A Blogger Looks at 50

He was there when I started blogging about the Dolphins and he’s been a mainstay ever since then too. I started blogging during Cam Cameron’s try at coaching and there was a guy named Mr Bungle who was always rational, always considerate, always on point and always there. Mr Bungle went on to become a few different names but always the same good guy.

Mr Bungle –  The Knight who Says Ni – Tim the Enchanter and finally because Marinofan13 made a Madden team out of the bloggers he combined the last two names and we have Tim Knight.

I call Tim the “straw that stirs the drink, he keeps these conversations going more than anyone and he’s never a mean a-hole, never chases anyone off and he’s always ready to converse with anyone. He’s been a friend to all of us and we certainly unleashed a monster when we came here and the pictures show up on the board. Oh boy!

We appreciate you Tim Knight and want to wish you a very Happy Birthday.

To my good friend I’ve yet to meet, all the best Tim.

DITTO HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR BUNGLE. TIM HAS ALSO BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLOGGERS AND ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I AM ON “UNLEASHED”

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLD MAN!

I remember when I first discovered the SS board. I had ‘m ved from Delray to Melbourne and was shocked to find that I was then required to be a Jacksonville fan by the NFL even though I was geographically still closer to Miami than Jacksonville. It was awefull. I couldn’t see the games, I couldn’t get any news locally and only had ESPN to feed me hate of my team.

Then something wonderful happened. I turned on my computer and googled Miami Dolphins desperate to read anything about the Dolphins and found this website set up for my old local paper. The Sun Sentinel. I read the article ravinously, after months without any Dolphins fix. I am pretty sure the article was written by Dave Hyde and not the guy who covered the U

Anyway after reading the article. There were these comments at the bottom written by these people who had also read the article one of these people was Mr Bungle there was also Tinshaker, some guy named Randy is there some reason was obsessed with buckets in a bunch of other great in a bunch of other great people who loved to talk about my favorite team it was awesome and became a part of my daily rilife. A big part of my daily life. A lot of the reason I started and continued blogging through the years is due to my first interactions with Tim and you other guys from back then. Thanks.

Three “cheers” for Tim hip hip hooray hip hip hooray hip hip hooray

  6. steveccnv says:

Why this season will be different:

In previous seasons, Tannehill often alternated good and bad practices or followed up two good sessions with a bad practice. That trend also showed up on game days.

But this offseason, Tannehill was consistently steady in organized team activities and training camp, which is a very good sign for the Dolphins.

Wow! Thanks everyone. Son, I really appreciate this article you did. Thank you.

I’ll be going to a friends house to hang with friends and some family to celebrate all of us who have, are and will be turning 50 this year. Also to share memories of our dear friend Jim who passed away back in March. Jim would have been 50 on July 14th. He was the first of our close group of friends, the clan, to leave us and he’ll always be missed but always remembered for as long as we’re all on this planet living this thing we call life.

Thanks so much to all of you. Go Phins!!!!

Steve, I’ve used stub hub and vivid seats before for tickets. Stanger got tickets through the team last year and this year so I didn’t have to search but I have found Vivid to be cheaper than stub hub. (They send me an email EVERY single day since though sheeeesh)

When you guys go to a game, where do you buy tickets?
    ———————–
If you know you are going NFL tix exchange is by far the easiest…….problem is if you don’t end up going for some reason then just having an electronic tix creates problems cause they are very hard to resell.

Stubhub is the other one I’ve gone with, and lets you get hard tickets in hand. Haven’t tried but Vivid seems one of there competitors.

You can also just show up at the game and will always find something from the various “guys.” Will always be able to get something that way (they sit right at the entrance past the fence boldly…..so Sunlife is cool) and it is normally cheaper but maybe not if the game is a real hot one.

And if you want to go to the Fest on Oct 25……I’m one of those guys. Have them reserved at a decent price already.

  28. stangerx says:

According to Mando: “Left tackle Branden Albert, recovering from reconstructive knee surgery, is on schedule with his return to the field and that means he might pass his physical when players report on Wednesday. ”

Philbin was even confident enough to say: “”The perfect scenario is get him some work in some preseason game and get him ready to play first.”

