The 2026 Miami Dolphins are going into the 2026 NFL Draft knowing they need to hit on multiple picks. While that in and of itself can put pressure on the people responsible, the scouting department, the GM (Jon Eric Sullivan), and the Head Coach (Jeff Hafley), the expectations are low for wins and losses in 2026. Despite that, there is absolutely pressure on the trifecta mentioned above to improve the roster and right the ship as far as the NFL Salary Cap is concerned. I would expect more trades, shedding more big contracts, which is an unfortunate by product of irresponsibility by the former GM Chris Grier. Saying Ross wanted to win now does not excuse many of the mistakes Grier made to get us where we are now and that’s a big part of why he, and his scouting department are both gone.
We talk about the draft here quite often, and many of you post your Mock Drafts here often. Don’t take this wrong way, I know you guys know your stuff, but I laugh at nearly every single mock draft posted with trades, where the outcome is our Dolphins netting 12 or 13 picks from 8. No offense, but that’s just silly stuff. It’s not always easy to trade back, and it’s hard to trade back multiple times in one draft. These guys are trying to find players that can help this team immediately, plug and play guys for at least the first 3-5 picks, and managing that after trading back is probably an exercise in futility. As far as trading up, I 100% DO NOT think we’ll be doing that. Our number of picks are at a premium, and the consensus is this is not a top heavy draft, there are no real superstars in the top 10 that are significantly better than the players right behind them from 11-20. Yes, there are some players that are head and shoulders better than the rest at their position like QB Fernando Mendoza and RB Jeremiyah Love, but even that’s debatable. Some folks think the gap between QB’s Mendoza and Simpson is closer than others think. What I’m trying to point out is that I believe it could be very difficult to find a trade partner to move back, and with the amount of needs we have at so many positions, a trade up would be foolish.
Addressing the needs comes down to the most impactful positions of the game, which starts with the QB, and then the guys that can get to the QB on defense and those that can defend the receivers of the QB and just as important, the guys that protect the QB. In other words, QB, DE, OL and CB. That doesn’t mean that the other positions aren’t important, but those are the premium ones, and by OL, specifically the bookends, LT and RT, and by EDGE, depending on the scheme, either DE or OLB. Pass rushers that will disrupt the QB, and hopefully sack the QB, not just get into the vicinity as our age old discussion has raged on about pressures and sacks. If there was ever a poster boy for the argument that pressures are not even close to being as important as sacks, former Dolphins OLB Jaelan Phillips would be that guy. Phillips never finished a season with double digit sack totals but have 20 QB hurries in his best season in 2022 and for pressures, 36 in 2022, and believe it or not, 35 last season for two teams combines, Dolphins and Eagles, 18 with us, 17 for the Eagles. Always close, but rarely there. 116 “pressures” and 28 sacks 63 games. Ugh!
Which position we choose in RD 1 will obviously depend on who is still available. My feeling is we desperately need a legit starting CB, so my feeling is if either Mansoor Delane or even Jermod McCoy is there, one of them is coming off the board to us. Depending on the medicals with McCoy who didn’t play the 2025 season due to an ACL tear, I would hope for Delane, but McCoy is a fine CB who would be a starter here if healthy. Reuben Bain is a tenacious player who doesn’t test especially well and has very short arms for an edge rusher, which means if an OT gets his hands on him first with a longer reach, it’s hard for him to get free. That being said, Bain’s play in the playoff was excellent, and this against some top competition. Play tape is always king, and despite some rumors that he will fall to us, I expect him off the board in the top 8 picks.
Now to the other controversial debate, the QB position. I have made it clear that I don’t want us to spend big money on a free agent QB. I know Sully and especially Haf, know QB Malik Willis better than anyone else in the NFL. Haf had Willis run the scout team so the defense would be prepared for every QB they faced that week, and Willis simulated the style of that QB. If it were a $10M per season type of thing and they felt strongly that he could be a plus starter here for our Dolphins, that’s one thing. Coming off HUGE mistake giving a QB a ridiculous contract for no good reason, namely Tua’s 4 YR/$212.4M nightmare contract, I just can’t see following that up with a $30M per season flier on QB Malik Willis who was 2-1 with the Packers and 1-2 with the Titans. I’m more than happy to go with QB Quinn Ewers in 2026, but I would also like to draft a QB in this draft, and due to the fact that we happen to have three 3rd RD picks, I believe the 3rd RD would be the place to snatch QB Drew Allar. Evaluations in general do not favor him as an immediate starter. What they all say, however, is he has the prototype build, size, athleticism and arm strength. I understand that those things alone do not make a great QB. Courage, intelligence, tenacity, comprehension all combine to collectively become an “It” factor, and up to this point, Allar has yet to show he has “It”.
