Mandatory Mini Camp 6/16 – 6/18

The team will hold its mandatory mini-camp June 16-18. If you aren’t at this one you have a problem.

DeVante Parker the first round pick won’t be taking part as he recovers from the surgical procedure he had done early last week.

Ndamukong Suh who misssed the voluntary work outs and had everyone in a tizzy has been to all of the OTA’s and will be present for mini camp.

Last chance in shorts to make an impression before the real hitting begins in training camp.

Post twitter feeds about practice so we can all stay up to date.

Update:

. have cut their minicamp from three to two days. Starts today. No practice Thursday.

I do give Tejada credit, but we need a 3rd baseman with a bat. We can’t afford with this lineup to have a light hitting 3B.

Suh is among very few that are playing that isn’t all tatted up head to toe. It’s like phenomenon today, in ten- fifteen years or so I think people will look back at the pictures of today and be like wtf was that all about?

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Saw Mad Max Saturday night. I liked it, but I wonder what type of person sees that and says that’s the best movie I’ve ever seen. The reviews for that movie are through the roof. I thought it was well done for what it is, but best movie I’ve ever seen? Oh hell effing no!

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I have been hesitant to see it. regardless of reviews, i find I do not like sequels very much and without Mel……

Besides Tina spoiled me on the Franchise in Thunderdome. (Hated it)

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The original had that independent look and feel to it and it was strange. I’m sure the new one will be like many other action movies made today.

  7. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike, I tend to agree with you that Tats are a turn off. One or two small discreet ones aren’t a deal breaker, but sleeves and big ol’ “works of art” are way too much.

I was at the bar eating dinner last week (again, I fucking hate this being single again shit) and ran into this VERY pretty woman with a VERY nice body….except she had 10 -12 tats all over it (estimate based on what I could see) Made me “Pull up in my pursuit” so to speak.

  8. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Tim, the “original” had a B movie feel to it. LOL Actually now that I think about it, my comment above about sequels is totally off when it comes to this franchise. My favorite was the second movie (post apocalypse mad max)

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah somewhat, but B movies usually have silly acting, Mad Max had a strange feel to it. Kind of like A Clockwork Orange.

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rock

The new Mad Max isn’t a sequel, it’s a total redo really. They changed the story significantly. It’s really all about the special effects and strangeness of the story.

  11. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The original was cool, really off the beaten path, and just different, in the vein of Death Race 2000, which I also loved. That was crazy shiot!

I never thought of myself as a typical Dolphins fan. lol

  13. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mike, like you say to each their own, but I was soooo tempted to ask her WHY would you do that? you are so beautiful, why ruin it with BAD permanent “art” ? Plus I was drinking so my filter was not engaged. I didn’t go there though.

  14. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Yeah, I have gone to a lot of games and met a lot of Dolphins fans and I can honestly say that is an Atypical dolphins fan…..LOL

Rock, I once brought a girl home and we had a good time and all. The next day or two she called me and we’re talking and she tells me how she’s into astrology and all the horoscope stuff. So brilliant me thinks it’s a good idea to say I kind of get it some of it but it’s silly when you really think about it. She didn’t take kindly to me basically making fun of her because of how much she bought into it. She was never in my bed again. LOL

  18. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, “it’s hopeful” that Parker could play in Week 1 of the regular season. However, Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post reports a timetable in the neighborhood of eight to 12 weeks for a full recovery. Even if it’s the full 12 weeks, Parker should still be ready to go for Week 1 or Week 2 of the regular season.

I think Abramson is off on his reporting, (I certainly hope so) I think the 12 week timeline is for the initial surgery not the replacement of one of the screws…

The Mets have decided after the All Star break is when David Wright will return. They’re probably setting up fans to understand if/when they don’t pick up a 3B. I’m very leery of this. Even if he comes back, does he stay back? Does he play like David Wright of 2008, or is he a shell of that? I just hope they’re not counting on him.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s becoming chronic with Wright. I have no idea what his timetable is. I think they have to start moving on from him because he’s not reliable anymore.

  22. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

  23. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Didn’t Jelani Jenkins have the same surgery as Parker and missed very little time?

  24. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Vikings released S Taylor Mays.
Mays lasts just three months with the Vikings even though their head coach is Mays’ former Cincy friend, Mike Zimmer. He should draw some interest around the league as versatile backup safety/linebacker who can help on special teams and is still just 27 years old.

  25. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

The Montreal Gazette is hearing DE Michael Sam left the CFL’s Alouettes because he sensed he was going to get cut.
Sam walked away the team for “personal reasons” before their exhibition opener and is not expected back. From the Gazette: “The latest theory concerning Sam’s departure was that he simply wasn’t good enough to make the roster, sensed this and left to save himself and the organization embarrassment.” It’s looking more and more unlikely that Sam will become the NFL’s first openly gay player.