    • Tim Knight says:

Yes! John Benton loves the guy and says he works his tail off. Even when he couldn’t do the physical work he’s in all the meetings.

  29. The Flying Pig says:

    Don’t worry about Parker

I met the screw in his foot and he is a sweet little screw

    • stangerx says:

LOL — I’m not worried about him long-term, but if you read between the lines Philbin was a bit less positive about him and game one.

  30. Tim Knight says:

Okay folks, off to the party. Have a great day. And thanks again for all the birthday wishes. 🙂

SO TIM turns 50, eh?? –That’s really nice, Tim. –FWIW my oldest DAUGHTER turns 50 in about 4 weeks. Then, a little while after that, my oldest GRAND DAUGHTER turns 30!! –Y’all got that?
By the way, I believe I’m the ONLY member of this site who has attended a Dolphins game in every one of their 50 SEASONS!!!!!!!!!!!
    ——————————————————
Many of you know I’m a fan of the Marlins, too (tho’ NOT to the degree that I’m a fan of the FINS). One of my fav Marlins of all time, Ichiro Suzuki, is coming up on yet another mind-boggling achievement. He needs 2 more hits and 4 more stolen bases to reach 2900 hits (in the U.S. major leagues) and 500 stolen bases. –IF he reaches 3000 hits next season, ICHRO will be the 7th man in major league history to attain 3000 hits and 500 stolen bases. The others are Rickey Henderson, Lou Brock, Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, Honus Wagner and Paul Molitor. That’s pretty amazing company, I’d say!!

    • olddolphan says:

Check that: –I was unable to attend a game in 1971 due to my active duty status in Dick Nixon’s army. But I DID GET HOME in time for the last regular season game in ’72 plus the playoff classic against the Browns. –So make that at least one Dolphins game in 49 of their 50 seasons!

SON: What’s the outlook for your UCF Knights this season?? I see where they only have 9 returning starters this season. But, somehow, O’Leary always fields a competitive/winning team. USF, here in Tampa, is everyone’s pick for last place in the East Division of the AAC. Looks like Raymond James Stadium will be home to two big time losers, the Tampa Bay Yucs and USF for the umpteenth consecutive season (or so it seems).
    —————-
I think my FAU Owls will be about 5-7 or 6-6 this season, which is an improvement over their 3-9 disaster last year. FAU was 0-7 on the road last season. An opening day win at Tulsa (a team they beat last year) would be nice heading into their home showdown against the U. of Miami at Schnellenberger Field Friday night, September 11.

  40. son of a son of a shula says:

    OD,
The UCF schedule isn’t too bad, our QB returns and O’Leary has been recruiting well for the last few years especially on defense they’re expected to contend for the conference championship.

  54. olddolphan says:

WYOMING: SAW that short article you ran on Brandon Albert. Albert’s ability to play at a very high level is, in my mind, the #1 factor concerning Miami’s ability THIS YEAR to make the playoffs and WIN in the playoffs. If Albert goes down our playoff hopes go down with him, unless Do Hickey can pull a very large rabbit out of his hat!

    • steveccnv says:

I’m not so sure, they say Fox has been doing a good job over there at LT. Obviously not ideal to have him there, but if the guards are average at worst, and Tannehill becomes the player I think he will, we may be ok without Alberts.

  55. steveccnv says:

I’d like to come out and say we’re going to beat the cheats twice this yr, but with the way they get the calls at home, they are almost unbeatable at home.

I agree, I think we should be able to beat them physically but I agree with you about the calls. There’s plenty of evidence that that is real. Ask OV, ask Wake and on and on…

    Son,
I’m not sure of the general feeling about her in the rest of the country, but a lot of New Yorkers hate her, women and democrats included.

  58. New Age says:

    Tim,

Happy late birthday wishes! You are a good guy and are already making me feel young today. Thanks!

On to politics, I don’t like Trump. I’m glad he is shaking things up but he’s really no different than the others. Born with a silver spoon, average in business, hypocritical, and an attention ho. Not who I want representing this country but I hope he wakes up the voters. We CAN do a lot better than what we have.

  59. stangerx says:

I don’t want either Hillary or Trump to have their finger on the button. That’s not about politics, more survival….would feel the same about any egomaniac.
