As I sat down to write this weeks article, after deciding this week would be a bad week to try and extract questions from the group, I thought to myself, “What am I going to write about today?” So many unknowns, a new HC in place, a team that seems to have played worse than the apparent talent on it, so what do I say. Do I take a positive spin on the season, or a negative one. I’ve decided to do a little of both.
The good news is, the Dolphins finally realized that Joe Philbin is not the leader they needed going forward. I’ve felt that way for quite some time as you all know, but always hoped for the best. The bad news is, even with Joe Philbin gone, and hyped up, physically imposing Dan Campbell in, the players that were here underachieving for Joe, and making excuses are still in uniform, on the active roster, and will be donning those uniforms this Sunday against the Titans in Tennessee. Although I blame Joe for a lack of fire, and certainly not enough accountability, I still feel the players should have enough drive to go out there and do their job with passion, whether they agree with the scheme, or the coach, or the GM, or the owner. They get paid the big bucks to play, yes play a game, and to not be prideful enough to give your all for yourself, and your teammates is inexcusable.
We’re 1-3, and of course, the New England Patriots are in 1st place at 4-0, followed by the New York Jets at 3-1, and then the Buffalo Bills at 3-2. We’ve already lost once to the Bills and Jets, leaving us 0-2 in the division. The Patriots and Jets are 1-0, the Bills 1-1. While we’ve only played 4 games, it’s a deep hole to start. OK, some good news! Outside our division, if you’re hoping like hell we can somehow get a Wild Card berth, the future looks brighter outside our division. Take away 1st place teams like the 5-0 Bengals, the 3-2 Indianapolis Colts, and the 5-0 Denver Broncos, and the rest of the AFC, with the exception of the Pittsburgh Steelers who are 3-2, are under .500. The Titans are 1-3, while the Jaguars and Texans are each 1-4. The Raiders and Chargers are 2-3, while the Chiefs are 1-4.
So where do we go from here? What do we need to improve on to become a contender, at least for a Wild Card? Big picture, we’re 28th in the NFL on Offense, and we’re 29th on defense. Suh is here! Devante Parker is here! Jordan Cameron is here! Kenny Stills is here! None of the above have made an impact on this team. So how do we change this? First of all, on the offensive side of the ball, Dan Campbell better run an Oklahoma drill on Bill Lazor’s face if he doesn’t relent from his PASS-PASS-PASS-PUNT mentality. While this much maligned O-line has looked absolutely putrid, what can get them fired up and more confident than imposing their will and running the ball down another teams throats? Time to make a concerted effort and RUN-THE-BALL. Our 24YO RB who ran for 1099 yards last year with a 5.1 YPC average has 37 rushing attempts FOR THE SEASON! Not 1 game, FOUR games! He’s averaging a way below career average 3.5 YPC, and has no rushing TD’s. I wish I could say it was because another RB has picked up the slack, but Jonas Gray, who basically has had action in one game is 2nd on the team with 10 carries. Are you kidding me? Just for fun, Ryan Tannehill is 3rd, and Jarvis Landry is 4th , with 8 carries, and 5 carries respectively. See a problem here?
On offense, it all starts with the run game for me. That’s been the biggest weakness, and due to the lack of commitment to the run game, our offense is one dimensional, and with the our less than average O-line, there is too much pressure on that unit to succeed. Branden Albert hasn’t been healthy, and his replacement at LT, Jason Fox hasn’t been either, and both have played very poorly. LG Dallas Thomas has struggled mightily. C Mike Pouncey has been OK, but when water starts pouring through the dam, one brick can only do so much. RG Jamil Douglas has struggled as well, as I expected. What I didn’t expect is RT Ju’Wuan to go backwards, way backwards after such an impressive rookie season. Our O-line is pathetic, and now we need to try and mask it somewhat by running the ball. Give these guys some confidence, and if they can’t get it done, find someone else on the roster that can!
On defense, thankfully Coyle was removed. We need to be more aggressive. It seems we can’t get 100% agreement from anyone as to what type of scheme we’ve been running “2 gap” “Read and React”, but whatever it was, it clearly wasn’t working. One place where I do believe we have legit talent is on the D-line. Suh, Mitchell, Wake and Vernon. Wake’s injury has really limited his effectiveness, to the point where he doesn’t even belong on the field. If Suh is really being double and triple teamed every play, it’s impossible that no one else can win a one-on-one battle, but we haven’t. We have plenty of differing opinions here, but mine is clearly that Suh has played well. We need him to be a beast, and he’s been tame. Maybe Philbin’s exit and Campbell’s entrance will awake the beast. Regardless of what Suh does, where is Earl Mitchell, Olivier Vernon, Terence Fede and especially Cam Wake? WTF Cam, if you’re hurt that bad, sit out the game and let an able bodied player play. It’s insane! 4 games, ZERO TACKLES, ZERO SACKS, 1 assist. GTFOOH!
If any of you have seen the 1977 movie “One on One”, with Robbie Benson, we need to “Pull the stops out” Incidentally, if you’re of fetal age like D, there’s no shot you’ve seen that movie, so I’ll explain the context. In the movie “One on One”, Robbie Benson plays Henry Steele, a HS basketball player from a small town in Colorado, recruited by a big college “Western University” in Los Angeles. Henry struggles with both the academics and the physicality of the college game, Henry is a slightly built but talented guard. The coach G.D. Spradlin plays Coach Moreland Smith (Same guy who played the HC in “North Dallas Forty”) tires of Henry’s struggles as he’s on a 4YR full scholarship, and tries to intimidate Henry to in order to make him renounce his scholarship. Here’s a clip from the movie, but I couldn’t find the “Pull the stops out” video, which I’ll get to later.
Henry feels frustrated with his play, so he asks his roommate and friend on the team for help, who gives him some pills, likely amphetamines, and and during practice, Steele (under the influence) at first starts to make some fantastic plays, but as he succumbs to the drug, he becomes out of control until he is escorted out of the practice by his friend. They play a very seventies-esque song call “Pull the stops out” to accompany the scene. My best pal Scott and I both love that movie, there are some classic lines we always bring up, like one would from Goodfellas, or any classic movie. Anyway, we do need to pull the stops out, and being conservative in any way should be thrown out the window. these are desperate times my friends, and the window of opportunity for this season is closing fast. But it ain’t closed yet, and a win against the Titans is the place to start.
The Titans are also 1-3, and also desperate as we will be, so it could be a wild and wacky game. Neither team can afford another loss, so I expect a hard fought game, with at least one surprise play from both teams. I hope Dan has his team ready to compete, because they haven’t really competed hard in any game this year, including the win against Washington. Son’s buddy Kirk Cousins gift-wrapped that one for us. Time to show some pride, and and fight hard, and it’s amazing sometimes what that can lead to. GO DOLPHINS!!!!
And now for the babe of the week . . .

