Perhaps another trip across the pond will help the Miami Dolphins prevent their season from potentially spiraling out of control.
They’ll try to avoid a third straight defeat Sunday in London against a New York Jets team that’s looking to bounce back from its first defeat.
Last season, Miami (1-2) was 1-2 and coming off two straight losses when it went to London and rolled to a 38-14 victory over Oakland. Though the Dolphins would go on to lose the game that followed, at least they are familiar with their current plight.
“We’ve been here before, so we know what we gotta do, and that’s just go back to work, find a way to get this W,” safety Michael Thomas’ told the team’s official website.
Saddled with high expectations after adding $114 million defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and confident quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Lamar Miller would take their play to a higher level, the Dolphins have floundered out of the gate. They needed a fourth-quarter rally to win 17-10 at Washington in Week 1, never led during a three-point loss at Jacksonville and were blown out 41-14 by Buffalo at home last Sunday.
Fourth-year coach Joe Philbin appeared to be on thin ice heading into the season, and might fall through if things don’t improve. Publicly, Philbin hasn’t shown too much concern for these early struggles or his own job security but won’t sugarcoat the team’s current state.
”This is not a time to panic,” he said. ”We’re not getting 53 new players. We’re not getting 24 new coaches. We’re either going to find solutions to these problems or not, and we’re either going to stick together or not.”
Philbin said that lineup changes could happen this week, perhaps on defense.
The addition of Suh hasn’t kept the Dolphins from yielding 435 rushing yards – second-most in the league. They’ve recorded one sack and allowed a combined 101.8 passer rating to the trio of Kirk Cousins, Blake Bortles and Tyrod Taylor.
”I’m disappointed, but I’m mostly disappointed in myself,” embattled defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle said. ”I’ve got to do a better job getting guys in the right spots.”
Offensively, Tannehill has completed 61.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns but threw all three of his interceptions last week. He’s also been sacked seven times.
Miller set career highs with 1,099 rushing yards and eight TDs last season, but has gained 105 without a score on 30 attempts while dealing with an ankle issue.
”Guys are frustrated,” Tannehill said. ”We know we’re a better team than we’ve showed. There’s no panic, but definitely urgency to get this thing turned around.”
Tannehill’s completed only 57.6 percent of his passes and has four TDs and six INTs while splitting his six starts against New York (2-1). Miller ran for a career-high 178 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries during a 37-24 season-ending home loss to the Jets in 2014.
However, both could have a hard time getting untracked against a New York defense that allowed 17 points prior to last week’s 24-17 loss to Philadelphia. Despite the defeat, the Jets yielded 231 yards and rank fourth in the league giving up 298.3 per game.
With four turnovers and a number of missed tackles on Darren Sproles’ 89-yard punt return for a TD, the Jets feel they hurt themselves more than the Eagles did.
“We didn’t lose this game because we thought we were better than we are,” center Nick Mangold said. ”We lost because of execution.”
With Chris Ivory sidelined by a quad injury, New York managed 47 rushing yards and Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions after throwing two in the first two contests.
”It’s just as important not to overreact for a loss as it is to a win,” first-year coach Todd Bowles said. ”We didn’t overreact to the two wins, we’re not going to overreact to the one loss.”
Ivory, who leads the team with 148 rushing yards and has scored twice, should return for this contest after being a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday. He’s averaged 3.7 yards per carry while gaining 171 in four games against the Dolphins.
While Ivory and star cornerback Darrelle Revis (hamstring) are probable to play, Eric Decker (knee) is a game-time decision after sitting out last week’s game. Decker is listed as questionable after missing practice Wednesday and being limited on Thursday and Friday.
This will be the Jets’ first game in London.
”I think guys think it’s cool to go over there,” Fitzpatrick said. “It will be a unique experience for all of us and hopefully bring the team together even more.”
It’s time to kick some ass fellas! GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Decker with the bad knee and still abuses us
Oh well the defense shit the bed again and we suck on offense. This is getting so hard to watch.
Aikens is doing a fine job
thank you jets, dont let blowbin escape this week
Did the Dolphins call a defensive timeout on that drive
yep
We
Are
Awesome
💩
And the Jets get the ball first next half
That would be zero sacks Try. One on the entire year.
lmao the dolphins suck so god damn bad i cant even hate fireman ed
I repeat. THIS FINS DEFENSE plays at the Pats Oct. 29. Van Brocklin’s NFL record of 554 yards passing in one game is in jeopardy!!
Take a knee
Sweep ??
Does Tannehill not see? It’s not the blind side. WTF??
Lol
Go Team Tanne!
bri,
you are right, the dolphins have one sac, and it belongs to landry. there are absolutely no other sacks on that team
It worked so well last time. …
They run the same blitz twice in a row and we make the same mistake in oline coverage both times!