There are a lot of factors that can contribute to that, and an easy one is to look at the talent that surrounds the QB, and the coaching. Penn State did not give Allar elite receivers and they changed the Offensive Coordinator 3 times during his tenure. You either accept those as valid excuses or you don’t, but those are definitely negative contributors to how the QB plays. Some elite QB’s can overcome those things no doubt, but we’ve seen QB’s in the NFL struggle in their first contract with their draft team and then go on to have success in their second, third or even 4th stop. Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Geno Smith come to mind. One thing you can’t coach into a player is arm strength, size, and athleticism. If you’re 6’0 215, you can’t coach them to be 6’5 230 with a rocket arm. Have I been influenced by what I’ve seen in New England with Drake Maye? No question there. Drake Maye was a better prospect coming out, but still had that boom or bust label. I’d be much more comfortable taking Allar in RD 3 to see what we can do with him. Obviously, the QB class of 2027 will be better, but keep in mind they said that about 2026 last season. Dante Moore decided to go back and Arch Manning did as well. You never really know how things will shake out, and if our guys feel they can develop Allar, I’d be thrilled to have him here.
OK, now you guys can get back to your 15 pick (Tradey pants) Mock Drafts! Love you guys and much respect to all of you!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Lol…thank you, Mike E.!
Not a fan of Allar and I hope we find 3 starters with the our top 5 picks.
We have a 1, 2, and 3-3s, correct? All need to start….lol. Foundational perhaps.

NEW: Miami Dolphins releasing FB Alec Ingold, K Jason Sanders
I was waiting for both these to happen
@AdamSchefter
Source: Bills are releasing WR Curtis Samuel.
@flasportsbuzz
Among the Dolphins’ 30 free agents, they’ve shown interest in keeping several (besides Cam Goode, who re-signed). Among the others they would like to bring back, per a source: tight end Greg Dulcich, who was very productive after his promotion to the active roster on Oct. 22.
@TomPelissero
Packers edge Rashan Gary, who has been the subject of trade talks, announced his time in Green Bay is over. He was due $19.5 million in 2026 with no guaranteed money.
I laugh at nearly every single mock draft posted with trades, where the outcome is our Dolphins netting 12 or 13 picks from 8. No offense, but that’s just silly stuff
—–
LOL, it is.
Though, keep in mind. I believe a couple years ago the Packers traded down and went from 8 picks to 11 picks. It’s not out of their norm to trade down, they have done it more than once.
They have also traded down for more picks then traded back up for a player they wanted and still ended up with more picks.
Packers averaged about 10.5 picks a year over the last 5 years. That is from either trading players or trading down but not necessarily trading down in the 1st.

I do try to keep trade downs to end up with 11-12 picks. Most times I trade down twice, I am trying to get an extra pick to account for trading Minkah along with trading down in the 1st. This sim we commonly use does not let you trade players, at least not yet.
Re: Rashan Gary
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky later reported Gary “has not been told he will be released or traded” and that “his IG account was hacked.”
Carson Wentz is reportedly viewed as New York Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich’s main target at quarterback in free agency this offseason.

We can only hope
BBMike – I was hoping the Jets were all in on Tua! LOL
Would be nice also
There is a guy in the Santa Rosa County Jail named Peter Toogood. He’s in there for a failure to appear on a 2023 case. He’s from Houston, TX.
Sounds like a porn star name. lol
LOL, nice name, but not quite as good as Buck Sexton! 😆
Do you know who Buck Sexton is, BBM?
I know Son knows who he is.

If true, I think it’s disgusting that somebody would do that to another… so as to hack a social media account in order to sow chaos and falseness.
It’s happened to me before, so I know the feeling. 😡
Hopefully Buck Sexton isn’t like Jackson Hinkle. That guy is shitting up my timeline
Vikings center Ryan Kelly retires
Texans release Joe Mixon
Jason Sanders was making too much money, Alec Ingold didn’t really deliver. Good guy, just couldn’t really stay healthy and be effective for us. I wonder if we’re going to have a FB as a big part of our offense
I wonder as well. I would like to get Indiana TE/FB Riley Nowakowski in the 7th. I haven’t really checked out any other FB’s.
The Packers didn’t/don’t have a FB, but that’s not the offense we will be running.
He only played 1/3 of our offensive snaps last year. I don’t see it as a necessity. Nowakowski can fill that role but also line up inline as a TE. He’s 6’2, 250.
Nowakowski had 32 rec for 387 yards with 2 TD’s and rushed 2 times for 2 yards and 2 TD’s.
Yeah, don’t expect a traditional FB. If we need one for short yardage, they will use a big TE. We just need that big TE. LOL
BBM,
YES, I like Riley Nowakowski as well, if we’re going to replace Alec Ingold. The other guy I really like? Eli Heidenreich out of Navy. Both should be available as late day-3 prospects, IMO.
