2026 NFL Draft is less than 3 weeks away!

The NFL Draft has always been an exciting event, and this year will be no different. It’s amazing to me that we were excited about it all through the Chris Grier years when every year all we got was disappointment. Part of that issue was Chris Grier, and the other part of the equation was the Head Coaches chosen by Chris Grier. This year I think it will be different as we have to two men mostly in lockstep in regards to what they want to do with this team, and the image they want to create here in Miami. After years of frustration, disappointment and agony of poor draft choices, countless trade-ups for the wrong players, I believe the 2 gentlemen pictured above are going to bring us a very successful draft haul in 2026, and beyond.

One thing I feel quite certain about is we won’t be squandering any picks, and I still believe it’s possible that we have another trade of a player on the roster now for either picks in this coming 2026 NFL Draft, or for a 2027 NFL Draft pick or two. Yes, they have said Achane is off the market, but as soon as someone offers the right price, likely a late 1st RD or early 2nd RD pick in this draft, or a 1st RD in 2027, Achane is as good as gone. I also believe ILB Jordyn Brooks may go to Dallas, especially if the Cowboys are targeting a LB that they can’t get in RD 1, and that would likely end up being a 2nd RD pick, which I’d gladly welcome. I know there was talk about having too many draft picks is a bad thing, but it’s certainly won’t be if you choose the right players. A good deal of players drafted within rounds 1-3 will be starting somewhere in the NFL. Keep in mind if the GM and HC are on the same page, and I believe that to be the case here in Miami, HC Jeff Hafley will already have an idea how they plan to use that player and how to get that player where he needs to be in order to be ready to help the team immediately. That’s the thing, we’re not only building the roster, but many of the players drafted will be counted on to play NOW!

When building a team, you don’t look to a WR or a RB, sorry! I don’t care how much you think we need a WR, we’re not taking one at #11, and probably not at #30 either. I’ll say this, I wouldn’t be angry at #30, but I will flip if they choose a WR at #11. Is there a possibility we trade back? That would require a team to really want a player at our spot, and an agreement on either a player or draft capital to switch spots. I think that’s possible, but what I truly don’t see is us moving up and trading away picks to do so. Now I wouldn’t object to trading up using a player, such as the previously mentioned ILB Jordyn Brooks or RB De’Von Achane, but I wouldn’t bet us using precious draft capital to move up. I could also see trading back to acquire future draft picks, especially 2027 NFL Draft picks considering the QB talent available in 2027.

I’m always excited about the NFL Draft, I was commiserating with my coworker who is a Jets fan. It’s amazing that both of us love the draft so much even though when all it’s done is bring us misery. It makes me completely understand and empathize with Charlie Brown as he goes to kick that football each and every time knowing Lucy is going to snatch it away at the very last second and end up on his backside. We’ve been doing it forever, it’s annual rite of passage or punishment as it turns out. I really do feel differently this year, I am so confident we’re going to do things right that if Sully and Haf screw this up, instead of just falling on my backside I might get a C-c-c-c-con-cussion. I think we’re going to be just fine though, fixing the O-line, finding a pass rusher or two, a CB that can start immediately, maybe a S to pair with S Dante Trader, and if we do trade Jordyn Brooks, an ILB that will potentially be a here for the next 5-10 years like Sonny Styles.

I might make an exception on Jermod McCoy. Why? As Mike E brought up several months ago, Frank Gore tore up his ACL twice in college… and still went on to have a very productive and long NFL career.

Modern day surgery/medicine has advanced so much over the last couple of decades.

looking at our ESPN depth I’m giving my estimated draft needs

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

QB, RB good enough for 2026

FB we have no one, and I’ve heard we need one for this O, so we’ll have to draft one, if true

WR depth is ok, need a #1 WR, so 1st or 2nd rd (that’s the need, but not what I’d do)

TE depth is ok, need #1, I wouldn’t draft a possible #1 this year

OL need at least 1 OG, expect Jonah to take a step (not next step, because he hasn’t taken the first one yet)

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

DL have heard this D will need 1 more

      Edge need a starter

      LB ok for 2026

      CB need 2 starters

      S need 1 starter

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

rd 1 pick 11 OL pick 30 S or CB based on BPA with CB the more prominent need

rd 2 CB or S based on what was selected rd 1

rd 3 in order of picks WR, E, CB, DT

    *******

Parker is unquestionably a 1st round talent – he would be a great pick at 30

if he came out in 2025 he might be a top 20 pick

as far as LB goes – yes I think it’s a need. Everything is a need

  19. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Jonah played with no confidence last year, his college reel shows him playing with confidence

most rookie OL struggle, not to the extent he did, but many of them make a huge yr 2 jump

would be nice, if he was at least serviceable for a yr or 2

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

He looked completely lost most of the year. Not just playing without confidence, he looked like he didn’t know WTF was going on. He’d launch himself two steps down field (only allowed ONE step in the NFL) and stand there looking around while free runners ran past him into the back field.

