Thanks for the heads up on the blog change!
    From other post:
    Dbolt,
It’s not an assumption- I said I don’t know. He could do better, he could do worse. If I said I thought he’d do better or worse, THAT would be an assumption.
And I don’t blame Tannehill for everything that’s wrong with the team, nor does Randy from what I have read. But he deserves his share of the blame, too. Yes, the line was inconsistent. Yes, there were injuries. Yes (even though like Tannehill, apparently they’re above reproach), there were q questionable coaching decisions.. And YES, Tannehill did not always make the right play. I think that’s all anyone is saying. I think Randy is just tired of people acting like Tannehill had no culpability in what went down, and tired of people getting their panties bunched when the least criticism is pointed his way- I know I am. And for the umpteenth time, I hope he gets better, I hope he’s the second coming, I want more than anything to be wrong. But I am not convinced he will ever be more than what he had shown, which can be good enough if everything else is fixed. Flacco, Johnson, Dilfer, Simms, Hofstetler all won a super bowl without being perfect. It’s absolutely fine if he joins that list.

The guy from Washington- not broke leg guy but the other one.. although I think broke leg guy might be on this list, too…

Al — if you stop by…..figured out the whole $27 mil versus $30 mil guaranteed for Wallace issue. This was a days-later update in an NFL.com article on what was not at first known about the contract and not included in the original stories on the topic.

“UPDATE: Breer reported specifics of Wallace’s $60 million deal. The wideout will receive $27 million guaranteed upon signing and another $3 million at the start of the 2014 league year.”

Guessing you were going off the original news stories and can’t blame you for that. I would have too if that was what I first hit and it looked legit.

And to Gigi and Herd — the middle school Happy V Day

  7. Ken says:

Happy Valentine’s day everyone. May all of the hearts broken by another late season collapse of our phins be mended. Ah fuck it, lets just drink beer.

Pig was just teasing us with colonpokey, but does leave me wondering who he is getting intimate with today. That rodent is a player.

  10. Silly Tim says:

Try, actually I think most here are happy with Tannehill’s growth and we’re happy we have a QB despite some people telling us we don’t have our QB. He’s not perfect but he’s the best QB we’ve had since Marino and he’s pretty good.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the ladies.

  11. Mike E. says:

Happy Valentines Day Herd and Gigi!

  12. stangerx says:

Was listening to Omar while on the road a bit ago. Seems it has finally settled in that he can’t go after Tanny like before. He brought up he was better last year and left it at, “now the Q is whether or not he is the guy that can win the big game in the playoffs.”

Looks like his new whipping boy might be Joe P though. Said something like, “Philbin is the last person I would ever ask for advice as to who to draft.” Maybe Omar got ignored when his hand was raised at pressers.

  13. Randy says:

    Dbolt,
No worries. I’m not upset with any conversations. Trypod kind of explained my thoughts too. I think Tanny has done ok…and I fully admit the OL struggled. Frankly, when you’re a .500 team, the blame can be spread around liberally.

  14. Randy says:

    stanger,
I’m watching USA play South Africa in 7 man rugby. Are the fields as big as in regular rugby?

    • stangerx says:

Same size field, half the people. Part of the reason why it tires you out like anything and the games are so short

And to be fair in the defense of the wimpy speedsters, it is done tourney style and they play multiple times in a day.

  15. Silly Tim says:

Stanger, it’s sports, gotta have someone to blame. It’s a lot more fun to enjoy sports than to get pissed off by it. That said, sometimes the league makes it harder to enjoy. The Dolphins have disappointed me, but it doesn’t make me hate anyone.

    • stangerx says:

Every fan has to do it their own way. Even if we’ve had a string of bad ones, only coach since Shula I hate is Saban…….but that is for personal reasons.

  16. Randy says:

And crap does the game go fast. It’s at the half already.

    • stangerx says:

Normal games are 40 minutes per half but there are lots of rest times for the pretty boys while the big uglies go at it.

  17. Randy says:

    stanger,
Did Saban kick your dog? I remember being totally psyched when we hired Saban because I think he’s a great coach. I thought he was gonna take us to a few playoff runs. So much for that.

    • Silly Tim says:

He is a great coach. But he lied when he said he wasn’t going to Alabama and then did. He’s a better college coach though, where he can control young men as opposed to grown men.

    • Mike E. says:

He didn’t kick his dog, he stole Stanger’s dog and still to this day denies doing so.

      • stangerx says:

LOL — then Saban wouldn’t be alive…….either of my miniature poodles would kick his ass. 🙂

    • stangerx says:

The two things that lost me where the lie that Tim brought up and learning the no eye contact rule with the staff at Davie. Just can’t like a guy who does either of those…..even if a good coach (see the evil genius).