Is he a FB? He’s a little light for a FB at 198
See below. I was referring to TOUGH runners, not just the FB position, man.
Obviously, Nowakowski has the build as a classic FB. Yet, Heidenreich, only being 6’0″, 206, is just a STUD of a player.
Give me Nowakowski as our FB, and maybe Heidenreich as a short-yardage machine as a 3rd-down RB to compete with Ollie Gordon.
If I have it MY way? There’s no need to draft a RB this year. Just sayin’ that if we do, we have options on day 3.
FIX the O-Line, and we’ll have UDFAs run for over 1,000 yards.
I think Heidenreich can play anywhere, not FB though at 198 pounds. WR or RB, he’s fun to watch. 9.12 RAS.
He’s projected as a 7th rounder by most and a UDFA by NFL.com. If he’s a UDFA, I would snatch him up. Choice BTWN the 2 in the 7th, I am taking Nowakowski.
It’s possible both guys could be UDFA’s
Yes, tough to tell. I think both get drafted late though.
I don’t have RB as a position to draft even if one is BPA. I do think we need to try and upgrade the RB4 spot over Donovan Edwards with a UDFA. I was surprised they poached him.
What would you guys think of drafting Jonah Coleman and trying to use him as a FB?
I love the idea of converting a tailback who can run the ball to a FB
I would love to have a Arab that can add some yards on the ground
I wonder if maybe CJ Donaldson would fit foot in this role

Sheesh, I wasn’t projecting Heidenreich as a FB, guys! Who would do that with his weight?!! I lumped him into the convo of a late 3rd-day guy as a RB who is gritty and tough like FB Riley Nowakowski.
My bad for the confusion, but seriously?!!
If it’s anything like Green Bay, they will just use a blocking TE as a FB when needed.
Both Sully and Haf have been saying they’re building inside out. We have some playmakers. This team has to get more physical.
🤣
Wow, Maxx Crosby traded to the Ravens for ’26 and ’27 1st RD picks
wow. It was reported earlier that Lamar Jackson was hinting at something big, people were speculating. It was AJ Brown.
😳
WOW

What would you guys think of drafting Jonah Coleman and trying to use him as a FB?
————–
Man, I like Jonah Coleman a lot! IMO, he could become RB2 during the season. There is a reason he had 25 rushing TD’s over the last 2 seasons on a not so good team. He’s a beast and a good receiver also. I think he might go late 2nd round though.
Pats trade their starting Center Garrett Bradbury to the Bears for a 2027 5th.
One potential UDFA running back I like is a smaller one, Jamal Haynes 5’9 190. They say he runs around a 4.48. I think he is faster. At least whatever speed he has translates onto the field. He has a great burst and seems to have that next gear to break away. Good receiving back also. Sucks in pass pro.
Players who had a formal meeting with Dolphins staff at the combine:
CB Mansoor Delane
CB Jermod McCoy
CB Colton Hood
DE Ruebin Bain
DE Keldric Faulk
DT Peter Woods
QB Carson Beck
WR Antonio Williams
Dolphins also formally met with “Achane like” RB Demond Claiborne.
Dolphins had a personal visit with highly touted RT Jake Pope of Illinois State at his pro day.
Good convo about some OL players. PLUS, some bonus talk in the begging about sacks vs pressures. lol
I cut out the first 5min intro part.
Also, toward the end T-Stead says that he is training Penn State OT Nolan Rucci and said he was going to surprise people.
Randy, you need to get one of those hats Brandon Thorn is wearing. lol
BBM,
Hat? I have it tattooed on my forehead!

Sources: #Chargers star edge Khalil Mack, a likely Hall of Fame pass-rusher, is expected to sign back with the Chargers. He gets a 1-year deal.
He gets a 1-year, $18M deal that is fully guaranteed.
It seems that MANY Dolphins draftniks, prognosticators, and so-called ‘Draft gurus’ are predicting us to draft Drew Allar… most of ’em are sayin’ we should take him with one of our three 3rd round picks.
What’s the reason? Still young at 21 years old, prototypical pocket-passer size, his ability to scramble, great interviews (I can vouch for that), cannon arm, and there’s not a pro-throw he cannot make.
Listen… IF Bobby Slowick and our Offensive masterminds think we can turn Allar into a stud, I’m all for it… but it’s going to take time. He’s going to have to be slow-roasted, probably playing backup QB for a few seasons (that means more than 2 seasons) before he’s ready.
Hey, that’s the Packer way, right? Yes, yes it is… dating back to A-Rod… but that was with an incumbent star QB, by the way. We haven’t an incumbent star QB on our roster.
So when we’re projected to have a lousy season in ’26 (mulligan for Sully and Hafner) — and Quinn Ewers HAS upside — why would we blow a 3rd rounder on Allar when we’re likely drafting a franchise QB in the ’27 Draft, I ask?