It reminded me of the scene in World War Z where the zombies would ignore the sick people and just flow around them. Jonah was a sick ass and the zombies were the defenders swarming past him.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

But yes, HOPEFULLY he makes a jump to at very least a serviceable lineman.

  20. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Jonah looked pretty much the same as he looked in college, to me. His issues were just exploited because he stepped up a level. I’m all in on letting him develop another year, but his issues were there to start….and he really didn’t improve on them at all last year. Young guy…another year…let’s see what happens.

  21. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    piggy,

I like the top 4 picks or so of that last draft. I don’t know many of the latter players.

  22. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I bet Mauigoa falls to us, hopefully we take him

then everything should fall into place nicely

    take WR ok

    take LB ok

take S or CB ok, even Edge at 30

you might be right about safety

I heard Sully asked in sooner to what is the hardest position to evaluate – and he said “it used to be safety”.

but mentioned that change bc there is more to evaluate based on technology changing – which I guess means you can watch more of them now even when they aren’t a factor in making a big play

if they feel strongly about safety and Caleb Downs fell to us at 11 – which is unquestionably a possibility, that might be dream come true for them

    me too

but I’m warming up to the idea of taking Iaone at 11

    ———–

Some may have noticed over the years that I really do take my PSU-biased love out of the equation regarding the Draft: I didn’t over-hype Micah Parsons, nor did I over-hype Tyler Warren… though both were man-crushes for me.

Vega Iaone? He might just be the best Guard in the entire Draft… he’s a serious BEAST. If he’s on our ‘wish-list’, I’d be afraid to trade down even slightly being somebody may take him before us (Ravens, for example).

YES… there is a world where we take Iaone @ R1P11.

If we pass on Iaone, then give me PREGNON later.

Just sayin’ that I personally can’t allow MY personal PSU biases influence my draft judgements… I’d never be taken seriously if I always listed PSU cats at the top of every position… know what I mean? 🙂

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

IF I’m reading Coach Hafley and GM Sully correctly what with their ‘Green Bay Way’, they like the features of a hard-nosed, PSU-esque team.

I truly see Vega, DDS, and potentially Kaytron Allen as potential picks for us.

  30. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    @Schultz_Report

Source: Toledo S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren is currently visiting the Dolphins after concluding recent visits with the Patriots, Browns, Cowboys and Falcons — and finishes with the Steelers tomorrow. The former All-American has a strong chance to become a 1st-round pick.

  31. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

OH! It was supposed to be tomorrow (Friday), per Ian Rapoport…

    @MikeGarafolo

Miami OT Francis Mauigoa’s recheck is complete, with no new issues or concerns, source says. After the request for a recheck was made in early March, Mauigoa met/visited with teams in the top third of the first round, an sign of his confidence any concerns would be satisfied.

  32. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Interesting from WQAM yesterday, when Joe Rose had Chris Perkins on his show. Perkins thinks Zach Sieler may be on the trade block… whether be during the Draft, or even before the trade-deadline.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So the rumor-mill has us potentially trading Achane (if the price is right), Jordyn Brooks (Cowboys are rumored), and now Sieler.

      It’s smoke season!

  33. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I like Mauigoa. I’m not sure how he’d be at tackle. His lateral quickness is good but not great. He might be a little more prone to giving up the corner against NFL players. He tends to let guys get into him a little too much. Good hands though.

At guard, I think his shortcomings are mitigated a bit, but he misses a lot of blocks in space. I’m just not really sure. I wish there were a little more film on him at guard. He wouldn’t be bad. I’m just not sure how good he’d be either.

Is he supposed to be there? I thought people were saying he was a top 5-10 pick? I’d still take Ioane. He’s special. Mauigoa is not. He gives you the tackle option, but I don’t see elite tackle. Ioane is potentially Quinton Nelson.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Quenton Nelson is what Kyle Crabbs said about Vega today. Ooooooh… I’m not sure I’d go THAT far, but yeah, Vega could potentially become a top-5 Guard in the NFL. Depends on who ya talk to.

I’m high on Vega, but not nearly as high on him as I was Quenton Nelson.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Seriously, Quenton Nelson will likely make the HOF. I think it’s reckless to make player comparisons like that.