  18. Silly Tim says:

We could have ended up with the Blaine Gabbert’s or Jake Locker’s of the world, not that good and can’t stay healthy. But Tanny is an iron man and is ascending, not regressing. I’ll ride with that. 🙂

  19. Try Pod says:

    Wow, just- wow.

  20. Randy says:

    Tim,
I didn’t have a problem with him lying. I thought it sucked for us, but that sorta thing happens all the time. What I didn’t like was how he handled the team and his inability to change how he dealt with players. Most coaches are pretty rigid though. I also think some of the blame goes to the players for not being disciplined. I just don’t think Saban enjoyed coaching entitled, selfish NFL players who are often in it for themselves….and he couldn’t really do much about it.

    • Silly Tim says:

That’s why I said he’s better off in college. He can recruit and build the team his way. In the NFL it’s a lot harder and he wanted to win right away and didn’t go about the QB position the right way.

    • stangerx says:

My flip side of that is that I think Saban likes being god……might even think himself to be that, so long as he stays in Tuscaloosa.

  21. Mike E. says:

    uhhhhhhhh, Try . . . . . . What up?

  22. Randy says:

    stanger,
Don’t know about you, but I’ve known a few coaches who thought they were God. Lol

    • stangerx says:

LOL — know what you mean, but thankfully I’ve had few of them of my teams. Our football coach in high school was like that though, and he was also our athletic director.

I’d always nicely say hi to him and he’d look at me like “why do you even deign to talk to me”……maybe it was the Saban Rule and I didn’t get the memo. Then all of a sudden my senior year he acts like my best friend. Guess what I’d done the year before in wrestling had made me an actual person in his world.

Cool. Honestly think the Minny kid is going to be a key cog to our season.

  24. Silly Tim says:

Dbolt, you know what, I thought you might have been talking about Turner because you have liked him since the draft last year. But he played at NDS and it didn’t click for me that he was from MIN.

I also think he’s going to be the real deal. He has excellent character, he’s self-motivated and the coaches have raved about his skill set. He had a rough rookie season with the turf toe but showed some potential of what he can be in the Jets game.

I expect him to be a starter next year. I have put him in the lineup every time I list an OL. This is our best case scenario for me –
    LT Albert
    LG UFA or Turner
    C Pouncey
    RG UFA or Turner
    RT James

I see Thomas as a backup swing G/T and we need more competition for depth in other areas. Satele could re-sign as a backup C/G and/or Fox could re-sign as a backup OT. I think we move on from Garner this year. I’m not sure Brenner is anything more than a depth C/G and Smith is a really good run blocking guard but struggles in pass pro for some reason.

    • dbolt48 says:

Yep. Like I said I saw Calvin Pace quit rushing after getting his ass handed to him multiple times. Turner in his limited snaps vs the Jets was dominant.

      • Silly Tim says:

I drew the Jets comments from what you have said. I really didn’t focus on Turner in that game. The coaches said the same thing as what you saw.

  25. Silly Tim says:

Stanger, the 180 was because you did something for his ego. I know people like that and some I’m even somewhat friends with but I know who they are.

    • stangerx says:

He did it cause all of a sudden I wasn’t just one of the wrestlers but the one who was the face of the team, and yeah probably someone he pointed out as a top achiever in the school. So guess that does go with his ego. As a sophomore did real well too, but maybe not quite well enough to be one of his recognized “people.”

      • Silly Tim says:

My wife’s cousin was a wrestler and still coaches it. His son was into for awhile and was pretty good. He’s thin and wiry but he’s strong as shit per pound. He seems more suited to be less aggressive though. LOL

His father is short, maybe 5-6 and wrestled light weight back in his HS days but he was good.

My wife was a long jumper. Her brother a basketball player and track guy.

      • stangerx says:

That’s one of the great things about wrestling. You don’t have to be big to be great.

I have to work tomorrow. I am so unhappy about that. Furious is more like it. Bullshit training for a new software program for our computer for ordering. I say do the training during work hours, and most definitely NOT on Sunday.

  29. Silly Tim says:

Yeah, just went outside to clean off the cars with a dusting to move them up and squeeze 3 in the driveway for a reported 3-6 inches on top of the half a foot and pile ups already out there with single digit temps. Yay!!! Not!!! LOL

  30. Rockphin says:

    sigh……happy valentines day everyone.

  31. Silly Tim says:

Brian, cool and have a great time. Yeah February is a fuckin see you next Tuesday this year. LOL

  32. Silly Tim says:

Brian, it’s not like we have record amounts of snow here, but I live in a populated area where anything over 3 inches sends everyone into a tizzy. Like Mike E has said, must buy 10 gallons of milk and 14 loafs of bread. LOL

  33. Mike E. says:

Bri – Have a great time man! Enjoy! Should be a great week, especially considering the alternative of dealing with this frigid weather.

  34. Mike E. says:

    Rock

Feel for ya man, I really do. I hope things turn around for you quickly man.