  26. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
    #Dolphin signed DT CJ Mosley to a 1 yr $1.05M ($80,000 signing bonus & $970,000-base salary/$463,000-split salary). Cap number is $665,000.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He’s no lock to make the team either.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

        No, doesn’t seem like it.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

His deal is very team friendly, and not a lot more money than paying Kamal Johnson….plus I think Suh had a small hand in coaxing this signing from both sides.

Mosley doesn’t jump out at ya on a stat sheet, but he is a plugger, can occupy blocks.
All this beef between our DE’s bodes well for our LB’s & DB’s to make plays…I like it!

  27. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think we brought Mosely in to deepen the competition at DT and to push some of the young bucks. When they see Suh, Mitchell and Mosely with their experience and Phillips as a 2nd rd pick, they realize there aren’t many jobs left so they better make it hard for the coaches to release them. If Mosely shows he’s still got it and those young bucks don’t step up, we covered ourselves. If say A. Johnson beats out Mosely for the last spot, we win there too.

  28. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Mosley will have his salary guaranteed, by being a veteran player, if he is on the opening day roster.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Right, but he can get cut before that, and likely would if either AJ Francis or Anthony Johnson has a strong TC and preseason.

  29. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I remember having no interest in Anthony Johnson when he was in the draft. He was always available as he best available on those play draft sites and I always ignored him but after seeing him play last year I was very impressed with him and I look forward to him progressing even more this year. He’s a hidden gem if he can continue to hold down a spot and contribute.
Best of luck AJ give’em hell.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Johnson is similar to Mitchell in his initial quickness off the ball and pursuit. The problem for Francis is he’s more like Phillips with size and power.

  31. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

With the structure of the CBA and the limited amount of practice time they have I’m surprised to see not just the first but the second reduction in practice sessions. Maybe there isn’t much more to see until the pads go on? Reduce chances of injury? I don’t know.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Thurs will likely be a classroom day.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Ya can’t hit until the real Training Camp, and even then they limit it….Lombardi rolls over in his grave…SMH 😉

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It could be based on how far they’ve gotten with installations and they’re ahead of where they thought they might be when the schedule was created. Maybe they feel the work they can get done in two day’s is plenty as opposed to stretching it out over 3 days.

  32. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Now that the Mosley signing is officially out of the way, will Miami now look to sign Evan Mathis.
There is some $9M left in Ross’s cookie jar.

  33. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

GD, we’ve been having the Mathis debate for days and some info. that came out of it is if we don’t spend the $10M in cap space we have we can roll it over on top of the cap next year. We might need that for pending UFAs like Miller and Vernon.

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

We also heard that his team mates have NO love loss on his departure. They’re happy or glad even. So there is that too.

Chemistry is tricky, it seems there is good chemistry now why risk that on a pure progress stopper.

  34. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Yeah, I saw some of that debate Tim.
Did anyone mention the Top 51 rule?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I didn’t see anything about that.

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

With that in mind I think there is even less chance we sign him. He’d take the spot of a guy they likely expect decent production from as he would probably get some guaranteed money.

  35. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yeah, why sign a pro bowl G when your O-line is suspect, and when you can keep a guy on the roster that might give you decent production. Yeah, I get that. I get that as well as I get creating polls.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Maybe we don’t want to pay a 34 year old guard $7M.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I understand that. I just hope it’s the right decision. It’s all about allocation. If you know you have a guy in place that is a competent starter, you don’t sign him. If you think you’re a playoff team, and that might be spot that keeps you from advancing, you do sign him. That’s how I see it.

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I read the article about Mathis, they just said that he guy likes to jum out in his set while jason Peters prefers to alow the player to come to him. They didn’t hate the guy or anything, that’s misleading. That being said, we probably won’t sign him anyway.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Mathis & Peters formed one of the NFL’s best left sides for the 3 1/2 seasons he was on the field there.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Eagles players said they actually had issues on the left side based on what Mike just said.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Not from the film I saw or the so called experts out there, including the PFF grades.

  37. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Benton & Philbin should have enough OL experience between them to know if Mathis is needed, even more so when the pads are on in TC.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s when they’re going to find out. But remember they already have an idea on Thomas and Turner from last year. OTAs and minicamps are a learning and conditioning period. TC is when things get physical. We’ll see. There are also other guys competing at guard even though most don’t know who they are.

  38. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

They were just saying that Mathis and Peters played different styles, and it will work well with Allen Brbre who will be playing LG. They didn’t say it was really a problem, or that Mathis wasn’t a good player.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

“Thomas says there have been fundamental problems on the left side of the Eagles offensive line because of the different ways the two Pro Bowlers chose to block the pass rushers.”

That doesn’t mean Mathis isn’t a god player, but they did say it was a problem.