3 times in a row!
Damn!
I said it first fouts
We see it, Fouts sees it, the Dolphins oline? Coaches? Tanny?
This is fucking pitiful! 3 passes deflected in a row.
The coaches are certainly to blame, but I don’t see much from the players either. Missed tackles and blown coverages, in addition to next to no pass rush on defense, and poor execution, sub-par blocking, and inability to establish any sort of consistency on the OL isn’t helping the cause.
It’s a team effort and I have no idea what’s going on.
How bout that poise by Tanny in the face of a the blitz
Ugly
OD,
already went there earlier, saying brady will throw 9 tds and 700 yards against this def
Sorry, missed that. You may have been too optimistic!!.
Twice – Exactly
Tannehill looks worse than EJ Manuel awful right now. Im thinking they might as well put Moore in.
Don’t insult Tanne
He’s a bright light, in a sea of darkness
He looks like shit (queue the excuses)
But I would keep him out there
The way we’re playing it would be worse with Moore in there. He doesn’t move all that well and we’re allowing too much pressure.
A 16 second 3 and out! That is laughable!
16 second 3 and out wow. Same play three times same results
That’s two Toba…
Your should hear a bunch of boos
Season is over
BEEN OVER a long time, Ken.
We should have deferred…lol
I think we deferred the season. Do you guys want to win this year? We defer, thank you.
We should have deferred playing today
We had no choice, the Jets deferred.
What did CJ Mosely say to Fitz, “Sorry we got within 20 feet of you man, we’ll hang back a little farther”
This is not looking good for us. Philbin ” no balance”. Ya think !!!! RUN THE FUCKING BALL
We can’t protect the QB. We can’t pressure the QB
BULLETIN!!!!!!! –Ross seen walking briskly to Dolphins’ locker room to deliver “Important Message” at halftime. Gallows being set-up inside locker room.
Bri hopefully i get the cahnce to pay ya in 10-25
Anyone wanna start a tiddlywinks league?
MAYBE ROSS wil stick his OWN HEAD in the gallows in Miami’s locker!
So, who is the interim coach? We won’t get anyone worth much but I’m thinking Schwartz could be the best pick for now. He has history with Suh and our penalty issues were already here. At least he gets fired up. Would have been nice to get Quinn last year.
I dont know
The Flying Pig says:
October 4, 2015 at 11:15 am
He looks like shit (queue the excuses)
once again i dont see excuses for him. but i see lots of blame for him and not the o line.
THEY ALL SUCK
Good to see the team progressing……much better first half than last week.
Gonna half to pull out the stops in the 2nd half…….looking forward to seeing what the O can do.
SURPRISE, Jon. They’ll SUCK in the 2nd half, too!
Not what I am hoping for, but you may be right. Gonna be interesting to watch air Tanny though, and seems that is where the Jets have not shown it.
Glad I played Ivory in fantasy
Lol, that says it all.
So you are the dude that got him going. 🙂
I mainly blame the OL but he looks worse than his rookie year. This ‘toy’ might be broken.
Just like Andrew Luck when you get hit or tipped on every throw. It’s hard to play QB without a pocket.
Yeh, but can he improve after 4 years of this? I think he’s shellshocked.
Actually i “blame” scheme\play calling mostly.
ROSS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO BE MIAMI’S NEXT HEAD COACH: Send resume to Ihaven’tgotafuckingclue.com. DO IT QUICKLY!!
Almost 300 yards of opponent offense in a half once again. Get rid of the whole staff but make sure Coyle leaves first in line.
Toba,
I seriously doubt I am going if this shit keeps up today. Honestly, I will watch but I won’t waste sick days and money to see this team ther way it’s playing right now. They don’t deserve it.
You suck😎
Life’s too short- save your time for your family. You’ll be happier.
Brian — whole point of going is hanging with the boys….the experience.
a 16 second dolphin drive … we can waste talent but we can’t waste a half minute of clock time
YOUNG STANGER: Answer for you re: “Offensive” line up the page.
I saw it…….guess my fan is more filled with hope, even it is just the lotto and a dream type.
So. .. anyone got a phone they want to sell me?
PUT YOUR HOME phone# (land line) on this one with a piece of scotch tape completely covering it.–Good Luck, man!
GO MIAMI
Hell Yeah
It’s like Philbin is discussing bad traffic is why he was back late after lunch
New Age, it has nothing to do with 4 years. It has to do with the entire offense failing. Lazor calls dumb fucking running plays and we create our own issues. there is no aggressiveness with this offense. It has a “let’s try this” attitude instead of “we’re going to do this” attitude. It sucks!
I was talking about Tannehill having OL issues since he got here. When did he ever have a really good OL to throw behind. I’ve seen a lot of jitters and quick dump offs from him this year. Is he broken?
