Game Day Wrap Up: Texans @ Dolphins

PiggyatGame

If you don;t know by now the Dolphins demolished the Houston Texans on Sunday.  And many Dolfans were there to see it, including this little Piggy.

The win broke an inexplicable streak:  The Dolphins were 0-6 against the Texans entering a game.  Well that changed in a big way.  The game was over by the end of the 1st quarter. By halftime the Dolphins had a 41-0 lead over the Texans.

MatthewsTD2

The Dolfans won the toss but deffered.  The Texans promptly when 3 and out losing 2 yards on their opening drive.

On their opening drive the Dolphins threw a few short passes to Jarivs Landry and ran Lamar Miller for a few first downs.

But the big play was a slant that was right on the money to Rishard Matthews who took the pass 53 yards to the house!  Most of the 53 yards was after the catch.  In this pic Prawn points out who Matthews is – and if you needed him to do that you are an idiot.

LandryTD1

So then on the next drive the Texans gained a total of minus 3 yards.  They went 3 and out again.

The Dolphins also went 3 and out after failing to covert a 3rd and 1.  And then they punted to the Texans again.  Who gained 7 yards – which is a total of 2 yards in 3 drives.  Guess what…they went 3 and out again.

And the Dolphins only managed 1 play on their next drive – but it was a good one.  It took Jarvis Landry 15 seconds to run 50 yards.  He basically covered the whole field.  Landry caught a pass about 15 yards downfield near the sideline.  It was an easy first down – step out right?

LandryBreakdwon

Nope – not Landry.

So gain a few more yards on the sideline

Nope – not Landry

He broke a bunch of tackles – and the downfield blocking was excellent

Boom one of the most exciting 50 yards TDs in Dolphin History.  Check out the breakdown.

Ladry3

Okay Landry that’s enough…

No…okay…MVP MVP MVP

After the Texans lost 3 yards on their next drive and went 3 and out…again…Landry scored his 2nd TD to give the Dolphins a 21-0 lead.

Landry finished the game with 5 catches for 83 yards.  Anyone who didn’t watch the game will not gawk at his performance.  But trust me he was out of this world fighting for every inch

MillerLongTF

So now its Lamar Miller’s turn to catch a 50 yard TD pass.

After the Dolphins went up 21 -0 on Landry’s 2nd score, the Texans pooped on their next drive.

The Dolphins drove the ball 83 yards finishing with a 53 yard screen pass for a TD to Lamar Miller.

Maybe Landry’s stats aren;t that impressive.  But Miller’s are.  175 yards on the ground and a long 85 yards TD run (not pictured here but it took the lead to 35-0) and 61 yards receiving – most of it on that screen.

Jonespic6

And don’t forget the defense.

All those 3 and outs early set the tone.

This is what it looks like when you score 2 pick sixes in consecutive weeks.

SuhandWake2sacks

And this is what 2 sacks each looks like.  Wake had 2 and Suh had 2

CampbellPrawn

And this is a happy coach!

Oh yeah

and guess who had an excellent game too…

4 TDs, 0 ints a perfect passer rating and an NFL record for consecutive completions (over 2 games)

wow

I like the Hines Ward comparison with Landry.

  2. Mike E. says:

    D

    I forgot about Jose Uribe

  3. Tim Knight says:

Mike E, I find it funny Dan keeps mentioning Parcells because it makes me think some you get an ill feeling hearing it over and over. It’s like we can’t shake the Parcells influence. LOL

    • Mike E. says:

I’m not bothered by any of those things. I followed the Giants closely, I know he was a great coach. The way he seemingly half-assed the whole set up here in MIA still pisses me off. I can separate the two things though.

  4. BoulderPhinfan says:

I think i like the 2nd jones pic 6 dive better than the first one. I think he put the ball between his legs mid air. HEre is a link

Too bad we can’t do the same thing to perverts over here. Here the parents would have been arrested for battery and false imprisonment.

