The first name to fall was an expected one, WR Tyreek Hill who very may not play for any team this season as he still has at least one more surgery and then of course rehab from that procedure. We heard Bradley Chubb’s name as well but he’s yet to be officially cut. A trade seems unlikely, Chubb is currently #11 in salary at his position which is a problem for a 30 year old pass rusher who was tied for 20th in sacks in 2025, and didn’t play in 2024. Teams will just wait for the inevitable cut rather than surrendering a valuable draft pick. These are the obstacles Sully is faced with while trying to improve the roster. Former Dolphins GM Chris Grier has left this team with a mess, and Jon Eric-Sullivan was hired to clean it up. Clean it up he will, but patience is necessary from the fanbase.
In case you didn’t know, NFL Free Agency precedes the Draft by a good month and change, as March 9th will be the day NFL Free Agency begins. More importantly for us, however is the NFL Combine which is just 3 days away, beginning on Sunday February 23 through March 2nd. Our roster will be chock full of drafted, and undrafted players from this upcoming draftand you can expect us to pick low level free agents at a few positions as well to fill in. Sully will have to be prudent while we’re all patient. You can’t realistically expect Sully and Haf to turn it all around in one season. I think the 2027 season we can expect improvement as we will have had 2 drafts to turn over some of the roster as well as having some cap space in ’27 to improve the roster some.
The Malik Willis to Miami talk never stops. I personally think that would be a mistake. We have Quinn Ewers, and we can add another QB in this draft and find an inexpensive veteran QB to round out the QB room and have a nice little competition there. Hey! What about Tua? What about him! All signs point to his exodus, whether it’s via some kind of unlikely trade or a very painful cut which will cost a monumental $99M!!! Even if we somehow find a trade partner we will have to absorb a major chunk of Tua’s salary. It’s the mistake that keeps on giving! Those of you faithful readers know and remember how I railed against giving him that contract and wanted to play him on his 5th year option. It doesn’t matter now, what’s done is done, we just have to take the pain and move on from the mistake that hopefully taught us how NOT to do things. I feel like signing Malik Willis would be a similar mistake, not as costly as Tua obviously, but a big mistake regardless. We should be in good position to draft a QB next year and there should be at least 5 first round QB’s such as Arch Manning, Dante Moore, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, DJ Lagway, Brendan Sorsby and Jyden Maiavia. Not all of these QB’s will be first round picks, but the point is that next season’s draft will be ripe with options, where this year’s draft has one legit 1st RD prospect that will be going #1 to either the Raiders or some team that pays a kings ransom to to the Raiders.
I’m excited about the combine, I haven’t really dove into the prospects yet, but once the combine gets going, I’ll really get into it and find my list of players I hope we get. The positions we need are everywhere, but I think priorities should be EDGE, CB, WR, OL, S and not necessarily in that order. All are important, premium positions, and since we cut Tyreek and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and looks like Bradley Chubb is next either via trade or cut, and Chop Robinson is our only EDGE rusher. At CB, we don’t really have a starter on the roster, so don’t be surprised if EDGE or CB is RD 1. The fact that Grier traded up for a complete dud so far in LG Jonah Savaiinaea, and he picked up a dud that played 3 snaps in James Daniels who was also cut, you can see how we may be busy on the O-line as well. Thanks Chris Grier, you fucked us dry you dirty dog! It’s a mess, but I’m confident Sully will be the right man to right the ship here, and Godspeed to him in doing so!