We need meat & potatoes this year, with a smattering of some skill players with our 1st, 2nd, and three 3rd rounders in the ’26 Draft.
I MAINTAIN… if Allar is still there in the 4th, I’ll happily take him.
But like BBM, I’m really high on Baylor’s Sawyer Robinson on day 3. I’d sooner take Sawyer on day 3 over Allar on day 2. JMO
This how I feel. I don’t see where Allar is that special to take in the 3rd when he might be there in the 4th along with Robertson. Then there is Fagnano I like in the 7th.
My biggest worry is the only QB they were reported having a formal interview with at the combine was Beck.
I seriously hope they don’t draft Beck, especially if they do it in the 3rd.
OK, not trying to be silly here at all, but hear me out . . .
You guys would take Allar in the 4th RD, which is Pick #111
You WON’T take Allar with a 3rd RD Pick, which could be Pick #90
So you have artificially drawn a line in the sand because of what appears to be an important value like 3rd or 4th RD
There is NO more important position in the NFL than QB, and drafting a QB is so much better than either trading for one or paying one in Free Agency. If he turns out to be a player, no one will ever care what round he was drafted in. If he’s a dud, we’ve spent two picks a 2nd RD and 3rd RD on Jonah Savaiinaea last year, a 3rd RD pick on Channing Tindall, two 2nd RD picks on Liam Eichenberg and a 3rd RD pick on Hunter Long.
Now I have zero idea whether Sully and Haf even have Allar on their draft board, they might not like him in the least, but I just find the value of 3rd and 4th amusing because there’s not much of a difference between our 3rd RD and 4th RD picks, and if you think about it, if they are drafting Allar, then they definitely think they have something to work with which should be good enough for all of us.
MikeE,
To me, I need to hear the rationale behind picking Allar over other QBs. Why do you feel he’s better than some of the other guys folks have named here that will cost a whole lot less? What does Allar have that others who will cost less don’t have?
I have no desire to draft a QB, but if we are….why does it have to be Allar and why a 3rd rounder?
Our third third round pick is actually our 5th pick , so if they feel good about a qb why not 🤷🏻, especially if first 4 filled some holes
Gotta keep throwing darts at QBs until they get one! I don’t care when they draft them, just keep looking. Finally finding a QB will solve alot of problems.
I am hopeful this new regime won’t be wasting multiple picks on duds like Grief was so prone to do.
Man…..
I don’t wanna read rumors about my favorite player being traded.
I know Devon Achane’s shelf life is going to be short comparatively and most likely he has missed the window with this team
but he is my favorite player
I have crushed every NFL record with him on madden
multiple times
Jordy must have bought his jersey…
I bought his jersey year one
But I did not wear it
It was too big so I gave it to chef Warren
I actually have a waddle Jersey
** rushing records, obviously
Randy – Mostly for me it’s the size thing. Allar has the size an NFL QB should be. He has the arm and athleticism as well. We tried the 6’0 QB (Tua), and he didn’t last. Not that Justin Herbert who is 6’6 235 has reached the point where he’s a top 10 QB, but he’s on the rise, and is probably going to get better with Harbaugh, he already improved last season and should continue to in year 2 with John Harbaugh. Josh Allen, another big QB hasn’t yet won a SB but he’s a top 5 QB, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Herbert enters that top 10, maybe even top 5 territory. Drake Maye 6’4 225 in year 2 really improved and he also has the size and arm strength.
I really don’t want to draft a guy 6’2 or less, and I don’t want to spend an early pick on anyone in this draft like Ty Simpson (6’1) or Garret Nussmeier (6’2). Carson Beck had the best OL in College and some nice talent at Miami and was not the best QB by far. He has the size, but I don’t think he’s it. I’m definitely gambling with Allar, no question, but a 3rd RD gamble on a QB is far better than a 1st RD gamble. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I know Taylen Green is rated higher than Allar, but Allar has a bigger frame and I think is more sturdy, and Green has a crazy throwing motion not unlike Colin Kaepernick. I definitely think not having good receivers and not having a consistent offense due to 3 different OC’s hurt Allar’s development. That’s where I’m at. Not trying to get anyone on my bandwagon, just telling you what I hope happens
I’m going to be very careful about buying Dolphins merchandise from now on. I don’t think I’m going to buy any players jersey, they just don’t stick around long enough to be worth doing that
That’s why I bought my Marino throwback and was done buying jersey’s.
My son bought be a Zach Thomas Throwback, and that will be my go to. I also have an old 90’s style Marino jersey. I remember wearing that to Jet game at MetLife and a Jet fan said to me “You know he’s been retired for like 20 years, right?” It’s a damn shame!