I do cry whenever I watch “To Sir With Love”. Every time!
Why?
Toba, are you saying that you kept thinking Damon and DiCaprio were gay in The Departed?
LMAO, he said he had “a bitch of a time”.
LOL!
LOL..
Instead of my favorites…..I’ll throw out five movies you should watch if you have not.
Charlie Wilson’s War
Private Parts
The Great Escape
The Cooler
Spartacus (yeah I like Gladiator Movies,,,bonus selection). 🙂
Rollerball (James Caan version) too.
Private Parts = Paul Giamatti was awesome in this.
But with a name like “Pig Vomit”…..does that mean ours is pro or con on him?…lol
Private Parts with that tool Stern? 🙄
Dolphins OC Bill Lazor: DeVante Parker has confidence, aura!
GDP ,, Yes Celine is Canadian… not a fact I am overly proud of.. her voice just grates on my nerves..
mind you, not as much as Whitney’s in the Bodyguard… that one just makes me shudder.. I had a pic taken at Vegas Wax Museum of me choking the shit outta Whitney..
Yeah but you jam on the best of Bobby Brown hits. LOL
I can honestly say I could not name, nor would I recognize a single Bobbie Brown song..
Stanger, do you like it when Scraps grabs your leg and rubs up and down?
LOL — sounds familiar but have no idea how to place it. Guess I chose the wrong day to give up sniffing glue.
LOL
Movies, I can’t help but watching whenever I run across them on TV, no matter how many times I have seen them:
Godfather 1 and 2
Raiders of the Lost Arc
Diehard (Non edited)
Tombstone
Remember the Titans
The Ten Commandments
Goodfellas
Rio Bravo
Goodfellas & Tombstone jump out at me….good list.
Who shall withstand the power of God?!