    • Tim Knight says:

I understand we try to uphold civil rights but we seem to go out of our way to defend creeps and other fucked up offenders.

  6. Al in MIA says:

    Tim,
WOW on Dykstra….the new Canseco LOL
Damn he’s fatten up big time.
I’m not believing some of the shit he’s saying but that is still a wild story.
Can you imagine? “League Office: Steroid testing time….Dykstra: Time to spill the beans on your umpires….League Office: Ok, we will test on this day at this time, just show up and we will turn a blind eye on whatever you turn in”.

  7. Tim Knight says:

Terry Collins won NL Manager of the Year. Good for him, he was excellent this year.

    • Mike E. says:

Good for him. He did a great job pushing buttons, and keeping a lot of people happy. It’s tough when you have a bunch of guys that want to play, and managing to keep everyone hungry and satisfied. He did that very well. Happy for him. Now a world series crown to be the cherry on top of the sundae

Yea but he looks like a whale now and not some roided up guy
    —————————————
Most those roided out guys wind up looking like whales later. Muchle will atrophy and be replaced by fat once they stop roiding and being as active. Very common for body builders, wrestling stars, etc to wind up looking like that.

  9. Al in MIA says:

I hope the Fins come out with some big element of surprise.
    F the Patriots.
    Unleash Parker on them

  10. Al in MIA says:

I want to see Earl Mitchell in the jumbo 3 TE package around the goal line
Have him go right at Rob Ninkovich and drive him into the ground and roll on top of him.

  11. Al in MIA says:

I want to see Jarvis Landry take out Patrick Chung on a weak side hit on a run play.

  12. Al in MIA says:

I want to see Rishard Matthews leaving Malcom Butler gasping for air on a deep route.

  13. Al in MIA says:

    Tim,
    LOL @ the Mountain

  14. Al in MIA says:

I want to see Reshad Jones do another flip in the endzone but this time bow to the fans.

  15. manitobafinfan says:

    Herd : check yer emails.

  16. stangerx says:

Phins are at #14 in the AP power ranking……who would have thunk?

  17. getterdone says:

    Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley
Bill Lazor said that the players have met the challenge from Campbell to be mentally prepared for this game on a short week.

Anarumo opened his press conference: “I failed miserably” in getting Reshad Jones to not summersault into the end zone. Had another talk.

Dan Campbell coming to run people the F over!

  22. Al in MIA says:

    GDP,
I used to like Jimmy Johnson’s policy…..I don’t care what you do if you excel on the field.

    • D says:

Im not a fan of a coach who doesnt care that his players act asshats. I like coaches who lead their players to ac like responsible men. I like the mentality that Joe was trying to bring, this is your job, love your job, treat it with respect, be hard working respectful men. Problem is Joe didnt know how to motivate them, how to show them he was down there with them in the fight. Joe was too much a off the battlefield general, disconnected from his men, and not an in the shit with them sergeant. I think this is where Dan Campbell differs and where he is succeeding.

  23. Ken says:

No Hulk this week. Still at my trial seminar.

  24. Ken says:

    Also Hulk happy

  25. Al in MIA says:

Dan F’ing Campbell coming to Foxboro like ….

  26. getterdone says:

    Andrew Abramson ✔ @AbramsonPBP
Anarumo on if he wishes he had week to prepare for Pats: You wish you had a month. But it is what is. They’re under the same circumstance.

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
“He’s a great quarterback, but you can ask Dan Marino, if you get pressure on a guy it makes it easier,” DC Lou Anarumo on Tom Brady.

    Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley
Lou Anarumo said he wishes he “had a month,” not three days, to prepare for Brady.

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
“He gets the ball out quick, as quick as anyone in the league, and anyone during his career,” Lou Anarumo on Tom Brady.

    • D says:

      Its stupid reporter questions….
errrrmm would ya like more time to prepare for the Patriots…

uhhh no we think that more time is justa waste who the fuck wants more tiem to prepare for anything much less a giant challenge…damn the torpedoes…

I mean what the fuck answer were they expecting…lol.