I don’t know why people like Iggy 2.0. He’s DPI waiting to happen. Yeah, he cut back his penalties in 2025, he was still called for 30 DPI penalties in his college career. Why did those #’s drop off in 2025, because Ohio State only played 2 teams with top WR’s in their 14 games.
Mr. Grabby Grabberton is going to have serious problems in the NFL facing top WR’s every week.
30 DPI penalties and that does not count the ones that were declined.
Question for you DIY guys/gals here
When you’re putting up a ceiling fan, do you put the whole fan together first,
OR
Do you just get the wiring and the motor together and wire it up to the box and then attach the blades after it’s up?
I’ve always done the former, but the instructions say to do the latter
I don’t think it matters. Just might be easier with blades off. I have done it both ways.
It’s definitely lighter that way, no doubt. Maybe I’ll try it that way, despite the fact that I’ve done it the other way every other time. Maybe I’ll realize that it was stupid not to do it that way
Depends on how long ya want to be working over yer head .. I hate doing it so I would and do assemble before
MikeE, I would take Allar over Taylan Green or Carson Beck all day every day. Though you didn’t mention Sawyer Robertson who has all the attributes you mentioned you get with Allar. Robertson said he lost about 8 pounds training for the combine and plays closer to 225 pounds.
BTW, Robertson had no elite WR’s during his career either. Though, he had a very good receiving TE.
Robertson came in at 6’4, 216 at the combine. He had a 9.78 RAS score which is the 24th best for a QB since 1987.
One NFL scout said after the combine that Robertson has the ceiling of an NFL starter, though not elite. His floor is a long time backup QB, “think Case Keenum”.
His draft board ranking is close to the same as Allar’s, from a 3rd to a 6th. Though the majority of Allar’s Rankings are in the 5th, the majority of Robertson’s rankings are in the 6th. Allar has a higher ranking from draftbuzz in a very early 5th to Robertson’s late 6th. That’s about 50 spots.
This is just a tool, but most sites seem to view Allar with a higher ceiling than Robertson but both have the same floor. That’s how I see it.
I guess not being able to see how Allar would finish the season, I have become a homer for Robertson.
That’s why I think Allar in 4th and Robertson in 5th. If Sully and Co take him at #90, so be it. I would not be mad as long as they fix that damn OL.
This is also why I always trade down for more picks. One trade down is not out of the question. lol
What has me sick to my stomach is fear that we both come away pissed because they take Beck with Allar and Robertson still on the board.
Hopefully they came away from their formal interview with him thinking Beck is a cheesedick. lol
LOL
I always have put blades on after. I know I’d just get mad banging into them trying to attach the thing to the ceiling. I’ve never had help so maybe with 2 people I would put them on before…….
Watching both Allar and Robertson this afternoon. Allar has the upper hand in arm strength, I don’t think it is that close especially on deep throws. You can see the velocity with Allar, seems more effortless. Robertson has a quicker release and seems to have a little better ball placement in tight windows. Escaping the pocket, I would give the edge to Robertson. Though, it looks like it is more timely decision making than athletic ability when escaping the pocket. Robertson has more agility when running. Both seem to process the field the same. Robertson can sometimes lock on to #1 too long.
I do see the higher upside with Allar just due to his arm strength. It’s a coin flip for me.
I definitely do not see Green or Beck being on the same level as either of Allar or Robertson.
I saw one throw Allar made that made me go Wow, why don’t we see more of that?
I think it was in 2024, it was a 50+ yard in air dime where it looked like he barely was throwing the ball, effortless. I bet he can throw it 60+ easily and with decent accuracy from watching that throw.

———–
Case Keenum reference!!! There ya go, just sign Case Keenum, dammit!!! Problems solved!!! 😀 😉
Again, regarding Drew Allar: he’s going to be a project no matter how one slices it. I’ll roll with Sully and Hafner if they believe he’s worthy of one of our 3rd round picks, but I think it’s wishful thinking… and I’m a PSU fan. I’d take him in the 4th round if he’s still there, but that’s just me and my $.02.
I don’t expect to win many games in ’26 and that’s just a REAL possibility. Thus, I think and believe we’ll be drafting a franchise QB in the ’27 Draft. And that guy we draft in ’27 (a DEEP QB draft) is probably going to beat Allar out in a QB competition by a country mile.
In the meantime? I’d rather address EDGE, the O-Line, CB, S, and a taller WR with our first 5 picks in the ’26 Draft.
Just my preference and the way I’d build a team for future competition And the other thing? We can get decent QBs on day 3 of this Draft… like BBM, I’m really liking Sawyer Robertson.
And remember something(!)… the NFL is trending toward spread-read QBs who are fleet on their feet. I don’t like it, but it is what it is. The days of the former prototypical-sized QB are coming to an end… at least in the moment.
Everyone after Mendoza is a project, IMO. Even Mendoza has some things to work on, especially his back shoulder throws.