Stand Still and see the salvation of the lord!!!
Own five of those. So yeah I’m thinking good taste. 🙂
GDP — you should at least see Private Parts to know whether you like or hate Stern…..either way it works.
Anyone on the board have a contact for you that might have mine or Brian’s? Need to set up the Fest contact loop, especially for where we set up the tailgate. Never know where till that morning.
I believe Mike E & Tim do, also OD does, he called me on the phone the other day from work after I called him out here on Ross & Tbaum bashing…was a good convo. 😉
Mike E, Tim, OD — can you forward on?
I just sent it Stanger when I saw the okey dokey.. Stanger should be in yer inbox..
Thanks — and guess that stereotype about Canadians being too polite is true. 🙂
Silence of the Lambs
Godfather I, II
The Departed
Shawshank Redemption
Wreck it Ralph
Kill Bill I, II
Reservoir Dogs
What, no King Kong? 😯
LOL, I am admittedly narcissistic, so I should have added it.

Toba that’s your prerogative.
I was just going to mention that annoying song. LOL
I don’t get it ??
Bobby Brown’s big hit was My Prerogative.
ah… lol
Never cared for Stern but I LOVED Private Parts, great movie.
Blank a doodle do?
Wait, so I can’t say big cock, but she can say big cock coming out of my mouth? That sucks!
LMAO! that scene was hilarious
And the whole flick is worth it just for the naked blonde in the studio towards the end.
In 2010 I think, The American Film Institute put out a list of the 100 greatest movies of all time. I printed the list and started to DVR and rent the ones I hadn’t seen. I am now up to 88 that I have seen. I got to tell you there are some really strange movies on that list, especially from the 70’s..LOL
That sounds like a very interesting undertaking..
Some excellent movies were made in the 70s
Kong
I love the Kill Bill movies. I’m a big fan of Tarantino movies in general
He’s a fantastic screenwriter/director, not so much as an actor, lol
SOTL was an excellent movie as well. Definitely a top thriller
LOL @ Kong
Well, Gene, I didn’t write it too neat, so I have a sloppy pussy.
LOL
And of course Giamatti as “pig vomit”
I said earlier he was awesome in that.
Bookman
Can you name a few of the strange ones? Curious to see if I ever heard or seen any of them
Stanger, the naked chick was the one and only Jenna Jameson.
I never realized that until very recently. She was unbelievably gorgeous, then she got all nasty with plastic surgery.
Yeah she totally changed her look and I don’t know why.
Ba dap bab badap ba dap bap badap ba dap bap bap badap…
Miami has the Dolphins
The Lamest Football Team
They drop the ball and fail to score
Like no one`s ever seen
They’re in the air, they’re on the ground
They’re always being controlled
And when you say Miami
You`re talking Toilet Bowl
Because…
I hate the dolphins
I hate the dolphins
I hate the dolphins, they are bums
Yes they’re the
Miami Dolphins,
I hate the Dolphins,
Miami Dolphins THEY ARE BUMS!
Hey Rock: Don’t hold back.. Tell us what ya really think 🙂
The Oinkfather
LOL Rock – You seem a little down on the team. Am I right? 😉
he still loves he team
I think he is just drunk
Rock
I would change it to We’re in the air, we punt it far
“Show some sincere intensity rooting for the team or I’ll have your ass!”
I am at work and completely sober. I just hate the Dolphins that’s all. They are a terrible franchise who have sucked for years. Mine eyes have seen the light.
Mike E
Strange to me, and I should have said 60’s and 70’s.
They were either strange in content, or I did not get the ending or point of the movies…LOL
Clockwork Orange
Dr Strangelove
2001 A Space odyssey
The Wild Bunch
the first 3 on that list are Stanley Kubrick movies
In Piggy’s humble opinion he is the greatest filmmaker ever
I saw 3 of the 4, I never saw Dr Strangelove, although I know Peter Sellers was very good in it. The Wild Bunch was a Sam Peckinpah classic, Clockwork Orange was beyond bizarre, and 2001 was pretty crazy too.
I am not saying they were at all bad movies…just didn’t resonate with me……OK wait 2001 Space odyssey and Clockwwork Orange were bad…in my opinion only