  27. getterdone says:

    Andrew Abramson ✔ @AbramsonPBP
Anarumo on Suh success vs Hou: I think he’d been close, he’d been disruptive. Some things he forced the issue. Made great plays on others.

    Andrew Abramson ✔ @AbramsonPBP
Anarumo says it “absolutely” makes a difference playing nationally televised game. Players are “well aware of the situation.”

  28. Try Pod says:

    Are those Cespedes’ real eyebrows?

  29. D says:

I think players do sense urgency of some games, but i think the veterans pretty much treat each game as just another game. To be truthful in the world we live in, everything is a nationally televised game. FF with its stat trackers, NFL Sunday Ticket, gambling all makes more than just those at the field and those that are your fans tune in. Best to just treat every game the amse, critically important. Every series should be a game winning drive. Every play should be the one that flips the momentum. If players just played 110% every play like they are coached to do in JV, HS, College, then there would be a lot better football to watch every game, and probably a lot less disparity between the worst teams in the league and the best.

  30. getterdone says:

Kirk Cousins has sort of back himself into a corner now. Once you have a saying go viral like that, you have to be able to back it up and we just don’t know how good of a QB Kirk Cousins is at the moment.
He’s now selling “You Like That!!!” tee shirts….smh

If he falters people are going to be bringing this up a lot, because that is what social media does.

So glad we drafted Tanny & not Squeaky Boy!

  31. Mike E. says:

    Try

He can have two caterpillars sewn on his forehead, as long as he helps the Mets win. lol

  32. Mike E. says:

This will be an exciting sports week, Mets in the World Series, and Dolphins Thursday night. I like it!

  33. CavalierKong says:

I have to admit to a case of nerves about the game on Thursday. I had written the season off after the Jest game, but the last two games have given me hope again. It seems like the last 10 years have been the same roller coaster ride. Every time the team does something to make me believe we have something, they inevitably pull the rug out. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the damned football, lol. I just want to see the team we’ve seen the last two weeks play on Thursday, win or lose.

  34. olddolphan says:

MIKE E;I will be rooting as hard as I can for your Mets to win the World Series. Any league that does NOT force pitchers to “face the music” is a wimpy league. Do you think both Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez had MUCH LOWER RATES OF HIT BATTERS in the NL vs. the AL by coincidence??? Of course NOT!! Pedro Msartinez deserved, on many occasions, to be drilled BETWEEN THE EYES for all the guys he beaned in the American League (where he knew he wouldn’t have to come to bat to “face the music”.) I have NO RESPECT for cowards like Martinez. SHIT, I would have drilled his head in a spring training game if I had the chance!! –The designated hitter is totally evil, in my view. It unjustly penalizes pitchers who are good bunters or good hitters. And it prevents future Babe Ruths from ever proving their prowess at the plate.
    ——————
    GOOOOO-O-O-O Mets!!!

    • Mike E. says:

Thanks OD. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the DH is going to happen in the NL soon. College BB has the DH, and now even some HS’s do too. I love the strategy of the pitcher being in the game. It’s much easier to manage in the AL, compared to the NL, where you have to strategize so much more with the pitcher, not only at bat, but the double switch etc . . .

  35. Tim Knight says:

Mike E, great sports week for us. Tues. and Wed. WS, Thurs. Phins/Pats, Fri., Sat. and Sun. WS. Yeah baby!!!! Go Mets, go Phins!!!

  36. getterdone says:

OD, great to see ya on here. Glad you made that long drive back safely.
Had fun talking sports in expert detail with ya at the Fest. You’re a good man!

  37. herdfan says:

I’ve got some pics of the Fest from Mr. & Mrs Manitoba. I was going to try to put them on a separate page but I’m afraid I’ll screw something up….you have no idea the day I’ve had. Sooooo, I’m going to start a new post in a few, just pics. We can continue comments there. 🙂