Robertson is highly influenced by Mike Leach. Then Robertson transferred to Baylor after Leach passed away. Leach was king of the Air Raid offense.
That was another thing watching the Allar tape. I am no expert, but I would watch where he is looking after the snap and his #1 read would be in a crowd of defenders and he would take the #2 to the TE instead or even a check down.
Maybe I am looking at it wrong because I don’t know the plays, but it seems like their route patterns caused crowding of defenders in the area of the primary target. Maybe Allar wasn’t looking off defenders enough. I don’t know, but it seems there were always defenders crowding an area and it was because of the route patterns. Like, they would have 3 targets in the same area so the QB would only have to scan that area of the field and not the whole field.
@TomPelissero
Veteran fullback Alec Ingold is signing a two-year, $7.5 million deal with the Chargers, sources tell The Insiders. Ingold gets $3.9M in Year 1 and his $3.75M APY puts him in a tie as the NFL’s highest-paid fullback…
———
Reunited with Capri McD as a Charger.
This is not a surprise. I am happy for Ingold. I wonder if he will still be gun shy like he was after the concussion or if he is past that.
I’m happy for Ingold, too! Fan favorite for a great many.
NFLN is talking about FAs. They suggest J. Phillips is second best after Malik Willis…another joke. But, they showed highlights of Phillips, and I think they showed all 5…yeah 5….sacks he had last year but talk about all his pressures. LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL Mr. Almost.
I don’t understand all the hype around Jaelan Phillips. When we traded him to the Eaglets* mid-season, the NFL world was talking as though Phillips was the second-coming of Lawrence Freakin’ Taylor! What???
Crazy!
Commanders need an Edge. Rumors are they are looking at Phillips. This would fill a need and one less team to take Bain or Bailey before us.
M13,
I think NFL teams still want a QB who can control the game from the pocket. But, with how teams run offenses these days they also need a guy who can move a little. Guys like Stafford and Maye are still viable. There are lots of pocket passers in the NFL. Guys like Mahomes, Allen, Darnold and several others are all pocket passers.
I disagree. You named Mahomes, Allen (unicorn), Arnold, and “several others”.
Let’s say “several others” refers to 5 more QBs (maybe we’ll put Stafford and Maye in that lot). We’ll call that 8 total QBs of the breed we’re referring to.
8 out of 32 QBs? Now we’re talking about a mere 25% of the league… that’s a massive minority %, Brother.
Not trying to be argumentative at all… just sayin’.
Your answer implies that the other 75% are not pocket passers. While I am too lazy to do the actual research, I suspect that the majority of starting QB are “pocket passers” albeit not elite or upper echelon as those mentioned. I think there are only a handful of the smallish, running QB starting in the league.
M, I responded again above to your 8:48 post.
Yup, regarding Leach. I hear ya, man.
And I love history… the father of the “Air Raid Offense”.
M13,
The NFL has created a fantastic hype machine, that’s how. Lol
TOO right, Randy!!! That’s right! 😀
NFL and media
M13,
I could have named about a dozen more QBs. I just didn’t want to. Lol
Prescott. Herbert. Purdy. Lawrence. Goff. Burrow. Hurts. The list goes on. Actually, the NFL is still mostly pocket passers.
Are you now making a case for drafting Drew Allar? 🤔
I’m FINE with drafting Allar, just not on day 2.
I prefer athletic/mobile pocket passers, not guys like Malik Willis or Taylan Green. Even Lamar Jackson has become more of a pocket passer than from his early years.
Here’s another thought I just had. Being this draft class is so devoid of QB talent, cats like Drew Allar are going to be artificially pushed up.
Conversely, this Draft is loaded at certain positions… positions we NEED to build with.
100%, we aren’t the only QB needy team and not every QB needy team is going to have a top 5 pick next year.
M13,
Nope. I have always favored big, strong pocket passers. Small, injury prone and running a lot is not a recipe for success in the NFL. But, I also want a guy who makes good decisions. That’s the first step. It doesn’t matter how strong your arm is if you constantly make bad decisions on how to use it.
I’m not a fan of Allar because I’ve watched him play a bunch of times and never came away impressed. He always looked very average to me. But, if they really feel like he’s their guy, then draft the kid. Everybody deserves a chance to get better and the benefit of the doubt.
I wouldn’t have drafted Jonah either, but I gave it to him too. 🙂
I’m with ya, Randy. Obviously, I’m not Allar’s agent, being I wouldn’t take him until day 3.
But I AM (LOL) CASE KEENUM’S agent! 😆
BBM,
You see the latest mock draft from Tankathon? WOOOOOOO!!!
DON’T LIKE Michael Trigg (he has an even worse drop rate than Kenyon Sadiq… didn’t think it was possible), and I don’t want Carson Beck, either.