I blew up the still again. It was that poisonous Homeraide that was at fault. I am on the wagon now and realize that that shit team has been unhealthy for me since Wayne H. bought the stinking franchise. THE DOLPHINS SUCK!
I would change it to We’re in the air, we punt it far
How about “We’re in despair, they’re a bunch of clowns”
“Rudy”
I hate that movie! (But I cannot stop my self from watching it when ever I come across it flipping channels.
Bookman: Clockwork Orange was a very F’ed up movie..
It was one of the movies where, at the end, I was like: “WTF was that, and How do I ever get the time back that I lost?”
Kind of like how I feel this year after watching Dolphins games…LOL
LMAO .. wife blames me on a lot of those on demand rentals..
Rock
Rudy is a great feel-good movie
Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite movies
my taste is kind of bizarre
Who Knew ??!!!!
Eraserhead
That is David Lynch
and I’m a fan of Blue Velvet and Lost Highway if we are talking David Lynch
Kind of sounds like his brief TE Career here..
Yes and Blue Velvet is pretty fucked up.
Tannenbum Will continue to destroy this team until Ross is forced to sell it
Was your body taken over by an angry twitter account?
No, I have just bottled up my disappointment in the team for too long and I will not cheer on this disgraceful franchise any longer. They have sucked for a very long time and I was in denial. I just kept drinking the poison. Next week will be better, next season will be better. We have ______ now. It’s our time. NO IT IS NOT. NO THEY WILL NOT. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. We have incompetents running the show. They will continue to be incompetent. The Dolphins will continue to suck. There is no cure for stupid.
I feel the need to come clean and admit that some of my other favorites of all time are
Oklahoma
Sound Of Music
Grease
White Christmas (This one is near the top of my list)
So there’s that……
I too am a closet Grease fan..
that just sounds so wrong…
I went to it like 3 times in the theater when it was released
oh hell at least 3.. I would guess closer to 7.. and I happen to own at least three copies of it …
That’s okay, Rock’s favorite movie is Freddy Got Fingered. LOL
LMAO
the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
….admit it!
Next year Tennenbum will pick the next losing coach and will destroy our cap a little more. Ross is getting old and has no one to pass the team on to. He will eventually sell it or he will die and his heir will sell it. Then there MAY be hope. (four letter word that..H O P E) They are the worse team in the NFL.
GIGI : What have done with Rockphin ???

Not that I’m proud to admit this, but actually my favorite move is “Braveheart” followed a close second by “Dances with Wolves” (I have bad taste in movies)

but its along the lines of the chick flicks you guys are talking about
I’ve always liked Grease too, er I mean Grease one, Grease too sucked, except for Michelle Pfieffer is totally hot.
agree with all of the above..
I thought you meant you like to grease one. LOL
Lol, Grease one Michelle Pfeiffer.
My Sincerest apologies to the good Gigi. I have busted her chops for years, while in my homeraide drunken stupor, and she has been right. The stadium sucks, the logo sucks, the owner sucks, the coach sucks, the GM sucks, the VP of football sucks, the team colors suck…SHE WAS AND IS RIGHT!