You could see his athleticism, but you could also see how much he struggled to actually play the right way. He was a mess in college. His speed made him look like he was flying all over the place, but it didn’t usually end well. Lol

Can you literally point to anything you’ve said that was based in any sort of fact for a counterpoint? Where’s your education on the matter? We’re you in the rooms when any of this was going down? If you actually had a legit counterpoint you wouldn’t resort to name-calling.
When has the NFL shown care for the safety of their players that wasn’t fearing a lawsuit? What is the history of this team when it comes to making good decisions, especially when it surrounded Tua’s health? They’ve shown none.
All of us are fans on this website who root for what’s best for this team. We share our opinions.
Here are the facts though. Tua was benched and his coach got fired. His new coach has shown absolutely no vote of confidence in him. He’s likely getting released and will probably be unemployed. He’s clearly affected mentally and physically to where his production dropped and he lost his starting job to a 7th round rookie. He’s had two very visibly awful responses to hits on the field and he’s only played a full season once. The offense was changed because he was a mess behind center.
Nothing good came from him staying on the field. Not personally and certainly not for this team. If everyone around Tua made the right decisions, then why is this franchise starting over again?

SB – Should the league really care about player safety all that much? I’m not being facetious. Where else are these athletes going to make this money? Did the Emperor care about gladiators? These guys know what they’re getting into, and if they didn’t know coming out of college, they find out soon enough. Tua was willing to take the risks to get paid, and paid he got. You don’t need to be a genius to think that his doctors, private doctors and even team doctors explained the risks of playing with concussions. If he didn’t seek that, then he’s an idiot and he gets what he deserves.
They’ve done a good a job as they could to pussify the game, think of the NFL in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s when anyone was fair game to get absolutely leveled by a full speed collision. How many of the players today would retire if they were told the NFL was going back to those rules? Probably a very small percentage. Do we have to worry for them? Fuck no, we don’t! Their choice

Just what I have been saying about QB Taylen Green. From an NFL scout at the combine, he said he would not take Green any earlier than the 6th round and even then you are just drafting him on athletic ability alone. It will take at least 3 years to develop him and you don’t know what that development is going to look like. Also said, “Green is a bit of an unknown from a developmental perspective since he’s never played in an NFL-style offense geared toward read progression”.
I put Taylen Green in the same boat as LaNorris Sellers. Two talented players who chose the wrong programs where their coaches failed them and didn’t teach them how to play the position and prepare them for the NFL. Sellers does have more upside. We will see if he improves this year.
Confirming previous reports, the Atlanta Falcons announced on Tuesday they will release Kirk Cousins.
Though, this release will be on March 11, the first day of the new league year. This way the Falcons can designate him a post 6/1 release.
This is also probably why the Dolphins haven’t officially cut Chubb. They have to wait until March 11 to designate him a post 6/1 cut.
This has me thinking both Chubb and Tua could be post 6/1 cuts. Tua will cost an extra 11.1m cap hit post 6/1 cut but Chubb will clear 20.2m with a post 6/1 cut. We will still clear 9.1m cutting both Chubb and Tua post 6/1. That is more than enough to sign the rookie class.
OTC has our 2027 cap space at 105.3m. Post 6/1 cuts of Tua and Chubb will clear another 40.3m in 2027 putting our 2027 cap space at a nice 145.6m

I don’t have a problem with hiring Aikman at all…hire as many guys as you like to get it right. My only question is what does Aikman provide that Marino doesn’t or can’t? Isn’t Marino still working for the team? Does Aikman have more current info because he’s still meeting with teams and keeping up with stuff for his job? As far as QB stuff, what’s the difference? They should both know how QBs should play or look.
More brains is usually helpful, but I did wonder about that.
I’m not sure if Marino really cares enough to dedicate a lot of time to the team. I recall they wanted to give him a high title years ago, he accepted at first and then stepped down

If he can learn to play with a lower center of gravity (knee bend), he could be a diamond in the rough.
Love his lateral movement, his ability to pull, and he seems to be very strong above the waist.
If he puts on a few more pounds of muscle below the waist, I could see him being a very good Tackle.
Just me, but I’m not keen on Guards being so tall (6’5″) and light in the pants (310 pounds). Why? Because of leverage factors.