And even if it’s true? Then Vega should be a top-10 draft pick, IMO.

Vega’s a funkin’ STUD, to be sure… but that’s really an insane assumption/projection.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I heard some one else make that comparison too

  34. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    M13,

Settle. Getting upset about player comparisons is a bit dramatic, don’t ya think? Nelson is a good guard….but it’s not like he set the mold for guard play. I’m comfortable saying he has the potential to be as good as Nelson. That isn’t the same as saying he will be. See the difference?

  35. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

When I think of great OG’s, I think of Steve Hutchinson. It didn’t hurt at all that he played next to what could have been one of the best LT’s in the history of the game as well, Walter Jones

  38. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I did one a little while ago where Mauigoa and Styles were both on the board at #11 and Dallas offered up a 27 2nd round pick to move up from #12. I took the trade and they picked Mauigoa so I picked Styles. I then go screwed and was not able to get any of the top 10 Olinemen. I wound up getting Young as edge and McNeil-Warren at safety, but the rest of the draft went for shit and I would have had to trade up to get my Oline.

  39. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I hope this is your typical smoke screen:

Jordan Reid of ESPN said, “Sources have told me the Dolphins are big fans of Utah lineman Spencer Fano and would take him at No. 11. The team loves his versatility, believing he can play any interior spot or be a plug-and-play starter at right tackle. Austin Jackson is entering a contract year, and there are a lot of question marks surrounding his durability. New front offices have leaned on selecting an offensive lineman to start their tenure, so this pairing makes a lot of sense.”

RIP Jovanny Pedrosa! I just got back from NC. My daughters husband Jovanny passed away at 35yo from a battle with flesh eating bacteria. He leaves behind my daughter also 35 and my granddaughter age 6. I am still in shock and they still don’t know what the source was where he contracted that bacteria. What sucks most about it is he had been on dialysis for several years now. Got a donor lined up from the family and was waiting on a transplant surgery date this spring at Duke University. Unfortunately, he contracted this infection a month ago and lost his battle Tuesday morning while we were driving up there. He woke up from a nap Monday evening and told my daughter that he saw angels in a long hallway. He then told her he wasn’t going to make it and then he called me just to tell me he wasn’t going to make it and that he loved me.

If there was a blueprint of the type of man you would want your daughter to find and marry, Jovanny Pedrosa is that blueprint. I could go on and on, but, to sum it up, he was an amazing human being, husband and father!

  42. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I see Mauigoa as a guard to start with the ability to kick him out to tackle if we do not re-up Jackson. I would start him out on the right side. Keep Fat Jonah at LG (with competition). As long as Jackson stays healthy this season we could have a very good line.

  43. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The Justice Department has opened an investigation into whether the National Football League has engaged in anticompetitive tactics amid complaints that watching football has become too expensive, according to people familiar with the situation.

  44. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Going back, there is no way we trade Sieler. We will incur an extra 3.3m cap hit this year with a draft day trade. A post 6/1 trade prior to the trade deadline would be even worse. He has a 14m option bonus that is going to kick in that would increase his cap hit this year by 7.9m and add a 9.6m dead cap to next year.

They have an out in 2027 and can actually clear a good chuck of cap then. Only way I see it happening this year is if it is some good compensation.

  48. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL @ Fat Jonah – Chris Grier

Only once, once in EIGHT fucking times he traded up during a draft did he get one right, his very first one

2016 Xavien Howard – Traded 2 picks to move up in RD 2

2016 But, Grier figured out a way to fuck that to pieces in the very same draft by sending a 2016 6th RD, 2017 4th RD and 2017 3rd RD to move up in RD 3 for WR Leonte Carroo

2017 Traded picks with the Eagles to draft OG Isaac Asiata and DT Vincent Taylor

2020 Traded a 2020 5th RD and 2020 7th RD to draft DE Curtis Weaver

2020 Grier continued to fuck another draft trading 2 4th RD picks to draft OG Solomon Kindley

2021 Trades 2021 #12 and a 2021 4th RD pick as well as a 2022 1st RD pick to move up to draft WR Jaylen Waddle

2021 Not learning from his 2020 disaster of a draft, Grier felt like maybe he could top this one as his worst so he traded a 2021 2nd RD pick and a 2022 rd RD pick to move up to draft OL Liam Eichenberg

2025 Grier searched far and wide to find the absolute worst rookie OL in the draft and decided to move up by trading their 2nd RD pick (#48), 3rd RD pick (#98)and a 4th RD pick (#135) to pick up OG Jonah Saviinaea.