Aside from that (we can do better), NICE!!!
Alright…
NICE!!!
Yeah, not bad until you get to Trigg. Trigg does have some drops, but he is a very good route runner. My biggest thing on him is he is NOT an inline TE and can’t run block for shit.
Ugh, another site projecting Beck to us. I hate it!
Lastly, no OL or Edge in our first 6 picks would not be good.
I like the first 4 though!
DEFINITELY (IMO) need to draft an O-Lineman and/or EDGE before day 3 begins.
I think Randy would concur.
I have gotten to the point where I don’t think we need to double down on CB anymore like I have in some of my mocks.
If he can stay healthy, I have JuJu Brents having a breakout season. Then we still have Duck, Marshall, Bonner, etc. Get Delane and hope one of these others make a jump.
The CB we gave a futures contract to, from the Pats, Miles Battle is also very interesting.
I’ve never thought we needed to double-down at the CB position. But by the same token, I’ve always had the hope we’d bring back one of Rasul Douglas or Jack Jones.
Doesn’t matter… I honestly don’t feel we need to double on CB early. JuJu Brents has the potential to become an all-world CB, IMO.
Gotta hit the hay. Great convos, and we’ll see the first action in a while TOMORROW @ noon!!!
Though it was in a game already over, Miles Battle owned Keon Coleman. Battle is 6’3, 197 and runs a 4.37.
He was one of the first guys JES signed.
If we were to double down at CB, a potential 7th round DB I like as a potential slot CB is Jadon Canady. He plays slot CB but also as a 3rd safety for Oregon. He’s a bit small at 5’10, 183 but a good/smart football player.
The Los Angeles Rams not only traded for Trent McDuffie – they just made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.
The Rams and McDuffie agreed to a four-year, $124 million extension, including $100 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
———
That’s just ridiculous, 31m per year.
The Bills announced on Friday that they released cornerback Taron Johnson, but he had yet to officially hit the wire when the Raiders swooped in to trade for him. According to NFL Media, Las Vegas will acquire Johnson in a sixth-round and seventh-round pick swap.
We haven’t resigned any of our TE’s. Besides needing 2 starting OG’s the Chargers also need TE depth after Gadsden. I bet they have an offer in for Julian Hill first thing tomorrow since he is familiar with MM’s system.
Boom! Tua has been cut! Post June 1st designation, but the nightmare is over!
it’s hard to say the nightmare is over with that cap hit
and we still have to find a QB
It’s not hard at all. He was preventing this team from winning and he’s off the team now. We were paying him either way, I’d rather pay him off the team than on it!
Boom! Minkah Fitzpatrick traded! 7th RD pick, but Jets take all of Minkah’s salary
It’s another new day for the Dolphins……Fucking ay!!!!
It is time to draft and develop!
Mike
if you think releasing Tua makes us a good team you are being woefully naive
Piggy – His attitude sucked! His play sucked. I think we are a better team that we have realized those things and moved on. If you don’t realize those things, you’re out of your mind!
Releasing Tua doesn’t make us a better team. Not having him as our QB makes us a better team.
Would he have stayed on to be a cheerleader? lol
I wouldn’t be against taking a QB at 11 if they like someone. Why not.
the only realistic option is Ty Simpson
and I wouldn’t take him
I think you are getting much more value out of a defensive player or OL with that pick
Ugh. We are a much worse team today than we were yesterday. I hate giving away good players and giving away Minkah to one of our most hated foes sounds awful in just about any way you could describe it. You won’t find similar talent in the 7th. This team will be all kinds of awful this year, but I guess it will be worth the pain for a franchise QB. At least this regime seems to know what one looks like.
These are the pains we need to go through to clear up our cap situation. Personally, not a fan of Minkah, and he’s not really that good either. He’s better than average though
I think trading FFF to the Jets is the ultimate disrespect. They hey are so irrelevant that we can give them Miami starters.
Mike
I don’t want Tua to stay. Actually I think the new GM made the right decision of how to proceed
but our nightmare is far from over – that’s my point
we have to find a franchise QB and the team is filled with holes right now
we aren’t even close to the e halfway mark of getting through this. Parting ways with bad players is not an accomplishment. I don’t think we are in a great place of our fan base is celebrating who we fired or waived instead of who we have brought in
This I completely understand, but I’ve turned the page already on that. To better things from here on in! Cutting the chaffe is a necessary evil, especially since our former GM put us in a hole with the cap. You know how much I despised the way Tua played, played to stay healthy, putting his health above the success of the team. I couldn’t stand that. Minkah was selfish his first time here asking to be traded because he didn’t like the way he was being used. I have nothing for players like that. The faster they’re gone the happier I am
I hate only getting a 7th for Minkah
I also hate giving him to the jests
the only good thing I see from this is that I hey take his salary too
a replacement for Minkah who will probably be available with that 7th rounder
add him too
who do we have under contract now at safety?
both Ashton Davis and Melifonwi signed 1 year deals last season
the only guy I se under contract is Dante Trader?