SB. – We’ll have to disagree on this. A lot of these athletes are spoiled douchebags. They haven’t a care in the world like the players did years ago. They were fighting to keep their jobs because no matter how good they were they weren’t set for life like these guys are now. You see some guys retiring early because they want to have a better life and want to live a long life without being hobbled or having scrambled brains but for the most part they love the action, and really love the money. I feel like my main point was lost in this whole discussion. I just wanted Tua to retire for his family. My father died when I was really young due to poor decisions with his health and left 4 kids behind. I’m actually a year older now than he was when he died. We were on food stamps. I also have a daughter who’s been dealing with a brain injury for the last 2 years. She’s supposed to be driving, but she’s in a wheelchair.
Tua had already made his millions and could take care of his family without the next contract. IMO, Tua made poor decisions, the coaching staff made poor decisions, and the front office made poor decisions. There’s plenty of blame to go around. But hey, Grier, McDaniel, and Tua are all gone now so silver lining I guess?
We disagree that the owners are at fault. I don’t blame them. I blame the players who are almost 99.999% just looking out for their best interests, not the team or the NFL’s.

It’s not as important now to me, but I’m going to say it anyway because I was thinking about it. They flat out told the players that the Guardian Helmet, you know, the puffy one wrapped in canvas or whatever material it is, was the safest helmet and protects against concussions the best. Did Tua wear one? Nope. I know, his was the next safest choice, but still, why not just go with the safest of all because you could potentially do yourself serious and lasting harm? You’d have to ask him, and really all the players. I’d guess maybe 5% of the players wear those helmets if that.

As part of the NFL’s nine-game international schedule next season, the home teams for seven of the games have now been revealed.
The Commanders and Jaguars join the Los Angeles Rams (Melbourne), San Francisco 49ers (Mexico City), Dallas Cowboys (Rio de Janeiro), Detroit Lions (Munich) as the designated hosts.

Free-agent quarterback Malik Willis is likely headed toward a massive payday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Schultz reported Wednesday that Willis “is in demand,” and some around the league believe it’s a “foregone conclusion” he could get $30 million or more annually.
The 2022 third-round pick made three starts and appeared in 11 games with the Green Bay Packers over the past two seasons. He looked like a vastly different passer than the one who was cast aside by the Tennessee Titans.
Willis threw for 972 yards and six touchdowns to zero interceptions while filling in for Jordan Love.

I listened earlier, and I agree for the most part. I would put CB, EDGE, SAF, OG/OT, and TE in the top 5 and remove the QB. You get your QB when you can, so I put that position in its own column. Unless Waddle was moved, I wouldn’t put WR in the top 5, but we still need one, though.

Rich, yeah, a pay cut but like Crabbs said in the end of the video. Take the cut money and turn it into an incentive game bonus. He still gets paid if he is available and plays. We clear the 2026 cap and that incentive money (if reached) comes out at the end of the season from any carryover money or out of the 2027 cap that we have plenty of.
I could see them signing some free agents this way also. Sign them to vet minimum but give them some incentives that won’t count against this years cap. Some of those incentives will be easily attainable to insure they get paid.
Sign Dulcich to a vet minimum then give him 2m-3m in incentives.
Yea, I’m cool with incentives. If he reaches them, that means he played the majority of the season.
As for Dulcich, he would be the first guy I would re-sign.
I was reading an article earlier this week, and they brought up a couple players in free agency to keep an eye on. The two players mentioned were Rashan Gary (EDGE) and Ezra Cleveland (OG).
Rashan Gary still has 2 years left on his contract. Are the Packers going to release him? We certainly couldn’t afford him in a trade. He would be about a 19.5m cap hit.

Yep, I also would keep an eye on their backup Edge behind Gary, Kingsley Enagbare who is a free agent. Yeah, he was a backup but he has played 1896 snaps which is almost 44% of all defensive snaps over his first 4 years.
I wouldn’t adding another Seiler type DT. One of the guys I like there is having a good combine. Gracen Halton came in at 6’3 293 and ran a 4.82 forty. Also had the highest vertical and 3rd best broad of the DT’s.
The other is Zane Durant who came in at 6’1 290 and ran the fastest 40 of the DT’s at 4.75. Also finished 4th in vertical and 5th in broad.
No surprise, David Bailey has the best 40 time so far at 4.51. …Malachi Lawrence 2nd with 4.53.

