returned to the college ranks as an assistant Defensive Coordinator for Ohio State. In 2020, he was hired as Head Coach of Boston College and remained there until 2023 where he compiled a 22-26 record with one Bowl Game Victory in the Fenway Bowl. Hafley then once again returned to the NFL as Defensive Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, where he worked with GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, who was VP of Player Personnel with the Packers.
That’s how it all went down, and now we once again start anew, but really, completely anew. This is the first full reset since Stephen Ross has been here, but I’m sure he’s acutely aware of the unrest and dissatisfaction of Miami Dolphins after failing to win a playoff game in over 25 years, the longest such streak in the NFL. I also believe that very late in the process, while Mike McDaniel was still here something clicked during the GM search, perhaps candidates were intimating that they would prefer to hire their own Head Coach, whatever it was that spurred the move, it was the right one. I’ll admit I felt bad for Mike McDaniel because he was kind of hung out to dry, despite the fact that I thought he should have been fired weeks ago.
So, here we are, everything is new and for the moment, happy and serene. Sully and Hafley have an awful lot of work to do. Jeff Hafley has to assemble his coaching staff, his coordinators and assistant coaches. Then together with Sully, they have to evaluate the roster, the cap situation and figure out how they want to make funds available as we are currently over the cap. As Sully mentioned in his interview, he will be making these decisions unilaterally, he will accept input from his staff, but he will ultimately be making all decisions, as he should, and as I have been saying. The GM must have total autonomy to make things work correctly and so there is no ambiguity as to who is responsible for everything. Now that Sully has chosen his Head Coach, Jeff Hafley is now his responsibility.
Not once did I say here that Jeff Hafley was my choice, and if you have a sharp eyes, you’ll notice he was omitted for from the picture gallery of Head Coach candidates in my last article. No mistake that, it was done on purpose because I had hoped that he was going to hire outside of his familiarity so there wouldn’t be that stigma that he hired his buddy, was always going to hire his buddy and the whole search was a sham. I’ll say this, I’m sure Hafley was at the top of his list always, but the Head Coach search wasn’t a sham, and in fact was an excellent experience for a first time to GM to conduct so many interviews, listen to so many different philosophies and ideas from 10 or more candidates. I mean he could interviewed 5 guys and just said let’s call it a day and name Hafley. I believe that he went through the process open minded, and if a candidate impressed him more than Hafley, he would have hired him. Familiarity isn’t always a bad thing, there will definitely be cohesive relationship from the very start, and let’s face it, we need that. I finally feel good about this team, let’s all hope for the best!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

anyone watch the press conference the Bills Owner and GM had today (or clips)
they basically blamed the coaching staff for the Keon Coleman pick
weird dynamic
just a reminder
in the 2024 draft, the bills traded out of the first round with the chiefs (of all teams)
the chiefs took Xavier Worthy
the Bills took Keon Coleman in the 2nd round
Xavier Worthy ended up being the chiefs leading receiver in the 2025 afc championship against the Bills, catching a TD
while Coleman caught 1 pass in that game
and was benched this year for under performing
maybe the coaching staff loved Coleman… I can buy that
but I can’t really buy that the coaching staff encouraged trading with the chiefs to get him
in case you didn’t see it
https://x.com/mysportsupdate/status/2013994349449625756?s=46
I’m sure this is going to make Coleman feel great…
also Dolfans
not sure how much Bills, Jets and Patriots bashing you like
but a pork philosophy is no matter how miserable this drought is making us
take a few minutes to bash yhe teams you hate too
🐖💨
this owner looks worse than Ross
https://x.com/mysportsupdate/status/2013995764033225036?s=46
kind of looks like Beane wanted Coleman at the combine

Preach Piggy!
I’m enjoying every second of it!
it case it got missed by the page turn
would be wild to take 4 DBs but it’s a good draft with good players
if you don’t clean out the litter box and just keep putting in more litter you end up with a bigger pile of shit…lol
Cleaning out the litter box replacing it with clean clitter is best….totally football related…lol
Lots of teams play 9 wide formations but not all the time. It’s mostly used on long down and distance.