I guess we are drafting multiple DBs
that’s fine – I think the safety group looks deep
Yeah, I could actually see them drafting two safeties and only one CB this year.
also
before anyone asks
I have never owned a Tua or Minkah jersey
I have 2 Marino jerseys, an aqua and white one; a Ricky Williams aqua one; a Sam Madison aqua one; and an orange Reggie Bush one that was on discount. LOL. … Nothing since Reggie left the team.
Malik come on down!!!!
3 yrs, 67.5 M, 45 guaranteed
LOL, Phillips going to Carolina for 30M a year. Um, no thanks.
we just signed Malik Willis….that was unexpected
And my hope dies in the womb.
Oh man, I was loving what these guys were doing and now we sign Malik Willis. He better be the shit!
Oof…..hope he stays healthy!
I am not super happy or super bummed. Personally I would not have signed him. Just my preference tho.
This doesn’t really change much. They can still draft a QB on day 3 this year and/or in the 1st round next year. If Willis works out, great, but at the very least you have a vet for 2 years while your 2027 first-rounder sits and learns. Got to look at the positives….
We basically have a 3 year window to win with Willis and we have zero on the roster. I hate to hate on the new guys, but why?
I could see Miami looking at an offensive weapon for Willis early on now. I just hope it’s not a first round WR.
I’m hoping for early OL help and then draft a guy like Antonio Williams or Ted Hurst in the 3rd.
Chiefs signing ex-Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III
I am waiting to hear them designate Chubb a post 6/1 cut.
We will have that extra 2026 cap hit on Tua at 11.1m. We don’t have that right now and especially when the Malik Willis contract hits.
A post 6/1 cut on Chubb will clear 20.2m and that will take care of the extra Tua money and have more than enough to sign all the rookies.
I still think they are trying to trade Chubb and wanting that team to take on more of his salary for a lesser pick like they did with Minkah.
I hate the Malik Willis deal! That kind of cements him in as #1. Ewers is not even going to get a fair chance. Willis gets 45m guaranteed. With our cap situation, I bet it is loaded on the back end.
This is a Justin Fields deal. I hope it works out better for us than their experiment.
The difference between this and fields is that the coaches here know exactly what they are getting

———–
Or Trey Lance or Jeff Caldwell in the 4th. Eric McAlister in the 5th
I guess at least we have a QB who can run his ass off.
Well, he has averaged 5.5 yards per rush and rushed for 4 TDs…2 less than he’s thrown for…..so we for that going for us.
I foresee a lot of run option.
Wow lots of wild stuff going on. Well now we know our new regime thinks highly of Malik Willis. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m not happy with it. They gave him a 3 year deal, the roster is going to be less than average this season most likely, even with a great draft. At first glance, this move was shortsighted.
Well Sully did say QB is the most important position in sports. We shall see.
Fitzpatrick will sign a three-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, agent Drew Rosenhaus told Schefter.
———
We get the Chargers 7th round pick from the Jets and not the Jets own 7th rounder so it’s an even later pick projected at #237. I guess that late it doesn’t matter much.
It was more about his contract so at least we got something.
I would like to hear their rationale for this move. I hope we don’t hear pablum as we usually do. I’d like to hear them make sense of this move.
I don’t like the Willis move at all. It is not like the Packer offensive coaches are coming with him. I am afraid that Lafleur got the best out of him and this may end up like a Matt Flynn situation. Hopefully the contract is easy to get out of after 1 or 2 years.
I hope it’s just like Matt Flynn
the Seahawks drafted Russel Wilson the same year they signed Flynn (2012)
then they won their first Super Bowl in 2013
LOL, it feels like the same old same old, with fans not liking the personal move. Personally, I don’t have a positive or negative view of the Willis signing. I’m just going to wait and see what the big picture will be, which might take a couple years.
Sam Darnold has got everybody thinking every QB can be a successful reclamation project. The NFL is such a knee jerk league.
the Seahawks regime tried to sign Matt Flynn once upon a time – and he didn’t do much for them
they later signed Geno Smith and gave him new life but didn’t get where they wanted
not every chance you take works
but you have to keep taking those chances
I don’t see the Willis signing as changing the likelihood that we draft a QB
in the first round of the 2027 draft
if he plays lights out that’s one thing but I see this more as a steady the shop kind of move
also
this was obviously the plan at QB all along
to waive Tua and sign your starting QB on the first day of free agency indicates this was the plan all along
^
Raiders are signing Center Tyler Linderbaum to 3yr 81m deal. Centers making big money now. Should have tried an extension on Brewer before the market blew up.