My hat is off to Tim on that one……never had a clue, and yeah I’ve seenone of her “other” flicks. Two different women.
I recently watched Private Parts and when that scene came on I thought to myself “I need to find out who this chick is and see if she gets naked in anything else” I was blown away to find out it was Jenna Jameson.
Oh she gets naked in anything else. LOL
But doesn’t look nearly as good in any of it as she did in that movie, lol.
But I still like you guys, so I will just come here and bash the team from time to time if you guys don’t mind too much….Or even if you do!
oh you know once we beat the Titans and Vanquish the Texans Curse you will be intrigued again, and around week 14 they will have ya back in their clutches… just to rip yer heart out in week 17 … 🙂
“God says he is pretty sure he can get me out of this….But you’re FUCKED”
NOGTIH everyone.
THE DOLPHINS SUCK!
Someone’s feeling sassy
I don’t really like the Mets as a Marlins fan but I can’t help but notice similarities to the WS Marlins teams. Seems the Mets are a team of destiny and the Dodgers will probably not generate enough offense to beat NY this series. I want to see a Chicago-NY showdown; now that series will be epic.
Would love to see it too. 🙂
Go Dodgers, Go Jays !!!! 🙂
I can’t believe FFR didn’t chime in on his favorite movie (maybe he did but I didn’t see it).
I thought perhaps that Eyes Wide Shut would be in his top 5.
Nah, Deep Throat.
*yawn* I’m bored, time to go make this a Dan Campbell hour.
Al
Gonna be tough to beat Greinke in LA, but it’s possible, especially if deGrom can match him.
That’s the key, if Greinke is on deGrom has to match him.
Tim,
LOL @ Deep Throat
Tim
Francesa was talking about Cespedes and his contract that he thinks he’ll want. He said he’s 97% sure the Mets won’t re-sign him. he said he’ll be looking for a 6YR/$200M contract. I don’t get who will pay him that much, they just need to point to Mike Trout’s 6yr/$144M contract for a more productive, 6 year younger player.
Alright, last one of Dan Campbell…one of him about to get Arthur Lynched LOL just for you Mike E.

Can’t see it 😦
“Seems the Mets are a team of destiny”
Maybe in their series AL, but my top two candidates for that are the Cubs and the Bluejays. Would love to see the Metskies and seems Royals lost that card after being in the series last year…….but those are the two teams doing the movies stuff.
Well, the Jays have a built in premium from all the quality player acquisitions they’ve made. If only every team could commit 3 errors in one inning to propel their offense LOL. The Mets made some moves too but they seemed more along the value type and not top tier. The timing of hits for the Mets is what I guess reminds me of the Marlins teams that won it all.
I agree. Cubs would be favorites against the Mets
is that from Blue Velvet?
Yes, she’s dancing on the car in that creepy scene.
What happened to Rock, he get gang butt raped by Tbaum & Ross?
when we win this weekend I am sure he would go back to his same old self
Dolphins broke him, he finally gave in.
What was Dennis Hopper inhaling in Blue Velvet?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090756/faq
fart
I liked Dennis Hopper in True Romance with Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Gary Oldman, and Christopher Walken.
Gary Oldman

so its not fart then…
True Romance is a borderline top 10 for me. LOVE that movie!
Only thing I remember is that big shoot out scene :/.
I love the scene where Gary Oldman plays a rastaferian pimp. Brad Pitt had a tiny part in that movie.
I’m pretty indifferent with movies; I’m hard to impress. I enjoy a good script. The last movie to impress me was probably Interstellar. Chris Nolan is elite IMO.
How about Silent Movie?
Tim,
That photo you posted depicting your idea of Gary Oldman is extremely creepy lol.
What movie is it from anyway? LOL.

Absolutely- we’ve discussed this before. Brad Pitt was the stoner roommate who made a bong out of a teddy bear honey container.
LOL – Yup! Hopper was great in that movie, and so was Christopher Walken, as usual.
The scene with the two of them where Hopper says Sicilians are descended from “N-words” is one of the best scenes in film history. Hands down the best scene in a movie filled with great scenes.
I can’t watch it now, I’m using my phone for iHeart radio to get WOR 710 for the pregame
That pic is of Boromir at the Rivendale meeting where the lords of the land are talking about what to do with the ring…or something.
Boromir had just said “It is a gift”…or something
I could see that. I remember that scene pretty well. Boromir wanted to use the power of the ring.
In any case, both guys are dead. Ned lost his head, Borimir about 6 arrows in him.
Yeppers.
Sean Bean dies in nearly everything I’ve ever seen him in. It may be one of his script requirements before he signs on, lol.
I guess he didn’t die in Ronin, but he was thoroughly emasculated by Dinero.

Agree on the Hopper in the trailer scene. Awesome!
WTF!!! WOR changes to some Money program instead of the game. This SUCKS!!! I just found a Dodgers station, which is better than nothing, but not much better.