sb7mvp, That was Ryder’s very first mock. He does one every Monday, Mock Draft Monday. Started doing it when our season ended. He’s done a second one now. This one came out better then the 1st mock as far as our needs go.
What’s funny is I posted the other one thinking it was this one.
I’ve liked some of his skill position picks like Ted Hurst and Trinidad Chambliss, but don’t know if this is the year to have those positions in our top 5 picks.
I agree. I we make some trades for more picks, like Chubb or trade down, I would go there.
He’s a crier! I wish I could see some of his old scouting reports.
He’s a crier too! Are these two guys clones?
The GM and Coach’s hairlines are trying to get out of Miami already.
The Bills fans are circulating a petition to reinstate McDermott. LOL
Like the owner (OR McDermott would reverse direction at this point!)
They were talking about the presser on WQAM this morning where Pegula interrupted and stated that McDermott really wanted Keon Coleman and Beane didn’t. Sounded like a clusterfuck
https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-gm-jon-eric-sullivan-still-evaluating-qb-position-we-have-to-figure-that-out
Sullivan basically said the team will be drafting a QB every year
So everyone should expect one of those mid rounds guys this year
I keep seeing people link us to Malik Willis
I don’t see it. I don’t how we can afford it
sells more likely we draft another QB to compete with Ewers
Just got done watching this morning’s presser, and I come away rather impressed! One thing I can tell ya?
INTERVIEWS with the players/prospects are going to be more important than ever. Team culture is extraordinarily important to both Sully and Hafley. And for instance, I don’t believe Sully would EVER have traded for ‘Reek or Ramsey.
And I have to get this off my chest: a billionaire owner hired an audio team where the microphones kept cutting out? WTF is that?
Also, Ross had to check his notes before mentioning Sully or Hafley’s names… he obviously didn’t even remember their names! SMH
And lastly, WTF was it when it appeared Ross was going to shake Hafley’s hand, Hafley thought so too, and Ross went out of his way to NOT shake Hafley’s hand and to put his papers down on the desk. WTF?!!
HOW EMBARRASSING!!!
Ross was being called Sleepy Joe in the live chat

Could be!
Piggy – It’s just lazy, like linking Hafley to Sully. Oh, wait . . .
My faith is restored — at least for right now — that we hired the right GM and HC. Again, I’m really impressed with Sully and Hafley after the presser.
GO PHINS!!!
Their public displays of emotion today doesn’t bother me in the least… they actually CARE about what they’re doing. I find it to be rather refreshing.
Now IF they get all mushy every time they do a presser, then I’ll be concerned!
I can’t tell them apart. They look the same, sound the same lol
Perhaps two peas from the same pod?! 🙂
Or perhaps, two slices of cheese from the same block?! 🙂
They’re requesting to speak with CJ Stroud’s QB Coach for OC position, but it could be to satisfy the Rooney Rule.
I thought that was just for HC’s, I don’t know. Anyway, beer to you.
The rule was expanded.
Does anybody know if we get a 3rd rounder for THIS DRAFT (’26), in the event Anthony Weaver gets a HCing job this year?
Yes, I realize we’d get two 3rd rounders… but does it begin with THIS DRAFT (’26)?
I don’t know.
I just wish someone would hire him already.
Dolphins request interview with Texans QB Coach Jarrod Johnson for the OC position.
He has virtually little coaching experience and no coordinator experience, college or pro.
2017 with the 49er’s under Shanahan as part of the Diversity Coaching Fellowship
2019 with the Colts under Frank Reich again part of the Diversity Coaching Fellowship. Then promoted in 2020 to Offensive Quality Control Coach.
2022 Hired as Vikings Assistant QB Coach under Kevin O’Connell.
2023 to present, Texans QB Coach

