This week…

It all starts this week. Tonight is the Hall of Fame game to start the pre-season and the rest of the teams start playing at the end of this week. The Hall of Fame inductions were last evening marking the start of another football season.

Congratulations to the inductees:

Jerome Bettis

Tim Brown

Charles Haley

Will Shields

Mick Tingelhoff

Bill Polian

Ron Wolf

And of course Junior Seau, the only one of these inductees who played in Miami

Here is the link to the speech Sydney Seau, Junior’s daughter, would have given for her father. The Hall doesn’t allow full speeches unless the inductee gives it himself essentially. It’s beautiful:

Let’s get ready for some football

Mike E, I’m not going to hit panic button on OG’s yet. We haven’t even had a PS game yet. So far it’s been Suh or Mitchell getting by their man for a few plays here and there, not every snap.

#90 & #93 are about as good as DT’s get. So no other OG in the NFL would be able to stonewall them every down.
Remember, Mathis was a better run blocker and graded less in pass blocking.
It’s still very early in camp. Let Philbin & Benton continue to get these guys that are already here some work.

It’s very encouraging that rookie Douglas has flashed.
It’s great news that Dallas Thomas is back practicing today after a shoulder scare.
It’s encouraging that Turner is healthy this year after missing his rookie year essentially.
It’s encouraging that last week Tanny said he feels safe when asked about the OL.

I think we’ll see good stuff on the horizon.

    Go Phins!

I’m not in panic mode, but a lot of people are trying real hard to convince everyone that our OG’s are good, when I really don’t see it. We’ll see when they start playing some games, and the preseason itself may not tell all either.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Preseason will at least shed some light on it. Especially what we have without #71.

    • getterdone says:

I’m not saying they’re good yet…but they’re working their tails off, or getting their tails worked off.
The top flight competition will make them better in time, at least that’s where we’re at right now in early Aug….stay tuned, more trench warfare to come soon! 🙂

  10. New Age says:

Im with Mike. Yeah, it’s early but not much has really changed. The OGs are getting smoked every practice. Albert is the fix for OT. I’m not saying these guys can’t eventually be the answer. I don’t want us going through any of the season figuring out the OG position.

    • getterdone says:

I’m sure a lot of teams are, in fact I read many are….have even posted as much on other teams.
Competition going on in all 32 camps. Thank God we got some top notch competitors nowadays.

ANDERSON – Here are our observations from Wednesday night’s practice at Anderson University:

    • Defense rules the day

You might have read how Andrew Luck hadn’t thrown an interception during the first three days of training camp.

    So much for that.

On Day 4, Luck threw three interceptions during 7-on-7 and full-team drills Wednesday, three huge plays on a night when the defense came away a decisive winner.

Luck threw picks to Vontae Davis, Darius Butler and Greg Toler – each of the Colts’ top three cornerbacks. Davis’ play, in particular, was a thing of beauty. There was an apparent miscommunication between Luck and T.Y. Hilton, his intended receiver. Nevertheless, Davis seemed to bait Luck into throwing an ill-advised pass, contorting his body and adjusting beautifully once the ball came his way.

The interception to Butler was not among Luck’s best work. He locked onto Andre Johnson as he raced to the corner of the end zone, allowing Butler to get an early break on the ball and make the interception in stride near the goal line.
    ____________________________________
Time to trade Luck before he signs a big contract.

  25. getterdone says:

    Quarterbacks report

Even Peyton Manning makes mistakes. During 7-on-7 drills, Manning was intercepted on a short pass by safety T.J. Ward, who ran it all the way back to the end zone. Manning went on to miss on a few throws throughout practice, most of which were presumably caused by miscommunication with his receivers.

On a machine with Intel Core-i5 or i7 and a standard HDD, how long should an installation of Windows 7 64 bit roughly take? I’m after a rough estimate because my installation seems to be running quite slowly (previously, I’ve installed Win7 32bit on a laptop and it went much quicker but maybe there are differences between 32 and 64 bit editions).

Mine took less than an hour, but I don’t know the exact time because I didn’t care to stay in the room the whole time. – mmyers Mar 12 ’10 at 19:54
    1

In the end, my installation took about 40 minutes (Core i7, decent SSD, 8GB RAM) so it was probably pretty normal. I was little bit worried at first because the beginning was “weird” – long waiting on screens that didn’t provide much feedback of what was going on. – Borek Mar 12 ’10 at 20:25

I also have the long waiting screens. It happened with Vista too. It’s only been on computers I have built myself, OEM hardware seems to start off fine. I think it’s Windows trying to find drivers. – ta.speot.is Mar 12 ’10 at 22:23
    1

Not nearly as long as it takes to load all the updates. – Daniel R Hicks Aug 6 ’13 at 2:46

It usually takes me around an hour to get a booting Windows 7 system with the basic drivers installed. It then takes at least another day installing updates and service packs. – Majenko Jun 14 ’14 at 12:42

All i did was tried to uninstall W-10. Supposedly have 30 days to do so and it removes it and puts you back to W7. My W7 desktop and startup is back on screen. I Just cant click on anything as it is still “thinking”. I have no plan or desire to wipe the drive. God i hope it dont come to that. And for clarity based on youbsaying it can take a day, if after work tomorrow bits still thinking i will turn power off and back on and see where i am at at that point.

Mike you have got ot in one. Why are people stressing over our OGs. The coaches are trying different combos right now which is exactly what they should be doing. By the time the 3rd preseason game comes around it will be sorted. All teams go through crap like this during the camps. I blame the beat writers for inflaming the masses by spouting crap.

Look there yet another pix of Drew the snake talking to MT. Reporter thinks it must be about Mathis. DR represents a lot of Phin players. If indeed it is about Mathis my reading of the body language is DR is pleading and MT is not having any of it. FTR the tent is much more appealing.