What an absolute fucking disastrous record of trade ups. Someone in this organization should have had a leash on that fucking moron. If he decided he was going to trade up they should have blocked him, absolutely forbade him from doing so with that train wreck of a track record of trade ups

One of the only pieces of Miami memorabilia i have is a signed Larry Little card. He went from not even being drafted…to getting traded….to the HOF. 7 pro bowls and 5 all pro seasons. One of my favorite Dolphins and one of the best guards in NFL history.

Kuechenberg, Langer and Little. Man, what a nice front three.

Ryder did a dive on the packers draft history in relation to their top 30 visits. I noticed it but didn’t post it, but both TE’s Greg Dulcich and Ben Sims were top 30 visits of the packers in the past. They already liked them.

Others on the roster who were former top 30 visits for the Packers:

FS Omar Brown who we signed to a futures contract.

CB Jason Marshall who we drafted last year.

There are a couple others but can’t remember who. Just thought it was interesting because Hafley already liked Jason Marshall and now he’s got him here.

    M13,

Settle. Getting upset about player comparisons is a bit dramatic, don’t ya think? Nelson is a good guard….but it’s not like he set the mold for guard play. I’m comfortable saying he has the potential to be as good as Nelson. That isn’t the same as saying he will be. See the difference?

That’s not how Perk started, LOL! Joe Rose scoffed at the idea of Perk’s suggestion that he could be traded before the Draft.

Even Joe Rose laughed out loud when Perk eventually backed down to Sieler could be a deadline trade. It was funny watching Perk slowly walk back his original assertion!

    • Delayed release creates early traffic against press.
    • Speed is more build-up than run-by.
    • Unable to shake clingy coverage with route running.
    • Route tree will come with fewer branches.

Elite blend of size, strength and high-point talent.

Once he gets top position, it’s too late for the defender.

Dominant win rate on contested catches during career.

Displayed better vertical push on comeback routes in 2025.

Catches with sudden, sticky hands outside his frame.

Able to leap, adjust and extend to make circus catches.

Defenders struggle to get him down quickly after the catch.

Has the ability to connect and dominate as a run blocker.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

He has a high YPC rate because he is a really good 50/50 guy. With him, it’s not 50/50 though because he wins most of the time.

“We are not going to have a room full of 5’9″ wide receivers” – Jon-Eric Sullivan

  74. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

There’s a narrative out there that we’re taking WR’s in the first couple of rounds. I think we might take one WR, but not before our 2nd pick, whether that ends up being at #30 or later. I just don’t believe any of the hype that our first pick will be a WR

  75. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

yeah I agree about not drafting a wide receiver early

Need to have a quarterback first

first round wide receiver is the cherry on top move

But history shows the best wide receivers come from the first round. Randy Moss and Steve Largent are the only two that come to mind that didn’t

  76. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Like everyone here has been saying, if you pick either CB or OL with the first pick, you have a hard time filling the other spot with a top quality player. This is why I just can’t believe we’d go WR first, or maybe not even 2nd with WR.

  77. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

So Rene Konga now makes at least three DTs brought in for our top 30 visits. Interesting.

  78. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think the edge guys go early and we take the highest player on our board at #11. I really think it will be corner or Downs. Then we go to work on the OL.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Seems like EDGE and CB share a similar trajectory. The 2 best EDGE guys are going top 10, while the 2 best CB’s will be gone by 12, and then it’s a very similar drop off at both positions.

  79. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Even with a high number of picks in the top 100, we will not be able to address everything in this draft. We are going to have to pick and choose based on the board, which means some of the positions like CBs, SAF, EDGE, OL, TE, and/or WR will not be addressed to our liking. It’s just the way it is, unfortunately.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

No doubt. We can definitely get a good start though, and the 3rd RD could give us a nice shot at some inexpensive gems

  80. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Talking about WR’s drafted later – Romeo Doubs and Amon-Ra St. Brown were 4th rounders and I think Puka Nacua was drafted 5th round.

  81. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I honestly don’t think Spencer Fano is a smokescreen at all. I think the odds of Miami picking him are as high as any other player at #11. If we were to draft him, ideally it would come after trading down a few spots, but you do take a risk doing that.

  82. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

As reported by Rich, BBM’s priority UDFA want DT Rene Konga had jumped up draft boards to a projected 4th rounder now and is making a top 30 visit. Nice!

      • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I’m not saying Sully will draft DT, but if they pass or miss out on a Kayden McDonald or Christen Miller early, Konga could definitely be a target on day 3.