Please say no to Taylen Green. Especially at 111.
Please, for the love of god, no more Steve Ross at the microphone!!!
I was just listening to Hoch, Crowder, and Solana, and Crowder brought up a Friday walk-through fight between Manny Wright and Matt Roth, and I immediately thought of you guys and Chuck Norris. LOL
What’s a “walk-through fight”?
They were having their Friday walk-through for Sunday’s game when a fight broke out between Matt Roth and Manny Wright. Crowder was shocked that a fight would break out during a team walk-through, but it’s Matt Roth we are talking about.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers,” Baldinger said while speaking on his podcast. “Not out here trying to play reporter or doing any of that nonsense, but I hear the Steelers are very interested in Mario Cristobal, the coach at the University of Miami. I think Mario Cristobal actually would really translate to the NFL. I watched his practice in the spring… The way that Mario coached that team reminded me of what old-school coaches used to do.”
I believe in belief….
Man first impressions are everything….
We shall see. I’ve seen first-impressions being nothing more than rehearsed BS.
We shall see…
IMO, so far so good.
MATT ROTH can kill two stones with one bird… and make those stones bleed.
Anyway, so IF we end up with FOUR 3rd round draft picks, I could easily see us using as much for leverage to move up in the 1st round, from R1P11.
Fill out the roster, trim the fat. Use all the 3rd RD picks and get better. Fat Jonah and Fat Tua can take a fucking hike, unless they improve. Attitude should mean everything to Sully and Haf. Tua or Jonah give them a sideways glance they fucking sit and rot. Same goes goes for everyone else but those 2 especially, because Tua Two Twelve and Jonah Two Picks need a lot of improvement
I’d be fine trading lower or out of the first this year for draft capital next year.
Looks like Minter to the Ravens
Bri, Tim – Wanted your opinion on the Mets trade for Peralta
I’m not thrilled with it unless we sign Peralta to a deal. I don’t think this team has any business trading two top prospects for a #1 or really a #2 in a good rotation for a 1 year rental. We’re not that good, and we’re not beating the Dodgers.
Agreed . I hate trading Jett Williams
they have to extend him or that trade is a massive failure

Like
yes, we would get 2 3rds in the 2026 draft, if Weaver gets hired as a head coach
we’d have 5 3rds
that’s how it was described in a video I watched, but just looked it up and its a comp 3rd in 2026 and a comp 3rd in 2027
I was about to point this out when I read your first post
M13,
Absolutely zero reason to move up. If anything, we should be adding picks to try to make a move next year to get a QB, if they can’t figure out a way to massage the wins/losses to get a high enough pick.
I see no reason to give up daft capital to move up this year…nonsense…lol
We have so many needs…omfg
…it’s daft if we do but should have read draft…lol
Maybe some want Gruer back…lol
Grier….lol…he would trade with mf13ss…lol
Thanks Bri – I suppose if we win a World Series ot would be acceptable, but that’s not happening. Not sure we can even win our division
Loved the pressers today. What a 180 in public speaking from our new HC! Lol
Go Phins!
I just started watching the presser. What is the deal with our GM’s eyebrows?
Does he shave half of them? Maybe in solidarity with -Half-ley…
LOL
Freakin Niners get another two 3rd rd picks for Saleh. He is the gift that keeps on giving to them.
Oh nvmd, he was only there a year.
Just getting into the Halfley part of the presser. He says one thing he believes in is belief. Ted Lasso says the same thing. I already love this guy, lol.
4 minutes in and I’ve counted zero ‘uhms’…refreshing
It’s mindblowing how inept and propagandist any national media is. I’ve seen so many articles that now say McDaniel should have never been fired and this genius is going to make Herbert the next big thing. Just like when they heavily promote players in ridiculous deals and say there’s no way an intelligent owner won’t pay guys like Tua crazy money. Then, just as soon as that idea looks idiotic, they act like that team’s FO is full of untalented morons…or ex journalists.
They pushed the college pay to play disaster with disingenuous takes. They continue to push every player getting ridiculous deals when it destroys team’s abilities to field top units. One minute a coach should be fired immediately and the next minute he’s a genius who should have never been fired. Just liars every single time they open their mouths. If McD is allowed to control the offense, they will find ways to call plays late, and play cutesy pass plays at the worst times because that’s who he is. And Herbert has never been a Mahomes level of player. He’ll probably be better but he’s not going to suddenly become something he’s never been. An unbelievable talent in a fishbowl of excellence.
Trancript of Sully and Haf’s press conference…