My new guy Mason Reiger is did well except for his 4.78 forty but more importantly his 10 yard split was tied for 4th fastest at 1.61 seconds. He came in at 6’5 251, tied for second in vertical at 40″ and tied for 4th in broad at 10’5. He’s got power and a quick burst with that split time. I don’t care all that much about his 40 time as he has a nonstop motor.
M13, I think I mentioned a couple days ago that Jets were very interested in Edge David Bailey at #2. He’s crushing his combine. Also, the Jets just traded their Edge Jermaine Johnson II today to the Titans for NT Tre”Vondre Sweat. The Jets now need an Edge to play opposite Will McDonald.

Styles and Reese both with the fastest 40s today, 4.46!!!
Could you imagine having Sonny Styles on day 1 and Malachi Lawrence on day 2? Talk about freakish speed being added to our front 7 on defense.
FREAKISH numbers by both of ’em!
He had a 43.5” vertical and a 11’2” broad jump. Officially a combine freak!
Okay, so here’s where I’m at, early in the Combine after some very outstanding performances today…
Regarding Ohio State players (great recruitment, just like Alabama under Saban), I need to go back to the tape to see if a guy was the product of SO many successful players around them. And, did they get an artificial ‘boost’ with Matt Patricia being their DC (speaking about Reese and Styles, specifically)?
Regarding Matt Patricia (former NFL HC and coordinator), it’s good to see that Reese and Styles got pro-level coaching… that’s a PLUS. By the same token, that artificial ‘boost’ I’m talking about has to do with an NFL-savvy coach going against other coaches and coordinators who may never make it to the NFL.
It’s very difficult to ascertain who made who in situations such as this (again, see Saban and all the talent playing together on his teams). IMO, the Combine should make us go back to the tape (not the highlights!).
I don’t have the time tonight to watch Ohio State tape tonight, but you can very well bet I’m going to be watching a great deal of it between now and the Draft.
Gotta give props to Rich, who’s been touting Sonny Styles for quite some time here… he certainly didn’t disappoint today… and even though I don’t think we need to draft a LB so early, he might be… ‘the next Brian Urlacher’… something I’ve been chasing ever since Zach Thomas hung up his shoes.
And regarding Malachi Lawrence? He was always my backup plan to add a speed-rusher by the end of Day 2 of the Draft. Welp?!! Looks like he made $$$ today and is no longer a ‘backup plan’. I’ll be watching his tape more closely, and I don’t believe he ate off of others such as Ohio State players. JMO

Kingsley over Rashan every day of the week. Gary got paid and takes way too many plays off.
Kingsley is very solid and consistent all 4 years in the NFL even though not high sack #’s. He has played a lot of snaps as a backup. Hefley trusts him. We will see. His market value is not that high for an Edge.
Hate it but Lawrence and DDS improved their draft stocks yesterday. Lawrence maybe to late 1st round and DDS to 2nd round.
Rieger did as well, probably from a 7th to a 5th. I would still do it. Again, he reminds me of AVG.
Edge David Bailey ran an impressive 40 but what was more impressive is once he got up to top speed, he reached 22.91 mph.
That was per FOX Sports. The fastest in game speed last season was Jonathan Taylor at 22.38 mph. Of course, that is different than running a straight 40 with no pads after training for it, but still.
When a bunch of GM’s and scouts were polled at the combine on who was the #1 prospect in the draft, it was a tie between Fernando Mendoza and Caleb Downs.
One of the Scout’s said from interviewing Caleb Downs that he is the smartest (football smart) player he has ever covered in college football. Also said he is the “perfect Swiss Army Knife” and would not be surprised to see someone try to trade up for him.