Lines make qbs, qbs make lines
it’s like philbin is an observer of the game, not a participant.
Once again, I was conservative on how badly we will lose this. Our D may tighten up but their defense is perfectly capable of keeping us from scoring another point.
Me, too!! 27-16, Jets. WHAT was I thinking?? Right now, looks like this may be a repeat of last week’s 41-14 debacle!
Yep, Im afraid so.
I could sure go for a nice pulled pork sandwich right now. …
Sorry Piggy!
philbin chats like “well it’s only a half” instead of acting like SHIT WE JUST WASTED AN ENTIRE HALF!!!!!
That’s been Philbin’s entire tenure Naples
Lets see what the brain trust came up with as far as second half adjustments
Ugh, one of the few times I wished halftime ;lasted longer. Guys…can’t we just have a few more minutes of something that doesn’t look like crap on the TV please?
THE REPORTER SHOULD have asked Philbin: “What are your thoughts as you get ready for your LAST HALF as an NFL head coach?”
bri,
i so get that, this team is not worth spending any money on
i’m thinking we let Odrick and Starks go for nothing when it was COYLE the whole time.
What can he do to keep his DL from getting blown off the ball? What happened to this DL?
This game is not over yet.
Unfortunately, you are right. Another 41-14 blowout loss on the way!!
Un-FUCKING-Believable
We will never get another sack
Of course not- Suh is here, everything’s different now
lol well that sums things up
lmao, vickspatrick killing the fins
Stanger
If the football Gods were merciful, it would be
LOL
the problem with this team is their offensive philosophy is flawed, they are a pass first team and cannot control the clock, we need a run first mentality with the qb over center, shotgun dink and dunk run and shoot doesnt work in the nfl. the jets are beating us with a philosophy that we should have. the defense is too exposed due to the lack of offense
I tend to agree. It has no identity they just try shit and it sucks.
I truly feel sick to my stomach. I cannot figure out why i subject myself to this year in and year out
ANOTHER 41-14 blowout loss coming up.
“never giving up” HEAR THAT DOLPHINS?
THESE guys have never heard that.
Why isn’t Ross calling plays himself right now? I would have fired all of them before half time
These plays look so creative and innovative, unlike Lazor’s same ol same ol
You guys are the best, but i can’t do this any longer. Talk to you all later.
Could have went to lunch with the wife and young lady but I chose to have hot dogs here and go down with the ship
3 score game we could not make that up in 6 quarters none the less 2
Stacy just poached FF points from Ken. )
WTF happened to this DL? And we were worried about losing Vernon is FA. Yeah I’m sure he’s gonna get a million offers. For what?
I really am done now. I am shredding my fan card. I will not subject myself to this any longer.
Rock — it’s frick’n game. And who knows….this might bring in the new coach and new hope to talk about.
ivory = 7 yds per carry — pitiful rush D
this is good news, it is ridding the fins of the blowbin disease.
it hurts now but it is the first step to a cure
Did Fitzpatrick not run like a demon on us before with either Buffalo or Texans ??
The team has obviously quit on Philbin
I wont watch another minute until these guys are gone. Later fellas!
See you next season, buddy!!
See you next game
KEN; Joe may be gone but most of this staff of retards will still be around until the end of the season, unless HULK intervenes!
Total yards Jests 360 & 27 pts
Miami 60 total yards & 7 points.
Go Coyle!
Go Lazor!
Go Philbin!
No, JUST GO….GOODBYE!
nearly 9 yds a play on that drive
that Bose commercial was downright pervie
Im a glutten for punisment i guess. Kind of like driving past a bad accident. Ya just cant help looking. This drive will be crucial to any hope we have. Game ir season
I officially renounce my membership to the patience brigade.
Let’s have some fun and take a poll. Which is worse? our DC or our OC?
OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IS OUR NUMB-NUTS OWNER.
We will have something good and fun to talk about tomorrow
changing of the guard
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE “TOP” is saying “Philbin’s THE MAN. COYLE and LAZOR and TANNENBAUM ARE THE GREATEST. And you pussy critics need to get on board or go to hell!”
——————
Whatcha think now, TOP??
there is no way blowbin survive this week.
Wow that was a crazy great play by Tannehill
HULK,HULK,HULK——Please come back and SAVE US!!!!!
Wow just wow
Wow at that 3rd and 5 play
So on third and 5 we throw a 2 yd pass On 4th we throw 10 yds into great coverage.
ha ha he said miami has been out of sync. dude they never even got in the fucking kitchen.
AMEN, FFR!!
They are in the sync and their season is going down the drain
good scramble by Tannehil but did you see how they jammed our WRs at the line COYLE?
Get ready for the Bill Lazor era
IM SURE that will be a vast improvement. –WE NEED HULK!!