…we’re going to draft, coach, and retain our own….
What a fucking concept? Lol
….we’re going to give our QB the best resources to succeed, OL with depth, the ability to run the ball well, and skill players….
That’s music to my ears…lol
blah, blah, blah
every 4 years rinse and repeat, the next coach always says what everyone wants to hear
win an FN playoff game, then I’ll listen to what he has to say, until then I’ll treat his pressers as if he’s saying ahh dut dat
blah, blah, blah…what critics say
GMs typically don’t turn over every 4 years…blah, blah…lol
….we will be accountable to each other, tough love, focused on winning culture, and if you don’t like it, bye, bye…lol
…we will draft QBs every or every other year as it’s the most important position….
Maybe, these guys get it and maybe they don’t…lol.
It’s so refreshing not hearing CG say stupid shit with no vision.
give it time, you’ll be saying what you said about Grier and MM in no time 🤣
all these guys are just establishment guys, brought in to schmooze us over while the league decides who is going to win
was it a surprise KC won all of those close games in 2024, with a favorable call evertine they needed one?
then in 2025, when they didn’t get those calls they were the worst in the league in close games
if Buffalo’s game with Denver was in Buffalo they would’ve gotten the calls and won that game
Bills are interviewing McD for their HC job. Wonder if they make winter capris…
Some people live in world of conspiracies….lmfao
how did they get both Sully and Hafley in the same room together?
I’m sure its 1 guy, with a disguised hairline
Sully got hired, then hired himself to be HC😜
Lol…I can’t tell them apart
LOL when I watched the presser yesterday, I got tired of listening to JES and decided to fast forward. It just happened to be at the end of his time anyway, like 10 seconds before they switched, but I missed the change while fast forwarding and was like, holy crap this GM presser is long! When are they going to put Hafley on?!? Then I stopped FF and realized that I had been fast forwarding through 10 minutes of Hafely’s presser. LOL
They do look very similar.
Even Hafley made a comment about it.
This could clue us into who they hire as OC and DC. Whichever candidates look the most like them. lol
Hafley said on WQAM this morning that they hope to have all three coordinators in place by the end of the weekend….
Lol @BBM.
We’re going to have a coaching staff of clones. Will the real Jeff Hafley please stand up?

The requested an interview with the QB coach from the Texans. A guy who has like NO FUCKING EXPERIENCE! I hope they don’t hire a bunch of “up and commers” who haven’t come yet. First time HC should have some experience in his staff in order to develop players. IMO
see, I’m just the opposite. I like that they are not (maybe) just recycling names. 1st-timers are hungry, innovative.

I want a METRIC SHIT TON more experience for my offensive play designer / play caller!!!! This is a ridiculous suggestion for the position.
Hafley says he has had a plan in place for a couple of weeks now on who he wants for his coordinators. I hope the guy from the Texans is a Rooney Rule placation.
I caught that. “Hafley says he has had a plan in place for a couple of weeks”
SO, does this mean our HC search was a shame. Did Hafley know he was going to get the job “for a couple of weeks”?
sham
Maybe just being prepared and having a plan in place for all his interviews.
Sitting next to each other in the presser, Hafley’s head looks twice the size of JES’s. His head is yuge.
I was just listening to KFAN this morning, and they were talking about nepotism in hiring. It involved ex players. They said that nepotism and “hiring your buddy” is most definitely a thing in the NFL. I think it’s a pointless topic, but these guys were saying it’s just part of the NFL. Just like the real World, it’s who you know not what you know.
That’s how I got my current job. lol

I want to land David Bailey in the worst way, and at the moment, he’s projected to go in the 8-10 range of the Draft. IF we end up with FOUR 3rd round picks this Draft, I see no reason why we couldn’t move up a couple/few spots in the 1st round to land him.
I am NOT talking about trading all the way to the top for Mendoza… the price would be the moon and it’s not worth it.
The other wise idea would be to parlay some of these picks into a future pick in ’27… more ammo to land a franchise QB next season.
And of course, IF we end up with FOUR 3rd rounders, we could just use them to draft players this season, as Mike E suggested. No matter how one slices it, we want Anthony Weaver to end up as a HC this hiring cycle.
It also would give us another 3rd rounder in the ’27 Draft.

We have a lot to fill in on the roster. I would rather take a CB or RT in the 1st. With that extra 3rd we could double down at edge with Dani Dennis-Sutton, Malachi Lawrence, Zion Young or Derrick Moore.
